General Tips and Hints ======================================== ~ Acquire a spear and traps as quickly as possible. Meat and fish fight hunger better than vegetables. ~ Always carry a spare spear, as one may break on you during a crucial moment. ~ Ask your partner how they are doing every day, as it raises your relationship points and you may recieve useful information. ~ Always search for spices, since they increase the quality of your food greatly. ~ Recipes fill your characters up more than simply tossing everything into one mix. ~ Acquire the Oil Barrel as soon as possible, since it's extremely useful for maintaining your partner's water level. ~ Carry at least 2 bottles with you when you are travelling with your partner. ~ Wolves are an easy source of filling meat and useful materials. ~ Upgrade all your furniture; it makes surviving much easier. ~ You dont need to return to the same place your partner is in. If you go to sleep in the cave while your partner is at a treehouse, (s)he will appear in the cave with you in the morning. ~ Don't talk to the gorilla until you speak to the dying man, as you will lose the opportunity for the radio ending if you do. ~ Packed lunches help keep your partner alive while you are away. ~ Always inform your partner if you are planning to be away for a long time. They will take better care of themselves while you are gone. ~ The hotspring is a godsend when returning tired from the temple. Rest there if you are low on energy, as it may save your life. ~ Check as many areas as you can after a Tsunami, you may find rare and useful things. ======================================== 5. Walkthrough ======================================== *************** Getting Started *************** The game begins with a cutscene showing your character on the ship which is sinking. After a short scene, you get the option of selecting three places to search for something to take with. It doesn't matter which you select, because what you find is randomly placed. You can either find a bottle, nothing or a lifesaver. You regain control of you character after they have washed up on shore and your first order of business is to look for other survivors. Move your character to the right along the beach until you find the other main character. After a short dialogue, you should now be holding your partner's hand. Guide them North and a little East until you come across a mushroom. After the cutscene, move to the right of the screen until you find a river. There should be a rocky shore that you and your partner can drink water at. After this is done, head to the left and up the hill until another cutscene ensues (Women are always right, no ifs, no buts). Once this cutscene ends you should find yourself inside the cave. At this point the two characters decide to search for firewood. If you are playing as Amy, you will exit and search for firewood. You can find twigs and bark beneath the trees close to the cave. If you feel like it, you can forage close to the beach to find coconuts and a little north of the beach to find mushrooms. There are also seaweeds and clams to be found on the beach. If you are playing as Jack, you get to watch an elongated cutscene of Jack lounging around while Amy does the searching for you. Once she returns she hands you the firewood. Once you have obtained the firewood as either character, enter your menu screen (X button) and scroll down to the "Make Item" option. Combine a twig and bark together to create a Fire Starter. Return to the pit at the center of the cave and hit the A button while facing it to make a fire (See "Making a Fire" in the Mini Game section). Once the fire is started, the two characters introduce themselves. The characters decide they are hungry. If you are playing as Jack, Amy will inform you she picked up some edible things while she was getting the twig and bark. If you are playing as Amy, you get the opportunity to run out and look for food. Once you are set to cook, your character picks the large rock in the top left hand corner of the cave to cook in (See the "Cooking" section of the walkthrough to learn how to cook). Once you finish cooking, you'll enter the eating cutscene followed by some dialogue. Your characters will decide to get some shut eye after eating and once they fall asleep, you will be given the opportunity to save. After your people wake up, you have the opportunity to start exploring on your own. Your first order of business is to make sure your partner doesn't starve or freeze to death. Take your partner by the hand and lead him/her back to the river bed to get hydrated. You'll encounter some small explanatory cutscenes about what you can find. Once you've drank your fill, run back up the hill and to south of your cave to find some twigs to pick up for your fire. Return to your cave; a short cutscene of your characters complaining about the fire ensues. Congratulations! You can now stack a supply of firewood for your cave. Drop the firewood you have found into the stack (Note: you need one twig in your inventory in order to restart the fire). Restart the fire so that your partner can stay there comfortably. Once you're done, move to the left of the firewood stack and you should see a cutscene which will allow you to use the shelf (This shelf can be upgraded at a later stage to increase storage space). Exit the cave alone once you're done (You may wish to ask your partner to collect firewood or food while you're away if you wish, however they