This one covers the GameBoy Advance game known as Dr. Sudoku. Dr. Sudoku is a game based off the relatively popular numbers game known as sudoku, a game in which you fill in a grid with numbers such that there are no repetitions in the rows, columns, or within 3x3 boxes. And it's harder than that sounds! ... Well, actually, that pretty much ends another crappy introduction. Here is an FAQ for you. Enjoy. =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= Section Two: Version History **SUDOKU_2** =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= Final - First and likely only version of this FAQ completed. 1:40 AM 12/21/2012 =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= Section Three: Legalities **SUDOKU_3** =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= This FAQ may not be reproduced under any circumstances except for personal, private use. You'll opt to play Normal or Original Mode. Normal Mode consists of 20 puzzle levels, each with 50 puzzles arranged according to difficulty for 1,000 puzzles. =O This section takes care of Normal Mode. In sudoku, here, you can have only a 3x3 format. This traditional 3x3 style has 81 squares, subdivided into nine 3x3 squares. Each puzzle is randomized beyond the chosen extents prior to starting the game, but the goals are the same. Each puzzle will, also, have only one solution. You want every square to be filled in with numbers, and each and every of these numbers has to meet the following conditions: - In each column, every single number is different. For example, you can only have each of the numbers one through nine in a single vertical column - if there are any repetitions, it is WRONG. - The same applies to each row. - The same applies to each subdivided 3x3 box. It'll mostly then become a trial-and-error type of the deal. A good procedure, when starting, is to first examine each row, column, then box for empty squares. Then, from there, examine the other numbers in that row, column, and box for that empty square and see if, for sure, any number will fit there. It can be a rather lengthy procedure, but it works. Once you get a definite number, you can then just try filling out the remainder of that number's row, box, or column. Again, lengthy, but guaranteed to work. Beyond that, it's just solving the puzzle. -------------------------------- Playing the Game - Original Mode -------------------------------- Begin by choosing "Game Start". You'll opt to play Normal or Original Mode. For this section, we'll detail Original Mode. Here, you can save up to 20 customized sudoku puzzles. You can opt to choose one then edit it, or play it if it is completed. You will begin on the standard 9x9 grid, subdivided into 9 3x3 units, which are then subdivided into nine squares. Press the A Button when the cursor hovers over the designated square to be able to choose a number to place there. You can do this to also replace numbers. However, the game will not let you place a number that does not abide by standard sudoku rules, outlined in the previous section. You can do this until you're ready to save. If you press the R Button, you can use a variety of options: ~ Check, which sees if the puzzle has only one solution and is solvable ~ Auto-Fill, which puts in a solved sudoku puzzle, letting you overwrite and delete numbers as desired ~ Reset, which returns the puzzle to a blank slate ~ Save, which is obvious ~ Quit, which is also obvious Save if you're ready, Quit if you don't want to do any more, or press the L Button if you're not done yet. If you opt to play a puzzle ... well, the rules are in the previous section.
