Guide Overview [guo002] ========================== Atelier Annie is the fourteenth game in the series, and the sixth to make it to America. Unlike the other ones that have made it to America, it is modled after the original games, where you must man a shop while performing/learning alchemy. This guide is a compendium of all of the technical in-game matterial. As such, it is a giant set of lists and is not for the weak of heart. Much of the in-game content is vague, or simply does not exist. Items tend not to list all of the locations that they can be obtained, monster's HP is not listed in the in-game Almanac, and many of the monster drops are nigh impossible to find. If you can survive through the lists, you will be one step closer to achieving the ultimate goal: to make a lazy do-nothing girl become betrothed to the prince! ================ 3. FAQs [faq003] ================ 1. Where can I find Lizard Tails? Lizard Tails are dropped from Lizardmen, Supreme Lizards, and Lizard Kings. Lizardmen can be found in the Fruitful Forest and Crater, Supreme Lizards can be found in the Lone Island and Crater, and the Lizard Kings can be found in the Lone Island. It is recommended to try and obtain Lizard Tails in the Crater as both the Lizardmen and Supreme Lizards are found there, as well as having a much greater chance of appearing. 2. Why do I have a 0% chance of Synthesizing *insert item*? You are too low of a level to synthesize the item. Keep synthesizing to level up and gain the ability to synthesize the item. I'd recommend making items that will have later use such as items needed for a resort, or that are common in synthesis (the various metals like Platine come to mind). 3. Where do I get the mascot for *insert resort*? The mascots can be found in these locations: Spa/Park's -Quarry Bakery/Market -Ice Forest Beach/Theme Park -Basin Hotel/Aquarium - Lone Island Theatre/Museum - Fruitful Forest Please note that each of the resort "zones" have the same mascots in the same place. For the Bakery/Market's mascot, you must go to the Ice Forest three times (the event might not happen all three times, and you might have to go there more than three times). For the Hotel/Aquarium's mascot, you must give it a Magical Pom Pom. For the Beach/Theme Park's mascot, you need to give it a Fiery Puff. For the Theatre/Museum's Mascot, you must fight some (weak) monsters. For the Spa/Park's mascot, you just need to show up (:D). 4. What exactly is Special Synthesis and why do you use it? Special synthesis is used to guarantee a desired trait on a synthesized item. With the normal synthesis, you can get an attribute by the added items/Supplements, but only at an extremely low rate. This becomes critical during Assignment 5 when you have to make a Purple War Hammer in order to beat the boss and get a gold. While it is possible to do so normally, it takes a lot of luck to get it purple. 5. How do I get the Purple Supplement 4? You can get the Purple Supplement 4 by using Purple Popeye Fish for the recipe. To get Purple Popeye Fish you must go to the Fruitful Forest after reaching level 20 (combat level). When you enter, there will be a gather point close to the entrance in the center of a bunch of flowers. The Purple Popeye Fish is a rather common gather from that location. ===================== 4. Item List [itl004] ===================== Items are obtained throughout the game, and are one of the biggest (if not *the* biggest) elements of the game. With 467 of them in the game, it's a dozy to obtain them all (though, one of the endings requires that you do so). Monster List [mol005] ======================== While out in the gathering points, you will inevitably come face to face with one of the fifty monsters roaming around Sera Island. These battles can range from "ridiculously easy" to "HOLY CRAP, that guy just 1HKO'd my entire team!" Tips/Tricks [trt006] ======================= ========================== 6.01 General Tips [get6.1] ========================== 1. At the beginning of the game, you have the option of giving items to the Adventurer's Guild for large sums of money (at the time). Doing so is a great idea, as it helps bolster your funds for the rest of the game. Things like the Ionofish are especially good, as they rocket up in price, reaching 1,000 Cole very early on! However, do not take up the Adventurer's Guild's offer to get them Pure Water. It is a common synthesis item, and the amount they give pales in comparison to its value. Tetsamaru adds: "Make a ton of Pure Waters. It gets used alot. And it also seems like the most basic building block for future stuff your make. Dont have enough of item A to make Item C. Well then, lets make more of Item A. Oh...Item A requires Pure waters, which I only have 5 of. Guess I gotta make more of that before I make Item A." s1Lv3r adds: "So go to cave with gillian and Beaux. I found that doing this to young dragon produce better result, as young dragon is the weakest among the dragons. Kill all but 1 dragon, gillian should keep increasing beaux's speed whenever the juice effect wears down (one of gillian's back skill is juice, which increase someone's speed) I'm not sure if this really affect much, but I get better result with the juice effect. Keep on stealing from the dragon until you have enough dragon tongue. For the world soul, do the same thing with the water element, for some reason I get the best result from the water elements, but you can also try doing it to other elemental elements. But it should