About the guide [1.3] ************************** To navigate the guide you can use Ctrl+F to search for the section you require (using the square brackets around the section number) or search by keyword. ******************************************************************************* 2. Main Menu [2] ******************************************************************************* The main menu as you enter the game has seven options. These are: 1. Continue Game 2. New Game 3. Load Game 4. Save Game 5. Settings 6. Credits 7. Quit 1. Continue Game: Click this button to continue your game. 2. New Game: This is the option you will choose upon first starting the game. There are three difficulty levels: Easy - The easy difficulty is great for beginners, the crime rate is lower and suspects can be apprehended quickly, plus the running costs for personnel, vehicles and police stations are reduced. If you are playing Police Simulator 2 for the first time we recommend playing the easy level first. Medium - When playing the medium difficulty level, the crime rate is higher and the perpetrators are more skilled, but the responding units are still able to arrest them at the scene of the crime. Hard - With the hard level, the city needs your immediate action in order to successfully counter everyday crime. The criminals are far more dangerous and better equipped plus the operating costs for buildings, vehicles and personnel are significantly higher. Caution: this level is only for professionals. 3. Load game: Click this button to load your game. 4. Save Game: This is where you save your game. You have 8 slots to choose from. 5. Settings: There are three things you can adjust here. You can toggle whether the game is full screen or not. You can set the music volume from 0% to 100%. You can set the sound volume from 0% to 100%. 6. Credits: Here you can see who made the game. 7. Quit: Here you can exit the game. ******************************************************************************* 3. Screen Layout [3] ******************************************************************************* There are a number of buttons on the screen going across the top and also going down the side. It is recommended you familiarise yourself with these before starting the game. *************************************** 3.1. Icons/buttons across the top [3.1] *************************************** The buttons/icons across the top from left to right: The 4 in the top right corner show the day you are on (starting from day 1), the time (as a 24-hour clock although moving quicker than real-time obviously), the amount of Euros you have and the level of public safety you are at (out of 100%) plus any mission trackers dependent on which mission you are on (e.g. x hours completed from 48). Then you have a button to toggle whether you see your surveillance cameras or not, whether you see your speed traps or not, whether you highlight your units or not, whether to show your levels of public safety or not (green = good level of public safety, yellow = medium, red = low) and whether you see the buildings or make them transparent. Then the next set of buttons allow you to set the game speed (2 options - normal and fast), a pause button, a zoom in and a zoom out button. Note: When zoomed out to the maximum you can't see many of the features in the game you need to see so don't zoom out so much. To navigate the map just right-click (not left-click) the mouse and drag. Also when a crime is committed a new red button appears across the top which you can click on to take you to the scene of the crime. You can then click on that scene and select the responding teams you want to send there, the nearest to the scene being at the top. ************************************** 3.2. Icons/buttons down the side [3.2] ************************************** There are 10 buttons down the side: 3.2.1. Main Menu 3.2.2. Police Stations 3.2.3. Purchase Vehicles/Hire Staff 3.2.4. Cases 3.2.5. Surveillance Cameras 3.2.6. Radar Speed Traps 3.2.7. CSI Laboratory 3.2.8. Statistics 3.2.9. Mission List and Objectives 3.2.10. Tutorial Videos ************************ 3.2.1. Main Menu [3.2.1] ************************ Clicking on this button (surprise, surprise) takes you to the main menu. (Then make sure to save your game as it will only autosave after each mission is completed rather than at the point you exit the game. ****************************** 3.2.2. Police Stations [3.2.2] ****************************** The second button down the side is Police Stations. Here is the listing of police stations you have. For each one in the top right is all the info on it. The data tells you the number of policemen you have by type (patrolmen, CSIs, detectives, riot control officers, S.W.A.T. team members and undercover agents), the daily costs, the number of vehicles and helicopters you have and also the maximum number you can have at each. Then on the left you have three things you can view: List of policemen, list of vehicles, list of action teams. List of policemen: Here are all your policemen and all their info. For each policeman you can see their status (in action or at station), their action team, their salary per day, their current rank, their experience points and their skill level. List of police vehicles: Here are all your police vehicles and all their info. For each police vehicle you can see their status (in action or at station or being serviced), their action team, their daily costs, number of seats, maximum speed and condition. There is also a repair button here and a sell vehicle button too. List of action teams: Here you