may resent you for this if they are tired or hungry). Move to the left of the cave until you see some platforms. Approaching them allows you to view a short cutscene where you character decides that (s)he can climb up the platforms. Walk up to the first platform and hit the "A" button. Move to the left and find another platform to climb up upon. Note the log in the upper left hand corner of the screen, atop a high cliff. Move south down the screen past the rock to your right and all the way south until the path loops around and up. Continue following the path North until you re-encounter the log. A short cutscene ensues after which you should be standing beside the log. Walk up to it and hit the "A" button to push it down. Take note of the cave you see; you will be returning here later. Forage some wood and food for you and your partner. You may wish to take a day or two to get accustomed to the general gameplay before moving on. Once you are ready to venture deeper into the island, carry on to the next section. *************** Beach 2 *************** You'll be gone for a little while so if you have a bottle, be sure to fill it and leave it on the shelf for your partner. You may wish to leave some coconuts as well. Exit your cave and climb up the platforms to the left (Now you can use the log you pushed as a shortcut), and enter the cave. Straight ahead of where you enter this new area (hereafter refered to as Beach 2) you will find some raspberries and twigs under a tree. Pick some of these if you wish to have some provisions for your character. Once you're ready, move to the southwest corner of the area. You should receive a cutscene after which you can jump across the river via the step stones by hitting the "A" button. Once on the other side, head south. Beneath the first tree you encounter you should find a stick. Pick the stick up; now you can make a spear! Enter your menu and select Make Item. A spear icon should now be available. If you have already picked up a rock, you may sharpen this to use as the tip of your spear. If you have not, simply select the stick in order to make a spear. Once it's made, enter your inventory and select the spear to equip it. Now you are able to spear fish to eat, which should allow you to maintain your hunger levels much better (See the "Fishing" section of the game for a complete list of fish and where to fish them). Move further south until you hit the beach. If you wish, fish a little here. Once you're satisfied, move to the left a little and then north to find some carrots. To dig a carrot up, stand over the carrot so that your character has "carrot" in a thought bubble above their head. Hit the "A" button and you will be taken to a digging screen. Move your stylus over the carrot until you have uncovered it. Once it is sufficiently uncovered, it will be put in your inventory and you will be returned to the game. Explore around this area some more to find more carrots and possibly another stick. Run Northeast until you find a pasage way north. Follow it along to receive a small cutscene of your character experiencing high anxiety while looking down into a crevass. Keep moving north to find some platforms. Follow the platforms along to discover another log to push. Now you have a shortcut to carrots if you desire them. *************** Teamwork *************** On the far left side of Beach 2 you will find another series of platforms you can climb. Climb up them and navigate your way around, taking a left at the first fork. At the second fork, take a right and follow the series of platforms across until you push down a log. Now you can reach the second cave (which is coming up) by simply going north after crossing the step stone river. Go back all the way to the fork and this time take a left. Follow the path along until you reach a cave. Your character will notice there is a large boulder in the way which (s)he cannot move alone. Head back to the cave and when you and your partner have enough energy head back to the rock. You'll enter a cutscene where the pair move the rock together. After they are done, they will return to the cave (Note: If you are playing as Jack, an additional cutscene of Amy losing her necklace will play out. When you wake up the next morning, Amy begins to cry due to the stress and frustration she has been experiencing over the past few days. Jack, wanting to cheer her up, decides to make her a necklace to replace the one she has lost. You will gain the possibility to make an accessory at this point). If you are playing as Amy the next morning Jack will run off angry and disappear for the day. Amy decides to make him a necklace to cheer him up. You will recieve the ability to make an accessory at this point. *************** Cavern and Beach 3 *************** Once you are prepared, head back to the cave and enter it. Inside you'll encounter a small cutscene and find a source of drinkable water. You'll find this source very helpful in later parts of the game. Carry on through the cave and exit to Beach 3. As you exit, you'll see a cutscene where you experience your first earthquake. After this point, earthquakes will happen periodically during your stay on the island. If this was not enough excitement, you shall also spot your first wolf. From this point, if you travel around this area at night time you will be confronted with wolves (which may not be so bad. They are an easy source of valuable materials, such as lard, fur and wolf meat). Muster up your courage