Getting started! [GSTART] ******************************************************************************* In total you can create four characters, each one will go through the same sequences described in 2.1 - 2.3. You won't have to actively play with the other characters. It's enough to create them to reap the benefits. Each character has it's own space in the wardrobe and safe. Use this to store even more items. Each character can participate in the festivals, use this to get more items from the festival. And of course each character has it's own bankaccount. Put money in each bankaccount, then let the other characters sleep for weeks and months. They will still earn interest for the deposited money. The following sections will take you through the first steps of the game, from creating a char to the point where Principal Sol will give you the Mystery Key. ********* 2.1 Enrolling in school! [ERIS] ******************************************************************************* Start the game and choose the option Enroll to create your character. The game takes you into the Room of the Beginning and End to Principal Sol. He welcomes you and asks you for your name, your birthday, your gender and which school you want to attend. He also let's you choose the appearance of your character. There is a barber shop in town, so you won't be stuck forever with your haircut. When you are satisfied with your appearance and the data you gave you will be warped into the dormitory where Reginald is already waiting for you. ********* 2.2 A quick tour through the dormitory! [QTD] ******************************************************************************* Reginald is a pumpkin headed man and in charge of the dorm. He lives behind the counter and gives you helpful tips for the life in town. He'll also notify you whenever Principal Sol wishes to talk to you. But right now he'll shows you your room in wich you will live for the next year. Reginald is also a very nice man who gives you a house warming gift. A beige wardrobe. It might not be the greatest gift you've ever got but for now keep it and put it in your room. Press L or tap on the symbol in the upper left corner, then drag the wardrobe into the room. Stand next to it and press B to move and turn the wardrobe till you found the best place for it. Doesn't your room look great now? Blue striped carpet and wallpaper and a beige wardrobe. Lovely. Fear not - there's a shop in town where you can purchase furniture and items to decorate your room after your own taste. But right now there's nothing left to do in your room. If you want to have a quick look at your town map then press SELECT and tap on the purple house symbol. Tap on the icons on the map to see what it is and who lives there. Once you're done leave the room. While you're there check out the dormitory. You will find several doors in the dormitory as well as a trash bin and a conservatory. The game allows you to create four characters, each character will move into a room with a colored door. You can enter the rooms of the other players or use them for yourself. Use them as storage or extra room. On the right side of each dorm is a brown door which is closed most of the time. You can open the door directly after you start playing again. But not now. If you can open the door you will be randomly warped into the appartment of a fellow student. On the right side of the first floor you'll find a trash bin. Oddly enough you open it by pressing A. The trash bin will never be emptied, so use it to store stuff. The purple door on the first floor takes you to the room of an exchange student. On the second floor you'll find what looks like an elevator. This is the Gateway of the Beginning and End. Use it to activate Mystery Time, to travel abroad or allow visitors into your town and to save the game. To get your friend code enter the communication rooms and there ask about your friend code. Go up the stairs and you'll be in the conservatory. Decorate it with flowers and furniture you bought at Daisy's and Harrows. Come here with fellow students to learn or drink tea. Remember to water the flowers you planted in this room. Berry bushes and trees won't grow here. When you saw enough go and talk to Reginald. Tell him that you've seen enough of the dorms and he'll takes you to the school. Before leaving you, Reginald reminds you of coming back to the dorm to collect your schoolarship funds. ********* 2.3 Your first day in school! [FDS] ******************************************************************************* Principal Sol is waiting for you, so hurry in. After greeting you Principal Sol takes you up to the classroom. He gives you your first wizard's hat and a magic staff! Finally, you're a wizard/witch! Now find you a seat and listen closely what principal Sol tells you. Once the class is over you're free. The game releases you from it's grab and let's you decide what you want to do. You can save the game, go and explore the town, talk to your fellow students or take more lessons. The blue speaking bubbles over the head of your fellow students will give you clues about what they want to speak with you and in what mood they are. Introduce yourself to the other students, then leave the room. Do you remember what Principal Sol just told you? That he will teach you the basics of the game? He still stands outside of the class room, so talk to him again and take the next class with him. About staffs. You will have to take the 8 basic lessons with Principal Sol before you can take regular classes to learn spells. Before I summarize the basic lessons I'll tell you what happens during a class. What happens during a class: ============================ - The teacher will tell you about the subject of the class. - A student might pass you a note. You can read it or not. If the teacher catches you reading a note he will ask you a question about the subject of the class. - At the end of each class the teacher will ask one question. To answer it press A. If you don't want to answer it wait a bit till the teacher chooses a random student. It could be you or one of the other 3 students. If you answered the question correctly every student will commend you and you'll get a note on your attendance sheet. If you gave the wrong answer the students will be dissappointed with you and you won't get a note in the attendance sheet. - After each class the teacher will give you a stamp on your attendance sheet to confirm that you attended the class. This isn't true for the basic classes. Remember that you can repeat classes by speaking to the teacher and choosing "past class". With that out of the way we go straight back to principal Sol and his lessons. The 8 basic lessons: ==================== - To transform your staff press the R button. - Shops are closed during certain hours and you need money to buy things. - Magic linguistics are used for spells and talking to creatures. They are sorted into 6 categories. - Rotate clockwise to transform a wizard. Rotate anti-clockwise to transform back. Spells always begin with the magic rune. - Incantations always begin always with the incantation rune. - Press START to bring up your wizard chart. Collect 10 small stars to get one big star. For every big star you get a present from principal Sol. To get stars solve mysteries and attend classes. - To exchange students bring them to the Gateway of the Beginning and End. Or go alone to visit another town or to invite someone into your town. - To learn a song listen for a while until you get the message that you learned the song. Now you can play the song on an instrument or whistle it. To find out the title of the song talk to Piquard in Harrows. You can also order the song there. Now you've finished all basic lessons you can start taking lessons from the regular teachers, Mister Oakley who teaches you spells, Miss Strawe who teaches you incantation and Mister Vlad who teaches you magic linguistics used for talking with creatures. The spells, incantations and linguistics are