Welcome to my Uber Challenge Guide. The Uber Challenge is a challenge I devised to push the limits in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. You may have heard of and attempted the 3 Heart Challenge before; this is similar. The original Uber Challenge was posted by me on the GameFAQs forums. Since then, it has evolved, and people have wondered how it is possible. That's what this guide is for. Without further ado, let's get some legal business out of the way. This guide may not be reproduced under any circumstances except for personal, private use. It may not be placed on any web site or otherwise distributed publicly without advance written permission. Use of this guide on any other web site or as a part of any public display is strictly prohibited, and a violation of copyright. All trademarks and copyrights contained in this document are owned by their respective trademark and copyright holders. The only sites where this guide can be hosted are: www.gamefaqs.com www.neoseeker.com www.supercheats.com It will also be linked to on the following sites: www.gamespot.com www.aol.com If you have anything to add to this guide, don't hesitate to e-mail me. If you need help, you may e-mail me as well. Of course, look for the appropriate section in the guide first-also, read the Frequently Asked Questions section. If you e-mail me, make sure you provide a meaningful subject; if you just say something like "hey," then I'll delete it as spam. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section 2 The Rules ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* By now, you may be wondering what the Uber Challenge actually is. Truth be told, it is simply a set of restrictions. Here they are: ******************************************************************************* UBER CHALLENGE RESTRICTIONS ******************************************************************************* -3 hearts, no Heart Pieces whatsoever -Buy Giant's Knife and break it ASAP, and use that at all times (except in the Graveyard and while fighting Ganon) -All Medallions -1 Bottle -No deaths (death counter at file select must say 000) -No Iron Boots -No capacity upgrades -No Great Fairy gifts except Magic Meter and Din's Fire -No Gold Skulltula family gifts from 20 or more Gold Skulltulas -No Goron Bracelet -No Fire Arrows -No Lens of Truth -No Longshot -No Silver Scale -No Zora Tunic -No Gerudo's Card -No Maps or Compasses -No Biggoron's Sword -Cannot use Action Replay, Gameshark, etc. -Cannot use Crooked Cartridge (touching your game cartridge while playing) -Cannot use Din's Fire outside the central room of the Water Temple -Cannot use Megaton Hammer to attack enemies (exception of stunning Volvagia) -Cannot use Megaton Hammer outside the Fire Temple -Cannot use Deku Sticks to attack enemies -Cannot use power crouch stab -Cannot use bottle except to show Ruto's Letter to King Zora -Cannot learn any songs except Song of Time, Zelda's Lullaby, and Minuet of Forest -Must have Shadow Medallion before entering Forest Temple -Must fight Dark Link ******************************************************************************* SHIELD RESTRICTIONS ******************************************************************************* You must burn your Deku Shield ASAP. You may not equip another one. You may not obtain a Hylian Shield as a child, but you may obtain a Hylian Shield as an adult. You may only use a Hylian Shield in the Graveyard. Aside from that, while you have a shield equipped, use it as little as possible and destroy it quickly. After completing the Spirit Temple, equip a Hylian Shield and let a Like Like eat it so you can continue without a shield. The optimal locations to destroy your shield are included in the route, below. ******************************************************************************* UBER CHALLENGE ROUTE ******************************************************************************* When originally posted on GameFAQs, the Uber Challenge included a route through the game. This route has been fine-tuned to involve minimal backtracking. Child -Deku Tree -Fairy Ocarina -Golden Scale -Ruto's Letter -Jabu Jabu -Zora's River (Magic Bean) -Zelda's Lullaby -Spirit Temple (burn shield ASAP) -Dodongo's Cavern -Magic Meter -Adult's Wallet -Graveyard (plant Magic Bean) -Ocarina of Time -Din's Fire -Temple of Time Adult -Goron City (Goron Tunic, Giant's Knife; break immediately) -Graveyard (Hookshot, Hylian Shield) -Shadow Temple (feed shield to Like Like ASAP, kill Like Like and retrieve shield) -Fire Temple -Minuet of Forest -Forest Temple -Water Temple -Spirit Temple (complete, reenter and feed shield to Like Like) -Temple of Time -Ganon's Castle ******************************************************************************* That's it! You may now start the Uber Challenge. However, if you are like most, you're probably thinking that my head has a couple screws loose right about now. You'll notice that I tell you to do some crazy things in the route. For starters, I tell you to go to the Spirit Temple without ever learning the Requiem of Spirit. I tell you to get the Golden Scale as a kid. I even tell you to go to the Shadow Temple soon after becoming an adult! But wait, don't stop reading! This is all possible, I assure you. That's why this guide exists. Not only that, but the Uber Challenge is possible on all versions of the game, barring Master Quest. That means that whether you have the first version released or the latest remake (unless Nintendo makes some remake after the time of this writing that makes some of these tricks impossible), you can enjoy the Uber Challenge. I guarantee that even if you pull your hair out of your head from frustration, you'll enjoy taking the Uber Challenge. It will change your perspective on what is possible in a game you thought you knew. However, be warned: the Uber Challenge is difficult. You should have at least played through the game twice before trying the Challenge. If it's giving you trouble, consider familiarizing yourself with the game a little more. The Uber Challenge is not for everyone. Also, try to only refer to this guide if you're stuck; solving puzzles by yourself is fun and rewarding! ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section 3 General Help ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* When doing the Uber Challenge, it is important to have some tips. Here are some things you should remember: -Don't give up! Everything in the Uber Challenge is possible. It may take 10 hours to pull off a single trick, but it's worth it. Completing the Challenge is rewarding-just ask the people who have! -Save often. You never know when you'll get caught off guard and killed by an enemy. Also, save after pulling off a difficult trick--you wouldn't want to have to do it all over again! Just remember that if you save outside a dungeon, you'll start at Link's house or the Temple of Time. -Collect health from pots and enemy drops. You only have three hearts, and you'll lose them pretty quickly if you're not careful. Make sure you have full health before challenging more difficult foes (although some will kill you in one hit even if you have full health, so you may as well have a quarter heart). -The child section of the Uber Challenge is easier than the adult section. Although the hardest trick is in the child section, the battles in the adult section will be tougher than the battles in the child section. The adult section is longer and has more tricks overall. I use several terms throughout this guide that may be unfamiliar to you. Here are most of them: Backwalk: Hold Z and down on the control stick. You'll walk backwards and move much faster than if you simply ran. Power Crouch Stab: Hold R and press B to perform a crouching stab that is as powerful as the last attack used. This is prohibited in the Uber Challenge. "Angle/Aim Yourself:" I just use this to say that you need to change the direction you are facing, mainly while performing a trick. For a more concise idea of exactly how to angle yourself, see the video included in most trick descriptions. If you are in the middle of an adult dungeon and jump into the guide, it can be hard to tell where you are in the text--in this case, you can try to backtrack to a landmark and go from there through the guide. One final note is that some parts of this guide are not very specific. If you are attempting the Uber Challenge, you should be familiar enough with the game that you can get through it under normal conditions without this guide. If you need more in-depth help, look for a walkthrough on GameFAQs. This guide focuses mainly on the parts of the game that may need to be done differently because of the restrictions of the Uber Challenge. