A full walkthrough for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I got this game for my birthday on October 28, 2004 and started the walkthrough the same day. Hopefully I will be able to write the best possible walkthrough for this game, it will be hard juggling 30 hours a week of work plus college, plus playing, and finally writing, but I hope I am up for it. ·--------------------------------· | Copyright Notice - search.copy | ·--------------------------------· This FAQ is copyright information of its author, Mike Truitt. Every one of the games has stirred up controversy due to the excessive violence and sexual content. Expect the same from this game. The basic idea of the game is for you to control your player, named CJ to becoming the greatest villain the world has ever known. As with other Grand Theft Auto games, accomplishing this task will certainly not come without challenge. Good luck. ·---------------------------· | Controls - search.control | ·---------------------------· _________ | On Foot | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ ·----------------------------------------------------· | D-Pad Up | Flash your gang sign | | D-Pad Left | Respond negatively to other people | | D-Pad Right | Respond positively to other people | |---------------+------------------------------------| | Left Joypad | Control your character | | | Manual aim when shooting handguns | | Right Joypad | Change camera angle | |---------------+------------------------------------| | Start Button | Pause game | | Select Button | Change camera position | |---------------+------------------------------------| | X Button | Run (Tap for faster running) | | Circle | Attack | | | Dive (when walking in water) | | Triangle | Enter vehicle | | | Skip cell phone call | | Square | Jump | | | Climb up (when hanging) | |---------------+------------------------------------| | R1 | Auto aim weapon | | R2 | Scroll through weapons | | R3 | Watch your back | | L1 | Shoot (When auto-aimed on target) | | | Answer Cell Phone | | L2 | Scroll through weapons | | L3 | Squat | ·----------------------------------------------------· _________ | On Bike | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ ·----------------------------------------------------· | D-Pad Up | Flash your gang sign | | D-Pad Down | Wheelie | | D-Pad Left | Respond negatively to other people | | D-Pad Right | Respond positively to other people | |---------------+------------------------------------| | Left Joypad | Control your bike | | Right Joypad | Change camera angle | |---------------+------------------------------------| | Start Button | Pause game | | Select Button | Change camera position | |---------------+------------------------------------| | X Button | Accellerate | | Circle | Shoot gun strait ahead of you | | Triangle | Get off bike | | Square | Brake (When moving) | | | Reverse (When held at stop) | |---------------+------------------------------------| | R1 | Brake | | R2 | Look to your right | | R3 | none | | L1 | Bunny hop | | L2 | Look to your left | | L3 | none | |---------------+------------------------------------| | R2 + Circle | Shoot gun to your right | | L2 + Circle | Shoot gun to your left | | R2 + L2 | Watch your back | ·----------------------------------------------------· ____________ | Inside Car | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ ·--------------------------------------------------------· | D-Pad Up | Scroll through radio | | D-Pad Down | Scroll through radio | |---------------+----------------------------------------| | Left Joypad | Steere the car | | Right Joypad | Change camera angle | |---------------+----------------------------------------| | Start Button | Pause game | | Select Button | Change camera position | |---------------+----------------------------------------| | X Button | Acceleration | | Circle | Activate NO2 (when equipped) | | | Dive (when walking in water) | | Triangle | Exit vehicle | | Square | Brake | | | Reverse (when stopped) | |---------------+----------------------------------------| | R1 | Emergency brake | | R2 | Look to your right | | R3 | Activate R3 missions (when applicable) | | L1 | Drive by (with circle) | | L2 | Look to your left | | L3 | Horn | |---------------+----------------------------------------| | R2 + Circle | Shoot to your right | | L2 + Circle | Shoot to your left | | R2 + L2 | Watch your back | ·--------------------------------------------------------· ·=============================================================================· | Section 4.00 STORYLINE WALKTHROUGH search.story | ·=============================================================================· Due to the fact that most of the missions in the game are broken up into smaller, submissions many of my mission briefs will include multiple sets of objectives and instructions. However, since you are only given one reward no matter how many submissions there are, there will only be one spot for the rewards given. You should also note that there are a large number of things that can be done on the side between missions. At any time during the game you can do any of the available 'Odd Job' missions, however, this area is for the storylined walkthrough of the game. I musts also warn you that I have never been a fan of 'Spoiler-less Walkthroughs' thus in this guide I will include a basic synopsis of the story in the mission and prior to the mission. If you are concerned about having a part of the game spoiled for you, do not read ahead in the FAQ. ·----------------------------· | The Beginning - Los Santos | ·----------------------------· After leaving his hometown for five years, Carl Johnson (CJ) is forced to go back to his hometown, San Andreas, after hearing about the murder of his mother. When he gets back to the airport, the police recognize him and everything goes downhill from there. They take his money, leave him with only the clothes on his back, and the two corrupt policemen who do this, link him with a gun that was used to kill an officer, which will only complicate matters worse. Not only are you stranded, but you are in your rival gang's territory, unarmed. Not good for you CJ. ·------------------------------· | Mission 01: In The Beginning | ·------------------------------· ___________________ | Objective / Story | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Get on the bike and ride safely to your mother's house. ______________ | Instructions | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ As any game starts out, this mission