Online Resources Stinger ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NPC Information ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unless it is otherwise mentioned, any NPC you say "no" to (or remove later) will stay put wherever you put them. To see the X,Y coordinate of where you are, press "L". The top left of any map is (x 0 y 0). Special Abilities are those abilities that that character intrinsicly has. Some of them they have before they join you, others they gain later. Note: If you turn both Khalid and Jaheira down in the FAI, you can't ever get them to join. Pairs: (you can't have one without the other) Khalid -- Jaheira Xzar -- Montaron Minsc -- Dynaheir Eldoth -- Skie Note: To get one of these in the pair without the other, simply send the other person into a building (the person you want to get rid of), and then reform the party to kick them out. This way they can't come up to you and talk to you. Here's the party I like: You -- as a Lawful Good Fighter Kivan -- give him a Composite Long Bow +1, or the Long Bow of Marksmanship, and the Bracers of Archery; and you have a really effective sniper. Minsc -- a very good warrior Dynaheir -- a good mage, plus if you get her at the right level, she starts with Fireball. Yeslick -- a good cleric (you could also sub in Branwen or Viconia here) Safana -- you need a thief, and I like Safana. (you can also sub in Imoen here) And here are some interesting party combinations: Have Minsc, Dynaheir and Edwin in the same party. Since Edwin wants to kill Dynaheir, Minsc gets all surly and protective. Viconia and Kivan have a love-hate relationship, and also Viconia is very dimissive about Xan. Put Yeslick and Kagain together to see just how different two Dwarves can be. Yeslick DESPISES Kagain. Safana and Coran. Coran will flirt shamelessly with Safana, and she will rebuff his every attempt, quite humorously. Quayle and Tiax. These two really don't like each other. Plus they're fairly amusing on their own. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NPC List ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And now the BIG LIST of every NPC complete with a description, and where they are. This list is sorted by alignment, Good first, then Neutral, and Evil last. It is even further sorted by Lawful, Neutral, and Chaotic; that is, the Lawful Good is displayed first, in alphabetical order, then the Neutral Good, then the Chaotic Good, and so forth. _______________ GOOD ALIGNMENT: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ___ _ __ _ / _ | (_) ___ _ ___ / /_ (_) ___ / __ | / / / _ `/ / _ \/ __/ / / (_-< /_/ |_| __/ / \_,_/ /_//_/\__/ /_/ /___/ |___/ S D C I W Ch Race Class Alignment ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Ajantis 17 13 16 12 13 17 Human Paladin Lawful Good Special Abilities: Lay on Hands, Detect Evil, Protection from Evil Where he is: Farm N of Friendly Arm Inn (x 1572 y 3139) Short: Ajantis is a simple person, all he wants to do is vanquish evil. Long: Ajantis is a squire-paladin who is part of the Order of the Most Radiant Heart based in the savage north. He is a holy warrior who worships the power of Helm. Ajantis belongs to the noble family of Ilvastarr in Waterdeep, he keeps in touch with his family regularly and has deep respect for his parents. At an early age Ajantis became enamored with the idea of serving lord Helm as one of his paladins. To this end he studied hard at the church of Helm and practiced his sword skill with such luminaries as Myrmith Splendon. An exceptionally gifted individual, his hard work and perseverance eventually paid off. In a dream he was told by Helm that he was worthy to serve under him. Ajantis went to the next joust held by the Order of the Most Radiant Heart. Grade: B+ A must have for any Good-Aligned party, as he is a decent fighter with good stats, and has the Paladin abilities as well. Most useful is the Lay On Hands, which gives you another Healer (if not as useful as a Cleric, it still comes in handy in a tight spot). ___ __ _ / _ \ __ __ ___ ___ _ / / ___ (_) ____ / // / / // / / _ \/ _ `/ / _ \/ -_) / / / __/ /____/ \_, / /_//_/\_,_/ /_//_/\__/ /_/ /_/ /___/ S D C I W Ch Race Class Alignment ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Dynaheir 11 13 16 17 15 12 Human Invoker Lawful Good Special Abilities: Slow Poison Where she is: Gnollish Stronghold (x 2529 y 1440) Short: Dynaheir was kidnapped by the Gnolls, and must be rescued with Minsc in your party. She is also linked to Minsc and if one leaves, the other does too. She makes a good mage because she already knows