and approach the wolf and battle it! (See my section on Fighting for tips on defeating enemies). Sadly, this wolf is cheap and doesn't drop anything nice for defeating it. Continue south down to the beach, where you will see the remains of your poor sunken ship. Travel to the left after the cutscene to unearth a bottle on the beach. You may now use this bottle to store water in for journeys or to supply your partner with water. Once you find the bottle, head back up where you found the wolf and head to the left. Your character will notice a wild pig sniffing around. You do not yet have the means to capture it, so continue up the ricks leading up the cliff. Once you get to the top, you'll find a tiger guarding the passage to the next zone. You have no choice at this point but to return home and hope he wont be there the next day. Head back to the cave and tell on the big mean tiger to your partner. They come up with the bright idea to create traps to capture animals. The next morning when you wake up, your partner will run off depressed. Your character will run out and try to look for your partner. You'll find yourself at the start of Beach 2 and your partner will be under attack from an alligator. You will have to battle it in order to save your partner. Once you have chased the alligator off, the two of you will head back to the cave. Upon entering the cave, you will be hit with another earthquake. After the earthquake, there will be some discussion about the tiger you found earlier. *************** Discoveries *************** Once you're ready to move out, head all the way back to where you found the tiger (be sure to leave enough food and water to sustain your partner, it may help to tell them you'll be gone for a while). The tiger will be gone and you'll be able to proceed into the Jungle. While in the jungle, be sure to collect at least one vine and one log. When you pick up a vine, you'll learn how to make a bow, a fishing rod, and arrows. You'll also be able to dig for worms in the same way you've been searching for spices. Run North at the first crossroads until you encounter a log. Push the log you see northwards until it rests against a wall. Climb up and pick up a Guava (this fruit is essential in making a Fruit Salad - See the "Recipes" section). Once you are satisfied, head back to the crossroads and take the eastern road until you hit another log. Push this log North until it hits a wall, climb up and take the platforms up on the left side, loop around and push the log down. You're done with this area for now. Head back down to the ground level and continue to the right until you see a cutscene about the fruit. Continue east until you enter the next area. Move south past the raspberries and pass between two rocks. Move to the right to enter a bamboo grove. Pick up as many green bamboo stems as you can possibly carry, as these will be your best meal ticket for a long time. Once you are done with this, head back to the jungle. Return to the crossroads and go north again (BEWARE: if it is night time, you can and will be ambushed by wolves, sometimes up to three one after the other. This is pretty dangerous if you aren't prepared, but an excellent source of materials if you're ready for them). Keep pushing North until you see a passageway into a new area and after a brief cutscene, jump across the river and hug the river right to get to a riverbed. In the riverbed you'll find something buried. Uncover it to discover a bowl. Head up North while climbing some platforms until you reach a large tree. Your character will consider building a treehouse here. Return to your cave with the spoils you have found and prepare to be overwhelmed with how much you can improve the quality of your living. You are now able to make the following: Baskets can be woven by your partner, rope can be woven by your partner; you can use said baskets to make small traps (lay one right outside your cave - instant meat meals every day!). Rope can be woven by your partner, you are able to make a larger shelf at long last, you now have a work area inside your cave, you have the choice of either building beds for you and your partner or to make a table to work and eat on, you can now make soup, steamed food, and (if you have lard on you) deep fry things. After the excitement of they day, you may retire and begin making provisions for your next grand adventure! ***Note: At this point of the story, it may be wise to take time to upgrade your situation. I advise to have all the furniture completed, the jerky shelf completed, the tree house completed, a chicken and goat captured, the barrel acquired and lots of food and provisions on hand. The next few sections will require several days worth of travel both alone and with your partner. Failure to prepare adequately will end in the characters' deaths*** *************** Into the Swamp *************** Once you are prepared, head to the south entrance of the jungle, head right on the crossroads and climb up the log you pushed earlier. Run forward and climb up the second log you pushed over. Instead of climbing straight up, walk to the right of the log and pull yourself up onto the ledge to the right. Continue to the right until you run into the tiger again. This time you can't run away, so prepare to battle the tiger. Once you have defeated the tiger, it is safe to proceed onwards. Run up North and push the log down off the ledge, then turn around and enter the swamp. After a short cutscene, you will