is quite simple. As soon as the sceene ends, there will be a bike right in front of you. Jump onto the bike and start peddling by holding down the X Button. From there look at the map in the bottom left corner of the screen, you should see a yellow blip. Ride your bike in that direction and after a minute or so you should be at your old house. _________ | Rewards | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ None ·-----------------------· | Mission 02: Big Smoke | ·-----------------------· ___________________ | Objective / Story | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ While in his mom's house, CJ starts to have flashbacks and while he is taking a rest an old buddy of his comes in and is about to start some ruckus. However, after recognizing CJ they get to talking and they go to the cemetary to meet up with CJ's brother, Sweet. While there CJ and Sweet get into a fight about his old issues, but this argument doesn't last long because as they are fighting the Ballas (the rival gang) takes out Big Smoke's new car via drive by shooting. You must quickly get onto your bicycle and get away from the Ballas before they kill you. ______________ | Instructions | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Follow your brother around and stay away from the Ballas, make sure you are peddling fast by rapidly hitting the X button. As long as you do not wreck too many times you should be alright. ___________________ | Objective / Story | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ After you get to a certain point, Sweet will create a diversion so that the Ballas will go after him and the rest of your gang can get away easier. Once he splits from the group you will now have to follow another member named Ryder. Simply follow him to for a while and your mission will be completed. _________ | Rewards | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Respect: 03 Odd Job: BMX Challenge ·-------------------· | Mission 03: Ryder | ·-------------------· ___________________ | Objective / Story | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ After completing the previous mission you are shown how to save your game and such. Walk over to your neighbor's house with the red marker in the front yard. You will find out that your boy Ryder is lets just say a little bit mad at a local pizza parlor for covering up your gangs tags. You must go out and teach them not never to mess with the Grove family. ______________ | Instructions | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Once you get out of Ryder's house drive to the blip on the map to get a true gangster haircut. Once you walk inside you will be told to sit down in the barber's chair. You will be given the following choices of haircuts. ·-------------------------. | OLD REECE'S BARBER SHOP \ |---------------------------·---------------------------------------· | Hair Cut Style | Price | Respect Increase | Sex Appeal Increase | |------------------+-------+------------------+---------------------| | Afro | $0150 | 15 Percent | 10 Percent | | Afro and Beard | $0250 | 20 Percent | 05 Percent | | Afro and Goatee | $0300 | 20 Percent | 00 Percent | | Afro and Stash | $0200 | 20 Percent | 05 Percent | | Cesar | $0050 | 05 Percent | 15 Percent | | Cesar and Beard | $0080 | 10 Percent | 1o Percent | | Cesar and Goatee | $0100 | 10 Percent | 00 Percent | | Cesar and Stash | $0050 | 10 Percent | 10 Percent | | Cornrow | $0500 | 30 Percent | 30 Percent | | Flat Top | $0500 | 25 Percent | 25 Percent | | High Fade | $0150 | 20 Percent | 20 Percent | | Jheri Curl | $0350 | 05 Percent | 25 Percent | ·-------------------------------------------------------------------· Naturally if you are going for the best possible stats then you would want to get some cornrows, however, the most economical choice for the time being is the high fade giving you a high increase in both respect and sex appeal while still being one of the most inexpensive. After you get your haircut, Ryder will tell you to go eat some food across the street. Go inside and pick your food from the following menu. ·-----------------------. | WELL STACKED PIZZA CO. \ |-------------------------·----------· | Menu Item | Cost | Fat Increase | |--------------+------+--------------| | Buster | $002 | 01 Percent | | Double D-Lux | $005 | 02 Percent | | Full Rack | $010 | 03 Percent | | Salad Meal | $010 | 00 Percent | ·------------------------------------· ___________________ | Objective / Story | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ After eating your meal Ryder hops out of his seat and goes to rob the clerk, who just so happened to be preparded for such an event and whips out his 'little friend' and tries to blow your heads off. You gotta get outta there and fast! ______________ | Instructions | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Run out to your car and wait for the clerk to come out. Once he does run his ass over. Doing so will not only make the mission much easier, but will also give you a free shotgun. If your car happens to get destroyed, jack another and then take your time getting back to Ryder's house (which is shown as a yellow blip on the map). _________ | Rewards | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Missions: Sweet Respect: 03 ·-----------------------------· | Sweet Missions - Los Santos | ·-----------------------------· After completing the previous sets of missions a new marker location will show up on the map. It is right down the street from the previous one. They are for your brother Sweet. He basically has you do more missions that teach you gameplay elements and so on, but eventually these missions get more along the lines of classic Grand Theft Auto missions. It wouldn't be a bad idea to go out and find some guns and armor and such to help you out with the missions. Make sure that you save your game after you complete every mission and at other times you feel are important so that you don't waste two hours of playing because of something stupid. ·------------------------------· | Mission 01: Tagging Up Turf | ·------------------------------· ___________________ | Objective / Story | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Before this mission starts you will get a cell phone call sometime from Sweet telling you that there was a big gang split a while back and that your old color, green, no longer represents a friendly gang in all cases. When the gangs split it lead to the eventual empowerment of the Ballas and Vagos. All over the city people are tagging up turf