Introduction =================== Howdy and welcome to my walkthrough for Grandia III. I've heard of the Grandia series, but I've never played any of the games. Grandia III caught my interest because of all the hype around the battle system. I finally got the chance to pick it up, and the hype around the battle system is worth it. This is easily the second best battle system that I've played with. Second only behind the Judgment Ring from the Shadow Hearts series. =================== 2.) Walkthrough =================== NOTE: I'll try to make this guide as spoiler free as possible, but I'm not making any promises. NOTE 2: There's a mini map on the lower left of your screen. Sometimes I may give direct directions, sometimes I might not, as you can simply look at the mini map to find your way. However, if I do give directions, the directions that I give are based on the map. Feel free to watch the opening cinematics before the title screen. Choose to start a new game, and then watch the lengthy opening. You'll then be in control. ============== Anfog Village ============== (001) Items Enemies ----- ------- Healing Herb N/A Flight Unit Get used to the button configurations so you get a feel of the basics. If you open up the Party Menu, you can find small descriptions of each of the areas on the menu (I.E Equipment, Items, etc...). When you have the basic feel of the buttons, look at the mini-map on the lower left hand corner of the screen. The yellow boxes represent shops or important houses. In order to find the Flight Unit, you need to find Miranda's house. It's the lowest block on the left side of the map. You can talk with the townspeople if you want, but it's not mandatory. Once you reach Miranda's house, head to the kitchen and examine around the shelves and you'll find the FLIGHT UNIT. Exit the kitchen, and examine the right side of the house, you'll find a herb plant. Examine it and Yuki will yoink out a leaf, and you'll have yourself a HEALING HERB. You may notice a colorful sphere in Miranda's house. This is a Light Sphere, and you need to use these in order to save your game. Rainbow colored ones have the ability to refill your HP and MP, as well as any ailments you may have. Green colored ones simply save your game. You can also set up any skills or magic that you have in your inventory at Light Spheres. Once you're done in the house, make your way back to the Garage and talk with Rotts. He'll ask you if you're ready to take off. If you are, pick the second option to proceed. Watch the following scenes. ============== Anfog Woods ============== (002) Items Enemies ----- ------- Flare Egg Dragonfly Toad Ranger Book Solider Watch the following scenes, and you'll be thrusted into your first battle. Miranda will give you a step-by-step tutorial on the basics of the battle system. Follow her advice and you'll win easily. After the fight, you'll have control of your characters. Go south and follow the dirt path. Make sure to fight at least the majority of enemies in every area, as you'll need the levels. As you head down the dirt path, you'll find a treasure chest. Open it up. Unlike most RPGs, you don't automatically recieve the item once you open a treasure chest. You need to walk up to the item to recieve it. Get it to obtain the Ranger Book. You'll eventually run into a fork. A scene will trigger. Once you have control again, go east and use the Light Sphere to save your game. Open the nearby chest for the Flare Egg. Now continue going south for yet another scene. After the scene, you'll leave the woods automatically. ============== Anfog Village ============== (003) Items Enemies ----- ------- Medicinal Herb Kornell SHOPS ----- General Store Magic Shop ------------- ---------- Small Sword -------> 160G Burn! ---------> 60G Leather Armor -----> 120G Diggin' ------> 100G Healing Herb --------> 4G Crackle ------> 400G Wound Salve --------> 40G Heal ----------> 60G Cherry Bomb ---------> 6G Howl ----------> 80G Revival Portion ----> 40G After a small scene, you'll regain control. You need to find a Medicinal Herb for Alfina. Make your way to the Garage and head to the back of it. Pick up the Medicinal Herb here and go back to Miranda's house. After a small scene, head into Miranda's room and another scene will trigger. After the scene, you'll be outside, and you'll find a familiar face. You'll then get into another fight. This is another tutorial, but it covers some of the more advanced parts of the battle system. As long as you follow Miranda's directions, you'll get out of this fight unharmed. After Miranda's final direction, Kornell will run away. Some more scenes occur, and Alfina will join your party. The General Store and Magic Shop are now both open, so make sure to upgrade Yuki's equipment. You should be able to afford it all. Make sure to sell Yuki's Silver Wrench for 500G. That's a lot for this early in the game. After you're done in the General Store, make your way to the Magic Shop and buy at least Heal and Diggin'. Crackle is nice also. After you're done here, exit and go find the gate leading to the exit of the village. Talk with the old man and he'll give you the Life Up skill. After you're all set with upgrading your equipment and magic, head back to Miranda and tell her you're ready to go. ============== Anfog Woods ============== (004) Items Enemies ----- ------- Revival Elixir Dragonfly Toad Holy Water Gilled Pawn Storm Stone Gilled Shaman Wind Egg Stone Egg Soldier Book First Ring Staff of Prayer Hunter's Jacket Protective Charm You're able to cut mushrooms with your sword here. Some of them contain items and the location and the item itself is completely random, so make sure to cut down any mushrooms you come across. Also, you can hit an enemy with your sword, stunning it momentarily. If you get into a fight when the enemy is stunned, you'll get the advantage. Follow the linear path and you'll get a small tutorial about the search option. Simply pushing the Square button will call out a blue wave that will point out any search points and light them up temporarily. Go open the chest with the blue circle around it to obtain the Wind Egg. Continue following the path, and you'll get another small tutorial. This one is about swinging your sword. Cut up the mushrooms and continue along. Go west at the split for a chest containing the First Ring. Head back to the main path adn follow it, destroying any mushrooms you come across. Eventually you'll reach a pond. On the other side of it, take the east path at the split and follow it, cutting down any mushrooms you find. Grab the chest at the end for some Holy Water. Now go south and across the bridge. Jump across the rocks and go east at the split and use the Light Sphere here. Open the nearby chest for a Soldier Book. Now continue along the main path. You'll eventually find a camp. Watch the following scenes, and you'll have your first dinner conversation. Basically, just switch between the characters and hear what they have to say. Read what Yuki, Alfina, and Miranda have to say. (and boy, do they have a lot to say) After everyone is done talking, you'll get the chance to head off to bed. Do so. Watch the scene. Use the Light Sphere here and head along the dirt path and another scene will start up, featuring our old friend, Kornell. O-----------------O | Kornell | O-----------------O | HP | 1400 | O-----------------O -Even though he is the first boss of the game, he may give you some trouble if you still haven't grasped the basics of the battle system yet. Make sure to cast Diggin' at the beginning of the battle, as the extra defense will come a long way for this fight. You'll want to take out Kornell's cronies first, as the damage will rack up. Make good use of your special moves here, and focus on the Henchmen first before targeting the Iron Fist. Yuki should use Whirlwind, and Miranda should use Force Slash, whereas Alfina should stick to using Howl and Heal. Make sure to Cancel any attacks that are coming your way. Even if it means switching targets momentarily, try not to let them get off any special attacks. After the Henchmen fall, focus on the Iron Fist. By this point, Alfina should be using Crackle on Kornell, while Yuki and Miranda should be pounding the Iron Fist with their Special Moves. Once the Iron Fist is gone, Kornell himself shouldn't be that difficult to take down. After the fight, make sure to heal yourself up at the Light Sphere nearby. Now continue along into the second part of the woods. Continue along the main path until you reach a split. Take out the mushrooms and go east and continue east and then go north. Grab the chest at the end of the path for a Staff of Prayer. Make sure to equip it on Alfina. Go back to the split and go west and then south. Grab the chest here for a Stone Egg. Continue to the east and go down the ladder once you reach it. Go west and jump across the gap. At the split, climb the ladder and open the chest for a Hunter's Jacket and use the Light Sphere. Climb back down the ladder and go west and follow the path. Remember to cut down any mushrooms you come across. Continue to the east and you'll eventually reach a chest containing a Storm Stone. Now go west and along the edge of the cliff and then go south. Go east from here to find a chest containing a Protective Charm. Now exit the area. ============== Sabatar Coast ============== (005) Items Enemies ----- ------- Cure Herb Gilled Pawn Speed Seed Gilled General Frost