be trudging knee deep in the swamp (Note: You can only walk in this swamp due to the viscosity of the swamp water). Continue right until you hit a crossroad, taking the north fork and climb up onto the island. Travel to the bottom of the island and push the log down into the swamp. Logs act as make-shift bridges for this swamp, so you can now cross over the gap that was there. Instead of dropping down onto the log, turn around and head north and into the swamp again. Continue forward until you reach another fork, then take the left arm and climb up onto the island. On the right side of the island there is a log that you can push down. Drop down onto the log and into the swamp North of the log. Head north a little to meet an old friend... After having defeated the alligator, continue right and climb onto the island to the right. Move down to the bottom left hand corner of the island and push the log down. Continue South until you reach the only island you can access, so climb up the ledge and continue south until you see a log on the right hand side. As with all logs, push it into the water. Before dropping down, about face and find the log on the left side of the island. Drop that one into the water, then go back to the log on the right. Drop into the swamp north of the log and follow it across to a large island with Taros growing on it. Continue north on this island until you reach a HUGE log. Your character decides they will need aid in pushing this log down into the water. Go back to the island where you pushed a log off of both sides, drop down onto the log on the left side of the island and drop into the swamp to the south of the log. Continue west and onto another island. Travel to the far left side of the island to find another log that requires 2 people to push it. Return to your home base (cave or treehouse) and prepare to take your partner through this dump. *************** Into the Swamp 2 *************** Once you and your partner are adequately prepared, take your partner to the swamp. Once you navigate back to the island with the two logs on either side, take the log to the right first and push the large log on the island off. Drop down onto the log and head North to enter the Lake area. The characters decide they will need to build a raft in order to move forward. Go back to the sawmp (yes, I know, but you must) and drop back into the swamp. Head to the island directly west of the one you were on and climb onto it. In the south end is another log to push. Now you have a viable shortcut to the Lake. Once done with this, go back to the island with a log on either side. This time take the left log and return to the other large log that required pushing. Push that log and follow the swamp first east then south to reach a large island to the south. Exit into a new area. You exit onto the top of a cliff in Beach 2. Push the log you see down to open up a new passage back to your cave. At this point, I suggest regrouping at your cave (even if you have a treehouse, the cave is a better option for now) and prepare for tomorrow night when you'll try to take over the...lake... *************** Row Your Boat *************** The next goal is to build a raft to traverse the lake. To operate the raft both characters must be present. However, I advise building the raft first and then returning with adequate supplies at a later time to explore. The raft requires 6 logs and 4m of rope to complete and is built in 3 parts. My suggestion is to simply tote all 6 logs and the rope to the building site and build it all in one go. Once you're ready, head back through to Beach 2 and up to the swamp and return to the raft building site (See "Raft 1" in the building section of this walkthrough). After building the raft, I would suggest going back home and preparing for a long trek together. You may wish to pack lunches and maybe grab some jerky and bottled water before setting out. Grab your partner and escort them back to your shiney new raft. Once you are both on it, I suggest you hit the left shoulder button to bring up your map. Paddle south to the beach on the crescent shaped island and disembark. Run to the southernmost tip and push a boulder over into the water. Return to your raft and paddle east, then North, until you hit a beach on the right hand side. Run over to the right and climb up two platforms to discover the hotspring. The hotspring will increase your energy (which at this point should be very helpful). Climb back down to the ground level and continue north. Avoid the tiger blocking the exit in the north for now and instead continue left to the beach. Your characters will be able to uncover a Flat Rock which allows you to Stir Fry. Continue west and push the boulder at the end of the island. Once you are feeling brave enough, walk up to the tiger and face him once more. Before pressing on, return to the south bank and exit via the passage south. Make your way down the platforms and exit via the south passage again. Move to the west and push the block into the water. By now the place should be looking familiar to you. Use the block to cross the river and to find yourself back at your cave. Once you're inside, you'll feel another earthquake and discuss the possibility of a volcanic eruption. Your partner will also notice the necklace you gave them is missing. Rest up for the day. *************** Missing Necklace *************** If you are playing as Amy, Jack will comment that he lost his necklace while you were travelling. Take