that should be yours. Your duty in this mission is to go around and tag over the tags of your enemies, claiming that land is your land. ______________ | Instructions | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ You gotta get into your car and drive around. You will see a few spots on the map. Simply drive there and you will be given your instructions on what you should do. When you see a tag, hold down R1 and then use the circle button to spray over existing tags. After you tag up a few walls there will be a couple of Ballas ready to attack you for marking up their territory. At this point you should spray them in the face with the paint. You should only spray it for a second or two, just enough time to go and tag the spot near them then run. If you were to kill them the cops would come after you, only complicating the situation. After that whold deal you will be given instructions to go and get more tags. The last can be a bit difficult, you have to climb up onto a building. After spay painting your second set of tags, go back to the crib and you're done. _________ | Rewards | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Money: $200 Odd Job: Marking Tags Respect: 03 Weapon: Spray can (In the bedroom of the Johnson house) ·-------------------------------· | Mission 02: Cleaning the Hood | ·-------------------------------· ___________________ | Objective / Story | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Ryder is getting pretty damn mad about what has been going down in the hood. There are crack dealers all over the place targeting the children and just bringing the community down. When you go over to one of your boys' house you find out that one of the hardest guys in the hood has now become a crack fein. ______________ | Instructions | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ After the cutscene Ryder asks you to go with him to take a few of the dealers out. Go to the small dot on the map. When you are there, you should see a guy dealing crack. Kill him, and take his baseball bat. Once you do that, you will be further instructed to go to a crack house and kick the crap out of everyone there. Once you kill them, go back to Sweets house and the mission is over. _________ | Rewards | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Money: $200 Respect: 03 ___________________ | Objective / Story | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ After you finished this mission, you recieved a phone call from your PO telling you not to leave town. ·------------------------· | Mission 03: Drive-Thru | ·------------------------· ___________________ | Objective / Story | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ After walking into the marker outside Sweet's house all of your boys come out talking about how hungry they are. They all decide that they should go to the local Cluckin' Bell. ______________ | Instructions | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Simply follow the blip on the map until you get to the Cluckin' Bell drive through. You all will make your orders, but as you are picking up food, you notice that the Ballas pull up and you chase after them trying to shoot them. From there do anything you can to blow up there car. The easiest way to do this is wait for them to come to a turn and then ram them into a building while your posse shoots them. If you blow up their car, they may get out, so you will still have to drive them over in order to complete the mission. _________ | Rewards | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Money: $200 Odd Job: Gym Respect: 05 ___________________ | Objective / Story | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ After completing this mission you will reviece a cell phone call from your brother telling you that if you want to be a true gangster, you have to look like one. It will also give you a small boost in respect. It should be noted that there are a few restrictions that you need to follow while in the gym. If you plan on building muscle, you will also need some fat on you. If you have no fat then working on the treadmill, stationary bike, or swimming will end up burning away your muscle. Be mindful of this so you do not become counterproductive with your workouts. ·----------------· | Los Santos Gym | ·----------------· ___________ | Treadmill | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ The first machine that you should see when walking into the gym is a treadmill on your right. Go up to the machine and press Triangle to get on the machine. Once you have selected that option you will be given ten options for what level you should practice on. Level one is the easiest, while ten is the hardest. You will notice results better when you do the harder levels. To run simply tap the X button as quick as possible, you will notice a guage of 'Power' below CJ's money level, if that bar runs out then you will fall off of the treadmill. If you are running low on the bar, or too high then you can use the right and left D-Pad button to decrease or increase the level, respectively. _____________ | Bench Press | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ The next machine that you will notice on your right is the bench press machine. When you go up to the machine you will be given a set of options ranging from 40 pounds to 320 pounds. In order to get the weight up you have to alternate tapping the X and Circle buttons. If you fill the power bar you will have made one successful rep. Keep benching to build up your muscle levels which increases your sex appeal and causes you to do more damage when you attack someone by hand. ______________ | Free Weights | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Next along the line of exercise spots is a set of free weights. Pick up the weights and you will be given a set of options that determine the amount of weight that you are going to curl. The numbers range from 20 pounds to 110 pounds. Just like the bench press you are going to alternate between the X and Circle buttons to complete a rep. _________________ | Stationary Bike | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Similar to the treadmill, the stationary bike builds up your stamina and burns your fat. After getting on the bike you will be given a set of options for what level you would like to exercise at ranging from easy (Level 1) to hard (Level 10). Simply tap the X button as quickly as possible to keep riding the bike. This trick can be done over and over while they are on the ground to really destroy an