listed in section 5. The teacher on duty will change every new hour. You will only have 3 new classes each week. Classes will change every Sunday. ********* 2.4 Exploring the school! [EXSO] ******************************************************************************* On the first floor you'll find the teachers lounge, the toilets which are strictly seperated for boys and girls and the message board. Let's have a look into the teacher's lounge on the left side of the hall. Here you'll find Miss Strawe, Mister Oakley and Mister Vlad. If you talk to them they give you good advise and let you check your attendance sheet. Additionally each teacher will allow you to alter one thing related to the school. Mister Vlad will let you change the school uniform which all students have to wear. Perhaps you already noticed that girls wear a red jacked and boys a blue jacket? Mister Vlad allows you to decide what uniform everyone should wear. Miss Strawe allows you to redecorate the school room. Buy chairs, desks, carpets and wallpapers at Harrows and give them to Miss Strawe. Think twice, once you give Miss Strawe an item you won't get it back. And you can only give her items that are designed for school. Finally Mister Oakley let's you adjust the timetable to your needs. School can start either at 8am and end at 8 pm or start at 0 pm and end at 12pm. Back in the hall you'll notice a message board on the right side of the door. Leave messages for other players and read the news about your town, events and special sales. Check it daily. On the right side of the stairs you'll find the restrooms. Girls can only enter the girls restroom, boys only the boys restroom. If you fail to save the game before turning off the DS several times Reginald will make you clean the toilets. If you want to meet the Phantasm go to the restroom. Go upstairs and then take the left stairs. You will enter the trophy room. Whenever you solved a mystery you'll get a trophy which is put on the shelves and the book updates itself with your newest adventures. Go back and take the right stairs to enter the auditory. Evaluations will be held on the stage. During Mystery Time fellow students will hold a garage sale here. 2 random students will offer 2 random furniture from their houses for trade. The item you offer will have to be of the same size and value. An item that is two spaces big can only be traded for an item that is two spaces big and roughly of the same size. Next to the auditory you'll find a room stuffed full with strange things. The skeleton that hangs there and snores is Mister Grave. He wakes up during Mystery Times and holds extracurricular lessons on the place south of the fountain. The big organ allows you to play music and to compose your own town tune. The town tune can be heard every full hour and whenever a class starts and ends. The locker holds one pattern for trousers, skirt, jacket and robe. You can design your own clothes and allow your friends to wear them. Of course you can wear those clothes yourself, but remember, if your dressed in your own patterns and decide to wear a clothe bought from Vivian's Boutique the clothe will return to the locker and not go into your inventory. There's a rumor going around about a mysterious figure which only shows up on clear Saturday nights. Opening Times: all day Timetable: either from 8am to 8pm or from 0pm to 0am ********* 2.5 Where Principal Sol lives! [PRISOL] ******************************************************************************* Leave the school and go back to the dormitory. Use the map if you forgot the way. The first time you'll enter the dormitory Reginald will give you 3000 Ritch, your schoolarship funds. Leave and enter a second time and he will lead you to the library where Principal Sol lives. Principal solve wants to talk to you about the Mystery Key. He will explain that only human children can activate Mystery Times. I will explain Mystery Times and what they mean in section 3. After Principal Sol gave you the key he will warp you back to the dormitory. Since you were already there now and because the library is a very important place you should go back and have a closer look at it. The first thing you will notice are 2 books, each of them is chained to it's own rostrum. The left book is the fish catalogue. A friendly book that will eat everyything caught with the fishing rod. It will catalogue your fish and reward you with an item depending on the kind and size of your catching. You can view the fish you already caught and read it's information [FIBUG]. The right book is grumpy and the bug catalogue. Be careful, rumors have it that it already tried to bite someone! It will catalogue anything you caught with the net and give you a reward depending on the kind and size of your catching. To read the information about a certain FAQ talk to it and tell it that you want to view the bugs [FIBUG]. On the right side behind the book you will see Principal Sol, enthroned on a heap of books! Climb up the book stair to talk to him. You can ask him for evaluations and a new Mystery Key. You can even chat with him. At night you will find Principal Sol on the roof, gazing at the stars. Climb the stairs on the left side to get up to the roof. Have a look through the giant telescope to watch the stars or the clouds. Talk to Principal Sol and he tells you about the star formation you can currently see. He will interpret the stars and tell you how they influence your luck and your friendship with the other students. Come here during the day to hear birds sing. If it rains you will also hear the thunder rolling and the storm howling. ********* And now you made it through the introductional steps of the game. Feel free to do whatever now. ********* ******************************************************************************* 3. Living on your own! [LIVO] ******************************************************************************* Now that you are a proper student of your school it's time to learn what else life has to offer you. The town offers many opportunities to enjoy your sparetime and to have fun with your friends. Of course you can't just fool around after classes, you have to earn money to furnish your room and to buy fancy clothes. You don't want to live in a bare room and you certainly don't want to wear the same clothes every day. That won't make a good impression on your fellow students. And if you want to live in a pretty town, then you have to play groundskeeper too. Taking care of the weeds, flowers and trees. You will have to be very busy to manage all your official and unofficial duties. Your first task should be to get to know the town and the surround envoirement. ********* 3.1 A quick sightseeing! [QSS] ******************************************************************************* Make your way back to school but don't enter it. Go to the right and you will enter the town. Make sure to introduce yourself to anyone who crosses your path. Here you'll find several shops, a bar and an appartment house for four students. These shops will offer you everything you need, but I will tell you later more about them [SIS]. Follow the road and pass Mon Paris, Vivian's Boutique, the Limelight which lies rather hidden between Daisy's Flowers and Harrows and go through the gate in the northern part of the town. You're now on the beach, a nice place to fish and spent time with your friends. Go up the stairs of the cliff and you are at Lover's Point. It's a very romantic place! On the right side you'll find a carpet on the ground. Step on it to call Mah, the mummy who will take you to the Island on her taxi-broom. Notice how long the broom is? You can take the broom together with a friend. The island is very calm and very small. You will come here very often, at least once every Sunday. Find your way back to the school, if you get lost open your map by pressing START and then tapping on the house icon. From the school go straight down the stairs. See the big treehouses? Students live in them. Now