Walkthrough ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Welcome to the walkthrough portion of the guide where I will explain how to complete each puzzle. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3.001 Stumble's Balloons ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Location: Carnival Square Activation: Speak to Stumble Picarats: 20 In this puzzle the player will have to touch one of nine orange dots in order to untangle Stumble from his balloons. This puzzle can be completed in as little as 3 moves. Begin by tapping the top-right dot. Then tap the middle dot. Lastly, tap the top-left dot. After the puzzle, you'll be promted into a horse chase sequence. Swipe the stylus left and right to change lanes, and make sure to avoid barrels. Carrots will speed you up and allow you to break through barrels. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3.002 Where's Mother? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Location: Carnival Arcade Activation: Zoom in on the clown float, then speak to Cookie Picarats: 30 In this puzzle you have to select which woman is the girl's mother. Woman A is automatically ruled out because she doesn't have red hair. It cannot be woman C either, because she is actually a man. Since woman D owns a blue purse, not a pink one, it cannot be her. Woman E has a bear on her purse, but she says that's not her purse, so it cannot be her. This leaves woman 2 as her mother. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3.003 Stumble's Banners ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Location: Gallery Plaza Activation: Speak to Stumble Picarats: 30 In this puzzle you're trying to match up the posters on the bottom to the poster on the top. In poster C, the trumpet player is wearing a hat, while in poster A, the tail is different from the main poster. This leaves poster B as the answer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3.004 Bumper Perspective ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Location: Knickknack Alley Activation: Touch the toy red car in front of the kiosk Picarats: 20 Honestly, I didn't understand this riddle that well. I just kept clicking on cars until I selected the correct one. The correct car is the closest to the middle, facing the lower-right of the screen. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3.005 Robot Factory ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Location: Knickknack Alley Activation: Speak the Guy, the man behind the toy kiosk Picarats: 35 This puzzle requires the player to figure out the patern of how each piece is assembled into the robot. Put the shoes into the second box. Then, drag the body into the fourth box and flip it upside-down. Place the head in the third box and turn it to the right. Lastly, put the arms into the first box and turn them to the left. Click Submit to finish the puzzle. After this puzzle you will be prompted to do a mini-game puzzle. This involves you having to guess what cup a ball is hidden in. The game is rigged, so you will lose the first couple of times. Pay attention to the two hands when the mixing is done. The two open fingers indicate what cup the ball is in. For example, if the fingers on the left side of the right hand are open, then the ball is in the third cup. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3.006 Bunny-Hop Swap ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Location: Ledore Parlor Activation: On the right side of the screen, touch the upper part of the closet Picarats: 20 In this puzzle you are charged with turning all the white bunnies into a brown color, by jumping them over each other. Here's the grid: A1 A2 A3 A4 B1 B2 B3 B4 C1 C2 C3 C4 D1 D2 D3 D4 In this puzzle guide I will say things like A1 to A4, this means move the bunny in A1 to A4. 1. A4 to C4 2. D1 to B1 3. B4 to D4 4. C1 to A1 5. A1 to A4 6. B1 to B4 7. C4 to C1 8. D4 to D1 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3.007 A Toasty Toast ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Location: Carnival Arcade Activation: Speak to Collette Picarats: 30 This puzzle requires you to match up the people on the bottom screen with the people on the top screen and select the people that are present in both screens. Person one is flipped and the second person, the second person on the bottom screen lines up with the third on the top. Person 3 on the bottom lines up with person 1 on the top. Person 4's hair on the bottom lines up with the left side of person 2's hair on the top. Lastly, person 6's hait matches up with the tail of person 2 on top. Make sure to select people 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3.008 Carnival Colors ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Location: Carnival Square Activation: Speak to Madelaine Picarats: 20 In this puzzle you have to count how many times the pattern in the top-right corner appears in the flags on the top screen. Picarats: 35 Imagine stamping the stamp in the top left corner onto a piece of paper, how would it look? If you flip the stamp upwards you'll understand that it fits paper D. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3.010 The Place to Be! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Location: Madame Lapushka's Activation: Speak to Madame Lapushka Picarats: 30 In this puzzle you have to count how many people are in the shop. Simply count the amount of pairs of feet in the store. There are 6 pairs of feet. There are two extra heads, though, between feet one and two, and feet five and six. You must find the item without a pair. The item you need to circle is the box the clown is holding, since it doesn't have a pair. Quite clever, if I do say so myself. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3.012 Sharing the Burden ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Location: Dromedary Lobby Activation: Speak to Pascal (Hotel Clerk) Picarats: 35 This puzzle requires quite a bit of trial and error, but if you want to complete the puzzle swiftly, place luggage A, C, and F in the man's hands; and place luggage B, D, and E in the woman's hands. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3.013 Ancient Arti-facts ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Location: Classroom Activation: Speak to Mr. Collins Picarats: 35 This is a logic puzzle. Umbrella B is broken because it doesn't open. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3.018 That's Juicy! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Location: Living Room (Layton Home) Activation: Touch the blue bottle on the counter on the left side of the screen. Picarats: 30 The way to look at this is like a multiple variable equation. In this equation the big bottle will be X, the middle bottle Y, and the large bottle Z. X + 3Y + 3Z = 18 2X + 6Z = 18 4Y + 6Z = 18 Plug the numbers into a graphing calculator using matrices and you get: Large: 6L Medium: 3L Small: 1L ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3.019 Spinning Maize ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Location: Pebble Lane Activation: Talk to Esther Picarats: 25 There's no actual "solution" to this puzzle, you just have to complete the maze. Always try going upwards and you'll eventually reach the end of the maze. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3.020 Nine Red Bricks ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Location: Market Street Activation: Speak to Lionel Picarats: 40 Another logic puzzle. Lionel would only have to lift every other brick. He would lift 2, 4, 6, and 8. If 4 is heavy, then he knows it can't be 3, so 4 and 5 would be the heavy ones. Then, it lands on 9, which is 3 spaces from 12, so the ball moves 3 spaces. If you keep up with this pattern you'll find the answer to be 6. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3.038 Pattern Pending ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Location: One-Ring Circus Activation: Talk to Puck Picarats: 25 Pretty easy puzzle to solve. Circle the middle of the pole. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3.043 Evenly Matched ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Location: City Hall Steps Activation: Speak to the Policeman Picarats: 35 The grid already has numbers, so I will not redraw it. In order to get through this door just step on the switch that Randall isn't on. Continue going up from there. You'll reach Mummy Chamber 1. In order to get through here, move the boulder up. Then walk to the left and up to the next boulder. Push this one to the left. Then, move to the left and down and left again to the next boulder. Push this boulder up and then exit the room. Now there's a puzzle room. Push the boulder up, then left, then down, then right, and finally up. This will lead you to Mummy Chamber 2. Push the boulder up at the mummy. Then, move left and up to the boulder. Push this boulder to the left. Go around and push the boulder up to kill the next mummy. Then, just run to the switch. Killing the mummy is not necessary. Right when you get into the next room, dig up the first dig spot for the next puzzle! This is like two other puzzles we've already done. There's a catch, though. You can only hit one block. This is a trick puzzle, because the answer isn't one of the four given. You have to hit the crack on the very bottom block. Go up one and then go left until you are one space before the mummy. Take 2 steps down. Take one step right, then face left and dig a hole. The mummy will fall in. Then, move to the top row, so you are standing 4 spaces to the right of the final mummy. Move down 2 spaces. Then, face up and dig a hole to defeat the last mummy. Move onto the switch to activate the door. This will lead you to Puzzle Chamber 3 Go to the left-middle of the room and push the boulder to the right. Frequently Asked Questions ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Q: What are Picarats? A: Picarats are almost a currency in Professor Layton. The better you do in a puzzle, the more Picarats you will receive. Unforunately, these cannot be used in-game, instead these are used to unlock bonuses after the game is beaten. Q: Why do you not have a guide for the mini-games? A: The mini-games are just a distraction and are not necessary in the completion of the game. Therefore, I did not believe it would be beneficial to write a guide for them. Q: Where do I go if I missed a puzzle. A: Go visit Nanna Grams in the Dromedary Lobby. There you can find puzzles you missed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 5.