opponent. ______________ | Combo Attack | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ This attack is a great one when you want to start a fight with some people but do not have many weapons to work with. Run up to the person and hold R1, then tap the Triangle button like crazy to destroy your opponent. ·--------------· | Marking Tags | ·--------------· With the comming of GTA:SA Rockstar did away with the hidden packages. Instead, they have added a feature where you are going to have to mark your gangs territory over spots where other gangs have marked theirs. There are 100 tags throughout the city, so it is in essence the exact same thing as the hidden packages. The locations of the tags will be written in a future update, once the main walkthrough is complete. ·-------------· | R3 Missions | ·-------------· GTA:SA continues with the tradition of giving the player an incredible amount of extra things to do on the side. One of the most popular things to do are the R3 side missions. They give you incredible items or increase your health and armor. More often than not they are simply a test of monotony than actual skill in game play. ·-------------· | Firefighter | ·-------------· ___________ | Objective | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Your goal for these missions is to put out fires that have been started throughout the city. ______________ | Instructions | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ In order to do this you must first enter a fire truck then press the R3 button. Once this is done, you should see a spot on the map drive there. When you get there, aim your hose at the fire by using the right joystick as an aiming device and then spray the fire out by hitting the Circle button. After doing that there may be people on fire, you must also extinguish them in order to have successfully put out that fire. With each increasing level you get more time, but also have more fires to extinguish. There are a total of 12 levels that you must complete in order to fully complete the mission. ________ | Reward | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Abilty: Fireproof on foot Money: Variable ·-----------· | Paramedic | ·-----------· ___________ | Objective | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ People in San Andreas are having emergencies, and you are the only one who can help them. Bring them to the hospital for so they can live. ______________ | Instructions | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Enter an ambulance at any time during the game and activate the missions by hitting R3. Doing so will injure someone in San Andreas. You will see a dot on the screen that represents them. Drive to them and stop, this will cause them to get into the ambulance. Simply drive to the hospital and they will get out. Every time you complete a level you will have one more person that you must take to the hospital. In the very last level you get to there will be 12 people that will need your attention. If you are able to help them all out, then your mission has been completed. ________ | Reward | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Abilty: Health max increase to 150 ·-------------· | Taxi Driver | ·-------------· ___________ | Objective | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Due to the incredible rate at which cars are stolen in San Andreas, many residents figured out it would just be easier to take taxi cabs wherever they needed to go rather than take the risk of their car being stolen. Your mission is to drive them to their destination in a timely fashion. ______________ | Instructions | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ After stealing a taxi, jump in it and start driving. Activate your missions by hitting R3. There will be a large number of dots on the screen, simply drive up to one of those dots and stop. After stopping, a person will get into the car and tell you where to go. Drive them to their destination (another dot on the screen) and repeat the process. Doing these missions is a great way to learn a new area while putting some nice coin in your pocket. I would certainly recommend that if you are not going for a speed game, you should try a few missions. After dropping off a total of 50 passengers (not necessarily consecutive) you will be given your reward. ________ | Reward | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Money: Variable Upgrade: Taxis with NO2 ·-----------· | Vigilante | ·-----------· ___________ | Objective | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ You are now playing the good guy. There are criminals ruining the great city of San Andreas, and you've finally had enough. You must go around the city and kill the criminals that get in your way. ______________ | Instructions | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Get into any law enforcement vehicle that you can. Once you do, activate the missions... you know the whole deal here. Once you get to the dot (this is the first mission that you will have where the dot moves) kill the person, this is easily done by running them over or blowing up their car if they are in it. You could also have your gang members with you so you can drive by him and cap him. Each level that is completed adds another criminal to the mix. After twelve levels you will receive your reward. The vigilante missions, in the past have been the easiest way to get a ton of cash quickly once you get to really high levels (I haven't tested this yet, so I can not guarantee anything) ________ | Reward | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Ability: Armor max increase to 150 Money: Variable ****************************************************************************** ****************************************************************************** ****************** MORE TO COME ON A (HOPEFULLY) DAILY BASIS ***************** ****************************************************************************** ****************************************************************************** ·=============================================================================· | Section 6.00 NOTES AND THANKS search.thank | ·=============================================================================· First off let me just say that a great deal of gratitude is expressed towards all webmasters on the Internet that spend their priceless time and hard earned money for the sole purpose of allowing people from all different walks of life, come together and discuss and help each other with video games.
