For example, if you wanted to go the Walkthrough section you would highlight: WL*KT (with out the *). Once highlighted press ctrl+c (to copy), then ctrl+f (to find), then ctrl+v (to paste) and then finally hit enter to go to the desired section. If a search code is found in the text, it will be listed as: Section XX*XX. These codes will work only if you remove the '*' character. Item Search ----------- Looking for a particular item? Hit ctrl+f (to find) and type -ITEM NAME- then hit enter to go to info on the desired item. It is important that you use the '-' character, without spaces both before and after the item name. For example, typing: -Blue*Orb- (with out the *) into the find field would be correct. Not all items are listed, but most are. ================================================================================ 1. INTRODUCTION [INRO1] ================================================================================ Lament of Innocence was produced by the same team who made; Harmony of Dissonance, Aria of Sorrow, and the critically acclaimed and cult classic Symphony of the Night. All of which owe some homage to the NES game Simon's Quest. In Lament of Innocence you play as Leon Belmont, an 11th century nobleman and one of two knights who lead one of the most successful companies of the crusades. Mathias Cronqvist, the companies' tactician and Leon's childhood friend, comes home after a campaign to find his wife, Elizabetha had died while he was away. He became stricken with grief, and fell onto his sickbed. During this time Leon's domain became overrun with monsters, and his betrothed, Sara, has been kidnapped. Mathias tells Leon that these monsters are tied to a vampire who lives in a castle in the Forest of Enternal Night. Leon tries to get help from the Church, but refusing to let Leon use his company for anything besides the crusades, he is forced to renounce his title and enter the forest alone and unarmed. This is the beginning of how the Belmonts became hunters of the night. This is my first full length FAQ/Walkthrough. The goal of this guide is to provide comprehensive coverage of the game, Castlevania: Lament of Innocence, while giving away as little as the story as possible, but by no means is this guide spoiler free. In August 2005, this guide recieved it's last large update. It should now provide enough helpful information to guide you through your first time playing this game. As well as provide you with enemy and item indexes and basic information regarding the game's numerous alternative game modes. All in an (hopefully) easy to navigate format. -Shift *Warning* This guide does contain spoilers. This document is Copyright 2003, 2005 Joseph Mingoia. Note that saving will not fill your MP. * When your low on MP, enter a room with some Armor Knights (or their kin) or Astral Fighters. These enemies will constantly use attacks that will fill your MP, which are also easily perfect guarded. * Use Marker Stones and the Map to your advantage, they are very useful. * Set your healing items in the Pause Menu so that they are easily accessed via the Real-time Menu, you don't want to be fumbling through the menu when you really need a potion. * You can go back and forth to Rinaldo's Shop for the low, low price of $1000. First find a save point and save, then use a Magical Ticket($200) to warp to the shop, then use a Memorial Ticket($800) to warp back to the save point. ================================================================================ 3. WALKTHROUGH [WLKT3] ================================================================================ This walkthrough is ment to be used from beginning to end. Since there is so many different paths you can take, this one follows the one I believe to be the easiest and most effective way to get to 100%. This guide makes use of the in game map as well as the Marker Stone items to help navigate the levels. If you need help on a specific section(Search code: SH*SH) or item(IT*M0), use their respective sections below. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3a. PRELUDE TO THE DARK ABYSS [WLKA] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Whip of Alchemy, Marker Stone 1, Marker Stone 2, Svaorg Statue, Marker Stone 3, Map 1. Note: Any items listed here and in the following subsections of the walkthrough are obtained via this visit, and is not a complete listing for the section. If you need a specific section list or item, see their respective sections below. After the opening cut-scene head up the winding path to the castle gate. Enter and head through the west door(break the candles along the way to gain some hearts). Head through this hall to the unlocked door. This now starts the small tutorial: In the first room grab Marker Stone 1, jump up grab the potion and go to the next room. Grab the serum and whip jump onto the west balcony to get Marker Stone 2. Go on, kill the enemies and move on the fourth room. First fall down and grab the uncurse potion, then defy gravity as you whip jump to the other side, grab the magical ticket and exit. Run to the middle, grab the Svaorg Statue, and block the Golden Knight's attack to fill up your MP. Active your new relic and run circles around him, now exit and head back to the main room. This time go east, save your game in the room to the south, then continue east. As you enter this next room, the camera pans over to show you five small warp pads. This is the castle's hub to the 'bothersome' five bosses and the areas they guard. Go to the southwest corner to get Marker Stone 3. Ignore the south door for now, and head up the stairs to the warp pads. _______ / \ | 1 | \_______/ _______ _______ / \ / \ | 2 | | 5 | \_______/ \_______/ _______ _______ / \ / \ | 3 | | 4 | \_______/ \_______/ 1: House of Sacred Remains/Map 1 2: Garden Forgotten by Time 3: Anti-Soul's Mystries Lab 4: Ghostly Theatre 5: Dark Palace of Waterfalls Run up to the pad with Map 1, and enter the House of Sacred Remains. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3b. THE HOUSE OF SACRED REMAINS [WLKB] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: MP MAX Up, HP MAX Up(x2), Marker Stone 6, White Tiger Key, Bloody Cape, Blue Orb. Kill the Skeletons and head out the door. Kill the two Skeletons that spawn and head through the east door that unlocks. Kill all the enemies here(go for the archers first, they can be pain) and head through the next door. Step on the first verticle switch(left) and head back to the hallway. Go south, you'll be locked in a room with zombies, dispatch them and continue south. Kill the two Skeletons and save if you need to. Now exit via the east door. Destroy the enemies and jump up to the catwalks on three sides of the room, to get two 250$ bags and a high potion. Take the exit east. Purge the room, and then destroy the yellow candle to get the crystal subweapon. Jump onto the east catwalk and you'll see a door that looks unaccessible because of a grate. This jump can be made if your first jump is out, then turn toward the door with your second and whip the railing. If you can't make it after a few tries, mark the room 'blue' and skip the next paragraph. As you head down the hallway, kill the Bats, but don't worry about the Red Skeleton-all you can do is knock them down, they dont die. Grab the MP MAX in the next room and continue through the next hallway. You'll end up in a room with half a dozen Skeletons and a Heavy Armor, kill them, and grab the HP MAX from the floor, and the serum and uncurse potion from the catwalk. Go up to the bookcase on the east wall (has black circular marks on floor near it). Push on it's right side and go into the hidden room with the first triangle switch(topleft). Now head back to the hallway adjacent to the save room. Head through the west door, kill the enemies and grab the two 250$ bags and the neapolitan from the catwalks, head west. Get the 250$ bag on the east catwalk, switch out for an axe and head to the west catwalk for the next room. In the room after the hall way check the lofts for 500$ and continue on. In the next big room, again grab the money off the lofts and kill the Heavy Armor to unlock the door. Go in, grab Marker Stone 6 and hit the second triangle switch (topright). Backtrack to the room just west of the saveroom(save if you need to). This time head south. After two hallways and an enemy locked room, you'll come to another enemy locked room with an east and west exit. Mark this room 'red' and take the east door. This room will have two exits north, take the one thats farther west. The next main room is locked, wipe them out and go east. This next room has both a north and south exit, if you check the map you'll realize they're just hallways connecting two rooms you've been before. Make sure to set foot in both(needed for map completion) and take whichever way back to the room you marked 'red'. Head west and you'll see a small cut-scene of a bunch of Fleamen, kill the little bastards and follow the hall south. In this next room there are small dark shadows that move along certain sections of the floor, as long as you keep moving they can't hurt you. Gather up the money and head