[5] [ Characters ] Coming Soon! [6] [ Walkthrough ] [ Zanarkand ] Following the introduction, you'll find yourself in Zanarkand with a crowd of fans waiting for you not too far ahead. Speak to all the fans who are carrying Blitzballs. Upon doing so you'll be asked to select a name for your character. After signing the blitzballs, the story will continue. Listen to the story if you'd like, otherwise, just continue down the road and you will come to the entrance of the stadium. Move past the crowd of fans to enter the stadium. After Zanarkand is attacked, you'll find yourself at the exit of the stadium. Follow the stadium to a man in red standing calmly to the side. Follow the stream of people running from the stadium to the next area. After a confusing cutscene, you'll meet with Auron once again on the highway. You'll then be faced with a dilemna of escaping from Zanarkand, along with a hefty amount of Sinscales. There's an unlimited source of Sinscales, so don't attack all of them, it would just make matters a lot more difficult. Cut through the Sinscales only in front of you to make an escape route. [ Sinspawn & Sinspawn Ammes ] Further along you should encounter a few more Sinscales and a blank. Fortunately, this is where the Overdrives come in. Use Auron's Bushido by selecting 'Attack', then moving the analog stick to the left. Select Dragon Fang and press the following series of commands shown on the screen. You'll then only need to defeat the Sinspawn Ammes. The Sinspawn Ammes cannot defeat you directly. Instead, it uses a magical skill known as 'Demi'. It takes off a portion of your hit points (HP) which depends on the amount of HP that you currently have. The Sinspawn Ammes has no other attack that it can use, so don't bother wasting a Potion if you run low on HP. Simply continue attacking the monster until you defeat it. - - - Continue along the path once you've defeated the Sinspawn Ammes. You'll then encounter the Sinscale. They resemble the Sinspawn, only they are much tougher. After a few hits Auron will direct you to the Tanker on the side of the bridge. From this point on in the fight, direct all of your attacks to the Tanker. If the Sinscale start to flicker their wings, attack it immediately, otherwise they will release an attack called 'Spines' which can deal quite a bit of damage. Once you have destroyed it, the bridge will fall and the story will continue. You'll now find yourself underwater. Press the circle button to submerge deeper, and look more a young man on one of the platforms. Following another cutscene, you'll awaken in the Submerged Ruins. [ Sumberged Ruins ] Continue north to a set of three platforms northeast of your starting location. Once there, proceed to the far side of the platform and open the treasure chest to reiceve 200 Gil. Jump back into the water and head directly to the west side of the map. Continue along the platform, past the Al Bhed sphere to locate another treasure chest containing two Potions. Locate the red arrow to the north to find another path. Follow it to the next area. Locate the Save Sphere next to Tidus, then follow the narrow supports north, then west to locate a treasure chest containing a Hi-Potion. Return to the main path, then continue north and the supports should collapse. Continue south, away from the save sphere in the distance, and you should encounter three Sahagins. Defeat the first two, and you'll encounter Geosgaeno. The remaining Sahagin will flee. [ Boss: Geosgaeno ] Another fight that shouldn't be too difficult. After taking two or three hits from the monster, the battle will be finished. I'd suggest not to bother using your potions, as this is another fight which you can't lose. There's no real strategy here, simply attack and be attacked until the battle finishes. [ Ruins ] After fighting with the Geosgaeno, you'll find yourself in a cold, dank corridor. Continue up the stairs to enter the main hall of the Ruins. Locate the Save Sphere southwest of your starting location. Your job here is to find a few supplies needed to start a fire. First, let's head through the entrance to the north of your starting location. Continue up the flight of stairs. Near the exit, examine an urn hanging on the wall to find the 'Withered Boquet' Exit through the entryway at the top of the stairs to reach the upper level of the Ruins. Make your way around all of the fallen structures to a treasure chest at the far side of the hall. Open the treasure chest to recieve a Hi-Potion. Return to the previous room, then to the main level of the Ruins. Once you have reached the main level of the Ruins, head to an entryway located directly next to the save sphere. Directly in front of you, you'll see a broken table with an open drawer. Examine the drawer to locate the Flint and return the the main level of the ruins Use the save sphere to save your progress as you are about to engage in a difficult fight. Once you are ready, examine the campfire in the center of this room. [ Boss: Klikk ] Kilkk doesn't have any special attacks, so this battle is relatively quick. Attack Klikk whenever possible, and use potions when you run low on health. Eventually, the Al Bhed will blow open the side entrance the ruins and Rikku, a young teenage girl will help you through this fight. You'll first have control over what Rikku does for this fight. The only option you have at this time are Grenades. Select 'Special', then 'Use', then 'Grenade'. This will also deal significant damage to Klikk. Rikku will have one more Grenade handy, use it when you need to. Other than that, simply defeat this monster with regular melee attacks. - - - Locate the Save Sphere in the far left corner of the deck. Also locate an Al Bhed Primer at the far right corner of the deck. Speak to Rikku to learn about the Sphere Grid, then speak to her again when you're ready to continue. Once you've dived into the water, submerge deeper into the ocean and follow the chain to continue to the next area. From here, follow the chain to the underwater structure.to arrive at the Underwater Ruins. [ Underwater Ruins ] Locate the Save Sphere directly behind behind your starting location. You may have to submerge a bit to locate it. Locate the computer terminal on the far side of this room and examine it to gain access to the next room. Then, locate a corridor on the opposite side of this room. Defeat the piranhas and examine the mechanism in the alcove. Return to the main room to encounter Tros. [ Boss: Tros ] Tros has a few heavy attacks, so have Tidus cast Cheer on the party. This will raise the party's strength and defense, weakening attacks made by Tros, and strengthening attacks made by Tidus and Rikku. Tros will eventually swim to the other side of the room, when this happens, the only thing you will be able to do is 'Stand By' and wait for his Nactilus Charge, which will deal heavy damage to your party so make sure they have sufficent health. The second time Tros heads to the other side of the room, Tidus will have a new ability waiting, so use the Trigger Command 'Pincer Attack' to counteract this strategy. Grenades also work quite well against Tros. They will deal significant damage. - - - Once Tros has been defeated, follow the red arrow on the mini-map to exit the Underwater Ruins, then again and you'll arrive back on the Al Bhed ship. Use the save sphere to save your progress, then return and speak with Rikku once again for the story to continue. [ Besaid ] Make your way to the shore where Wakka and the rest of Besaid Auroch brothers are. After a short cutscene, look for Wakka on the path leading into Besaid. Also locate a Save Sphere on that same path. The path to the left is unaccessible at this point in time, so for now, just follow Wakka down the east path. Follow the path until you reach a cliff, where Wakka will jokingly push you into the water. Continue to follow the river and Wakka will suddenly ask you to join the Blitzball Tournament. Following this cutscene, you'll find yourself back on dry land. Make your way down the slope and you'll encounter Luzzu and Gatta, two of the Crusaders. Crusaders are a group of people who you will encounter and learn more about as the game progresses. For now, just make your way to the bottom of the hill and into Besaid Village. If you would like to know who or even what the Crusaders are, head for the tent. It's the furthest building on the left hand side. Once you're ready, continue to the temple at the north end of the village. Head to the center of this room. Following a brief conversation with the priest, return outside to the village. Once back in the village, head for the second tent on the right side of the village to locate Wakka. Upon speaking with him, accept when he asks for you to take a nap, and the story will continue. After another strange dream, return to the village and proceed back into the temple and into the Cloister of Trials [ Besaid - Trials ] Examine the glyph on the northw all. Upon doing so, another glyph should appear on the east wall. Examine and touch the glyph on the east wall to gain access to the next room. Continue down the flight of stairs and examine the glyph on the wall. Pick up the Glyph Sphere and continue down the flight of stairs. Examine the door at the bottom and place the Glyph Sphere into the recess. Once the door has opened, continue along the corridor to an uneven floor and touch the markings on the wall. This will remove the wall panel giving you access to a secret alcove. Remove the Besaid Sphere once inside. Return to the corridor and place Besaid Sphere on to the pedastal to remove the wall. Push the pedastal on to the shining floor tile. Once done, you'll eventually lower into the chamber below where you will encounter Lulu, Kimahri, and Yuna. You will eventually arrive back in the Great Hall. Good Job! You've just completed your first Cloister of Trials. Now return to Besaid Village. - - - [ Besaid Village ] Once in the temple, return to the central area of Besaid Village. After Yuna summons her first Aeon, 'Valefor'. Later that night you'll find yourself standing near the Besaid Aurochs. Head around the campfire (Counter-Clockwise) and you'll Speak with Yuna. After your first encounter with Yuna, speak with Wakka and let him know that you are read to go to sleep. Later that night, you'll find yourself on a dock in Tidus's dream. Head west to speak with Yuna, and Tidus will eventually wake up. Locate the Save Sphere at the far end of this room. Once you're ready, return to Besaid Village to speak with Wakka and recieve a new sword. You'll eventually find yourself outside of besiad village. Head a bit up the hill and you should encounter a few monsters. Thes battles are very easy, and basically states that you should use Tidus to defeat ground units and Wakka to defeat aerial units. Once the battle has finished, continue up the hill to encounter your next monster, the Water Flan. First, use Tidus to attack it. Dealing barely any damage, Lulu will step in. Use Lulu's Black Magic ability and select 'Thunder' to defeat the Water Flan. Once the mosnter is defeated, continue to the top of the hill. Locate the Save Sphere near the cliff, the follow the red arrow to continue towards the Pier. Continue forward, past the glyph on the fallen structure, and you will eventually encounter Kimahri. [ Boss: Kimahri ] I suggest using Cheer first as Kimahri outmatches you in strength. Also keep in mind that this fight is solo, so you won't have your allies to help you behind your back. Fortunately, casting Cheer, you shouldn't need to cast any potions unless it's absolutely neccessary. Kimahri depends on melee attacks only, his most powerful being Jump, which sometimes he might use on the same turn. Eventually, Wakka will