Tips – Easiest mission, if you can not do this one, you have problems, and should give up now, just follow the directions given to you (Hold X and Square and use your left analog stick to turn left or right and complete a full circle) -------------- 4.2 - The 180 -------------- Total Time: 0:10s Vehicle Provided: Blista Compact Difficulty: 2/10 What you need for gold: You need to complete the 180 in the time allotted, and not hit any cones (take any damage) and must also park perfectly in the square cones at the end of the track. Tips – Since I’m pretty sure everyone uses the handbrake for turning at one point or another, this should be fairly easy. Just floor it into the turn but hit R1 at about the middle of the first part of the turn and slide around the turn smoothly. Floor it when you’ve straightened out, and into the end markers. The hardest part of this test is most likely parking. If you have at least 3 seconds left, just ease into it park right in the center of it. Piece of Cake. ------------------------ 4.3 - Whip and Terminate ------------------------ Total Time: 0:05s Vehicle Provided: Banshee Difficulty: 2.5/10 What you need for gold: Complete the course in the time allotted with no damage and impeccable parking. Tips - Basically the same as the 180, just floor it into the turn and powerslide into it. Moving into the outside part of the cones before the turn helps to make a more controlled powerslide. Again, the hardest part of the mission is parking. You will probably only have 2 seconds max to park so you have to either control your car properly around the turn or cross your fingers, but it’s fairly easy anyway. --------------------- 4.4 - Pop and Control --------------------- Total Time: 0:05s Vehicle Provided: Police Difficulty: 4/10 What you need for gold: Complete the course in the time allotted with no damage and impeccable parking. Tips - This one is a little more random and uncontrolled than the previous three. First, floor it until you are just about to hit the spikes, at this point, let go of X and let your tires pop. Right after your tires pop, hold X again and try to control the erratic steering, which isn’t that hard. **DO NOT HOLD X THROUGH THE SPIKES, YOUR CONTROL GOES AWRY IF YOU DO** If you are having trouble keeping control of it after your tires are popped, slow down a bit and only lightly turn the analog stick and you’ll be fine. Again, the hardest part of this mission is most likely parking in my opinion. The erratic controls make it even harder this time. You do not have time to park properly so just keep the car as straight as possible and park in the middle of the cones. ------------------ 4.5 - Burn and Lap ------------------ Total Time: Unlimited Vehicle Provided: Banshee Difficulty: 10/10 What you need for gold: Complete the course in below a low 35 seconds (ex. 35.124 s) and have no damage acquired. Tips - Guys, I’m going to flat out tell you, this may be the hardest one you are going to have to do. To beat this in the low 35’s or high 34’s is nearly impossible but I’m going to try to help you. Firstly, never let go of X unless you are about to hit a cone and must brake. Otherwise, powerslide the entire time. To get this unholy time, you must either go on the outside edge of the course and turn into the inside all 10 times, or go on the inside edge of the course and turn outside, all while powersliding. If you screw up your routine too many times, you might as well just give up, and start again. My best tips is though, don’t get too frustrated, because all that does is make you more impatient and less controlled. If you feel yourself getting annoyed, go do something else because it only gets worse. If your thumb starts to hurt from turning too much, switch to the other way (i.e. if you’re going clockwise, change to counter clockwise). *************** Additional Tips *************** Chad Gillenwater Sent this in "On the Burn and Lap, don't use Emergency brake! The brake in the faster cars (like the banshee) are more precise and you can still whip the car around, much faster than you can with the emergency brake. I did the Burn and Lap in the low 34's after a few tries." --------------- 4.6 - Cone Coil --------------- Total Time: 0:10s Vehicle Provided: Banshee Difficulty: 5.5/10 What you need for gold: Complete the course in the allotted time without any damage and impeccable parking. Tips – This one is almost fun, plus you need a break from Burn and Lap. It’s simple weaving, so just floor it and weave through the openings (if you do it good enough you shouldn’t have to brake at all). There is also no need to powerslide until you get to the far end of the course where you must powerslide around one little cone and go back to the start. This powerslide is easy, but if you find yourself flying into cones when you slide, slow down a bit before you reach it, but be aware that you are hard-pressed for time this challenge so use it wisely. Parking plus the small time limit make this mission moderately hard but certainly one of the easier ones. You have no time to park (literally, you might have 2 seconds if you’re lucky) so you kind of have to go in straight and hope that you parked in the middle. On