out the south exit (not the one the money trail leads to). After the hallway you'll be in a room that has a bunch of spikes shooting out of the track in the floor. Take the west door and hit the second verticle switch(middle). Go back into the spike room and take the east exit. The next main room will have both a north and south exit, mark the room 'red' and take the north door. Save, and turn east at thecross section, switch out to holy water and exit east. You'll come to another dark shadow room, grab all the money (don't forget the 1000$ bag in the northeast corner, right near the camera) and take the exit. Once you enter the spike room follow the path around and enter the first door you see. Mark this hallway 'white'(the door at the end is locked) and leave. Follow the path to the east door and hit the final vertical switch(right), now head back to the room you marked 'red'(south of save room). Once there grab the potion off of the south loft(whip jump to the lower level on either side) and take the south door. The next room has the vertical door, which will be flashing green if you've hit all the switches so far, continue on. In this room kill all the enemies (holy water works great against the Vassagos), get the 400$ bag from the loft and take the west door. Take this path to it's end(make sure to get the potion from the first room's loft) and hit the final triangle switch(bottom). Backtrack until you can go south again. You'll enter a long room with an alter and a locked door to the east. Stand on the switch in front of the alter, the camera will pan out showing you what to do-whip jump from each arch to the next until you safely pass over the impressive lightning field. Quickly enter the east door and switch out to a cross. Now enter basement floor one. Proceed through the hallway and kill the ever annoying Astal Fighters, take the east exit. At the end of the hallway is the triangel door. Note: if you didn't make the first floor jump (should be marked 'blue' on your map) you won't have the door unlocked, so mark this room 'yellow' and exit. Continue down the path and grab the White Tiger Key, now exit whence you came. Now head west, watch out for the Executioner in the next room, and go west again. Hang onto the cross, and enter the statue room. Hit the heads so that Horse, Lady, Horse, Lady, Lady, are facing out. Enter the now unlocked south door and grab the HP MAX Up. Now unlock the west door by hitting: Lady, Horse, Horse, Lady, Horse. Follow this path to it's end to obtain the Bloody Cape, equip it and head back to the room with the Executioner. This time head south. You'll come to a room with lasers patrolling sections of a bridge. If you need some hearts, drop down, otherwise wait for openings to cross the bridge, don't try jumping because you'll fall through the floor. Now save your game, kill the Executioner and enter the red boss door. Boss: Undead Parasite: ---------------------- Hit Points: 1200 (+300 or so per 'eye') Tolerance: None Weaknesses: Holy Water, Cross Recommend Equipment: Cross There are five holes in the 'ground' four of them have 'eyes' sticking out of them. Turn on the cross to keep the Souless away and thrash them. When attacking the two nearest to the door, be careful of the snake blindsiding you. After your finished (and a little light show) some red...thing pops out of the middle hole. Use the same strategy as the eyes, but watch out for the snake spiting flames. Every so often the red blob of whatever it is will switch holes. After it's defeated grab the Blue Orb and take the portal back to Rinaldo's house. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3c. THE GARDEN FORGOTTEN BY TIME [WLKC] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Earth Plate, White Bishop, HP MAX Up, Map 4, Jewel Crush, Marker Stone 5, Ring of Thunder, Whip of Lightning, Red Phoenix Key. Enter the shop and buy the Earth Plate(1000$), White Bishop(3000$), max out your Potions(1000$+) and MAKE SURE you have at least one Magical Ticket(200$) and one Memorial Ticket($800). Seriously you'll be kicking yourself later if you don't. Equip the Earth Plate, save, head back to the Hub room, and step onto the pad second from the left. Briefly enter the south door, mark it 'yellow'(another locked door) and exit. Go through the east door and follow this path until you come to a hallway with a door leading west. Inside is the first horizontal switch(middle), exit and continue south. After the next room is a hallway with a west door, enter and the camera will pan out showing a series of jumps. You can attempt them if you wish, but this guide will skip it until later. Either way drop to the lower level and collect the 400$ bag and the HP MAX Up(under stairs) mark the room 'blue' and exit. Switch out for an axe, go east and follow this to a save room. In the next main room grab Map 4, take the east exit and grab the potion on the floor. Go back through the door you entered and head south. After the hallway you'll fight three Gargoyles. Watch out for their magic attack as it can petrify you, and you need to perfect guard to stop it. Keep going south through the T-intersection. After a couple of rooms you'll end up on a locked door mark it 'white' and head back up to the T-intersection. Head east, in the next room you'll fight six Axe Armors and a couple Evil Stabbers, destroy them and move on. You'll enter another T-intersection, go south grab the 400$ bag from the first room. After the next two rooms you should be in another T-intersection near a save room. Save, and take the north exit out. Complete the next three rooms (grab the 400$ from the third) and head back to the save room. Save again if you need to, then head east. In this next room is a huge Man-Eating Plant and a Mist. Kill the Mist(it can poison you) and lure the maneater inbetween the vines the north side of the room. Once there do a couple of short combos on it until it opens up. Now use it as a step to the platform above, grab the 400$ and enter the door. Collect the Jewel Crush and hit the first triangle switch (bottomleft) exit and go east. Alright, another T-intersection (love that level design) hold onto your axe and head south. Follow this path to it's end to grab Marker Stone 5 and hit the second horizontal switch(bottom). Return to the last T-intersection. Head north until you reach another Man-Eating Plant room, kill 'em all(don't worry about the platform just yet...) mark the room 'pink' and continue north. After the second room the doors lock, kill all the enemies and take the north(left) door. After the hallway is the second triangle switch(bottomright). Hit it and head back down the hallway to the main room, this time take the east(right) door. The triangel door is here (still locked) mark it 'red' and go towards the south door. A tree is blocking the way, but as you approach the blue arrows will light up to the right, exit via the grate. Grab the Ring of Thunder, SAVE if you need to or not. Now head back to the room marked 'pink'. This time keep the Man-Eater alive, and lure it to the east side, near the vine. After a couple of short combos it opens up. Now use it as a step to the platform above, and exit. Be care of the Thunder Swords in this hallway, they can paralyze you. Once in the room with two statues, hit the switch behind the one closest to the door(a bunch of spirit will appear, ignore them) and then the one behind the other. A platform briefly gives access to the door, so hurry up and exit. This next room is the broken bridge room, clear it of enemies and grab the semi-hidden Heart MAX Up by the grate on the east side. You can't access the east room yet, so mark this room 'pink' and go south. Head up the winding staircase (fill up your MP on the way) and exit at the top. Hit the final triangle switch(top) and take th east door. Head through the next hallway, kill the Axe Armor, heal to at least 3/4 your HP, and enter the green boss door. SubBoss: Thunder Elemental: --------------------------- Hit Points: 1500 Tolerance: Lightning Weaknesses: Knife, Axe Recommend Equipment: Axe, Ring of Thunder, White Bishop He will start out by doing strings of slashes, one will break your block(unless perfect guarded) so quick step out of the way. He will also charge and slam his spear into the ground creating a decent size shockwave, do a couple quick steps back and use spinning edge(axe + blue). Once you wear him down to his yellow bar he will cast pillars of lightning, by either raise his spear or jumping and slaming it into the ground. Stay a medium distance away and hit him with spinning edge. Every now and again he charges, but these are easily dodged. As long as you have the Ring of Thunder he's a pushover. Once defeated the Whip of Lightning spawns in the middle of the room, grab it and use the MEMORIAL Ticket I told you to buy earlier. You should be in the save point just south of the room you marked 'red'. If not go the the northeast room out of the rooms in a 2x2 formation. Enter the now unlocked triangle door and grab the Red Phoenix Key. Now use a MAGICAL Ticket. