With the TIE Advanced technology now lost, the Empire shifts focus to preserving the TIE Defender technology, which Zaarin's forces are now after. You must retake the TIE Defender factory and protect it against further attacks by the traitor Zaarin. Section 2: Mission 1-Capture Platform Overview: Zaarin's forces have captured the research facility where the TIE Defender was developed. You will team with Assault Transports to retake the platform. Your craft: TIE Defender Delta 1. You have 2 wingmen. Your craft is armed with 8 advanced missiles and the tractor beam. At the start, send your wingmen after the TIE Bombers and go after the Cargo Ferries. I recommend using 2 advanced missiles to soften them up, then disable them so you can finish them off later. Then help with clearing the Bombers and also disabling any Shuttles in the area. As new Cargo Ferries enter, go after them first-missiles and ions to disable them for finishing later. Soon after Assault Transports Omega enter, one of Zaarin's Escort Carriers enters and launches TIE Fighters. But these aren't ordinary fighters-someone notices these Fighters have Shields! They're not terribly tough, though. When the Escort Carrier's shields drop, disable it with Ions and help finish it later. Also remember to disable new shuttles as they appear and take out the leftover Cargo Ferries too-you can win without disabling them but you'll really be strapped for time. They don't stay around very long. When ISD Adarga arrives, hang around a while as all the captures & boardings can mean huge point bonuses! Primary Mission Goals: Destroy 75% of all Cargo Ferries. (You can let one escape and still win, but if two escape, you've failed) Destroy 75% of all TIE Bombers. Capture Platform R&D Lab. Secondary Mission Goals: Capture 50% of all Shuttles. Note that the Bonus Goals of capturing specific Shuttles below DO apply to completion of this goal. Destroy Escort Carrier Jitte. Bonus Mission Goals: 50% of TIE Defender group Delta must complete mission. (To get this bonus, your wingmen must survive. There's no guaranteed way-closest is to tell them to head home at the start and they'll fly around Start Position 1 until ISD Adarga arrives. Otherwise it takes luck & good shooting) Destroy 100% of all TIE Bombers. Destroy 100% of all TIE Fighters. Capture Shuttle Upsilon 1. Capture Shuttle Upsilon 2. Capture Shuttle Lambda 1. Capture Shuttle Lambda 2. Capture Shuttle Sigma 1. Destroy A-Wing Red 5. Destroy 100% of B-Wing group Blue. Destroy 100% of X-Wing group Gold. Destroy 100% of A-Wing group Red. Section 3: Mission 2-Hold Platform Overview: This is a mirror of the previous mission. Now that your forces hold the platform, it must be protected. Zaarin will send his own Assault Transports & TIE Defenders to attempt to retake the platform. Your craft: TIE Defender Delta 1. You have no wingmen. Your craft is armed with 8 advanced missiles and the tractor beam. At the start, Assault Transports are about to launch rockets at ISD Adarga. Intercept as many as you can-while the Adarga does not need to survive, it keeps the enemies from attacking the platform, which must survive. To have a chance at this, you must shoot down rockets whenever possible, but also note that it's completing mission is a Bonus Goal-but Adarga's shields must be gone for this to happen. There are 12 ATRs and 4 TIE Defenders escorting. This time disable the T/Ds if possible by using a missile then Ions. If a friendly craft goes for a disabled T/D, send it home. Each wave of ATRs has one replacement wave that appears when the first is destroyed so stay on them. About 9-10 minutes in, Escort Shuttle group Red Knight will arrive to assist you. After the Primary Goals are clear, watch for 2 Rebel Corvettes to drop probes. If you're fast you can get the Corvettes before they escape-put all power to engines then recharge lasers as you get close. If you have missiles left, use them. Take out the Probes for bonuses. Primary Mission Goals: Destroy 100% of all Assault Transports. Platform R&D Lab must survive. 