step in to stop the fight. Once the fight is over, continue down the path to continue towards the Pier. Continue down the path a short distance, and you'll eventually encounter a Garuda. Follow the on-screen instructions until you have summoned Valefor. Unlike many Final Fantasy games before, summon's were controlled through Artificial Intelligence (AI), and all you had to do was watch as the Summoned Guardian did it's thing. Final Fantasy X makes it more challenging, instead of watching, you are now playing the Aeon. You continue to play the Aeon until you either dismiss it, or until it runs out of hit points. If you run out of hit points, don't worry, it's not Game Over, you simply just switch back to your party members an are unable to use the Aeon for the rest of the battle. - - - Once this battle has finished, continue down the path following the red arrow marked on your mini-map. After crossing the bridge you should encounter another Garuda. Use Wakka's 'Dark Attack' skill, as it's the only option you have for the time being. This skill, if successful, will blind the target making it harder for the enemy to hit you, and easier for you to hit the target. The rest of the battle will be under your control. - - - Once the battle has finished, continue towards the red arrow on your mini-map leading back to the Crossroads. Make your way down the path, following the red arrow on your mini-map, and you'll come to the beach. Locate the Save Sphere to the right of your starting location. Once at the beach, head northeast to the Pier. Speak to all the citizens bidding farewell to Yuna to recieve some nice parting gifts. Once you're ready, board the ship. [ S.S. Liki ] Locate the Save Sphere on the lower deck of the ship. You can find the entrance to the lower deck at the back of the ship. Once in the lower deck, take the first door on your left and open the treasure chest inside to recieve a 'Remedy'. Once you are ready, speak with Wakka at the front of the ship on the main deck. After speaking with Wakka, speak with Yuna. You'll find her at the front of the ship. After a long conversation with Yuna, you'll eventually come in contact with Sin. [ Boss: Sin ] [ HP: 2000 ] [ No Weaknesses ] Defeat the sinscale the same way you defeated the sinscale in Zanarkand. Watch for the ones who start to flicker their wings. If this happens, aim all of your attacks on that particual Sinscale first. A good combat stategy would be to cast Cheer on your entire party, and use Wakka or Lulu to attack Sin's fin. Your main target here is Sin, who you can only attack with Lulu's magic or Wakka's Blitzball.Sin doesn't have any particular weaknesses, Fire, Water, Bliizard, and Thunder should all do the same amount of damage to Sin. Each time you defeat three Sinscales, Sin will launch another set of Sinscales, so eliminate two of the Sinscales, and leave one alive. This will make the battle much easier, and much faster to win. Also use Wakka's Dark Attack on the remaining Sinscale so most of it's attempts to attack fail. - - - You won't get your experience from this fight just yet. Wakka will notice that Tidus is not on the ship, so he will jump in the water to look for him. Shortly after you will encounter another boss fight. [ Boss: Sinspawn Echuilles ] First, you'll want to cast Cheer on the party, and use Wakka's Dark Attack on the fiend. This will make the battle slightly less difficult. Also, the Sinscale tend to ram right into you. The damage is minimal, and once all of them have disappeared, a set of new Sinscale will take their place. For now, just attack the Sinpawn Echuilles and heal when you run low on HP.\ Probably the most powerful attack this enemy has is Blender, which is unavoidable and can deal some significant damage to all party members. So always keep your party's health above 100 HP. Use Overdrives when provided, you should win this battle. - - - After defeating Sinspawn Echuilles, you will recieve your experience from both Sin and Sinspawn Echuilles. All parrty members will be credited for both fights. [ Kilika ] Locate the Save Sphere on the dock, by the barrels, next to the ship. Continue down the docks, then make a left at the pub to to Ruined Square. Continue to the group of citizens, and your party directly ahead of you and Yuna will perform the sending. Once the sending has finished, Tidus will awaken at the Inn. Locate the save sphere next to the receptionist. Once you're ready, exit the Inn. You'll be visited by one of the crewmen and told to go to Wakka. A few things you might want to do before you leave. Next to the Inn, you'll see a young girl crying alone in one of the houses. Upon enterring the house, Tidus will notice that it's about to collapse and rescue her. Just beyond there, you'll see a house directly next to a repairman. Enter the hosue and open the treasure chest to recieve three potions. Return to the docks and enter the pub. Open the treasure chest once inside to recieve an Ether. This chest will remain unaccessible until you have saved the young girl from the destroyed house. Once you are ready, you will find Wakka directly to the right side of the pub. Return the previous area you just came from, and you'll find a new route next to the house where you recieved the three potions. This route was unaccessible before you spoke with Wakka. Continue forward to Kilika Woods. [ Kilika Woods ] Locate the Save Sphere directly in front of you. Once you are ready, approach Lulu. After speaking with Yuna, proceed down the path to your left to encounter a Ragora. Use Kimahri's 'Lancet' skill on the Ragora to learn 'Seed Cannon'. Once the battle has finished, continue down the same path and turn right. Open the treasure chest to obtain a new Blitzball for Wakka, the 'Scout'. Cross the main path so you are on the path to the east of the main path. Continue a short distance to the end and open the treasure chest to recieve two Mana Spheres. Return to the main path and proceed north. You'll be interrupted by two of the Crusaders who will point out your next targer, Ochu. [ Boss: Lord Ochu ] [ Suggest Party: Lulu, Tidus, Yuna ] First cast Cheer on the party. Have Lulu ready with Fire, and have Yuna cast Esuna when Lord Ochu used Poison Claw to counteract the poison effect. You may also want to conside using Valefor as this Aeon also knows Black Magic. It will also give you a chance to deal some significant damage to the fiend without having to worry about your party's health. Once Lord Ochu falls asleep it will start to regenerate it's health, so attack it with everything you've got. If you come to the point where you don't have enough health left, have Tidus cast flee. - - - Once you have defeated Lord Ochu, continue east to reach the temple. After the cutscene finishes, locate the save sphere directly ahead, then continue up the stairs. [ Boss: Sinspawn Geneaux & Tentacles ] [ HP: 3000 ] [ Weakness: Ice ] [ Immune: Water ] [ Suggested Part: Lulu, Yuna, Tidus ] First, I'd suggest summoning Valefor and deal as much damage as possible using the rest of your party members. Have Valefor defeat the two tentacles to allow magic to be cast. Valefor should be able to cast his overdrive on both the tentacles and the Sinspawn Geneaux. Once the tentacles are down, have Tidus cast Cheer on the party, have Lulu continuously cast Fire on the Sinspawn, and have Yuna, from this point on, heal party members who are low on HP or are affected with abnormal statuses. Sinspawn Geneaux's main strategy is poison. Most of it's other attacks are fairly weak, so you shouldn't have much of a problem defeating it. - - - Once you have defeated Sinspawn Geneaux, continue up the stairs and into the temple. [ Kilika Temple ] Once at the temple, head for the entrance, and the party will come in contact with the Luca Goers. Once the cutscene finishes, enter the temple. Locate the Save Sphere to the right of the set of stairs. Once inside the temple, speak with Wakka and pray with him. You'll meet with Dona and Barthello eventually. a snooty couple who you will encounter many times in the game. Once they leave, head up the stairs and into the Lift Room. After being forced to go down the lift. Head into the Cloister of Trials. [ Kilika - Trials ] Take the Kilika Sphere from the pedastal and place it in the recess next to the big door. The door should go up into flames. Take the sphere out of the recess and take it to the next room. For now we need to pick up the Glyph Sphere from the pedastal, so place the Kilika Sphere in one of the recesses either on the left or right wall Take the Glyph Sphere from the pedastal and palce it in to the recess on the north wall. A glyph should then appear. Touch the glyph to gain access to the next room. Go to the next room, remove the Kilika Sphere on the East wall and find an empty recess to place it into. Grab the Glyph Sphere and place it into the recess where you just took that Killika Sphere. The wall panel should open and the fire should stop. For now, grab a Kilika Sphere and place it into the recess next to the big door. Like the other one, the door should go up in flames. Remove the Kilika Sphere from the recess. You'll meet up with Wakka, Lulu, and Kimahri. After meeting with the group, speak with Wakka, then Lulu, then Kimahri, then head for the exit. Yuna will emerge from the fayth. [ Kilika Temple ] You'll arive back outside of the temple. Head towards the direction of the jungle. Another cutscene will roll by and you'll find yourself back in the jungle. Return to the ship in Kilika and let the party know that you are ready to embark. [ S.S. Winno ] Head up to the main deck and towards the white dot near front-center of the ship. And you will speak with the Luca Goers and Yuna. Once the cutscene finishes, speak with Yuna, then head to the upper deck. You'll hear Lulu and Wakka talking. Once the cutscene finishes, return to the upper deck again and you'll hear Lulu and Wakka continue their conversation. Continue doing so until you can get to up and on to the upper deck. Speak with Lulu and Wakka, then head back downstairs. Now head for the Blitzball at the back-center of the ship on the main deck. The next part is to show Jecht that you do have what it takes to make it into the tournament, and if done correctly, you'll be awarded the Jecht Shot. Follow the on-screen instruction to learn how to make the shot correctly. I'd suggest that you save the game right before going to the blitzball. That way, if you lose, just reset your game and try again. Speak with Yuna once you've managed to try or accomplish the Jecht Shot. The next morning you'll find yourself in Luca. [ Luca ] A few things you'll need to do before the tournament begins.First, locate the save sphere in the roundabout near your starting location. Use the red arrow on your mini-map to determine where you have to go next. After meeting with Maester Mika and Maester Seymour, you'll arive in the basement where you will meet up with the rest of your team. [ Blitzball Tournament ] Don't worry, you'll be given a large tutourial menu on how to play Blitzball. Go through each tutorial to familiarize yourself with the game. Once you are ready select 'End Tutorial'. [ Luca ] You are now faced with finding Auron, then returning back to the stadium. Time is not an issue though, so take as long as you'd like. Use the red arrows on your mini-map to determind where you must go next. Eventually you will end up at the cafe. Eventually, after a few cutscenes, Tidus will notice Yuna has disappeared. Upon leaving the cafe, you'll encounter Lulu, who happens to know that Yuna has been kidnapped by the Al Bhed. Follow the red arrow on the mini-map. Along the way to Dock 4, you'll encounter some ancient machina. Have Tidus cast haste on Lulu, then