You see that this is parted into parts using keywords like [^1*] (without the star. I inserted it so you wouldn’t get this if you searched for part 1) so it will be easy to find if you are going to search for it. This FAQ/Walktrough is only for the demo version of Final Fantasy X, with a little from Besaid, and Zanarkand. I will also have a complete list of monsters in this demo, and items. I will not have a list over all the weapons, only the initial equipment, because in this demo version you can get many weapons, and it’s random. And therefore there is no list over all weapons. This demo was with the PSX Final Fantasy VI, and it content may vary from this version and the final version of the game. I will list the differences I’ve found in the Walktrough section of this FAQ/Walktrough. And remember: If you have any questions about this demo, or the final version of the game, do not be afraid to mail it to me. If I find the question very good, I may even add it to the Frequently Asked Question section of this FAQ/Walktrough. My e-mail address is: www.solsen@c2i.net I have a search system in this FAQ/Walktrough, as most of the things I write. It's like this: [^N], and for the sub-sections i have [^L] N = Number (1-9) L = Letter (A-G) Hope you will enjoy this FAQ/Walktrough of the demo version of Final Fantasy X as much I enjoyed writing it. ;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;: |;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:| ;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;: <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> < CONTROLS [^3] > <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> NOTE: I will only write the buttons that have a function down here! That's about it, but if you see any more differences please e-mail me at: www.solsen@c2i.net +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ |NOTE: The demo is split into two parts. One from Zanarkand, and one from | | Besaid Island. I will go trough the parts one by one, although it's | | only two, starting with Zanarkand, and the finish off with Besaid. | | I will go a bit more into detail on this FAQ/Walktrough than others | | because this is quite short, but it's still a good look into the | | world of Final Fantasy X. | | | | There might be other demos out there on this game, perhaps in Asia | | and America. This demo is the demo that came with the PSX Version of | | Final Fantasy VI. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ +====================================+ | USELESS CHALLENGE: | | | | Get 99 of all items, 99 S.Lv. and | | get all of Tidus’ Overdrives. | | | | This only works on Besaid Island, | | where you can fight random battles | | and gain AP. | +====================================+ ========================= [^Z] ========================= Zanarkand Party: Tidus, Auron Items: Longsword Monsters: Sinscale, Sinspawn Ammes (BOSS) ========================= This part starts with an FMV. Tidus is sitting in the water, and when he opens his eyes the rock music starts pumpin’. Then Tidus is on some sort of platform, and a bright shiny light blows besides him. And so the Blitzball game starts. After a while in the pool, the scene switches to Auron. It look as if he is calling for something. A huge waterball, and you can see what it contains, rises from the sea. Auron leaves, calmly, while all the people around him run in fear of this ball that sucks to him the water Auron steps in, the houses, and everything standing in its way. The scene shifts back to the Blitzball Stadium, and when Tidus jumps high into the air to kick the ball... He sees the waterball floating in the sky. He drops, and have to hang on to whatever he’s hanging in. But he falls. It’s a wonder he didn’t die... And now the demo starts for real. This is the first FMV in the full game, and if you want to know the lyrics; Search for [^7*], but remove the star (*). When you stand up you see many people fleeing the arena, but if you wait a while, you will see a man run past you, and then a woman. And they run around over and over. They loop, but of course they go in the same tempo, so if you want to have a race, just wait until they are at the same point, and then the race will start. Well, anyway... When you feel ready to go just move south, and the camera will change a bit. You see Auron standing at the left side on the south part of the screen. Just move south and the game will take over. After a brief conversation, you follow Auron. Then you reach the highway, and the game will run it from here. Everything suddenly stop, and the time stands