to the next one! -------------- 4.7 - The '90' -------------- Total Time: 0:05s Vehicle Provided: Banshee Difficulty: 8.5/10 What you need for gold: Complete a ‘90’ perfectly in the center of both cars without damaging yourself or them in the time allotted. *Note* Don’t even try to parallel park without powersliding, you don’t have enough time) Tip – Welcome to the luckiest challenge of the driving school. All you have to do is powerslide the car between the other two cars. Simple eh? WRONG. Guide your car slightly to the left or right of the center path and then powerslide into the space. A good tip is to use the skid marks that you left behind previously. If you got a good one (90% or above) then follow the skid mark but alter your course slightly, and it helps alot. Good luck with this one. *************** Additional Tips *************** Chad Gillenwater Sent this in "On the "The '90'" you don't have to go full speed, in fact if you find some videos of people doing the emergency brake parking technique, they usually only go 30-35mph. Press the gas only partially down and line the left side of your car up to about the very front edge of the right parked car (adjust a tad to get it right). Takes a couple tries, but much easier and requires less "luck" to do it. Can get 90+ consistently once you get the hang of it!" ------------------- 4.8 - Wheelie Weave ------------------- Total Time: Unlimited Vehicle Provided: Banshee Difficulty: 5.5/10 What you need for gold: To complete the course with minimal damage. Tips - To keep this baby up on two wheels, just floor it up the little ramp you are given and use the method of overturn to keep it up on two wheels. Overturn is basically a tool to help you if you find yourself falling one way too much. If you are moving too much to the left for instance, move your analog stick to the left to keep it up on two wheels and vice versa. The only problem is, when you do this, your car turns a little bit, and you are no longer heading straight into the red marker, so you must guide it into the center again. Parking, yet again, is your main concern. You must park straight and in the center of the marker to get 100%. You are allowed to take small damages in this one (like 1% or 3% or so) and still get gold. ----------------- 4.9 - Spin and Go ----------------- Total Time: 0:05s Vehicle Provided: Taxi Difficulty: 3/10 What you need for gold: Complete the course in the time allotted without any damage. Tips - This one is also very fun. You must at first go in reverse (use R2 and L2 to see behind you) and turn straight via a 180 and then park. Based on whether you are are going clockwise or counter-clockwise you must turn right or left to turn around without hitting a cone. If you find yourself about to hit a cone (like when you are turning) brake quickly and turn accordingly, and continue. There is very little room for error in this one so be prepared to try again if you screw up. A little practice goes a long way. ***************** Additional Tips ***************** This tip was sent to me by Floppy He wrote "You shouldnt release square until the car is straight going the opposite direction, i.e. dont try to e-brake the turn, power through it." ---------------------- 4.10 - P.I.T. Maneuver ---------------------- Total Time: Unlimited but ends if opposing car goes past the line. Vehicle Provided: Police Difficulty: 6.5/10 What you need for gold: To complete the challenge before the opposing car reaches the "Finish Line" with no damage. Tips - This one is pretty easy, all you have to do is stop the opposing police cruiser by hitting it at a 45 degree angle from the left or right. Refer to the diagram below for an estimated trajectory of a right side hit. When you hit it at this 45 degree angle it should react to it by turning sideways. Keep your car pressed against it like a "T". Now, the damage is kind of weird, some times you get hurt, sometimes you don’t so I think you just have to hope (not sure). |--| |PC| - Opposing Car /| | Trajectory - / ---------------- 4.11 - Alley OOP ---------------- Total Time: 0:05s Vehicle Provided: Banshee Difficulty: 6.5/10 What you need for gold: Complete a barrel roll off the ramp in the allotted time with no damage. Tips - This ones fun because you get to crash cars. Again, practice makes perfect but I can speed your way to a gold. First of all, floor it when it begins, line yourself up to have only two wheels on the side of the ramp when you approach it. When you hit the ramp, let go of X and use the left analog stick to adjust your pitch (or which way you want your roll to go).Try to land flat on your wheels by not letting the barrel roll go past its original position. There is some degree of parking in this mission but if you complete the barrel roll right, you shouldn't be outside of it. -------------------- 4.12 - City Slicking -------------------- Total Time: Unlimited Vehicle Provided: Super GT Difficulty: 9/10 What you need for gold: You Need to finish in a time of 1:40 and take no damage. Tips - Do not look at the time at all. Do NOT. It is not important enough to move your eyes away from traffic. Now for the route you take. It seems this game is sometimes