have Lulu perform her Thunder spellon her turns. Once you have arrived on the Al Bhed ship, you'll be in for a real tough battle. [ Boss: Oblitzerator ] [ HP: 6000 ] [ Weakness: Lightning ] [ Immune: Fire, Water, Ice ] First we need to make quick preperations. Have Tidus first cast Cheer on the party to raise everyone's strength and defense. On his next turn, cast haste on Lulu, then himself. Have Lulu repeatedly cast thunder on the crane. until it starts up. Have Tidus then use the cran. This will deal significant damage to the Oblitzerator. The rest oh it's remaining HP can be taken through simple melee attacks or Lulu's 'Thunder' magic. - - - After the battle finishes, follow the red arrow back to the stadium and finish the Blitzball Game. By now, after watching each of the tutorials, you should have a good understanding of Blitzball. The rest of the tournament is up to you. All I can say is, Good Luck, and Have Fun! Once youa re ready to play, enter the locker room. Locate the Save Sphere near the entrance and speak to Wakka. [ After the Finals ] After stressing with the Luca Goers, you'll be forced into some more competition when the group encounters a group of Sahagin Chieves; who can easily be defeated with regular attacks. You'll be going through a series of battles here. Most of them are realtively easy, just use your regular attacks to defeat them. Eventually, Maester Seymour will call forward the might Aeon, Anima. [ Luca ] Once you've arrived back outside of the stadium on the docks, follow the red arrows located on your mini-map and you'll eventually meet up with Yuna and the rest of the group. After a brief cutscene with the group, speak with Yuna. [ Highroad ] Locate the save sphere on the left side of the path directly ahead of you. You'll now have the option of playing Blitzball once you come in contact with a Save Sphere. This area is pretty straight forward, continue down the main path. After meeting with Maechen at the ancient ruined structure, head for the back end of the structure to find an 'Ice Brand'. Return to the main path and continue north. Next, you'll want to speak with a lady named Belgemine. You'll find her at the first inlet on your right, after passing the ancient ruined structure. If you accept her Aeon fight, and win, you will recieve an 'Echo Ring'. [ Belgemine's Aeon Fight ] I would suggest before attempting this fight, to make sure Yuna's Overdrive gague is full. This way she can use Grand Summon and have the Aeon's Overdrive on it's first move. After which, you should have the upper-hand. You'll then learn about how to block against attacks using the Shield and Boost abilities. Use these to 'Boost' your overdrive for the next attack on your Aeon, and use the 'Shield' ability to shield against any unwanted damage. You should be able to get two overdrives done in this fight, after which, you will have won. If you lose the fight, don't worry. It's not game over. - - - Return to the main path once you are ready, and continue norht. Also note, that some of the NPCs in this area will give you item upon speaking to them. Once in the next area, continue east down the path, then head north at the first inlet, let to the Chocobo. Open the treasure chest to recieve a 'Remedy', then return to the main path to continue east. Continue along the path, but do not kick the Blitzball. Instead, look for a boy not too far ahead, He will give you three 'Soft's. Continue east to the next area and proceed north. Continue north until you reach the first inlet on your right. Open the treasure chest to recieve 2000 Gil. Return to the main path and continue north. If you want a bit of interaction, you can find the Crusaders in the next inlet to your right, and Shelinda, a young woman who you'll come in contact with a few times, just ahead. Just before leaving this area, open the treasure chest on the right side of the highroad to recieve three 'Eye Drops'. Continue to the Al Bhed Shop in the next area. You'll awaken later that day. Once you're ready to continue through the story, exit the Agency to meet with Yuna, outside. After a long cutscene, you will awaken once again inside the agency. Head towards the exit. You'll be stopped by a young man who will give you a Level 1 Key Sphere. Upon leaving, you'll encounter Rin, owner of the Al Bhed Agency. Moments later, you'll hear a screech come from outside. Before leaving the Agency, save your game, and stock up on items and weapons, as some may come in handy for the upcoming fight. Once outside the Agency, follow the red arrow on your mini-map north. You'll then find the Chocobo Eater. [ Boss: Chocobo Eater ] [ HP: 10, 000 ] [ Weakness: Fire ] [ Immune: None ] You have more than one thing in this fight to worry about other than health. First, you will want to prepare. Have Tidus cast Haste on all party members. You'll want to have Auron out since he's probably your strongest player at the moment. Also, use Lulu to cast fire, or have Yuna summon Ifrit. Also, to avoid some of the Chocobo Eater's attacks, you might want to have Tidus cast Cheer. Once the Chocobo Eater lands on it's back, attack it with everything you've got and try to push it back. It will also try to do the same to you. There are two cliffs on both sides. If you fall off, it's not game over, it's just going to take a long time to get back up. Continue to attack it until you either manage to push it off the edge, or until it's defeated. You'll also be rewarded the offer to rent Chocobos. Cotninue north with or without a Chocobo. Cross both the bridges to the next area. There's currently know way to get to the bottom from this area, so don't waste your time looking for a way down. Once in the next area, continue up the hill to the next area. Don't forget to pick up the Al Bhed Primer lying on the ground. Now you can work your way back by going southeast at the fork in the road. Continue to the very end of the path. You'll encounter Lucil, O'aka, and a treasure chest containing a Mars Crest. Return to the fork in the road. You'll find a treasure chest, just before the fork begins containing two Hi-Potions. Once you're ready, head for the gate. You won't be allowed through just yet, so head back in the opposite direction for a short distance. Maester Seymour will open the path for you. Continue through the gate. [ Mushroom Rock ] Continue north down the path. You'll run into Clasko, who will direct you to the command center. Continue down the path to your left. Locate the Save Sphere to the left of your starting location. Talk to some of the Crusaders along the way to recieve various items. Once you're ready, continue north. There's different areas in the Mushroom Rock Valley where you are going to have to use an elevator to go any futher. These are marked as green squares on your mini-map. Locate the elevator directly ahead of you, then press the X button to activate it. These will take you up short cliffs. Continue along the path and you'll come to another Crusader, standing next to a treasure chest. Talk to the Crusader to recieve 10 'Potion's, the open the treasure chest. Continue down the path and you'll see another treasure chest in plain sight. Open it to recieve a 'Remedy', then continue down the path until it comes to an end. Use the elevator to advance to the upper level. Once in the next area, speak to the Crusader directly in front of you to recieve an X-Potion, then follow the path to the elevator and take the elevator to the level below. Locate a treasure chest directly behind the elevator. Open it to recieve a Serene Armlet. Return to the upper level and follow the path north. Locate a stretch of land to the far left, directly north of the elevator, and follow the path to a dead end to locate another Al Bhed Primer. Return to the main path and locate another elevator at the northeast end of the map. Take it to the upper level, then follow the red arrow to a save sphere and the elevator to the beach. Before enterring the command center, continue to the cliff at the end of the path, where you will find Luzzu. After speaking with him, ride the elevator to the upper level and exit. Once at the coast, follow the red arrow to the beach, and head towards the cliff. Next, follow the red arrow towards the command center. Locate a save sphere next to the blue tent. Enter the Blue tent once to find Gatta, then again, to speak with Kinoc.Once you are prepared, speak with the Guard standing to the right of the red arrow. [ Boss: Sinspawn Gui ] [ HP: 12, 000 ] [ Weakness: None ] [ Immune: None ] You might also want to prepare yourself for a difficult boss fight. First, have Tidus cast haste, then Cheer on the entire Party. Have Wakka then cast aim on the party. First, have Yuna cast Summon. Have the Aeons deal as much damage to Sinspawn Gui as possible, If not, then take out the arms first. Once you have taken out the arms, you'll be able to attack Sinspawn Gui with full power. Another good move to make would be to have Yuna cast NulShock on the party, since Sinspawn Gui tends to use Thunder quite a bit. When it starts to swing it's head furiously, start attacking it, otherwise it will release Venom; a powerful attack inflicting poison. Sinspawn Gui is also immune to skilled attacks such as Dark Attack, Silent Attack, etc. So don't waste your turn with thsoe moves. However, Power Break tends to work. Use it wisely. Take out the head if you want. It will permanently stop him from using Venom. Your main target is the body. After managing to deplete all the hit point the body has, you'll win. Take out the monster as quick as possible, because eventually it's arms will reappear. However, you can bypass the arms with the use of magic. With patience, and a little luck, you should win this battle. - - - After the battle, you'll see a taste of Sin's power. You'll then be up against Sinspawn Gui once again [ Boss: Sinspawn Gui ] This isn't really much of a fight, since Maester Seymour is probably the most powerful character you have in this battle, have him continuously cast his Black Magic spells on Sinspawn Gui's body, while having Auron focus on the arms, and Yuna for healing those of low hit points. - - - Once you've gained control of Tidus again, look for Gatta at the northeastern part of the beach. After Yuna sends thsoe who have fallen, you'll arrive back on the beach. Locate the Save Sphere directtly ahead, just before the group. There's also a treasure located behind Lulu that contains a 'Hi-Potion'. Once you're ready, speak with Auron, then follow the arrow to the top of the hill to meet with the rest of your party. [ Djose Highroad ] Locaate the Save Sphere to the right from your starting location. Follow the path along the beach until it comes to another fork. Also speak with some of the survivors and Djose citizens along the way to pick up some items. Continue down the path to the right at the form, then cross the bride to Yuna, and speak with her. Cross the next bridge to reach the Djose Temple. Locate the save sphereto your right. Enter the Djose Temple when you're ready. Once inside, you'll meet up with Isaaru. After a brief conversation with him, head up the stairs and into the Cloister of Trials. [ Djose - Trials ] Perhaps one of the mroe difficult ones. First, take the Djose Sphere from the left and place it into one of the recesses on the door. Take the Djose Sphere from the right, and place it into the other recess on the same door. Next, take the Djose Sphere from the pedastal and place it into he furthest slot on the right. Return to the Pedastal and take the Djose Sphere on the wall to the right of the Glyph. Place it in the unused recess next to the recess you placed the other Djose Sphere in. The structure above should now emit a green glow. Return to the