Egg Zoea Bomb Egg Tortogator Soldier Book Ranger Book Hunter's Knife Admiral's Boots Head onto the beach and watch the following scenes. During the scene, the man Miranda found will introduce himself as Alonso. He'll also join your party. Once in control, examine the northeast corner of the beach for a Speed Seed. Now make your way back to the other side of the beach and continue on. Follow the main path until you hit a split. Go south and follow the path to find a chest containing a Hunter's Knife. Backtrack to the split and go north this time. Follow the path until you find a Light Sphere. Open the nearby chest for a Ranger Book. Now go south a bit to find another chest containing a Soldier Book. Continue along the main path. Grab the chest containing Admiral Boots along the way. Now go north and then west for another chest that has a Frost Egg. Continue along the main path until you reach a split. Go northeast for a chest that has a Bomb Egg in it. Continue along the main path, grabbing the chest on the west containing a Cure Herb. Continue to exit the area. ============== Sabatar Harbor ============== (006) Items Enemies ----- ------- Admiral Uniform N/A Trident Boat Key Alfina's Brooch Medal SHOPS ----- Skill Shop ---------- Guru's Way -------> 100G Perception --------> 60G Counter -----------> 80G Lizard Hunter ----> 240G Warrior's Way ----> 100G Passive Defense ---> 60G Watch the following scenes. Before heading into the Casino, explore the Tent to the right of the Casino. There's a person that sells Skills here. Buy Lizard Hunter and Perception for everyone. Counter is optional, but I highly recommend purchasing it. Now make your way to the Casino. Watch the scenes. After you regain control, head for the back of the tent and talk with the man here. He'll offer the Alheal spell for 284G. This is a very good spell, so make sure to buy it. Make your way to Alonso's Ship. Watch the scenes. Talk with Alonso and he'll give you a Medal to use at the Casino. If you have everything you need, talk with Miranda and tell her you're ready to go to bed. Morning comes. Use the Light Sphere to save your progress and head for the Casino. Watch the amusing scene. After the scene, you'll recieve the Boat Key, an Admiral Uniform, a Trident, and Alfina's Brooch. Equip Alonso with his new goodies and head for Alonso's ship. Whenever you're ready, tell him that you're ready to set sail. ============== Alonso's Ship ============== (007) Items Enemies ----- ------- N/A Boat Swallow Yuki and Alonso will talk on the ship. After the scene, talk with Alonso. Go into the cabin and talk with Alfina, and then finally with Miranda. Tell her that you want to rest. Morning comes. Head to the deck and to the front of the ship and a scene will occur, with a fight triggering after it. This is a simple battle. If your levels are decent, they shouldn't do that much damage. Simply use AoE special moves or spells (I.E Whirlwind, Tremor, etc...) to get rid of them. After the first wave goes down, a second wave comes to play with you, so get rid of them the same way you got rid of the first wave. Another scene occurs after it. Ulf is now introduced, alongside his dragon, Shiba. After the scene, talk with Shiba and eventually he'll knock Yuki on his ass. Head into the cabin and watch the scene. You'll have another dinner conversation, so make sure to see what each character has to say. Some more scenes occur. After the scene, use the Light Sphere and head upstairs and talk with Alfina. After that, head outside and watch Ulf fly away. After some more talking, you'll be in Randoto. ============== Randoto ============== (008) Items Enemies ----- ------- Miracle Elixir Boat Swallow Revival Potion Fishman Holy Water Fishman Captain Panacea Zoea Thunder Egg Bomb Egg Hunter Book Priest book Shock Blade Water Ring Force Knight Sleep Amulet Cotton Robe Head up the slope and use the Light Sphere and save your progress. If you haven't equipped your Lizard Hunter skills yet, do so now. Also make sure to stick Alheal on Alfina. Enter the cave. You may notice some flowers when you head a bit into the cave. If you hit one with your sword, an explosion will occur in a few seconds, so make sure to run away before you get damaged. Now open the nearby chest for a Priest Book. Ignore the northwest part, and go northeast and cut the flower to get the rock out of the way. Continue following the path and jump acorss the gap when you come to it. As you venture further, some Fish like creatures will jump out of the water. I'd fight them for the experience, but it's up to you. Whatever you do, continue along the path until you reach a split. Go northeast at the split and open the chest for a Sleep Amulet. Make sure to equip this on someone. I stuck it on Yuki. Backtrack to the split and go through the northwest path this time. Jump across the gap and continue to the north and open the chest you come across for a Shock Blade. Equip it on Yuki. Now go west and ignore the gap over the ricver. Instead, continue north and open the chest for a Holy Water. Go back to the gap and jump across it. At the next split, go south for a chest containing a Force Knife. Go north and then turn west and follow the main path until you reach yet another split. Go southeast and cut the flower you come across to form a tiny bridge with the rock. Now continue along the main path until you find another gap to jump across. Go southeast to find a chest containing a Panacea. Go back and jump across the gap now. Exit the area. Use the Light Sphere near you and head up the hill. An earthquake will occur. After some talking, follow the main path, ignoring the chest you see (you can't reach it just yet) and cut the flower you come across. Once it explodes, the rock will tumble down, forming a bridge. Cross it and open the chest for a Hunter Book. Continue down the main path and then turn and go west where that rock was before. Cut the flower and a small passage will open up. Grab the chest containing a Water Ring. Continue going west and go down the ladder. You'll eventually find some Eggs. As far as I know, they don't contain any items. However, so do contain Boat Swallows, so be cautious of that. Follow the main path and head for the northwest part of the area and open the chest for a Bomb Egg. Now go east and up the next two ladders. Continue to the east. You'll eventually find a chest containing a Cotton Robe. From here, go east and go south and take the ladder going down. Push the rock that's down here to form a small bridge. Go back up the ladder and then up the next couple of ladders. Once you reach a split, go east and then southeast for a chest that has a Thunder Egg in it. Continue following the path until you reach another split. Go south and open the chest for a Revival Potion. Go back to the split and go north this time and follow the path as it bends to the west. Climb the ladder and continue going west for a chest that has a Miracle Elixir. Head back a little, then go north. Use the Light Sphere here to heal up and save. Follow the dirt path, and a scene will trigger. O------------------O | Minotaur | O------------------O | HP | 2100 | O------------------O -The Minotaur comes with 4 Fishmen Warriors and a Fishman Advisor, each with a decent amount of HP. Make sure you pay close attention to what attack the Minotaur is about to use. If you see he's going to use Ground Crush, then you need to cancel it as soon as you can. Focus on the Fishmen Warriors first, as they have a nasty habit of casting Snooze. Luckily, it doesn't have a high success rate, but nonetheless, you'll want all of your characters active for this fight. Make sure to cast Diggin'. If Yuki has a Wind Egg on, and has used his Whirlwind Special Move a lot, he'll do a lot of damage with it if you use it on a bunch of Fishmen Warriors. Use Force Slash with Miranda and use Alheal with Alfina if some of your party members are starting to lose a lot of their health. Once the Fishmen Warriors are gone, focus on the Fishman Advisor. Once he's gone, the Minotaur isn't all that tough. Just make sure to cancel him out of his Ground Crush attack, and try to get as many Aerial Combos as you can. After the fight, make sure to pick up the Rain Egg the Minotaur drops. It's right behind you. Grab the Lem fruit and make your way back. As you go back, a scene occurs. After some more talking, you'll regain control. Follow the main path, riding up the stones when indicated. After some more talking, you'll be sent into another fight. O------------------O | Excise Sigma | O------------------O | HP | 1200 | O------------------O -He may have a small amount of HP, but his attacks will hurt, and he can Paralyze your party, so you'll need to be aware of that. Taking out the Pico Alphas will help you win this battle quickly. Focus on them with your best spells and attacks. After they fall, Excise Sigma shouldn't be that hard to take down. After the fight, watch the scenes. Save your game with the Light Sphere and hop back onto Alonso's ship. ============== Alonso's Ship ============== (009) After another scene, head into the cabin and another dinner conversation will occur. Hear what each character has to say. Once you reach the end, tell Alonso you're ready to fall asleep. Watch the following scene between Miranda and Alonso. After the scene, you'll be in Mendi City. ============== Mendi City ============== (010) Items Enemies ----- ------- N/A N/A SHOPS ----- General