him by the hand and lead him across the stepping stones in the river by your cave. Enter the next area. In the next area, climb up the platforms to the right until you recieve a cutscene where she finds the necklace. If you are playing as Jack, he will comment that there are squirrel tracks in the cave. Lay a small trap outside and capture a squirrel; you will find the necklace with it. Return to the cave and give Amy her necklace back. *************** Temple of Rooms *************** Return to where you fought the tiger near the lake and enter the area to the North. You will enter into a temple. After a short cutscene, run forward and push the two red blocks two spaces forward each. A door should open; proceed to the next room. Push the second black block from the bottom on the left side twiceNow push the bottom red block onto the red goal tile, then push the top red block onto the top red goal tile. Proceed to the next room. The next room is a little tricky. First off, leave Jack at the start of the level. The room should look something like this: The trick in this room is to have the room do the work for you. Push the first black block you see forward once. Run out to the ledge and jump North (yes, you can jump it, trust me). Move the black block ahead of you all the way to the right. Run around to the black block south of the goal tile and push it onto the goal tile. Then, move to the left side of this block and push it to the right. Run around to the red block there and push it to the nearby goal tile. Next, run down the path to move the red block south and climb onto it, drop down between the two red blocks and push the left red block out to the left. Climb onto this block and drop to the north of it. Now you can push it down and left onto the goal tile. Go back tonorth a little and jump over to the other side. Push the final tile into place and then back track all the way to your partner. Grab them by the hand and run back to the previous room. When you re-enter this room, you will notice that all the black blocks have been moved for you and you and your partner can just calmly pass by. Next room you come across, immediately push the brown block forward until it's against a wall. Climb up onto it and then onto the platform, then climb down off the left side. Note the door to the left, you cannot open it yet. Instead, continue North and over the platform...uh-oh...more blocks. Thankfully, this is a simple one. Simply position yourself to the left of the block and push it to the right until it reaches its goal tile. Use the red block to climb onto, then continue onto the large boulder. Continue to the platform north of the boulder and run North to find a red block. Push the red block once to the left to open the door. In the next room, climb up all the platforms then back down again. Push the brown boxes north and out of the way. Then climb over one of the red boxes and push it towards the center, get to the south end of it and push it forward. Repeat this with the other box and then continue to the next room. You're FINALLY done all the puzzle rooms...after a short cutscene, run to the right of the room to find drinkable water. Through the door on the left side of the room, you can get back to the start of the temple (but of course that door couldn't have been open when we got here -_- that would've been too easy!). Regroup at your cave before going North, because the next area will need a lot of exploring. *************** Groundbreaking *************** Once you're ready, head back to the temple and exit on the North side. After a little spat, you will emerge into a field. Travel Northeast to find a beach with a lifeboat on it. After viewing the cutscene, travel to the westmost point of the field to find another tree, where you can build a treehouse. Next, head back home for some rest. Take the long route through the temple, and when you're in the last room, you'll experience a very strong earthquake. Continue to Beach 4 to notice that the earthquake pushed the raft back into the ocean. Head back through the temple the long way to notice that the door that was broken now is gone. Go through and find....more blocks to push! Climb up the box to the north, onto the platform, then drop down north onto another box and then drop to the left. Carry on left and jump into the gap between the black boxes. Push the top black box upwards and then move to the left and climb over the red block. Push the black block to the left of the red block up one, then climb back over to the north side of the red block. Next, push the red block down one square, then climb over it and drop down to the right side of the red box. Push the red block once to the left, then climb back over to the north side. Push the red block downwards until it is on top of the goal tile. In the next room you'll view a sad scene with a fellow survivor. (If you have Mugwort on you he'll live longer) Continue left through a series of rooms until you exit out to another area. Climb to the very pinnacle of the mountain on the left hand side. After all your adventures, go tell your partner what has transpired. *************** Underground Lake *************** Note: This is not essential to the game, however you can fish for some very rare and tastey fish here. Head to Beach 2, going to the far left side and wait for the tide to go down. Once it's sufficiently down, cross to the other side and enter the doorway at the end of the pathway. Inside you will find an