To help this, I have added an FAQ section. But please, think about what you are going to send before you IM me. I am very tempted to take my IM handles off of the contact section, and I don't want to do this as helping people over IM is much eassier and more efficient then helping people over email. Please think over your question, and read through the guide before conacting me. Thank you. UPDATE: Please do not ask me the following questions: ===================================================== 1. Private server related questions 2. Botting related questions 3. Questions about a class other then Archer/Hunter 4. General Ragnarok questions 5. Ask me to tank you / give you items 6. Leveling questions, It's covered in the guide 7. Questions already answered in the guide (please search) Finally, PLEASE be polite when asking for help. I have gotten a huge amount of questions phrased like, "plz tell where I can lvl my hoontar???". If your question is phrased as such, I will not be very keen on helping you. A better way to phrase that would be, "Hey, I read your guide and was wondering if you could give me some leveling tips?". I would be very helpful in that situation :). Also, again, please make sure your question is not already answered in the guide. This includes most stat build and leveling questions. If you want me to rate your build, all I will do is take the inf- ormation given in this guide and use it to rate your build. You can easily do the same. However, if you need help creating a custom build by all means IM or email me. Keep in mind I don't need you to go, "Excuse me sir, I was reading through your well written FAQ and was curious as to if I could borrow a bit of your time, that is if you are not busy at the moment". This is a direct quote btw. I'm not asking you to talk to me like I'm the President. I'm just asking you not to go, "PLZ GIV MY CHARA ZANNY PLZ PLZ PLZZZZZZZZZZ????????" If it were up to me, "plz", "pls", "plzzzzzzz" "plssssssssss" etc would all be banned in every word filter on the internet. But unfortunately, it's not up to me, so please at least avoid saying "plz" when talking to me, especially with multiple z's or s's. Some other notes: -Thanks is thanks, not thx -Please is please, not plz, pls, pwease, or plx -"th" is not meant to be replaced with "da" -Hunter is Hunter, not Hoontar -Words were not meant to be represented by numbers -You are not a "leet haxor", do not use "1337 5p34k" -Please un-glue your caps lock key -I am not at my computer 24/7, and do have a life. This life may not involve helping you at the time of your message. -Exclamation points and question marks do not need to be used more then once -Punctuation should be not in place of other punctuation (ie, WHERE 2 LVL!!) -I am not God, I do not know every little fact about RO. If I don't know the answer to your question, please hold back all "OMG LOLLOLOLLL NEWB!!1" msgs. -My purpose in life is not to tank you, give you "ITAMS", give you "ZANNY", or to give you anything. Thus do not ask me to tank you or give you zenny -I am not Gravity, I cannot do anything about the guy who scammed you -I am not interested in any private sewrvers. I don't care what the exp and or drop rates are. Having a +10 ARMOR OF IMPENDING DOOM isn't fun if there are only 10 people on the server at once =========================================================== | REMEMBER: | =========================================================== | Every time someone sends me a stupid email, a Yoyo dies | | Please, think of the Yoyos. | =========================================================== CHAOS ===== Forever-Hunter Forever-Zero ------------ Chances are if you IM me in-game, I am busy. If I don't respond at first or tell you I am busy, please don't annoy me by repeating your question 5 times Also, I am always more then happy to party with people around my level (94). So, if you want to party some place try whispering me and if I'm not busy I'd be glad to. IRC === I am often in IRC, sometimes idle and sometimes not. However, for an Archer there seems to be more pros then cons. PROS: *Long range attack. You can kill enemies before they get to you. *Very high attack and attack speed/dodge (DEX and AGI). *You can control the very powerful sub-character "Falcon". *Ankle Snare :) (Hunter). *Very powerful PvP class. *Very easy to level up. *Many builds to chose from. *You don't need to worry about sacraficing stat points to get DEX. *Good MVP character (if built right). *Large assets in WoE (guild wars) CONS: *Arrows and traps cost money. Although it isn't much, Archer is probably one of the poorer classes. You can still make allot of zenny of course. *Low HP and defense. Don't expect to be a tank. Even with flee, monsters always have a 5% chance of hitting you. *Novice is difficult. But if you find yourself a nice tank its fine. *Low skill choice as an Archer, and most of the Hunter's traps and useless after Comodo, which I believe every RO version now has. Archers tend to be very easy to level up because they can snipe. This means you will be able to kill things far beyond what someone at your level should be able to. Also, 2 of your few skills as an archer boost 2 of your vital stats, RANGE and DEX. Overall, Archer is a pretty easy class. It is pretty hard when you are low leveled so it's a good idea to find yourself a nice tank until about level 20 (unless you snipe). While Archers tend to be mediocre, Hunter is a VERY powerful class and if built right can be nearly unstoppable in PvP (player versus player). They specialize in traps that cause damage or negative effects to a mob such as freeze trap or sandman which causes sleep. Some traps such as Ankle Snare allow you to snipe without actually sniping. For more skill info skip ahead to the Archer and Hunter skills section. ------------------------- II - Starting from Novice ------------------------- First off, start off with these stats: AGI: 9 DEX: 9 INT: 9 LUK: 1 VIT: 1 STR: 1 This is the starting build for any of the Hunter builds. Here is a basic rundown of what each of these stats do and specifically what they do for you as an Archer. AGI: This stat will raise your Flee and ASPD. This is generally a very important stat for a Hunter. Having a higher ASPD will also maximize your Falcon's efficiency as more shots in a shorter period of time means more chances of your Falcon attacking in that period of time. For your general basic build, this is usually raised almost equally with AGI. DEX: This stat will raise your attack damage with a bow as well as your HIT rate, *STR DOES NOT RAISE BOW DAMAGE*. Obviously, this stat is important if you want to not miss and deal decent damage. DEX is a stat that is raised to 150 or 160 for MVP builds. Note that DEX will increase your damage greatly when it is at a multiple of 0 (70, 80, 90, etc). The difference between 70-78 or so DEX is only a few damage, but 80 will give you a large bonus. This will also raise your ASPD by a very small amount. INT: This stat is generally not raised to a large number. INT will increase trap and Falcon attack damage. The only reason to get this is if you plan on relying on your Falcon frequently, (or traps, but that's mainly before Comodo). This will also raise your SP and SP regen speed. LUK: Another stat that helps your Falcon. This can also increase your chance of a critical attack. LUK determines how often your falcon will attack, a very important stat for the Falcon Hunter. LUK will also raise your perfect dodge. VIT: This increases HP recovery, HP, and how much recovery items heal you. Not important at all for an Archer in most builds. VIT is however very important in a PvP or WoE based build. Having a least a little VIT in any build is, in my opinion, important. The HP boost helps alot. STR: This increases your weight and attack damage with melee weapons. Leave this at one also as you are not going to use a sword or melee weapon and it is a waste of stat points. STR also raises your weight so you can carry more supplies, but avoid this stat, trust me. Now back to Novice. Your quest as a Novice will be very difficult. You aren't build to be a melee fighter, but unfortunately, the Novice is a melee character so you'll have to try. For your first 5-6 levels, fight everything south of Payon except for Willows. Once you hit level 6, fight willows as well. Note that it is highly recommended you get a tank to take you through novice. Just politely ask some people to tank Poporings for you and you should be job level 10 in no time. Also whenever you fight a willow and it drops any kind of trunk, pick it up. You will need it to become an archer. Note that if you have other characters, you can use them to get the trunk and transfer them to your Archer character with storage. ------------------ III - Stat builds ------------------ There are many different types of Archers/Hunters and each requires a different stat build. The skill builds for every type are the same. Here are the types of Archers/Hunters and the stat builds for them. KEEP IN MIND: These builds (for the most part) are NOT meant to be used exactly as shown! They are a GUIDELINE. Infact, I would not suggest using most of these builds as shown exactly. This is because you generally try to end your stats in a "x0" digit (10, 20, etc). This includes your gears, and I can't predict what gears you are planning on using. 