Store Skill Shop ------------- ---------- Flame Sword -------> 600G Guru's Way --------> 100G Flame Rod ---------> 360G Absorb Magic -------> 60G Mage Staff --------> 950G Perception ---------> 60G Iron Rod ---------> 1180G Counter ------------> 80G Chain Mail --------> 320G Beast Hunter ------> 240G Breastplate -------> 680G Warrior's Way -----> 100G Leather Duster ----> 260G Mighty Blow --------> 80G Quilted Silk -----> 1080G Passive Defense ----> 60G Bold Boots --------> 180G Iron Leggings -----> 480G Fire Ring ---------> 250G Water Ring --------> 250G Sleep Amulet ------> 400G Poison Amulet -----> 600G Healing Herb --------> 4G Wound Salve --------> 12G Cure Herb ----------> 30G Revival Potion -----> 40G Antidote ------------> 8G Torte Reedpipe ------> 4G Cherry Bomb ---------> 6G Grenade -----------> 100G Magic Shop ---------- Burn! --------------> 60G Burnstrike --------> 240G Diggin' -----------> 100G Heal ---------------> 60G Healer ------------> 240G Snooze ------------> 180G Howl ---------------> 80G Howlslash ---------> 300G Before you venture any further, make sure you take off any equipment that Miranda and Alonso have on. They're going to leave your party in a short while and will never re-join, so unequip them and sell off their weapons and armor for some extra change. Use the Light Sphere to save your game and venture into the city. As you make your way down the street, Alonso and Miranda will take off, leaving Yuki and Alfina by themselves. Make sure to upgrade your equipment. Buy the Flame Sword for Yuki as well as the Breastplace and Iron Leggings. For Alfina, buy her the Mage Staff and Quilted Silk as well as the Iron Leggings. Stock up on healing items if you need to as well. I would suggest picking up a few Antidotes as well. Also stop by the Magic Shop and upgrade your skills. Grab Howlslasha nd Healer for sure. Burnstrike is optional, and if you haven't purchased Diggin' yet, now would be a good time to do so. You can also extract new magic from the Mana Eggs you've collected so far. Make your way to the Skill shop and you'll find out you can extract Skills from your books as well. Extract Water Mastery and stick it on Alfina. That way, her curing spells will consume less MP. After you're done shopping, make your way to the end of town and you'll find Schmidt's garage. Enter it and watch the scene. You'll need to run around the garage and find and talk to Schmidt a few times. Once the scenes are finished, make your way back to Alonso's Ship and head for the cabin. Another dinner conversation will kick up, so hear what each character has to say. At the end, watch the following scenes. Once morning comes, make your way to Schmidt's garage. Find and talk with him, and watch the lengthy scene. You'll get a small chance to get used to the controls of the airplane as you fly towards Arcriff, but eventually you'll run into trouble. ============== Arcriff Forest ============== (011) Items Enemies ----- ------- Antidote x3 Baabaa Cure Herb Dragonoid White Sulfur Revival Elixir Spirit Seed Sorcerer Book Blaze Egg Before you start off, you may notice a Sheep type enemy. These things can drop a decent amount of money if you use an Aerial Finish on them. They can also drop Sheepskins which can be sold for 1000G a piece, and they don't really fight back, but tend to escape, so make sure to kill them as fast as you can. This is a great way to make some quick money, though. Use the Light Sphere to save your progress. Go northwest and around the rock to find a chest that has a Spirit Seed in it. Continue northwest for another chest that has a Sorcerer Book. Now go east and go south once you find a log bridge for a chest containing a Blaze Egg. Head back to the log bridge and go across it. Go east to find a chest containing a Revival Elixir. Now continue along the main path and you'll find 5 items on the ground. Three of them are Antidotes, and the other two are a White Sulfur and a Cure Herb. Now follow the main path and exit this area. If you see you want some more money, re-enter the area and defeat the Baabaa's and hope they drop some more Sheepskins. They seem to drop them a lot more frequently if you can take out a group of them in one shot. Howlslash or Whirlwind can help you do that. ============== Arcriff Temple ============== (012) Items Enemies ----- ------- Holy Salve Pico Alpha Magic Seed Aton Beta Healing Gem Baabaa Miracle Elixir Dragonoid Lightning Stone Broadsword Aromatic Root Wind Ring Poison Amulet Thunder Egg Leaf Egg Priest Book SHOPS ----- General Store Magic Shop ------------- ---------- Revival Gem --------> 1000G Burnstrike -------> 240G Healing Herb ----------> 4G Tremor -----------> 400G Wound Salve ----------> 12G Cure -------------> 240G Holy Salve -----------> 36G Resurrect --------> 400G Cure Herb ------------> 30G Healer -----------> 240G Revival Potion -------> 40G Alheal -----------> 400G Revival Elixir ------> 240G Snooze -----------> 180G Antidote --------------> 8G Howlslash --------> 300G I'd go ahead and visit the General Store and sell off any Sheepskin you have and buy 9 of each Recovery item (except for Revival Gems. Buy a few of those) if you can afford it. Head over to the magic shop and upgrade your magic again if you need to. Head into the temple and use the Light Sphere to save your progress and enter the Cathedral. Talk to the Bishop. Now exit to the east hall and go up the stairs and enter the first room you come across. Watch the scene and head to the west corridor this time and head to the end of it and talk with the Priest in front of the room. Tell him you're ready to go to bed. Some more scenes occur. Morning will come. Make your way to the Viewing place. It's on the east corridor. It's the first door past Alfina's brothers room. Once you enter it, watch a lengthy scene. After it, you'll be in control. Use the Light Sphere to save your progress. Head south and grab the two chests on the east side of the room that contain a Miracle Elixir and a Wind Ring. Go through the door and a fight will occur. O--------------------O | Excise Sigma | O--------------------O | HP | 1200 | O--------------------O -This is pretty much the same battle as last time, but you only have Yuki and Alfina for this fight, and the Sigma comes with two Pico Alphas instead of four. You may want to cast Diggin'. Have Yuki use his best special moves which would be either Whirlwind or Blade Storm. Use Burnstrike to take out the Pico Alphas first while Alfina should be using Crackle and either Healer or Alheal. Once the Pico Alphas are gone, the Excise Sigma shouldn't be that hard to take down. Once in control, go east. From here, go north and head up to the second floor. Follow the path and you'll eventually find four chests. Open them up for a Thunder Egg, Poison Amulet, Priest Book, and Leaf Egg. Continue along and go right at the split. Some Pico Alphas will appear from the rubble of the collapsed ceiling. Fight them if you want to. Now go south and once you reach a split, go northeast and open the chest for a Lightning Stone. Now go to the south and as you follow the main path, some of the pillars on the wall will crumble and fall to the ground. Make your way around them and go up the stairs. Keep going until you find another split. Go east and follow the path until you find a chest. Head for it and the floor underneath you will crumble and fall one level. Open the chest for an Aromatic Root. Continue following the main path. You'll find a sword sitting in the open. Pick it up to get the Broadsword. Now climb the stairwell and go through the door once you reach the top. Head northwest for a chest that has a Revival Gem. From there, go southeast and through the corridor. Turn and go east and go around the rock to find a chest that has a Holy Salve in it. Now go south for another chest that has a Healmg Gem. Now go to the west for a chest that has a Magic Seed. If you can't find it, use your Search function in order to find it. Exit the area now. You'll be back in the forest. There are no new items here, so make your way to the plane (and fighting any Baabaa's in your path) and use the Light Sphere to save your progress. Examine the plane, and watch the scene. ============== Mendi City ============== (013) Items Enemies ----- ------- N/A N/A Watch the scene. Make your way to the Inn and Alfina will leave your party temporarily. Once you leave the inn, you'll find Ulf. Make sure to restock on items if you need to. Ulf will take you to Shiba. Don't leave Mendi just yet. Head to the Magic shop and give Ulf some magic. Diggin' and Healer is a must. You can go with either Burnstrike or Howlslash as his offensive spell, but I recommend Burnstrike. Now head to the Skill shop and buy Beast Hunter and Counter for Ulf. If you haven't bought either of those for Yuki, do so now. Now make your way back to Shiba and tell Ulf you're ready to go. ============== Randoto ============== (014) Items Enemies ----- ------- Plate Mail Fishman Scout Book Fishman Captain Glass Slippers Zoea The enemies are the same here from your last visit, but you'll be on a different part of the mountain. Follow the path and take the split for a chest containing a Plate Mail. Continue along the main path and climb the ladder once you come across it. There are 4 Fishmen up here. Fighting them is up to you. Head to the southwest portion of this platform to find a chest that has a Scout Book in it. Now exit the area. Have the flower explode