don't run against the building, pass it on the left or the right side. In any case you will stand now in front of the bank and the postoffice. The fountain with the benches left and right of it is a place where students like to hang out. Approximately 5 steps south of the fountain you'll see a little plastered plaza. Festivals and extracurricular classes will take place here. From here go to the west till you reach the river. A few steps to the south will you find the bridge. Cross it and keep going west. You'll pass the library which is in the tall tower, and will finally reach the ruins, a small crescent- shaped pond surrounded by broken stone pillars. From there go north till you reach the stairs which lead up into the forest. If you keep going on a straight line to the north you will see a black hole in the bushes. This is the entrance to the Fungi Forest, a clearing and cul-de-sac in a what must be a giant tree. Have a look into the tree if you like but come out after you have seen enough. Go right and follow the path through the forest until you reach the bridge which leads over the river. Pass the bridge. Did you hear a voice? It's a scary place, no? A small cemetary in the forest, directly in front of a house with broken windows and cobbwebs hanging from the roof over the door. If you can withstand the temptation to have a look at it for a short moment then follow the path up to the cave, north of the graves. Enter the cave and follow it through to the lake. It's strange that the soil in the upper part near the lake is blue. Okay, now you've seen the whole town and everything around it. Feel free to leave the cave and to enter the Haunted House. Should one of the ghosts catch you and warp you back to the dormitory remember that I warned you! Luckily all these ghosts will ever do is to send you back to the dormitory. You won't loose anything and they can't damage you. But it's still scary! ********* 3.2 Finding friends - falling in love! [SWEHA] ******************************************************************************* X - Waving at a student to get his/her attention A - Talking to him/her X, then A should bring up a menu, choose from the following options: - Listen to her/his story - Give her/him a nice present - Go to school together (they will wait in the classroom for you) - Say it's nothing at all If you currently play someone but want him/her to leave you alone, press X, then A and choose the option to stop playing together. ********* On our tour through the town you've seen many students. All in all there will always live 11 students in your town in a random combination of boys and girls. And it's. Or can possessed items have genders? In this town everything seems possible. Don't let the appearance of some of the students fool you. You are the only human around. Everyone else is either an animal, a demon (of the nice kind) or an possessed item. Of course there's still Capt'n Dot, but he doesn't live in the town. Don't judge your fellow students by their appearance or by their voice, they are humans like you and me and they have feelings. And birthdays and a mind of their own and certain preferences. Befriending them and getting to know them is important. It's fun to talk to them, to play with them, to hang out at the bar and to take classes together. You might even find a girlfriend (if you play as a boy) or a boyfriend (if you play as a girl). Your sweetheart will spend much time with you, go shopping and walking with you. On your walk through the town you've already seen blue bubbles showing up over the head of the students. These are speak bubbles, telling you in what mood they are and what they want of you. If someone hails you you should go over and talk to person. Of course you could take action yourself and wave at a student you find nice looking or interesting. Press X to wave at them. They will come over and wait for you to talk to them. Talk to them and listen to their stories. They are quite the gossipers, telling you what they observed about other students. They will tell you of students they saw acting strange and of rumors they heard. If they ask you if a certain rumor is true it's your chance to influence the gossip that goes around in town. They even give out clues on whom they like and with whom they have fallen in love. You should accept if someone wants to play with you. Your friends will follow you to all places, with one exeption. They won't ever go into the haunted house with you. Show off your room if you want and hear if they like it. Bring them up to the conservatory. They might want to have a cup of tea with you there. Or learn with you. It's nice that you don't have to walk slow out for fear to loose your friend somewhere. Run if you want. Or fly on a broom. They will mirror your action and get out their own broom. Have a broom race if you want. Or go fishing or bug catching. Again, they will mirror your action, even giving you hints on where to find a bug or cheering at you while you catch a fish. They're reactions and mood will change with the location. Bring someone to Lover's Point to understand what I meant. If you want to improve your friendship invite them to a bowl of Noodles at Charlies. Or go and have a drink with them at the pub. Remember, that since you invited them, you will have to pay for what they eat and drink too. You can give them gifts, try flowers and room decorations, like ramen or pizza. You can even try to give them clothes. To improve your friendship with the others and to make them do certain things you can use the following spells and incantations. Spells ====== Party Popper Love Insight Magnetic Incantations ============ Declare Love Phantasm Friendship Popularity Sharp-Eared Sweet Dreams Sit By Me Check the spell section [SMO] and the incantation section [IMS] to learn how these spells work and what magic linguistics and items you have to use. Sometimes your friends will indicate that they are ill. They will talk of stomach ache or fever. When that's the case go to Malila of The Emporium and ask her for a cure. ********* What can you do if you don't like on of your students and want him/her to leave? Nothing. Up to this day there is no known way to make a student leave a town. Jinxing them, using naughty spells on them won't work. Writing rude letters won't work. Either strive to get to know them better and learn to like them or ignore them completely. Roughly once in a month one of the students will try to leave the town. If he/she likes you he/she might talk to you off this before hand. If that's the case you can prevent them from moving. If they don't talk to you then you will only learn of their plans once Principal Sol and the moving student announce her/his leaving to the class. A new student will move in imediately. There have been rumors going around. One of the treehouses will always be uninhabited. Which leds to the assumption that at one point you will be allowed to move in there. Up until today these rumors are not confirmed, so don't get your hopes up. ********* 3.3 Playing groundkeeper - taking care of your town. [GRKE] ******************************************************************************* Another of your tasks, besides being a good and popular students, will be to take care of your town. It is solely your task to pull weeds, water and plant new flowers and to plant trees and berry bushes. Of course you will be rewarded for your efforts. The world tree spirit [IMS] will watch you closely and judge you. If you pull weeds regulary, water wilting flowers and plant new trees he will reward you with gifts for the conservatory. There's also a wizard title you can gain if you have many (200) flowers in your town. What you will have to do: ========================= - Pulling weeds =============== There are 3 different kinds of weeds. One looks like a comb laying on the back. A second one looks like many orange cloverleafs. The third one looks like a dandelion! And with this weed you will have to be careful. There is a plant (categorized