100% of Escort Shuttle group Red Knight must arrive. Secondary Mission Goals: At least one of TIE Defender group Z-Alpha must be boarded. Bonus Mission Goals: ISD Adarga must complete mission. Utility Tug 3f1 (reload craft) must complete mission. Tug 8f9 must complete mission. Tug 7f9 must complete mission. Tug 6f9 must complete mission. Tug 5f9 must complete mission. Destroy Corvette Uhu 1. Destroy Corvette Uhu 2. Destroy 100% of Probe group Keyhole 1. Destroy 100% of Probe group Keyhole 2. Section 4: Mission 3-Protect Evacuation Overview: The platform can't be held much longer, so the T/D prototypes must be evacuated. All that is available is a Freighter and Shuttle. You are to provide cover for the evacuation. Your craft: TIE Defender Delta 1. You have no wingmen. Your craft is armed with 8 advanced missiles and the tractor beam. At the start you have time to go to full power and begin shield charge before the Freighter Mharsup arrives. It brings 2 more friendly Escort Shuttles with it-after this, the Shuttle G'nabgib appears to dock with Freighter Mharsup. Soon after the T/D prototypes enter and fly to the Mharsup. While this happens 6 Assault Gunboats enter and should be taken out. The Escort Shuttles will help but don't rely on them-note that E/S Red Knight 1 always gets taken out first. About the time this is done, ISD Glory enters the are and launches Transports to attack the Freighter, Bombers to attack the Shuttle, and TIE Advanced to attack you. Note that you don't have to save the platform this time-take out the Transports first (disable to make all bonus goals attainable) and disable T/As, but don't let T/B Z-Eta get away! They go for the G'nabgib and if they get to it, you've all but lost. Expert Tips: If you're going for gung-ho points, try this advanced trick: When the Primary Goals are complete, the Glory launches several waves of T/As. Try disabling the third in each group, take out all the Bombers, then attempt to disable the Glory. Then take out the T/As and finish off the Glory for big points! (You get 8000 just for taking out the ISD) Also, if you do this, you can get credit for some Bonus Goals even though the ships never appeared! Also, in early releases of the game you can keep the platform alive and destroy the Glory. In later releases, this is not possible. Primary Mission Goals: TIE Defender Proto 11 must complete mission. TIE Defender Proto 12 must complete mission. Freighter Mharsup must complete mission. Shuttle G'nabgib must complete mission. Secondary Mission Goals: None. Bonus Mission Goals: Destroy 100% of all Transports. Destroy 100% of Assault Gunboat group Z-Mu. Destroy 100% of Tug group 20f16. (Disable Transports to make them appear) Destroy at least one of TIE Advanced group Z-Alpha. Destroy at least one of TIE Bomber group Z-Beta. Destroy at least one of TIE Advanced group Z-Gamma. Destroy at least one of TIE Bomber group Z-Eta. Destroy at least one of TIE Advanced group Z-Theta. Destroy at least one of TIE Defender group Z-Zeta. Destroy at least one of TIE Defender group Z-Iota. Section 5: Mission 4-Escort to Rendezvous Overview; Having safely evacuated the base, you must escort the Prototypes to a rendezvous with and transfer to 3 Modified Corvettes. Your craft: TIE Defender Delta 1. You have no wingmen. Your craft is armed with 8 advanced missiles and the tractor beam. At the start charge up shields while it's just you & Freighter Mharsup. Shuttle G'nabgib is just a few seconds behind. Then you'll be joined by 6 A-Wings, soon followed by 4 B- Wings. You'll have enough time to kill 3 or 4 A-Wings before you need to attack the B- Wings. Then Transports enter escorted by X-Wings-these go after the Freighter and must be stopped. Don't forget leftover A-Wings-get them when the situation permits. When the Modified Corvettes enter, Assault Gunboats will be with them to help out. Prepare also for a Rebel Frigate-it stays around until you destroy 75% of all Rebel craft, and launches Y-Wings to attack the Modified Corvettes. If one or more Corvettes is destroyed, the mission is not lost. The Prototypes either will go to another Corvette or hyper out of the area. Note with the Transports-if they disable the Freighter, but DO NOT board it, a Tug should appear to repair the Freighter. If this Tug doesn't appear after all Rebels are eliminated, you must restart the mission. Primary Mission Goals: 100% of all Modified Corvettes must arrive. (Remember they don't have to survive- usually one does not) TIE Defender Proto 11 must