still. Tidus turns around, and then back again, and he wonders what the heck is going on. When he turns back, he see a small boy... You see him too, right? He will say to Tidus that he shouldn’t cry. Tidus don’t understand what he means. But if you play the full game, you will find out what he means, but I’m not gonna spoil that for you here. The boy suddenly disappear, and time flows again. Tidus run along after Auron. There you will meet up with Auron again. And he will tell you about Sin. Well, he will only say: ‘We called it “Sin”’, but anyway. A thingy unleashed by Sin will send out small thingies called Sinscale... Tidus tries to fight them off with his bare hands, but it don’t work. He’s not a good fighter. Auron will give him a sword, from his father. And he is very clumsy with it, but suddenly he acts like a pro. You only have too beat one Sinscale to get further in the game, or demo... Then you have to kill more Sinscales. There’s eleven (11) in total, and you should be fine. You, by the way, have 10 Potions and 3 Phoenix Downs. And that’s many Potions! After running a while, you encounter a large thing in the road. Now you will find out that these things’ names are Sinspawn. In the full game you encounter Sinspawns many times, and this is the easiest. This will also be your first meeting with the Overdrives. +-------------------------+---------------------+ | Sinspawn Ammes | Sinscale x5 | | HP: 2400 | HP: 100 each | | MP: 400 | MP: 0 each | | WEAK: NONE | ITEM: ---- | | AP: ---- +---------------------+ | GIL: ---- | | Difficulty: * | +-----------------------------------------------+ | This is a pathetic boss... The first thing | | that happens is that you get a message about | | Overdrives. Now you have Auron use his, and | | when you have too press buttons, this is the | | button combination you have to use: | | | | DOWN, LEFT, UP, RIGHT, L1, R1, O, X | | | | If you get it right all of the Sinscales will | | die, for sure! After that, just attack the | | Sinspawn normally, unless you get an overdrive| | because then you use it! The ONLY attack the | | monster have is Demi, which reduces your HP | | with 1/4 and you minimum HP for the battle is | | actually 3. How pathetic is that? | +-----------------------------------------------+ Now you have too run around the Boss, and follow Auron. Of course, if you want to examine the white glowy thing. It will heal you fully. This is, in the full game, a save sphere. But since this is a demo, you cannot save here. After healing just run after Auron. You will now have too fight another battle. Just kill the Sinscales until Auron turns around and start babbling about knocking some kind of machine down. Attack it with all you’ve got. Some people say it got about 1000 HP, but I think it is a matter of hits, and what types they are. Well, whatever you think, when it is knocked down, the game will take over, and a building will fall down. You are now on a thing being sucked into Sin, and Tidus cries out for help, but Auron turns around and asks Sin if it is sure... Sure about what? Go play the full game, and you’ll find out. Then Auron helps him up, saying that Tidus’ story begins here... Then the screen turns white and... ... You are finished with this part of the demo. You get a message about restarting your consol to play more... Do that, if you wish, and now take the other part of the demo, or play this part again. Personally I think this is the best part of the demo. ========================= [^B] ========================= Besaid Island Party: Tidus, Yuna, Lulu, Wakka Items: Moon Crest, Antidote (2), Ether, Phoenix Down, Seeker’s Ring, Remedy, 400 Gil Monsters: Condor, Dingo, Garuda, Kimarhi (BOSS), Water Flan ========================= When you have chosen this option, you will start at the start of a screen. You can not go back, not now, and not later, so you have to go straight upwards. The music here is calming, in opposite of the Zanarkand part, and that’s just fitting, since it’s not supposed to be like Zanarkand. I’ll tell you a bit about what has happened, so you can get a better picture of the game. After Tidus and Auron were sucked into Sin, they were taken apart to different places. Tidus ended up in some ruins, and then he was found by the Al Bhed, and after that Tidus Sin attacked the ship they where on, and Tidus fell out. He was taken to Besaid, and woke up there. And as his new friends Wakka, Lulu and Yuna are about to leave, that is were this part starts. When you go forward, something you must to get on, you will see a small blue circle on your left. If you examine it you