as bug by Konami) which looks very similiar to the weed. You can only tell them apart by the color of the leaf. The harmless dandelion-like weeds are green. Green like the comb-like weed. The leaves of the "bug", a mandragora, are blueish-green. Don't pluck them! They are sleeping in the ground, if you pluck them they will wake up and scream - and send you back to the dormitory. And yes, the mandragora will be gone for good. Leave it in the ground and make sure that you remember where it is. When the next Mystery Time activates run there as fast as possible. You will see the mandragora running around. Catch it with your net! I find that they make a nice room decoration, you can exhibit them in a terrarium. - Caring for flowers ==================== Water wilting flowers. Wilting flowers are easy to recognize, their blossom is gone. Use your watering can to water them. If you watered them right golden sparks will show up. You don't have to water plants if it rains or snows. You can pluck flowers and plant them in other places. Plant them in the conservatory. Since the conservatory has a roof you will need to water the plants even if it rains or snows. You can put the flowers in your room, they will be in a nice flower pot and they will never wilt. You can transform the flowers to get a rarer form of them. As Daisy from Daisy's Flowers will tell you, if you plant certain flowers in certain spots they will change their color and will turn into different colored flowers! - Tulips of any color will turn blue if you plant them in the blue soil in the cave. Here you will have to water them even if it rains or snows. - Marguerites of any color will turn black if you plant them in the circle that is formed by the tombstones near the hunted house. - May Lilys of any color will turn orange if you plant them in Fungi Forest. - Roses of any color will turn pink if you plant them in any part of the forest, remember, the forest stretches from the narrow gate, formed by bushes above the stairs till the bridge that crosses the river at the haunted house. It might take a few days till the flowers change their color. If you want even rarer flowers, flowers that look quite spectacular and magical, then you can use the mystery bloom incantation (Incantation - Mystery - Give) on the different colored flowers. You need to leave/plant the in the area where it changed it's color. The blue tulip needs to stay in the cave in the blue soil, the pink rose needs to stay in the forest, and so on. Choose the watering can, then transform and enter Incantation - Mystery - Give. Now water the plant. You might need to repeat this process for some days. There's apparently a limit to the number of flowers you can use it on. So make sure to never use this spell on too many flowers. Though what exactly the limit is no one knows yet. My personal rule is to never have more then 4 flowers to use this spell on. If you are successfull the different colored flower will turn over night into a magical looking flower. - The blue tulip will turn into red gemflower. - The pink rose will turn into a red heartflower. - The orange may lily will turn into a yellow candyflower. - The black marguerite will turn into a white skullflower. Can you imagine my shock when I came to the graveyard and found a white skull between the tombstones? >.< Successfully transformed flowers can be planted anywhere except in the places where no flower will ever grow. These places, where no flowers will ever successfully grow are: - anywhere at the beach - anywhere on the island - around the heartshaped sandpit on Lover's Point Yes, you can plant flowers there to attract beetles, but they will wilt the next day and despite every effort to keep them alive they will be gone the day after. So make sure to collect the flowers you planted there for the day once you leave the area. - Planting saplings =================== Quite annoyingly trees will only live for roughly a month. If you don't want to live in a barren country you will need to buy saplings from Daisy's Flowers and plant them. You can also check the plains and the forest, you might find wild saplings there. Of course you can simply use berries you plucked from a bush. Or check the island. Every day you will find a random berry there. You can pull them out and move them to a different area. To bury them choose the shovel, then open your inventory and drag the sapling to the space where you want it to grow. Even if you know that a tree once stood in a certain spot there is no guarantee that a tree will grow there again. There are rumors around that trees need flowers at a certain side or need to have a free space at a certain angle - that's not true and you will see it for yourself, once the first wild saplings start growing. Just make sure that you can walk around the sapling. Saplings don't need to be watered. A sapling needs three days to grow. On the first day, when you bury it, it will be a sapling. The next day it will either have grown or died and vanished. The day after the tree will be grown up. Planting trees in different areas changes the appearance of the tree. Just compare the trees in the plains with the trees in the forest. The forest trees look quite spooky but they grew from the same saplings as the normal trees. Black trees who lost nearly all of their leaves are dieing. You can't revive them. - Berry bushes ============== I understand it that berry bushes aren't important for the judgement of the world tree spirit. But they are plants, important plants, and that's why I cover them here. You will plant berry bushes for two reasons. Because they look nice and because they are moneymakers. It's as if you have a licence to print your own money. Some people trade with stocks, other trade with turnips and Cat Sith trades with berries! Cat Sith visits the town on every day that is divisible with three (3rd, 6th, 9th, etc.). He opens his shop in the haunted house and buys berries. Sometimes for a lot of money. There are 5 different berries: - Cranberries - Strawberries - Blueberries - Blackberries - Raspberries Berry bushes only live for a short time and you can only harvest them once. Here's their living cycle: Day 1 - plant the berry or the berry sapling Day 2 - the bush is fully grown Day 3 - the bush is fully grown Day 4 - the bush is fully grown Day 5 - the bush carries 3 berries; harvest them Day 6 - the bush still lives on Day 7 - the bush still lives on Day 8 - the bush is wilting Day 9 - the bush is gone If you don't harvest the berries the bushs life cycle will continue: Day 6 - the bush carries 3 berries Day 7 - the buss carries 3 berries Day 8 - the berries are gone Day 9 - the bush is still living on Day 10 - the bush is still living on Day 11 - the bush is wilting Day 12 - the bush is gone If you can't or don't want to sell the berries on the day you harvested them store them in your dresser. Don't put them on the ground, don't put them in the trash, don't leave them in the bag. They will be spoiled the next day. But they stay fresh eternally if you keep them in your dresser. Like trees bushes don't have to be watered. For more information on how the berry market works look here [CSITH]. ********* 3.4 Shopping in shops! [SIS] ******************************************************************************* Before I tell you how to make money I'll tell you why you need money. You need money to buy things to improve your live. You need money to buy clothes and furniture, you need money to go to the barber and to have a drink at the Limelight. There are 10 places in this game where you can spent your money. They are scattered around the town. All shops, with the exception of Cat Sith are open every day. All shops, with the exception of the Limelight and Charlies Noodles, will change their prices several times a day. OpheHon and I tried to find a pattern, to know when the prices will change and to be able to predict them. We failed. The prices seem to change randomly. Sometimes the price stays the same for nearly 2 hours, sometimes