such spells as Fireball. Long: Dynaheir is a wychalarn (witch) from the far off nation of Rasheman. The high Othlor has sent her to the Sword Coast for the purpose of investigating a prophecy. The Othlor does not find the prophecy of too great of import which is why Dynaheir, a relatively low ranking wychalarn was chosen to investigate. Dynaheir hopes that she will have an opportunity to prove herself in the eyes of the Othlor and takes her mission very seriously. She travels with Minsc, a hulking warrior who serves as her bodyguard. She finds it difficult to mix well with him ever since he lost control of his faculties in a rather bizarre accident. Dynaheir is self-assured but narrow-minded when it comes to her opinions. She has no tolerance for stupidity in her companions and has no compunctions to pointing out the shortcomings of others. This makes her a difficult woman to get along with. Grade: A- In my opinion Dynaheir is the best Mage for Good Aligned parties. Not only because she can start with Fireball (although that really helps), but also because her Slow Poison ability, which cuts down on the need for Antidotes, and frees up your Clerics to memorize other spells. She would be better if she could cast Summon Monster, though. __ __ __ _ __ \ \/ / ___ ___ / / (_) ____ / /__ \ / / -_) (_-< / / / / / __/ / '_/ /_/ \__/ /___//_/ /_/ \__/ /_/\_\ S D C I W Ch Race Class Alignment ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Yeslick 15 12 17 7 16 10 Dwarf Fighter/Cleric Lawful Good Special Abilities: Dispel Magic Where he is: Cloakwood Mines, Level 2 (x 851 y 1727) Short: You find Yeslick in the Cloakwood Mines, and all he wants to do is help. How noble. Long: Yeslick is a member of the dwarven clan Orothiar. For many centuries the clan used an iron mine in the center of Cloakwood as their home. One hundred years ago, the clan was forced out of the mines when their miners broke through a shaft into an underground stream. The water flooded the tunnels and killed a majority of the clan. Yeslick was one of the survivors. After losing his livelihood and clanmates, he made his way to Sembia where he settled down to live out the rest of his days. While working as a smithy, Yeslick's employer betrayed him and forced him to reveal the location of the flooded mines. He was then imprisoned so as not to reveal their location to others. Yeslick is a master smith, a faithful priest and a strong warrior but he has a mind as slow as a turtle with its legs amputated. Grade: B- Yeslick would be a much better companion if he had a better dexterity as it is, he is prone to getting killed. ____ / _/ __ _ ___ ___ ___ _/ / / ' \/ _ \/ -_) / _ \ /___/ /_/_/_/\___/\__/ /_//_/ S D C I W Ch Race Class Alignment ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Imoen 9 18 16 17 11 16 Human Thief Neutral Good Short: Imoen automatically will join you immediately after Gorion's death. Unless you run away, that is. Sometimes she comes with a Wand of Magic Missiles, now who did she steal that from? Long: Imoen slaps your shoulder playfully. She says that you of all people should know, seeing as how you grew up together. Indeed, some of your fondest memories are of meeting this sprightly young lass. She apparently came to Candlekeep much as you did, though 10 years later in life, and she spent much more time with the guff Winthrop than Gorion. "Puffguts" she would call him, much to the old innkeep's dismay. She seems the eternal child, and is quite content to play the part of little sister, though you are both of comparative ages. You can tell by her hearty smile that she will always be willing to travel with you, no matter what path you take. Grade: B+ One of the game's best thieves, and you start with her! A high Dexterity score and the fact that you get to choose all of her thieving abilities (nothing worse than finding a new thief, only to discover they have all stealth, and nothing else). Dual Class her to a Mage for even more fun. __ __ __ __ _ __ / //_/ / / ___ _ / / (_) ___/ / / ,< / _ \/ _ `/ / / / / / _ / /_/|_| /_//_/\_,_/ /_/ /_/ \_,_/ S D C I W Ch Race Class Alignment ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Khalid 15 16 17 12 10 9 Half-Elf Fighter Neutral Good Where he is: Friendly Arm Inn, Ground Floor (x 329 y 685) Short: See Jaheira below for a description. Long: Khalid is a half elf born and raised in the nation of Calimshan, the son of a wealthy merchant and his exotic elvish concubine. Khalid was barely acknowledged by his father as a son; his two half brothers received much more attention and were groomed as heirs