will see this: “Something is written here. Kilika yht Bikanel zueh ye uha.” This is written in Al Bhed, and it means: “Kilika and Bikanel join as one.” In the full game you find these small and blue circles all over, one in Kilika, and one in Bikanel. When you have read both, you’ll get a code, that can be typed in on the Airship later, and it will reveal a new, and secret location. When you are ready just go straight up, and an FMV will come, and in that FMV a blue monster will show. It’s most likely a monster, but later this will be a useful friend. His name is Kimarhi Ronso, and is a Ronso. This is a boss... +-----------------------------------------------+ | Kimahri | | HP: 800 | | MP: 10 | | WEAK: NONE | | AP: 3/4 | | GIL: 100 | | Difficulty: ** | +-----------------------------------------------+ | This boss is pretty easy, just attack normal | | unless you’ve got an Overdrive, of course. | | If your HP drops below 150 use a Potion. | | | | The boss’ actual in-battle name is ???, but I | | use Kimahri because that is the real name. | | | | Kimahri have two attacks. One normal that do | | about 55 damage, and Jump that does ca. 150 | | HP worth of damage. And that is why you need | | to heal if your HP drops below 150, for you | | never know when Kimahri is going to use Jump. | | | | Other than that, this is a simple boss, that | | you should have no problems passing. You can | | die, but that is rear. That often come of | | misjudging the HP the boss’ got left, and | | it attacks with a powerful attack, and you | | don’t got the HP to survive it. | +-----------------------------------------------+ When you have dealt enough damage to the “enemy” Wakka will intercept and brake up the fight. You now learn that Kimahri is one of Yuna’s Guardians. Then you will receive AP, and Gil, and items. The items are random, and you could get something to equip, or a sphere, or maybe even one or more of both. Now just follow the path. There is no use trying to go back, because you just meet an invisible wall. In the full game, you can go back now, and then you’ll get to Besaid, the village. After following the only path for a while. You will get into a fight. Wakka wants to see Yuna fight, so you get a Toturial, and you’ll have to Summon Valefor. Just follow the instructions, and you’ll easily win the battle. After the battle just follow the path, and soon you will get into another fight. Another Garuda. Now Wakka will show you what he’s made of. You have to use a Skill to blind the enemy. Now the enemy will almost ever miss... For three rounds. After that, you have to do it again. If you want to, you can Summon Valefor to kill the enemy. After the second Garuda battle, you’ll meet random encounters. You can meet many enemies. But just continue the quest by following the path. You’ll probably meet some enemies on the road, but don’t worry. You’ve got a character for every occasion. Yuna heals, Lulu uses black magic, Wakka attacks flyers, and Tidus deal with the doggy-like enemies. And you also have Kimahri to watch your back. And he is a mixture. He have all basic Black Magic, and he have Cure. And he is also powerful. When you are finished until you hear sad music. Then it’s treasure time! Don’t follow your friends yet, but go left into the water, and then stay to the left side, and around the turn, and up on shore. Then open the treasure chest that contains the Moon Crest. Then get out of the water and go to up, past the ‘bridge’ and pass the huts on your right, and you’ll see a treasure chest. Open it to find 2 Antidotes. Now go back and over the ‘bridge’. Everyone will give you items, except the lady at the down left side, the man at the upper left side and the little girl. When you are ready just go up the ramp and onto the ship. Then a kid will come running and crying. Yuna will say goodbye to the people. And the boat will leave, then the screen turns white and... ... You are finished with this part of the demo. You get a message about restarting your consol to play more... Do that, if you wish, and now take the other part of the demo, or play this part again. You see Tidus in the water, then the music starts. You see a game of Blitzball, a sport you won’t get to know in this demo. And Auron that rises his bottle, and it seems like he is calling for something. It shoots out something and Tidus falls down, screaming. Now the game starts...) TIDUS: Auron! What are you doing here? AURON: I was waiting for you. TIDUS: What are you talking about? (Auron leaves, and Tidus will have to follow him... Everything stops, and a small boy appears.) UNKNOWN: It begins. Don’t cry. (The boy disappears and everything go back to normal.) TIDUS: What the..? Hey, wait! Not this way. AURON: Look. We called it “sin”. TIDUS: Sin? (Now the scene shifts to an FMV, with the large thing throwing out Sinscales. Tidus try to fight them off by hand, but it don’t work. Auron gives him a sword.) AURON: Take it. A gift from Jecht. TIDUS: My old man? (This is the first battle, and you have to fight your first Sinscales.) AURON: I hope you know how to use it. These ones don’t matter. We cut trough. (More fighting...) AURON: Don’t bother going after all of them. Cut the ones that matter, and run. (After the battle, the two runs along and have to face the first boss in the game.) TIDUS: Get out of my town! AURON: Some can’t wait to die! (NOW YOU GET A OVERDRIVE TOTURIAL) Overdrives When a character’s overdrive gauge beneath the HP/MP display is full, that character may use a special unique attack one time. Press [LEFT] in the command window to use an overdrive. (Now you have to use an overdrive. After that just fight the battle... But please... Do not bother to use any Potions because the boss will only use Demi.) (After the battle just follow Auron. If you want too heal yourself talk to the sphere standing close to the boss. SPHERE: HP and MP fully restored! After that you have to run along...) TIDUS: What are you laughing at old man? Auron let’s get out of here. AURON: We’re expected. TIDUS: Huh? Gimme a break, man! (Now the scene shifts to another battle.) AURON: Hmph. This could be bad. That--Knock it down! TIDUS: What? AURON: Thrust me. You’ll see. (The battle ends. And there’s a new scene followed by an FMV) AURON: Go. TIDUS: Auron! Auron! AURON: You are sure? This is it. This is your story. It begins here. (Now the Zanarkand part of the Gamescript is finished. Reset your consol to play again, or to choose another part.) <<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>> [^G] Besaid Island <<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>> (You have to go through a boss fight before the dialogue starts...) WAKKA: That's enough! TIDUS: What's with that guy? LULU: Kimahri Ronso, of the Ronso tribe. He's learned the fiends' way of fighting. TIDUS: That's not what I meant! WAKKA: He's another of Yuna's guardians. YUNA: Sometimes we don't understand him either. Kimahri doesn't talk much anyway. YUNA: But he has protected me since I was a child! (When you enter another battle, there will be a conversation, and some Tutorials. You will get trough the battle easily.) TIDUS: A flyer. That’s your department, right? WAKKA: True, true, but uhh... Why don’t we let our Summoner show us what she’s made of? (Now you’ll see a little tutorial about switching party members, and it goes like this: Switching Members during Battle: Press L1 during battle to switch in a character not currently being used. Just switch them in, and they’re ready to go! After you switch with Yuna, you will see a small conversation.) WAKKA: Your first real battle. Let’s see some style! LULU: Show us what your training has taught you, Yuna! YUNA: Okay. (Now you will see a tutorial about Summoning Aeons. It looks like this: Summoning Aeons Use the Summon command to have Yuna call an Aeon to aid her in battle. Only Yuna can summon Aeons. Use it when you need help against tough opponents. When aeons take damage, their HP decreases. Should their HP reach 0, they will leave battle and become unavailable for a time. Aeons recover HP at Save Spheres. Now you have to summon Valefor...) (After the battle you will receive Gil, and stuff. Then in the next battle, that’s also against a Garuda this will happen...) WAKKA: Another one of those? Leave this one to me, ya? Say good night, birdie. (There is a save sphere here too!. SPHERE: HP and MP fully restored! After that you have to run along...) (I will not list the lines of the characters on the beach, but when you get on the boat the game will take over...) Yuna: Goodbye. (Now the Besaid Island part of the Gamescript is finished. Reset your consol to play again, or to choose another part.) +============================================================================+ |============================================================================| +============================================================================+ <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> < OTHERWORLD LYRICS [^3] > <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> This is the only song you hear with voices in this demo of Final Fantasy X, and therefore I decided to add the lyrics for it. In the full