pedastal. Take the Djose Sphere on the left side of the glyph that was on the wall at the center of the room and place it into the pedastal. Push the pedastal underneath the structure that's emitting the green glow. The sphere should now become much more powerful. Remove the Djose Sphere from the recess located furthest to the right. Return to the first room and place the Djose Sphere into the recess on the left wall. Return to recess from where you just took that recess, and take the Djose Sphere to the left out of the recess. Return to the first room and place it into the recess on the right wall. Now look for the Djose Sphere that was lit up, and place it into the recess on the right wall, next to the Glyph in the center of the room. The door in the center of the room should now open. Now that the door is opened, returned to the first room, grab the Djose Sphere on the left, and place it on the pedastal. Return to the first room, grab the Djose Sphere on the right, and place it into the pedastal. Push the pedastal into the next room and into the stream of lightning. The pedastal should float up allowing Tidus to use it as a stepping stone. Jump accros to the other side. Push the pedastal containing a Djose Sphere into the wall with the action (X) button, then return to the previous room. Step on the shining floor tile to the left to reset the pedastal. Take the Djose Sphere from the left of the pedastal and place it into the recess on the left wall next to the opened doorway. Take the pedastal from the right, and place it into the recess on the right wall in the first room. Finally, take the Djose Sphere from on the right side of the Pedastal and place it into the recess on the left wall in the first room. Touch the glyph that just appeared on the left wall. It will open revealing a Destruction Sphere. Ride the elevator to the upper level. In the next room, push all five pedastals in to light the fuse. Once the pedastal has appeared, place the Destruction Sphere into the pedastal to blow out the right wall. Locate the treasure chest in the small alcove containing a Magic Sphere. Continue up the stairs to your left, leading into the faith. Once inside, speak with a few of your companions. Dona and Barthello should them come intruding in. Head for the exit, and Yuna should come out from the fayth. Once outside, return inside the temple and proceed through the door to the left of the staircase and speak with the woman inside. Yuna will wake up and you'll make your way back outisde. Once there, head down the path and Yuna should come running out. After a brief cutscene, leave the Djose Temple, following Yuna. Once you come back to the fork in the road, you'll find the group waiting for you. Continue to the Moonflow by heading north at the fork in the road. [ Path to the Moonflow ] Next to Shelinda, you'll find a treasure chest in a narrow inlet containing three 'Level 1 Key Sphere's. Continue north down the path to the two Ronsos. After speeaking with the Ronsos, continue down tht path towards the Moonflow, but before you leave, open thge treasure chest in the corner, just ahead of where the Ronsos were on the left side. Open it to recieve an 'X-Potion'. Continue down the path until you find a small inlet on your right, located near the forest. Open the treasure ches to recieve three 'Level 1 Key Sphere's. Continue towards the large forest, where you will find Belgemine standing to the the right side of the path. [ Belgemine's Aeon Challenge II ] The first Aeon Belgemine will send out will be Ixion, so unfortunately you'll have to wait on using your new Aeon for another time. For now, let's match speed with speed. Summon Valefor. Remember to use the Boost and Shield abilities to your advantage. If you want to use Black Magic, I'd suggest using Water against Ixion. Use Overdrives when provided. Remember, the 'Boost ' ability will Boost your Overdrive gague on your target's next attack. Once you have finished the fight, you will recieve six 'Smoke Bomb's, and a 'Summoner's Soul', an item that will greatly come in handy for future fights. Don't pass this up. Once you are ready, continue down the path, into the forest. At the forest's edge, just as you area about to enter, you'll notice a small island on the mini-map. Locate the hidden path to the left then open the treasure chest and obtain the ' Magic Defense Sphere'. Return to the main path and continue north. Once in the next area, continue north, to the Moonflow. Following the brief cutscene, follow the red arrow and exit. [ Moonflow ] You'll now be at the Moonflow. Open the treasure chest next to O'aka to reiceve two 'Phoenix Down's, then speak with Yuna, once done, follow the red arrow to the next area, and speak to the Driver, next to the Shoopuf. When you're ready, let him know you are ready to get on. [ Boss: Extractor ] [ HP: ??? ] [ Weakness: N/A ] [ Immune: N/A ] Eventually, after quite a long story, you'll run into the Al Bhed, who will steal Yuna. After Tidus and Wakka dive in you will find Yuna trapped in some sort of bubble. (Sorry I couldn't be more precise about Hit Point, Weaknesses and Immunities, I didn't have 'Scan' at the time). First, have Tidus cast haste on both himself and Wakka, then have Wakka cast Aim on the entire party. Finally, have Tidus cast Cheer. Now start using as many physical attack on the Extractor as possible. Use Delay Attack when needed. It won't help much, but at most it might give you a few extra turns. Once it starts readying Depth Charges, attack the Extractor with everything you've got. You don't want to be anywhere neat this boss when it's depth charges are ready. Eventually the Extractor will start malfunctioning and you will have won the battle. - - - After the battle finishes, and following a brief cutscene, you'll find yourself on the north side of the Moonflow. Locate the Save Sphere in the northeast corner. Continue west to the Shoopuf's locationg, then west again to rest area. Open the treasure chest once there, to recieve an 'Ether'. Continue west, to the path of Guadosalam. Continue down the path a short distance, and you should find Rikku lying unconcious on the ground. After meeting up with the rest of the group, cross the small bridge, and continue down the path, where Rikku will find a treasure chest, in battle mode. Follow the on-screen instructions, then continue down the path. Also, locate a treasure chest to the right of the path, shortly after the bridge containing four 'Antidote's. Continue to the next part of the forest. You're almost in Guadosalam. First, before enterring, locate the treasure chest near the entrance of Guadosalam. Also, many battle sequences in this area containing treasure chests. Use Rikku's 'Steal' ability to open them. [ Guadosalam ] Once inside, turn right at the fork, and open the treasure chest to the side of the door to recieve a 'Mega-Potion'. Now enter throuugh the large door. Once inside, head for the entrance to the right of Yuna. Tromell will open the doors for you. Proceed inside to the Lounge. Once inside speak with the rest of your group. Maester Seymour should eventually arrive after speaking with the rest of your group. Once you've finished speaking with Maester Seymour, exit the lounge and return to the fork, where you will find your group. Now head to the uper level, and into the door ahead. Continue down the path, then up the stairs and into the farplance. Once there, speak with the rest of your group. Eventually, you'll have left the farplane, and have come back to Guadosalam. Back i Guadosalam, head to the south corner on the upper level to locate a treasure chest. Return to the main level to find your group, Next, head to the lower level and toward the Thunder Plain, left at the fork. After learning that Seymour is lo longer is Guadosalam, return to the group, then head for the Thunder Plains. [ Gandof Thunder Plains ] There's sort of a Mini-Game in this area. Whenver you see a flash of lightning, press the X button. Continue doding the lightning and you can recieve rewards. There's a treasure chest to the left not far from your starting location. Also locate a save sphere directly ahead of where you found the treasure chest. A good strategy to use in the Thunder Plains whould to be to have Yuna summon Ixion is battles. She'll take most of the experience, but since most of the creatures in this area only (and I mean only) cast Thunder, there's no chance of getting defeated. Another strategic move you may want to use in this area is Wakka's Slience Attack, so the opposing target can't cast 'Thundara' or 'Thunder'. Continue following the red rrow on the mini-map. There are also many Cactuar Stones in this area. Refer to the 'Secrets & Side Quests' section to learn more about them. After meeting with Shelinda, look for a small inlet on the right side of the plain to find a treasure chest containing a 'Water Ball' and another Cactuar Stone. Continue north to the clearing. From here, you either have the option of continuing onwards, or stopping at Rin's Agency. If you want to stop at Rin's Agency, do so, and stock up on anything you might need for the journey ahead. Once you're ready, proceed into the room Yuna just entered. Once done, speak with Rikku to leave. Continue north to the last stretch of the Thunder Plains. First, follow the east wall, and you'll run into another cactuar stone. Examine it, remember it's location, then continue north. Yuna will eventually stop the group with some urgent news. Once the cutscene finishes, head west directly from the lightning tower to find another cactuar stone in an inlet. Examine it, remember it's location, then continue north along the west wall. You should locate a treasure chest containing a 'Remedy'. Continue north to the clearing. [ Macalania Woods ] Speak with Auron up ahead, then continue down the path. Locate the save sphere to the left of Tidus. The road to the right leads to Bevelle. Since we're going to the Macalania temple, let's continue up the hill to the left. Near the end of the path you can spot a treasure chest to the left of the path which contains 2000 Gil. Continue to the next area. Continue down the path in the next area. Just before the path starts to slope, look for a hidden treasure chest to the right of the path containing three 'Phoenix Down's. Continue down the slope and along the path until you run into Barthello. After speaking with him, continue down the path. You'll soon run into someone playing the harp. If you accept her quest, continue back down the path you just came from, and touch only the blue butterflies. Touching the red ones will initiate a battle sequence. If you manage to get all seven, you will recieve an MP Sphere. If time runs out, exit the area and re-enter, then touch the blue butterfly next to the woman playing the harp. This game is also available in many other areas of the woods. See what other items you can find. If you just want to get to teh Macalania Temple, simply ignore this side-quest and continue down the path. Follow the path in the next area up the hill, to the point where the path curves on your mini-map at the far west. Locate a hidden treasure chest containing a 'Remedy'. In the next area, you'll locate O'aka, talk to him, open up the Weapons or Items trade menu, then cancel out of it. Tell him it's all too pricey and he'll give you a major discount. Once in the next area, Auron will point out a hidden entrance. Upon enterring, head down the corridor to the small pond inside. [ Boss: Spherimorph ] This boss changes it's elemental weaknesses quite a bit so it's hard to know what it's weaknesses and immunities are. The best way to tell, is by looking for what magic it will cast on you, then use that element's weakness to attack it. Unfortunately, every