here and head on through. Use the Light Sphere to heal up and save. Now go north to find the Lem Tree. Well well, looks like an old friend from the past has come back for revenge, and he's brought a friend along. O-----------------O | Minotaur x2 | O-----------------O | HP | 2100 | O-----------------O -These guys are a pain. Start off by casting Diggin' to get your defense up. Tornado Horn hurts a lot, and you need all the defense you can get. Focus all your attacks on one Minotaur at a time. Have Yuki use Blade Storm and then Burnstrike to get the most damage. Ulf should use Flame Spike. If you need to alternate your attacks between the Minotaurs to cancel them, then do so. You don't want them to get off a Tornado Horn and a Ground Crush on the same turn. Especially if they target the same character. Have Yuki or Ulf use Healer if someone starts getting low on health, and continue using your best Special Moves and spells on them. After one of the Minotaurs die, the other one isn't as hard to take out. After the fight, grab the Lem Fruit. Before going back to Shiba, do you remember where you docked Alonso's ship during your first visit here? If you go back to that area, you'll find a new item sitting near the water. Pick it up to obtain the Glass Slippers. Now make your way back to Shiba and go back to Mendi City. ============== Mendi City ============== (015) Items Enemies ----- ------- N/A N/A After you land, watch the scene. Head towards the garage and Schmidt will pull out a new plane. Now head for the Inn and pick up Alfina. If you took off any of her skills or spells, make sure to re-equip them on her. Make your way back to the Plane now, and you'll be able to freely fly over the skies. Get used to the controls. You can fly anywhere you want to, but we want to head for Dragon Valley, so let's do so. ============== Dragon Valley ============== (016) Items Enemies ----- ------- Power Seed Hill Lizard Holy Water Venom Bird Quake Egg Thunder Dragon Stone Egg Lycanthrope Rain Egg Lycan Knight + Thunder Dragon Aqua Egg x2 Flare Egg Frost Egg Life Egg Quake Egg Hunter Book Warrior Book Dragon Armor Magic Pumps Dragon Scale Use the Light Sphere to heal up and head north until you find a rock that you can push down. Backtrack to the split and go northwest this time. Follow the path and open the chest at the end for an Aqua Egg. Now go east and south and you'll find another split. Go west from it and open the chest here for a Quake Egg. Now go east and jump over the gap and go to the southern ledge for a chest that has a Holy Water in it. Now head northwest and push the rock down. Follow the main path and go south at the split, then go to the west once you can. Open the chest for some Magic Pumps. Go east and then north. Keep going until you need to jump over a gap. Continue going to the north and open the chest for a Power Seed. Now go west and head a bit southwest for a chest that has a Warrior Book. Backtrack and go northwest this time. This path is pretty linear. Follow it and you'll find a small den of Lycan Knights. Try to avoid fighting them, as they're pretty powerful and have a bunch of HP to boot. Make your way into the Den and grab the Dragon Armor Aqua Egg, Stone Egg, and Flare Egg. Continue following the main path. Go west as it bends and grab the chest here for a Frost Egg. Backtrack and follow the main path and exit this area. Head a bit to the west and chop the tree down here. Cross over it and grab the chest for a Hunter Book. Now continue going to the west and push the log you come across into the river. Now go north and chop the tree down here and it'll form another bridge. Go down to it and cross. You'll find some flowers in this area. As with the Mushrooms before, these give random items. Some of them are actually monsters, so make sure to approach with caution. Go to the west and cut open the flower and across the log. Now go north and then go a but southeast-ish and push the log into the river. Make your way to the south part of the land and jump over the rocks. If you go to the west, you'll find one of those imposter flowers that I just mentioned. Head to the north section of the land and climb down the ladder. Go northeast now and cut down the tree here. Cross the bridge and then cross the log. Cut open the flowers here and head east and push the log into the river. Cut open the flowers if you wish and cross the log. Go east and then climb the ladder you come across. Head northeast and follow the path as it bends and grab the chest for a Life Egg. Backtrack to the ladder and head to the southeast part of this land. Cut down the tree here and go north and climb the ladder. Go back to the west across the two logs and then go north. Go east at the split and open the chest at the end for a Dragon Scale. Now go west and use the Light Sphere to save your progress. Exit this area. Head north and watch the scenes here. After the scenes, continue all the way to the north and talk with Drak and watch some more scenes. You'll be in control now. Pick up Drak's Orb. This is a pretty sweet item, as you can use it in a battle to nearly rip apart your enemies. However, if you use it, it needs to recharge, which can take a good while, so make sure to use it wisely. Go back to the gate and exit. You'll be taken to the first part of the Dragon Valley once you exit. Well that sure saved us a lot of time. Make your way back to your Plane and take off. After it, make sure to upgrade your equipment, magic, and skills. You should notice a new option in the magic shop: Mana Egg Fusion. Here, you can combine your Mana Eggs to get different spells from them, or different elemental boosts. After you upgrade everyone, exit and go to the tent on the west side of the village to find Dahna. (talk about busty) Watch the scenes and then head to the inn and do the normal dinner conversation routine. Some more scenes will occur. In the morning, Dahna will join your party. Upgrade Dahna's equipment, magic, and skills. Before leaving, I suggest you do a little Mana Egg Fusion. Make Mana Eggs so you can extract the following spells: Alhealer, Crystal Dust, Hellburner, and Meteor Strike. I put Alhealer and Crystal Dust on Alfina, Hellburner on Yuki, and Meteor Strike on Dahna. Once you're ready, use the north exit to the desert. ============== Baccula Desert ============== (018) Items Enemies ----- ------- N/A Dragonfly Sand Lizard Undead Mage Desert Lord Don't bother looking for treasure, as there isn't any. Head north to reach the next area of the desert. If you feel you're lacking in levels, here's a good place to get some. There's a Rainbow Light Sphere at the end of here, so you can heal up easily. Make your way to the Light Sphere and save your game. Enter the Ruins. ============== Baccula Ruins ============== (019) Items Enemies ----- ------- Cure Powder Lizard Solider Holy Salve Sable Holy Water Undead Mage Mogay Bomb Skeleton Warrior Revival Elixir x2 Golem Life Seed Smart Seed Bond of Trust Wizard Book Guardian Book Veteran Book Scout Book Fighter Book Blaze Egg Quake Egg Staff of Ice Sleep Cards Fire Ring Ice Brand On a small note, Dahna may not have the best physical power, but she can be used for a greater purpose. Since she can attack long range with her cards, she can serve as a staller. For instance, if an enemy is about to attack her or another party member, have her target that enemy and have someone else target that same enemy. If the timing is right, Dahna can stall that enemy with her cards as the other party member runs over and attacks the enemy as Dahna runs for safety. She's great for picking off those enemies that refuse to stand still, too. Follow the main path until you reach a split. Go to the east at the split to find a chest that as a Revival Elixir in it. Backtrack and go north and you'll eventually come to another split. Go north at the split for a chest that has a Holy Salve in it. Backtrack to the split and go east this time and go up the stairs for a chest that has a Wizard Book in it. At the split here, go southeast and then follow the path east and go up the stairs to find another split. Go east for a chest that has some Cure Powder in it. Go back and go north this time for another chest that has a Blaze Egg in it. Backtrack to the split before this one and go northeast. At this split, go east and push the left block to open the door here. Go through and open the chest for a Staff of Ice. Backtrack and head north until you reach a three way split this time. Go north east and follow the path to find a chest that has a Guardian Book in it. Now go east and you'll find some Urns. These contain random items, and best of all, no nasty surprises, so make sure to break them open with your sword. Continue to the east for a chest that as a Smart Seed in it. Backtrack to the three way split. Head up the stairs and head north and then go west, breaking open any Urns you come across. Head a bit north to find a chest that has a Fighter Book in it. Head south this time and follow the main path and go up the stairs. Head across the bridge and then south. Open the two chests for a Quake Egg and a Life Seed. Step on the switch in the middle and a door will open up, revealing a path back to the entrance. If you need to heal up, do so now. Now backtrack all the way to the three way split and go northwest and use the Light Sphere here. Head north and exit this area. Follow the main path and enter the next part of the dungeon. Head