Credits =============================================================================== I. What are the Celestial Weapons =============================================================================== As stated in the Introduction, the Celestial Weapons are the Ultimate Weapons in the game. They are called Celestial Weapons because in order to get them, you should have the Celestial Mirror. Also, to fully power them up, you need certain Crests and Sigils which are named from Celestial Bodies. These Celestial Weapons posses Special abilities which ordinary weapons don't. =============================================================================== II. Getting the Cloudy Mirror and the Celestial Mirror =============================================================================== Let's start by getting the most important item, the Cloudy Mirror. To get this mirror, you have to go to the Temple of Remiem found in the Calm Lands. To do so, you must mount a Chocobo and head to the Southeastern part of the Calm Lands near the Macalania forest. You should see a Chocobo feather lying there. Examine it and the Chocobo will fly down from the ledge. Dismount from the Chocobo and head north. Don't enter the temple. Head to the left wing and you should see a sphere lying there. Examine it and it will tell you to mount a Chocobo on the right wing of the temple and race the Champion Chocobo. Along the path, you'll see chests and poles. Here are the stipulations of the race: 1.) for every chest you open, your prize gets better. 2.) for every pole you hit, it's the direct opposite. Opening chests can take your Chocobo nearer to the finish line. You only need to win to get the Cloudy Mirror. It doesn't matter whether you hit a pole or open a chest. Now that we have the Cloudy Mirror, it's time to let its power grow. To do this, head to Macalania forest near the shiny and the old path. You should see a mother and her son standing. Talk to the mother multiple times and she'll tell you that her husband was suppose to meet them there. Next, you head to the place where you camped for the night. You should see a man standing and talk to him. Now, head to where the mother and her son originally were. This time the son is missing. Head to the shiny new route until you reach a Y-junction. You'll find that the kid has discovered a big egg. Once the family disappears, go near the egg-like structure and present the Cloudy Mirror by pressing O (X in the NTSC). This time, you should receive the Celestial Mirror. This egg is also where you power up your Celestial Weapons with their Crests and Sigils. =============================================================================== III. Caladbolg, Sun Crest and Sigil (same in the NTSC) =============================================================================== The Caladbolg is Tidus' Celestial Weapons and one of the hardest to power up. To get the Caladbolg, you first have to train some bird-brains. Talk to the Chocobo trainer which you would find in the Calm Lands and tell her that you would like to train some Chocobos. There are 3 stages for training Chocs. The first is the Wobbly Chocobo wherein your Chocobo runs wildly. You have to steer left and right to prevent it from running in all directions. After the Wobbly Chocobo comes the Dodger Chocobo. This time, your Chocobo runs in a straight path but there are blitzballs aiming at you. The object is to dodge them. The last of the 3 Chocobo training sessions is the Hyper-Dodger Chocobo. This part is just like the 2nd but this time, blitzballs and birds come for you. Now that you've passed all 3 training sessions, the Chocobo trainer will ask you to race her. This part is known as the Catcher Chocobo. The goal of this race is to outrun your opponent. Certain stipulations apply: 1.) For every balloon you get, 3 seconds is deducted from your time. 2.) For every bird that hits you, 3 seconds is added to your time. This means, even if you reach the finish line last, you still have a chance to win. Also, take note that whenever you get hit by a bird, your chocobo will stop for approximately 1.2 seconds. This time, you have to focus on not being hit by the birds rather than getting balloons. This should be a very easy run for you. Once you've beaten her, head to the Northwestern part of the Calm Lands. You'll see a narrow path which is usually guarded by man. This time, the man isn't there. Head down the slopy path and use the Celestial Mirror. Voila! You now have the Caladbolg. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Sun Crest (same in the NTSC) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your Caladbolg should have "No AP" as its initial ability. It's time to look for its power-ups. We must get the Sun Crest. This is located in the Zanarkand Ruins. After you've defeated Yunalesca, you'll see two flights of stairs: one heading up and one going down. Take the stairs heading up and a treasure chest will appear. Open it and you'll get the Sun Crest. For International version players, it is advisable to get this after you've beaten Yunalesca because you wouldn't want to fight Dark Bahamut without a fully-powered Caladbolg. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sun Sigil (same in the NTSC) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This time, it's back to the Chocobo trainer. You'll have to race her again. The only difference this time is you're aiming for a time of 0:0.0 or what they call a perfect time. It isn't impossible but it's going to take a lot of patience. To score the perfect time, you have to get at least 12 balloons and don't get hit by a bird. Still, this doesn't mean that if you get hit by a bird, you won't be able to get 0:0.0 as your time. Here are sample times and what you'll get if you score them: Sample Time A Finished: 0:35.57 Balloons: 12 Birds: 0 Total Time: 0:0.0 Prize: Sun Sigil Sample Time B Finished: 0:37.42 Balloons: 13 Birds: 0 Total Time: 0:0.0 Prize: Sun Sigil Sample Time C Finished: 0:36.0 Balloons: 12 Birds: 0 Total Time: 0:0.0 Prize: Turbo Ether Sample Time D Finished: 0:39.0 Balloons: 13 Birds: 0 Total Time: 0:0.0 Prize: Turbo Ether *Note* If you've noticed, samples C and D did not get the Sun Sigil even though you scored a time of 0:0.0! What this means is that you don't just have to tie the perfect time, you have to beat it. In samples A and B, the total time should've been negative(-) but the game can't display your time as a negative number. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Weapon's Abilities ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now that you have both the Sun Crest and Sigil, it's time to power it up. To perform the ritual in Macalania, present the Weapon and the upgrades and your Caladbolg should have this abilities: Break Damage Limit Triple Overdrive Magic Counter Evade & Counter =============================================================================== IV. Nirvana, Moon Crest and Sigil (same in the NTSC) =============================================================================== Nirvana is Yuna's Celestial Weapon and is perhaps the easiest to power up. Acquiring the Nirvana isn't that hard but it may take some time. When you are in the Calm Lands, visit the Calm Lands Arena and accept the Arena guy's offer. He'll ask you to catch the fiends found in the Calm Lands. Patience is a virtue and you're going to need it a lot. Once you've captured at least one of every capturable fiend in the Calm Lands, it's time to return to the Arena and claim your prize. The Arena guy will give you a treasue chest which you can only open with the Celestial Mirror. Use the Celestial Mirror and you have acquired Yuna's Celestial Weapon. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Moon Crest (same in the NTSC) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As I have mentioned, Yuna's Celestial Weapon is the easiest to power up. To get her Crest, just head to Besaid beach and swim out into the sea and turn left. You should see another small beach which has a treasure chest. Open that and you'll get the Moon Crest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Moon Sigil (same in the NTSC) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is going to take quite some time. First, you have to acquire the 3 hidden Aeons: Anima, Yojimbo and the Magus Sisters. Then, you'll have to fight Belgemine in an Aeon fight in the Temple of Remiem. Once you've defeated all of her Aeons including the Magus Sisters, choose to send her and you'll get the Moon Sigil. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Weapon's Abilities ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now that you have both the Moon Crest and Sigil, it's time to power it up. To perform the ritual in Macalania, present the Weapon and the upgrades and your Nirvana should have this abilities: Break Damage Limit Triple Overdrive Double AP One MP Cost =============================================================================== V. Masamune, Saturn Crest and Sigil (Mars in the NTSC) =============================================================================== The Masamune is Auron's Celestial Weapon and is another easy to power up. First up, we should get the Rusty Sword. To do this, head to the Calm Lands Gorge near the cave and go to the narrow path. There are two pillars standing there. Examine in between the two pillars and you shall receive the Rusty Sword. The Masamune is located in the Mushroom Rock Road. Don't enter the path to Operation Mi'ihen, instead, head forward and when you see a Y-junction, go left. You should see a lift. Take it. You'll see a statue of Mi'ihen, insert the Rusty Sword and a glyph will appear. Use the Celestial Mirror and you just got yourself the Masamune. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Saturn Crest (Mars Crest in the NTSC) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This can be found in Mi'ihen Highroad - Oldroad South. To get there, go to where Yuna and Seymour first met then head south on a slope. Just go as far south until you reach a dead end with a treasure chest. Just open it and poof! The Saturn Crest is yours. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Saturn Sigil (Mars Sigil in the NTSC) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is going to take some work. You have to catch all fiends in 6 areas. There are no specific ares to be completed as long as you complete 6. This may take a while but it isn't that hard. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Weapon Abilities ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now that you have both the Saturn Crest and Sigil, it's time to power it up. To perform the ritual in Macalania, present the Weapon and the upgrades and your Masamune should have this abilities: Break Damage Limit Triple Overdrive First Strike Counterattack =============================================================================== VI. Spirit Lance, Jupiter Crest and Sigil (Saturn in the NTSC) =============================================================================== The Spirit Lance is Kimahri's Celestial Weapon. It is also the coolest-looking weapon in the game. It is located in the Thunder Plains - South. Before you get this, you must first free the Qactuars from their slumber. Whenever you see Qactuar stone with white smoke over it, approach it and press the SQUARE button to pray. Once you've prayed to 3 Qactuar stones, a ghost Qactuar will appear. Follow the ghost and it'll lead you to a pillar. Use the Celestial Mirror and you'll receive the Spirit Lance. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jupiter Crest (Saturn Crest in the NTSC) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Get this at Mount Gagazet. After the fight with Seymour on Gagazet, you should see a path with pillars. In between the left pillars lies a treasure chest. Open it and you should get the Jupiter Crest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jupiter Sigil (Saturn Sigil in the NTSC) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This may take some practice to get. First, you must have the airship. Second, head to Macalania and take the old route. This time, you will have to complete the Butterfly hunting game. The game is played both in the Central part and the Southern end of the forest. To initiate the game, you must touch the butterfly that changes color. Then, the goal is to touch 7 blue butterflies. However, touching the red willinitiate a battle with fiends. You can do this game even without the airship but you won't be able to get the Jupiter Sigil. You have to complete the game in both areas to get the Sigil. After, you've beaten both games, head to where the treasure chest is. This time, the Jupiter Sigil is yours. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Weapon Abilities ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now that you have both the Jupiter Crest and Sigil, it's time to power it up. To perform the ritual in Macalania, present the Weapon and the upgrades and your Spirit Lance should have this abilities: Break Damage Limit Triple Overdrive Double AP Evade & Counter =============================================================================== VII. World Champion, Mercury Crest and Sigil (Jupiter in the NTSC) =============================================================================== The World Champion is Wakka's Celestial Weapon and takes the most time to power up. For you to get this, you have to play some Blitzball games. Of course you have to win. After winning around 8-10 games, head to the bar inLuca where Auron was first seen. Talk to the lady at the counter and present the Celestial Mirror. She'll then tell you that the World Champion was given to her family by High Summoner Ohalland. And thus, you have the World Champion. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mercury Crest (Jupiter Crest in the NTSC) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is located in the Aurochs' locker room. You have to search all the lockers and you'll receive the Mercury Crest. You cannot get this on your first visit to Luca. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mercury Sigil (Jupiter Sigil in the NTSC) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Again, you have to play some Blitzball. It is given as a prize in a league. You have to play and win some tournaments and leagues to get Wakka's other Overdrives. Then, once you have acquired the Aurochs' Reels, the Mercury Sigil will most likely be a prize in the next league. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Weapon Abilities ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now that you have both the Mercury Crest and Sigil, it's time to power it up. To perform the ritual in Macalania, present the Weapon and the upgrades and your World Champion should have this abilities: Break Damage Limit Triple Overdrive Double AP Evade & Counter =============================================================================== VIII. Onion Knight, Mars Crest and Sigil (Venus in the NTSC) =============================================================================== The Onion Knight is Lulu's Celestial Weapon. This is also one of the hardest to power up. To get the Onion Knight, fly to Baaj Temple after you've fought Geosgaeno. Dive to the Circular pool of water. Swim under and keep pressing O (X in the NTSC) and use the Celestial Mirror. Finally, the Onion Knight is yours to keep. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mars Crest (Venus Crest in the NTSC) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Get this in the Farplane. Head to the Farplane once you have the airship and you'll see a treasure chest containing the Mars Crest. As I have said, you can only get this once you have the airship. You can't get this on your first visit to the Farplane. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mars Sigil (Venus Sigil in the NTSC) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a very tedious task. The idea is to dodge 200 consecutive lightningbolts in the Thunder Plains. You will need a no-encounter armor here to ease it up. Then pick a good spot where lightningstrikes 3 times per 10 seconds. Stay in that spot and you should manage. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Weapon Abilities ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now that you have both the Mars Crest and Sigil, it's time to power it up. To perform the ritual in Macalania, present the Weapon and the upgrades and your Onion Knight should have this abilities: Break Damage Limit Triple Overdrive Magic Booster One MP Cost =============================================================================== IX. Godhand, Venus Crest and Sigil (Mercury in the NTSC) =============================================================================== Godhand is Rikku's Celestial Weapon. It is the easiest to get and one of the easiest to power up. Getting the Godhand is easy. Just go and talk to Cid and choose to decipher the Al Bhed Riddles. Enter "GODHAND" all in capital and a new destination becomes available. Fly to that destination and follow the trail. Use the Celestial Mirror and you'll get the Godhand. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Venus Crest (Mercury Crest in the NTSC) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's time to head to the Bikanel Island. The Crest is found inside one of the chests. Navigate your way through the desert and you'll have yourself the Venus Crest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Venus Sigil (Mercury Sigil in the NTSC) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- While you're in the Bikanel Island, head to Cactuar stone in the Sanubia desert - West. This stone will give you clues and your goal is to find all the 10 Cactuar gatekeepers. Once you find a cactuar, you have to play its little game. The idea is to sneak up behind it. Once you've bested a cactuar, you'll receive its personalized sphere. If you lose, you'll receive the Sphere del Perdedor. The more personalized sphere you bring, the better your prize is. After you've found all the cactuars and return their spheres on the Cactuar stone, the sandstorm blocking the path to the Cactuar village will be gone. Head to the village and claim your prize. The Venus Sigil is in a treasure chest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Weapon Abilities ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now that you have both the Venus Crest and Sigil, it's time to power it up. To perform the ritual in Macalania, present the Weapon and the upgrades and your Godhand should have this abilities: Break Damage Limit Triple Overdrive Double AP Gillionaire =============================================================================== X. Frequently Asked Questions =============================================================================== Q1: Your names are wrong. Check it. A1: As I have mentioned, this was based from both the NTSC and International version of the game. Q2: I scored a perfect run and got 0:0.0 as my time. But, I don't have the Celestial Mirror. What do I do? The guy guarding the path won't move. A2: There is only one thing to do, redo it again. You have to beat perfect time again. Q3: I have the Masamune but where's the Rusty Sword? A3: You've already placed it in Mi'ihen's statue. Q4: I touched all 7 butterflies in both areas but it still doesn't give me the Jupiter Sigil. What happened? A4: As I have said earlier, you should have control of the airship. Q5: If I lose in a Blitzball League/Tournament and I did not get Wakka's Overdrives and his Sigil, do I have another chance of getting them? A5: I think so. Although I have not lost a league or a tournament. Q6: Will I still be able to get the Venus Sigil even if I get 10 Sphere del Perdedor? A6: Yes. Getting personalized spheres is merely for additional prizes. =============================================================================== XI.