undergroud complex. Enter the east most door first. Huzzah! More blocks...and here we thought we were done with them. Push the first block you encounter up one space, then move down to the bottom right hand coner of your platform and jump across to the one on the right. Push this block one down and one to the left. Jump south again and climb over to the left side of the block and push it to the right once. Jump to the North platform again, then jump across to the right onto a little platform, and then right again onto a larger platform. Jump to the right one last time to end up on a box. Jump North from the box and push the block you see one forward and one to the right. Jump across to the platform on the left, then follow the platform along and push the block north one square. Climb up onto the block and drop down on the left side. Push the block off the edge of the platform onto the pink tile below. Jump to the North platform and continue through the door. You'll find an underground lake with some tastey fish in it. Exit through the southern door closest to the lake and go to the left most door. In this room, go north and push the block one to the right. Afterwards, go to the southwestern corner of the room and push the block one ot the left. Go to the north western corner of the room and push the second block from the top on the right side inwards twice. Move north and push the red block one to the left. Move to the southeastern corner of the room, then push the second block from the bottom on the left side in twice, and move south and push the red block one to the right. You now have uncovered the underground lake. Some of the best fish come from here. *************** Ending: The Lifeboat *************** Head to Beach 3 and your character will find the raft you saw at Beach 4. Run back to your home and tell your partner. Make sure you have Map A (obtained from diving in Beach 4), and an inexorable amount of food (10 packed lunches and 4 bottles of water worked for me) Grab your partner and run out to the raft, and if you're ready, hop on. *************** Ending: The Radio *************** Head to the south Jungle entrance. Run to the first fork and take a right, as if going to the swamp. Climb up the log and then go straight ahead and climb the second log. Climb up the ledge to the right of the log, then run up North and drop down onto the log to the left. Follow the path until you see a gorilla. If you are playing as Amy, you will be able to befriend the gorrilla by yourself. If you are playing as Jack, you need to have Amy tag along. Talk to the gorilla and he will want something from you. If he has an exclamation mark over his head, give him a necklace. If he has a green cursor over his head, give him a banana. If he has a blue cursor, give him a coconut or water. After that, he will grunt and you have to imitate him. Come back and do this for 4 consecutive days. On the fifth day, you will recieve a radio. Once you have obtained the radio, go back to the room you found the dying man in the temple and go through the passages to the left to reach the mountain again. Climb to the highest point, and here, your character will Radio for help. When they ask you where you are, say "Volcano". You and your partner will be rescued. *************** Ending: The Raft *************** Take your character to the volcano (the cliff you climb after going left past the dead guy) between 10:00 AM and 11:15 AM, as there is a boat that swims past. Go back to the cave and inform your partner of your discovery. Take your partner to Beach 4 and they'll decide to build the raft there (See "Raft 2" in the building section of this walkthrough). Once you have built the raft, take your partner with you and launch the raft between 10:00 AM and 11:15 AM. *************** Ending: Helicopter *************** Take your character to the volcano (the cliff you climb after going left past the dead guy) at 5:00 PM, as there is a helicopter that flies by. Go back and inform your partner of your discovery. The next day, get to the same point with your partner, and have a fire starter, twigs and 2 logs. The helicopter will see you and you will be rescued. *************** Ending: The Pillars *************** Grab a torch and one or two twigs and enter the ruins. There are 3 hidden doorways that can be opened via holding a lit torch to a unlit light on the wall. (1) Ruins room with the drinkable water; go south of the pool of water and look on the right wall where the path turns to the left. (2) Past the room with the dying man, take the lower passage to the left. Carry on left until you see another unlit lantern to the south. (3) Carry on past lantern 2 going north, follow the path around and then North until you see the 3rd lantern to the right. Light that and go inside to find a pillar. Once you discover the first torch, do not light it right away. Go back, rest up and when you're ready, bring yourself, your partner, 2-3 torches a bunch of twigs and perhaps a spare fire starter. Head back to the room with the pillar. Make sure to have your room map set on your upper screen. Light the first pillar and you should see another pillar marked on the above map. Travel to the place specified on the map and light the next pillar and make sure you do this for all 5 pillars. REMEMBER YOU MUST LIGHT ALL 5 PILLARS BEFORE 6:00 PM. The locations for the pillars are: (1) Inside the ruins past the dying man. (2) Inside the ruins near the north exit in a hidden room south of a