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section 4 Uber Challenge Video ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* After much urging from those who have taken or have thought about taking the Uber Challenge, I made a video of the whole thing. Yep, all of it. Its homepage is here: http://manocheese.googlepages.com/uberchallenge I'd recommend only referring to the video when you are completely stuck. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section 5 Walkthrough ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* For each section, I will describe where to go and give you tips and reminders to aid you in your quest. You may also see boxes like this: ******************************************************************************* Trick: Trick Name Difficulty: */10 Explanation: How to do the trick Video: A video or videos of the trick being performed. If the link is on Google Video, it's the exact same as the one above it; I have most of the videos on Google Video and YouTube since YouTube seems to be down quite often. ******************************************************************************* These boxes tell you that a trick must be used. The Uber Challenge would not be possible if it were not for many tricks. Some of them are difficult; some are not so difficult. Some are hard to explain, so a video is necessary. Note that I did not discover most of these; see the credits of this FAQ for many discoverers. Be on the lookout for these as well: ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Enemy Name Strategy: How to beat the enemy ******************************************************************************* These boxes warn you of an enemy that may give you trouble. I'll provide an effective strategy for defeating the enemy to help you take them down. Last, but not least, watch for these: ******************************************************************************* IMPORTANT NOTE ******************************************************************************* These boxes will tell you of areas you wouldn't normally visit in the Uber Challenge, but that might be necessary in order to help you avoid restarting the whole entire thing. ******************************************************************************* CHILD ******************************************************************************* The child section of the Uber Challenge is the easier of the two. One of the tricks is monstrously difficult, but the rest are fairly simple. The battles aren't too tough; Nintendo normally expected you to have only a little more than three hearts for the child dungeons (except Spirit Temple), so the enemies won't cause too much trouble. Here are some reminders for the child section: -Make sure you've read section 2. Yes, the whole entire thing. -Always have the rules and the route handy; you don't want to mess up. -Don't pick up Heart Pieces or Heart Containers. -Don't get any Maps or Compasses. -Don't get the Silver Scale. -Don't use Deku Sticks to attack enemies. -Don't use power crouch stabs. -Don't learn any songs except Zelda's Lullaby and the Song of Time. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section 5.1 Deku Tree and Reaching Jabu Jabu ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section Tips and Reminders: -Don't pick up the Heart Container after beating Gohma. -Don't use Deku Sticks to attack enemies. -Be sure to save several Deku Sticks and Deku Nuts; you will need them later. -Collect some Gold Skulltula Tokens. Walkthrough: You'll start off as usual. Collect 40 rupees, get the Kokiri Sword, get the Deku Shield, and go to the Great Deku Tree. This dungeon is pretty much played the same in the Uber Challenge as it is in a normal playthrough of the game, so you won't have any problems with it. After getting the Kokiri's Emerald, get the Fairy Ocarina from Saria. Head over to Lake Hylia and enter the Fishing Pond. ******************************************************************************* Trick: Prize Upgrade Difficulty: 1/10 Explanation: After catching a fish that will net you a prize, swim to the center of the pond. Face the owner, then press and hold Z and R. Make sure this doesn't target any fish. Now, swim forward, still holding Z and R, and talk to the owner. He'll give you the Golden Scale. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdjElXZYADY ******************************************************************************* With the Golden Scale, you can now dive deep enough to get Ruto's Letter. Do so, then dive into the Zora's Domain warp. From there, show the letter to King Zora, then proceed to Zora's Fountain. You don't have a fish, so you'll have to get into Jabu Jabu without one. ******************************************************************************* Trick: Enter Jabu Jabu Without Fish Difficulty: 4/10 Explanation: Get on top of the railing to the left of Jabu Jabu (your right as you go towards him) and jump at him, jumpslashing in midair. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MP4YPuL-MhM ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section 5.2 Jabu Jabu's Belly ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section Tips and Reminders: -Don't pick up the Heart Container after beating Barinade. -Collect some Gold Skulltula Tokens. Walkthrough: Jabu Jabu's Belly won't pose too many problems for you. Bigocto is fairly easy to defeat without getting hit, but Barinade may give you a bit of trouble. ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Barinade Strategy: Kill the tentacles with the boomerang, then Z Target Barinade. Stun it with the boomerang, then kill all the jellyfish attached to it. Once Barinade starts moving, dodge it and stun it once again with the boomerang. Attack with your sword when it is stunned. The pots at the edges of the arena will replenish your health. ******************************************************************************* After defeating Barinade, claim Zora's Sapphire. Head down to Zora's River and buy a Magic Bean. Then, go to the castle. Get the Weird Egg and evade the guards until you reach Talon, then wake him up, move the blocks, enter the hole, and evade the second set of guards. Talk to Zelda to receive Zelda's Letter, then learn Zelda's Lullaby from Impa. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section 5.3 To the Spirit Temple ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section Tips and Reminders: -Make sure you practice going through the Haunted Wasteland without the Lens of Truth BEFORE you actually try it with only three hearts. -Don't learn the Requiem of Spirit. -Keep trying those tricks! They're really difficult, but you can do it! Walkthrough: Surprise, surprise! This section is really difficult! In fact, it's the hardest in the entire child section! Well, no use fretting about it. Go to Gerudo Valley. Study the pattern of the guards' movements from the other side of the canyon. Make sure you have it down, then get ready for a tough trick. ******************************************************************************* Trick: Gerudo Valley Cucco Jump Difficulty: 10/10 Explanation: Grab the very convenient cucco, then go on top of one of the stakes on the bridge. I always use the one on my left as I am coming from Hyrule Field. Go to the very edge of the stake, then turn around, run and jump off the stake, and jumpslash next to the gate to get on top. NOTE: I receive a lot of e-mails and get a lot of posts in the Uber Challenge topic asking for help on this. It's as if people ignore my warnings that state clearly that it's hard. This is called the Uber Challenge for a reason. Don't ask me for help after attempting this for a short amount of time (a few hours is a short amount of time) and don't say "I did exactly what the video did!" If you had, then it would have worked. Keep trying and don't give up. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_CC95dOV1A http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2308309531400088842 ******************************************************************************* This trick is extremely difficult, but you WILL get it with practice. After you have gotten over the gate, drop down immediately. Because Nintendo was lazy, they used the guards from Gerudo's Fortress in Gerudo Valley, even though they thought child Link couldn't get there. So, these guards will catch you if you are careless and you'll have to do the gate skip again. This is why you should study their movement patterns first. If you manage to evade them and get to Gerudo's Fortress, pat yourself on the back. Save in Thieves' Hideout. I would recommend loading up a finished file at this point and memorizing the path through the Haunted Wasteland so you can do it without the Lens of Truth. This is much easier than it sounds. After doing that, load up your Uber Challenge file and prepare for another trick. ******************************************************************************* Trick: Gerudo's Fortress Gate Skip Difficulty: 3/10 Explanation: Climb up the ladder near the giant gate, then turn around, angle yourself, and sidehop to the nearby cliff. Then, run down, jump, and jumpslash to get past the gate. You can also use a well-placed sidehop. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGPxd_QHY04 http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1342469356441235388 ******************************************************************************* Proceed to the Haunted Wasteland. ******************************************************************************* Trick: Quicksand Backwalk Difficulty: 4/10 Explanation: Go to the leftmost side of the quicksand in the Haunted Wasteland. Angle yourself, turn around, walk forward to get out of the sand's grip, and backwalk to get past the quicksand. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNtUYnNWToY http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=799218393402546753 ******************************************************************************* After successfully getting past the quicksand, use your memorized route through the Haunted Wasteland to reach the Desert Colossus. Go to the Spirit Temple. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section 5.4 Spirit Temple--Child ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section Tips and Reminders: -Don't waste your bombchus; you will need them later. -If you run out of Deku Sticks, you will have a hard time getting more. Make sure you use them sparingly. Walkthrough: Go forward and talk to Nabooru. After she moves aside, crawl through the hole. Burn your Deku Shield by making contact with the Fire Keese, then shoot them with your Slingshot. ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Armos Strategy: You aren't allowed to attack with Deku Sticks, but you can still use Deku Nuts. Stun the Armos with one and jumpslash him, then dodge the resulting explosion. ******************************************************************************* After the enemies are dead, light a Deku Stick and enter the room on the right. Light the torches here. Then, go back and enter the other door. You'll come to a room where you would normally need the boomerang. Instead, go to the very right hand side of the room and use your Slingshot to shoot around the gate. You'll want to do this quickly, as there is a Stalfos nearby-you can leave the room and come back to reset his location and try again to hit the crystal. Proceed to the next room. ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Anubis Strategy: Destroy the pots in front of you with your Slingshot, then roll past the razor and turn around on the S-shaped platform. Go to the edge of it and shoot the crystal switch. If the Anubis doesn't burn up, adjust your position. ******************************************************************************* Go back around the platform and proceed to the next room. Grab the key and backtrack to the room where you burned your shield. Crawl through the hole and unlock the door. Shoot the Skullwalltulas and climb up. Hit a crystal switch with your Slingshot to make some bombchus drop and then collect them. Shoot the Skulltulas and use a bombchu to blow up the rock. Watch for Lizalfos-if one comes down before you bombchu the rock, he can interfere with that process. Stun him with a Deku Nut if he shows up. From here, you'll proceed as normal through the dungeon. You will eventually reach the Iron Knuckle. ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Iron Knuckle Strategy: Z Target the Iron Knuckle, then step towards him. When he is about to attack, backflip to avoid his blow and then jumpslash him. Repeat until he is dead. Don't waste your time getting hearts; he will kill you in one hit regardless of your HP because you only have a maximum of three hearts, which is less than the amount of damage his attacks will do. ******************************************************************************* Collect the Silver Gauntlets and save while outside the Spirit Temple. You'll be warped back to Link's house. Head over to Kakariko Village and show Zelda's Letter to the guard. On Death Mountain Trail, use a bomb flower (you can pick them up because you have the Silver Gauntlets, so the game assumes you have the Goron Bracelet) to get into Dodongo's Cavern. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section 5.5 Dodongo's Cavern and Item Collection ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section Tips and Reminders: -Don't pick up the Heart Container after beating King Dodongo. -Collect some Gold Skulltula Tokens. Walkthrough: You'll have no trouble getting through the puzzles in Dodongo's Cavern, but certain enemies might cause problems for you. ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Lizalfos Strategy: Z Target the Lizalfos. Use a Deku Nut to stun him when he is about to attack, then jumpslash him. He will probably jump up and attack you; stun him with a Deku Nut. Repeat this process. If you run out of Deku Nuts, you can jumpslash a Lizalfos, then jump to another platform to avoid his counterattack. The first wave of Lizalfos is easier because you are on much bigger platforms and thus have more room to dodge. There are many hearts in these arenas as well. ******************************************************************************* The Lizalfos are the most troublesome part of this section. King Dodongo shouldn't pose more of a threat than normal; you have basically the same equipment and health as you would have under more casual circumstances. After beating King Dodongo, get the Goron's Ruby from Darunia. Now, it's time to run around and get some stuff. First, head up to the top of Death Mountain and get the Magic Meter. To get past the falling stones, either backwalk or roll. After collecting the Magic Meter, let Kaepora Gaebora take you down to Kakariko Village, then get the Adult's Wallet. If you don't have ten Gold Skulltula tokens, go to Hyrule Field and wait until it is nighttime, then kill some Gold Skulltulas in Kakariko Village. Head to the Graveyard and plant your Magic Bean, then go to the castle and get the Ocarina of Time. Get Din's Fire as well. Before going to the future, check your number of bombchus- you'll want to have at least seven for the adult portion of the Challenge, but probably more. Buy some from the bombchu shop if you're short, then pull the Master Sword from its pedestal. ******************************************************************************* ADULT ******************************************************************************* The adult section of the Uber Challenge is harder than the child section. Tricks are more numerous and enemies are more lethal. The dungeons are longer and you have more oppurtunities to get lost. So, I will go much more in-depth than I did in the child section. There are some things you should remember while playing through the adult portion of the Uber Challenge: -Always have the rules and the route handy; you don't want to mess up. -Don't pick up Heart Pieces or Heart Containers. -Don't get any Maps or Compasses. -Don't attack enemies with the Megaton Hammer with the exception of stunning Volvagia. -Don't use power crouch stabs. -Use the Broken Giant's Knife at all times, except in the Graveyard and while fighting Ganon. -Get all the Medallions. -Don't learn any songs except the Minuet of Forest. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section 5.6 More Item Collection ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Walkthrough: Upon viewing the cutscenes that result from pulling the Master Sword, go to the room with the pots in the former Hyrule Castle Town Market. Collect rupees until you have amassed 200 of them. From there, go to Goron City. Use your fortune to purchase a Giant's Knife, then promptly break it. Stop the Goron's wild, wild rolling to get the Goron Tunic. Descend to Kakariko Village, and head to the Graveyard. Pull Dampe's gravestone and race him for the Hookshot. Then, pull the gravestone that leads to the Fairy's Fountain; it has plants in front of it. Collect the Hylian Shield, then ride the magic leaf to the platform with the box. Equip your Hylian Shield and Master Sword, but don't break the box. You'll have to use it for entry to the Shadow Temple. ******************************************************************************* Trick: Shadow Early with Torch Skip Difficulty: 8/10 Explanation: Get on top of the box, then line yourself up with the ledge in front of you. Hold Z. Pull out a bombchu, then jump and shield drop the bombchu by pressing R. Release Z and R and press B to jumpslash and gain extra height. This combination will boost you to the ledge. Now, make your way to the tip-top of the grass. Walk to the right along the top until you reach the ledge at the back of the Graveyard, just behind the warp pad. Now, angle yourself and sidehop and you'll hopefully land in the area below. You will have bypassed the loading point for that area, so the door will not be there. Walk right into the Shadow Temple. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHO-ZM4ibPA http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5137440371646841699 ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section 5.7 Shadow Temple ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section Tips and Reminders: -Don't pick up the Heart Container after beating Bongo Bongo. -If you are having trouble finding your way around without the Lens of Truth, load up a completed file and explore the dungeon with the Lens equipped, noting the positions of key objects. Walkthrough: Unequip the Master Sword. Cross the gap with the Hookshot, then go through the face in front of you. Go through another one of the faces to reach a maze-like room; get through this by staying on the left and going through paintings with lit eyes. Not all of the paintings with lit eyes are able to be walked through, but every painting that can be walked through has lit eyes. Once you get the Hover Boots in the final room, backtrack to the room with the bird statue and equip them. Push the statue once, then hover off to the side and see if it was the right position. If not, wait several seconds and try again. Once the correct position is found, hover across the gap and go through the mouth. Descend through this corridor and go left. Get the silver rupees in this room and collect the key. Go back to the previous room, then bomb the wall to your left and proceed. Kill the Big Skulltulas with your Hookshot. Once you reach the large room, go straight ahead until you reach the Stalfos platform. Equip your Hover Boots and go left; there is no need to fight the Stalfos. The platforms you are moving on are invisible, but they're extremely large, so there's little risk of falling off. Go straight from the Stalfos platform to the visible platform, then straight to the door from there. In the next room, feed your shield to the Like Like and then kill him and retrieve it, but don't equip it. Backtrack to the previous room. Cross the invisible platforms to reach the Stalfos platform once again. Ignore him and go straight ahead. Collect the silver rupees and proceed. Push the block and use it to shield you from the falling spikes, then climb it and press the switch. Get the key and go back to the large room. Go left and hover straight across to an invisible platform. Go forward and left until you find the corner of this platform. Then, back up and run towards the alcove with the door. If you do not land on the next invisible platform, try again. If you do, hover over to the door and open it. In the next room, equip your Hover Boots-they will help you avoid taking damage from spikes. You can collect three silver rupees fairly easily, but the other two will require you to go to the upper level. To do so, go straight and left from the entrance to run into a big block. Look up and fire your Hookshot until you find a target; there is one on the wall directly across from the door you entered through. Face directly left on the leftmost side of the top of the block, then backwalk and backflip with the Hover Boots to get to the other big block. From there, you can get the other silver rupees. Here is a video of the backwalk hover: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tt2g_V1Dobo http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8531006720763902946 Enter the newly opened door. Kill all the enemies with your Hookshot, then toss a bomb flower into the big pot. Get the key and return to the previous room. Make your way back up to the key door and unlock it. Wait until the fans stop in the fan room before trying to go through their wind. Once you get through the individual fan passageways, you will reach a room with three fans spread out horizontally along the walls. Wait until the first one stops, then go in front of it. Do the same for the second, then, while the third is still blowing, equip your Hover Boots and let the wind carry you through a fake wall. In the Gibdo room, bomb the dirt pile near the entrance and open the invisible chest. Stun one of the Gibdos with your Hookshot, then run past him. In the boat room, pull and push the block into position and climb the ladder. Activate the boat ride. Run around to dodge the Stalfos or fight them if you wish. Abandon ship once you reach the other side of the room and then enter the door. In the maze room, use trial and error to find which walls are real and which aren't. The Floormasters don't pose much of a threat. Go counterclockwise and enter the door with the Boss Key. You can't use Din's Fire, though, so you can't burn the spiky walls. ******************************************************************************* Trick: Din's Fire Boss Key Skip Difficulty: 4/10 Explanation: Upon entrance to the room, run to the wall on the right and take out your Broken Giant's Knife, but don't swing it. The Redead will wake up and freeze you and you will remain in the same position while the wall keeps moving. Once control is restored, you will be on the the other side of the wall and can claim the Boss Key. Immediately save to avoid being crushed by the walls, as they will hurt you even if you are on the non-spiky side of them. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5V1WrmpsPI http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2851258549571316202 ******************************************************************************* With the Boss Key, head from the start of the dungeon back to the maze room with the Floormasters. Move clockwise around the room and enter the room with the invisible Floormaster. ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Floormaster Strategy: Z Target the Floormaster and dodge its initial charge. Slash it until it splits up into multiple small Floormasters. Use a Deku Nut to stun them all at once, then Z Target one of them and slash it to defeat it. Use another Deku Nut to stun the remaining two, then Z Target one and kill it. Do the same for the last one. ******************************************************************************* Once the Floormaster is dead, pick up the key it leaves behind. Leave the maze room. You'll notice a problem, however-there is a huge gap between you and the door you need to go through, and you don't have arrows. Normally, you'd shoot an arrow to detonate the bomb flowers, which would cause a statue to fall, granting you access to the other side. Luckily, bombchus save the day again. ******************************************************************************* Trick: Light Shadow Bomb Flowers with Bombchu Difficulty: 6/10 Explanation: Approach the edge of the platform closest to the bird statue. Then, move over so you are very near the wall. Aim yourself, then release a bombchu and hope it makes it to the bomb flowers. Test different angles to see which gets closest. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHh8cI3cXVs http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7847996708767766912 ******************************************************************************* Now that the pillar is knocked down, you can reach the other side of the chasm. Use your key. In the next room, there are many invisible platforms. Memorizing the route to the other side is easy, however-load up a completed file and do so. Cross the platforms, then prepare for Bongo Bongo. ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Bongo Bongo Strategy: Equip your Hover Boots. Get near the hands while they are pounding the drum and Z Target one of them. Take out your Hookshot. You'll notice that you are on the ground for a limited amount of time before being launched into the air. The only time you can fire your Hookshot is while you are on the ground. If you manage to hit a hand with the Hookshot, the other will attack; roll around to dodge or negate the damage, then stun him. If you take too long trying to stun the first, you will be vulnerable; right before they enter their attack phase, start rolling around to dodge or negate the damage. At any rate, you will eventually stun both hands, at which point the main body will charge at you. It is invisible, but it is a big target that is easy to locate. It's always right between the hands. Hit it with your Hookshot, then attack with your sword. When he gets up, you can try to quickly hit both hands before they start their pounding phase. Otherwise, repeat the other strategy until both hands are once again stunned. Bongo Bongo is tough, but you will eventually beat him. His attacks will normally NOT kill you in one hit. ******************************************************************************* Upon defeating Bongo Bongo, collect the Shadow Medallion. Head up to Goron City, then pull the statue in Darunia's room and proceed to the Crater. Equip the Goron Tunic. You cannot collect the Bolero of Fire, but it is easily bypassed. ******************************************************************************* Trick: Bolero Skip Difficulty: 2/10 Explanation: From the ledge you enter on when coming from Goron City, hover over to the cinder cone. Jump down onto the ledge with the warp pad. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHn05FEiWmU http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-103693133808152905 ******************************************************************************* Enter the Fire Temple. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section 5.8 Fire Temple ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section Tips and Reminders: -Don't pick up the Heart Container after beating Volvagia. -There are multiple big drops in the Fire Temple; climb down them instead of dropping to conserve health. -Torch Slugs are not affected by normal slashes of the Broken Giant's Knife; you will need to jumpslash or use an item. Several enemies are like this in the adult temples, so be aware! -This is the only section in the game where you can attack with the Megaton Hammer; you need it to stun Volvagia, and besides that, it is never used to fight. Walkthrough: Go up the stairs, then enter the door on your left. Get the key by freeing the Goron. Leave and enter the door directly across from you. Turn left and take the lower door for another key. Leave this room, then go directly across the main room for yet another key. Leave this room, then turn right in the main room and push the big block into the lava stream and ascend using it. Proceed through the next room. In the maze room, the boulders look threatening, but they only take away a quarter of a heart. Free the Goron in this room and the one in the room next to it. Then, enter the door that leads to the precipice room. Get the hearts in this room. Proceed through the wall of fire room and get to the top of the maze. Bomb the crack, then climb down and get the key. Climb back up, then free the Goron. Go back to the wall of fire room, then use a key to open the locked door. In the U-shaped room, go left and use your last remaining key. Go straight in the next room to reach the other side of the U- shaped room. Disable the large wall of fire, then climb up and replenish your supplies for the Flare Dancer battle. ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Flare Dancer Strategy: Z Target the Flare Dancer once it gets off the block. Pull out the nucleus with your Hookshot, then slash it until it jumps back into the fire. Repeat until it dies. When it does, watch out for the explosion. ******************************************************************************* Proceed until you get the Megaton Hammer. Follow the path near its chest to get back to the U-shaped room. Pound the switch in front of you, then go in the door that opens and get the key. Return to the U-shaped room, then pound the big block to get to the room where you talked to Darunia. From there, go back to the entrance and pound the statues to reveal a door; open it and kill the enemies inside. You will fight another Flare Dancer after going through the next room; defeat it like you did the last. After that, get the Boss Key and proceed to fight Volvagia. ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Volvagia Strategy: Volvagia will start making fire show up in one lava pit at a time; wait until she actually sticks her head up, then dodge her hair. Hit her with the Megaton Hammer, then jumpslash her with your sword. Then, hold onto the edge of the platform until Volvagia's attack is finished. Repeat the process until she is dead. ******************************************************************************* After you have defeated Volvagia, enter the blue light and receive the Fire Medallion. When you are returned to Death Mountain Crater, save in order to exit without getting the Bolero of Fire. Then, make your way to the Lost Woods. Mido will block your path, and you'll have to be tricky to get past him. ******************************************************************************* Trick: Mido Skip Difficulty: 4/10 Explanation: Get on the side of Mido closest to the pond. Face the pond with C Up, then immediately backflip. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLSDZ0VhmLU ******************************************************************************* Go through the rest of the Lost Woods until you reach the Sacred Forest Meadow. Get past the Moblins very carefully, then learn the Minuet of Forest. Enter the Forest Temple. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section 5.9 Forest Temple ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section Tips and Reminders: -Don't pick up the Heart Container after beating Phantom Ganon. -This is the first adult temple where the enemies throughout the temple, not just the boss, will be challenging. If you thought the enemies in the Shadow or Fire Temples were hard, you'll be hurting here. Walkthrough: Climb the vines at your right and get the key. Proceed to the main room and activate the cutscene, then go straight until you reach the Stalfos. Up until now, you have seen a total of four Stalfos and have ignored them all, but now, you have no choice but to fight. ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Stalfos Strategy: Z Target the Stalfos. Notice thier attack patterns-if you stay away from them, they will move from side to side, then move closer to you for an attack. You should always stun them before attacking. This can be done with the Hookshot or Deku Nuts. The Hookshot is recommended, but Deku Nuts are fast and can get you out of a tight spot. If you walk right next to a Stalfos and use your Hookshot, you can sometimes bypass its defenses. Besides that, one way to stun a Stalfos is to wait with your Hookshot loaded until he attacks and immediately fire when he does. Once a Stalfos is stunned, take out your sword and jumpslash it. It takes five jumpslashes with the Broken Giant's Knife to kill one Stalfos. Note that Stalfos are honorable fighters-as long as you remain Z Targeted to one, the other will usually not attack you. It DOES happen occasionally, though, so be on guard. If you attack a Stalfos and he immediately jumpslashes, run towards him; you will go under him and he'll be open to attack. There are numerous pots in the arena with which you can replenish your health. ******************************************************************************* Once the two Stalfos are defeated, get the key and go back to the main room. Take a right and play the Song of Time to eliminate a block that is in front of a door. Go through this door and defeat the Big Deku Baba for fifteen Deku Nuts. You must defeat it while it is NOT standing upright-otherwise, it will yield a worthless Deku Stick. This is not necessary, but it helps to have extra Deku Nuts. Climb the vines at your right, then open the door. ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Blue Bubble Strategy: Throw a Deku Nut at the Blue Bubble to stun it, then jumpslash it. Throw another to stun it yet again, then finish it off. ******************************************************************************* Ignore the chest and proceed. Drain the well with the red switch. Drop down into it and claim the key, then climb out of the well and go back to the main room. Open the only remaining locked door and go straight. Climb two ladders and wrap around the nearby ledge, then hover over to the door in an alcove. Open it, then go in the door at your left to see a Floormaster. ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Floormaster Strategy: You can only damage this Floormaster when he is not green. Wait for him to charge twice and he'll lose his invincibility; this is your oppurtunity to attack. From there, use the same strategy that you used to defeat the one in the Shadow Temple. ******************************************************************************* Collect the key that appears, then go back to the room with the ladders and blocks. Push all the blocks into position and proceed to the twisted corridor. Use a key here to get to a staircase with Poe paintings. At the bottom, enter the door and prepare for another Stalfos fight. ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Stalfos Strategy: The first Stalfos is alone, but you must fight him with a hole in the middle of the battlefield. Once he is finished, two more will come down. When you kill one of them, his bones will lie on the floor-if you take too long to defeat the other, the first will come back to life with full health. To avoid this, hit one Stalfos with four jumpslashes, then switch to the other and kill him. The remaining Stalfos will only take one jumpslash to kill. Otherwise, use the same tactics as before. ******************************************************************************* When all the Stalfos are dead, claim the Bow. Go into the door with a red carpet underneath it and shoot the paintings to make Joelle appear. ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Joelle, Beth, and Amy Strategy: The first three Poe Sister battles are all exactly the same. Hit them with an arrow, then back up and wait with an arrow ready until they appear. When they do, shoot them again. Rinse, lather, repeat. ******************************************************************************* Get the key, then take the bottom door to the room where you found the Bow. Enter the door with the blue carpet this time and shoot the paintings until Beth appears. Defeat her, ignoring the chest she leaves. Go to the top of this staircase and unlock the door. Go to the right and use your last key to get to a room with a frozen eye switch. Shoot an arrow through the fire to twist the nearby corridor. Proceed through said corridor and drop down a hole in the floor. Cross the checkerboard room and shoot the painting. Solve the block puzzle and defeat Amy. After she is finished, go through the newly opened door, go straight, and then drop down and prepare for a fight. ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Meg Strategy: Meg behaves very differently from her sisters. She will clone herself and revolve around you. Stay in third person mode and you'll notice that the real Meg will rotate once-shoot her with an arrow. Repeat until she is dead. ******************************************************************************* The elevator will rise, but don't take it-instead, head over to the room with the ladders and blocks. Go all the way to the top of this room and shoot the eye switch to untwist the twisted corridor. Go through it, then get the Boss Key. Drop down, fight two Blue Bubbles, and go back to the main room. Take the elevator down to the rotating room and solve the puzzle by opening all the gates. Open the boss door. ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Phantom Ganon Strategy: In Phantom Ganon's first phase, he will ride out of a painting and become vulnerable for several seconds. He will then attack you. The real Phantom Ganon is much brighter than the fake one-shoot the real one with an arrow. After three hits, he'll enter his second phase. Use an empty bottle to deflect his shots, then jumpslash him once. After one jumpslash, slash him normally until he gets back up. If you spend longer reflecting his shots back and forth, he will stay vulnerable for a longer period of time. Note that sometimes, the bottle will reflect shots haphazardly-keep hitting them back and they'll eventually go where they need to. ******************************************************************************* After claiming the Forest Medallion, head over to Lake Hylia. You don't have the Iron Boots, so you'll have to enter the Water Temple without them. ******************************************************************************* Trick: Enter Water Temple Without Iron Boots Difficulty: 6/10 Explanation: Get on the rock ledge on the center island and go as far as you can in the water without swimming, then fire your Hookshot at the crystal. Dive down into the Water Temple. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOq7XA4g5IM http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2543141353342902821 ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section 5.10 Water Temple ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section Tips and Reminders: -Don't pick up the Heart Container after beating Morpha. -Copy your file onto another before starting the Water Temple-it's easy to use a key in the wrong place. Walkthrough: Kill the Tektite that is in front of you and to the left as you enter, then go to the right side of the central platform. ******************************************************************************* Trick: Din's Dive Difficulty: 3/10 Explanation: Get on the very edge of the platform, then use Din's Fire right before a Tektite hits you to be knocked down. You'll sink during the cutscene. After you gain control of Link, quickly swim to the tunnel nearby. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhOQxZgJ-ss http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8105837424381584717 ******************************************************************************* Talk to Ruto and swim up. Lower the water level and drop back down. Light the torches with your arrows and enter the door. Get the key, then save your game and reload. Hover across to the top platform and hover to the right. Drop down and pull the block all the way back. Turn around and Hookshot back up. Jump down to the second level and go right. Light the torch with an arrow and enter the door. Change the water level, then leave the way you came. Make your way around to the opposite side of the central platform and shoot the eye switch. Hover across, then push the block and get the key. Hookshot up, then jump down into the water and dive into the passage leading to where Ruto was. Swim to the crack in the wall. Bomb it and get the key. Save your game and reload, then hover across to the main platform and kill the Tektite on your left. ******************************************************************************* Trick: High Grab Difficulty: 3/10 Explanation: Aim yourself at the corner of the central platform nearest the water level switch, then roll and jump. Hold forward and left, then pull yourself up. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOPKRGAoif4 http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3784906248402316214 ******************************************************************************* Change the water level. Go left and open the locked door. Proceed through the next two rooms, then prepare for a fight with Dark Link. ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Dark Link Strategy: Dark Link is a difficult foe. You won't be able to just slash away at him-that'll make him hit you. Instead, use your forward stab to drive him into a corner. He'll keep backflipping. Now, hit him while he lands and he'll be off guard. It takes six hits to kill him. Note that right after he is revived and walks over to you, he'll likely be vulnerable for a short time because of an inability to block your blows; use a forward stab on him. ******************************************************************************* After defeating Dark Link, don't get the Longshot. Play the Song of Time and navigate through the vortexes by hugging the walls. For the first vortex, hug the left wall. Then, for the following vortexes, hug the right, then the left. At the end, shoot the eye switch and get the key. Save and reload. Go to the right and perform yet another Din's Dive. Lower the water and go back to the main room. Head right and go through a passage. You'll notice some spikes that you'd normally have to use the Longshot to get over. Hover Boots will also work. ******************************************************************************* Trick: Water Temple Boss Key Hover Difficulty: 2/10 Explanation: Face away from the spikes with your Hover Boots on. Backwalk towards them and backflip to get on top. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0g6tlddbs6Y http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-9038118301732985594 ******************************************************************************* Use a key. Hover over to the waterfall and grab the edge, then get on top of the nearby ledge. Wait for a boulder to pass, then jump into the water with your Kokiri Boots and bob under the wall. Swim up, unlock the door, and get the Boss Key. Save and reload. Do a high grab to raise the water level, then proceed to the ledge across from the boss. ******************************************************************************* Trick: Water Temple Boss Door Hover Difficulty: 4/10 Explanation: Get next to the wall, then line yourself up with it. Step back a bit, then, while facing the wall, pull out a bomb and let the explosion hit you. Pause right after it hits you and equip the Hover Boots, then run backwards and grab onto the ledge. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIGof_WIS4o http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5263009497434987962 ******************************************************************************* Go through the next room and open the door to the boss. ******************************************************************************* IMPORTANT NOTE If you cannot open the last door before the Boss Key, don't fret. There is another key you can obtain. While the water is at its lowest, go to the bottom level of the main room. Look for a block that you can push and do so. You will find a passageway to a room with currents and a crystal switch. Hit this switch with a bombchu and quickly dive down into the nearby alcove to find a key. Go back to the door that leads to the Boss Key and open it. Here is a video showing this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9i-8J3UyawE http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8805461643234951349 If you don't have any bombchus, your best bet is to restart the Water Temple, assuming you created a save at the beginning. If you did didn't create a save, you don't have enough keys to open the door that leads to the Boss Key, AND you don't have any bombchus, you'll have to go get some. The only place you can is the flying carpet salesman in the Haunted Wasteland. Amass 200 rupees and follow the instructions in "To the Spirit Temple-Again!" to reach the Haunted Wasteland. At this point, you'll want to complete the Spirit Temple before the Water Temple to avoid having to perform a rather difficult trick twice. You still must complete the Water Temple, though, in accordance with the rules of the Uber Challenge. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Morpha Strategy: Get into the corner of the boss room. Wait for Morpha to make a giant water tentacle, then pull out the nucleus and slash it. Repeat. You can also pull out the nucleus, then line yourself up so that it is in between you and the corner between two walls; you can then slash at it until it's dead without having to worry about it going back into the water. ******************************************************************************* Once Morpha is defeated, claim the Water Medallion. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section 5.11 To the Spirit Temple--Again! ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Walkthrough: Since going to the Spirit Temple before was so much fun, you get to do it again! This time, though, you'll be using different tricks. Head to Gerudo Valley. You'll have to use the same trick here to cross the canyon as you used to cross over to the boss door in the Water Temple. Here is a video of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKHXxXFvoNc http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1085932314530027424 In Gerudo's Fortress, you must make your way to the top of the fortress-this is most easily accomplished by getting caught by a guard, then Hookshotting the bar of wood above the cell and jumping down to a nearby ledge. Go in the door and shoot the guards, then head up to the top of the fortress. ******************************************************************************* Trick: Gerudo's Fortress Gate Skip--Adult Difficulty: 8/10 Explanation: From the top of Gerudo's Fortress, climb the box and face straight at the wall. Walk towards it and take out your Broken Giant's Knife. Then, equip your Hover Boots and diagonal walk to the left. Just before your hover runs out, sidehop and jumpslash to get on top of the rail. Now that you are on the rail, face the small pillar directly to your right and turn around. Walk until you are almost off the edge. Run forward to gain some momentum, then run left off the rail and roll. Just before your hover runs out, turn to the right and sidehop to the left. A jumpslash after the sidehop can also help. If done properly, this will get you on the cliff face. Now, walk upwards and left to get off the slippery part of the cliff. Walk along the cliff for a while, then walk down it. Hover over to the other side past the fake wall, being careful not to get too close to the guard, then walk into the Haunted Wasteland. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkwP5VqESZM http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6761123598323880328 ******************************************************************************* Now that you've got the hard work out of the way, cross the quicksand and follow the flags, then proceed through the rest of the Wasteland and the Desert Colossus and enter the Spirit Temple. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section 5.12 Spirit Temple-Adult ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section Tips and Reminders: -Don't pick up the Heart Container after beating Twinrova. -The Spirit Temple is the easiest adult temple in the Uber Challenge. Walkthrough: Push the big block and hit the switch overhead with your Hookshot. Go to the right and collect all the silver rupees, then proceed. Get the key in this room. Go back, then open the locked door. Climb up the wall and stun the invisible Floormaster with a Deku Nut. Push the mirror once, then stun the Floormaster again. Repeat until the nearby door opens, then enter it. Go up the stairs and jump to the statue's hand. Play Zelda's Lullaby to make a key chest appear. Go to the other set of stairs and jump to the hand with this chest. Collect the key and go back to the stairs you originally climbed. Make your way to the top and unlock the door. Kill the Beamos in the room with the Anubises. ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Anubis Strategy: There are three Anubises in this room. Each one will move in a certain direction depending on where you move. If they run into fire, they will die. So, step on the switch in the room and run around until you find the right places to stand to make each Anubis run into the fire. Two are in the corners of the room, but one is over a bottomless pit-use the Song of Time to create a block so you can safely stand there. ******************************************************************************* Proceed through the newly opened door. Lure one of the Armos onto the switch and open the door, then fight the Iron Knuckle. Get the Mirror Shield and return to the room with the Armos. Equip the Mirror Shield and reflect light onto the sun symbol, then get the key and return to the room where you fought the Anubises. Unlock the door. Kill the two Beamos and the Skullwalltula, then Hookshot to the middle section of the wall and climb up the rest of the way. Proceed and play Zelda's Lullaby to open the door, then get the Boss Key. Leave and turn right. Dodge the flying pots and jumpslash the switch to open a nearby door. Enter it and you'll be confronted by a Lizalfos. Stun him while you put all the mirrors in position, then return to the previous room. Reflect light on the sun symbol to lower the platform. Make the statue's face crumble, then Hookshot to the boss door. ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Nabooru Strategy: Nabooru will fight like a normal Iron Knuckle, but she will never lose any armor until she dies. Fight her as usual and be cautious. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Twinrova Strategy: For the first phase of the battle, you'll want to stand in a corner to be safer from attack. Reflect one witch's attack at the other until they merge, then absorb three same-element attacks in a row and throw it right back. Slash them until they get up, then repeat. ******************************************************************************* After you get the Spirit Medallion, go back in the Spirit Temple and let a Like Like eat your Hylian Shield. This is done to let you continue through the game without a shield equipped. After this is finished, you'll need to get to the Desert Colossus, but you must use the exit behind either Iron Knuckle or the Twinrova warp to avoid collecting the Requiem of Spirit. Once you're in the Desert Colossus, save and reload and you'll get the Light Arrows. Head to Ganon's Castle. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section 5.13 Ganon's Castle ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section Tips and Reminders: -Don't give up! The final battles are at hand, and you're almost done. Walkthrough: ******************************************************************************* IMPORTANT NOTE If you saved in the Desert Colossus before eliminating your shield, you do not have to go all the way back to the Spirit Temple to do so. Simply go to the Fire Temple. You will have to use the Lost Woods warp to get to Goron City, though, or else you will learn the Nocturne of Shadow. In the Fire Temple, there is a Like Like fairly close to the entrance-go up the stairs and to the right, then take a left and play the Song of Time to reveal an upper path. Follow it and you'll find a Like Like who will gladly devour your Hylian Shield. Exit the Temple and save. Reload your game and you will be at the Temple of Time and can go straight to Ganon's Castle. ******************************************************************************* In Ganon's Castle, you'll notice a problem. In the Shadow Trial, you can't cross the large gaps, so you can't finish it. Since you can't get the Golden Gauntlets from the Shadow Trial, you can't complete the Fire Trial and you can't even enter the Light Trial. The Spirit Trial requires use of the Mirror Shield, which you can't equip. The Forest Trial requires Din's Fire or Fire Arrows, neither of which are allowed, and the Water Trial requires Blue Fire. However, you didn't come this far for nothing. ******************************************************************************* Trick: Ganon's Castle Trials Skip Difficulty: 4/10 Explanation: In the Spirit Trial, grab the Armos Statue to your right as you enter and pull it towards you. Then, push it until it hits the wall. Push it twice in the direction of the door, then get right next to the door and jumpslash into the corner made by the Armos Statue and the wall. If done correctly, you will be pushed through the wall and into the main room, but the barrier protecting the inner tower will not be loaded. You can waltz right in. The room will be completely black, so practicing getting to the inner tower from the Spirit Trial is recommended. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SaWMLDoJ4o http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5384039011090331010 ******************************************************************************* The inner tower consists of fighting three sets of enemies. The first is a pair of Dinolfos. Then comes a pair of Stalfos, which gives you the Boss Key. The third is a pair of Iron Knuckles. ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Dinolfos Strategy: Use a Deku Nut to stun both Dinolfos, then lock onto one and use a jumpslash. After that, immediately sidehop to avoid a likely counterattack. While you are fighting one Dinolfos, watch the other-you can stun both at once most of the time, though. Once one is dead, you can use the Hookshot instead of Deku Nuts to stun the other. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Stalfos Strategy: These Stalfos do not regenerate after you kill them, so you can do so at your leisure. The flame in the center of the room can actually help you-it only does a quarter heart of damage, and it gives you temporary invincibility. Stalfos can't go through it, so you can use it as a shield. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Iron Knuckle Strategy: These Iron Knuckles are like all others-they will not attack until you attack them. So, hit one to wake it up and then kill it. Following, engage the other. ******************************************************************************* After you defeat all the enemies, replenish your supplies with the pots in the next room and head up the stairs to Ganondorf. ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Ganondorf Strategy: Get off the center platform and go to the side of the arena. When Ganondorf throws a shot at you, deflect it with an empty bottle until he fails to hit it back. Stun him with Light Arrows, then jump to the center platform and hit him until he gets back up. Go back and repeat. Note that it may take a long time to actually stun him. Ganondorf can kill you in one hit with all of his attacks except Earthquake Punch, so be extremely careful. When he charges his big multi-ball attack, hit him with a Light Arrow to stun him and prevent the attack. If you don't hit him in time, jump down to the lower area to avoid the attack. If you run out of magic, you can break the pots in the lower area to regain some. When coming back from the lower area, it's best to have the Hover Boots equipped and hover quickly to the side platforms because Ganondorf will likely use Earthquake Punch right when you get up. ******************************************************************************* When you beat Ganondorf, you'll have to escape. This is simple except for a stubborn pair of Stalfos you'll run into. ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Stalfos Strategy: These Stalfos regenerate like the ones who guarded the Bow. The fire and debris in the small arena will only complicate matters, and if you die, you'll have to fight Ganondorf again. Be very careful and don't hesitate to use some Deku Nuts-you won't be needing them after this fight. ******************************************************************************* If you are low on health, get the hearts that appear after the Stalfos battle. Complete your escape. Zelda will tell you that it's over. Ha. Haha. No. ******************************************************************************* Enemy: Ganon Strategy: Ganon will knock away your Master Sword at the beginning of the battle, but you're used to not having it by this point. All of Ganon's attacks will kill you in one hit, so keep your distance. Z Target him and hit his head with the Hookshot to momentarily stun him, then sidehop around him and shoot at his tail. He'll spin around. Repeat this process. Note that if you're too far away, you won't be able to get the right shot at his tail, but if you're too close, he'll be able to hit you with his sword. There are quite a few blocks in the arena; you should pay attention to their locations so you don't back yourself into one and get hit. Once Ganon falls down, go get the Master Sword and hit his tail. He'll get up. Repeat your attack with the Hookshot for a while-probably about five minutes. Once you think that you've done even damage to be able to kill him, fire a Light Arrow at his head and hit his tail with the Master Sword. If he continues his assault as usual, hit his tail with the Hookshot a few more times and then try again with the Light Arrow. Otherwise... Answer: No. While I wrote the Uber Challenge and this guide by myself, many of the various tricks used were found by others. See the Credits section for details. Q/C: This is really hard! A: Yeah, I know. Just keep at it and you'll do fine. Q/C: Help! A: Look at the appropriate section of the guide or watch the appropriate part of the video. If your question isn't answered, your best bet is to e-mail me at manocheese@gmail.com. Q/C: You're a cheater/This is impossible/This is not the way the developers intended the game to be played. A: Don't take the Uber Challenge, then. Q/C: I can't play the trick videos! A: Try using Internet Explorer. Q/C: Are you making an Uber Challenge for Majora's Mask or Master Quest? A: No. I don't own Master Quest and I don't plan on buying it. As for Majora's Mask, Dark_Link_Rawks made an "Ultimate Challenge" that you can find on GameFAQs. Q/C: You gave a trick a 3/10 and I thought it was hard/You gave a trick an 8/10 and I thought it was easy. A: I tried to put myself in someone else's shoes while giving the tricks their difficulty ratings. I also tried to remember how hard it was when I first did it. I can do most of the tricks on my first try, so I have to use other means to rate the difficulty. Also, some people may just have a harder time with some tricks, whereas others think that they are easy. It's all opinion-based. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* Section 8 Credits ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* I'd like to thank, first and foremost, everyone who has broken this game so badly with an enormous number of tricks.