create action teams and also set action teams duties. To create an action team click on the create action team button. You can assign available personnel to a team with the arrows. A foot patrol consists of one or two officers, while the number of policemen assigned to a vehicle patrol is limited by the number of people the selected police car can accommodate. Only members of S.W.A.T. can get into S.W.A.T. transport vehicles, while in the case of a riot control vehicle, only riot officers can be assigned. Then to set the available action teams on a duty click on them. The three options that come up are: to edit team members, set duty or disable duty. There are two types of duty: Patrol Duty: You have to define the waypoint of the patrol route. The presence of the patrolling officers improves the public safety of the area they are going through. Changing the type of an existing duty causes the duty personnel to return to the station. ID Checking: To carry out this duty, you have to define a location where the assigned personnel will check the identity of pedestrians. This is an effective crime prevention method, because would-be offenders can be spotted and arrested on their way to the crime scene. Changing the type of an existing duty causes the duty personnel to return to the station. Once you've done this you then set the daily time of the duty. The duration can be set in two-hour intervals. When a duty task concludes, the assigned officers automatically return to the police station. ******************************************* 3.2.3. Purchase Vehicles/Hire Staff [3.2.3] ******************************************* The third button down the side is Purchase Vehicles/Hire Staff. On the right are your police stations and on the left are the things you can purchase for them. There are three options: purchase new police stations, recruit personnel or purchase police vehicles. Purchase new police stations: Police stations #2 to #9 are available for purchase. Here are their details: Police Station #2, cost 17,000 Euros, daily cost 720. Police Station #3, cost 73,000 Euros, daily cost 2,920. Police Station #4, cost 18,000 Euros, daily cost 720. Police Station #5, cost 35,000 Euros, daily cost 1,400. They are split into the nine types of crime (robbery, stabbing, homicide, burglary, smuggling, drug abuse, motor vehicle theft, terrorism and riot). *********************************** 3.2.5. Surveillance Cameras [3.2.5] *********************************** The fifth button down the side is Surveillance Cameras. Costs 9,000 Euros. - Upgrading the ballistic analyser means more precise identification of a firearm used by a suspect, thus making the investigation more efficient. Costs 12,000 Euros. ************************* 3.2.8. Statistics [3.2.8] ************************* The eighth button down the side is Statistics. There are three categories of statistics you can see. These are your daily financial statistics, your criminal statistics and your vehicle and personnel information. Daily financial statistics: These show your income and expenses. Sending out an Undercover Agent: Select an undercover agent from the personnel list of the desired police station. A button appears on the right side of the window. By clicking on this button, a location can be marked on the map where the agent will be sent out. The size of the area the agent can observe is also displayed while selecting the location. If the agent spots a suspect, then they report it. The suspect is marked on the map and units can be dispatched to arrest him. Capturing suspects, before they can commit a crime, counts as crime prevention. ******************************************************************************* 4. Mission walkthrough [4] ******************************************************************************* There are 30 missions. Walkthroughs for each of these missions are below. Should you fail a mission you will be prompted to attempt it again. You only do one mission at a time. The next mission will unlock following successful completion of the previous one. ******************** 4.1. Mission 1 [4.1] ******************** Mission briefing: Congratulations on your new role and good luck in the job! Mission objective: Recruit two patrolmen, two detectives and two crime scene investigators. Mission reward: 5,000 Euros Mission walkthrough: Click on the Purchase Vehicles/Hire Staff button (section 3.2.3. above). Then hire two of patrolmen, two detectives and two CSIs. Upon completion you get this message: Nice work! You have successfully hired the new personnel. City officials will now provide your department with 5,000 Euros extra funding. ******************** 4.2. Mission 2 [4.2] ******************** Mission briefing: In order to perform their assigned duties, officers have to be organised into teams. Mission objective: Create a team. Assign them to ID check duty and get the team to check the identity of three pedestrians. Mission reward: You will be allowed to purchase a patrol car. Mission walkthrough: Click on the Police Stations button (section 3.2.2. above). At this stage of the game you only have one - Police Station #1. Select that police station. Then select list of actions teams. Here there is an option to create a team. Click that and take your two patrolmen (or more) across and make a team. Now select the team and set their duty to patrol duty, define their waypoints (if you can't see this then zoom in a bit). Good waypoints are at the pedestrian crossings at crossroads because lots of people pass there. Then once three IDs have been checked the mission is complete. Upon completion you