1. THE HYBRID HUNTER ==================== a. More AGI/DEX --------------- Like all hybrid builds, it takes the power of 2 important skills and cuts each in half to give you a bit of both. In this build, I put in more AGI/DEX then Falcon. Here is the build: (Note your equipment will improve greatly on many of these stats. This also assumes you have owl's eye level 10) 1 STR 90 AGI 1 VIT 29 INT 90 DEX 39 LUK ------ Base Crit: 14 Hit: 200 Flee: 189 Cast Time: 32.6% Lucky Dodge: 4 ASPD: 178.44 (fist) 167.66 (bow) Min MATK: 45 Max MATK: 54 SP: 510 SP Regem: 49 minutes 28 seconds, 10.3 SP per minute Auto Blitz Chance: 12.7% Note that you don't need to follow this exactly. You may choose not to add LUK/INT or you may chose to slot in DEX/AGI while you are adding LUK/INT. You can mold it to your liking. The same goes with the other builds. b. More AGI/DEX #2 ------------------ This build is basically the same as the above, but with more LUK, less INT, and slightly less DEX. Your falcon will auto blitz alot, but not as much as a Falconer's. Here we basically exchange Falcon damage for Falcon auto blitz chance. Here is the build: STR: 1 AGI: 90 VIT: 1 INT: 16 DEX: 89 LUK: 45 ------- Base Crit: 16 Hit: 198 Flee: 188 Cast Time: 33.3% Lucky Dodge: 5 ASPD: 178.40 (fist) 167.60 (bow) Min MATK: 20 Max MATK: 25 SP: 454 SP Regem: 49 minutes 56 seconds, 9 SP per minute Auto Blitz Chance: 14.5% The way I have suggested to build your character when leveling basic- ally tells you to add alot of AGI early and cram the DEX in later on. This is because of the Owl's eye skill and DEX job bonuses you get. At level 58, I had 61+10 AGI and 50+20 DEX. The +20 more then makes up for the massive AGI adding early on. 2. THE FALCON HUNTER ==================== CURRENTLY BEUNG RE-MODELED 3. THE POWER HUNTER =================== This build relies on a huge attack power as well as constant criticals and Falcon attacks. Your attack speed and flee will be very low and so will your Falcon's damage. But the point is to have enough power and criticals to make that not matter very much. You should try and get some defense upgrades for this build as you will be getting hit allot. Here is the stat build for the power Hunter: By the way, know that you will NEED a Priest to level. You will almost never dodge and it will be very hard leveling, but the end result will be a very nice offensive Hunter. Here is the other information: DEX: 99 LUK: 99 Base Crit: 34 Hit: 209 Flee: 100 Cast Time: 26.6% Lucky Dodge: 10 ASPD: 164.56 (fist) 146.84 (bow) Min MATK: 10 Max MATK: 10 SP: 431 SP Regem: 50 minutes 25 seconds, 8.5 SP per minute 4. THE AGI/DEX HUNTER [MVP] ===================== This type of Hunter relies on your 2 main stats. It is my version of hybrid minus the LUK and INT. The only 2 things you raise are DEX and AGI, so unfortunately this gives you a very low chance of a Falcon attack. So your Falcon is basically useless auto-attack and damage wise. THIS IS GENERALLY THE BUILD FOR MVPERS. This is because when you are our MvPing a monster, you generally don't attack mormally, you Double Strafe. Your Falcon can't come out when you use skills, so a Falcon is essentially useless for MvPing. So, getting the most out of your non Falcon stats can make you a very good MvPer. AGI: 99 DEX: 99 Here is the other information: Base Crit: 1 Hit: 209 Flee: 198 Cast Time: 26.6% Lucky Dodge: 1 ASPD: 180.24 (fist) 170.36 (bow) Min MATK: 10 Max MATK: 10 SP: 431 SP Regem: 50 minutes 25 seconds, 8.5 SP per minute -------------------------- IV - MAKING YOUR OWN BUILD -------------------------- If you don't want to use an un-original build or just don't particularly fancy any of the ones here, you can of course make your own. Making a build for a Hunter is a bit complex, as there are so many stats thar can help you. I like to describe making a Hunter build as using the stat distrobution hexagon you used when you were first creating your character. These are the catagories for the Hunter hexagon: 1. Accuracy (DEX) 2. Attack Speed/Flee (AGI) 3. Falcon auto-blitz, criticals (LUK) 4. Falcon and trap damage (INT) Well ok it's more of a rectangle then a hexagon, but you get the point. When you add more to one catagory, the others weaken. For example, for every stat point of AGI or DEX you put, you have less LUK and INT. Each catagory allows less stat points and resultingly less usefullness of another catagory. You can choose to max 2 of the catagories at 99, but this leaves room for no other catagories. You can raise 2 evenly, and the other 2 to an amount much greater or less then the other 2. The key to making a good build is balanc- ing these catagories out. You cannot excell in three areas. It is a good idea to pick two areas you wish to focus on as your main skill, and raise a third or possibly a fourth as a secondary skill. An example of this is the AGI/DEX hybrid builds. They raise AGI/DEX as the primary area of skill, and use some LUK and occasionally some INT for a secondary attack. You cannot rely on the LUK/INT, but it is still useful. The reverse goes for a falconer who relies mainly on LUK/INT. In conclusion: To make a good build, you need to know how to balance your possible areas of skill to make an efficient combonation. Using a stat calc to make and preview your builds is a good idea. Be sure to take into account the factor of your equipment, which will greatly effect the ending result of your build. ----------------- V - ARCHER SKILLS ----------------- As an archer, you have a very limited choice of skills. This will change as a hunter but for the time you are an archer you'll have to settle for these: a. Standard Skills ------------------- OFFENSIVE SKILLS ================ SKILL NAME: Double Strafe REQUIRMENTS: None DESCRIPTION: Attacks with 2 arrows for a very powerful attack. This skill does not use any arrows. SP COST: 15 MY COMMENT: This is a must have skill. Max it. This skill is one of the cheapest skills in the game, and is very powerful. SKILL NAME: Arrow Shower REQUIRMENTS: Double Strafe level 5 DESCRIPTION: Attacks in a 9 cell area with 1 hit to each cell SP COST: 15 MY COMMENT: This skill really isn't that good. It can save you occasionally against weak mobs, but later in the game it becoems pretty ineffective. However, this skill is very useful for WoE to spam status effects or to hit multiple wizards at once to stop a pre-cast. However, when you're attacking the enemy will often have Classical Pluck up, so this is mainly used for defending. All you need is level 1 for WoE. SUPPORTIVE SKILLS ================= SKILL NAME: Owl's Eye REQUIRMENTS: None DESCRIPTION: Increases your DEX stat LEVEL 1: DEX + 1 LEVEL 2: DEX + 2 LEVEL 3: DEX + 3 LEVEL 4: DEX + 4 LEVEL 5: DEX + 5 LEVEL 6: DEX + 6 LEVEL 7: DEX + 7 LEVEL 8: DEX + 8 LEVEL 9: DEX + 9 LEVEL 10: DEX + 10 MY COMMENT: Absolutely essential. You'd be crazy to not max this SKILL NAME: Vulture's Eye REQUIRMENTS: Owl's Eye level 3 DESCRIPTION: Increases your RANGE and HIT (accuracy) LEVEL 1: RANGE and HIT + 1 LEVEL 2: RANGE and HIT + 2 LEVEL 3: RANGE and HIT + 3 LEVEL 4: RANGE and HIT + 4 LEVEL 5: RANGE and HIT + 5 LEVEL 6: RANGE and HIT + 6 LEVEL 7: RANGE and HIT + 7 LEVEL 8: RANGE and HIT + 8 LEVEL 9: RANGE and HIT + 9 LEVEL 10: RANGE and HIT + 10 MY COMMENT: Same as above. Max it SKILL NAME: Improve Concentration REQUIRMENTS: None DESCRIPTION: Temporarily increases your DEX and AGI. Also allows you to detect hidden enemies within 3 cells for the duration of the skill LEVEL 1: SP: 25 | AGI/DEX up 3% | Duration: 40 seconds LEVEL 2: SP: 30 | AGI/DEX up 4% | Duration: 50 seconds LEVEL 3: SP: 35 | AGI/DEX up 5% | Duration: 60 seconds LEVEL 4: SP: 40 | AGI/DEX up 6% | Duration: 70 seconds LEVEL 5: SP: 45 | AGI/DEX up 7% | Duration: 80 seconds LEVEL 6: SP: 50 | AGI/DEX up 8% | Duration: 90 seconds LEVEL 7: SP: 55 | AGI/DEX up 9% | Duration: 100 seconds LEVEL 8: SP: 60 | AGI/DEX up 10% | Duration: 110 seconds LEVEL 9: SP: 65 | AGI/DEX up 11% | Duration: 120 seconds LEVEL 10: SP: 70 | AGI/DEX up 12% | Duration: 130 seconds MY COMMENT: Another incredibly cheap skill. Max this, it is your best friend. Note you need level 10 IC for 160 DEX. Here is the skill build I use: ============================== Owl's Eye lvl 3 Vulture's Eye lvl 10 Owl's Eye lvl 10 Double Strafe lvl 10 Improve Concentration 10 Arrow Shower 1 I strongly perfer Improve Concentration, as Arrow Shower is just over- shadowed by skills like Blitz Beat and Charge Arrow that server the same purpose (getting you out of tight spots). Improve Conentration is always useful and helps alot in PvP and WoE and in high level dungens. However, note that Arrow Shower is requested by many WoE guilds to spam status effects during sieges. b. Quest Skills --------------- SKILL NAME: Arrow Crafting INFORMATION: Create special kinds of arrows (ie Oridecon Arrows) out of materials you have. REQUIRED LEVEL: 30 NEEDED QUEST ITEMS: 20 Resins (Elder Willow) 1 Red Potion 13 Trunks (Elder Willow, Willow, Greatest General) 41 Tough Scale Like Stems (Stem Worm) 7 Mushroom Spores (Spore, Poison Spore, Colored Mushrooms) QUEST NPC: "Kyulnari" in Morroc in the central water area SKILL NAME: Arrow Repel INFORMATION: Shoot a charged arrow at an enemy at 150% of your normal attack sending it back 7 cells. It has a very small cast time, but is not considered a spell so if the caster is hit during the small cast duration he/she will continue casting REQUIRED LEVEL: Job 35 NEEDED QUEST ITEMS: 1 Cross Bow (You get it back after the quest) 10 Tentacles 3 Yoyo Tails 2 Emeralds 36 Banana Juice QUEST NPC: "Gaeho" in the South West area of Payon (between a house and wall) ----------------------- VI - ARCHER WALKTHROUGH ----------------------- 1. The Archer Quest =================== Allot of people say the archer quest is difficult, but I think it is one of the easier quests. Your quest is to gather "trunk" from the enemy "willow" the tree. (Note: Do NOT try and fight elder willows!) The only hard part comes from the fact as a novice you are forced to fight melee when you aren't built for it. So wait until level 5-6 before you start hunting willows. It also wouldn't hurt to carry around 5 reds for emergencies if you can afford it. If you train on willows during novice and pick up all the trunk it drops, you should have more then enough by the time you hit job level 10. Note that if you find any "trunk" with no prefix do NOT use it in the quest! Trunks are either sold for 1k or gathered to make the headgear "sakkat". Put any "trunk" you have in your Kafra storage space before changing to archer. 2. Your first steps as Archer ============================= Now your off! You'll find being an archer is much easier then being a novice. This is for 3 main reasons: 1) The 2 stats you were raising before [DEX and AGI] now matter to you, 2) You can now choose not to fight melee but long range instead, which is what you are built for, and 3) you can snipe harder enemies such as pecopecos and creamys from cliffs. Now what should you do first? First thing is to gather up 1400z for a composite bow. Don't worry about silver/fire arrows for now, save those for later levels. Once you have your new bow, train on Rockers, pickys, drops, etc. All the things you trained on during novice will still give you good exp as well. You may not know it yet, but getting 1% or even .5% base EXP from a pooring is heaven. Keep up the training until you get to level 20 or so, then try payon cave level 1 with silver arrows and a crossbow. 3. Where to level ================= 1-12: ----- Poorings, fabres, pupas, pecopeco eggs, pickys, willows, etc. 13-20: ------ I suggest a tank for these levels. You can try Culverts 1 with red pots if you like, or hit and run poporings/spores in 'Mids 1. 20-30: ------ Payon Cave 1 works well with Silver Arrows. Double Strafe the Familiars and hit and run the Zombies. The Poporings are good EXP as well. 30-40: ------ Payon Cave 2 will work with potions. Forgive me lack on knowledge on this level range. 