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3d. ANTI-SOUL'S MYSTRIES LAB [WLKD] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Meteor Plate, Ancient Text 4, Map 2, Marker Stone 4, Wolf's Foot, Heart MAX Up, HP MAX Up, Yellow Dragon Key, Megingjord, Arctic Ring, Ancient Text 3, Ancient Text 1, MP MAX Up, "e'Tablet', Red Orb. Step into the shop and buy the Meteor Plate(2000$), max out your Potions (1000$+) and MAKE SURE you have at least one Magical Ticket(200$) and one Memorial Ticket($800). Equip the Meteor Plate and the Whip of Lightning. Save, head back to the Hub room, and step onto the pad first from the left. Kill the Skeletons then step through the east door. After a hallway and a large room, you'll enter another hall with both an east and west exit. Take the west, and save in the adjacent room. Return to the hall and go out the east door. This room is filled with Frost and Flame Zombies, take them out. On the east side is a statue, you can't do anything to it yet so mark it 'pink' and head south. Switch out for a cross and continue on. Purge the next room and head east. You've entered a corridor that has four south doors. Enter the first one from the east (first you see), kill the Zombies and grab Ancient Text 4. Skip the second room for now, grab Map 2 from the floor, and enter the third room. Kill the Axe Armor, pick up Marker Stone 4 and leave. Enter the next room get the 400$ and head back to the room I had you skip. Now head up to the second floor. Note: The west side of the map is still grayed out, but don't worry you will be coming back later. Exit the first room, your in another corridor with four south exits. Head west and enter the first door, get the 400$ and exit. Save and exit the hall from the west door. Grab the 1000$ from the chair and head north. Use the Red Key at the end of the hall and pick up the Wolf's Foot. Head back to the south hall. Enter the only south door you haven't been to yet, pick up a high potion, and mark the room 'yellow'. Now exit the hall from the east door. You'll enter a large room with a trolley. Jump on it, and then jump off at the first platform to grab a potion, mark this point 'red' and fall to the ground floor. Kill the two Skeleton Flowers, and head to the very north end. Run behind the huge pillar to get a Heart MAX Up. Go back up and wait for the trolley at the north end. Use it to access the east door for a HP MAX Up. Exit the trolley room via the northwest door. Follow the hallway to a room with a Red Ogre and a few Red Skeletons. Take the south door here (head north and save if you have to). Head south through the hall. In the next room DON'T go to the third floor yet, look for a yellow floor panel a few yards away from the exit. Stand on it, and decend to a hidden room on the first floor housing the Yellow Dragon Key. Now head to the third floor. Head north out of the first room. Follow this path until your in the second hall (heading east). Equip the Wolf's Foot relic, and enter the next room. Turn it on and run across the bridge as it crumbles behind you(if you screw up just exit and come back). Enter the east door for the Megingjord. Equip it over the Ring of Thunder and exit. Drop down for a potion and a high potion. Now return to the entrance to the floor. This time head south to another corridor with four south exits. Head to the far east end of the hall, there is a black painting here, that just happens to be a false wall. Jump through for the Arctic Ring. Now start entering each room while heading west. The first room has three Mad Drivers and the Ancient Text 3. The second three Axe Armors and a Super Potion. The third has three Hellhounds and the Ancient Text 1. The last has a Flame Demon a few Red Skeletons and a MP MAX Up. Take the west exit out of the hall. You should be in the observatory, hidden behind the northwest bookcase is a shortcake, grab it then jump onto the loft. Hit the switch and a series of jumps will appear. Complete them and enter the next room. In the far room is the "e'Tablet'. Now go back down to the second floor. Now head north. stop to save, and equip the Whip of Alchemy. Head through the red boss door. Go to the west side of the room and use the "e'Tablet', bringing the Golem to life. Boss: Golem: ------------ Hit Points: 1500 Tolerance: Lightning, Knife Weaknesses: None Recommend Equipment: Whip of Alchemy First Form: He has the standard one, two punch. A deadly jump attack that sends a large shockwave, capable of paralyzing. Finally a slam-the-fists-into- the-ground-causing-boulders-to-fall signature move. Fortunately, all of this moves are easily dodge using your air combos (you may get unlucky and hit by a random boulder). Every now and again he'll cower into a fetal position, and you won't be able to damage him. Just wait him out and continue the thrashing. Second Form: His right arm falls off revealing his shiny red core, guess what you have to attack? Stay a medium distance away while he does his quick swipes. When he raises his remaining arm, his fist will spin and then shoot off. Quickly dodge this and run up and do a combo on the core. Repeat five times, grab the Red Orb and enter the portal. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3e. COMPLETING THE HOUSE [WLKE] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Item: Black Bishop. Restock your potions and head back the the House of Sacred Remains. Note: if you made the jump earlier, skip the next paragraph. Return to the room you marked 'blue'. Kill all the monsters, and jump up onto the west catwalk. Use the Wolf's Foot and double jump towards the east door, and whip just as you see the rail. Enter the door and head down the hallway. Push on it's right side and go into the hidden room with the first triangle switch (topleft). Now head to the room you marked 'white'. If you didn't mark it, go the east spike room, and take the west door. At the door use the Yellow Key and grab the Black Bishop. Note: if you made the jump earlier, skip this paragraph. Go down into the basement and head east to through the room you marked 'yellow' for the White Tiger Key. Check your map, if a 'Complete' icon is shown under the map percentage, you're done here. If it doesn't make sure you've explored every hallway and room, use Section Help below for what you may have missed. Once completed, use a Magical Ticket. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3f. RETURN TO THE GARDEN [WLKF] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Saisei Incense, Purple Orb. Again restock and make sure to have at least one Magical Ticket. Save, and head back to the Garden. Head to the room you marked 'blue'(room with a series of jumps) make sure to fill up your MP on the way. Make the first jump to the next solid platform. Turn on the Wolf's Foot and jump of the southwest corner towards the door. Head down the hallway to hit the final vertical switch(top). Now exit, grab the axe out in the hallway and go all the way over to the room you marked 'pink' (broken bridge room). Take out the Ghosts and jump up to the standing part of the bridge. Use the Wolf's Foot and jump to the east door. Follow this path for the Saisei Incense. Now check your map and backtrack towards the last part of the first floor that is still unexplored, which should be the northeast corner. Exit east from there and continue until you are in a room with several odd looking statues. Destroy the statue in the northeast corner to reveal a door. Save, and enter the red boss door. Boss: Medusa: ------------- Hit Points: 2000 Tolerance: None Weaknesses: Axe Recommend Equipment: Axe, Black Bishop, Optional Equipment: Perseus' Ring (rare drop by Gargoyles) After her little speech, start dodging her attacks. When shes close her hair will try and bite you. She can charge up and turn into a ball, and her gaze will of course petrify you. All of these are easily dodge with a couple of quick steps. Just keep dodging and throw spinning edges(axe + blue) right at her face. When you deplete her life to yellow, she will start spitting snakes, turn on the black bishop and use an air combo. She will also summon small rocks around her that will shoot toward you after awhile. Just keep dodging and using spinning edge. Once(if) you run out of hearts, just use the black bishop and thrash her to death. After the cutscene grab the Purple Orb, and enter the portal. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3g. THE FIRE WHIP [WLKG] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Ring of Fire, Heart MAX Up, Whip of Flames. After the cutscene restock, save, and head to hub room. Re-enter the Garden. Enter to the room marked 'yellow'(south door out of start). Head through the horizontal locked door for the Ring of Fire. Go back to the hub room via the Garden's entrance. Now enter the Anti-Soul's Mystries Lab. Take the west door from the start, and complete the map of the first floor. Head to the second floor trolley room, to the platfrom you marked 'red'(first one on right, riding north). Move to the south end and you should see a yellow pole of to the right. Whip-jump it and the next. Grab the Heart MAX Up of the top of the pillar. Equip the Ring of Fire over the Bloody Cape. Now enter the green boss door. SubBoss: Fire Elemental: ------------------------ Hit Points: 1500 Tolerance: Fire Weaknesses: Ice Recommend Equipment: Ring of Fire, Black Bishop As you may have guessed he is just the fire version of the Lightning Elemental. As such equiping the Ring of Fire makes him less of a boss and more like a regular enemy. He has the standard string of swipes, and the slaming of his sword into the ground to make a shockwave(well more of a fire tornado). When at yellow bar he'll start shooting streams of flame across the ground. No big deal just wait for openings to use the black bishop and thrash him to death. Once defeated, the Whip of Flames spawns in the middle of the room, grab it and use a magical ticket. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3h. RECAP 1 [WLKH] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now that you are over half way through the game, take the time to make sure you have the following: HP: 240 MP: 240 Hearts: 110 Items: -Event: Marker Stones 1-6, Maps 1, 2, 4 Ancient Texts 1, 3, 4 -Keys: White, Red, Yellow -Whips: Whip of Alchemy, Whip of Flames, Whip of Lightning -Armor: Meteor Plate -Relics: Black Bishop, Svarog Statue, Saisei Incense, White Bishop, Wolf's Foot -Orbs: Blue, Red, Purple -Accessories: Bloody Cape, Megingjord, Jewel Crush, Arctic Ring, Ring of Fire, Ring of Thunder House of Sacred Remains: Completed Garden Forgotten by Time: Cleared Anti-Soul's Mystries Lab: Cleared 56.2% of map completed. If you have more, you went down into the Castle Entrance's basement. If you have less, check to see you have all of the above. If your still short, you probably missed a hallway somewhere. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3i. GHOSTLY THEATRE [WLKI] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Map 5, Aroma Earring, Ancient Text 2, Black Turtle Key, Moonlight Plate, Marker Stone 7, HP MAX Up(x2), Heart Brooch, MP MAX Up, Lucifer's Sword, Curtain Time Bell, Brisingamen, Yellow Orb. Now save and head back the the Hub room and enter the last pad from the left. In the first room, start replenishing your hearts and head south. After the hallway you'll come to a rather large room with a winding catwalk guarded by a skull statue that likes to spit lasers(ha, what a castle). Anyway, drop down for a heart repair and a few Skeleton kills. Now head back up to the catwalk and stand next to the statue. Notice that whenever you look towards it the laser stops. So face hit, hold guard and strafe across, take the exit south. Mark this intersection 'red' and take the west door. Clear this room out, grab the potion near the base of the stairs and continue west. Follow the hallway around into another laser-spiting statue room. Drop down for a high potion, then navigate your way across the catwalk to the east door(don't go to the lower catwalk quite yet). Once in the main room, kill the two ogres and enter the next room for Map 5. Now backtrack to the statue room and take the lower catwalk to the south door. In the next main room, kill all the enemies, grab the 400$ near the stair's base and take the north door. Take out all the spirits and zombies and grab the Aroma Earring from the floor. Go back and take the west door. Proceed through the hallway and you'll enter a room with four red statues and for blue statues. As well as a red circle that will follow you around the room... hurling boulders at you. Position yourself so that your next to one of the blue statues when the boulder hits. After a bit of whip-jumping make sure you destroy all four (grab the Ancient Text 2 while your here). Once the blue ones are destroyed, the east door unlocks, enter grab the Heart MAX Up and exit. This time destroy all the red statues to unlock the south door. Enter, kill everything inside, grab the potion from the floor, and take the south door. Alright, another room filled with enemies waiting do die, fulfil their wish and take the east door. In the next main room, kill the three Shadow Wolfs and exit (you can't do anything here). Go back through the hallway, and take the door south. Follow this hallway into a room filled with one of my favorite enemies, Astral Knights! Fill up your MP then kill them, enter the hallway to the north and then exit back out(for map completion). Take the south exit and head up to the second floor. Save while you can and head east for another catwalk room. Mark this room 'yellow', drop down for a mana prism and navigate your way to the door. Enter and grab the Black Turtle Key. Now use a magical ticket, enter the shop and buy a Moonlight Plate. Head back the intersection on the first floor marked 'red'. This time head through the east door. When you first enter head to Leon's right for Marker Stone 7. When your finshed clearing out the room, grab the 400$ off the floor and continue east. After the hallway is another boulder crushing statue room, destroy them and head south. Kill the two Shawdow Wolfs and save your game. Once you enter the spike room, make your way to the long white area next to the south wall. Postion yourself on the east end and whip jump the pole (it blends in, this may take a few tries). Enter the room for a HP MAX Up, now exit to the spike room and take the east exit. After the hallway, grab the 400$ of the floor and head south. Kill everything here, grab another 400$ and conitnue south. Clear out this room and head east. At the end of this hallway use the White Key and grab yourself the Heart Brooch. Head back through the hall and then head south. You'll come to another room with Astral Knights, fill up your MP, then kill them...slowly. Enter and exit the north door (for map completion) and then head south to the second floor. Once in the spike room, make your way to the small white area in the middle of the east wall. Jump up and whip the pole, grab the MP MAX Up from the ledge and enter the door. Grab the Lucifer's Sword relic, head back the spike room and take the north door. Kill all the spirits and use the Axe Knight to refill your MP, then exit to the west. Switch out whatever subweapon you have for the knife and take the south door into a dark room. This room is pitch black, except for a small white light around Leon and a small red light that 'guides' you through it. Follow the red light to the southeast door, remember that you don't always have to double jump to reach the next platform. Grab the Curtain Time Bell and exit. Follow the red light back to the first doorway, exit back out into the hall and reenter the dark room. Jump onto the first red lit platform and move to it's southern edge. If you look closely you should see another platform just to the south, do a single jump onto it. Now move to this platform's southwest corner, use the Wolf's Foot and take a leap of faith to the southwest corner. Once there, enter the door and grab the Brisingamen. Enter the dark room and purposely fall off to exit to the hallway. Take the west exit, take out everything here, and head south. Kill the two Skeletons, save and head north. Remember that empty room with the three Shadow Wolfs earlier? Well thats where you'll end up if you fall, so DON'T. Run (don't jump) across while waiting for an opening (if you jump, you will fall through). After this next hallway, you'll be on the upper balcony of a large room(the same room where you fought the Ogres earlier). Don't fall down yet, follow the path north until you see a HP MAX Up, grab it, then fall down. Take the south exit and then enter the red boss door. If you follow this section all the way, you should have the 'Complete' icon under the percentage on the map screen. Now make sure you have the Fire Whip equiped, then open up the real-time menu and use the Curtain Time Bell. Boss: Succubus: --------------- Hit Points: 1000 Tolerance: None Weaknesses: Fire, Knife Recommend Equipment: Knife, Whip of Flames, Ring of Thunder, Black Bishop After watching Leon's quick steppin' action, start smacking her around. She has quite the arsenal of moves, but is still an easy boss. Once the battle begins several flower type things spring out of the floor, they can poison you, but are easily avoided. She can shoot green rays from her hands, a variant of which can restore MP. She is able to quickly dodge as well as make two copies of herself. She can also turn into a tornado, suck your throat, paralyze you with lightning, and summon a vine to chase you around. All you have to do is, hit her with the fire whip, and for kicks you can use needle claws (knife + blue) whenever she stays still. After she regrets fighting you grab the Yellow Orb, and enter the portal. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3j. DARK PALACE OF WATERFALLS [WLKJ] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Map 3, Marker Stone 8, Draupnir, Little Hammer, HP MAX Up(x2), Whip of Ice, Mediative Incense, Blue Dragon Key, MP MAX Up, Heart MAX Up(x2), Raccoon Charm, Green Orb. After listening to Rinaldo's sad story stock up on potions and tickets and save. Now head back to the Hub room, equip the Lightning Whip and enter the fourth pad from the left. Either run past or kill (I suggest kill) the Skeletons and head south. After the Fish Men try to ambush you, destroy them. Notice the fork in the road, this level is filled with them, mark this one 'red' and take the right(west) path. This next room is enemy-locked (there are alot of these in this level as well), kill them and continue on. At this fork take the left(south) path. Head south through the main room, switch out for an axe, and enter the next room. You'll enter a room with a large switch, hit it a few times until you get a message. Now backtrack to the last fork. This time take the right(west) path. Kill everything in the first main room, and then in the following hallway. In this next room there is a single Flea Man hopping around. Once you kill him, a couple dozen drop form the ceiling, just turn on Spirit Ripper(axe + orange) and watch them be mercilessly slaughtered. Now go through the east door, then turn around and come back in(needed for map completion). Now you can kill the Flea Men all over again, but this time head south. Take the right path and hit up the save room. Now take the left path to a room filled with Skeleton Soldiers, a Heavy Armor and then Vassagos. Take them out, grab Map 3, and exit. Follow the bending hallway to a room with Marker Stone 8 on the floor. Take the southeast door for a nice view of that bridge you lowered. Turn around and enter the basement floor two. Mark this fork 'blue', take the right(west) path for a room guarded by Flea Men and Mermen. Use the Spirit Ripper to take them out, then enter the northwest door. At the end of the bending hall is a door covered in ice. Take out your Fire Whip and melt the ice (remember to re-equip the Lightning Whip). Then enter and grab the Little Hammer. Backtrack to the Flea/Merman room and head south. You'll enter room a with large swinging axes, navigate through them and continue south. This next room has a couple of Frost Demons and Heavy Armors, take them out carefully and head through the south door. Mark this fork 'yellow' and take the left(south) to a save room. Now backtrack all the way back to the first fork of the floor, the one marked 'blue'. From this fork, take the left(south) path to another room with large swinging axes. Navigate your way through to another enemy-locked room, kill them and enter into a large hallway. Turn southeast and kill the Cyclops. Use the Black Key on the door in the middle of the fork to net yourself the Draupnir. Go back to the fork and take the left(east) path. Get past the Mermen and the Cyclops for another switch, hit it and go back to the fork. Take the right (south) path and kill another Cyclops. Continue through the bending hall, to a deadend filled with serveral Lizard Men. Take them out, break the candles for a couple 250$ bags and grab the HP MAX Up. If you followed this guide completely, you should have 80.0% of the map complete. Now return to Rinaldo's shop via a Magical Ticket. Rinaldo now has the Solor Plate for 15000$. If you don't have that much, your current armor is worth 2000$ (un-equip first) and the Aroma Earring you picked up in the Theatre is worth 5000$. Scratch together the money and purchase one. Now head back to the first fork in the Palace, the one marked 'red'. From here take the left(east) path. Kill the enemies in the next room and head into another forked hallway. Kill the Mermen and take the left(east) path. Wait by the orange candle for a Heavy Armor to spawn, but DON'T kill him, instead, lure him to the end of that path and get him to attack the wall blocking the way. once the wall is destoyed enter and kill the Axe Armor blocking your path. In this next room, drop down to the lowest level for a 1000$ bag. Then start whip jumping. Enter the first door you see and grab the HP MAX Up. DO NOT ENTER THE SKULL DOOR! Instead mark the room 'green' and exit. Now, from the platform with the door, face the camera and do a double jump towards it. You should have landed on another small platform, now start the next series of whip jumps. Grab the super potion, and equip the Artic Ring and the Whip of Flames. Once at the top, enter the green boss door. SubBoss: Frost Elemental: ------------------------- Hit Points: 1500 Tolerance: Ice, Holy Water, Crystal, Cross Weaknesses: Fire Recommend Equipment: Whip of Flames, Artic Ring, Black Bishop Let's see here, you have the Artic Ring (she barely hurts you) and the Whip of Flames(her weakness), does she even count as a boss? Anyway she's just like here Fire and Thunder counterparts. She has the standard swipes, an ice ray that shoots from here hands and can even throw snowballs at you! The only move you need to worry about is her little shockwave that can paralyze you, and then watch out as you get hurt for...5HP. After the 'battle' grab the Whip of Ice and head back to the room with the skull door, marked 'green'. Enter the skull door and you'll be warped to a mini game, the objective of which is to grab all the 10$ coins that are floating around. Fortunately, as you move through the tunnel they will always be in groups on the left, and then the right. So when you get the first set on the right, run to the left for the next set, then back to the right ect. Don't worry about the spikes- they're damage is negligible. Once you grab all the coins a chime will ring. Move to the center of the platform and grab the Mediative Incense. You'll find yourself in the waterflow switch in basement floor two. If you missed the Mediative Incense, don't worry about it now. Make your way to the western fork you marked 'yellow'. Save, equip the Ring of Fire and take the right (west) path. SubBoss: Doppelganger: ---------------------- Hit Points: 1000 Tolerance: None Weaknesses: None Recommend Equipment: Ring of Fire, Black Bishop After it 'copies' you and forms the fight begins. He has all of your whip combos as well as serveral holy water attacks. Just simply use the Black Bishop and keep pounding on him, once in yellow health he'll start using a mean fire kick, so try to quick step out of the way. He's fairly fast and blocks alot, but has low HP and fairly easly dispatched. After you beat him he jumps into the water and the doors unlock. Continue through the winding corridor and switch out for a cross. The next room has another Skull door, don't take it yet, instead mark the room 'white' and take the south door. You'll come to a room with three lampposts, whip all three in the time limit and the door will unlock. The next room houses the Blue Dragon Key, grab it and return to the Skull door. Again, the sets of coins will come right, left, right ect. This time the prize is a MP MAX Up. Your now back on the west wing of the first floor, save while your here, and head over to the first fork of the east wing, via foot or magical ticket. This time take the right (south) path. Continue until your in another swinging axe room. Move between the first and second axes and do a double jump to the ledge on the west side. Grab the Heart MAX Up, and either equip the Wolf's Relic and jump to the east side, or try and whip jump there. Either way you net the Raccoon Charm. Fall back down and continue south. You'll enter another forked hallway, this time though, your coming from the left path. Save, and head down the right(east) path. You'll come a large outdoor room, with serveral poles for jumping. First take out all the Vassagos and Rune Spirits, then grab the heart repair from the ground. Then start whipping, the second and third tiers have a 400$ bag each. The forth and last has a room housing a Heart MAX Up. Head back to the save room, and equip the Whip of Ice and the Ring of Fire. Now head southwest, cross the bridge and enter the red boss door. Boss: Joachim: -------------- Hit Points: 1500 Tolerance: Knife, Axe, Crystal Weaknesses: Ice, Holy Water, Cross Recommend Equipment: Cross, Whip of Ice, Ring of Fire, Black Bishop After the cutscene you'll notice that Joachim's swords make him invulnerable. Take this away by destroying the white orbs that the three corner statues are holding, while dodging his swords and flame geysers. Once the three are destoryed, he temporarily loses his shield. Use the Black Bishop while hitting him with your whip and either Michael's Sword (cross + purple) or Divine Cross (cross + blue). Once his sword shield comes back, just start over again. Once he's life bars are depleted, he and Leon will have another exchange (notice Leon's amazing comprehension). Check the map for the 'Complete' icon, grab the Green Orb and enter the portal. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3k. LOOSE ENDS [WLKK] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Tool Bag, White Orb. After talking with Rinaldo and gaining some backstory, head back to the castle. Once you enter, the seal of the Five Monsters will expire, ignore it for now, you have bussiness with the Hub room. After saving head back to the Garden. Now make your way to the far southwest corner, the one you marked 'white'. Use the Blue Key and grab the Tool Bag. Check the map for the 'Complete' icon. Now leave the Garden and return to the Hub room. This time, save, and enter the Lab. Head to the statue room on the east side of the first floor, the one marked 'pink'. First, kill of all the zombies. Then take out your Fire Whip and repeatedly hit the statue until it turns bright red. Now quickly switch to the Ice Whip and attack it until it crumbles, revealing a door, enter and grab the White Orb. Check the map for the 'Complete' icon, and use a magical ticket. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3l. RECAP 2 [WLKL] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now that your through the bulk of the game, take the time to make sure you have the following(list does not include rare drops): HP: 280 MP: 280* Hearts: 140 Items: -Event: Marker Stones 1-8, Maps 1-5, Ancient Texts 1-4, Tool Bag -Keys: White, Red, Yellow, Blue, Black -Whips: Whip of Alchemy, Whip of Flames, Whip of Lightning, Whip of Ice -Armor: Solor Plate -Relics: Black Bishop, Little Hammer, Lucifer's Sword, Meditative Incense*, Svarog Statue, Saisei Incense, White Bishop, Wolf's Foot -Orbs: Blue, Red, Purple, Yellow, Green, White -Accessories: Bloody Cape, Megingjord, Jewel Crush, Heart Brooch, Draupnir, Arctic Ring, Ring of Fire, Ring of Thunder, Raccoon Charm, Brisingamen House of Sacred Remains: Completed Garden Forgotten by Time: Completed Anti-Soul's Mystries Lab: Completed Ghostly Theatre: Completed Dark Palace of Waterfalls: Completed 84.7% of map completed. *=These items are found by collecting all the coins in the Palace's Skull Tunnel Mini-games. The entrance to the Meditative Incense should be marked 'green' and the MP MAX Up 'white'. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3m. PAGODA OF THE MISTY MOON [WLKM] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Vampire Killer, HP MAX Up(x2), MP MAX UP, Heart MAX Up, Unlock Jewel. Head through the door in the Castle Entrance that was previously sealed. This will trigger a long cut scene. After which you gain the Vampire Killer and end up back at Rinaldo's house. Save, and reenter the Pagoda. This level is alot more straight forward then the last. The second room contains a complete arsenal of subweapons. Since you don't need anything specific, grab your favorite (I prefer the cross) and move on. In the next room drop down and grab the super potion from underneath the stairs. Then climb back up and naviagate your way across the bridge (remember not to jump) to the door. Kill the two Spartacus in the next hallway, equip the Ring of Fire and the Vampire Killer and enter the door. SubBoss: Doppelganger: ---------------------- Hit Points: 1500 Tolerance: None Weaknesses: None Recommend Equipment: Vampire Killer, Ring of Fire, Black Bishop He's the same guy you fought before, but without his whip. Instead he has two fists of fire, which he uses to do various combos on you. He still has some of his holy water attacks(you can gain MP from the cross blazer), and is still fairly quick. Just dodge or block his attacks then do a combo on him, just keep switching off, and he'll fall first. Grab the HP MAX Up from the middle of the room, and head north. The next hallway is occupied by a Gaap and two chaos swords, if you get paralyzed or petrified, you could be in trouble. The next room has two Phantoms which can drop the Crystal Skull relic, mark this room 'yellow' for future reference and head north. Here is another laser bridge room, there's nothing on the ground floor, so ignore it. Navigate the path to Leon's left (west), your going to have to jump this time, but make sure you land on the silver platforms and not the brown, or you'll fall through. This next main room is the only place where Mirage Skeletons spawn, since they drop the Invincible Jar, mark the room 'green'. Now enter the two adjacent rooms for a MP MAX UP, and a Heart MAX Up. Return to the bridge room and take the east door to the second floor. From the first hallway, head west. You'll enter another lamppost room, ignore the locked door for now and head south. Kill the two Red Ogres and enter the huge lobby. Enter the east room, mark it 'red' and leave. Save your game in the west room, and return to the lamppost room. Hit all the lamps (need to do a whip jump) while dodging the shadow. Quickly enter the now unlocked east door pass through the hall, and kill all the enemies in the following main room, now head south. Run through the enemies guarding the long hall. In the next room, kill the Gargoyle and take the east exit. Follow this path around, filling your MP as you go. Once you reach a door heading due north, enter it. Alright another dark room, follow the red light to recieve the final HP MAX Up. Now follow the light the large platform in the center, stand on it's west edge and double jump to a unlit platform. Use the Wolf's Foot relic and do a leap of faith to another unlit platfrom in the northwest corner, from here you should see the blue arrows coming from a door. Do a regular double jump to the door and grab the Unlock Jewel. Now exit and purposely fall off to return across. Complete the circler path back to the long hall, then use a magical ticket. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3n. ITEM HUNTING [WLKN] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Coin of Happiness(x2), Assassin's Necklace, Cleric's Ring, Crystal Skull, Invincible Jar, Member Plate, Perseus's Ring, Tailsman, Qigong Belt. If your just going for 100.0%, but not every item, you can skip this section entirely. However, if your are going for everything, now is a good time to start. Most of the rare items that you find here are very helpful in the upcoming battles. Note: it can take alot of time to find all these items. To start off, you need some luck, so equip the Raccoon Charm and Fire Whip and head to either the Lab or Theatre. In each of these stage's second floor, there is a room filled with Hanged Man, which should be marked 'yellow'. Keep killing them until you recieve two Coin of Happiness. Equiping both coins and the Raccoon Charm will raise your luck to 40, greatly increasing the chances of getting a rare drop. Crystal Skull: Rare drop of Phantoms, which are found on both Pagoda floors. The easiest place should be marked 'Yellow'. Invincible Jar: Rare drop of Mirage Skeletons, which can be found in the most northwestern room on the Pagoda's first floor, marked 'green'. Member Plate: Rare drop of Spartucus, which can be found on the Pagoda's first floor. Perseus's Ring: Rare drop of Gargoyles, which can be found in the Garden as well as the Pagoda's second floor. For a list of what each enemy can drop, check out section EN*ML. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3o. PRISON OF ETERNAL TORTURE [WLKO] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Item: Black Orb. Enter the shop and stock up on Potions, Serums, and Uncurse Potions. Now head back to the Hub room. Remember that door I told you not to go into? On the south side of the Hub room? Well, enter it now. Follow the stairs down into the basement, pick the high potion up off the floor, and save. Equip the Whip of Ice, Draupnir, and Cleric's Ring(if you have it) and Assassin's Necklace(If you have it). If you don't have the last two, use the Megingjord and the Brisingamen. Then use the Unlock Jewel on the east door. Follow the stairs to the red boss door. Boss: Forgotten One: -------------------- Hit Points: 4800 Tolerance: Fire, Lightning, Cross Weaknesses: Ice Recommend Equipment: Whip of Ice, Draupnir, Megingjord, Brisingamen Optional Equipment: Assassin's Necklace (rare drop of Evil Stabbers) Cleric's Ring (rare drop of Executioners) First Form: This form is very easy with the Cleric's Ring, all you have to do is to keep doing air combos on his lower abdomen. If you don't have a Cleric's Ring, the Maggots that he drops down will curse you. Cursed = no skills = no air combos, so quickly use an Uncurse Potion. Same goes if you get poisoned, but that rarely happens. Second Form: In this form it's Leon versus the Forgotten One's left arm. He has a wicked backhand, which goes left to right on the screen, a generic shockwave creating fist pound, and when he slams his fist on the far right of the screen, he will quickly move his arm from right to left. All of these attacks can be dodge by simply jumping over them, and after each one, his hand will stay still, giving you time for a combo or two. Once you lower him to his yellow bar, he will raise his hand and try to bleed on you, his blood is poisonous, so hold of on attacking until he starts doing something else. Third Form: He will attack using his breath. When he just breathes in air, keep attacking him, while stones(which come from where?) fall over the platform. Once he starts breathing, and the air around glows, he will unleash a very powerful ray. Hide behind one of the uncracked rocks until he's done. Once he's depleted to yellow bar, the ray attacks become more frequent and will last longer. Just combo him between breaths, and retreat to a rock before the ray. After he's defeated, grab the Black Orb and save. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3p. ENDGAME [WLKP] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: 'VI' Tablet, 'IV' Tablet, Dragon Crest. Return to Rinaldo's house and max out your Potions and get a Memorial ticket. Grab the crystal subweapon, on the way to the Pagoda's second floor. This time, take the east door out of the first hallway. Proceed through the next hallway and the following main room. Once you enter the long hallway, take care, if that Gaap petrifies you, those Lizard Knights will tear you apart. Follow the circular path around until you get to the middle room. Grab the 'VI' Tablet and mark the room 'white'. Now head back to the room you marked 'red', completing the circular as you go. Once there, put the 'VI' Tablet into the relief, and hit the switch. Take the 'IV' Tablet out. Make sure to save in the nearby room, and head back to the room marked 'white'. Once there, insert the 'IV' Tablet into the statue's relief, this will unlock the north door. Enter and grab the Dragon Crest, now use the memorial ticket to return to the save room. Save, and head out into the huge lobby, head north if you need to fill up your MP, otherwise, go south. Before you unlock the door, equip the Vampire Killer, the Ring of Fire, the Tailsman (if you have it) and the Assassin's Necklace(if you have it). If you don't have the last two, use the Megingjord and the Draupnir. Then check your map percentage, if it's 99.6%, your fine, if it's not, you missed a room some where. When your ready use the Dragon Crest and enter the gold boss door. Boss: Walter: ------------- Hit Points: 1500 Tolerance: Knife, Axe Weaknesses: Holy Water, Crystal Recommend Equipment: Crystal, Vampire Killer, Ring of Fire, Draupnir, Megingjord Optional Equipment: Assassin's Necklace (rare drop of Mad Drivers) Tailsman (rare drop of Lizard Knights) After the cut scene simply run up and smack him with the Vampire Killer, this triggers another scene and the real fight begins. Walter has a wide range of projectile attacks, including huge balls of fire, and small white orbs that will home onto you. He can also summon serveral medium sized geysers from anywhere in the room, and if you get to close to him, he may use a wicked uppercut. Fortunately, most of these attacks are fire based, so the Ring of Fire helps alot, but will not leave you invulnerable as most of these attacks are already very powerful. After he does a few attacks he will teleport to a different point in the room, so the Satellite (crystal + orange) becomes fairly helpful. Once you deplete his blue bar, he will periodically teleport onto the throne, say "Behold my power!" as he transfers into a daemon and cretes a huge shockwave. This can easily be dodge by waiting it out by the entrance. Try not to use any MP in this battle, as you'll need it all for the next. Once Walter is defeated, another long cut scene will occur and you'll be transported to a different dimension to fight: Boss: Death: ------------ Hit Points: 4444 Tolerance: None Weaknesses: None Recommend Equipment: Vampire Killer, Ring of Fire, Draupnir, Megingjord Optional Equipment: Assassin's Necklace (rare drop of Mad Drivers) Tailsman (rare drop of Lizard Knights) To start of, heal as much as you can from the last battle, but don't over heal and waste a potion. Note that you can not use any subweapons against Death, he has a force field that will send a counter attack your way. Fortunately, Death is an easy enemy to guess what he's going to do, since he more or less tells you. Whenever he says "Die!" hes going to shot white orbs of homing energy at you, stay a medium distance away, and either quick step at the last second or go for the perfect guard. "Minion" will summon half a dozen floating skulls, they will follow you around and explode if they get to close. He can use his scythe in two different ways, the first is a simple double slash, punishment for those who try to combo to long. The second, he will spin it around his head and throw it towards you. Just do a double jump followed by a Falcon Kick right at him to dodge and put you in a nice attacking postion. After each attack he has a small cool down where you can get a short combo in, he will then move to another part of the circle. Once you deplete his blue bar, he will stop doing "Minion" and replace it with "Deadly Tempest". "Deadly Tempest" is, as it's name implies, deadly, keep moving so the first beam doesn't hurt you, then do a single jump over the shockwave, and repeat for the second beam. Now use the Black Bishop and really pound into him, as this move has the longest cool down. Just keep moving and heal when you drop below half your bar, and you will beat him. After Death's ummm...death the ending will ensue. Enjoy it and make sure to wait out the credits for an extended epilogue and some info on some of the secert modes. *Game Over* ================================================================================ 4. SubBoss: Fire Elemental: ------------------------ HP: 1500 Tolerance: Fire Weaknesses: Ice Recommend Equipment: Ring of Fire, Black Bishop As you may have guessed he is just the fire version of the Lightning Elemental. Once defeated, the Whip of Flames spawns in the middle of the room. Red Orb: Required: Kill Boss Required Item: "e'Tablet' Head into the boss room and go to the west side of the room, insert the 'e' Tablet(to spell emeth) and fight the boss. BOSSES [BSS07] ================================================================================ Strategies for Crazy and Joachim Mode are largely incomplete. Just keep in mind that Crazy mode bosses are harder. Joachim bosses require different strategies, due to his different playstyle, but I never wrote a guide to them and am now too far removed from the game to do so. If you have a strategy, mail me. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7a. MAIN BOSSES [BSSA] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Topics Covered: Normal Mode Strategies, Crazy Mode Strategies, Joachim Mode Strategies. --------------------------- - UNDEAD PARASITE --------------------------- Location: House of Sacred Remains-BF1 Hit Points: 1200 (+300 or so per 'eye') Tolerance: None Weaknesses: Holy Water, Cross Recommend Equipment: Cross There are five holes in the 'ground' four of them have 'eyes' sticking out of them. --------------------------- - GOLEM --------------------------- Location: Anti-Soul's Mystries Lab-2F Hit Points: 1500 Tolerance: Lightning, Knife Weaknesses: None Recommend Equipment: Whip of Alchemy First Form: He has the standard one, two punch. --------------------------- - MEDUSA --------------------------- Location: Garden Forgotten by Time-1F Hit Points: 2000 Tolerance: None Weaknesses: Axe Recommend Equipment: Axe, Black Bishop, Optional Equipment: Perseus' Ring (rare drop by Gargoyles) After her little speech, start dodging her attacks. --------------------------- - SUCCUBUS --------------------------- Location: Ghostly Theatre-1F Hit Points: 1000 Tolerance: None Weaknesses: Fire, Knife Recommend Equipment: Knife, Whip of Flames, Ring of Thunder, Black Bishop After watching Leon's quick steppin' action, start smacking her around. --------------------------- - JOACHIM --------------------------- Location: Dark Palace of Waterfalls-BF1 Hit Points: 1500 Tolerance: Knife, Axe, Crystal Weaknesses: Ice, Holy Water, Cross Recommend Equipment: Cross, Whip of Ice, Ring of Fire, Black Bishop After the cutscene you'll notice that Joachim's swords make him invulnerable. --------------------------- - DOPPELGANGER --------------------------- Location: Pagoda of the Misty Moon-1F Hit Points: 1500 Tolerance: None Weaknesses: None Recommend Equipment: Vampire Killer, Ring of Fire, Black Bishop He's the same guy you fought before, but without his whip. Instead he has two fists of fire, which he uses to do various combos on you. He still has some of his holy water attacks(you can gain MP from the cross blazer), and is still fairly quick. Just dodge or block his attacks then do a combo on him, just keep switching off, and he'll fall first. --------------------------- - WALTER --------------------------- Location: Pagoda of the Misty Moon-2F Hit Points: 1500 Tolerance: Knife, Axe Weaknesses: Holy Water, Crystal Recommend Equipment: Crystal, Vampire Killer, Ring of Fire, Draupnir, Megingjord Optional Equipment: Assassin's Necklace (rare drop of Mad Drivers) Tailsman (rare drop of Lizard Knights) After the cut scene simply run up and smack him with the Vampire Killer, this triggers another scene and the real fight begins. Once Walter is defeated, another long cut scene will occur and you'll be transported to a different dimension to fight: --------------------------- - DEATH --------------------------- Location: Pagoda of the Misty Moon-2F Hit Points: 4444 Tolerance: None Weaknesses: None Recommend Equipment: Vampire Killer, Ring of Fire, Draupnir, Megingjord Optional Equipment: Assassin's Necklace (rare drop of Mad Drivers) Tailsman (rare drop of Lizard Knights) To start of, heal as much as you can from the last battle, but don't over heal and waste a potion. Alternate Strategy ------------------ The following was written by Sean "Nightmare" McMillen and is unaltered except to fit the format. Recommended Hardware: Vampire Killer, Cross, Draupnir, Sacrificial Doll, Invincible Jar Make sure you have full HP and MP, as well as 9 Potions and High Potions (trust me, I cursed a lot during this battle about that) as well as a Sacrificial