get this message: Nice work! You have successfully completed an ID checking duty. You are now allowed to purchase a patrol car. ******************** 4.3. Mission 3 [4.3] ******************** Mission briefing: In order to send out a patrol car you need to form a team of police officers. Mission objective: Recruit at least one more patrolman, purchase a patrol car, create a team and send it out. Mission reward: 4,000 Euros. Mission walkthrough: Click on the Purchase Vehicles/Hire Staff button (section 3.2.3. above). Buy a Saber patrol car (the only vehicle available to you at this stage). Hire some more patrolmen too (at least one but a good idea to get a couple more teams out ready to go on patrols). Now click on the Police Stations button and choose your police station and assign a new team which includes the patrol car. Upon completion you get this message: Nice work! You have successfully created a patrol duty. City officials will now provide you an extra 4,000 Euros funding. ******************** 4.4. Mission 4 [4.4] ******************** Mission briefing: Crime prevention is an effective method of crime fighting. Crime prevention is greatly helped by surveillance cameras. Mission objective: Purchase and install a surveillance camera. Mission reward: 1,000 Euros. Mission walkthrough: Click on the Surveillance Cameras button (section 3.2.5. above). Buy a camera then choose a location, preferably away from the police station. If you can't see where you are placing it then you may be zoomed out too far. Upon completion you get this message: Nice work! You have successfully installed a surveillance camera. City officials will now provide you an extra 1,000 Euros. ******************** 4.5. Mission 5 [4.5] ******************** Mission briefing: You can deploy radar speed traps along the roads. These can automatically detect speeding drivers. The fines collected are received by the police department. Mission objective: Purchase and deploy a radar speed trap. Mission reward: 5,000 Euros. Mission walkthrough: Click on the Radar Speed Traps button (section 3.2.6. above). Buy a trap then choose a location. If you can't see where you are placing it then you may be zoomed out too far. Upon completion you get this message: Nice work! You have successfully installed a surveillance camera. City officials will now provide you an extra 5,000 Euros. ******************** 4.6. Mission 6 [4.6] ******************** Mission briefing: It is time to catch criminals! Mission objective: Dispatch units to three crime scenes and arrest three suspects or send out patrols to check pedestrians in order to catch suspects on their way to commit crime. Mission reward: You will be allowed to purchase another type of patrol car. Mission walkthrough: Send out your teams on patrols (have at least three at this stage). When a crime is perpetrated then a red icon appears at the top of the screen. At this point pause the game, and click on it. This takes you to the scene of the crime. Now click on that and send in your available units. The ones at the top are the nearest to the crime scene. Send them all in because at this stage each crime is carried out at a time when no other crimes are happening. Also note when clicking on the crime scene it shows the skill level of the suspect. If it is higher than the total level of responding police units then your policemen may get hurt and be hospitalised for a while, hence why sending in all units is a good idea. Upon completion you get this message: Good job! You have successfully arrested the offenders. You now can purchase a patrol car of your choice. ******************** 4.7. Mission 7 [4.7] ******************** Mission briefing: It is time to improve the level of public safety. Mission objective: The level of public safety in 7 of the districts under your jurisdiction should not fall under 30% in 48 hours. Mission reward: Another district in the eastern part of the city will be available and you will receive 40,000 Euros. Mission walkthrough: This is the first mission where the game starts to get going. Your public safety percentage is at the top of the screen along with the number of hours you have completed out of 48. There is also the public safety button. Click this and it shows levels of public safety across the map. The areas you need to patrol more urgently are the red and yellow areas. Also be ready for multiple crimes to happen (during the nights mainly). Up to three will occur at the same time so be careful about sending all your teams to crimes otherwise they'll be occupied and won't be able to attend the next crime. Carefully manage them based on how near crimes are to each other. Also look out for your police cars as they will eventually show spanner icons above them. This means they are 10% of their original condition and so run much slower so they need to be repaired (or you can repair them before they reach 10% condition). To repair them click on your police station button and onto the police car in question and click on the button to repair it. This will however mean that you can't use that car until it is repaired. Should you dip below 30% then get all your officers out on patrol at once and manage their time so that they remain out on patrol (particularly your vehicles who improve the public safety levels quicker). You could also buy some more police stations, vehicles and patrolmen if you wanted so that you cover a wider area. At the end of the 48 hours if your public safety is 30% or more you will pass the mission. Upon completion you get this message: Great work! You have managed to keep the level of public safety above 