it changes within half an hour. The price pattern of Saturday is different to the price pattern of Sunday. To be able to find a pattern, if one exists, one would to have to write down the prices of several items of each shop and control these prices every minute, making notes when they change. And that for at least 7 days. Even if one is so insane to try this - who says that the price patterns are the same for every town? The best we can give you and advise you is to take notes of the cheapest prices and to look out for the time when the prices is low. We're also working on a list of the cheapest price for each furniture and item [PRILI]. Mon Paris ========= A small shop in the town. Roland, the barber is only to happy to sell you wigs and give you a new haircut. Each day Roland will offer you 3 different hairstyles from which you can choose. You can't however choose the color, you have to take what he gives you. If it's really bad either get a new haircut or wear a hat or a wig. You can choose hair cuts from the other gender too. Location: in town Opening Times: 9am - 12am Vivian's Boutique ================= Lively Vivian, an animated cloth doll leads this shop. She sells hats and masks, glasses and shoes, dresses, skirts, trousers, jackets and robes. Feel free to wear whatever you want. Boys can wear skirts and girls can wear trousers. Combine what you want. If you wear trousers but decide to dress in a robe or dress you will see the trousers poking from under the dress/robe. Simply change into a skirt, no one will be able to see the skirt under your dress or robe. Stand in front of a cloth and press A. Vivian will tell you what it is and what it costs and ask you if you want to try it on. Location: in town Opening Times: 9am - 12am Daisy's Flowers =============== Cute and calm Daisy owns the little shop. Every day Daisy will sell 3 random flowers, 2 furniture or items for the conversatory, a sapling and a flower seed. If you want to buy berry saplings from her or want her advise on flowers then talk to her. Location: in town Opening Times: 9am - 12am The Limelight ============= Marcy, the bar maid is a cherry or caterpillar. Come here alone or with a friend. Listen to the music - you might learn a new song. Take the seat in the middle and have a drink. Your friends will always sit on the right seat, random visitors like Daisy will sit on the left seat. Have a random berry juice and talk with Marcy. She will give you advise on your relationship with your sweetheart or friend. The song changes several times a day, so come here as often as possible. Location: in town Opening Times: 8am - 4am Harrows ======= No, the clerks name isn't Harrow, his name is Picard and he works on both floors. Two brooms, several furniture and items can be bought on the first floor. To get to the second floor take the lift. In the left room you can choose from 4 carpets and 4 wallpapers. In the right room you can choose from 2 music instruments, 4 CD's and 2 radios. You'll need a radio to listen to a CD, but you can buy CDs without having a radio. CDs will be collected in a special place (press L, tap your char, choose whistle and you'll see your CD collection). You can order CDs from Picard, one at a time. Talk to him, then whistle the song for a while. You can pick up the CD in three days. (On Wednesday if you ordered the CD on Monday.) Location: in town Opening Times: 9am - 12am Malila ====== The most important shop in town. Not necessarily because here you can buy potions, but because Malila is one of the two shops who will buy things from you. Which is essential if you want to make money. Malila buys: - bones - mushrooms - flowers of all kind - ores - gems - potions - berries Never ever sell her berries, unless it's rotten berries. Malila will only pay 30 - 40 Ritch per berry and 10 Ritch for spoiled berries. You can work for Malila if you want. It has it's benefits. Since she's already an elderly lady she can't leave her shop to collect potions ingredients herself. Talk to her and tell her that you want to work for her. She will give you a list of three ingredients she needs to make a certain potion. In return she will give you 1000 Ritch the first time you give her one of the wanted items, she will pay the double price for the wanted items and give you 100 Ritch extra every time you sell wanted items to her. And she will give you a free sample of the potion she is cooking. Store that sample away, you will need it later in the game. You can ask Malila to make a potion for you. She offers cures for sick fellow students and potions to solve certain tasks. Every Sunday Malila will start to cook a new potion, so make sure that you talk to her by then. If you need a potion from her you will have to gather some of the ingredients she lists. Sell them to her and she will make the potion. Location: in town Opening Times: 9am - 00am Charlies Noodles ================ Charlie is an important guy! Not only does he sell tasty noodles which you can share with your friends, he also tells you rumors he heard, rumors about you or others. And most importantly, he can predict the berry market. Of course you need to pay him a small fee. The more you pay the better is his analysis. Charlie can be found in two places, the Fungi Forest and the Beach. Opening Times: in Fungi Forest 6am - 4pm at the Beach 4pm - 00am Cat Sith ======== He's quite mysterious and likes to hide his shop far away from spying eyes in the Haunted House. You'll have to pass ghosts in order to reach him. He's always in the far away room on the left side of the dinning room. Cat Sith sells rare items. And he buys stuff. Furniture, clothes and wigs. He buys berries for prices up to 1500 Ritch. He even buys choosen furniture. Talk to him to learn for what kind of furniture he will pay much money. Location: Haunted House Opening Times: 00am - 00am (EU version), on every day that is divisible with three Post Office =========== Thom, the post officier is in charge of the post office. Talk to him if you want to send a telegram to a friend. If your friend answers your telegram you will find one of the smaller cats standing outside of your dorm. Talk to them to hear what your friend wrote. You can hold 10 recieved telegrams in your inventory (START - then press the icon with the cat face on it). A telegram costs 500 Ritch and you can't attach gifts. Location: in the plains Opening Times: 9am - 12am Bank ==== George the goat is in charge of the bank. Here you can store items, valuable furniture or clothes, but also potion ingredients. You shouldn't store these things in your dresser or cupboard at the dormitory because you will mainly be needing the space for berries. Put your savings in the bank. You will earn a small interest of 0,25% per day. Yes you read right. Each day you will earn a small sum. Now this only works if you put a larger sum, around 10,000 Ritch and more into the bank. But with a bit dedication you'll fast have the sum. Thanks to DoomtheGrav, RuiBettencourt and Kool-Aid-Relic for doing the math for me. Your bank account can only hold 999,999 Ritch. If you reached this sum you won't get any interest anymore. But you can take a part of the sum and store it in the save, bury it in the ground, put it on the floor in the dorms or store it in the dresser. Location: in the plains Opening Times: 9am - 12am ********* 3.5 Making money [MAMO] ******************************************************************************* Now where we covered the places where you can spent your money it's time to go through the different methods on how to make money. Your two main sources for money making will be the catching of fish and insects and the berry market. For quick cash you can go treasure hunting, but there's no guarantee that you will get a large sum. Using magic to get rich will take it's own sweet time. ********* Catching bugs and insects ========================= Bugs and insects can be found nearly everywhere, at every time of the day and throughout the whole year. They respawn quickly and