40-50: ------ Try some snipe locations. You can hit and run Aligators 2E of Comodo, or Argopies 2N of Pront. GH graveyard will work as well, just be carful of Hunter Flies. Use Silver Arrows for this if you plan on trying. 50-Hunter: ---------- Essentially continue what you have been doing snipe location and hit and run wise. Graveyard will be much eassier for you now, and so will 'Mids 3 and Aligators. You can try Orc Dungen 1 with a party if you really want something new, but I would stick to snipeing/hit and run. Hunter-65: ---------- Snare at Graveyard. This will be excellent EXP, and you can handle the flies better with your traps. You can try partying with a Priest/Aco there as well to make things eassier. You can also try brining some orange potions to Mids3 or Mids4 and kill regularly there. Just be carfule of the rare Ancient Mummy spawn in level 4. 65-70: ------ Once you hit 65, all of the above suggestions will still work. However, you can now try Orc Dungen 2 (Zenorcs). Use a Bloody Bow and Silver Arrows. It is very fast EXP here, and very good normal loot. The dungen is basically the old Geffen 1 but for higher leveled people. Watch out for the occasional Orc Lord spawn. See the dungen guide section for more detials on this location. 70-80: ------ In the low 70's, try 'Mids 4 with some pots. It should be much eassier then the 65-70 range, especially if you have good flee for your level. If you do not yet have a Mocking Muffler, this is the time to get one. From here on, I will assume you have a mocking. It is an essential tool for leveling. Anyways, get yourself up yo about 75-77 in 'Mids 4. After that, you can party up with a Priest in Prison. Luck helps immensely here, as you will do very little damage to the Rybios. You will need to rely on Gloria to kill those with your bird. See the dungen guide section for more details on Prison 1. You can stay in Pris 1 for a long time. The exp is still good there at my level (94). Another leveling location at this range, which is VERY good for the rich people out there, is HIGH ORCS. This dungen can be very good EXP with a a Priest. You will need a Bloody Bow, and Crystal Arrows. These arrows are hard to come by and cost a fortune, but make your damage very high against High Orcs. You will also see Fires for the Orc Archers and Arclous. See the dungen guide for more information on this location. 80-90: ------ You will now essentially need a Priest to level. 'Mids 4 will not be all that great anymore compared to what else is out there, and what else is out there requires a Priest. You can continue at Prison 1, it will probebly be the same or better EXP then before because you can take it better now. High Orcs will still be great EXP as well. The new possibilities are GH Chivalry 2, GH Castle 2 mob party, and Turtle Island Surface. You need a Priest for all of these except for TI Surface. For Chiv2, you will need silvers, and a bloody bow. Bring a normal bow or a Santa Poring bow as well for the Khalitzburgs and Raydric Archers. Mobbing at Castle2 is going to be hard without a good tank, Wizard, and Priest. Your job will be to kill any stray monsters, and arrow shower the monsters in the Storm Gust to break the ice. 4. Your equipment ================= As you gain levels, your equipment becomes very important to you. Equipment that you can buy from shops aside from weapons usually won't suit you well and you'll either need to hunt monsters or pay allot of zenny for the equipment you want. Here is a list of the equipment you should have. An > means, "get this, then once you can, get this". a. Leveling Gear ---------------- HEADGEAR: --------- - APPLE O' ARCHER [AoA is dropped by Archer Skeleton in 'Mids 2/3/4 and Payon 4/5. It is DEX+3 and 0 DEF.] - SAKKAT [Sakkat is recieved from an NPC in Alde Baren in exchange for 120 Trunk and 10k. It is AGI+1 and DEF+3.] - GHOST BANDANA [Ghost Bandana is a very rare headgear dropped by the mini-boss Ghostring. Ghostring spawns in Poring Island (2N, 1E Pront) and there are usually alot of people camping him. The headgear is AGI+2 and 0 DEF.] - BUNNY BAND [Bunny Band is dropped very rarely by the mini-boss Eclipse. It can be made much easier then it is hunted in a Kafra quest. You need to get 100 feather 20 perls, 1 kitty band, and 1 four leaf clover. It is LUK+2.] - ANGEL WING [This headgear is very rarely dropped by the mini-boss Angeling. He spawns on Poring Island (2N 1E Pront) and on the Argopie Map (3N Pront). The head- gear is AGI+1, LUK+1, DEF +3.] HEAD-MIDDLE: ------------ - BINOCULARS [Binoculars are DEX+1 and 0 DEF. This is the only useful Middle Headgear. Making them is a quest and requires 100 Steel, Greek Glases, and 10k.] - SLOTTED SUNGLASSES [Slotted Sunglasses are very rare and very expensive. They can only be obtained through an Old Blue Box or a very rare event that sometimes occures.] - EAGLE EYES [Eagle Eyes (A.K.A. Angled Glasses come Juno) just look cool. They are DEF+1 and thar's all. They are dropped by Savages.] HEAD-LOWER: ----------- - Whatever makes your character look cool. I reccomend Romantic Flower. GARMENT: -------- - SLOTTED MUFFLER [Slotted Mufflers are dropped by Sohees in Payon 4/5 and rarely 2 fields east of Payon.] ARMOR: ------ - SLOTTED TIGHTS [Slotted Tights are dropped by Jakk in Geffen 3. They are DEX+1 and DEF+6.] FOOTGEAR: --------- - SLOTTED BOOTS [Slotted Boots are DEF+4 and are dropped by Argopies.] - CRYSTAL PUMPS [Crystal Pumps are LUK+5 and 0 DEF. They are dropped by Alice, Marrionette, and Succubus.] ACCESSORY: ---------- - CLIP [Clip is dropped by Alarms in Clock Tower 3. They are the only accessory aside from level 90+ requirment ones with a slot, they are also SP+10 and have very little weight, don't buy belts, they are to heavy. Clips sell for 90-110k. See the cards section below for good cards to put into it.] - BROOCH [Brooch is AGI+2 with no slot. It is dropped by Marionette and Diabolic. There is no market for them, and they are rarely on sale.] - ANCIENT BROOCH [Ancient Brooch is AGI+1 but has a slot. The catch is, it has a levle 90 requirment. It is dropped by Anolian.] - GLOVE [Glove is DEX+2 with no slot. They are dropped by Mummies.] - ANCIENT GLOVE [Ancient Glove is DEX+1 but has a slot. Again, it hasa lvl 90 requirment. It is dropped by Ancient Mummy is 'Mids basement 2 amd Stings.] b. PvP/WoE Gear --------------- HEADGEAR: --------- - POO POO HAT [This hat subtracts 10% damage you recieve from other players. It is equal to an over upgraded Bone Helm. Use this, it's cheap to buy as well.] - CORSAIR [MVP Drop from Drake. It adds VIT+1 and has 5 DEF.] GARMENT: -------- - IMMUNE MUFFLER [The Raydric Card will give you a 20% damage reduction against neutral property attacks. A Mocking is useless as in WoE/PvP, you can pretty much assume everything will hit you. Other hunters occasionally like to run around with Ghost Property arrows as well, which will do 50% more damage to you because of the Whisper card.] ARMOR: ------ - UNFROZEN TIGHTS [This should always be paired with a Marse Muffler. You will use it to run into pre-casts. It makes it so you will not be frozen by Storm Gust or the Bard skill Frost Joke. However, the Marse card is neccessary as taking all hits from a Storm Gust will hurt. Make sure you have some whites to mash when you run in with this.] - HARD TIGHTS [+700HP is always a good thing. Pupa cards also tend to be cheap.] - SPIRITUAL TIGHTS [If you can get them...] FOOTGEAR: --------- - GREEN BOOTS [+10% Max HP and +1 AGI. These are the best boots to use, except for the possibility of Moonlight Boots if you manage to grab them. But even then, more HP is generally better then walking faster.] ACCESSORY: ---------- - ROSARY [+5MDEF and +2 LUK. It will be of great help in pre-casts. Once you hit 90, use slotted Rosary and put a useful card in such as Zerom.] - SAFTEY RINGS [This is the overall best possible accessory. Each ring gives DEF+3 MDEF+3. They are extremely expensive, but having two of these equiped is very nice] WEAPONS: -------- - STATUS BOWS [Use 4 slot Composite Bows and insert four of the same status card. Savage Bebe is a common choice. Use bows such as the stun bow to stun Wizards, and AGI based characters. Ice bows work as well for VIT characters.] - VITAL BOW [If you don't plan on attacking and are a pure trapper build, this works very well. +400HP and +4VIT.] - FORTUNE SWORD [Again, a weapon for the pure trapper. This should obviously be paired with a Thara Frog Guard. It gives PERFECT DODGE+20 LUK+5.] 5. Equipment Cards ================== Now in that you may have noticed "slotted" equipment allot. In each slot you can place 1 card. Cards are very rarely dropped by enemies and some are very good and sought after such as a whisper card or viata card. Here are the cards I would suggest putting in your equipment if you can get then all: HEAD-MIDDLE: ------------ -WILLOW CARD [SP +80, worth about 30k.] -ELDER WILLOW CARD [INT +2, worth about 50k.] GARMENT: -------- -WHISPER CARD [Flee +20, 50% more damage taken from the ghost. Worth 1.8-2mil. Whispers are found in Geffen 2/3, Sphyinx 2/3/4. and Sunken Ship.] -RAYDRIC CARD (for DEX/LUK build) [Physical Attack Damage -15%, worth about 6 mil. Raydric is found in GH Castle 2 and several other GH areas.] ARMOR: ------ - THIEF BUG CARD [AGI +1, worth about 10k. Thief Bugs are found in Pronter Culverts.] - ROCKER CARD [DEX +1, worth about 15-20k. Rockers are found 1W of Prontera.] - RODA FROG CARD [MHP +400, MSP +50, worth about 100k] - PUPA CARD [MHP +700, worth 400k-450k] FOOTGEAR: --------- - SOHEE CARD [SP +15%, MSP +50, worth about 450k. Sohees are found in Payon 4/5.] - MATYR CARD [MHP +10%, AGI +1, worth about 1-1.5mil. Matyr is found in Sphyinx 2/3/4 and also in 'Mids 4.] - MALE THIEF BUG CARD [AGI +2. worth about 500k. Male Thief Bugs are found in Pronter Culverts.] ACCESSORY: ---------- - KUKRE CARD [AGI +2, worth about 60k. Kukre is found in Sunken Ship] - ZENROM CARD [DEX +3, worth about 2m. Zenrom is found in Sphyinx 1/2.] - YOYO CARD [Perfect Dodge +5%, AGI +1, worth about 900k.] - KOBOLD CARD [Critical +4%, STR +1, worth about 500k-600k.] 6. Snipe location guide =======================----------------------------- |THIS SECTION IS OUT DATED AND WILL BE UPDATED SOON| ---------------------------------------------------- a. 