to the business. Henceforth, Khalid threw himself into the martial pursuits and even convinced his father to pay a practicing sorcerer to accept him as a student. Unbeknownst to anyone Khalid's father was having troubles with his business and had in fact run up a considerable debt with a noble in Amn. The noble eventually decided to make an example of him and hired the Shadow Thieves to execute the entire family. His new love Jaheira made possible a narrow escape, and soon after, they were married. Grade: C+ Khalid is a little better than average, but there's nothing to really recommend him above anyone else. His stats are middling at best, and he has no special abilities (unless you count infravision). __ ___ _ / |/ / (_) ___ ___ ____ / /|_/ / / / / _ \ (_- < / _ `/ / _ \ /_/|_| \_,_/ /_//_/ S D C I W Ch Race Class Alignment ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Xan 13 16 7 17 14 16 Elf Enchanter Lawful Neutral Where he is: Nashkel Mines Interior (Fourth Level, Cave x 793 y 588) Short: Xan is a depressing person, but he is a capable mage (although he has the very large flaw of not being able to cast such spells as Magic Missile and Fireball!) and he has a Moonblade. If you're overly rude to him he'll leave and never return. Long: Xan wistfully speaks of his home in the elven stronghold of Evereska, and his role as a Greycloak. It was apparently decreed that he was to investigate the events of the iron shortage, determine who or what were the causes, and ascertain whether there was a greater threat to the region as a whole. This was definitely not a small task, and he accepted the responsibility with a great deal of dread. You get the feeling however, that he approaches evertyhing with a great deal of dread. He has devoted his life to improving his mastery of magic and has become a skilled wizard, though this dedication has left him little time to make friends or acquire any other pastimes. He strikes you as very capable, though probably not the best influence on morale. Grade: C- A low selection of spells kills his chances of being a Great Mage. For example, he can't cast Magic Missile or Fireball. His saving grace is his Moonblade, which is a nice feature for a Mage to have. ___ / _ ) ____ ___ _ ___ _ __ ___ ___ / _ | / __// _ `/ / _ \| |/|/ // -_) / _ \ /____/ /_/ \_,_/ /_//_/|__,__/ \__/ /_//_/ S D C I W Ch Race Class Alignment ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Branwen 13 16 15 9 16 13 Human Cleric True Neutral Special Abilities: Spiritual Hammer Where she is: Nashkel Carnival (x 3253 y 2882) Short: To get Branwen in your party all you have to do is to free her from the Petrification enchantment that was placed on her by the Mage Tranzig. Free her using a Stone to Flesh spell (you can buy them in Nashkel for 168gp or from Zeke at the Carnival for 500gp). Long: Branwen reveals that she left her home of Seawolf in the Northeim Isles at an early age. She was apparently reviled by her own people for wanting to become a priest, a station 7reserved exclusively for the men of the village. She harbors no resentment, realizing that her faith must face such tests or be worthless. She traveled the coast, offering her services to local militias, and eventually came into the employ of an adventuring troup in the Nashkel area. Branwen had no idea that the group was participating in banditry however, and on their first raid she balked at attacking a caravan of unarmed merchants. She rebelled, and a mage named Tranzig turned her to stone in the ensuing fight. Despite the unfavorable outcome, Branwen feels that Tempus views her actions approvingly. To attack those that are unarmed is the basest of villainy. Grade: B Branwen is a little better than average. Her special ability is rather useless 95% of the time, however, and her stats aren't anything impressive. ____ __ __ / __/ ___ _ / / ___/ / ___ ____ ___ / _/ / _ `/ / / / _ / / _ \ / __/ / _ \ /_/ \_,_/ /_/ \_,_/ \___//_/ /_//_/ S D C I W Ch Race Class Alignment ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Faldorn 12 15 11 10 16 15 Human Druid True Neutral Special Abilities: Summon Dread Wolf Where she is: Cloakwood 3, In the Druid Shrine (x 639 y 2885) Short: Faldorn wants to free the forest from the evils of the Iron Throne, which has taken up residence in the Cloakwood Mine. Long: Faldorn states that she was the child of a Black Raven Uthgardt woman. As an infant she was given over to an enclave of Shadow Druids as an offering, and was thereafter raised according to their beliefs. A splinter group of the main druidic order, Shadow Druids engage