water pool. (3) In the south of the center island of the inland lake. (4) On an island near the North east part of the swamp. (5) The last pillar is tricky. It is located in an area in the jungle which has been inaccessable until now. Take your partner, supplies (torch, twigs, fire starter) to the bottom right hand corner of the jungle. If you are playing as Amy, bring along 9m of rope and if you are playing as Jack, bring a bow and arrows. ======================================== 6. Cooking & Recipe Guide ======================================== There are 6 forms of cooking in Lost In Blue 2: Cutting, Grilling, Soup-making, Steaming, Deep Frying, Stir Frying. Each method of cooking will require you to do a different mini-game, with recipes demanding as many as 3 different methods of cooking for one recipe. *************** Cutting *************** When you choose to cut something, the mini-game involved requires you to move your stylus in vertical motions across the lower screen of your DS. For maximum success, move the stylus up and down on the screen as rapidly as possible, being sure to cover the entirety of the displayed food with slices. *************** Grilling *************** When you choose to grill a foodstuff, the minigame involved requires you to draw tight, clockwise circles around the pieces of food you are grilling. The time you take to flip over all the food pieces depends on what you are cooking. For vegetables, I would reccomend roughly 4-5 seconds maximum cooking time, for fish and seafood, no longer than 10 seconds, and for meats, no longer than 15 seconds. *************** Soup-making *************** When you make soup, the mini-game requires you to stir the soup clockwise for a set period of time. Place your stylus on the outer portion of the soup and stir at a deliberate speed, being careful not to spill the soup by moving the stylus outside the rim of the soup. *************** Steaming *************** When you steam a food, the mini game involved requires you to blow into the microphone of your DS. Time your blowing so that the blue cursor on the right hand side of the screen remains at the top part of the blue box on the meter. If your cursor ventures higher than the blue box, you burn your food, and if it ventures lower, then your food is undercooked. *************** Deep Frying: *************** When you deep fry food, the mini game involved requires you to touch pieces of food in a certain order specified at the beginning of the mini game to remove them from the oil. The speed at which you remove the food depends on the type of food cooked. If you are making vegetables, (tempura, fries) then it is best to remove all the vegetables before the 6 second mark. If you are cooking seafood or meat, it is safe to leave them in up to the 10 second mark. *************** Stir-Frying *************** Similar to cutting, Stir Frying requires you to move your stylus diagonally across the screen as rapidly as possible. If you take too long to stir the food sufficiently, it will be burnt. The game ends when you have stirred enough. *************** Recipes *************** ~ Egg Salad: It would sure be nice between two slices of bread, but it's pretty good on it's own. Building Guide ======================================== There are many things you can build in Lost In Blue 2 that make your life easier. The building minigame works as follows: - Firstly, you may have to "chop" pieces of wood by running your stylus along certain designated areas - Secondly, you have to piece the furniture together by first rotating the piece until it fits into the rest of the frame. - Finally, you will need to nail the furniture down by tapping the stylus down on the screen on top of two moving cursors when they overlap. Here are the ingredients needed for all the things that can be built: *************** Table *************** Stage 1: - Log x 1 - Rope x 2 Stage 2: - Log x 1 - Rope x 2 Stage 3: - Log x 2 - Rope x 2 Stage 4: - Log x 2 - Rope x 2 Stage 5: - Log x 2 - Rope x 2 - Fur x 3 Total: - Log x 8 - Rope x 10 - Fur x 3 *************** Shelf *************** Stage 1: - Log x 1 - Rope x 1 Stage 2: - Log x 2 - Rope x 2 Stage 3: - Log x 4 - Rope x 3 Total: - Log x7 - Rope x 6 *************** Bed *************** Stage 1: - Log x 2 - Rope x 1 - Leaf x 6 Stage 2: - Log x 2 - Rope x 2 - Leaf x 6 Stage 3: - Log x 2 - Rope x 3 - Fur x 4 Total: - Log x 6 - Rope x 6 - Leaf x 12 - Fur x 4 *************** Jerky Shelf *************** Stage 1: - Log x 1 - Rope x 1 *************** Treehouse *************** Stage 1: - Log x 4 - Rope x 4 Stage 2: - Log x 4 - Rope x 4 Stage 3: - Log x 4 - Rope x 4 Stage 4: - Log x 4 - Rope x 4 Stage 5: - Log x 3 - Rope x 3 Stage 6: - Log x 3 - Rope x 3 Stage 7: - Log x 3 - Rope x 3 - Leaf x 10 Total: - Log x 25 - Rope x 25 - Leaf x 10 *************** Raft 1 *************** Stage 1: - Log x 2 - Rope x 1 Stage 2: - Log x 2 - Rope x 1 Stage 3: - Log x 2 - Rope x 2 Total: - Log x 6 - Rope x 4 *************** Raft 2 *************** Stage 1: - Log x 3 - Rope x 3 Stage 2: - Log x 3 - Rope x 3 Stage 3: - Log x 3 - Rope x 3 Stage 4: - Log x 3 - Rope x 3 Stage 5: - Log x 3 - Rope x 3 - Fur x 6 Total: - Log x 15 - Rope x 15 - Fur x 6 ======================================== 8. Battle Guide ======================================== There are many foes that you face in the Lost In Blue world, and the same basic system applies to all of them. In the battle screen, you face your opponent dead on with an arrow pointing left or right in