time you manage to find out what weakness it has, it will change for the next turn. First, have Tidus cast Haste on the entire party. And have another one of your party members cast focus and reflex on the group. Then, either try defeating Spherimorph with physical it's weakness using only magic. Using physical attacks will most likely heal it, depending if that weapon has any elemental damage to it. (Waterstrike, Firestrike etc.). If it casts 'Fire', cast and ice spell on it. If it casts 'Thunder' use a water spell on it. If it casts 'Water', use a lightning spell on it. If it casts 'Blizzard', use a fire spell on it. Also, if you have the proper Aeons, let Spherimorph build up their overdrives. This will allow for massive damage. If you don't know it's next weakness, take a guess, or make an attack, and it will counter with a spell, giving you a hint on it's weakness. - - - Once the battle is over, exit the spring, then head north to Lake Macalania. Buy weapons and items at the Agency if needed, locate the Save Sphere inside the Agency, and an Al Bhed Primer outside of the Agency to the left of the entrance. Once ready, exit the Agency. Follow the red arrow west and exit. [ Crawler ] [ HP: 16, 000 ] [ Weakness: Lightning ] [ Immune: Fire, Water, Ice ] What makes this battle extremely difficult is the faaact taht sicne the Negator is active, you will not be able to use Magic or Aeons. You won't be able to attack the Negator with Melee, so only Wakka will be able to hit it. Firest, you'll probably want to cast Cheer on your party. Fortunately, there are a few skills and abilities you are still able to use. Also, have Lulu cast Reflex, then exchange her for Wakka. The crawler has quite a few difficult attacks; one being Gatling Gun. This attack will deal multiple amounts of damage to your party. Have Wakka cast 'Aim' on the entire party, then aim all of his attacks on the Negator until it have been temporarily destroyed. Once it has been destroyed, heal your party members with cure or items, summon Ixion, and do as much damage as possible. The Crawler is mainly weak against lightning, so once the Negator is down, use haste on Lulu and have Lulu cast her strongest lightning spell as many times as possible. Another one of the Crawler's harmful attacks, 'Assault', the Crawler will ram into you. This attack can deal quite a bit fo damage, so if you have 'Protect', have it ready. Eventually it will say 'Mana Beam in 3 Turns'. It'll still be able to make any other attack while it's charging, but before this happens, summon an Aeon and cast Shield. Mana Beam, depending on your party's stats, could do possibly over 1500 damage for each party member. - - - After the battle, you will arive outside of the Macalania Temple. Continue inside and speak with the Al Bhed near the flight of stairs to recieve 400 Gil. Continue down the cliff's edge and inside the temple. [ Macalania Temple ] Locate the Save Sphere next to the entrance. Head towards the center of the Great Hall. Head towards the flight of stairs. After hearing about the sphere in Yuna's belongings, head to the room to your right. Exit the room after watching the sphere, and head up the flight of stairs in the center of the Great Hall. Head down the corridor and into the next room. [ Boss: Seymour Guado ] [ HP: 6000 ] [ Weakness: None ] [ Immune: None ] Tidus, Yuna, and Wakka have the Talk Commands. Use these characters to raise your group's defenses. Once that's done, bring out Lulu and have her cast Focus. Also have Tdius caste 'Haste' on the entire party, and have Yuna heal those who are low on health. Seymour will cast ice, then lightning, then water, and fire, in that order. Use Yuna's Nul(Elemental Damge) abilities to counter these before they happen. If you don't want the fight to go on for a long time, I'd suggest summoning an Aeon, then wait for for it's overdrive. Don't use Shiva, (The '????'), as Tidus will tell Yuna to use it after Seymour summons Anima. Once the Aeon's Ovverdrive is ready, use it to drain all or most of Seymour's Health, and defeat the two Guado Guards. [ Boss: Anima ] [ HP: 18, 000 ] [ Weakness: None ] [ Immune: None ] I'd really suggest using Aeons for this fight. Each time Anima casts 'Pain', there's a good cahnce that it will inflict instant death on one of your allies. So summon Shiva, as Tidus suggests. Also, if Shiva runs low on health, have her cast 'Blizzara' on herself. Keep using Heavenly strike on Anima, as it's the strong attack Shiva can do for the time being. Once Anima's Overdrive is full, or nearly full, have Shiva cast Shield to shielf herself from Anima's deadly overdrive. If Shiva dies, summon another Aeon to take her place, or defeat Anima just using your party. If the overdrive status comes available for Shiva, use it. In most cases, Anima will probably cast 'Pain', then 'Boos', then 'Pain' again, leaving you at low hit points. Remember, low HP can be restored using Shiva's 'Blizzara' spell, if she still has MP remaining. If Shiva dies before Anima is dead, summon a new Aeon, or follow the instructions below. If you would rather use your party instead of summoning an Aeon, you're in for a difficult fight. Pull out your strongest Melee attacker, in some cases that would be Auron. Also pull out one of your healers, in most cases this would be Yuna, and heal anyone low on HP. Don't bother casting any defensive spells on your party. Each time Anima uses Pain, it will, in most cases, inflict Instant Death to one oof your party members, thus, it would just be a waste of your MP. If you still decide you want to cast defensive spells on your party, First, cast 'Haste' on your entire party, then 'Shell', if known yet. When it's Overdrive Gague is full, either summon an Aeon and cast 'Shield' to take the damage, or make sure your party is at full health, defend, and hope for the best. After defeating Anima, Seymour will dismiss Anima. [ Boss: Seymour Guado ] [ HP: 6000 ] [ Weakness: None ] [ Immune: None ] Seymour is a little easier this time around. For one, he doesn't have 'Shell' status anymore. Unfortunately he has a new tactic as well. Unlike before, he can be somewhat unfair. Most of his attacks consist of Multi-Elemental attacks, which will deal massive elemental dammage to two of your allies instead of just one, so it would be a good idea to cast 'Shell' on the party, if known. You could also summon what's left of your Aeons, deal as much damage as possible, then allow your party to finish him off. - - - Locate the Save Sphere near the west exitm then head out through the west exit. Continue down the corridor until the tunnel pieces disappear. [ Macalania Trials ] - Head down the slope to your left to the lower room. - Push the pedastal east into the patch of snow. - Remove the Macalania Sphere from the rcess and place it into the pedastal. - Push the pedastal to the patch of snow at the north wall. - Take the Glyph Sphere from the middle support in the center of the room. - Head down the slope towards the pedastal in the lower level of the room. - Place the Glyph Sphere into the left-most recess on the wall. - Return to the upper level and obtain the Macalania Sphere from the recess located next to the left-most support in the center of the room. - Return to the lower level and place the Macalania Sphere into the recess on the support to the left. - Push the pedasta, with the Macalania Sphere to the right to fit it underneath the support to the right. - Return to the upper level and take the Macalania Sphere, just before the slope that leads into the lower level. - Place the Macalania Sphere into the recess on the middle support in the center of the room. - Head up the slope to the main level and step on the glimmering floor tile. - Remove the Macalania Sphere from the pedastal, then push the pedastal down the slope. - Return to the level below, then place the Macalania Sphere into the recess, to gain access to the lower level. - Return to the upper level, step on the glimmering floor switch to reset the pedastal. - Remove the Destruction Sphere from the recess on the pedastal and push the pedastal down the slope. - Take the Destruction Sphere to the lowest level, and place it into the recess to the right of the support on the left. - Open the treasure chest to recieve a Luck Sphere. - Return to the upper-most level and leave the room. - Re-enter the cloister or trials. Follow all the steps above until you have completed the corridor. Follow it to the end and exit. - - - Once back in the Foyer, oriceed down the stairs.to meet with the group. Once you've made it outside, follow the cliff's edge to the end and exit. Continue to the end of the trail to the right and locate a treasure chest containing a 'Level 1 Key Sphere'. Cross the thin bridge of ice behind you and continue down the trail until you come to the clearing, where you will then fight your next boss. [ Boss: Wendigo ] [ HP: 18, 000 ] [ Weakness: None ] [ Immune: None ] At the beginning of the battle, the Wendigo will be casted with Beserk by the two Guado Guards. Before attacking, have Auron use Power Break and 'Armor Break' on the Wendigo, otherwise you might bee looking at an instant death on each of Wendigo's attacks, depenging how much hit points each of your allies have. Once this is done, take out the two Guados, otherwise they will become extremely annoying. They will use Auto-Potion each time you attack one of them, so have Rikku use her 'Steal' command on the Guados. Once you have defeated one of the Guados, they will use either 'Shell' or 'Protect', depending which Guado you defeat first. Use Dispel, if known, to counteract these effects. Also, if known, have one of your allies cast 'Protect' on the group, as each attack Wendigo deals, will inflict massive damage, and in most cases, instant death. After the battle, you'll find yourself underneath the ice. - - - Speak with the rest of your group, then speak with Rikku when you're ready for the story to continue. After interacting with the rest of your group, move towards Yuna, then speak to Auron. Finally, move towards Lulu, and everyone will notice Sin. You'll eventually wake up in a desert oasis. [ Bikanel Island - Sanubia Desert ] Swim southwest to the corner of the pond to locate a treasure chest in the water. Dive down and open it to recieve four 'Remedy's. Move towards the desert and you'll eventuall encounter a Zu. Start attacking the Zu and you'll eventually run into Auron and Lulu. After the fight, locate Wakka directly north of the oasis. Also locate an 'Al Bhed Primer' underneath the structure where you found Wakka. Locate a treaaasure chest in the same area to find eight 'Al Bhed Potion's. Follow the red arrow southwest and exit. Once in the next area, follow the sands east, where you'll encounter Kimahri trying to make his way over the Dunes. Return to the area you came from, head north, then continue along the north-most path on your mini-map where you will eventually run into Rikku. Also locate two treasure chests where you found Rikku that contain two 'Ether's and eight 'Al Bhed Potion's. You will also find a Save Sphere inside the tent. From this point on, speak to Rikku whenever she stops. She will direct you to exactly the place you need to go next. Note: There is an area in this desert where you can locate Cactuar. They are worth a lot of experience. It's worth the fight. Along the way, in the same area where you found Rikku, you'll eventually locate a large inlet where you can find an 'Al Bhed Primer' and a treasure chest that contains four ''High-Potion's. Continue northeast when ready. Once in the next area, head to the northwest corner to locate a treaasure chest containing two 'Mega-Potion's. Next, head towards the central rock formations where you