in very aggressive protection of nature, often relying on violence to achieve their aims. Faldorn showed great promise as she approached adulthood, and the order decided to send her to the Sword Coast to test her devotion to their ideals. Her ongoing mission is to use any means available to stop the despoiling of nature, no matter the risk or the cost to her life or any other. Grade: D+ I've never been a great fan of Druids, and Faldorn has done nothing to change my attitude (unless you like to summon dread wolves). her stats aren't impressive, and she has a limited choice of spells and weapons. However, if you say "No" to them the first time they want to join, you won't be able to get them. Ever. Long: Jaheira was born in the Tethyr region to one of the Nobles who were loyal to the King Alemander the 4th regime. Her first year was during the Tethyrian civil war that ripped the country apart and resulted in the deaths of most of the royalty and nobility. Her family was one of noble lineage that was targeted by the angry mobs of peasants. One of the servant girls took Jaheira from the castle before it fell. She fled into the forest of Tethyr and stumbled across an enclave of Druids. They took the child in to raise as their own and cared for the serving girl briefly before sending her away. Jaheira grew up a very headstrong girl; she was very militant in her beliefs that the only way to protect nature was to have an active role in the world. She became enamored with Khalid while helping to protect him from assassination by Shadow Thieves. Grade: C- Jaheira has bad stats, and is half-druid. Go inside the estate and you will find Skie. She will only join you if Eldoth is with you, otherwise she thinks that you are thieves come to kill her. Long: Skie bubbles that she is the daughter of Entar Silvershield, one of the Grand Dukes of Baldur's Gate. Her admittedly sheltered life has consisted mostly of learning ballet, history, and languages. Being exceptionally agile she has become a very proficient dancer, though this natural dexterity has mainly allowed her to better sneak off on sojourns away from the estate. She says she finds the nastier areas of Baldur's Gate exciting, though she seems naïve about the dangers. On one of her escapades she met up with the debonair Eldoth, and thinks that he can help her live the life of adventure that she craves. She trusts him implicitly, perhaps too much so. Grade: D+ Skie wouldn't be so bad except you get her so late in the game, which is killer for thieves. Plus her stats are lower than most the other Thieves in the game. _____ _ __ / ___/ ___ _ ____ ____ (_) ____ / /__ / (_ / / _ `/ / __/ / __/ / / / __/ / '_/ \___/ \_,_/ /_/ /_/ /_/ \__/ /_/\_\ S D C I W Ch Race Class Alignment ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Garrick 14 16 9 13 14 15 Human Bard Chaotic Neutral Where he is: Beregost, by the Burning Wizard Inn (x 2564 y 2284) Short: Garrick will join you only after you finish the Silke subquest in Beregost. Long: Garrick explains that he was part of a celebrated acting troupe called the Dale Wind Troubadours. They traveled the length of the coast from Neverwint to Amn and often played to Dukes and other nobility. Indeed, few others could afford the cost of a performance when the group was at its peak. Garrick does not speak fondly of this time however, as the direction the group was taking left him dissatisfied with their conduct. He apparently discovered that performances were being used as distractions for theivery and declared he would have nothing to do with it. Rebuffed by his comrades, now he wishes simply to travel and play his music for those that will listen. He seems a bit young and naive, and a touch too ready to take the word of a stranger. Grade: D The only thing good about Bards is their Lore rating, and that isn't, in my opinion, enough reason to keep them around. ____ __ / __ \ __ __ ___ _ __ __ / / ___ / /_/ // // // _ `/ / // / / / / -_) \___\_\\_,_/ \_,_/ \_, / /_/ \__/ /___/ S D C I W Ch Race Class Alignment ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Quayle 8 15 11 17 10 6 Gnome Cleric/Illusionist Chaotic Neutral Special Abilities: Invisibility Where he is: Baldur's Gate Bridge (x 486 y 797) Short: Quayle is an insulting little person, who will join up for no apparant reason. No matter which direction you say that you are going, he is going that way too. Can't get him until the Cloakwood mines are clear. Long: Quayle talks for a good hour about his worship of Baravar Cloakshadow, how he is well on his way to mastering sorcery, and just generally