programmed to have cars appear cutting off precious shortcuts. When you speed out of the school, stay on the road, do not try and skip that corner, because 99% of the time, a car comes creeping along. Anyway, stay on this road, right smack dab in the middle, on the tracks. Now, you are not going to follow this to the end. I have a better way. Take a right one the road that has the Fast Food Place. Now, take the next left. following this road all the way down. Take a left at the end, then another left at the place with the marker. Speed up this hill and tilt your camera so you can see for traffic. Follow this road all the way down till you hit the road with the Taco place again. Take a right, then a left back onto the main road. Follow it back to the school. Be careful pulling back into the school, because if you jump the curb there, it counts as damage, so pull in normally. And that’s all, keep practicing that route and you should learn the traffic patterns and when to speed and when to slow down. Then that gold is yours. ***************** Additional Tips ***************** This tip was sent to me from Boag Himself He wrote "From your start point, swing a 90 degree right and down the hill (take it slow or you lose control) and across the train tracks. Take the first left and put on full power down this entire straight. This takes you directly down the outer road of the city very quickly (took me 40 secs after a few tries). Then, when you come to the red marker follow the curving road up and you basically have a straight line to get back to the school, so put on full power, make sure you dont hit any cars and it will take you straight into the marker pretty much. I find this method more effective since the return journey leads you straight into the marker" ******************* Additional Tips #2 ******************* Thanks to zerocool He sent me this tip "In the driving school mission "city slicking" do not pess "x" and start right away instead wait several seconds several cars will usualy pop out at the most inopotune moment. wait for them to show up befor starting your run and you can most often shoot right by them with no problem, saving you time and damage." ****************** Additional Tips #3 ****************** I havnt tried this one out myself but sounds good Thanks for this tip cant remember who sent it in. "First, here's a novel way to complete the course. Take a right out of the school, and go down the hill. But instead of crossing the train tracks, make a left ON TO them, and floor it. You can travel on the tracks without worrying about sharp turns or cars, and you can keep a decent speed. When you see a large green hill to your left, get off the tracks and go down it, but make sure you do not fly down the hill so you don't wreck your car, or come to a stop. From their, just floor it to the first checkpoint, then back up." ***************** Additional Tips 4 ***************** Thanks to Ryudo For sending this tip in. First of all, when you start, wait a few seconds to let cars and pedestrians pass . When you think the time is right hit X and turn right, turn first road left, and follow the main road through the city (the one with tram rails and passes by CJ's garage). Align your car onto the tram rails, and DO NOT turn at any costs. You will have about 10% to be hit by cars. The tram rails will turn right. Ignore it and keep going straight. This time, align your car with the double yellow line in the center of the road (the line should be directly beneath your car). Use your analogue sticks to watch over the hills in case there are cars and you have to adjust your heading slightly. Now you will cross a double road, and if you raced by top speed, you should be around 30 seconds. SLOW down (very important), and drive CAREFULLY over the low fence around the grass area to your north (if you do it to fast your car will do something weird and get loads of damage). Keep driving, and make sure you don't slip. Go over the other side of the fences again and slow even more down. The should be a road that leads to the marker right in front of you now. slowly drive to the marker (don't even try to go with full power, your car will slip and make a nasty fall). Now make a controlled turn (not with handbrake, or your car might stop and everything would be in vain) and repeat the process above in the other way. When jumping down the hills, be careful not to land on any cars, or flip over. If done correctly, you have plenty of time to park your car in the finish marker and get gold. this is very easy, as it are only 2 straight pieces, with some sort of dead line running through the middle. ================= 5.0 - Bike School ================= School Difficulty: 5/10 ------------- 5.1 - The 360 ------------- Total Time: 0:15s Vehicle: FCR 900 Difficulty: 1/10 What you need for gold: Do a complete 360 and stop almost exactly where you started Tips - None really needed...just follow the directions and you will get this one very easy. ------------- 5.2 - The 180 ------------- Total Time: 0:10s Vehicle: PCJ 600 Difficulty: 3/10 What you need for gold: Don’t hit any cones and park perfectly Tips - Floor it the whole way there and about halfway through