will find a few treasure chest. At one of the rock formations you will find two 'X-Potions's, amd at another, you will find a treasure chest containing four 'High-Potion's. A third, near the ruins at the west, next to a save sphere also contains eight 'Al Bhed Potion's. Head towards the ruin and look for another formation on your mini-map that somewhat resembles a Go-Kart. Head inside the small inlet to locate two treasure chests. One contains a 'Level 2 Key Sphere', another contains 10, 000 Gil. Continue north and exit the ruins. You'll find quite a few treasure chests in this next area which are in quite a few sinkholes. Don't be fooled though, in order to get to these treasure chests, you'll have to take on a few fiends. Head for the first inlet on your left. Look for a sinkhole with a treasure chest containing a Mercury Crest. Head directly east of the sinkhole to find a treasure chest next to a fallen structure containing eight 'Hi-Potion's. Head directly north from taht structure to find another treasure chest containing two 'X-Potion's. Now head north. You'll eventually come across a large dried out plant fiend inside of a sinkhole. [ Sandragora ] [ HP: 12, 750 ] [ Weakness: Fire ] [ Immune:Water ] Okay, so it isn't a boss, but it's still somewhat of a tricky battle so I am going to explain this to you. The most common attack this fiend will rely on is Seed Cannon, which will inflict 'Confusion' on your allies. What I am trying to say is, don't use any powerful melee attacks in this battle; one example being Auron. Have Tidus cast haste on Lulu, then have Lulu cast Fire spells on the fiend. If they are inflicted with 'Confusion', use one of your weaker allies and melee attack the character. Eventually, you'll defeat the Sanddragora that blocks the path. Continue north to 'Home'. - - - [ Home ] After learning that Home is under attack by Yevon and the Guado, search the body of Keyakku to find two 'High-Potion's, then head north. Locate the save sphere near the entrance. Enter the building when you are ready. You'll now go through a series of battles.. Continue down the east corridor Head down the flight of stairs and down the east corridor. Locate the Save Sphere in the northwest corridor. Pick up the 'Al Bhed Primer' at the end of the corridor, then enter the second door on your right. Defeat the enemies in this room. Examine the treasure chest and insert the number '5633'. You'll then recieve a 'Special Sphere'. Return the the corrdior. Head throught he northwest corridor, then meet with your group. Continue down the flight of stairs. Open the treasure chest at the bottom for a 'Level 2 Key Sphere'. Continue through the door into the Summoner's Sanctum. Once inside the Summoner's Sanctum, after a long cutscene, locate a treasure chest in the southwest corner containing 10, 000 Gil. Exot the Sanctum to the Airship Dock. Board the Airship. [ On the Airship ] Once on the bridge, speak with Cid. Exit, then re-enter the room for another cutscene, then speak with the Al Bhed directly behind Cid. After learning that Yuna is gettting married speak with the rest of your group, then head for the bridge exit. Head south down the corridor, into the next room. Continue up the flight of stairs, into the next corridor, and continue south to the back of the ship. Once there, head towards the abck of the deck. and ride the lift to the outside deck. [ Boss: Evrae ] [ HP: 32, 000 ] [ Weakness: None ] [ Immune: Fire, Lightning, Water, Ice ] There's a few things you might want to consider before taking on Evrae. First, make sure you have lots of Hi-Potions, Al-Bhed Potions, Mega-Potions, or X-Potions, as you will most likely need them in this battle. Also make sure you hvae plenty of 'Soft's, as Evrae tends you use 'Stone Gaze' from time to time. First, cast 'Slow' on Evrae, then 'Haste' your entire party. Use Auron's 'Power Break' and 'Mental Break' to weaken Evrae's physical damage and magic defense. Have one of your party members cast 'Refex' and 'Cheer' on your party. This will increase evasion against physical damage and increase your strenngth and defense. Use your strongest Melee players to attack Evrae close up. In most cases this would be Auron. When he starts to inhale a deep breath, trigger Cid to move further away. This way, when Evrae exhales his 'Poison Breath', it will show that it's out of range. Also, if you can stay back long enough, Cid will launch a few missiles at Evrae, dealing multiple damage. However, once you pulled back, you'll only be able to use ranged attacks to deal damage to Evrae. Bring out Lulu and Wakka, cast 'Haste' on them, then deal as much damage as possible. Evrae is strong against all magic spells. He's immune to 'Bio' and 'Demi', so magic spells will only deal half damage. After Evrae exhales, switch back to your melee units and command Cid to move in closer. Eventually, after dealing so much damage to Evrae, it'll cast 'Haste' on itself. If this happens, counter it by casting 'Dispel' on it. Do not cast 'Slow', if you do, it will simply cast 'Haste' on itself again and take it's turn. If it happens to inhale, and you can't pull back before it happens, have Tidus use 'Delay Attack' on Evrae. Hopefully this should buy you some extra time. You should now be able to easily finish it off through melee attacks. - - - [ Bevelle ] After the fight, you'll find yourself in Bevelle, savinging Yuna from her wedding with Seymour. Alright seriously, it's been bugging me to say this, but what kind of RPG would name a villain 'Seymour'... Once you have landed in Bevelle, you'll go through a series of battles. Some can be rather difficult, so I will explaing this carefully. You will want to go after the harder enemies first. Take out the Flamethrows before the Snipers, and cast 'Slowga' to make battles much easier. When you come against some of the Machina, take out the YKT-63s first. They have the power to boot your charact right out of the battle using 'Thrust Kick' if it is the last enemy standing. Once you encounter the YAT-99, quickly defeat the frontline enemies first, then you will surround the YAT-99, and now be able to attack it using your melee fighters, when before, you could only use Lulu or Wakka to attack it. After Yuna's marriage, and a few cutscenes, you'll find yourself inside Bevelle Palace. Continue down the flight of stairs to the bottom level and follow the corridors into the Cloister of Trials. Locate the Save Sphere aaat the entrance to the Cloister of Trials. Also Locate an Al-Bhed Primer at the bottom of the flight of stairs where you met up with your group. Once you are ready, proceed into the Cloister of Trials. [ Bevelle - Trials ] - Follow the corridor to a pedastal and push it on to a glimmering floor tile. - Ride the lift forward to the Directional Glyph and confirm the default direction. - Wait for the first Directional Glyph to give a signal to the right, then press the 'X Button' to confirm. - Ride the lift forward to the next Directional Glyph and confirm the default direction. - Remove the Bevelle Sphere from the recess and place it into the pedastal. - Push the Pedastal back on to the elevaator. - Ride the lift forward to the next Directional Glyph and confirm the default direction. - Ride the lift forward to the next Directional Glyph and command the lift to move east. - Ride the lift forward to the next Directional Glyph and command the lift to move into an alcove to the right. - Remove a Bevelle Sphere from the pedastal and place it into the recess. - Push the pedastal back on to the elevator. - Ride the lift forward to the next Directional Glyph and command the lift to move into the opposite diection. - Ride the lift forward passing the first Directional Glyph, proceeding to the next and command the lift to turn left. - Ride the lift forward to the next Directional Glyph and command the lift to move west. - Ride the lift forward passing the first Directional Glyph, proceeding to the next and command the lift to turn right. - Remove the Glyph Sphere from the recess and place it into the pedastal. - Push the pedastal back on to the elevator. - Ride the lift forward to the next Directional Glyph. The lift should automatically turn right. - Ride the lift forward until the corridor comes to and end. You will arrive back on the opposite end of the same level - Ride the lift forward, passing the first Directional Glyph proceeding tot he next, and command the the lift to move east. - Push the pedastal forward, towards the path that you cannot see, then ride the lift to the next Directional Glyph, that should automatically make the lift turn left. - Continue to the next Directional Glyph. The lift should automatically point to the hidden elevator you accessed using the Destruction Sphere. - Proceed up the flight of stairs and open the treasure chest at the top. - Step on the glimmering floor switch that took the treasure chest's place to reset the pedastal to the top of the stairs. - Continue down the corridor to your right. - - - [ Via Purifico ] Locate the Save Sphere diirectly to the north of your starting locatition. Each large open area will consist of a switch in the center of the room. From the first teleporter, head down the eaast corridor where you'll locate Kimahri. Also locate a treasure chest containing a 'Mega-Potion' to the left of the teleporter. Continue north down the corridor and you'll eventually find Auron. Follow the corridor to the west until you come to a gate sealing you from going any futher. Look for a corridor nearby leading west. Follow it to an end and you'll eventually find Lulu. Also open the treasure chest to recieve a 'White Magic Sphere'. Return to where you found Auron and continue north. [ Isaaru's Aeon Challenge ] First Aeon: Ifrit Second Aeon: Valefor Third Aeon: Bahamut To defeat Ifrit, pull out Shiva. Be careful here, Ifrit is weak against ice, but Shiva is also weak against Fire. Use the Boost and Shield strategies to protect her against any unwanted damage Isaaru will then summon Valefor. Vavelfor is weak against lightning, but unless your Ixion has some good skills, I would suggest summoning Bahamut and using Thundaga. If you come to a point where you have two turns, cast magic the first, then use 'Shield' on the second. The third Aeon Isaaru will summon is Bahamut. Unfortunately, Bahamut has no elemental weaknesses. Also, since Isaaru summoned his Bahamut, you won't be able to summon yours, so instead, summon the Aeon that possesses the most agility. Usually Ixion or Valefor. Bahamut will not attack your Aeon. Instead, it will put on a countdown timer. In five turns, it will unleash it's overdrive, so before that happens, make sure you cast Shield and Focus on your Aeon. - - - Follow the underwater corridor. You'll pass two save spheres, then enter a large open area, where you'll come face to face with Evrae Altana. [ Boss: Evrae Altana ] First, there are two ways of defeating this boss, you can either throw 'X-Potion's and 'Phoenix Down's at it, or you can unlock all the gates and make an escape. This battle is very easy, so there is no need to have to cast any defensive spells on your party. One of the very few difficulties with this battle that you should watch out for is 'Stone Gaze'. If this successfully hits one of your group members, not only will that character be struck with 'Petrification', that character will also shatter. [ Option 1 ] If you would rather defeat it simply where it is, there aare many ways this can be done. It would take about two 'Phoenix Down's to defeat the boss. If you don't have a Phoenix Down, it cal also be defeated by throwing two 'X-Potion's at it. If you don't have either of these I would suggest stick with Option 2. [ Option 2 ] The other, much longer way of finishing this