be known that you can only make 2 wisdom crystal at a time and 1 ultimate gem at a time, as they need a lot of days to be finished but it sure makes more money than azuro. azuro(5day)=pure ore(1day)+buffer(1day)+metasphere(1day) total= 8 days wisdom crystal (14 days)= dragon tongue+dunkleheit+soul water(1day) total=15days ultimate gem(15day)=azuro(8day)+wisdom crystal(15day)+millenia baum total=38days so if you make: azuro 7600/8=$950/day ultimate gem 93733/38=$2466/day" 2. Always make sure to have your Mascots gathering items. You'll always come back to your resorts eventually, and will be able to pick up the items then. If you don't like the items that the Mascot is going to bring back, just say that you don't want the items and talk to him again for a different item list. - Tetsamaru ======================== 6.02 Story Tips [stt6.2] ======================== 1. Year 3, Month 3 Day 30 is the last day of the game. I suggest taking the entire of month 3 synthing all the stuff you want. Save your biggest synth for last. When you get to day 29. Synth as many as you can of that last item. because no matter what, it wont go past day 30 anyway. Though it seems it wont go past 30 days it seems. I tried to synth 10 Azuro jewels and it only let me go up to 5 because it takes 25 days. Same for Life water. I could only make 5 items at the cost of 25 days. I guess the developers figured people would try to make 99 Azuro jewels. Because thats totally what i was trying to do. Oh well. Azuro jewels sell for alot of money, 7600 so if you make 5 on that last day. On your new game you could sell 3 of them(keeping 2 for the last asigment) for some mega starting cash. I assume the Ultimate jewel sells even more but i cant make that yet. Gonna have to try getting the neccessary stuff on my 2nd playthrough. -Tetsamaru ============================ 6.03 Synthesis Tips [syt6.3] ============================ 1. Before synthesising anything, save the game. If you fail the synthesis, you can reload the save and try again. Potentially with better results. 2. When synthesizing check how many of an item can be created in a day by raising the amount of an item that is being synthesized by one. Try and create items just under the amount that raises the "days taken" by one as much as possible. 3. Pure Water is used heavily throughout the game. Constantly create a large amount has it becomes handy to do so. Similarly, Buffers are used heavily in the later segments of the game. ============================ 6.04 Gathering Tips [gat6.4] ============================ 1. Take advantage of Beaux's back row move, Pick, it comes in handy. It's available right when you get him on your team, so there's no need to grind his level up to get it. You're able to use the move over and over on the same monster in battle. It's useful because you can cut down on the time spent walking around to encounter the monster (with a low encounter/drop rate); thus making more time to synthesize items or doing other tasks. - KFujii ========================== 6.05 Monster Tips [mot6.5] ========================== 1. Try synthing a Shooting Star as soon as possible. It'll make getting monster items soooo much easier in the long. and your beging stock piling those items that are only monster drops when you dont need them. that way when you do finally need them, you got a fair amount of them. - Tetsamaru 2. Always check the description of weapons before you buy. I personally go for weapons that have area attack on them. My annie, Gillian and Kilbert all have an area attack so it makes wiping monsters so much faster. - Tetsamaru ======================= 7. Walkthrough [wal007] ======================= Playing through Atelier Annie, while linear, can tend to get confusing. This walkthrough is made for someone going through the game for the first time, and will assume that the player only knows the very basic mechanics of the game. By following this walkthrough, you should end up with the "standard" Royal Alchemist ending. Should you desire a guide to make a complete game file, check out Fukuyasu's excellent Walkthrough found at: http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/file/953050/58211 . ============================ 7.01 First Semester [FiS7.1] ============================ After the opening cutscene you will be inside of your own personal workshop, with the instructions to make a Shop Sign. Follow Pepe's instructions and you will get a Gold for the assignment. After the insuing cutscene, visit all of the locations available to you in town (during your playthrough, you should constantly go through the entire town to unlock events and characters. While this guide will not make any assumptions about what you have done, it will help your progression through the game, and will give background about Sera Island and it's inhabitants). After familiarizing yourself with the town, it's time to get down to business. For Assignment two, you need to create an Island Map. Unlike the last assignment, you'll actually have to go out and get the materials to make the Map. Luckly all of the items can be obtained in one place, the Basin. Before going to the Basin, make sure to add peopple to your party by talking to them (Gillian and Hans are good to start with). Travel to the basin and collect everything from all of the gather points, you never know when you might need some of the items. You can also fight the monsters here to increase your level, though that is mostly unessesary, as they don't drop anything