how incredibly smart he is compared to everyone else in the party. He was apparently encouraged to strike out on his own as soon as he came of age because, as he claims, he was simply too gifted to remain in that stifling environment. You get the feeling, however, that no one was terribly broken up over his leaving. He says that he apprenticed in the arts of magic and the worship of Baravar under a gnome named Gifos, though it was not long before this teacher also sent him on his way. Since then, Quayle has wandered the Sword Coast looking for people who were willing to accept his "his wisdom and instruction." It has likely been a long walk. Grade: D- A Cleric with 10 wisdom is really bad. Add to that a pathetic str rating, and a none-too good constitution and you've got a bad NPC. Long: Safana has always used her charms and beauty to persuade men to her way of thinking. This of course makes her an excellent thief, able to pull off amazing heists that most of her male counterparts would find difficult if not impossible. Safana grew up in the city of Calimport in Calimshan. There she grew up surrounded by luxury, her father being a very influential noble. Though she could have had anything, Safana soon found herself too confined by her fathers' protective arm. She ran away in her early teens with the help of the first mate of the pirate ship 'Exzesus'. She remained with the pirate crew for several years being able to play them off against each other so that she would get what she wanted. Eventually she tried to manipulate the captain and found her self in a great deal of trouble. Grade: C A perfectly average thief. Get her if you like the things she says, otherwise skip her. If you refuse him with Dynaheir in your party he leaves forever. Long: When asked about his past, Edwin sneers that he has no intention of revealing such information and that it is none of your business. He further states that you are lucky enough to simply share his company, and then mutters something about leaving whenever he wishes. He obviously cares little for the camaraderie of others, and seems to take more pleasure in speaking to himself than in interacting with the party. His attire brazenly displays the colors of the Red Wizards of Thay, though why a member of that organization would come so far west is puzzling. Edwin does not seem forthcoming with any information. Grade: A- If you have an Evil party, Edwin should be your mage. Even if you have a Good party, you may want him (just don't take that Reputation above 18...). Why? Extra 1st and 2nd level spells! It is apparent that he runs a rather shady mercenary company and that he is quite obsessed with wealth, but any information beyond this his is content to keep to himself. He is required to even talk to Skie without her running from you in fear. Long: Eldoth Kron is a highly skilled poet and singer as well as a schemer and manipulator. Originally from the island kingdom of Ruathym, he left at an early age to the city of Waterdeep. The natural affinity to song and poetry that he exhibited in his homeland was honed to perfection while at the big city. He trained at the musical college of New Olamn using money that he borrowed over time from his many lovers. Eldoth became quite good at using women for his pleasure and monetary needs and then discarding them in favor of the next thrill. His skill with music was mirrored by his increasing talent in the manipulation of others emotions. Eventually his overconfidence became his undoing; he decided to try and win Aleena Palidinstar's heart. Aleena is the youthful daughter of Piergeiron, lord of the city of Waterdeep. When Piergeiron discovered that a manipulative dilettante was using his daughter he became quite furious. Eldoth fled the city and hit the road, deciding it was time to use his bardic skills elsewhere. His current companion is a young woman named Skie. For now, he is genuinely attracted to her, but that will probably not last for long. Grade: C- Just slightly below average as a character. Long: When asked about his past, Montaron openly threatens you with bodily harm. He seems quite dangerous, and more than willing to engage in gratuitous violence. It would appear that he cares little for life, including his own. He works grudgingly with Xzar, even though he obviously despises the man. Whoever their employers are, they must be powerful indeed. These two would likely kill each other without a presence over their heads preventing it. Montaron might be willing to discuss the whole matter with you, but you get the feeling that you probably