game you’ve also got Suteki da Ne (Isn’t it beautiful) and The Hymn of the Fayth. So here goes. The lyrics for Otherworld. Oh, and if you find any faults in it, just mail me. My e-mail address is at the top of this FAQ/Walktrough. Composer: Nobuo Uematsu Lyrics by: Alexander O. Smith ------------------------------ Go on if you want it. An otherworld awaits you. Don't you give up on it. You bite the hand that feeds you. All alone cold fields you wander. Memories of it, cloud your sight. Fills your dreams, disturbs your slumber. Lost your way, a fallen knight. Hold now, aim is steady. An otherworld awaits you. One thousand years. You ready? The otherworld it takes you Go into the sand and the dust in the sky Go now, there's no better plan than to do or to die Free me pray to the faith in the face of the light Feed me fill me with sin now get ready to fight You know you will You know you will You know you know you know you know that you will You know you know you know you know that you will Fight fight fight Fight fight fight Fight fight fight Fight fight fight Hope dies and you wander. The otherworld it makes you. Dreams they rip asunder. The otherworld it hates you. Free now ride up on it. Up to the heights it takes you. Go on if you want it. An otherworld awaits you. ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// / FAQ [^5] / / Frequently Asked Questions / ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// This part will be divided like this: Q: The question, you, or I have asked. (My questions will be the initial ones, and all what I can think of, but you can contribute questions too!) A: The answer, you, or I have answered. (My answers will be the initial ones, and the answers I can think of, but you can contribute answers too! So if you think I have answered a question in a wrong way, and wish to see it redone, you can send in how it could be, and I will check my answer, and possibly replace it with another.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q: Why did you write a FAQ/Walktrough for a demo? A: Because I saw someone do it for Final Fantasy VII, and by coincident I saw there weren’t one for the Final Fantasy X Demo, so I decided to do that. Not fully a coincident, because my Norwegian FAQ/Walktrough of the game is right above it, so I saw it because I was scrolling down to my FAQ/Walktrough, and then I saw the one of the Demo. And that is why I’ve taken time to write this. ---------------- Q: Why did you make a useless challenge? A: Because I wanted the ones that have to do such things to get an idea, but it’s of course not really useful, because if you don’t take screenshots, you have no evidence of doing it. I just wanted someone to take the challenge... ---------------- Q: Why do you have to reset your consol? Why don’t it work by pushing L1-L2-R1-R2-Start-Select? A: Simply... I have no idea why... If anyone knows why, please e-mail me at: www.solsen@c2i.net --------------- Q: Do you like the Final Fantasy series? And what’s your favourite Final Fantasy? A: Yeah. The FF-series is the best! And my favourite Final Fantasy game is Final Fantasy VII, because the story and music (everything) is great! --------------- Q: Why can’t you move around on the Sphere Grid, when you gain Sphere Levels? A: I don’t know. Well, actually, I think I know the reason. Because it’s a short demo, and it’s much coding to add if they were going to have it. It’s simply useless. --------------- Q: You doun't have random encounter, not in Zanarkand nor on Besaid, so isn't your useless challenge a bit too useless? A: No, you can get into random encounters, after the Garuda-fights on Besaid. You can also restore your HP and MP on the Save Sphere, on the screen where the boat is, so it's not too useless, just extremly useless... ============================================================================== [ CREDITS [^1] ] ============================================================================== -GameFAQs, for hosting this FAQ/Walktrough -CJayC for making GameFAQs -The wonder called internet -SquareSoft (now Square Enix), for making the game Final Fantasy X -SquareSoft (now Square Enix), for making this demo of Final Fantasy X -Sony, for making the PlayStation 2 -Scream, for making the FAQ/Walktrough of the FF7 demo that gave me the idea -Wingly, for making this FAQ/Walktrough (that’s me!) -BZer0, for letting me borrow his demo and for informing me of an error -The people at spillegal.no, for being so supportive ________________________________________________________ This document is copyright Tomas Stensby Olsen (c) 2003.
