It can be found in the StreetPass Mii Plaza of every 3DS system along with the other plaza game; Puzzle Swap. The aim of this game is to gather heroes and fight your way through a series of monster filled rooms to save your Mii and collect all the hat rewards There are 2 methods to collect heroes: • StreetPass - Every time you receive a hit through streetpass, you can use that mii in the quest. The level of the mii depends on the number of times you have streetpassed that person, from level 1 all the way up to the maximum of level 7 • Play Coins - You may also spend play coins to hire wandering heroes. The cost is 2 play coins per hero whose colour and level is randomly chosen as either level 1 or level 2 You can use a maximum of 10 miis per play session however in this game it is good strategy that is needed +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ ••••••••••••••••••••••••••• StreetPass Quest •••••••••••••••••••••••••• +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ This is the first game you will start out with. When you start you shall see the regal ruler of the land (your mii) get kidnapped by ghosts and locked in a cage. Your mission, find and rescue yourself! It is a very simple and linear play map, just a straight series of rooms. Along the way you will also obtain a large variety of up to 16 hats for your mii to wear, which after all is the main reward for playing this game. However to stand the best chance of saving your regal ruler, good strategy is required and the best way to do this is to understand how to fight: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= Combat Mechanics +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- When you face an enemy you can do one of 3 options: • Fight - You can simply attack the enemy with your sword. You will attack 3 times and each attack will do damage equal to the hero's level. Once all 3 attacks are used up, your hero shall run away • Magic - You can use magic to strengthen your heroes or hinder the enemy. Magic is the main source of strategy in this game so knowing how best to utilise each hero's magic ability is the key to winning. There are 12 different kinds of magic in the game, which one your hero can use is dependent on the colour of its shirt: • Red - Fire Attack - Attacks all enemies in the room for 3 times your hero's level • Dark Blue - Water Attack - Attacks all enemies in the room for 3 times your hero’s level • Orange - Invigorate Heroes - Gives all your heroes a bonus attack so they can attack 4 times instead of 3 • Purple - Poison - Infects all enemies in the room dealing 1 damage at the end of every turn • Dark Green - Strengthen Hero - Doubles the level of just the next hero in the party up to maximum of 7 • Light Blue - Freezes Enemies - Freezes all enemies in the room for a random number of turns, meaning another hero can keep attacking them until they thaw • Light Green - Sleep - Puts all enemies to sleep for a random number of turns, similar to light blue magic • Pink - Daring Heroes - Increases chance of all heroes landing critical hits however your accuracy is severely decreased, meaning your attacks will miss more • Yellow - Sandstorm - Decreases your sword accuracy however there is a chance the enemy will rub sand from their eyes, allowing for an extra attack • Brown - Summon - Summons a wandering rabbit hero of random colour and random level from level 1 up to level 3 • White - Brightens Room - Fills the room with light, mostly useless • Black - Darkens Room - Similar to yellow magic, decreases sword accuracy but allows for the possibility of an extra attack • Next Hero - You may also choose to skip over the current hero and send him to the back of the party's line to use later, bringing out the next hero in line. You may choose to do this to allow for better strategy by using a different hero's attack or magic first. Learning how best to utilise the heroes and magic at your disposal is key to this game ----------------------------------------------------------------------- +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ Map +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- (13) | (1) (12) | | (2) (11) | | (3)----(4)--_ (10) | | (5)--(6)--(7)----(8)----(9) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ Walkthrough +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ======================================================================= | 1. The second quest offers a much larger map to explore featuring branching paths you can pick from, all new enemies with all new special abilities to challenge you with and of course new hats for you to collect, 22 in total from this quest! When you start this time, not just the regal ruler but the prince and princess too shall be kidnapped by slimes! Your mission, rescue all 3 of them! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ New Mechanics +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- With this new quest, new game mechanics and options are opened up to you allowing for all new strategies than those you used in the first quest: • Hire Old Heroes - You can now hire back previously met miis who you have met via streetpass. The cost of which is more than hiring a wandering hero at a price of 1 + the mii's level number of play coins. Though this is more expensive, it can prove very beneficial. For starters it means you can hire back heroes of higher levels than wandering heroes and secondly it means you can pick what colour hero you will receive (out of the ones you've met), very useful for when you need a specific colour for a trap room or shield • Teams - You can also now create teams using 2 heroes at once together for combo attacks. This is highly recommended at the team's resulting level is always 1 higher than the sum of the 2 heroes used to make it. To make a team you need 2 heroes of the same or similar colour. If they are a team of similar colour then you will simply get a stronger 3 hits to attack with. If the team is of the same colour though, they will receive a bonus 4th attack which does stack with orange magic allowing for a possible 5 attacks in one turn! Teams of 1 black and 1 white heroes also receive this bonus attack. Alternatively teams of the same colour may also perform a combo magic attack which act as much stronger versions of normal magic attacks: • Red - Fire Attack - Attacks all enemies in the room for 3 times your team's level • Dark Blue - Water Attack - Attacks all enemies in the room for 3 times your team's level • Orange - Invigorate Heroes - Gives all your heroes 2 bonus attacks so they can attack 5 times instead of 3 • Purple - Poison - Infects all enemies in the room dealing 2 damage at the end of every turn • Dark Green - Strengthen Hero - Increases the level of just the next hero in the party to level 7 • Light Blue - Freezes Enemies - Freezes all enemies in the room for maximum number of turns, meaning another hero can keep attacking them until they thaw • Light Green - Sleep - Puts all enemies to sleep for a maximum number of turns, similar to light blue magic • Pink - Daring Heroes - Heroes will always land critical hits however your accuracy is severely decreased, meaning your attacks will miss more • Yellow - Sandstorm - Decreases your sword accuracy however there is a chance the enemy will rub sand from their eyes, allowing for an extra attack • Brown - Summon - Summons a strong wandering rabbit hero of random colour and random level from level 4 up to level 7 • White - Brightens Room - Fills the room with light, mostly useless • Black - Darkens Room - Similar to yellow magic, decreases sword accuracy but allows for the possibility of an extra attack • Potions - You also now have the option of spending play coins to buy potions instead. Although quite expensive to buy, if used right they can be extremely useful to either strengthen your own party or to weaken the enemy. Be warned though, there is a chance of the bought potion failing to work: • Vial of Valor - 8 Coins - Calls back last 3 heroes who have left the party • Power Potion - 20 Coins - Increases all heroes levels by 3 • Dispelling Draft - 2 Coins - Blows away gas spewed by enemies • Bottled Barrier - 2 Coins - Nullifies an enemies magic ----------------------------------------------------------------------- +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ Map +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- (19)-(20) | (18) | (3)--(4)-----(7)--(8)--------(9)--(10)----_ (17) (1)--(2)-/ / \ \-------_ \ / \ / \ (13)--(14)--(16) (5)--(6)--/ (11)--(12)/ | \ / \--(15)--/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ Walkthrough +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ======================================================================= | 1. Here you can | | select from any of the hats you have unlocked, see above for | | the full list | ======================================================================= ======================================================================= | Q - I dont get many streetpass hits, any tips? | | | | A - The best way to get streetpass hits is if you know someone else | | with a 3DS, if you do you can simply keep streetpassing them | | whenever you meet. If you dont know anyone personally with a | | 3DS, the best tip for getting streetpasses is to think of the | | best places you are most likely to get hits from. Take your 3DS | | with you on the bus or keep it with you while your at school/ | | uni/ work, you will likely get some hits from here. Take it | | with you while your on the bus or walk around your local town/ | | shopping mall, you will most likely get a few hits doing this. | | Another good tip is going to your local gaming shops, if they | | have a 3DS system on display where you can play a demo game | | then you can get a streetpass hit off this. In fact most gaming | | shops will have a 3DS specifically for streetpassing behind the | | counter even if you cant see it. Just take your 3DS around | | places where there are alot of people and you are likely to | | pick up a couple of hits on it. If not then there is still the | | 10 play coins per day available for you to play from | ======================================================================= ======================================================================= | Q - I am suddenly getting large numbers of miis appearing in my | | plaza however they are not appearing in the StreetPass Quest, | | what is going on? | | | | A - These are likely miis you have encountered through spotpass | | instead of streetpass. They are different as spotpass are miis | | you have encountered on games that have online game play such | | as Mario Kart 7. Playing such games you are likely to play | | against many miis which is why a large number of them have | | suddenly started appearing in your plaza. However only miis | | encountered through streetpass count for the StreetPass Quests | | or the Puzzle Swap games. You can tell the difference between | | the two as streetpass miis are holding a panel and wearing hats,| | spotpass miis aren’t holding or wearing anything. Sadly miis | | met through spotpass dont have any use as of yet except | | increasing the number of miis registered in your plaza | ======================================================================= ======================================================================= | Q - My wandering heroes are cats but my friend's are dogs. How do I | | get dog heroes instead of cats or vice versa? | | | | A - The heroes you get depend on what animal you chose as your | | mii's favourite. If you chose cats then you shall get cat | | heroes, if you chose dogs then you shall get dog heroes. You | | can change this any time you want by selecting your mii's icon | | from the plaza, going into "Mii Settings", selecting "Edit | | Profile" and changing the "Preferred Pet" to the one of your | | choice | ======================================================================= ======================================================================= | Q - How do I beat the ghosts with the shields? | | | | A - In some rooms you may find that a monster is holding a coloured | | shield, if this is the case then no sword attacks will work on | | it. There are 3 different kinds of shields in this game and to | | break them required a sword attack from a hero of the same | | colour: | | • Yellow Shield - Yellow hero needed | | • Light Blue Shield - Light blue hero needed | | • Shadowlight Shield - Combo attack from a team of 1 black | | and 1 white hero | | If no such heroes are available to you, you may still use | | purple, red and blue magic to hurt them but your red and blue | | magic will only count as a normal attack instead of 3 times | | your normal attack | ======================================================================= ======================================================================= | Q - My magic attacks keep failing, what is happening? | | | | A - Some monsters are immune to some kinds of magic. Such as the | | blue ghosts being immune to blue magic or the blood ghosts | | being immune to red magic. All such cases are listed above in | | the monsters list | ======================================================================= ======================================================================= | Q - How do I get past the dark or poison rooms? | | | | A - Certain rooms throughout the quests are trap rooms which have a | | particular obstacle about them which cause all your heroes to | | run away from it. There are in fact 5 different kinds of these | | rooms and the way to get past them is to use magic. Each kind | | of room requires a particular colour magic, some even requiring | | teams of 2 heroes with combo magic. Below is all the different | | kind of rooms and what colour heroes you need to get past them: | | • Dark Room - 1 White Hero Needed | | • Dazzling Room - 1 Black Hero Needed | | • Poisonous Room - 2 Yellow Heroes Needed | | • Fiery Room - 2 Blue Heroes Needed | | • Icy Room - 2 Red Heroes Needed | ======================================================================= ======================================================================= | Q - I have encountered a door but it's locked, how to I open it? | | | | A - There are 3 locked doors in total, room 15 in the 2nd quest and | | rooms 7 and 31 in the secret quest. To unlock these you require | | keys which you can obtain while playing through the game. There | | are 3 keys and each one opens a particular door, they are as | | follows: | | • Bronze Key - Unlocks room 15 in the 2nd quest | | Obtained by completing the 2nd quest twice | | • Silver Key - Unlocks room 7 in the secret quest | | Obtained as a reward from room 19 in the | | secret quest | | • Golden Key - Unlocks room 31 in the secret quest | | Obtained by defeating the dark emperor in | | the secret quest with under 25 heroes | ======================================================================= ======================================================================= | Q - How to I kill the green slime? | | | | A - Green slimes are highly evasive, nearly all of your attacks | | will miss however it does only have 3 HP. It is immune to red, | | blue and purple magic so that leaves only regular sword attacks | | to kill it, meaning sadly your just going to have to keep | | attacking it hope you get lucky enough to hit it. It can still | | be frozen and put to sleep so do these to ensure you have the | | maximum number of attempts at hitting it. There is a rumor that | | pink heroes are especially effective against it hitting more | | often than other colours however I do not have enough data to | | confirm this | ======================================================================= ======================================================================= | Q - How can I possibly kill the dark emperor in under 25 heroes for | | the golden key? | | | | A - It takes good strategy and to attempt this it is highly | | recommended you have one or two level 7 miis you can hire back. | | A good strategy is to collect around 100 play coins (maybe more)| | and hire/ streetpass your level 7 miis along with a few other | | random wanderers. When you face the dark emperor attack it with | | your level 7 miis first, if they are of the same/similar colour | | then team them together for a lvl 15 attack (reduced due to | | level down gas though) and possibly the bonus attack. You could | | do around 50-60 damage with such a team in one turn. After the | | level 7's are finished, use one of the wanderers to buy a vial | | of valor to call them back. Team up and attack again then call | | them back once more with another wanderer and vial of valor. | | Simply keep repeating this cycle and you will be able to kill | | the dark emperor very quickly and in a very small amount of miis| ======================================================================= ======================================================================= | Q - There are branching pathways with hats to collect on either | | side, that means I have to play through the game multiple times | | to collect them all. How many times will I need to? | | | | A - This is correct, to collect every hat you need to play through | | every quest multiple times. Taking the ideal pathways you will | | need to play through the first quest twice, the 2nd quest at | | least 3 times and the secret quest at least 5 times, possibly | | more | ======================================================================= ======================================================================= | Q - A piece of information in this guide is incorrect and some bits | | of it seem missing and incomplete, what’s the deal? | | | | A - Simple answer, this guide is incomplete as this is a massive | | game that will likely take many months to fully complete given | | the slow method of collecting heroes to play with. At the time | | of writing this no one has yet given or shown a full | | record of every level or where every hat is. While most of this | | guide has been a record of my own playthroughs, alot of it has | | been made up from watching videos of people taking alternate | | paths from me and sketchy details I have read from other | | people's playthroughs of the other levels. While I would love | | to have this being a record of all my playthroughs which I can | | independently confirm, it would simply take an impossibly long | | amount of time to do this. As such there may very well be | | incomplete or indeed incorrect portions of this guide | | (particularly in the secret quest). However I am striving every | | day to continue playing through myself, recording and | | confirming any information I have, in essence I’m filling this | | in as I go along. If you do find something incorrect within | | this guide or if you have information that is missing from it | | then please do pm me with the details and I will add it. As I | | have said before, this is the kind of game you cannot make a | | full guide of alone so any help is much appreciated | ======================================================================= +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Legal Stuff ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ Copyright 2012 Gamez Expert.