Doll. Now, you're coming into this fight hot off the heels of your fight with Walter, so use a Potion and equip the Sacrificial Doll. He/She/It's (Death) is going to start with a homing attack most likely, so get into your guard stance, and when the energy's close, nail a Quick Step. When you get in there, just whack at him using preferably the big attack button 3 times, or if you can manage it, combo off like this: Triangle, Triangle, Square, Square, Square. That usually does around 200 points of damage depending on if you have the Draupnir equipped. Another attack to watch out for is the Minions. These are relatively easy, just when they get close, make them turn red and do the Extra Evade (the one following the Quick Step) and get right back in Death's face. Also, his scythe attack (the spinning one that he throws at you) is usually relatively easy to evade. All you have to do is Quick step out of the way. Now as to the other, well, just don't stay in one spot comboing on Death for too long. Ok, you've got him down to yellow, he's going to stop with the Minion's attack, and switch up to "Deadly Tempest." This is where the Invincible Jar comes in. As soon as you see the flame shockwaves, activate the jar and keep pounding at Death. When the second wave is gone, turn the jar off to save MP. Just lather, rinse, and repeat, and soon you'll have defeated Death. And that, as they say, is that. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7b. OPTIONAL BOSSES [BSSB] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Topics Covered: Normal Mode Strategies, Crazy Mode Strategies, Joachim Mode Strategies. --------------------------- - FIRE ELEMENTAL --------------------------- Location: Anti-Soul's Mystries Lab-2F Hit Points: 1500 Tolerance: Fire Weaknesses: Ice Recommend Equipment: Whip of Ice, Ring of Fire, Black Bishop As you may have guessed he is just the fire version of the Lightning Elemental. --------------------------- - THUNDER ELEMENTAL --------------------------- Location: Garden Forgotten by Time-2F Hit Points: 1500 Tolerance: Lightning Weaknesses: Knife, Axe Recommend Equipment: Axe, Ring of Thunder, White Bishop He will start out by doing strings of slashes, one will break your block(unless perfect guarded) so quick step out of the way. Once defeated the Whip of Lightning spawns in the middle of the room. --------------------------- - FROST ELEMENTAL --------------------------- Location: Dark Palace of Waterfalls-BF1 Hit Points: 1500 Tolerance: Ice, Holy Water, Crystal, Cross Weaknesses: Fire Recommend Equipment: Whip of Flames, Artic Ring, Black Bishop Let's see here, you have the Artic Ring (she barely hurts you) and the Whip of Flames(her weakness), does she even count as a boss? Anyway she's just like here Fire and Thunder counterparts. She has the standard swipes, an ice ray that shoots from here hands and can even throw snowballs at you! The only move you need to worry about is her little shockwave that can paralyze you, and then watch out as you get hurt for...5HP. After the 'battle' grab the Whip of Ice. --------------------------- - DOPPELGANGER --------------------------- Location: Dark Palace of Waterfalls-BF2 Hit Points: 1000 Tolerance: None Weaknesses: None Recommend Equipment: Ring of Fire, Black Bishop After it 'copies' you and forms the fight begins. --------------------------- - FORGOTTEN ONE --------------------------- Location: Castle Entrance-BF2 Hit Points: 4800 Tolerance: Fire, Lightning, Cross Weaknesses: Ice Recommend Equipment: Whip of Ice, Draupnir, Megingjord, Brisingamen Optional Equipment: Assassin's Necklace (rare drop of Evil Stabbers) Cleric's Ring (rare drop of Executioners) First Form: This form is very easy with the Cleric's Ring, all you have to do is to keep doing air combos on his lower abdomen. ================================================================================ 8. SECRETS [SCR08] ================================================================================ This section is where you can find about the various modes, some items, and an useful glitch. This section just gives basic infomation on each mode; how to unlock it and general gameplay info. If you're looking for the 'secret' rooms or items that can be found in normal mode check Sections: SH*SH or WL*KT. Only secrets that require the game to be beaten are found here, with the exception of duping. Quick List: ----------- All Skills Mode: Complete Normal mode once, start a new game and enter your name as: @LLSKILL Crazy Mode: Complete Normal mode once, start a new game and enter your name as: @CRAZY Joachim Mode: Complete Normal mode once, start a new game and enter your name as: @Joachim Pumpkin Mode: Complete Joachim mode once, start a new game and enter your name as: @Pumpkin Boss Rush Mode: Kill every boss on any mode and enter the new portal that appears in the 'Hub'(level select) room. Jade Mask: Complete Normal mode and it will appear in the shop for $999. Music Box: Complete Normal mode and it will appear in the shop for $3150. Item Duplication: See below. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8a. ITEM DUPLICATION [SCRF] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First off this trick will make the game very easy so use at that risk. In order to duplicate an item you must already have at least one. Go to the hallway right outside of the the Castle Entrance's first floor save room. Now, while heading east (towards Hub room door) stand inbetween the second and third candles. If you would look closely at the carpet you will notice that the light coming in from the window is an odd colour. Stand on this section of the carpet and face the window. Now open the pause menu and go to items, keep pressing up and down and your items will increase by one each time, up to the max (9 on Normal Mode, 5 on Crazy Mode). Repeat as desired. If this does not work, try moving around a little until you find the right spot. Note: There are other places, namely the on Pagoda's second floor, where this trick will also work. This glitch was fixed for the PAL release and WILL NOT work with the PAL version of the game. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8b. BOSS RUSH MODE [SCRB] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To unlock this mode, simply beat ALL of the bosses and then reload that save file (there should be a star in the upper right corner of the save). Now head to the Hub room and there will be a new portal that has opened up. Enter the portal and you will immediately start a timed battle with a Flame Elemental. After you beat each boss a couple of big hearts and potions will appear on the floor. This will give you time to heal and change your equipment for whichever boss is next. However the clock will still be running so be quick. Order: ------ Flame Elemental Frost Elemental Thunder Elemental Doppelganger 1 Doppelganger 2 Undead Parasite Golem Succubus Medusa Joachim Forgotten One Walter/Death You don't get anything for completing this mode. It just here to add a nice challenge and some reply value. It's worth it to play through at least once, and then again to try and beat your time. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8c. CRAZY MODE [SCRC] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To unlock this mode, which is a harder version of Normal mode, you must complete Normal mode once, then start a new game and enter your name as: @CRAZY Crazy mode ups the game's difficulty quite a bit. In this mode, the enemies in most rooms change. Enemies that are only found in the Pagoda in normal mode appear elsewhere in crazy. Often with allies that compliment their weaknesses. Additionally, you can only carry up to 5 of each item, down from 9 in normal mode. Your normal guard will also break very easily, and to pull of a perfect guard, your timing must be perfect. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8d. HIDDEN CHARACTER ONE [SCRD] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To unlock this mode, where you play as the vampire Joachim Armstar, you must complete Normal mode once, then start a new game and enter your name as: @JOACHIM Playing as Joachim is very different then playing as Leon. When you first start up, you will be given a prompt explaining how to use Joachim's weaponry, which is quite a switch from Leon's. Joachim cannot use or equip items, though he is still able to upgrade himself. He also cannot make some of the jumps from normal mode, but special platforms will appear to aid him. Joachim's game is much shorter, but it does add some nice replay value. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8e. HIDDEN CHARACTER TWO [SCRG] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To unlock this mode, where you play as the secret character Pumpkin, you must complete Joachim mode once, then start a new game and enter your name as: @PUMPKIN This game came out around halloween, so this is more of an easter egg. If you feel like going through the game another time, here's your excuse. The gameplay is similar to Leon's, but they added a new subweapon. Have fun. ================================================================================ 9.