'Mids level 3 ---------------- RECCOMENDED LEVEL: 40 ENEMIES: Mummy, Solider Skeleton, Dramiliar, Archer Skeleton RARES: Rough Oridecon, Mummy Card, Apple of Archer, Dramiliar Card, Soldier Skeleton card, Archer Skeleton card, Glove DANGEROUS: 4/5 COSRTLY: 5/5 EXP GAIN: 4/5 OVERALL RATING: 5/5 'Mids level 3 is an overall good snipe spot. The spawn rates are good and each mummy, Dramiliar, or skeleton you kill will give you allot of EXP. The only bad things are it is VERY dangerous and you will need to spend allot of zenny on fly wings and red pots each time you go in. The whole map is sniping though, it is just endless hallways with no walls in-between them. So all you do is stand at one hallway and shoot monsters that are in the hallway parallel to yours. It is very fast EXP and is an excellent spot as long as you are rich and careful. Also be careful of the Archer Skeletons. If you get to close to the edge of the hallway you're on, they can snipe you from their hallway. Just stand 2 cells from the edge and you should be able to shoot them safely. To get to 'Mids 3, first go to Morroc. Then, exit Morroc through the north west exit. Go to the north west corner of the new map you are in and you will see a pyramid (most likely with people regening outside) Go inside it and just fly wing through the huge maze that is level 1. Level 2 is very dangerous and mobs fast, so don't try to walk it. Fly wing through level 2 and finally get to level 3. b. Aligators ------------ RECCOMENDED LEVEL: 35 lowest ENEMIES: Aligators, Wild Rose, Anaqandas RARES: Cute Ribbon, Anaqanda card, Desert Wolf card DANGEROUS: 1.5/5 COSRTLY: 2/5 EXP GAIN: 5/5 OVERALL RATING: 3.8/5 With the addition of the Comodo update came a map where Aligators and Wild Roses reside. Each will give you a huge amount of EXP and they are non-aggressive, making it not very dangerous at all. The only aggressive monster is the Desert Wolf, but this monster only spawns in the desert area of the map which you have no reason to go near. There are allot of good cliffs on the map, but it can take a long time to find an Alligator or Wild Rose. They will also run off screen allot, but they usually come back soon. Wild Roses are very quick and usually run off before you can kill them, but Aligators are basically the same EXP. Allot of ASPD helps in this snipe spot so you can stop the monsters from moving before they get off screen. The only thing you will need here item wise is fly wings, to make it through the other maps which are very dangerous. It isn't very costly and you really won't die very at all unless you do something stupid like shoot a monster on the same level as you're on. To get to the Aligators map, go to Comodo. Then, exit Comodo east. You should now be in a cave. The cave isn't dangerous and almost nothing is aggressive, but still watch your step. The next field has poison spores, but they shouldn't be much of a threat. The next field however has some VERY dangerous enemies. They will do about 500 damage and they move very fast, so fly wing out of there as fast as you can. After you exit this field, you are in the Alligator map. c. Argopies ----------- RECCOMENDED LEVEL: 40 ENEMIES: Argopies, Argos RARES: Sloted Boots, Argopie card, Argos card DANGEROUS: 4.5/5 COSRTLY: 4/5 EXP GAIN: 5/5 OVERALL RATING: 4/5 Argopies are ugly centipede like creatures that live near Prontera. The spot is very dangerous as they are aggressive and hurt allot. They are slow though, so you can try and hit and run them. They will often spawn on the cliff you're sniping on, so you'll need allot of fly wings and red pots making this spot about as costly as 'Mids level 3. The EXP is great though, and you can level up very fast. On my last job level, I was leeching and got 1% from each Argopie. This would mean that even at job 39 you would get 2% per Argopie, which is very good EXP. Getting to Argopies is very simple and safe. Just go to Prontera. Exit Prontera through the north castle exit and go 1 map north. You are on the Argopie map. 7. Archer job bonuses ===================== Job bonuses are upgrades to your stats that are given when you reach certain job levels. They can help you allot and give you that extra boost some people need to make you better. After you change to Hunter all of your job bonuses you earned as an Archer will be gone. But they will be replaced with Hunter job bonuses. Here are the job bonuses for an Archer by job level: ------------------------------------ |JOB | BONUS | JOB | BONUS | ------------------------------------ | 1 | N/A | 26 | AGI +1 | | 2 | DEX +1 | 27 | N/A | | 3 | N/A | 28 | N/A | | 4 | N/A | 29 | N/A | | 5 | N/A | 30 | DEX +4 | | 6 | STR +1 | 31 | N/A | | 7 | N/A | 32 | N/A | | 8 | N/A | 33 | AGI +2 | | 9 | N/A | 34 | N/A | | 10 | INT +1 | 35 | N/A | | 11 | N/A | 36 | DEX +5 | | 12 | N/A | 37 | N/A | | 13 | N/A | 38 | STR +2 | | 14 | DEX +2 | 39 | N/A | | 15 | N/A | 40 | STR +3 | | 16 | N/A | 41 | N/A | | 17 | N/A | 42 | DEX +6 | | 18 | DEX +3 | 43 | N/A | | 19 | N/A | 44 | LUK +2 | | 20 | N/A | 45 | N/A | | 21 | N/A | 46 | VIT +1 | | 22 | LUK +1 | 47 | INT +2 | | 23 | N/A | 48 | N/A | | 24 | N/A | 49 | AGI +3 | | 25 | N/A | 50 | DEX +7 | ------------------------------------ TOTAL JOB BONUSES: ================== STR: +3 VIT: +1 DEX: +7 INT: +2 LUK: +2 AGI: +3 8. How to make zenny ==================== CURRENTLY BEING RE-DONE. CHECK BACK NEXT UPDATE. ------------------------ VII - Changing to Hunter ------------------------ [Thanks to Karukaze for the Hunter quest information.] GETTING THERE ============= Before the TI update, this was the hardest part of changing to Hunter, sadly enough. Getting to the Hunter guild can actually be rather hard without an escort. The first 2 maps are easy. First, exit Payon east into the willow face map. Then, exit east again. Once in that map, exit south (this is the Edga map for those who know where that is). The field you are now in is infested with dangerous aggressive monsters including Horong and Munak. There are also poison spores, but those shouldn't be a problem. Now, you will see a huge cliff in the middle of the mini map. Go onto the cliff while avoiding the blue flame creatures named Horong (you won't be able to hit them past 5 damage and they will do 200~ to you). Once on the cliff, go down a bit and look for a mass of bamboo trees with a purple haired NPC named "Hunter" inside them. Talk to him and you will be instantly taken to the Hunter guild. PERSONALITY TEST ================ Now, if the Turtle Island update was not implimented yet, the lady at the front desk in the Hunter guild would instantly change you into a Hunter. But unfortunately, it is implimented. Talk to the lady at the front desk, and she will give you a personality quiz like the one you took in the Training Grounds to decide your class. You CAN fail this, but most people don't, and the right answers are unkown. Just answer what you think the game wants to hear. Now here comes the actual quest! ITEM GATHERING ============== After the personality quiz, you will be told to goto another NPC. | | | A | ---------| |--------- B C ---------| |--------- | | | | | | A = Lady at the front desk B = Hunter Recep C = Falcon Dealer Goto the NPC marked B on the map, and he will tell you to gather items. These are all of the possible item combonations I have found: ITEM COMBO 1 ------------ 9 Yellow Herbs 9 Shells 9 Worm Peelings ITEM COMBO 2 ------------ 3 Bill of Birds 4 Skel Bones 5 Green Herbs ITEM COMBO 3 ------------ 5 White Herbs 5 Wooden Blocks 5 Claw of Desert Wolf If you want, you can cheat by using another character to get the items and then transfering them to your Archer. Now, bring the items back to the NPC. FINDING THE MASTER HUNTER ========================= Now, go back to the lady at the front desk. She will send you on your way to the hardest part of the quest. I hear this is alot like the Assasin quest. Your quest will be to find the "Master Hunter" at either the central palace, or Payon Village. CENTRAL PALACE NPC ------------------ To get to this NPC, go back to Payon and go up the big set of steps in the middle of the town (where the Mr. Smile NPC is). Go north a bit and then go west. You will see a portal to a building, go in. Then inside that building go through the south portal, the Hunter NPC is in that room. PAYON VILLAGE NPC ----------------- To get to this NPC, go to the Archer Village and then to the Archer Guild. In the guild, go through the northeast portal. The Hunter NPC is in that room. THE TEST ======== Now, your NPC will explain your test to you (which I have heard is the same as the Assasin quest), and give you 200 silver arrows before he sends you off. You will be teleported to a room with a guide and a chatroom. Talk to the guide for the info on the quest, and enter the chatroom once you're ready to take the quest. You need to be in the chatroom to even qualify to take the test, and you cannot leave. Only one person can take the test at a time, so you can chat with other people when you fail and need to try the test again :). You will be constantly pulled in and out of the chatroom. What the test actually is, is you get teleported to a room and need to kill 4 different monsters. These monsters are called "Job Change Monster" and will take the form of a Poring, Zombie, Archer Skeleton, or Mummy. If you kill anything witn a different name such as "Hunter Change Monster" or "Job Test Monster", you will be kicked out and have to start over. If you die, you will also be kicked out and be forced to start over. Once you have killed all 4 Job Change Monsters, all the monsters will die. You should also be very carful while walking through the room as there are traps set. You can tell if a tile is a trap because they look like they have water in them. After all the monsters have been killed, go to the center of the map. Talk to the switch and it will give you some options, choose "escape". You will now have 3 minutes to exit the map from the opposite side in whuch you came in. Basically: (6:00) (12:00) e------ -----s------ ----ex e = entrance s = switch ex = exit Note that there will be traps and water blockers to try and stop you. You should take it slow since all the monsters are gone anyways, and it will help you to avoid the traps. THE CLASS CHANGE ================ Once you're done, talk to the Hunter again and you will recieve a necklace. Give this necklace to the lady at the front desk, and yay! You're a Hunter! ---------------- VIII - Aftermath -------------------------------------------------------------- |THIS SECTION IS CURRENTLY OUT DATED AND WILL BE UPDATED SOON| -------------------------------------------------------------- After you are a hunter, you will find your hp, sp, aspd, and other stats have increased drastically. You can also now use the Hunter Bow if you chose that over a slotted Arbalest. When your done getting your new equipment, go and kill some eggyras or poison spores for a few easy job levels. First, get Falcon mastery. After you do that, go back to the Hunter guild and talk to the falconer at the right desk. He will sell you a falcon for 2500z. GET ONE! Now get beast bane level 1, skid trap level 