the U shaped cones hard break(R1) and release the gas and turn...then proceed to press down X again and head back to the starting point...Now be careful because you must park your vehicle perfectly in the middle of the cones to get 100% ----------------- 5.3 - The Wheelie ----------------- Total Time: 0:08s Vehicle: FCR 900 Difficulty: 4/10 What you need for gold: Don’t hit any cones, wheelie through the line of cones in the center and park perfectly Tips - Floor it until you reach the cones in the center pull back on the left control stick and release gas, now keep it stable until you reach the end of the cones then just land the wheelie and proceed to park your vehicle perfectly in the middle of the cones as directed before ------------------- 5.4 - Jump and Stop ------------------- Total Time: 0:08s Vehicle: Sanchez Difficulty: 2/10 What you need for gold: To put it simply just jump the ramp and park your bike perfectly as instructed before Tips - None really needed this one is very self explanatory and easy...as before the hardest part of this mission will be parking ----------------- 5.5 - The Stoppie ----------------- Total Time: 0:08s Vehicle: FCR 900 Difficulty: 7/10 What you need for gold: Stoppie through the cones and park directly in center of cones Tips - Floor it until you hit the cones then perform a stoppie (Forward Plus Square) and keep it balanced(don’t worry you will wobble a little at the end and maybe go of course a little) then land it and correct yourself until you are lined up perfectly and park(this will take a few trys because most of the time you end up going far off track at the end but that is ok because you usually will have about 3 seconds left to correct yourself appropriately) -------------------- 5.6 - Jump & Stoppie -------------------- Total Time: 0.08 Vehicle: NRG 500 Difficulty: 10/10 What you need for gold: Jump the ramp, land and ride a stoppie into the park zone and park perfectly Tips - Ok boys/girls here it is the hard one, first floor it until you hit the top of the ramp then pull back, as soon as you’re at the peak of your jump press forward on the left stick and right before you hit the ground press square and forward, if done at the right angle (which should be right around something like this angle here /) you should begin to ride a stopped, now don’t press gas because it’s absolutely useless, but as soon as you get the stoppie going release square and hold forward on the joystick (now the hard part,) once this is done then proceed to try to park your bike perfectly in the center of the parking square(very difficult still takes me multiple trys,) **REMEMBER** YOU MUST RIDE A STOPPIE INTO THE PARK ZONE AND THEN STOP **REMEMBER** ***************** Additional Tips ***************** This tip was sent to me by DMf518@aol.com This is what he sent me "with the jump and stoppie in bike school... i got gold on that quite easily actually. i've found that it is not necessary to do the stoppie all the way into the parking space box thing- just land on your front tire, and as soon as your back tire hits, gun it, then drive into the space. sometimes, however, it will stop you as soon as your back tire hits, but if you put on the gas at the right time, you can pull it right into the space on both wheels, easy as pie." The next tip was sent to me by Rev CLW "When starting out to gain speed towards the ramp, push the left joystick a quarter of the way, to half the way, forward. This will keep CJ from standing all the way up - much like in Vice City, he'll keep lower down on the bike and reduce the wind resistance allowing him to get going a bit faster. If he can get going fast enough, he should land just outside the target zone. Hitting on both wheels will keep him going relatively straight forward. At that point, just hold the brakes and lean forward onto the stoppie. The game should register him in the target zone, on the front wheel. The hardest part is getting him low enough to keep the speed up. Once you can actually get him close to the target zone, it's easy to just coast in on your front wheel and get the 100% rank." ***************** Additional Tip #2 ***************** Thanks to about 1000 people for this tip >:O This is from madman158: He Wrote: "I found that in the jump and stoppie after tring about 100 times using the square button that you dont have to hit the square button at all. All you got to do is angle the bike to the angle the bike forward. If you angle the bike right it will land on the front wheel and go strait in the box on the front wheel then all you got to do is push down on the left stick to drop the tail of the bike and the hell is over. Only took me two tries this way and i have got gold 3 times for my friends doing it this way." --------------------------------- Also Sean sent this in "The game will count your Stoppie no matter how lame it is! All you have to do is make sure your front tire lands before the rear. So to beat the challenge go as fast as you can towards the ramp, leaning forward for extra speed, pull back a bit as you hit the ramp for extra distance and hopefully you can land pretty much square in the parking space. As long as you land front tire first, the game