would not wake up the next morning. Grade: C+ Not a bad character as far as Fighter/Thieves go, but not terribly good either. But not as good as the plain thieves. _ __ _ _ | | / / (_) ____ ___ ___ (_) ___ _ | |/ / / / / __// _ \ / _ \ / / / _ `/ |___/ /_/ \__/ \___//_//_//_/ \_,_/ S D C I W Ch Race Class Alignment ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Viconia 10 19 8 16 15 14 Drow Elf Cleric Neutral Evil Special Abilities: 50% Magic Resistance Where she is: Peldvale (x 447 y 731) Short: When you first encounter Viconia she asks you to help her with a small matter of the Flaming Fist trying to kill her. Help her out and she offers to join. However, if you turn Viconia down when she asks to join, she vanishes forever. Once she joins your reputation goes down 2. Long: Viconia reveals (quite proudly) that she is a Dark Elf from the Underdark city of Menzoberranzan. She says very little about her reasons for leaving that sunless realm, though separations of such nature are never gentle. She does claim to no longer worship the spider goddess Lloth: a change that even you know is often fatal. Her new faith is in the night goddess Shar, an appropriate choice for a drow, though this is not a firm indication that she has given up the brutal ways of her people. She finds the laws of the surface world quaint and more than a little strange, but this is simply because of her lack of experience. Likewise she seems a bit naive about how her race is viewed by surface dwellers. Many will not give her the chance she seems to expect, and even being seen with her may affect how people think of you. You know that as a drow, she has resistance to magic, both beneficial and harmful. Grade: A- My personal favorite Cleric. 50% magic resistance. Very very nice. Even the fact that some of your Healing spells will fail on her doesn't hurt that much. Plus a great Dexterity, and decent Wisdom makes for a good cleric. Her weak spots are her very low constitution (use the Manual Of Bodily Health on her when you get it) and her low strength (which can be fixed by Gauntlets of Ogre Power). ____ __ ______ __ / __/ / / ___ _ ____ ____ /_ __/ ___ ___ / / _\ \ / _ \/ _ `/ / __/ /___/ / / / -_)/ -_) / / /___/ /_//_/\_,_/ /_/ /_/ \__/ \__/ /_/ Str D C I W Ch Race Class Alignment ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Shar-Teel 18/58 17 9 14 7 11 Human Fighter Chaotic Evil Where she is: Area E of Temple (x 273 y 303) Short: When you first meet up with Shar-Teel she challenges your "Best Male Fighter" (this seems to be randomly chosen) to a duel. If you don't have a Male in your party, you can't get her. If you turn her down, she leaves forever. Long: When asked about her past, Shar Teel has very little to say. From the little she speaks of it can be gleaned that she is an orphan. She also seems to harbor an instense dislike for Flaming Fist mercenaries, as well as, an obvious disrespect for men in general. She seems to have something to prove and likely her childhood was not of storybook quality. Grade: B A better than average fighter, if nothing to sing about. Her biggest weakness is the low constituion, but that is somewhat offset by the very high strength. Plus she's evil, which means that you can't go above 18 reputation. ______ _ /_ __/ (_) ___ _ __ __ / / / / / _ `/ \ \ / /_/ /_/ \_,_/ /_\_\ S D C I W Ch Race Class Alignment ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Tiax 9 16 16 10 12 9 Gnome Cleric/Thief Chaotic Evil Special Abilities: Summon Ghast Where he is: Baldur's Gate SW Section (AR 1100, x 1440 y 1610) Short: Tiax is a very bizarre fellow who believes that he will one day "ascend" to become the ruler of the Realms. He thinks that that is his "destiny" as foretold to him by Cyric. Long: When asked about his past, Tiax ignores you entirely, preferring instead to loudly proclaim what is in store for his future. He obviously worships Cyric, but also seems to share a touch of his madness. Tiax unquestioningly believes that he is destined to rule the world, and his fervor makes him blind to the ridiculous nature of the goal. He seems harmless enough for now. Grade: D Low Wisdom makes him bad as a Cleric, and a relatively low Dexterity makes him bad as a thief. Nothing to really recommend here, plus his speeches get old quick. "Tiax will rule!" Summoning a Ghast is fairly useful, especially against things like Basilisks, but still not enough to make Tiax a good party member. _ __ | |/_/ ___ ___ _ ____ _> < /_ // _ `/ / __/ /_/|_| /__/\_,_/ /_/ S D C I W Ch Race Class Alignment ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Xzar 