1, and then max Ankle snare. This attack will be your best friend. it can hold an enemy in place for 30 seconds when maxed eliminating the need for sniping and allowing you to take on enemies way above your level. After ankle snare is maxed, max blitz beat and then steel crow unless you have 1 LUK (AGI/DEX). Now you're off! Have fun, your 2nd class! Buy some traps and start snaring and killing. Good luck . (I recommend leveling at Glast Heim, Geffen 2, or Payon 4). ------------------ IX - Hunter Skills ------------------ One of the nice things about being a Hunter is you get a very wide selection of skills. This is very different from an Archer where you only get a few skills. This means that if a Hunter is your first character, you may have trouble distributing your skill points over such a wide variety of skills. This section will describe each skill and at the end give some nice skill builds to follow. NOTE: Mosr of the formulas here are from http://www.rodatazone.com TRAP SKILLS =========== SKILL NAME: Ankle Snare REQUIRMENTS: Skid trap level 1 TRAPS NEEDED: 1 SP COST: 15 DESCRIPTION: This trap holds an enemy in place. The time it holds depends on the monster's AGI. It's duration is 300-50*Skill level (seconds). SNARE TIME: 5*Skill Level/(Target AGI*.01 MY COMMENT: This is probably one of if not the best trap. Max it. SKILL NAME: Blast Mine REQUIRMENTS: Flasher level 1, Freezing trap level 1, sandman level 1 TRAPS NEEDED: 1 SP COST: 10 DESCRIPTION: Causes fire damage in a 3x3 area. It explodes 12-2*Skill Level seconds after planted. DAMAGE: [DEX/2+50] * [1 +INT/100] * Skill Level MY COMMENT: It's a nice trap, but the requirements are harsh. You'll need to sacrifice allot of skill points for it. SKILL NAME: Claymore Trap REQUIRMENTS: Blastmine level 1, Shockwave level 1 TRAPS NEEDED: 2 SP COST: 15 DESCRIPTION: This trap explodes over a 5x5 area and gives stronger damage when there are more enemies in the 5x5 area. The trap explodes after 20*Skill Level (seconds). DAMAGE: [DEX/2*75] * [1+INT/100] * Skill Level MY COMMENT: This is about equal or just under ankle snare. However the requirements are again very harsh. If you max blast mine you should max this as well. It is VERY useful in mobs SKILL NAME: Flasher REQUIRMENTS: Skid trap level 1 TRAPS NEEDED: 2 SP COST: 20 DESCRIPTION: This trap blinds an enemy. Lasts for 180-30*Skill Level seconds. MY COMMENT: Honestly I hate this trap. It's not worth the SP or traps. Plus, sandman or freezing trap is much better. To bad it's required for some better skills. It hits in a 3x3 area, so it's ok I suppose. SKILL NAME: Freezing Trap REQUIRMENTS: Flasher level 1 TRAPS NEEDED: 2 SP COST: 20 DESCRIPTION: This trap freezes an enemy and causes water damage in a 3x3 area and has a chance to freeze the target(s). Lasts for 180-30*Skill Lvl MY COMMENT: It can be a useful tool for mobs, but you probebly won't use it outside of PvP. SKILL NAME: Land Mine REQUIRMENTS: None TRAPS NEEDED: 1 DESCRIPTION: This trap causes damage and has a chance to stun the target. The trap lasts for 80-15*Skill Level (seconds) DAMAGRE: [DEX+75] * [1+INT/100] * Skill Level STUN DURATION: 1+.05*Skill Level (seconds) MY COMMENT: This isn't a bad skill, but like most traps, I find it rather useless unless you have alot of INT. The stun chance is a nice add for PvP. SKILL NAME: Sandman REQUIRMENTS: Flasher level 1 TRAPS NEEDED: 1 DESCRIPTION: This trap has an unkown chance of putting all targets in a 3z3 area to sleep. It is invisible only to people who were off screen when it was planted, or those who go off screen and come back. MY COMMENT: Not a bad trap, it's the good version of Flasher. SKILL NAME: Shockwave Trap REQUIRMENTS: Ankle Snare level 1 TRAPS NEEDED: 1 DESCRIPTION: This trap drains SP from whoever steps on it. Very useful in PvP and WoE to knock off Priests and Wizards. SP drained is 5%+15%*Skill Lvl [Ok, ok, it's not done YET. I'm getting there... =\] Here are two skill builds I would reccomend. The first is for a build that even remotely uses a falcon, the 2nd is for builds that don't use a falcon at all. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ |THESE SKILL BUILDS ARE CURRENTLY BEING RE-DONE. CHECK BACK NEXT UPDATE| ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Falcon Skill build: =================== Beast Bane level 1 Falcon Mastery level 1 Blitzbeat level 5 Steal Crow level 10 Skid Trap level 1 Ankel Snare level 5 Flasher level 1 Shockwave Trap level 1 Freezing Trap level 1 Sandman level 1 Land Mine level 1 (note all these level 1 traps are just requirments Blast Mine level 1 (for Blastmine and Claymore Trap) Claymore Trap level 5 Blastmine level 5 Freezing Trap level 5 Skid Trap level 5 [3 skill points left, do whatever you want. If you chose a build with even 25 LUK and 15 INT in it a falcon can be quite useful. A falcon is used for the skills Blitz Beat, Steel Crow, Remove Trap, and Detect. Blitz Beat allows your falcon to attack automatically when you attack based on LUK. Steel Crow raises its attack power, as does INT. Remove trap does pretty much what its name implies, and Detect allows you to make hidden enemies visible again. Also, another Blitz Beat note is that the auto attack formula is [(3*LUK/1000)*100]+1 However, attack speed can also effect the Auto Blitz chance. A Falcon's damage is determined by the formula: (floor (Dex /10,1) + floor (INT/2,1) + Steel Crow lvl*3 + 40) * 2 * Skill lvl (from http://www.hostultra.com/~himeyasha/iRO%202-2/birdie_damage.htm) According to this site (which is accurate), the maximum Falcon damage you can achieve is 1510 per blitz beat. This is with 160 DEX and 130 INT. To get 1,000 damage which is a common choice, 30 INT and 150 DEX is needed. LUK: Determines how often your Falcon attacks. Every 1 LUK raises your auto blitz chance by .3% INT: Determines your Falcon's attack power. Every 2 INT gives you an extra 10 Falcon damage DEX: Determines your Falcon's attack power as well. Every 5 DEX gives you an extra 10 Falcon damage Blitz Beat: Allows for your LUK stat to start working, each level of the skill lets your Falcon have an additional attack. It can also be used manually Auto Blitz Chance: [(3*LUK/1000)*100]+1 Attack spoeed also effects it. Falcon Damage: (floor (Dex /10,1) + floor (INT/2,1) + Steel Crow lvl*3 + 40) * 2 * Skill lvl Steel Crow: Effects your Falcon's attack power Detect: Uncover hidden enemies Remove Trap: Remove a trap... For your falcon to "auto blitz" (auto attack) all five times, you need to be job level 41. For each 10 job levels your Falcon attacks an additional time. You start with 1 attack. Blitzbeat can always be used manually to attack 5 times, but unless you're a falcon hunter Double Strafe is usually better as well as less costly cast delay and SP wise. ----------------------- XI - Hunter Job Bonuses ----------------------- As I have already explained job bonuses, I will just list the job bonuses for a Hunter. Here they are by level: ------------------------------------ |JOB | BONUS | JOB | BONUS | ------------------------------------ | 1 | DEX +1 | 26 | N/A | | 2 | N/A | 27 | DEX +6 | | 3 | INT +1 | 28 | N/A | | 4 | DEX +2 | 29 | LUK +3 | | 5 | LUK +1 | 30 | N/A | | 6 | STR +1 | 31 | AGI +4 | | 7 | N/A | 32 | N/A | | 8 | DEX +3 | 33 | DEX +7 | | 9 | N/A | 34 | INT +2 | | 10 | STR +2 | 35 | N/A | | 11 | N/A | 36 | N/A | | 12 | STR +3 | 37 | N/A | | 13 | AGI +1 | 38 | DEX +8 | | 14 | DEX +4 | 39 | AGI +5 | | 15 | LUK +2 | 40 | N/A | | 16 | N/A | 41 | INT +3 | | 17 | VIT +1 | 42 | LUK +4 | | 18 | N/A | 43 | DEX +9 | | 19 | AGI +2 | 44 | STR +4 | | 20 | AGI +3 | 45 | N/A | | 21 | DEX +5 | 46 | INT +4 | | 22 | N/A | 47 | AGI +6 | | 23 | VIT +2 | 48 | N/A | | 24 | N/A | 49 | DEX +10 | | 25 | N/A | 50 | N/A | ------------------------------------ TOTAL BONUSES: ============== STR: +4 AGI: +6 VIT: +2 INT: +4 DEX: +10 LUK: +4 ---------------- XII - The Sniper ---------------- The Sniper is a class that has just been introduced to RO, and is currently only in kRO and not fully implimented. It is what is known as an "advanced 2nd class". What an advanced 2nd class is, is essentially a powered up and improved version of the previous 2-1 or 2-2 class. Hunters become Snipers, and gain some very powerful skills. To become a Sniper, or any advanced 2nd class, you first need to reach level 99. Once you do, you can chose to take the path of a Sniper. You will be changed back into a Novice, (yes, all the way back to level 1) and will have to make it to level 99 AGAIN. There are some changes to leveling this time however. As a Novice, you will be given 50 stat points which can be distributed freely (you don't need to use the hexagon). Your max HP and SP will also be raised by 25%-30%, and you will be able to go to job level 70 on your Sniper. However, leveling this time around will require 2-3 times more experience then it originally did. You can also only change to the same job you had originally. This means that if you were an Archer previously, you have to be an Archer>Hunter>Sniper your 2nd time around. SNIPER JOB BONUSES ================== Your final job bonuses are as follows: (Yes, insane) STR: +4 AGI: +10 VIT: +3 INT: +5 DEX: +14 LUK: +8 SNIPER SKILLS ============= SKILL NAME: True Sight REQUIRMENTS: Improve Concentration lvl10, Vulture's Eye lvl10 Owl's Eye lv10, Falcon Mastery lvl1 DESCRIPTION: Adds +5 to ALL stats, and increases hit, damage, and crit rate. ---------------------------------------- | LEVEL | HIT | DAMAGE | CRITICAL | SP | ---------------------------------------- | 1 | +3% | +2% | +1% | 50 | | 2 | +6% | +4% | +2% | 50 | | 3 | +9% | +6% | +3% | 60 | | 4 | +12%| +8% | +4% | 60 | | 5 | +15%| +10% | +5% | 70 | | 6 | +18%| +12% | +6% | 70 | | 7 | +21%| +14% | +7% | 80 | | 8 | +24%| +16% | +8% | 80 | | 9 | +27%| +18% | +9% | 90 | | 10 | +30%| +20% | +10% | 90 | ---------------------------------------- SKILL NAME: Falcon Assult REQUIRMENTS: Vulture's Eye lvl5, Falcon Mastery lvl1, Blitz Beat lvl5, Steel Crow lvl3 DESCRIPTION: Uses your Falcon to attack a SINGLE enemy. With that said, here is the guide: 1. Payon Cave 1 =============== LEVEL RANGE: 20-35 MONSTERS: Zombie, Familiar, Spore, Boa, Red Plant RECCOMENDED BOW/ARROW: Anything / Silver arrows RARE DROPS: ZOMBIE: Zombie Card, Opal, Cursed Ruby FAMILIAR: Familiar Card, Ribbon, Falchino SPORE: Spore Card, Spore Doll BOA: Snake Card At first, going in here is almost suicide. Your AGI and DEX will both be very low so will WILL get hit alot and will not do alot of damage. But, the EXP is very fast and with silver arrows you can do quite a bit of damage to zombies and familiars. The familiars will be very annoying at low levels, as it takes alot of flee to dodge them and they attack and move