will count the stoppie." ****************** Additional Tips #2 ****************** Thanks to LansOperator for this one "I found the best was to finish this level is to just hold down the gas the entire time and try to land your bike in the stoppie position and coast as far as you can until you make it inside the finish line. The advantage with this is that your bike is a lot more likely to stay straight and the gas will give you a little boost at the end if you need it plus you don't have to worry about timing the gas at the end." ------------ ------------ 5.7 - Gltch ------------ ------------ Not really a gltch but more annoying is the "glitch" Outside of the bike school It can happen as soon as you get all silvers. (Problem) The glitch is that you have unlocked a Bike but it is not outside. (Solution) This is not tested but seems to work fine for me. Take a bike that is outside(one that you do not want get on it and drive far away from bike school (Casinos are best place) Than come back to the school the bike you want should appear if not Repeat. NOTE: Please do not contact me no more regarding this glitch until you have actually tryed this if you still have problems explain it to me in ENGLISH and with good grammar i dont want to read some thing like "yo mna i gtos the glods btu i dnt see no bikes right there can u hlps me out" Thanks If that doesnt seem to work listen to what sent me "I too had problems with this, on both the bike school and the flying school. I tried your solution of simply going away, saving, and coming back, but it doesn't work. However, the NRG500 and Hunter have now both randomly appeared, a _long_ time after getting all the golds (ie lots of missions and saves and game time has passed). I think it is a measure rockstar have used to make sure you dont get too big an advantage in the early missions - for example, having the Hunter helicopter too early on would ruin the game. I found that they appeared about 56% into the game, if this is the determining stat. Anyway, i thought you might like to reassure people on your faq that if they just carry on playing the game, the bonus vehicles will appear soon enough!" If you have any suggestions please sent them in ================= 6.0 - Boat School ================= School Difficulty: 3/10 ---------------------- 6.1 - Basic Seamanship ---------------------- Total Time: Unlimited Vehicle Provided: Coastguard Difficulty: 1/10 What you need for gold: You need to stop inside the buoys within ten seconds and take no damage. Tips - Accelerate until the timer says 0:06 and press and hold square until you stop. ------------------- 6.2 - Plot a course ------------------- Total Time: Unlimited Vehicle Provided: Coastguard Difficulty: 3/10 What you need for gold: You need to complete the course within 35 seconds and not hit one buoy. Tips - Stay in the middle of the buoys and once you have gone through the second set of buoys use R1 to make a sharp turn so you don’t hit the wall. The rest should be easy as long as you look at the map to know which way to turn. ------------------ 6.3 - Fresh Slalom ------------------ Total Time: Unlimited Vehicle Provided: Dinghy Difficulty: 5/10 What you need for gold: You need to complete this course within 1:20 and take any damage. Tips - As long as you follow the course and use R1 for sharp turns you should easily make it in time. ----------------- 6.4 - Flying Fish ----------------- Total Time: 0:45s Vehicle Provided: Vortex Difficulty: 7/10 What you need for gold: You need to go a distance further than 67 meters and land inside the buoys. Tip - This is the hardest one for boat school, But it is still easy. Just hold X the whole time and once you have reached the ramp hold down and you will sort of fly. I do not know many tips on this but I am working on how I managed to get 83 meters and will update once I have figured it out. ***************** Additional Tips ***************** This tip was sent to me from Aaron Koch - aaron_kch@yahoo.com He wrote "In the boating school on flying fish a good way to get your distance is to pull back on the left analog stick as you leave the ramp. It cannot be slanted." Thanks to Zeusbap for this tip He wrote "For the barrel roll in the stunt plane, press select until it's in first person mode, which makes it a 1/10 (that's what I thought at least). The normal camera for crazy maneuvers isn't very helpful, so if you do the barrel roll in the first person camera mode, it's exponentially easier." *************** Additional Tips *************** Thanks to Nenshouryuu for this tip: "As you barrel roll left, turn your rudder right, giving you a almost near perfect straight path towards the last corona." ---------------------------- 7.10 - Parachute onto Target ---------------------------- Total Time: Vehicle Provided: Parachute Difficulty: 7/10 What you need for gold: To land in the middle of the target Tips - Hold forward for 21 seconds than open parachute at 21 seconds once the parachute has opened hold down until 52 seconds and you should land in the middle of the target. =================================== 8.0 - Frequently Asked Questions =================================== Q. - Do i need all golds for 100%?