north and then head northeast. At the split here, go east and open the chest here for a Mogay Bomb. Keep going to the east and exit the area. Head for the bridge but go to the east before crossing to find a chest that has a Fire Ring in it. Cross the bridge and follow the small pathway for a chest that has some Sleep Cards in them. These are for Dahna if you haven't figured it out yet. Enter the ruins again. Backtrack to the first split of the dungeon and go north and then east for another split. Go north and use the Light Sphere here if you need to heal up. Go east and follow the corridor as it bends around. You'll eventually find a room where four Golems will come out of the wall. These things are really tough and dangerous, as they have the ability to paralyze your party. If you decide to fight them, use Magic on them. Once you're out of this room, head south until you reach a split. Head east for a chest that has a Revival Elixir in it. Backtrack and go west and up the stairs. Head south at the split and push the left block in and go through the door and open the chest for a Veteran Book. Backtrack to the last split and head north for another split. Head west for a chest that has a Holy Water in it. Head back to the split and head north this time and grab the sword here for an Ice Brand. Go east from here and then south for a chest that has a Bond of Trust in it. Backtrack to the Light Sphere here, and examine the statue. Go through the west path this time and follow it until you reach another big door. Push the left statue in and grab the chest for a Scout Book. Head back and use the Light Sphere to heal up and save. This fight can be a difficult one if you're lacking in some strong spells. Hopefully you extracted Crystal Dust, Meteor Strike, Hellburner and Alhealer like I suggested earlier. You want to take care of these guys quickly, as the damage will rack up soon and you'll find yourself in a tight spot. Start off the fight by using Drak's Orb with Dahna and then start using Crystal Dust and Hellburner. Meteor Strike does over 2,000 damage a hit, so make sure to use that as well. Ulf should be your canceller for this fight, but if you need another character to cancel out an attack, then use them. Once the Iron Fist and Demon Scythe go down, Kornell and Violetta shouldn't be that difficult. Take note though that if Kornell is the last one standing, he'll use a Revival Elixir on Violetta. After the fight, watch the following scenes. Go talk with Yoat and watch the next scene. Pick up Yoat's Orb. Go back through the door and you'll be in the Baccula Desert. Make your way back to town. ============== Baccula ============== (020) Items Enemies ----- ------- N/A N/A Make your way to Dahna's tent and head into the back room. Pick up the Chief's Emblem in here. Make sure to stock up on items before continuing. Once you're ready, save your game at the inn and find the web that's next to the Magic Shop. Watch the scene and head for the Desert. ============== Baccula Desert ============== (021) Items Enemies ----- ------- N/A Dragonfly Sand Lizard Undead Mage Mummy Demon There aren't any items here, so just make your way to the other side of the desert and exit the area. Follow the main path and take the split for a chest that has a Bagoo Nut. Keep following the main path and take another split for a chest that has a Paladin Book in it. Continue along and grab the chest on the southeast ledge for a chest that has a Lake Egg in it. Continue along and once you reach a large room, turn around and get the Lightning Egg. If you can't find it, use your Search function. Continue on and exit the area. After the scene, go north and then go west. Go down the slope you come across and grab the chest down here that has a Shaman Book in it. Use your Search function to find another chest northeast from where you are that has a Earth Ring in it. Go west from this chest to find another chest that has a Fairy Cloak in it. Now go to the east side of the area and go up the slope here and follow the path until you hit a split. Open it up for a Cyclone Egg. Cotninue along to the north and then go northwest. Open the two chests you come across for a Manana Fruit and a Sorcerer Book. These things are fast as all hell and are just as powerful. I'd avoid fighting them by fleeing any battles you get into with them. From the start, follow the main path to the north, then go east and north again until you reach a split. Go north at the split and then turn a bit to the east to find a chest that has a Thunder Egg in it. Make your way northwest and grab the chest here for a Buster Flail. Equip this on Ulf. Now go west and follow it until you find an elevator. Ride it and then go north and then east. Grab the chest at the end of the cavern for The Big One, which is a very powerful bomb type item. Continue to the east, and then go south once you can and grab the chest here for a Curse Remover. If you can't find it, use the Search function. Now continue to the south and go around the rock near the Light Sphere for a chest that has a Warrior Book in it. Now go to the west and then north until you reach a split. Open the chest for a Heal Egg. Now make your way back to the Light Sphere and heal up. Follow the main path and head into the next portion of the cave. Watch the small scene. O------------------O | Mother Breed | O------------------O | HP | 16000 | O------------------O -This thing is more of an annoyance than it is challenging. The Mother Breed will spend most of its time crapping out new Pico Gammas and Aton Deltas, so you'll want to take it out as fast as possible. Having Alfina use Absolute Zero or Diamond Dust will be a great help in his fight, as it not only does good damage to the Mother Breed, but it can also hit the other enemies on the field as well. Dahna should be using Meteor Strike if you stuck it on her. If she doesn't have Meteor Strike, then use Hellburner, as it's a good substitute. Have Yuki and Ulf focus on cancelling the Mother Breed while taking out the underlings when they get the chance. Once the Mother Breed falls, the battle will end, no matter if there are any more underlings on the field. Make sure to pick up the Paladin Book that's right behind you after the fight. Head east from the start for a chest that has a Vaccine in it. Now head to the west side of the area and grab the chest that has a Defense Seed in it. Go up the stairs now and continue to the east and go up the next set of stairs. Go up the next set of stairs to the east for a chest that has a Confusion Amulet in it. Now go south a bit and push the huge stone slab down. Cross it and garb the Blast Egg at the edge of the platform. Backtrack and go west and past the ramp for a chest that has a Panacea in it. Now head a bit south for a chest that has a Ninja Book. Now go up the ramp and continue going east to find a Healing Gem. Find the next ramp and go up it and head all the way to the west for a chest that has a Golden Elixir in it. Use the Light Sphere and head into the next area of the Courtyard. Watch the small scene here. O-----------------O | La-Ilim | O-----------------O | HP | 12000 | O-----------------O -He comes with an Undead Dragon. What makes this fight really annoying is that they both have the ability to flee from the fight, making you waste all that MP for nothing. Star off the battle by using Drak's Orb, and then have Alfina and Dahna focus their magic on La-Ilim while Yuki and Ulf should be either cancelling the Undead Dragon or attacking La-Ilim. Just keep that up until either La-Ilim falls, or he runs away. Head down the dirt path and enter the next area. Follow the main path until you reach some stairs. Grab the chest up here for some Smelling Salts. Go back to the stairs and go down them this time. Head a bit to the south to find a chest thta has a Guardian Book in it. Now go north and go up the next set of stairs you come across. Keep going and go down the next set of stairs. Once you reach a lift, go north from it and open the chest for some Dynamite. Backtrack to the lift and ride it down. Head south and cut the flowers to create a shortcut. Now go east and then go north to find a chest that has a Pearl Ring in it. Continue along where the flowers blocked you and head for the lift. Once you're back down, grab the Lake Egg, and make your way all the way back to the other lift. Go northeast and then up the ladder that's on the nearby tower. Open the chest for a Golden Ring. Go back down and head north and grab the two chests here for a Bishop Book and an Ebony Armor. Backtrack to the split and go northeast and step on the tile on the pillar. Grab the nearby chest for an Angel Dress, and then examine around near the tile for another chest that has some Ninja Slippers in them. I stuck these on Yuki, as instant teleportation on the battlefield is a lot better than sluggishly running to the enemy. Go back to where the Light Sphere is. Go west this time and follow the main path, going down the stairs. Once you reach a split, go to the east. Climb the stairs you come across and then head south and take the next set of stairs. Step on the tile and backtrack to the main room and go west and make your way back to the pillars and grab the Booster Egg. Backtrack to the previous split and go north. The door behind you will lock, and there are four Forest Guardians in here. Unlike the Golems in the Baccula Ruins, these guys aren't phased by Magic, so stick