fast. You can try and hit and run the Zombies, they move extremely slow. Try to stay by the regen area where all the people are at first so if you get into trouble you can be saved by someone else. There are usually alot of 2nd class people hanging by the regen area as well, and one may be bored enough to tank you if you ask (only once) nicely. Once you hit level 30, you can kill there with ease unless it mobs. A high AGI helps in this dungen. If you party with an aco or mage that can work very nicely to. 2. Orc Dungen 2 =============== LEVEL RANGE: 60-75 (possibly to 80) MONSTERS: Zenorc, Orc Skeleton, Steel Chonchon, Chonchon, Familiar RECCOMENDED BOW/ARROW: Bloody bow / Silver arrows RARE DROPS: ZENROC: Rough Oridecon,Old Magicbook, Shining Stone, Zenorc Card ORC SKELETON: Rough Elunium, Orc Helm. Orc Skeleton Card, Buster STEEL CHONCHON: Wind of Venture, Steel, Iron, S. Chonchon Card CHONCHON: Chonchon Card, Chonchon Doll FAMILIAR: Familiar Card, Ribbon, Falchino This dungen is amazing. I avoided it until level 70, and I really wish I hadn't. The EXP is great there, you can do great damage to everything in the dungen with Silver Arrows, the spawn rate is almost like Geffen 1, and the loot is good money. At level 70, I got ~.1% from each Zenorc. Combine this with doing insane damage to them, being able to basically dodge them all the time (or 95%, whatever), and getting the great loot, this is a great place to level and make money. WARNING: If you use a Falcon, you will often catch large groups of Zenorcs in your auto-blitz. This is because Zenorcs are looters, so whenever something is killed they all crowd around that area. Be carful of this. For this reason, I usually bring in ~100 Red Potions incase of an un-wanted mob. This dungen is also not a place to party in. If you are sharing the EXP even two ways, the EXP gets to be not worth the battle. This is a great dungen though, and I highly reccomend you spend some time here. 3. "Mids Level 4 ================ LEVEL RANGE: 70-85 MONSTERS: Mummy, Matyr, Isis, Ghoul, Mimic, Osiris(MVP) RECCOMENDED BOW/ARROW: Boned bow, Minorous bow / Silver arrows RARE DROPS: MUMMY: Rough Oridecon, Glove, Silver Ring, Mummy Card MATYR: Matyr's Leah, Rough Elunium, Matyr Card ISIS: Circlet (1s), Necklace, Cracked/3c/2c. Diammond, Isis Card GHOUL: Rough Oridecon, Skull Ring, Ghoul Card MIMIC: Old Purple Box, Old Blue Box, Emperium, Rosary, R. Elu. OSIRIS: Osiris Doll, Hand of God, Elunium, Oridecon, Osiris Card [MVP]Crown, Emperium, Eye of Dullahan This place is the best leveling spot for Hunters in my opinion at level 70+. You will see alot of Hunters around here, and there are plenty of mobs to go around. You can solo here with 185-190 possible flee, and coming here with a Priest works very nice. Unless you have a terrible flee or there is a huge mob, it's very hard to die here with a Priest. If you are soloing, no matter what your flee is, I would reccomend either a quad malicious or to bring 100 or so Reds each trip. The loot here is nice, and you can solo here quite efficiently until very high levels. The Osiris spawn can be kind of annoiyng at first, but just fly wing away when you see him. When you can MVP him though, he's one of the best MVPs for Hunters. Bewhere of the occasional large mob though, always carry some emergency fly wings. Another great thing about this place is that healing itmes drop very often, so when you're in trouble, it's easy to grab a healing item from a Matyr or a Mummy. Matyrs drop Monster Feed and Pet Food, Mummys drop Orange Potions. Matyr also drops Awakening potions if you ever find yourself in need of one. Have IC running constantly here as well. 4. Prison ========= LEVEL RANGE: 65-?? (You can stay here for a long time, but exp gets low) MONSTERS: Skel Prisoner, Zombie Prisoner, Hunter Fly, Brilight, Whisper RECCOMENDED BOW/ARROW: Boned, Insectoside / Silver arrows RARE DROPS: SKEL PRISONER: Sloted Formal Suit, Ball n' Chain ZOMBIE PRISONER: Iron Cain, Elunium, Ball n' Chain HUNTER FLY: Rough Wind, Steel, Rough Oridecon, Mini Propeller, 2 Slotted Damascus, Hunter Fly Card BRILIGHT: Wind of Venture, Rough Elunium, Stainer Card WHISPER: Whisper Card, Sloted Silver Robe, Star Dust Prison is located in GH, near the top of the GH map. It can be hard to find a party there, so try to bring a friend or a guild member with you. Soloing here is difficult, as even with 300 flee you will be hit 95% of the time, and Zombie/Skel Prisoners do about 800 damage and require ~200 flee to dodge. It is not the place to make money, but it is the place to level. At level 70~, going with just and a priest will be very fast EXP for both of you. With IC and AGI up, you should be able to dodge anything there 95%, assuming your build has AGI (ie, not DEX/LUK). AGI + Blessing + Gloria + IC + Silvers can kill prisoners very fast and they give alot of EXP. The Hunter Flys can be a bother, but they give nice drops and you should be able to handle them. I really wouldn't reccomend coming here with a big party, as you and a Priest can handle it fine and the EXP will get slow if the share goes more then 3 ways. I would highly reccomend this place if you have some AGI in your build. 5. High Orcs ============ LEVEL RANGE: 65-85+ MONSTERS: High Orc, Orc Archer, Dramiliar RECCOMENDED BOW/ARROW: Bloody bow / Crystal, Fire, Silver arrows RARE DROPS: HIGH ORC: R. Ori, Steel, Orc Warrior Card, Orcish Axe ORC ARCHER: 2s Gakkung, Non-slot Tights DRAMILIAR: R. Ori, Dramiliar Card This is one of my favorite leveling spots. The EXP here is amazing, the only problem is it's VERY crowded. You need a Priest with you as well, as it can get very mobby very quickly and they are high flee monsters. Anyone from level 65 to 90 can get decent EXP here, especially once you can solo. There will be alot of arrow switching involved here, so you should hotkey your Crystal, Fire, and Silver arrows in different hotkey slots. Use Crystal for High Orcs, Fire for Orc Archers, and Silvers to take out those annoying Dramiliars without wasting your Crystals or Fires. Having the right gear here is a neccesity. Without the proper arrows or bow, I did 350 damage to High Orcs. With Crystal arrows and a bloody bow, I did 650. The silver arrows are not neccessary, but once you see how hard it is to get a hold of Crystals you won't want to waste them on Dramiliars, and Fire does bad damage to them. Just a note, crystal arrows can only be recieved through the Arrow Crafting skill. 1 Blue Gemstone makes 10 arrows, 1 Crystal Blue makes 40, Mystic Frozen makes 150, Gill makes 5, Ancient Tooth makes 10, Fang of Hatii makes 100, and a Fin Helm makes 200. Not an easy arrow to come accross. What I do for my crystals is buy a mess of Blue Gemstones with my Merchant and craft them into crystal arrows. If you find any Crystal Blues or Mystic Frozens, use those. Don't use Fin Helms though, sell them. --------------------- XIV - Hunters and PvP --------------------- Hunters are a very powerful PvP class, and can take on most classes and most types of classes. The builds you will have the hardest time with are VIT characters, especially if they have a high DEX. They will hit you quite often for alot of damage most likely, while you hit them for 80's. Here is a detailed guide for PvPing each build type and class: 1. Class Type Guide =================== AGI CHARACTERS -------------- This group includes other Hunters, Assasins, AGI Knights, AGI Battle Priests, and AGI Blacksmiths. HUNTERS: When PvPing another Hunter who is close to your level, it's all about what equipment you have. Generally whoever can hit the other the most will win. A Falcon helps alot to, one auto blitz can be the difference between winning and loosing. Just shoot eachother, simple :). ASSASINS: This class is probebly the eassiest for you to take down, especially at high levels. This is mainly because an Assasin's strength is his/her ability to dodge most attacks. Well, what happens when that is taken away from them (your DEX)? They usually have low HP and bad defence so if you can hit them even 60% of the time, chances are you will win. If the Assasin is a crit Assasin however, chances are you won't win doing close range combat as the Assasin will almost always hit you and hard to. Your best bet against cirt Assasins is traps, and lots of them. Falcons work VERY well against Assasins also, even a manual Blitz Beat can be devistating as it won't miss and it will hit them hard. AGI Knights: This is basically the same as Assasin, except most Knights that are AGI are not crit Knights, which is very good. Knights usually hurt more then Assasins do, and they also will have alot more HP and DEF, making them generally harder to beat then Assasins. Just Double Strafe and Blitz Beat, you should usually win unless the knight has a good DEX. AGI Battle Priests: This is probebly one of the hardest types of charact- ers to beat. Although generally not for much, they can heal themselves as well as cast AGI UP and Bless, and even spells like Gloria and Kyrie can be devistating for you. If the priest has a low crit and low DEX, there isn't ALOT to worry about. But if he/she hits you alot, you could be in trouble. Plus, if they have Pneuma, you will most likely die. NOTE that it is possible to STUN a Priest with Pneuma up. You can try using a Quad Stun and hope you get lucky. AGI Blacksmiths: Blacksmiths generally have a very strong attack, so when they hit you it is going to hurt. Plus, skills like Hammer Fall, Mannonite, AD, and others can do alot of damage to you. Hammer Fall is probebly the worst, as it will stun you most of the time and you will never dodge the hard hits and probebly die before the stun wears off. Smiths + PVP = Bad =(. VIT CHARACTERS -------------- This group includes VIT Knights, VIT Blacksmiths, and VIT Battle Priests. VIT Knights / VIT Blacksmiths: These characters are probebly your worst enemies. Alot of VIT characters hit very hard, and many get a high DEX so they will be hitting you hard and doing it quite frequently. You will most likely not be able to do much damage to them, damage in the 80's, 70's, and even 40's is not very uncommon. Plus, they have Godly HP, especially the Knights. The Blacksmiths are even harder, as they are just like the AGI type listed above except you'll do horrible damage to them. VIT Battle Priest: This character can be one of the hardest to PvP, not just for Hunters, but for any class. They can use all those annoying skills the AGI Battle Priests can, and you'll do almost no damage. Plus, whenever you do damage them a bit, they can heal themselves. Unless you are considerably higher then the Priest, I'd avoid this character. OTHER ----- This group includes Wizzards, Support