complete mission. TIE Defender Proto 10 must complete mission. Shuttle G'nabgib must complete mission. Freighter Mharsup must survive. Secondary Mission Goals: None. Bonus Mission Goals: Freighter Mharsup must complete mission. This also achieves the Primary goal of survival as it leaves once the T/Ds are deployed. Destroy 100% of all Rebel craft. Destroy Frigate Hunu. Section 6: Mission 5-Trapped by Pirates! Overview: Your convoy has come out of hyperspace into a trap-a large ion cannon minefield. The prototypes are in danger of being captured, and Shuttle G'nabgib and it's data are lost. You must prevent the Corvettes from being boarded. Time is critical here. Gunboats are on the way to help but may not make it in time, so it's up to you.. Your craft: TIE Defender Delta 1. You have no wingmen. Your craft is armed with 8 advanced missiles and the tractor beam. As soon as you launch, start going after Transports, making sure to take out mines when possible (ignore Ibutho 1-no way to get it). These mines are Type 2-they have an Ion cannon. There's really no way to stop the Corvettes from being disabled, so get the Transports first to prevent any boardings. Once this is done, focus on clearing mines and R-41 Starchasers. Also try to keep your distance from the Strike Cruiser Intombe to avoid it firing on you. The key here really is keep your shield charge rate up and take out the Transports first thing. Then you can relax just a little. Primary Mission Goals: Destroy 100% of all capturing craft. (Transports) Destroy 100% of all mines. Modified Corvette Hashim 1 must survive. Modified Corvette Hashim 2 must survive. Modified Corvette Hashim 3 must survive. 100% of Assault Gunboat group Nu must arrive. 100% of Assault Gunboat group Tau must arrive. Secondary Mission Goals: None. Bonus Mission Goals: Destroy 100% of all R-41 Starchasers Section 7: Mission 6-Transfer Prototypes Overview: The pirates' trap was defeated, but the prototypes are still vulnerable. 3 Mssan Cargo Ferries are en route to receive the prototypes, but a Rebel strike force is in the area and must be eliminated. Your goal is to take them out before the Cargo Ferries are destroyed and guard against other threats. Your craft: TIE Defender Delta 1. You have no wingmen. Your craft is armed with 8 advanced missiles and the tractor beam. First, transfer all laser energy to shields, set laser & beam charge rates to zero, and go after the B-Wings. The Gunboats will get the rest. Once the B-Wings are gone, you can get the Rebel A-Wings and X-Wings. But while you're doing this, T-Wings & Y-Wings arrive-these are more pirates and may even attack the Rebels! But of greater concern is a Corellian Transport that captures Modified Corvette Hashim 1. There's nothing you can do to save it-you'll have to give it up this time, but you'll get your chance at these pirates later. After this Zaarin's T/Ds will show up so keep them busy. Also, Shuttle G'nabgib will be repaired and help out, but expect little there. If necessary, disable T/Ds and keep an eye on the Cargo Ferries. Mssan 1 leaves after the Corvette's capture, but Mssan 2 will dock with Modified Corvette Hashim 2 before leaving. If Mssan 3 leaves before you're done, just hyper out of the area. Then those pesky pirates from last time are back-take out one of their Z-95s to get a Bonus Goal. Also, this is the final time you fly a TIE Defender. Primary Mission Goals: Destroy 100% of B-Wing group Blue. Cargo Ferry Mssan 1 must complete mission. Cargo Ferry Mssan 2 must complete mission. Cargo Ferry Mssan 3 must survive. Secondary Mission Goals: Destroy 100% of TIE Defender group Z-Alpha. Destroy 100% of TIE Defender group Z-Beta. Destroy 100% of TIE Defender group Z-Gamma. Destroy 100% of TIE Defender group Z-Delta. Bonus Mission Goals: Destroy at least one Nami craft (coded purple in CMD). Destroy at least one Rneeki craft (coded blue in CMD). Destroy 100% of Z-Wing group Red. Destroy 100% of X-Wing group Gold. Destroy 100% of A-Wing group Azul. Post-battle cutscene: The Cargo Ferry that retrieved the T/D prototype in your last mission safely delivers its cargo to Vice Admiral Thrawn for transport to Coruscant. Thrawn also mentions a new starfighter that is in development that could give the Empire the advantage against Zaarin.