14 16 10 17 16 10 Human Necromancer Chaotic Evil Where he is: Crossroads (E of Candlekeep) (x 4577 y 2693) Short: Xzar and Montaron will join you on the crossroads right out of Candlekeep, and they want to go investigate the Nashkel mines (who doesn't). Long: When asked about his past Xzar has very few coherent things to say. His desire to determine the cause of the iron shortage seems benevolent enough, but his motives remain unclear. His ramblings seem disjointed, but his faculties are obviously in good enough order for him to be adept at magic. He mutters something about how he and his associate Montaron are in the employ of a powerful group, but when pressed for details he gets extremely agitated and does not speak for some time. He is obviously at least partially insane, and the network that would hire him must be dark indeed. Grade: D Necromancers just don't do it for me. Plus Edwin is much better as an evil mage. =============================================================================== Final Words... =============================================================================== _________________ Online Resources: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ http://www.bioware.com/ -- the Official Page (sort of) http://www.bgchronicles.com/ http://www.bgrealms.com/ http://www.bgrealms.com/teambg/ -- has a lot of good editors, also has a portraits section http://www.tgeweb.com/gaming/baldur/baldursgate.htm http://www.gamefaqs.com/ -- the best FAQs site on the net! http://www.cheatcc.com/ -- a great place for all your cheating needs ASCII Art created using SigZag by James Dill: (freeware!) http://www.geocities.com/southbeach/marina/4942/sigzag.htm This FAQ was writen entirely using the GWD Text Editor: (shareware) http://www.gwdsoft.com/ _________________________ Shameless Self Promotion: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ I am Dan Simpson (dsimpson.faqs@gmail.com) and have also written FAQs for: NES: Disney Adventures in the Magic Kingdom Final Fantasy -- Magic FAQ The Legend of Zelda SNES: Aerobiz Aerobiz Supersonic Utopia: Creation of a Nation Genesis: StarFlight PSX: Thousand Arms -- Walkthrough -- Forging/Dating FAQ PS2: Madden NFL 2001 XBOX: Star Wars: KotOR II: The Sith Lords -- FAQ/Walkthrough -- Influence Guide PC: AD&D Rules FAQ, 2nd and 3rd Editions Baldur's Gate & Tales of the Sword Coast -- FAQ/Walkthrough NPC List Creature List Baldur's Gate II & Throne of Bhaal -- FAQ/Walkthrough -- Items List -- Class FAQ -- Creature List Civilization III (incomplete) Colonization -- the Single Colony Strategy Guide -- the Cheat Guide Drakan: Order of the Flame Dungeon Hack Icewind Dale & Heart of Winter -- FAQ/Walkthrough Items List Kresselack's Tomb Map (JPG) Burial Isle Map (JPG) Shattered Hand Map (JPG) Icewind Dale II -- Items List Master of Magic (revision) Messiah Pharaoh (currently being edited by Red Phoenix) Planescape: Torment -- FAQ/Walkthrough Items Listing Rollercoaster Tycoon Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri The Sims Ultima 4: Quest of the Avatar Ultima 7: The Black Gate Ultima 7 Part 2: Serpent Isle Ultima Underworld -- Keyboard Commands Ultima Underworld II -- Keyboard Commands -- Spell List All of my FAQs can be found at: http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/2203.html ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ________________ Version History: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Original Version (10-10-99, 37k) Changes in Version 1.1 (10-11-99, 46k) Added ASCII arts for every NPC Divided the FAQ into 3 sections Added Table of Contents Added the What's New up top Small Changes Changes in Version 1.2 (10-12-99, 52k) Got the rest of the NPC information on Skie and Alora Graded all the NPC's Small Changes Changes in Version 1.21 (2-28-00, 54k) Small Changes Small Format Changes Changes in Version 1.22 (4-26-00, 55k) Small Changes Small Format Changes Changes in Version 1.23 (5-29-00, 56k) Changed the grade that I gave Coran (from a B+ to an A-) Other Small Changes Version 1.24 January 17, 2005 55k Changed the email address and updated the format. ________ Stinger: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ "Night would DARE hamper the sight of Tiax?" _______________________________________________________________________________ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ This Document is Copyright 1999-2005 by Dan Simpson Baldur's Gate is Copyright 1998-99 by Bioware I am not affiliated with Bioware, Interplay, or anyone who had anything to do with the creation of this game.