catching them doesn't cost any money. A positive side effect is that you will fill the fish and the bug catalogue, and once you filled one of the catalogues Principal Sol will reward you. The fish and bug lists have their own section. Check them to see which fish and bugs can currently be caught [FIBUG]. If you want to know which fish and bugs are most profitable then check out the reward tables [RWBF]. Keep in mind that you can't see the size of the fish/bug before you caught it. And remember that Malila's prices for the goodies you offer her will change too. The berry market ================ He who wants to earn money will have to invest money. You will need to talk to Charlie and pay him a fee for predicting the berry market. You will also need to plant berry bushes. You might need to invest into berry saplings if you don't want to use berries from bushes [SIS]. The prices Cat Sith offers for berries will change throughout the day. So make sure to visit him several times. Prices range from 30 Ritch up to 1,500 Ritch! Don't sell him berries for under 100 Ritch. Better store them in a dresser or armoire and wait for Cat Siths next visit. If you can, find other players who allow you to sell your berries in their town, if Cat Sith offers particulary high prices. Treasure Hunting ================ Mister Oakleys very first lesson should always be about the treasure hunt spell [SMO]. This spell allows you to find buried treasure. Where a treasure is buried a green puddle and golden sparks will show up and you will hear a tinkling noise. There is, however, one big flaw. You won't find any treasure if you haven't learned the spell at school. And you won't find any treasure during the magic flower rain. Every day you can several treasure in several locations. - one treasure chest on the Island - one treasure chest at Lover's Point - three treasure chests in the plains and in the forest, one of the chests will contain up to 10,000 Ritch - 5 treasure chests in the cave There is a treasure hunt incantation that is said to make sure that there is a treasure buried somewhere [IMS]. You will need a gold ore for this incantation. I haven't tested it yet, but it would be interesting to know if you can first use the treasure hunt spell to find all treasures, then use the treasure hunt incantation to respawn at least some of the treasures. Maybe someone can test this and mail me about the results please. Secret Saving ============= Another incantation which is supposed to make you rich [IMS]. Again you will have to invest, but this time you won't loose money. I have no idea how large the sum you have to bury must be. Nor how much "interest" you will gain. If someone finds out, mail me about the results please. ********* ******************************************************************************* 4. Mysterious mysteries! [MYMY] ******************************************************************************* Live could be so peaceful - but also a bit boring if it weren't for the mysteries. As Principal Sol told you, once in a while a mysterious creature will show up in the town and it will be your task to help him/her/it. The harbinger of every mystery will be the Mystery Time. MT can be either activated by your using the Mystery Key on the Gate of the Beginning End or it will be triggered by a certain date. Every MT will be followed by a mystery, or with other words, no mystery without a MT the day before. ********* 4.1 But what is a Mystery Time? [MYTI] ******************************************************************************* During Mystery Time the world will be dark. Strange stars can be seen on the sky. Strange insects and fish show up. Mister Grave will wake up and give classes on the plaza if the MT was triggered by the MK. Mystery Time exclusive fish and bugs will net you a more valuable reward then the normal fish and bugs, so use the time to catch as many as possible to make money. ********* 4.1.1 Lessons by Mister Grave! [LEMGR] ******************************************************************************* Mister Graves will either send you on a hunt to catch a certain MT exclusive fish or bug, or he will let you duel with other students. In a magical tournament you will have to be faster then your opponent and cast a certain spell. Make sure that you know where the magic linguistics are. If you have forgotten a spell you can look it up. Mister Grave won't start the duels before you tell him to. Enter the spell as fast as possible and cast it. If you win all rounds Mister Grave will be impressed with you and later on he will send you a congratulations telegram. If he sents you off to catch a certain bug or fish, he will give you a vague description. Go and catch one exemplar of the fish or bug. Show it to Mister Grave. He won't keep the bug or fish so you can either keep it for yourself or register it. 4.1.2 What Mister Grave wants! [WMGW] ******************************************************************************* Lesson: It stands out because its face is made out of stone. Bring him: Human-Faced fish. Lesson: With a body like a cylinder and fins that look like sashes, it can move at high speed. Bring him: Sky fish Lesson: It's not a fish and it is blue and rubbery. Bring him: Firefly Lesson: Mister Grave wants to see an animal that is named after a legendary hero because of its strength. Bring him: Tsuchinoko ********* 4.2 Mysteries triggered by the Mystery Key [MTMK] ******************************************************************************* Coming in the next update, sorry. ********* 4.3 Mysteries triggered by date [MTBD] ******************************************************************************* Coming in the next update, sorry. ********* 4.4 Events [EVNT] ******************************************************************************* Coming soon. ********* ******************************************************************************* 5. Classes [CLSOV] ******************************************************************************* Know your spells, know your incantations, know your linguistics. Not only do these help you to solve mysteries, you can also use spells and incantations for improving your standing with the students. There are a few things you have to be careful of when you use magic. - Spells and incantation cannot exist without magic linguistics. So make sure you know where you find a certain magic linguistic. - Spells don't require anything else but certain magic linguistics. Once you have loaded them into your staff you can cast them again and again. - Incantation require a combination of condition, place and material. Most incantation use up the material. Incantations won't work if anyone sees you. ********* 5.1 Spells taught by Mister Oakley [SMO] ******************************************************************************* Treasure Hunt ============= This kind of magic lights up treasure which is buried in the ground. You can then discover where the things you are looking for are hidden. Magic - Secret - Seek The spell covers an area of roughly 15 steps. Search the island, Lover's Point, the plains and the cave. If fired at an insect, you can stop that insect from moving. But this magic has no effect on people, so don't just use it for no reason, all right? Magic - Slow - Bug ********* Lightning Magic =============== This kind of magic is just plain awesome. It can be used to punish a bad kid, and it's power increases the more a child behaves badly! Make sure, though, that you never use it carelessly. Magic - Star - Angry ********* 5.2 Incantations taught by Miss Strawe [IMS] ******************************************************************************* Invisibility ============ If you cast this incantation, the people around you won't be able to see you. And, when you're invisible, you might hear people gossiping behind someone else's back. First, you'll need a crystal, so make sure you have one ready. Next, transform into a wizard and chant the magic linguistic spell. Then, by transferring