with physical attacks or Special Moves. Grab the chest in this room for a Golden Elixir and then step on the tile to open the doors again. Follow the main path and step on the witch here. Backtrack to the Light Sphere and head north from it and go through the newly opened door. Grab the Tree Egg in this room and ride the lift. Head forward and talk with the Guardian. Watch the scenes and grab Seiba's Orb and then ride the lift back up. Exit the Ruins and watch the following scenes. After the scenes, you'll be in Alfina's mind. Examine the middle door first, then the door on the east, and then finally the door on the west. After checking the third door, a new passage will open up just to the left of the door, so go through it and head for the door. Another scene occurs. After that's over, another scene will start up. Our next destination is the Melc Ruins, but let's do a little prepping up first. Before going to the Melc Ruins, make sure to have these spells if you don't have them already: Absolute Zero, Galactic Bang, Runner, Diggin', and Alhealer. Make sure to at least put Runner on everyone. What I did to make Galactic Bang and Runner was that I won Volcano and Lake Eggs from the Sabatar Harbor Casino, and then got some Bomb Eggs from the Desert Lord. You can also find Bomb Eggs in the Urns in the Baccula Ruins, but the extra experience and levels weren't that bad. Anyways, combine the Volcano and Bomb Eggs to make a Mana Egg that has Galactic Bang as an extractable spell. Once you get enough of those, fuse another set of Volcano and Bomb Eggs. However, this time fuse the end result with a Lake Egg to make a Mana Egg that has Runner as an extractable spell. Make sure to get 4 of those for everyone. Make sure to restock up on healing items if you need to. It would also be a great help to stick Water Mastery on those that are using Absolute Zero to reduce the MP cost slightly. Once you're ready, make your way to the Melc Ruins. ============== Melc Ruins ============== (033) Items Enemies ----- ------- Holy Water Lesser Demon Panacea Melc Bird Crimson Potion Lich Golden Feather Madai Golden Elixir Red Beast Spirit Seed Mimic Power Seed Hydra Speed Seed Lucky Mink Smart Seed Life Seed Platinum Feather Magic Seed Fat Mogay Bomb Indigo Elixir x2 Hero's Elixir Azure Elixir Slayer Book Scout Boot Divine Book Tempest Egg Blaze Egg Flare Egg Frost Egg Judge's Cards Lorenzo Blade Divine Charm Mach Boots Aura Armor Sapphire Ring Peerless Belt Make sure to save your game once you land and equip any spells you need to. When you're ready, head into the Ruins and ride the lift to the top. Not even 5 minutes into the damn dungeon, and the game decides to throw a curveball at you. O----------------------O O----------------------O | Melc Crystal A | | Melc Crystal B | O----------------------O O----------------------O | HP | 32000 | | HP | 28000 | O----------------------O O----------------------O O----------------------O | Melc Crystal C | O----------------------O | HP | 28000 | O----------------------O -This is a tough fight, so hopefully you have someone with Alhealer on. The first thing you want to do in this fight is use Runner on everyone, and then cast Diggin'. After that, start using your best Special Moves and spells such as Absolute Zero and Galactic Bang on the Crystals. You may want to use Aboslute Zero since it will hit all of them. The Crystals aren't all that bad once the battle starts, but once you do enough damage, it'll switch forms and become really really fast and powerful, so you're going to need to be able to take a lot of punishment in this fight. If you're getting really desperate to heal, use Yoat's Orb to heal up. Just keep using moves like Dragon Slash and Red Lotus and spells like Absolute Zero and you'll win eventually. Hopefully. I'd suggest healing up, as that battle probably ate your MP. After defeating the Crystals, take the lift that's in the center of the platform. Head east and take the split to find a chest that has a Sapphire Ring in it. Continue to the north and once you reach the next split, ignore it and continue along and go west at the next split for a chest that has a Life Seed in it. Head back to the hallway and head north until you reach a split. Go northwest and open the chest here for a Crimson Potion. Backtrack to the split and go northeast this time and open the door you come across. There are three chests out here that contain a Holy Water, Panacea, and a Judge's Cards. One of the chests is easy to miss, as it's against the wall instead of a small corridor. Grab the items and use the door on the south end to re-enter the ruins. Now go east and into the first room you across. Step on the tile and head back out into the corridor and into the next room on the north. The Red Beasts in this area are really dangerous, but they have the chance of dropping a Lucky Book (I recieved one from the first one I fought) so if you want one of those, then fight them. Grab the chest in this room that has a Lorenzo Blade. Head back into the circle like room and go west. Go into the room on the southend of the room to find a chest that has a Golden Elixir in it. Now go into the room on your west and open the chest in here for a Golden Feather. Now go all the way to the end of the corridor and then up the stairs. Go down the stairs here for a chest that has an Indigo Elixir. Head north. Head east at the split and step on the tile. Now go west and then south once you reach a circle like room. If you try to get the chest here, the wall will slide all the way back. The chest itself is actually a Mimic, but there are some items down the hallway still. Use your Search function and grab the chests that have a Spirit Seed and a Divine Charm in them. There's also a Flare Egg behind the barred door you found earlier. If you wish to fight the Mimic at the end, do so. Backtrack by going north and then east, and then up the stairs. Go west to find a Blaze Egg and a Frost Egg. Now go northwest and into the center of the room. In this room, there's a switch in the middle that moves the room around. You'll find some Hydras in this room, and they're a major pain because they can Regeneration their first turn, which heals them for nearly 400 HP per turn. I suggest hitting them with your sword, and then flee when you get into a fight with them and grab the chests behind them. The first three chests contain a Speed Seed, a Divine Book, and a Hero's Elixir. Rotate the room now and grab the chests that have the following items: a Power Seed, Mach Boots, Slayer Book, Tempest Egg, Smart Seed, an an Aura Armor. There's also a Scout Book, so make sure to get that if you want. When you're ready, continue along the main path to the next area. This room is like a small maze, but it's really easy to navigate. The chests in this room contain an Azure Elixir, an Indigo Elixir, and a Peerless Belt. Once you grab them, climb the stairs to reach the second floor of this area. From here, follow the main path and go clockwise in the corridor to find a chest that has a Magic Seed. Now go west. There are two items in this room, one on each side. The chest contains a Platinum Feather, whereas there's a Fat Mogay Bomb sitting on a ledge. Now continue along the main path and you'll eventually reach the lift leading to the Guardian. Watch the scenes. After they're over, you'll obtain Unama's Orb automatically. Once you take the lift down, you'll be back at the entrance. Our next task is to find Surmania. Again, if you don't have Galactic Bang, Runner, and Absolute Zero, you better get these now, as well as level up if you feel you're lacking a little bit. Once you're ready, hop into your plane and fly towards the sky until you get the option of landing in Surmania. ============== Surmania ============== (034) Items Enemies ----- ------- Miracle Elixir Aton Lambda Hero's Elixir Gigas Pi Crimson Potion Zeptol Phi Volcano Egg Mimic General Book King Lycanthrope Revival Gem King's Drake Hell Spike Duamutef Diviner's Staff Diamond Badge Warrior's Charm Big Mogay Bomb Use the Light Sphere to heal up if you want and save. Enter the Caverns. At the split, head east and use your Search point along the way until you find two chests tucked away in the corner. Open these for a Diamond Badge and a Crimson Potion. Continue along and climb the nearby roots. Continue along once you get off the roots until you reach a split. Continue to the west and open the chest for a Diviner's Staff. Backtrack and head up the stairs. Now continue along until you reach the Light Sphere. At the split, go down the ramp and grab the chest for a Revival Gem. Go back up the ramp and follow the main path again. Cross the root you come across and then go west to find a chest that has a Hero's Elixir in it. Now continue along the main path and exit this area. Make sure to use the Light Sphere to heal up and save. Continue along and a scene will occur. O------------------O O--------------------O | Violetta | | Demon Scythe | O------------------O O--------------------O | HP | 6400 | | HP | 35000 | O------------------O O--------------------O -This is a pretty simple fight. Violetta doesn't have a lot of HP, and if she is defeated, the battle automatically ends, so focus your attacks on her. She does however have a lot of Def and Res, so it's not going to be a 2 round affair. Have Alfina and Dahna use either Absolute Zero or Galactic Bang on Violette whereas Yuki and Ulf should be cancelling both Violetta