Priests, and Hybrid Knights. Wizzards: Depending on the Wizzard's equipment, this can be easy or hard. The good thing about PvPing a Wizzard is they usually have low AGI and DEF, meaning you can hit them alot and for basically all of your attack power. The bad thing is they have insane spells that can kill you in 1 instance of the spell. If the Wizzard has a Phen Clip, (enables you to continue casting spells while being attacked), things don't look to good for you. This is because a Wizzard's PvP stratagy generally consists of: 1) Frost Driver, 2) Jupitel Thunder. Frost driver is cast almost immdiately, and has about a 65% chance of freezing you. Once you are froozen, you become the water element. This makes the upcoming Jupitel Thunder pretty deadly. If the wizzard doesn't have a Phen clip, try to get in a shot while he/she is casting Frost Driver if you can. If you can't just hope you don't freeze and then double strafe them to death. Once you start attacking a Wizzard, they are usually powerless to stop you without a Phen clip. One, two, or maybe three dounle strafes usuallly does the trick. Support Priests: This class is suprisingly hard to take down, again esp- ecially if they have a Phen Clip. With a Phen clip, they can agi/bless/ kyrie/gloria/whatever themselves while you pummel them, then simply heal the damage you did to them in an instant. If they have Pnumea, you have no chance. If they don't, Just double strafe and hope they're low on SP. Hybrid Knights: Will do this one soon. 2. Equipment Guide ================== For PvP, high DEX and bloody weapons are your friends. Bloody means a Hydra card, it lets you do 15% extra damage to demi-human, other people are the demi-human type. Keep in mind the people in PvP are generally very high leveled and have good PvP specific equipment, so don't get discouraged if you die. Some use PooPoo hats (3% reduction from demi-human attacks), but an AoA or another popular headgear will do alot more for you. Good equipment is very essential in PvP, so if you plan on being a PvP/WoE build, save up for bloody weapons, over upgraded armor, and other rare items. If armed with the right equipment, a Hunter can devistate PvP. I have seen Hunters come in to a PvP area with some high leveled people and massacre everyone in about 15 seconds. 3. Things to Note ================= The most important thing is to not get cocky. Some Hunters think that they are the unquestionable Gods of PvP, and randomly attack anything that moves. Hunters CAN be strong, but they can also be killed quite easily by a crit character or a character with a 3x ancient weapon. Another thing is that a Falcon helps you out alot in PvP. Battles often end when the other person has something like 600 HP left. Well, if you had gotten 1 auto blitz in, you may have won. Falcon is ignore defence damage (for now), so it helps alot against VIT type characters as well. If you don't mind being insulted, you can use the actual skill Blitz Beat manually and just spam it on an AGI based char. -------------------- XV - Hunters and WoE -------------------- CURRENTLY BEING RE-DONE. CHECK BACK NEXT UPDATE. ------------------ XVI - Tips/Secrets ------------------ Hidden Skill Damage =================== In the descriptions of the skills Double Strafe and Arrow Shower, it does not give the damage per level of the skill. Here is how the damage raises for each: DOUBLE STRAFE: -------------- LEVEL 1: 200% Damage LEVEL 2: 220% Damage LEVEL 3: 240% Damage LEVEL 4: 260% Damage LEVEL 5: 280% Damage LEVEL 6: 300% Damage LEVEL 7: 320% Damage LEVEL 8: 340% Damage LEVEL 9: 360% Damage LEVEL 10: 380% Damage ARROW SHOWER: ------------- LEVEL 1: 80% Damage LEVEL 2: 85% Damage LEVEL 3: 90% Damage LEVEL 4: 95% Damage LEVEL 5: 100% Damage LEVEL 6: 105% Damage LEVEL 7: 110% Damage LEVEL 8: 115% Damage LEVEL 9: 120% Damage LEVEL 10: 125% Damage THE SECRET OF DEX DAMAGE ======================== Hunters are considered "cheap", mostly because a stat that most classes need to put in but in exchange for better stats, for you will also raise your damage. It's like STR raising attack power and accuracy for melee characters, except better since DEX raises damage much better then STR can. However, there is a secret to getting the most out of your DEX. You need to raise it in incriments of 10. For example, the difference in damage between a Hunter with 50 DEX and a Hunter with 57 DEX is not that great, but if the other Hunter had 60 DEX it would be a large difference. For this reason, it is a good idea to plan your stat builds so DEX ends up as a number divisible by 10. 160 DEX ======= Yes, the legendary 160 DEX. It can be achieved, but not easily and not without a Priest. With 160 DEX, you should be ablw to nail just about anything in the game and you will have insane damage. This is what you need to get 160 DEX: STATS: 99 DEX (+10 = 109 with job bonuses) EQUIPMENT: 2s Arbalest [+2 DEX] Apple of Archer [+3 DEX] Binoculars [+1 DEX] Rocker Tights [+2 DEX] 2 Zenrom Gloves [+4 DEX Each] SKILLS: Improve Concentration level 10 [+15 DEX with all gear/skills] Owl's Eye level 10 [+10 DEX] Blessing level 10 [+10 DEX] TOTAL: Base DEX (109) + Arbalest (2) + AoA (3) + Binos (1) + Tights (2) + 2x Zenrom Gloves (8) + IC (15) + Owl's Eye (10) + Blessing (10) = 160! HIT = 259! 45.7% AUTOBLITZ CHANCE ====================== If you're a Falcon Hunter and don't have any LUK equips but still have 99 LUK, your chance of an autoblitz will only be around 30%. This does not suit you to rely souly on your Falcon. However, with the right build and equipment, you can get a good ASPD, maximizing the efficiency of your attack time, and 45.7% autoblitz chance along with it. Here is how you can get 45.7% autoblitz: (See stats section and Falconer for more informaiton) STATS: 99 LUK = +103 LUK with job bonuses Decent amount of AGI Decent but lower amount of DEX (I choose 99 LUK, 75 AGI, 59 DEX with bonuses = 103 LUK, 81 AGI, 69 DEX) SKILLS: Improve Concentration level 10 AGI Up level 10 Blessing level 10 Owl's Eye level 10 [The above 4 skills are not needed, but they raise your ASPD which gives] [you a better chance of an autoblitz.] Gloria any level = +30 LUK for a short time EQUIPMENT: Quad lucky Composite Bow (Lunatic cards) = +4 LUK Bunny Band = +2 LUK 2 Rossaries = +4 LUK Tights with Poring card = +1 LUK (not needed) Crystal Pumps = +5 LUK Overall: 103 LUK + Gloria 30 LUK + Composite Bow 4 LUK + Bunny 2 LUK + 2x Rosary 4 LUK + Tights 1 LUK + Pumps 5 LUK = 149 LUK Put this into the autoblitz formula: [(3*LUK/1000)*100]+1. and get: [(3*149/1000)*100]+1 = 45.7. Your ASPD as previously stated also effects your chance of an autoblitz. ------------------------ XVII - What Bow and When ------------------------ It is very easy to get confused with what cards to use in which bow. A simple card combo or bow choice can be the difference between quite a large sum of damage you'll miss out on. First off, the basics: NEVER USE THESE BOWS: ===================== 1. Bow - Composite Bow has equal slots and deals more damage. 2. Great Bow - Cross Bow has equal slots and deals more damage. 3. Arbakest - Only use this bow in order to achieve 160 DEX or for an extra DEX bonus. Gakkung has equal slots and deals more damage. 4. Hunter Bow - Only use this bow when you have no specialized bow for where you want to go. No slots makes this a "default" bow. BOWS YOU SHOULD USE: ==================== 1. Gakkung[2] 2. Cross Bow[3] 3. Composite Bow[4] [ 4. Arbalest[2] ] And obviously, never use any bow that does not have it's maximum number of slots. Arbalest/Gakkung has 2, Cross Bow has 3, and Composite Bow has 4. WHAT TO UPGRADE TO: =================== 1. Arbalest: +7 2. Gakkung: +7 3. Cross Bow: +8 4. Composite Bow: +9 You can upgrae higher of course, but these are the reccomended minimums. WHEN TO USE WHAT BOW: ===================== LESS THEN 130 DEX: Gakkung 130-40 DEX: Cross Bows work here, but an upgraded Composite Bow will be far better. 140-160 DEX: Composite Bow. Use Arbalest if you're going for 160 DEX. Basically, the higher your DEX, the lower the damage on the bow needs to be and the more slots are availible in your weapons. MIXED CARDED BOWS: ================== This is the tricky part. I'm not going to get into formulas, I'll just give the simple facts. First off, if you have less then 130 DEX, don't mix cards, period. If your DEX is over 130, then it will greatly improve your damage. As an example, the MVP "Eddga" is fire property, and Brute class. You could do effective damage with a Quad Flamable Composite Bow or a Quad Clamorous Composite Bow. However, you're damage will be higher if you use a combonation of these bows. Using a Double Flamable Double Clamorous Composite Bow would be much more efficient. You can also take PvP as an example. Other players are Demi-Human and medium. You could use either a Quad Bloody or a Quad Boned, but the standard PvP bow for high DEX Hunters is a Double Bloody Double Boned. If there isn't a card that effects the property of the monster you are making the bow for, use size cards instead. Your damage will be less then if there were a property card for that monster, but you will still be dealing the max amount of damage possible with the bow. The AGI/DEX build is never effected, but traps and falcons really seem to get nerfed hard. Here are the changes that iRO has had so far: COMODO UPDATE - EPISODE 3.0 --------------------------- Comments: ========= This update is the one that kills Hunters the most. It is a "skill balance patch", and basically nerfs the Falcon and Ankle Snare as well all other traps. Read below for full information: Skill changes: ============== -Double strafe has been reduced from 15 to 12 SP -Arrow Shower's range has been increased to a 5x5 area from a 3x3 area When enemies are hit by Arrow Shower they are pushed back 2 cells -Improve Concentration skill now raises your DEX and AGI more and lasts longer. The new skill info is in the skill section -Flasher and Sandman's SP cost has been reduced to 12 -Freezing Trap's SP cost has been reduced to 10 -Beast Bane damage is now 4 extra damage per skill level. It now also effects brute and insect monsters -Ankle Snare's holding time is now effected by the monster's AGI. The holding time cannot go below 3 seconds. -While snared, all items including fly/butterfly wings and teleport may be used -Ankle Snare's SP cost has been increased from 10 to 12 -Skid Trap's SP cost has been increased from 5 to 10.The shove range of it has been increased from 6 to 10 cells. Trap Changes ============ -In PvP, you can step on your own traps -Invisible traps are visible to only the caster and those who were on the screen at the time the traps were installed. Traps can