and finishing the assignment is your first priority. When back at town, check to make sure you have more than ten Pure Springs. If you don't, go back to the Basin and collect more (I would recommend gathering everything else too). The reason for this is that it takes only one day to make ten Pure Waters... the same amount of time it would take to make only one. Pure Waters are used extremely frequently in synthesis, so having large quantities of them is great, and making them in smaller-than-ten quantities will eat up the days you have in the game. Go to the Adventurers Guild and check for any jobs that you can *immediately* finish (not ones that you have to synthesise something, or something that you know where to get the items from). With your new found wealth, go to the Library and buy Alchemy 101, Alchemy of Orde, Carpentry, and if you can afford it, Cooking Alchemy. If you can't afford any of the books mentioned, just come back for them later; only Alchemy 101 is required at this point. Head back to your workshop, it's time to start becoming an alchemist! You should have all of the required materials except the Pure Waters. Thanks to Alchemy 101, you should have the recipe required to make them. Do so and you can create the Island Map. All of this should be done in a few weeks to a month. If it's before Month 5, Day 30, turn it in to Hans for a Gold Medal (and some phat stacks of cash ;P). ======================= 7.02 Free Time [frt7.2] ======================= Now that you've finished the assignment, you have until Month 9, Day 30 to do whatever you want! While not required for the ending, I would suggest creating a resort (the only ones that are really required for anything are the Bakery/Marketplace and the Hotel/Aquarium). As you've only just started and have no funds to create any of the bigger attractions, I would recommend making the Park. It's rather easy to make the items it asks for, and has a Mascot that gathers from the Quarry, a very useful thing early on. As this part really doesn't have anything that needs to be done, you can use it to figure out the mechanics of the game, and how you really want to have things done (as no guide can really tell you your style of gameplay). Instead of saying what to do, I'll just give you a list of things that can be done during this time, ranging from things that need to be done to things that are purely optional: 1. Gather 10 Black Clay from the Quarry, and synthesize them into Dark Clods. 2. Gather 10 Red Popeye Fish's from the Basin, and synthesize them into Red Suppliment 4s. 3. Complete all of the Adventurers Guild's requests (unless they're asking for Pure Waters, don't ever accept those quests). 4. Gather as many items from each of the different locations as possible. 5. Synthesize Candles, and Buffers. 6. Get the mascot for the resort. 7. Buy all of the almanacs from the Library. 8. Buy all of the books from the Library. 9. Synthesize Metaspheres, and Glass Spheres. 10. Complete as many of the resort quests as possible. As the clock gets close to Year 1, Month 10, Day 1, make sure to have completed #1, have at least 6,000 Cole, and have at least 10 Pure Waters handy. When the date is Year 1, Month 10, Day 1, head off to the Workshop to start the second semester! ============================= 7.03 Second Semester [ses7.3] ============================= For this semester, your assignment is to create weaponry for the soldiers, specifically Red Knight Spears. Depending on what you did during the free time, this can be a complete cake walk. To create the spears you'll need ten spears, ten Dark Clods, ten Pure Waters, Alchemy 102, and ten Red Suppliment 4s (with the Red Almanac if you want to guarantee the color). If you completed the first three of the recommended things to do during the free time, all you need to do is go to the Weapon Store, buy ten Spears, synthesize them into Red Spears, and turn them in to Hans. If you didn't do one or more of them, complete whichever one you didn't and then synthesize the Red Knight Spears. Turning in ten Red Spears will get you another Gold medal! ======================= 7.04 Free Time [frt7.4] ======================= As with the last free time, you have free reign over what you are going to do. Depending on how much you worked on your resort, you might have enough money to buy another Resort attraction. This time I would recommend getting the Bakery. It unlocks the Ice Forest (though, not immediately), and has an easily obtainable mascot that gathers from the Ice Forest. Quite nice indeed! For the things to be done during the free time, I'd recommend the following: 1. Gather a Belladonna, Lando, and Natural Cream. 2. Obtain 10,000 Cole, preferrably through the Adventurers Guild. 3. Unlock the Fruitful Woods (requires Annie to be lvl 5). 4. Unlock the Ice Forest (requires Annie to be lvl 10, and have either the Bakery or the Marketplace). 5. Get the mascot(s) for the resorts that don't have them. 6. Buy all of the books from the Library (but make sure to have 10,000 Cole for the third semester). 7. Complete as many of the resort quests as possible. 8. Synthesize Metaspheres and Glass Spheres. 