some of your staff's power to the marguerites you can cast the incantation successfully. Material: 4 Marguerites Place: Where there are 4 Marguerites Incantation - Flower - Many And wouldn't it be great to use the flower rain incantation to make the town look so pretty? - Not really, after a while the flower rain get's boring. Oh, black marguerites can't be put on the ground in some places. So watch out for that. Incantation - Come - Door My opinion: This incantation is pretty useless. It's faster to simply press SELECT and save the game and start again. And you don't waste a valuable flower. Magic linguistics is divided into six groups. These are: Basic, Who, Do, What, Where, and When. When you want to use a magic linguistic, it would be wise to know the category it belongs to. By remembering what magic is in what category, you will improve in your studies much faster. ********* Rise ==== Today, we will look at some magic linguistics that can be learned easily and often. Yes, there is one type of magic linguistics that you can acquire many times. And that is... the name of a classmate. By speaking with a classmate just once you can add their name to the list which appears under Who. So, if there is anyone you have not talked to yet, you might want to have a chat with them. ********* Greeting ======== In today's class, we are going to discuss how to greet someone. First of all, if you cannot give a proper greeting, it will be difficult to make friends. Example: You - Who? If a stranger starts talking with you, using the magic linguistics You and Who?... Which magic linguistic will you use to reply? At such a time, if you answer with Greeting or Friend, everything should be okay. The other person will then feel comfortable. ********* Feelings ======== In today's class we are going to talk about how to express your feelings. If you do not show your feelings properly to other people, then you might be misunderstood. Example: Me - Happy Me - Sad Look at the blackboard. You can combine these magic linguistics to show how you feel right now. Me and Happy when you feel good. Me and Sad when you feel down. Me and angry when you are mad. It's really very simple. And you can ask another person how they feel by changing Me to You. Example: You - Happy - Question You - Angry - Question Then, for example, with You and Angry, you can ask them if they are mad about something. These are very important magic linguistics. Be sure to study them carefully. ********* Their Feelings ============== In today's class, we are going to discuss other people's feelings. To understand how someone else feels, you need to memorize some magic linguistic combinations. Example: Friend - ? Want - Mushroom - ! Look up here. To express strong feelings, other people may use these magic linguistics often. So, for example, if they say Friend and ? they are asking if you are really their friend. This means they are a little worried. Or, as written on the blackboard, if they say Want, Mushroom, and ! they are telling you that they really need a mushroom. Be sure to review this material carefully so it is easy for you to reply when you are spoken to. Because it helps you understand others' feelings, these are very important magic linguistics. They will be useful when you want to express your won feeling clearly, too. ********* Basic ===== In today's class, we are going to study Basic magic linguistics. I will now introduce you to some of the Basic magic linguistics that may be avaible to you Example: Love, Fast, Big, Many, Happy, Angry Whenever you greet someone, express your feelings, or use incantations or staff magic these magic linguistics will be absolutely necessary. In other words, they will form the basis of almost anything you do. Basic magic linguistics can be used in many situations. You should review them fully. ********* Who === In today's class, we are going to study Who magic linguistics. I will now introduce you to some of the Who magic linguistics that may be avaible to you. Example: All, Friend, Sweetheart, UMA, Principal Sol, Vivian These include information about you and other people, as well as your teacher's name. Of course , the names of your classmates and the people in shops can be also found here. You need to know someone's name when sending a telegram or using staff magic or incantations. To make sure you remember such things, it is very important that you study hard every day. ********* Do == In today's class, we are going to take a look at Do magic linguistics. I will now introduce you to some of the Do magic linguistics that may be avaible to you. Example: Go, Talk, Performance, Learn As you can tell from the writing above, this kind of magic covers many things that people can do. When you invite someone or say what another person did, these linguistics are very useful. Well, as useful as this magic can be, make sure that you do not gossip too much. ********* What ==== In today's class, we are going to talk about What magic linguistics. I will now introduce you to some of the What magic linguistics that may be avaible to you. Example: Money, Fish, Watering Can, Weeds As you can tell from the writing above, this kind of magic covers the names of different items. These can then be combined with various Do magic linguistics. For example, by pairing Weeds with Take, you can pull up some weeds. You can also make many other kinds of combinations. Be sure to try them all out. In the future, you might even be asked to do all sorts of things by people from other worlds. At such a time, it will really help if you have already memorized how to combine Do and What magic linguistics, just like we discussed in today's class. ********* Where ===== In today's class, we are going to learn about Where magic linguistics. I will now introduce you to some of the Where magic linguistics that my be avaible to you. Example: House, Dorm, Where?, Woods, Above, Below As you can tell from the writing above, this kind of magic covers the names of various locations. All of the places you can go to in this town have already been prepared for you. The symbols for buildings appear in the five-sided magic linguistics called houses. While the symbols for places inside a building are written in a rectangle... Which is called a room. It should be easy to tell the difference using these shapes. There may also be times when you want to say a very particular location. In such a case for expample, you can point to deep within the woods by using both Woods and Above. Well, these are really practical kinds of magic linguistics. Be sure to study them carefully. Well, instead of just walking through town, make it a habit to explore places around you. That should be part of your daily studies. ********* When ==== In today's class, we are going to look at When magic linguistics. I will now introduce you to some of the When magic linguistics that may be avaible to you. Example: Morning, Now, Tomorrow, Monday These words include times of the day like Morning, Daytime, and Night, as well as days of the week such as Sunday. To express an even more specific time you can combine them with the numbrs found in Basic magic linguistics. Well, you children should have no problem at memorizing these magic linguistics quickly. ********* Meet ==== In today's class, we will study magic linguistics that help you when you want to meet somebody. You may be wondering what kind of magic linguistics can be used to make plans with someone. Example: Meet - Night Meet - Saturday Meet - Tower Well, as written above, by combining Meet with When, and then Meet with Where you can ask the other person when and where they will meet you. To choose a more specific When or Where, just follow the explanations I gave you in the Time and Place classes. If you have already forgotten, then you need to do some review. Also, be careful that you do not arrive later than the time you agreed on. ********* Invite Now? =========== In today's class, we are going to discuss how to make an invitation. There are things you need