That is all that matters, right? 4. Start-Up Set Up****************************************DS4**************** First, charge the DS if you want, then turn on the power. The screen will come up. You will be asked to give information - your birthday, your nickname, your favorite color, your language, the time (digital 24 (military)), the current date, etc. Now see why touching is so good. 5. DS -> Wii Connection****************************************DS5*********** Basically, you use the local-area Wi-Fi to connect to your Wii system. You can do some cool stuff on it - download some stuff and such. One game I know of has Wi-Fi stuff in it. - Pokemon: Basically, trade, battle, and play in 3-D with your D/P/Pt (and your HG/SS games, theoretically). 6. DS -> DS Connection******************************************DS6********** You will need... - Multiple DS's This is more appropriately displayed in section 11. Basically, access the game Wi-Fi functions. 7. DS -> Nintendo WFC Connection****************************************DS7** You will need... - 1 wireless router or Nintendo WFC Connector - 1 DS - 1 WFC compatible game (Mario Kart DS, Pokemon D/P/P, etc.) - 1 broadband Internet connection - 1 computer ... or this... - 1 DS - 1 WFC compatible game (Mario Kart DS, Pokemon D/P/P, etc.) - 1 wireless Wi-Fi hotspot (see nintendo.com). Go into the game's WFC menu (varies from game-to-game). Once in there, search for an access point. If you connect, you can play games with people all over the world. Trade Pokemon from Japan, race against the French - it is all up to you. 8. Playing PictoChat***********************************DS8******************* You will need... - 1 or more DS's (any kind). Open up the PictoChat option from the DS/DSi Menu. And, well, I should direct you to the PictoChat FAQs, not this. Simply put, draw and type or whatever. 9. Playing Games (DS)****************************************DS9************* On the back of the DS, behind the top half (when open) is a slot. Put a DS game card into it. Push it in until it clicks. Open the DS menu and tap the the top icon. You should see the logo of the game there. Tap it to start gameplay. 10. Playing Games (GBA)*********************************************DS10***** You will need... - 1 DS - 1 GBA game Insert the game into the bottom slot of the DS. Turn it on and select the option allowing you to play GBA games. 11. Playing Games (Wi-Fi (Local))*************************************DS11*** You will need... - 2 or more DS consoles (any kind) - 1 or more compatible games - An open space is recommended Download Play: Everyone should start their DS's to the DS/DSi Menu. One person, the host, should start the game card. The host will then go to the multiplayer function in the game. Use the "DS Download Play" function. At this time, all of the other players should go to the DS Download Play menu. An icon will appear, representing the game being played as well as the nickname (DS/game varies) of the person issuing the download. Tap it to participate. Follow any on-screen instructions, as they vary from game to game. Multi-Card Play: Everyone should start the DS's and the same game. EVERYONE needs to access the multiplayer function and access the multi-card play function. Follow on-screen instructions. 12. Playing Games (WFC)****************************************DS12********** You will need... - 1 wireless router or Nintendo WFC Connector - 1 DS - 1 WFC compatible game (Mario Kart DS, Pokemon D/P/P, etc.) - 1 broadband Internet connection - 1 computer ... or this... - 1 DS - 1 WFC compatible game (Mario Kart DS, Pokemon D/P/P, etc.) - 1 wireless Wi-Fi hotspot (see nintendo.com). Go into the game's WFC menu (varies from game-to-game). Once in there, search for an access point. If you connect, go to the WFC functions (ie: GTS in Pokemon). Follow any on- screen instructions and get ready to play. 13. Playing Games (Demos)****************************************DS13******** At some retailers, such as GameStop and Best Buy, you may use the DS Download Play function and notice an unknown icon come up, one that seems like it isn't a video game. Exactly. This download will allow you to play upcoming game's demos and watch videos. I know this is extra, but my first experience was about to play Mario Kart DS with my sister and noticed the icon. I then was able to watch the KH: 358/2 Days trailer. 14. What's Included?****************************************DS14************* (On the console.) - DS playability - Allows you to play all DS game cards. - GBA playability - Allows you to play most (all?) GBA games. - PictoChat - Talk with other people via Wi-Fi. No need to type so loud! - DS Download Play - Play multiplayer on games you don't have. Also allows access to demos, etc. at retailers. - Wrist Strap (accessory). 15. Sleep Mode****************************************DS15******************* Whenever you close your DS, it goes into Sleep Mode. This means that it saves a crapload of power. The typical full-charge DS will last a week on Sleep Mode. Note that, in some cases, it cannot be activated. Also, some games (ie: Super Mario 64 DS) will make a noise when entering/exiting Sleep Mode. 16. Changing Settings****************************************DS16************ From the DS Menu, you should select the DS icon - the Settings. This will allow you to change the settings and other various things. Change your DS name, your birthdate, your color, wireless settings, and PLENTY more. 17.