also be seen using a detecting skill -All traps have an 0.4 second install delay -Traps cannot be placed on cells that monsters are on -Traps cannot be placed on cells that hold another trap -Traps will not effect monsters who were in range of the trap when it was installed, unless they move out of range and then come back Falcon Changes ============== -A Falcon will only auto blitz once for every 10 job levels: Job levels 0-10: 1 attack Job Levels 11-20: 2 attacks Job Levels 21-30: 3 attacks Job Levels 31-40: 4 attacks Job Levels 41-50: 5 attacks You can still use blitz beat manually to deliver all 5 attacks -Falcon will no longer attack unless you are using a bow -If your attack misses, your Falcon will not attack -The Auto Blitz damage is now [Initial Damage / # of enemies]. So, if auto blitz normally does 1000 damage, with 2 enemies it will do 500, and so on. Manual blitz beat damage has not been effected TURTLE ISLAND - EPISODE 4.0 --------------------------- Comments: ========= This build doesn't effect Hunters at all. There aren't any actual nerfs like there were in the previous update, just the addition of monster skills and a great new dungen. ADDITIONS: ========== - Turtle Island with Turtle Dungem To get to Turtle Island and it's dungen, goto the Alberta Inn and talk to the old man NPC. Listen to everything he can possibly tell you. Then, goto the docks in Alberta and talk to one of the sailors, listen to everything he has to say. Now goto the ship and talk to the sailor, and he will take you to Turtle Island foe 10k. This isn't very descriptive, but you should be able to get help from someone waiting outside the TI ship. Turtle Dungen is a dungen for very high leveled characters, and you should always travel in a large party with one or more pirests. - Monster Skills For a complete list of all monster skills, see the official iRO website. Most monster skills are hamrless, but some of the higher leveled monsters and even some lower leveled ones have deadly skills you need to watch out for. These monsters include Sohee's Bash, Mino's Hammer Fall, Marduk's Fire Wall and Fire Bolt, and some others. JUNO UPDATE - EPISODE 5.0 ------------------------- The Juno update has many card changes, both good and bad. Nothing really effects Hunters all that much, so I will just list some key changes in the cards here, and a few minor changes reguarding Hunters. The card information was gathered through my in-game experience, and the other information was recieved through the iRO official website until News > iRO Updates. You can go to that section for a full list of changes in Juno. KEY CARD CHANGES: ================= -Roda Frog Card = HP +400, SP +50 -Pupa Card = HP +700 -Chonchon Card = AGI +1, Flee +2 -Whisper Card = Flee +20, 50% additional damage from the Ghost -Soldier Skeleton Card = +8% critical rate -Kobold Card = +4% critical rate, STR +1 -Lunatic Card = LUK +1, critical rate +1, lucky dodge +1 -Willow Card = SP +80 -Yoyo Card = Perfecr dodge +5, AGI +1 -Mummy Card = +20 Accuracy Rate -Andre Card = ATK +20 -Sohee Card = SP +15%, SP Regen +3% -Matyr Card = HP +10%, AGI +1 -Condor Card = Flee +10 -All Muffler Cards = Flee +5 Added NEW REGEN PATCHES ================= One of the best things about Juno is the new HP and SP regen patch. You regen HP and SP ALOT faster then before. It raises in large chunks instead of going up by 1 each tick. The exact formula for HP and SP regen is currently un- known to me. HUNTER SPECIFIC CHANGES ======================= -In WoE, long range attacks will do less damage to players -in WoE, traps last four times longer then normal -In PvP, you have a chance of being froozen by your own Freezing Trap -Freezing Trap's property has been changed to Water -Blast Mine's property has been changed to Wind -Claymore Trap's property has been changed to Fire -A new bow, the Repeating Crossbow, is now sold in Juno The only real nerf there is the WoE damage reduction, but magic spells also damage people less, so it's not that bad. See the "Hunters and WoE" section for more information. ------------------------------- XX - Frequently Asked Questions ------------------------------- WHAT IS THE BEST BUILD? There really is no "best build". Although, right now a falcon/trap Hunter probebly isn't the way to go as traps and falcons got heavily nerfed in the Comodo update. Each build has its own pros/ Further information regaurding stat builds is in the stat builds secrion. WHICH IS BETTER, AGI OR DEX? Both are equal, although in PvP DEX is more important then AGI, and is also required to hit most MVP monsters consistantly. WHAT ARE YOUR STATS/EQUIPS? At this time, my stats and equipment are as follows: ---------------------------------------------------- [With no gear or stat bonuses] LEVEL: 94/50 STR: 1 AGI: 90 VIT: 19 INT: 10 DEX: 88 LUK: 24 HEAD1: Apple o' Archer, PooPoo Hat, PhD Hat, other useless headgears HEAD2: Opera Masque, Binoculars HEAD3: Cigar WEAPONS: Assortment of standard Comp Bows ARMOR: Hard Tights GARMENT: Mocking Muffler FOOTGEAR: Green Boots ACCESSORIES: 2x Athletic Clips :( IS HUNTER THE BEST CLASS? Just like there is no best build, there is also no best class. As I said in the first part of this guide though, a Hunter's PROs outweigh the CONs. Hunters also have a tendency to be very powerful, but there is still no "best class". A typical Hunter specializes in fast and powerful attacks. Many choose to throw some falcon in. Other builds the Wizzard deal much more damage then a Hunter but are weaker where a Hunter is very strong. It's all aboutn what you want. WHAT ARE THE 2-2 and 3RD ARCHRER/HUNTER CLASSES? As many already know, a 2-2 class system is yet to be implimented into iRO. it will allow you to become a Bard or a Dancer instead of Hunter. Bards and Dancers are generally support classes although they can still fight a bit. Bard and Dancer is very different from Hunter, so check out the skill trees of both jobs at some fansites before choosing. The 3rd job, which is also yet to implimented into iRO, is when you reach level 99, you get turned into a Novice again. You then reach level 99 AGAIN. When you do, you can turn into a very powerful 3rd job class and go all the way up to job level 70. A Hunter turns into a Sniper, a Bard turns into a Clown, and a Dancer turns into a Gypsy. ARE HUNTERS GOOD IN PVP? Yes, they are generally very good in PvP. For more information on this see the "Hunters and PvP" section. ---------------------- XXI - About This Guide ---------------------- When I started RO over a year ago, I was originally going to be a Swordsman. However, my friend said he needed an Archer in his party, so he convinced me to pick the Archer class. I had one of the most screwed up Archer ever made. When I remade him at level 57, he had 19 STR and 13 VIT. I had no idea what I was doing, and as a result completely messed up my first character. I was probebly one of the worst RO players ever at that time. It took me about 3 months to reach Hunter, where as it would take me a week or less now. I ran around with an Egg Shell and Mr. Smile, frequently using the word "plz". I was the stereotypical RO idiot. This is the reason for which I made this guide, so other people don't need to work for 3 momths on something that can be accomplished in 1 week only to find out you need to delete the character. My little humurous contact section is not only to get people off my back, but to get people to stop talking like they've been hit with a blunt axe and have suffered mental retardation. I am hanging out alot in my guild spot outside Izlude, and constantly hear idiots going, "cAN I HAVE A HEAL PLZ! cAN I HAVE A HEAL PLZ?". It tends to get on your nevres. When I finally told one to "shut up", she told me I was "pissy" and walked away. Probebly to spam "PLZ TANK?????SUM1" in south Prontera. When I first started looking for Hunter Info, I came accross Giga Bahamut's FAQ. It gave me some useful starting info, but I really needed something more in-depth (plus, I think he said his guide is out of date now or something). So, I had to teach myself. I recreated my old Hunter as "Forever-Hunter", and slowly learned the basics of the class. I now consider myself knowledgable on the Hunter class, and thus I wrote this guide. The guide started off as having about 5 sections, I posted it on the old RO Empire forums (before they crashed) and the prontera.net forums. Despite the lack of completion / in-depth information, I got good feedback on what I had done up to that point. I decided to keep going, and soon had the entire guide completed. It was then time to submit it. I started with IGN.com, as it gave me a better chance of being accetped then GameFAQs. My guide got in, although I don't keep it updated there anymore. I then submited it to GameFAQs, I considered this the "ultimate test". It would prove whether or not my guide "had what it takes" to make it on the top FAQ source online. Unfortunately for me, it was rejected. The rejection reason was that it was "incomplete", which wasn't true. The reason I take it to have been rejected was because it didn't have enough content yet. So, I worked for a long time on it, adding section after section of in-depth content to the guide. Then, I re-submited. It got accepted, and I couldn't have been happier. Before that, I bad been answering questions in my thread at RO Empire, but this gave me a new chance to have thousands of people a day read my work. The rest is just history, and through many guide updates, it finally evolved into what you're reading now :). --------------------- XXII - Special Thanks --------------------- GRAVITY - Obvious reasons, everyone thanks them :) EVERYONE AT RO EMPIRE - For giving me feedback on the guide and encourageing me while giving support ALL SITES IN THE COPYRIGHT - For hosting my guide LIONHEART - For introducing me to RO PASTELLE - For tanking me, giving me stuff, giving adivce, etc o.o ALL OF LETHAL DEATH - For being the best guild I've ever been in DAIKYU - For being...Daikyu :p FROSTYTEHQUILLA - For getting a lucky kill in PvP on me with his Sage, /pif MEEP! - For being the first level 99 Hunter and having the guts to tell the GMs to give Kalisto a half-decent prize :) IROSUBGM4 - For putting up with all the idiots in Payon during the Lunar New Year event WORDPAD: For making this guide possible :p NON 3RD GRADE IRO PLAYERS: Both of them... I hope it helped you with your character and made things a little easier in the crazy world that is Ragnarok Online. Btw, please don't KS people. Archers have a nasty reputation for that and doing it more won't help :). If you want to contact me (for guide related issues), please read the contact section up top. -Forever-Zero