their respective sides of the screen. When the animal you are fighting strikes, you can dodge out of range and counter. Unless you have a bow and arrow, this is the only way to inflict damage upon your enemy. If you do have a bow and arrow, then you can simply shoot at your opponent from a distance. The quality of your weapon will affect how much damage you can inflict on your opponent and will also determine if the weapon will break after combat. For example, the weakest weapon available (with the exeception of your fists) is Bamboo Spear A. As a rule of thumb, all bamboo weaponry is generally weaker than the wooden ones. However, some overlap occurs as a Bamboo Spear C with a Bone Spearhead will certainly be a better weapon than a plain Wooden Spear A. The strongest, most damaging spear is naturally an Iron Spear. All opponents do a fairly clear wind up move before attacking, and upon seeing it, tap either the left or right arrow on the DS screen with your stylus or tap left or right on your D-Pad to dodge. Once you have successfully dodged the attack, tap your opponent with your stylus to attack, or hit the A button. If you are using the bow and arrow, hit the A button to fire arrows regardless of your position with respect to the opponent. Some enemies will be tougher than others. Wolves are fairly weak; you may even wish to dispatch them with your fists. Alligators are quite hardy beasts, as they have a lot of defense and are best poked with an Iron Spear. Tigers are the hardest of enemies; they will sometimes swipe to either side of them upon attacking, and if you happen to be on that side when you dodge, you'll promptly be whacked and be unable to deliver an attack for that round. Iron Spears or Bow and Arrow are best for this beast. ======================================== 9. FAQs ======================================== Q: I can't catch a goat, or any other animal in the savannah...they never seem to appear? A: Are you currently residing in the tree house? If you are, that would be the explanation. Large game tends to shy away from the savannah if you are living there. Q: I can't find the Oil Drum!! Please help! A: This is a common problem for LIB2 players. Firstly, you must be after your first Tsunami. Wait for another one to strike and the next day, head out to Beach 3. Collect all the items on the Beach (including the coconuts nearby). You don't need to keep all this, but be sure to pick up everything. After that, exit the area (entering your inventory is not enough) and then return to Beach 3 and it should be there. If it isn't, then come back the next day to find it waiting for you. Q: I took my partner to the tree house, but (s)he won't inhabit it, (s)he acts as if they were outside. A: Your partner won't recognize any new dwelling as a dwelling until you have spent the night there. Q: How do I capture large game? A: Firstly, make a large trap (1 stick + 1 vine), grab a bow and arrows and head out to the jungle or savannah. Once you have spotted an animal, approach it carefully, being sure to give it room. If you get too close, it will get frightened and run away. Animals generally move in a large circle if left alone; so stand back and observe their movement pattern until you are certain of where they will move next. Lay the trap and wait for the animal to fall into it (you can only place an individual trap once, so be sure before you lay it). Once the animal is caught, run close to it and hit the "Y" button with the bow equipped to enter the shooting mode. Once in this mode, fire away at the animal until it dies. Congratulations! You have caught your first big game. Q: Why is my partner always angry at me? A: What you say in dialogues has impact on your relationship and so does making sure that your partner is fed, warm and has enough to drink. Asking your partner to gather food or supplies early on in the game will have a negative impact on your relationship. Until you are able to make accessories for your partner, tough it out and bring firewood, food and water back to your cave yourself. Q: Which mushrooms are safe to eat? A: Each game is different, so you'll have to experiment. ======================================== 10. Diving ======================================== Once you arrive at Beach 4, head to the far north end of the beach during low tide. You'll be able to cross onto a rock in the middle of the water and you will acquire the possibility of diving. Diving itself is fairly tricky, it requires you to draw upside down "U"s in order to progress through the water. If you stop drawing the "U"s your character will begin to float back to the top. Resist the temptation to make the "U"s as quickly as possible. A deliberate, slow pace is the best way to go. Every so often, once you've dove down enough, you will see a "Hold Breath" arrow appear next to your air remaining icon at the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Touch this icon and wait until the shark below you swims by before proceeding. Once you have reached the 10m mark, you will be able to sift through the sand at the bottom of the ocean. Many things are to be found here including all sorts of shelled sea food, stones and most importantly...maps. There are 3 diving locations, each that contain a map you can unearth: Map A: Beach 4. Map B: Beach 3. Map C: Beach 1. Map D: From the Gorilla. ======================================== 11. Picture Book ======================================== *************** Tools *************** 1.