battle, is by unlocking the gates. Each gate will consist of two locks. Use your trigger command and select 'Open Lock'. This is effective if one of your players were hit with petrification. Eventually, the gate will close behind Evrae, locking him in place, rendering him unable to attack. - - - After defeating Evrae, you'll find yourself back outside with the rest of the group and eventually come to the Highbridge [ Highbridge ] There are two save points in this area. One near the end of the Highbridge, and one near Kimahri way up ahead. Once you're ready, continue north. [ Boss: Seymour Natus '] [ HP: 36, 000 ] [ Weakness: None ] [ Immune: None ] Yuna, Auron, and Tidus have the 'Talk' commands. Use them to raise defenses. Cast Reflect on your entire Group. This will eliminate all the magic damage Seymour Natus deals, including his worst attacks, 'Break' and 'Flare'. Unfortunately, you won't be able to use healing magic such as 'Cura'. Instead, use healing items such as 'Mega-Potion's, 'Al-Bhed-Potion's. Next, cast Bio on Seymour Natus, This will deal massive damage to him through each turn. Seymour Natus can only truly be defeated if you use your turns wisely. If you don't have any of the above spells, then have your strong melee attackers hit the mortibody. Once you have drained the life of the Mortibody, it willl steal quite a bit of life from Seymour Natus. Also, if you don't have reflect, you can still beat Seymour Natus, but it's going to take a lot of patience, time, and luck. On each turn, Seymour Natus delivers multiple magic hits on two of your allies, which can deal quuite a bit of damage if you haven't talked to Seymour yet, or just depending what you've done in the Sphere Grid that made it possible for you to get this far. You can also defeat Seymour Natus with Aeons. Buildi up their overdrives, and heal them by either using 'Cura', if known, or by casting their own elemental immunities against them. Have your Aeon cast Focus on itself to weaken the elemental damage Seymoure deals to it, and use the overdrives when they become available. It might take longer, it may be more frustrating, but eventually, you'll defeat Seymour Natus. - - - [ Macalania Woods ] Continue south, away from the campsite and you'll come to a four-way crossing. Continue south, then to the shore to find Yuna and Kimahri, and stay tuned for the FMV that makes Final Fantasy X so great. Return towards the camp. Exit to the east at dawn. [ Calm Lands ] Once you've made it to the Calm Lands, proceed up the path towards the field. Continue down the path and on to the open field towards the Chocobos. Head towards the tent in the center of the field. Along the way you should find Belgemine standing by a stone structure. I would definelt suggest that you not pass this up, as your reward will greatly help your Aeons. [ Belgemine's Aeon Challenge III ] Belgemine's Aeon: Shiva Reward: Thirty 'Power Sphere's, 'Aeon's Soul'. Belgemine will first dsummon Shiva, so summon Shiva's one weakness, Fire. Bring out Ifrit. Also, use NulFrost when neccessary to avoid any unwanted cold spells. Use the overdrives when they become available, and remember to use the 'Boost' and 'Shield' commands. You should by now already know what they do. If you run low on HP, cast healing magic on Ifrit, or use a Fire spell on him. - - - Once you have finished Belgemine's Aeon Challenge, continue to the center of the field where you can find a tent. Locate the Save Sphere next to the merchant. Once you have everything you need, head northeast to Mt. Gagazet. Next, cross the Bridge, and prepare to fight the next boss. [ Boss: Defender X ] [ HP: 64, 000 ] [ Weakness: None ] [ Immune: Physical ] Defender X is immune to physical damage, which makes him quite difficult. Makre sure one of your allies has the 'Piercing' ability.First, cast 'Protect', 'Haste', 'Cheer' 'Reflex' on your entire party. Defender X, in most cases will deal over 2, 000 damge. Next, have Auron hit Defender X with 'Armor Break' and 'Mental Break'. This should allow more physical and elemental damage to come in. Heal your allies whenever they are hit. Even with 'Protect', Defender X can knock out your allies quicker than a desert melts ice. Sometimes, when youa ttack Defender X, it will counter with it's 'Blaster Punch', which can deal more than 1, 000 damage to the character you just attacked with. Eventually, Defender X is going to case 'Slowga', which will inflict 'Slow' on your entire party. If this happens, cast 'Hastega' on your entire party. Use Overdrives when they are available, and you'll have eventually defeated Defender X. Once you have nearly defeated Defender X, it will cast 'Mighty Guard' on itself, making your Physical Damage, become usesless. It will also nullify elemental damage done to it. This can be countered using 'Dispel'. - - - Once you have defeated Defender X, Head down to the lower level and pass under the bridge, into the next area. Continue west and into the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth. [ Cavern of the Stolen Fayth ] - Continue north into the large open room. - Follow the corridor east until you find a dead end corridor to your right. - Proceed east at the dead end corridor to find a treasure chest containing a 'Megalixir'. - Continue north until you approach another large open area. - Wait for the cutscene to finish, then proceed north. - Head down the east corridor towards a dead end. Open the treasure chest to recieve a 'Level 2 Key Sphere'. - Follow the corridor west, then north down another dead end path. Open the treasure chest to obtain a 'Fortune Sphere'. - Continue south down the corridor, then west where the path splits up. - Open the treasure chest at the end of the path to obtain two 'Mega Potion's. - Continue down the dead end pat to your left and pick up the Al-Bhed Primer. - Continue east down the corridor, passing the save sphere, into the open room. [ Boss: Yojimbo ] First Aeon: Yojimbo The first and only Aeon you will fight is Yojimbo and his pet. Yojimbo will only send his pet out to attack, but the overdrive can be powerful so shield yourself from that. Yojimbo will also ocassionally throw his knives at you. This can deal anywhere between 500 - 1, 500 damage depending how far you have progressed on the Sphere Grid. Cast 'Hastega' on your party, then cast 'Cheer', 'Protect', and 'Focus'. This should block any unwanted damage. The battle isn't rather simple> Yojimbo does have a lot of HP, so it will be quite a long battle. - - - Once the battle is finished, step on the teleporter and transport to the left. Open the treasure chest to recieve a 'Flexible Arm', then teleport back to the east. This time, teleport east and open the two treasure chests in the next area. One contains an 'MP Sphere', the other contains two 'X-Potion's. Return west then teleport North into the Chamber of the Fayth. Once asked why you have summoned Yojimbo, select the first option, then pay his asking price. Return outside, out of the valley, and to the area where you fought Defender X, head to the upper level, cross the bridge, then enter Mt. Gagazet. [ Mt. Gagazet ] Exit the cave then continue along the cliff's edge and you will eventually encounter the Ronso Tribe. After speaking with the Ronsos continue north where you will encounter Biran and Yenke. [ Boss: Biran Ronso and Yenke Ronso ] [ Biran ] [ HP: 3776 ] [ Weakness: None ] [ Immune: None ] [ Yenke ] [ HP: 2832 ] [ Weakness: None ] [ Immune: None ] Use the Lancet abilities to learn all of Yenke's and Biran's abilities. Including 'Thrust Kick', 'Self-Destruct', 'Doom', 'Fire Breath', 'Aqua Breath', and 'Stone Breath' . Once this is done it's time to show who is the strongest Ronso. Use some of your new learned abilities on the Ronsos, or just defeat them using physical attacks. Heal Kimahri when he runs lon on health. Once one of the Ronsos uses Bulldoze, and they are on opposite ends, attack either Biran or Yenke. When low on HP, Yenke will cast White Wind on himself, and Biran will cast Mighty Guard on himself. After defeating one of the Ronsos, the other will cast Hast, to make the battle much more unfair. - - - After defeating Biran and Yenke, continue north into Mt. Gagazet. After meetiong with the Ronsos once more, look for a small inlet to your left and locate a treasure chest containing two 'Meg-Potion's. Continue up the slope, around the bend, up another slope and into an inet to the left to find a 'Braska's Sphere'. Return to the main path and continue following the path to the end. When the path splits, follow the path that leads to a dead end, where you will find a treasure chest containing a 'Defending Bracer'. Return to to where the path starts to split and take the other path north. Continue to follow the path. You'll eventually run into Oaka's brother, who will sell you some supplies. After buying anything you might need for the journey ahead, continue down the path. Eventually, after a lot of travelling, you'll find the exit to the next area of Mt. Gagazet. Once in the next area, continue forward where you will encounter Seymour. [ Boss: Seymour Flux ] [ Seymour Flux ] [ HP: 70, 000 ] [ Weakness: None ] [ Immune: None ] You ever recognize how on most drama series on television, there is a big bad at the end of every season? Well this is it. The worst you will see of Seymour. Before talking to Seymour, cast Hastega on your party. Also cast Reflect on each party member. Do not summon any Aeons unless they are already at Overdrive. Each time you summon an Aeon, Seymour will dismiss it. You'll want to watch out for Lance of Atrophy. After using the Lance of Atrophy, Seymour will cast Full-Life on that party member, which will kill that player instantly. I would suggest that if you don't want to have the battle of a life-time, attack the Mortiorchis. After destroying it, it will steal a sufficient amount of life from Seymour Flux to stay alive. Don't stack up on magic defense spells. Ocassionaly Seymour will cast Dispel which Dispel every spell your players currently have active. If you must use spells, make sure they end in 'Ega', which will goes towards all allies, not just one. Also watch out for 'Cross Cleave'. Seymour uses it ocassionally, which will deal over 2, 000 damage to each party member. If Seymour starts getting too many magic spells attatched to him, destroy them all using Dispel. Once it has sustained heavy damage, you'll see a window saying 'Mortiorchis ready to annihalate'. If this happens, quickly cast 'Shell' on each of your allies. There is an easier way of defeating Seymour Flux. Before the battle begins, work out your Aeons on the battle field, and get their overdrives to full. Summon each Aeon when against Seymour, use their overdrives, and you should have dealed enough damage after that to finish Seymour off more easily. - - - After you finally defeat Seymour, continue towards the red arrow. Locate the Save Sphere directly before the exit, then continue onwards towards Zanarkand. No you're not in Zanarkand yet. This is just something Tidus is experiencing. Continue along the docks, then onto the boat and into the cabin. Head towards the table in the center of the room. You'll then meet up with Fayth. Once Fayth exits, leave the room, and head out on to the upper deck. Speak with Fayth once more. After Tidus's dream ends, continue up the hill, then into the cave. Once inside, continue down the path, and towards the red arrow. You'll eventually find yourself in an underground pool. Continue north to the next area. Take a left at the fork in the road, then continue up the flight of stairs, and towards the first trial of Gagazet. The object here is to hit the red sphere inside the rotating structure. You'll only be able to hit it when there is a gap in