9. Gather everything not nailed down. :P 10. Get to level 20. As you start nearing Year 2, Month 4, Day 1, make sure to have completed 1, and have either completed, or are close to completing 2. Once the date is Year 2, Month 4, Day 1, go to the workshop and start the third semester. ============================ 7.05 Third Semester [ths7.5] ============================ This semester is a bit different. Unlike all of the other Assignments given out so far, you don't really have a clue as to what you need to synthesize. Check around town and you'll find Liese, who will offer to sell you a recipe for 10,000 Cole (something to take note of, if you don't have 10,000 Cole she will lower the price to 8,000 Cole). Buy it and you will now be able to make Dolphin Pies. If you completed my first recommendation, you have all of the required materials and can immediately synthesize the Pie for a gold medal. If you still need one or more of the ingrediants, go to the General Store and buy what you are missing. If done right, you've completed the assignment on the second day it became available! ======================= 7.06 Free Time [frt7.6] ======================= During this free time you'll want to try and get as high an alchemy rank as possible. Your exact level is unknown (unless you remember all of the times that it has increased), but your rank is shown. As long as you aren't a beginner going into this, you're on course. ;P LIke the other free times, it's really up to your playstyle as to what gets done (I personally eschewed gaining levels, but did considerably more alchemy), but these are things to shoot for: 1. Get to level 20. 2. Gather a Purple Popeye Fish from the Fruitful Forest (req. lvl 20) and synthesize a Purple Suppliment 4. 3. Obtain a Skull Crystal. 4. Synthesize a Schwer Metal, and, if you are out, Pure Water. 5. Synthesize everything that you can get your hands on! >:O 6. Get a Hotel/Aquarium (I'd recommend a Hotel). 7. Unlock the Lost Island 8. Find all of the Mascot(s) that haven't been obtained yet. 9. Do more synthesizing! 10. Make sure to have a fair amount of money (5,000+ Cole should suffice). Once Year 2, Month 10, Day 1 pulls around, head over to your workshop to get the next assignment. ============================= 7.07 Fourth Semester [fos7.7] ============================= This assignment can either be a pain, or amazingly easy, based on whether or not you followed my advise. If you followed it, all you need to do is give Amalie (the Weapon Store owner) a Skull Crystal, synthesize a Purple War Hammer, and beat the boss. If you didn't follow the advice, it is a lot more complicated then it sounds. Skull Crystals are a drop from Rock Spirits, Rock Dolls, and Stray Rocks. Your best bet is to hope that you can find one in the Ice Forest, where both the Rock Spirit and Rock Doll can be found. The Purple attribute can only be found on the Purple Popeye Fish, which is found in the Fruitful Forest when Annie is level 20 or above. Once both of those are obtained, everything falls into place: give the skull crystal to Amalie, synth the Purple War Hammer, etc. After beating the boss, talk to Hans to get another Gold Medal (Make sure to have the Purple War Hammer unequipped)! ======================= 7.08 Free Time [frt7.8] ======================= Once agian, your highest priority should be to get to as high an alchemy level as possible. Buying all of the cheaper almanacs and synthesizing all of the recipes in them is a great way of increasing your level, and will help you fill up your item almanac (should you want to see the items in the almanac or replay the game). For this free time, try and complete as many of the following: 1. Have two Pure Ores, Buffers, Metaspheres, Silk, and Glass Spheres for the next semester. 2. Have 20,000+ Cole for the next semester. 3. Get as close to maxing out your synthesis level as you can. 4. Gather as much as you can (rather than specifically searching for specific items). 5. Have two Quality Suppliment 5s. ... Yes, that's everything. Make sure to have the first two done, as the next assignment will become a cakewalk with them done. When the clock switches to Year 3, Month 4, Day 1, head over to the Workshop for the final assignment. ============================ 7.09 Fifth Semester [fis7.9] ============================ The final assignment is definately a doozy. You are required to make *TWO* quality contest monuments. If you don't have any of the synthesized materials needed to make them, it will take two entire weeks to finish them (with all of the materials required for that)! To complete the assignment, head over to the Library and buy the Royal World 2 book. Then go to your workshop, synthesize two Azuros, and then the two Quality Contest Monuments! Head over to Hans to obtain the final gold medal of the game, and head into the final free time! ======================= 7.10 Free time [frt710] ======================= During this free time, your only goal is to make it to Master Rank in your alchemy. Odds are, if you've been synthesizing a bunch throughout the game you will already be close to obtaining it, and may already have it! If you plan on doing a New Game+, I'd recommend sythesizing a bunch of the common synthesis items (Schwer Metal, Pure Ore, etc.) and food items (especially Dragee, Cant Holtz, Eisen Bar, and Chocolate). If you don't plan on doing a New Game+, make as many of whatever you can before the time runs out. Once you have reached Master rank, you are home free! All that is required then is to wait until the game ends and watch the ending! Congratulations at beating the game! I would highly recommend doing a new playthrough and play the game over, without the use of an outside guide. The game is highly replayable, and each playthrough can become radically different based on your choices. =========================== 8.