to say when you want to ask someone to do something with you. Example: Together - Fishing pole Together - Performance Take - Weeds Take - Mushroom For example, when you want to go fishing with someone, just say Together and Fishing pole. So, what do you think you should use when you want to play a song with somebody? Well, that would be Together and Performance. ********* Next Time ========= In today's class, we will learn how to make a promise to meet someone again. Maybe it often feels like it is already time to go home as soon as you start playing together. Example: Tomorrow - Play Saturday - Play Do - Play To promise to play together again tomorrow when this happens, just say Tomorrow and Play, as is written on the blackboard. If you want to make a promise for Saturday, then use Saturday and Play. There are many other things you can say, as well. Just think of anything that suits you. That sounds good, doesn't it? Well, even though it is nice to play, I really want you to make plans to study. ********* Play What? ========== In today's class, we will look at different ways to play games using magic linguistics. Most simply, you can see who can decipher a written magic linguistic the fastest. Or, if everyone gathers at the beach, one person can bury a bone somewhere. Then, everyone else searches for the bone and tries to be the first one to find it. During the game, the person who buried the bone can use magic linguistics to give out hints. For example, by saying Tower and No, they can tell everyone that it is not buried near the tower. Now, only give these kind of hints a little at a time, or the bone will be found too quickly. It might be fun to make a rule that a hint can only be given once every five minutes. There are many other games, as well. Try hard and you'll learn a lot about magic linguistics. So, in this way, you can express many things depending on the way you use magic linguistics. It is a subject with a lot of depth. Try not to forget what you have learned so far. ********* ******************************************************************************* 6. Fishing and Bug catching [FIBUG] ******************************************************************************* The fishing tables aren't complete yet. If you can add any information please write me a mail. I'd also like to thank the people from http://www.enchantedbros.com/ for their permission to use the information of their bug-, fish tables. I took the liberty to clean up the tables to make them easier to read. So please, don't blame me for this very simple classification. Bugs are everywhere. They hide in flowers, they hide in trees. They fly through the air and sit on tree houses. You can find them crawling on the ground and running around during Mystery Time, like the mandragora. ********* The mandragora is a plant that looks like a green carrot. You remember the dandelion like weeds in the plains and in the forest? The mandragora tries to resemble these weeds. But you can tell them appart by the colour of it. Normal dandelion like weeds are green. It's safe to pluck them. The leaves of the mandragora are blue. If you see a blue dandelion like weed don't plug it! If you pluck it the mandragora wakes up, screams and warps you back to the dormitory. You can only catch them during Mystery Time, when they leave the earth and run around. ********* Another hard to catch bug is the sky fish. Go to the beach during Mystery Time and wait. A whistling will announce the coming of the sky fish. You can't catch the sky fish that flies on the upper screen of the DS. You'll have to wait till a sky fish flies on the touch screen. Here are some tested methods from GameFAQ's users: ianflow: Finnally! I caught it! I caught it by using slow bug. I use it whenever I try to catch a really hard to catch bug. game_man16: I just caught it, first time, I was also facing the land and not the sea, I was in the middle of the dark shoreline. It made more sense to face the land because of the way your character swings the net, this method does work, and it works perfect ThadBarr: Eventually, after taking a long and hard look at my shoreline, and the Sky Fish's flight path, I came up with a new idea. I positioned myself on the far left of the ocean, north of the path to Town, almost at the edge of the water, but just a little bit in towards the beach. Then I faced AWAY from the Beach, TOWARDS the land. With this new spot, I caught the first Sky Fish that flew by on my first swing. Since then, I have caught four more, and not missed once. This new technique is definitely working for me. Think about it. Thanks guys! And here are the tables. ********* These bugs fly above flowers, they hide in flowers and trees and they sit on tree houses. o~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~o | ***The Plains*** [BPLAINS]| |~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~o~~~~~~~~~~~~~~o~~~~~~~~~~~~~~o~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| | Bug type | Season Found | Found during | Description | |~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~o~~~~~~~~~~~~~~o~~~~~~~~~~~~~~o~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| | Ladybug | Apr. - June | 4am - 7pm | Ladybugs like flying toward | | | | | the bright sun | |-----------------o--------------o--------------o-----------------------------| | Mandoragora | All year | MT only | A plant used as medicine | | | | | but not to be uprooted | |-----------------o--------------o--------------o-----------------------------| | Hyoro-Hyoro | Jan. - Apr. | MT only | A mushroom that loves to | | | | | groove to the music | |-----------------o--------------o--------------o-----------------------------| | Akiakane | Sept. - Nov. | 10am - 7pm | ??? I'd also like to thank the people from http://www.enchantedbros.com/ for their permission to use the information of their reward table. I took the liberty to split up the table, there's just no way to create a table with 9 columns if the wide of the FAQ is fixed with 79 signs. I sorted the tables after the reward you get. Since you can't see how big a fish or bug is until you caught it, it makes no sense to sort them after size. ********* o~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~o | ***Blue Tulip*** [RWBT]| |~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~o~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| | Bug | Fish | |~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~o~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| | Ancient Dragonfly (tiny) | - Price Lists [PRILI] ******************************************************************************* The promised price lists. Of course they aren't complete yet, but OpheHon and I are working on it. Any maybe you can help too. Here's a small reminder why we need lists for the lowest prices for things you can buy and lists for the highest prices for things you can sell. Quoted from [SIS]: "All shops, with the exception of the Limelight and Charlies Noodles, will change their prices several times a day. We're also working on a list of the cheapest price for each furniture and item." Here is what Ophe Hon found so far. ********* 7.1 Harrows [PRIHAR] ******************************************************************************* o~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~o | [SRI99] ******************************************************************************* Having to clean a room at school because you turned off the DS without saving can be bothersome. Not because cleaning is no fun, but because the spots are close together. And Reginald punishes you if he thinks you don't work properly or thinks that you tried to leave the room. Don't go to close to the door. Clean one spot, then move on to another spot, preferably one that isn't close by or Reginald might think that you clean the same spot over and over again. Keep wiping three times over every spot (press A), then move on. ********* ******************************************************************************* 9.