the rotating wheel. Once you have stopped it, continue to the ledge and open the chest to recieve a 'Level 1 Key Sphere'. Return south, down the flight of stairs and return to your party's position. Follow the red arrow and continue up the newly created flight of stairs. Turn left at the fork in the road, continue down the path, then make a right when the path starts to split. After enterring the underground lake, you'll only have Wakka, Tidus, and Rikku once again. Continue to the next area and proceed north, where you will find the second trial of Gagazet. The correct order is Tidus: Blue Wakka: Red Rikku: Green After you have doen this, return to dry land and head back to where the path splits up. Now head down the path to the left. Continue north out of the cave and exit. [ Santuary Keeper ] [ Sanctuary Keeper ] [ HP: 40, 000 ] [ Weakness: None ] [ Immune: None ] The Sanctuary Keeper has high defense against physical and elemental damage. It also deals quite a bit of damage, do make sure you cast 'Protect' on your entire group. Another attack you might want to watch out for is Photon Wings. If anything, it will weaken your attacks and put your allies to sleep. Cast 'Hastega' and 'Cheer' on your group. Also use Overdrives when they become available. One of the Santuary Keeper's most powerful moves, 'Mana Breath', will deal about 3, 000 damage to one of your allies. A;so have Auron hit the Santuary Keeper with all of his 'Break' skills. Cast Reflect on the Santuary Keeper to. This will mean that you can't use magic, but whenever the Santuary Keeper casts Curaga, you'll get the full benefit. Do not cast 'Slow' on it. If you do, the Santuary Keeper will counter by casting 'Haste'. If you need to cast 'Dispel' you'll then need to cast 'Reflect' on one of your party members, then cast Dispel on that player. Also have one of your allies cast Bio on the Santuary Keeper, as it will work against it. Other than this, keep attacking the Sanctuary Keeper using Physical or Elemental Damage and you will have eventually won this battle. - - - Once the battle has finished, make your way up the mountain. Pick up the sphere that Yuna drops. After watching it, continue to the top of the mountain, then down into Zanarkand. Once there, meet up with the rest of your group. This is where the real story begins. Everything from this point on is happening in the present, not in the past. [ Zanarkand Ruins ] Follow the rest of your group into the ruins of Zanarkand. From there, follow the ruined walkway deeper into Zanarkand. Near the halfway point of the path you should eventually find a treasure chest containing a 'Fortune Sphere'. Keep moving, deeper into Zanarkand. You'll come across another treasure chest on a platform to the left of the walkway containing a 'Spiritual Targe'. Follow the path to the end of the walkway, and into the Dome. [8] [ Secrets and Side-Quests ] [ Blitzball ] [ Moving ] In Blitzball, there are five players per team in the sphere pool. The 'Overhead Map' shows all players' current positions and the direction each is facing. The ball carrier is displayed as a 'cirecled arrow' on the Map. By default, players movement is set to 'Auto', so everyone move around the pool automatically. Remember to use the 'Overhead Map' to check the players' positions. The triangular frame inside the red circle is the opposing team's goal. The goal is always on the left-hand side of the 'Overhead Map'. The ball carrier can also be used manually. To do this press the trianglular button on your controller, then select 'Manual A' or 'Manual B'. Once you have enabled 'Manual' movement, use the 'Directional Pad' on your controller or rotate the 'Left Analog Stick' in the direction you would like to go to move the ball carrier. Only the ball carrier can be moved manually. All other players remain on Auto. It also becomes more difficult to manage your teamates while manually controlling the carrier. In 'Manual A', the direction of the movement corresponds to the 'Overhead Map', In addition to 'Manual A', there is also a mode called 'Manual B'. Movement modes are only applicable when you're on offense. When you're on defense, your entire team moves on 'Auto'. [ Action Commands ] In order to make a player perform an action, you must first choose an 'Action Command'. You can open the action command window by pressing the 'Square Button' on your controller. The game pauses while the action command window is open, so you have ample time to think about your next move. There are thre available commands to choose from. These commands are 'Pass', 'Shoot', and 'Dribble'. 'Dribble' simply makes the player resume movement. [ Passing ] When attempting to make a 'Pass', a window will appear iin the upper left-hand corner of the screen, showing you the list of players you can pass the ball to. Upon selecting a reciever, a window appears in the upper right-hand corner showing that player's stats. Stats determine the outcome of each pass. Looking at the window in the upper right-hand window, you'll notice a number next to the letters, 'PA'. This number will determine the outcome of the pass. On each attempt to make a pass, the PA number will gradually decrease. The friction of the water causes the pass's PA to gradually decrease. If the PA reaches zero, the pass becomes uncatchable. When a pass fails, the ball becomes 'Loose'. A loose ball can be claimed by any player in the sphere pool. Therefore, a player with much higher PA can successfully throw longer passes. Likewise, a player with low PA often throws bad passes, giving the other team a chance at the ball. [ Shooting ] Shooting is very similar to passing. A player's shooting accuracy is displayed by the letters 'SH' in the upper right-hand window. A shot loses SH as it travels through the water, just like a pass loses PA. A shot that reaches the goal with SH of at least '1' willscore. If a shot's SH is depleted, it will fail. A 'Goalkeeper' defends the goal on each player's team. To make a shot, open the command window by pressing the 'Square Button' on your controller and select 'Shoot'. Once you have selected 'Shoot', the goalkeeper's stats appear in the upper right-hand window beneath yours. Your teammates' stats are displayed on a blue background, while the opposing team's stats are displayed on a red background. Also note the letters 'CA' in the opposing team's goalie window. These letters represent the goalkeeper's ability to catch incoming shots. To determine whether or not the ball will make a goal, we subtract the shot's SH and subtract the goalkeeper's CA. If not SH remains, then the shot fails. Also be aware that the actual CA applied here is randomized, ranging from 50 to 150 percent of the goalie's current CA. If the final SH value is less or equal to zero, the shot will fail. [ Using HP ] In Blitzball, players expend HP to perform actions. Think of HP here as stamina, because players remain concious even if their HP drops to zero. The first thing to remember is that whoever has the ball steadily loses HP while carrying the ball through the water. Each shot or pass also consumes 10 HP. In Blitzball, certain actions require a certain amount of HP. Players can still Pass or Shoot if their current HP is below the needed amount, but then their actions are only half as effective. Each player slowly regains their HP once that player no logner has the ball. [ Encounters ] An 'Encounter' occurs when opposing players come in contact with the ball carrier. If you are the ball carrier, the action command window will open. You must then decide on a course of action in the face of opposing players. You will also see the stats of the current player in the upper right-hand window. An action window will alsp appear. From this window, you'll be given two options. These optionss are 'No Break; and 'Breakthrough'. [ No Break ] By selecting 'No Break', you decide that the other player will grab the ball from you if he or she attacks. You will then be given the option to 'Pass' or 'Shoot'. Normally, by selecting 'Pass', your player would throw the ball, and the PA number would start to deplete, but in an encounter, opposing players try to block your passes and shots. Looking in the upper right0hand window, you'll see the letters 'BL'. This represents the other player's skill at blocking. The pass will lose a certain amount of PA equal to the opposing player's BL. The actual calculation is slightly randomized. If the PA falls to zero, the ball is intercepted by the opposing player. As long as the PA is at least 1, the pass will go through. Once through, the pass continues to expend PA as it travels toward the intended reciever. Some encounters will include multiple players. So long as the PA number stays above zero, the pass will be a success. When you attempt to shoot, the goalkeeper also comes in, so you are facing the number of opponents in front of you, plus the goalkeeper. Multiple defends will combine their BL, giving you a harder time to make the Pass or Shot a success. [ Breakthroughs ] By selecting 'Breakthrough' you decide that the other players are much weaker than you, and you can continue with the ball, without sending it to another player. You can decide if you want to make a breakthrough by looking at the value of your PA, and the opposing team's BL. If it seems like you can't make a successful 'No Break', then you can decide whether or not you want to make a 'Breakthrough'. If you decide you want to make a breakthrough, select the players you want to breakthrough. The ball carrier will then try to shake off defenders by breaking through their tackles. If he withstands their tackles, the breakthrough succeeds and fewer defenders remain. The opposing player will then try to tackle the ball carrier. If the ball carrier cannot withstand the tackle, that plaer will then give up the ball to the opposing team. Withstanding tackles depends on the amount of 'Endurance' you have. Endurance is markes as EN in the upper right-hand window. AT will determine how hard the tackle will hit. Subtract the AT of all the players you are breaking through, with your EN to determine the outcome of the tackle. If EN is reduced to zero, then the tackler will grab hold of the ball. From this point, you can either decide to 'Pass' or 'Shoot'. This can be determined by the opposer's BL. Combined, if it outnumbers your PA or SH, the other team will grab the ball. Break through as many defenders as you can to complete more passes and score more goals. [ Techcopy ] Playes can also learn new techniques from their opponents. This is called techcopy. First, have one of your players mark an opponent who knows a desirable technique. Now that player will keep an eye on that opponent in order to learn his techniques. Techcopy can only be learned while breaking through another player. 'Techcopy' will then appear in the upper left-hand corner of the screen when that player uses a technique in the game. Quickly press the 'X Button' and your player will have learned that technique. Players who have marked that opponent are the ones who learn his techniques. If multiple players have marked him, only one will learn at any one time. Your players may have trouble learning techniques, though if they are lower levels than their respective targets. Once you've learned a new technique, you can equip it at halftime or at the start of the next match. Remember, you will need to 'Mark' a player if you want to learn that player's technique. You can do this while setting up the game. After settings techniques for your team, you will be asked which player you want to mark. Select the player who you want to learn a technique, then select a player on the opposing team. Only techniques that are marked in blue will you be able to learn.