and the Demon Scythe and using their best Special Moves. Just make sure not to use your Orb at all during this fight. Watch the scenes. Use the Light Sphere to heal up and enter the Castle. Ignore the room on your west, as both of the chests in there are Mimics. Open the door straight ahead of you to find two chests containing a General Book and a Volcano Egg. Head back out and continue along the main path. Keep going to the west and open the chest for a Big Mogay Bomb. Continue along the main path and open the door. Go north and use the Light Sphere if you want. Open the chest in this room for a Warrior's Charm. Exit and continue to the west. Head south at the split and up the stairs for a chest that has a Miracle Elixir. Continue to the north and go through the door. There's a Mimic in this room, but the chest in here contains a Hell Spike for Ulf. Now continue along the main path and exit into the Courtyard. Watch the scene. Once you're in control, use the Light Sphere to heal up and save and continue along. O-----------------O O---------------------O | La-Ilim | | Undead Dragon | O-----------------O O---------------------O | HP | 36000 | | HP | 9000 | O-----------------O O---------------------O -This fight is also pretty simple. You can't damage the Crystal Skull, but make sure to Cancel its attacks. Focus all of your attacks on La-Ilim. Yuki and Ulf should be your Cancellers and they should use their best Special Moves whereas Alfina and Dahna should be spamming Galactic Bang on La-Ilim. If you kill the Undead Dragon, the Crystal Skull will just revive it, so only attack it to cancel out its attacks. As long as you use Alhealer when needed, La-Ilim shouldn't be that much of a threat. Again, just make sure not to use an orb at all. After the fight, continue along and use the next Light Sphere to heal up and save your game. Open the door and watch the scene. After the scene, head up to Emelious. O------------------O O-------------------O O---------------------O | Emelious | | Demon Sword | | Orb of Darkness | O------------------O O-------------------O O---------------------O | HP | 64000 | | HP | 48000 | | HP | 32000 | O------------------O O-------------------O O---------------------O O--------------------O | God Slayer | O--------------------O | HP | 99999 | O--------------------O -Holy crap. Now this is what I call a fight. Emelious is very dangerous, as his attacks will literally tear you apart if you don't have Diggin' on and if you don't cancel him out frequently. MAKE SURE NOT TO LET THE GOD SLAYER REACH THE ACT LINE. Cancel it out before it can reach there. Since it moves so damn slowly, you shouldn't need to worry, though. Use Unama's Orb to start off the battle and buff yourself with Runner and Diggin'. Now have Dahna and Alfina start using Absolute Zero on Emelious to damage everything at once. Use Dragon Slash with Yuki if you can and have Ulf use either Dynamite Rush or Red Lotus. The Demon Sword in my eyes is the biggest threat in this fight, so make sure to try to take it out as fast as you can. By the time Emelious can move, the Orb of Darkness should be nearly gone, so take it out and start cancelling Emelious out of his attacks and Alfina or Dahna should be using Alhealer when needed. After you take down both the Demon Sword and the Orb of Darkness, Emelious himself shouldn't be that much of a threat. Just make sure to cancel the God Slayer if it's getting close to the Act line. Watch the following scenes. ============== Raflid Alps ============== (035) Items Enemies ----- ------- Chaos Egg White Bunny Bigfoot You'd really need to try hard to get lost here. Enter and watch the scenes. After then, head to the east and then up some stairs near the gate and watch the scene. After it, make your way to the hill on the southeast part of town (it's near the Skill shop) for another set of scenes. After the scenes, you'll regain control. ============== Raflid Alps ============== (037) Items Enemies ----- ------- Crimson Potion White Bunny Necklace Bigfoot Head along the path and grab the chest along the way for a Crimson Potion. O-------------------O | Omega Breed | O-------------------O | HP | 15000 | O-------------------O -This isn't a tough fight, but make sure not to go and use your best Special Moves just yet. Since the Omega Breed has a crappy amount of HP for this point of the game, pounding him with Heaven's Gate and Galactic Bang will end this battle quickly. After the fight, continue along and use the Light Sphere. Take the split from the main path when you come across it and open the chest at the end for a Mystic Potion. Continue along and take the next split from the main path and grab the chest here for the Mars Boots. Continue back along the main path and you'll find yet another split. Stray from the main path and grab the chest that has a Spirit Elixir. Make your way to where the exit to the next area is. Before going through, however, keep following the path as it bends to find Rashik's Hammer, which is Ulf's best weapon. Now exit this area. Continue along and another fight will occur. O---------------------O | Omega Breed | O---------------------O | HP | 30000 | O---------------------O -All the enemies that it craps out have double the HP from before, so now is a good time to start using Special Moves like Dragon Slash or magic like Absolute Zero to get rid of the cronies. After they're gone, use Dynamite Rush with Ulf if you can spare the SP, and have Hect and Dahna use Heaven's Gate and Galactic Bang. Not a tough fight, but it'll take just a bit longer. After the fight, cut the nucleus and watch the scene. After it, head up a bit and grab the Spirit Ring. Make your way back to your plane now. Trust me on this. Grab the chest along the way for a Shining Nut. Once you reach your plane, head for Raflid. Go to the Raflid Alps via the gate northeast of town and head to where you found Schmidt's old plane. An Expert Book will be in the planes place now, so make sure to pick it up. Once you're done here, go back to the Xorn Shell. Make your way back to where you fought the second Omega Breed and follow the main path and you'll reach the final dungeon of the game. ============== Surmania Ruins ============== (042) Items Enemies ----- ------- Mystic Potion x2 Zeptol Omega Indigo Elixir x2 Calibus The Big One x2 Pico Omega Golden Elixir Demon Lord Panacea Excise Omega Miracle Elixir Lucky Mink Spirit Elixir Gigas Omega Healing Herb Last Keeper Hero's Elixir Staff of Light Grandalf Sublime Cards Sages Robe Phalanx Hero Armor Spirit Armor Spirit Boots Maiden's Dress Rainbow Heels Use the nearby Light Sphere and head east and go east at the split. Head to the east side and go down the stairs here and open the chest for some Sublime Cards. Make your way to the next chest for the Grandalf. Now head east and head north and follow the path around to find the Dust Egg. Follow the winding path and grab the chest you come across for an Indigo Elixir. Continue along and grab the Revival Gem as well. Continue along the main path and the floor will eventually give away underneath you and a scene will occur. After the scene, ride the lift and head north and open the door. Open the next door and open the two chests in here for a Hero's Elixir and a Sages Robe. Now make your way to the exit of this area. Take the east path first and step on the chest here. Grab the chest for a Maiden's Dress. Backtrack and step on the switch in the middle this time and head through the gates. Use the Light Sphere when you come across it. Head west and then go north for a chest that has the Staff of Light. Backtrack to the Light Sphere and go down the ramp to the north. Follow it to the east and open the chest for a Panacea. Continue along and you'll eventually find a chest that has a Mystic Potion in it. Go back down the ramp and head north and grab the two chests here for an Indigo Elixir and a Golden Elixir. Head back to the center and head west and follow the path as it goes south, and then turn and go west again. Continue going to the west and use your Search function to find a chest that the Spirit Armor in it. Head north and step on the switch and continue to the north. Grab the chest for a Spirit Elixir. Make your way to the other side of the area to find a chest that has some Spirit Boots in it. Head north from here and step on the switch and go through the gate for a chest that has a Miracle Elixir in it. Backtrack by going west and head for the first level and go down the center ramp again to reach the second level. Head down the west ramp and go north and take the next ramp going south. Keep going and grab the nearby chest for The Big One. Head south and go down the ramp and head down the next one. Make your way to the bottom and use your Search function. Grab the chest that lights up for some Rainbow Heels. Exit this area now. After the scene, make your way out of this room by going north and up the east set of stairs. The enemies in this room are a pain in the ass, so just run away from every battle. Take the lift up once you come across it. You'll find a Rainbow Light Sphere here. Make sure to take off Heaven's Gate from Hect and give it to Dahna. Open the door and watch the scene. After it, Hect will leave your party and Alfina will join it once again. Make sure to re-equip Alfina with her spells and skills, as well as Accessory, Mana Egg, and Skill Book. Alfina also has Armageddon from Hect. I suggest using 1 seed on each