30%. Another part of the city will now be under your jurisdiction. City officials will provide you with 40,000 Euros additional funding. ******************** 4.8. Mission 8 [4.8] ******************** Mission briefing: Upgrading the fingerprint analyzer results in improved suspect identification making the investigation process more effective. Mission objective: Upgrade the fingerprint analysing device in the CSI laboratory. Mission reward: You will be allowed to purchase an interceptor vehicle. Mission walkthrough: Click on the CSI Laboratory button and choose to upgrade the fingerprint analyser. Upon completion you get this message: Good work! You have successfully upgraded the fingerprint analyser. You are now allowed to purchase an interceptor vehicle. ******************** 4.9. Mission 9 [4.9] ******************** Mission briefing: There is a criminal on the run in the eastern district. He was last seen at the location indicated on the map. Send out ID checking teams to different parts of the marked area in order to locate and apprehend the criminal. Mission objective: Arrest the escaping criminal. Mission reward: A new undercover agent will arrive at the police department. Mission walkthrough: Over in the Eastern part of the map is a grey circle. This is the area you need to send your ID checkers too. It is a little away from your initial police station so you could drive your patrolmen there and ID check pedestrians that way or you could buy another police station that is nearer (police stations #2 and #3 are near). Soon you'll have arrested the guy you were looking for. Upon completion you get this message: Nice work! You have successfully arrested the wanted criminal. We are going to assign you two undercover police officers who can provide you with information on possible suspects. *********************** 4.10. Mission 10 [4.10] *********************** Mission briefing: We have received a tip about a potential smuggling ring at the location indicated on the map. Send out an undercover agent to the marked area in order to gather more information on the crime and the possible suspects. Mission objective: Send out at least one undercover agent to the marked area and arrest the suspect with a dispatching unit. Mission reward: You will be allowed to purchase a police transport vehicle. Mission walkthrough: Send your undercover agents into the area specified. Space them out so they cover a wider area (the area they cover is shown by the grid when you deploy them). Once one of them sees the suspect you'll be notified. Pause the game, click on the suspect who is highlighted then send in the units to arrest him. If he disappears into a building before you got your units there then you'll have to wait for the next time he is spotted. Upon completion you get this message: Clever work! You have successfully completed an undercover assignment. You are now allowed to purchase a transport vehicle. *********************** 4.11. Mission 11 [4.11] *********************** Mission briefing: It is time to improve the level of public safety again. Mission objective: The level of the public safety in the districts under your jurisdiction should not fall under 40% in 48 hours. Mission reward: You will be allowed to purchase a patrol helicopter. Mission walkthrough: This is similar to mission 7. Follow those instructions remembering that should you dip below 40% get all your patrols out and about and keep them out and about. Upon completion you get this message: Excellent work! You have managed to keep the level of public safety above 40%. You are now allowed to purchase a patrol helicopter, which is able to spot possible suspects from the air. *********************** 4.12. Mission 12 [4.12] *********************** Mission briefing: We have information on the smuggling of valuable goods. Send out an undercover agent and dispatch a larger police task force to the scene. Mission objective: Send out an undercover agent to the marked area in order to gather more information on the crime and the possible suspects. Arrest the smuggler. Mission reward: 50,000 Euros. Mission walkthrough: This is similar to mission 10. You could purchase Police Station #5, which is on the edge of the site so that you can quickly get patrol units to arrest the suspect when he appears. Upon completion you get this message: Good job! You have successfully apprehended the smugglers. City officials will provide you with 50,000 Euros extra funding. *********************** 4.13. Mission 13 [4.13] *********************** Mission briefing: It is time to improve the level of public safety again. Upon completion you get this message: Nice work! You have managed to keep the level of public safety above 50%. You are now allowed to purchase a riot control vehicle. We are going to assign you a riot control unit. *********************** 4.14. Mission 14 [4.14] *********************** Mission briefing: We have information on a possible bank robbery. The likely location is indicated on the map. Mission objective: Prevent the robbery or arrest the robber at the scene. Mission reward: 50,000 Euros. Mission walkthrough: Set up ID checking patrols around the circled area. If you don't prevent the robbery then arrest the criminal as soon as the crime scene pops up. Upon completion you get this message: Good work! You have successfully apprehended the robber. City officials will provide you with an extra 50,000 Euros. *********************** 4.15. Mission 15 [4.15] *********************** Mission briefing: A high-ranking foreign diplomat has arrived in the city. We have information on a possible assassination attempt.