character to get their SP to their limits. If you talk to Hect, she'll teleport you back to your plane, but we don't need to do that hopefully. If you think you're ready, make sure to save your game and follow the light road that Hect made for you. Head up a bit more and you'll be in the final fight of the game. O----------------O | Xorn | O----------------O | HP | 128000 | O----------------O -Being the final boss of the game, Xorn has a lot of nasty attacks to use on your party, and considering how fast he can move, he'll pull off probably at least 2 per turn before you can act. The first thing you'll want to do is have everyone cast Running, and then use Diggin'. Once that's out of the way, start pummeling Xorn with Heaven's Gate. Yuki and/or Ulf should be using items to heal your party whereas Dahna and Alfina should use Galactic Bang and Heaven's Gate to damage him. When you can, use Armageddon with Alfina to lower his stats to ease the pain of the battle a little. If Yuki and Ulf get an opening to attack, have Yuki use Dragon Slash and have Ulf use Dynamite Rush to damage him a lot. After you do enough damage, you may want to consider having Alfina use Alhealer every turn and let Dahna be your main attacker. Have Ulf and Yuki use any of those Feathers you have to boost your IP Gauge. If you find yourself in a tight spot, use Unama's Orb and heal everyone up as well as buff everyone. Once Xorn gets into the 40,000 HP range, he'll start using more lethal attacks that will probably kill Dahna if she doesn't have her defense up. Once he starts getting low on health, don't hold anything back and take him out as fast as you can, because the longer he lives with low health, the more trouble you're in. If you feel you can take him out in one round with your characters, then do it. This fight will take a long time, and since it's the final fight, don't conserve any items. After the fight, sit back and watch the ending. Congratulations! You've beaten Grandia III. I hope my guide has helped you out. ========================== 4.) Bosses =================== (1BO) O-----------------O | Kornell | O-----------------O | HP | 1400 | O-----------------O -Even though he is the first boss of the game, he may give you some trouble if you still haven't grasped the basics of the battle system yet. ------------------- O------------------O | Minotaur | O------------------O | HP | 2100 | O------------------O -The Minotaur comes with 4 Fishmen Warriors and a Fishman Advisor, each with a decent amount of HP. ------------------- O------------------O | Excise Sigma | O------------------O | HP | 1200 | O------------------O -He may have a small amount of HP, but his attacks will hurt, and he can Paralyze your party, so you'll need to be aware of that. Taking out the Pico Alphas will help you win this battle quickly. Focus on them with your best spells and attacks. After they fall, Excise Sigma shouldn't be that hard to take down. ------------------- O--------------------O | Excise Sigma | O--------------------O | HP | 1200 | O--------------------O -This is pretty much the same battle as last time, but you only have Yuki and Alfina for this fight, and the Sigma comes with two Pico Alphas instead of four. You mean want to cast Diggin'. ------------------- O-----------------O O------------------O O-----------------O | Kornell | | Violetta | | Iron Fist | O-----------------O O------------------O O-----------------O | HP | 9600 | | HP | 6400 | | HP | 7200 | O-----------------O O------------------O O-----------------O O------------------O | Demon Scythe | O------------------O | HP | 8000 | O------------------O -Notice how I put all four of the enemies down for this fight. ------------------- O------------------O | Mother Breed | O------------------O | HP | 16000 | O------------------O -This thing is more of an annoyance than it is challenging. ------------------- O-----------------O | La-Ilim | O-----------------O | HP | 12000 | O-----------------O -He comes with an Undead Dragon. ------------------- O----------------------O O----------------------O | Melc Crystal A | | Melc Crystal B | O----------------------O O----------------------O | HP | 32000 | | HP | 28000 | O----------------------O O----------------------O O----------------------O | Melc Crystal C | O----------------------O | HP | 28000 | O----------------------O -This is a tough fight, so hopefully you have someone with Alhealer on. Hopefully. ------------------- O------------------O O--------------------O | Violetta | | Demon Scythe | O------------------O O--------------------O | HP | 6400 | | HP | 35000 | O------------------O O--------------------O -This is a pretty simple fight. ------------------- O-----------------O O---------------------O | La-Ilim | | Undead Dragon | O-----------------O O---------------------O | HP | 36000 | | HP | 9000 | O-----------------O O---------------------O -This fight is also pretty simple. ------------------- O------------------O O-------------------O O---------------------O | Emelious | | Demon Sword | | Orb of Darkness | O------------------O O-------------------O O---------------------O | HP | 64000 | | HP | 48000 | | HP | 32000 | O------------------O O-------------------O O---------------------O O--------------------O | God Slayer | O--------------------O | HP | 99999 | O--------------------O -Holy crap. ------------------- O-------------------O | Omega Breed | O-------------------O | HP | 15000 | O-------------------O -This isn't a tough fight, but make sure not to go and use your best Special Moves just yet. Since the Omega Breed has a crappy amount of HP for this point of the game, pounding him with Heaven's Gate and Galactic Bang will end this battle quickly. ------------------- O---------------------O | Omega Breed | O---------------------O | HP | 30000 | O---------------------O -All the enemies that it craps out have double the HP from before, so now is a good time to start using Special Moves like Dragon Slash or magic like Absolute Zero to get rid of the cronies. After they're gone, use Dynamite Rush with Ulf if you can spare the SP, and have Hect and Dahna use Heaven's Gate and Galactic Bang. Not a tough fight, but it'll take just a bit longer. ------------------- O----------------O | Xorn | O----------------O | HP | 128000 | O----------------O -Being the final boss of the game, Xorn has a lot of nasty attacks to use on your party, and considering how fast he can move, he'll pull off probably at least 2 per turn before you can act. =================== 6.) Arrange Dice =================== (1AD) Arrange Dice is a little side game for you to play whenever you want to take a small break from the game. The game is simple to play. You basically have a layout that looks like this (Note that this is the default layout): III XI IV V VI VII VIII IX X For those that don't understand Roman Numerals, the numbers are as followed: III = 3 IV = 4 V = 5 VI = 6 VII = 7 VIII = 8 IX = 9 X = 10 XI = 11 The numbers represent the cards you can use. You can change the order of them if you want to. The top right hand cards are the Lucky cards, and can be placed in the cards you want to play. Any cards you don't want to play need to go into the top right hand corner (only 2 can fit up there) and then those cards won't come into play. The key to the game is to try to get as many cards to line up next to each other as possible. To win, you need at least three cards that are adjacent to each other to be up. For example, let's say you had this layout: IV V III VII VIII X IX You get 5 dice rolls. Let's say the first two rolls were an 8 and a 10. The cards with the Roman Numerals of 8 [VIII] and 10 [X] will slide up. Now if you can get a roll of either a 7 [VII] or a 9 [IX], you'll be able to win at least a x2 increase from the Medals you bet. Meaning if you get only three cards lined up that are adjacent to each other, and you bet 200 Medals, you'll recieve 400 Medals in total. However, it's possible to line up 5 cards, but it's hard to do so. The winning totals are as followed: 3 Card Row = x2 3 Card Row [Lucky] = x4 3 Card Row [Fever] = x8 4 Card Row = x15 4 Card Row [Lucky] = x30 4 Card Row [Fever] = x60 Absolute Card [5 Card Row] = x100 Absolute Card [Lucky] = x200 Absolute Card [Fever] = x400 Snake Eyes [Double 1's] = x10 added to your prize amount A [Lucky] means that you either have a 3 [III] or an 11 [XI] in your current 3/4/5 card line up. A [Fever] means that you have both the 3 [III] and 11 [XI] in your 3/4/5 card line up. As mentioned earlier, you get 5 Dice Rolls, so it's all about luck. However, if you roll a 12, you automatically lose. Hopefully you won't end up like me and wind up getting six 12's in a row on your first roll. There are items that you can get by exchanging your Medals. They are as followed: Item Name Medal Amount --------- ------------ White Sulfer 16 Medals Panacea 24 Medals Mogay Bomb 36 Medals Revival Elixir 48 Medals Silver Feather 64 Medals Manana Fruit 240 Medals Big Mogay Bomb 360 Medals Warrior's Tonic 480 Medals Golden Feather 640 Medals Jade Charm 800 Medals Magic Pendant 800 Medals Holy Water 1600 Medals Fat Mogay Bomb 3600 Medals Staff of Healing 4000 Medals Platinum Feather 6400 Medals Rune Armor 8000 Medals Volcano Egg 12000 Medals Lake Egg 12000 Medals Indigo Elixir 24000 Medals Mysterious Clogs 45000 Medals The Gambler 80000 Medals Alluring Cards 120000 Medals Ninja Slippers 160000 Medals Master Book 999999 Medals =================== 13.)
