Introduction =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- ================================================================================ Hey everyone. This is my eight FAQ that I'm currently working on, Lord of the Rings : The Two Towers. After just watching the DVD a few days ago, it inspired me to play the game again. Thus leading me to write this FAQ which I hope will aid you through a very fun game. I will do my best to be descriptive but most importantly helpful, as I'm trying to write all the levels and secrets hopefully before the Thanksgiving weekend is over. (Note - This game was beaten on "Normal" Difficutly. If your difficulty is Easy most likely there are less enemies or they're more stupid. If you're on Hard difficulty then most likely there will be more enemies and they will be harder.) -Fantasyrealm ================================================================================ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 2. Story =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- ================================================================================ (Note - these stories were taken from the instructions manual.) It began with the forging of the great rings. Three were given to the elves, wisest and fairest of all beings. Seven to the dwarf lords, great miners and craftsmen of the mountain halls. Nine rings were gifted to the race of men who, above all else desire power. For within these rings was bound the strength and will to govern each race. But they were all of them, deceived, for another ring was made. In the land of Mordor, in the fires of Mount Doom, the dark Lord Sauron forged, in secret a master ring to control all others, and into this ring he poured his cruelty, malice and his will to dominate all life. ################### 2.1 The One Ring ################### The one ring, and innocent looking gold band, is by far the most dangerous object in the whole of Middle Earth. Put it on and the wearer becomes completely invisible. Using its powers of invisibility draws the attention of the dark lord Sauron who may dispatch sinister creatures to retrieve The One Ring. The One Ring has a strange and corruptive influence, causing greed and powerlust to many who are exposed to it. Possessing the one ring can prolong the life of its keeper but corruption from the one ring will eventually transform a normal hobbit into a selfish, hideous monster. The one ring was forged thousands of years ago by Sauron in the fires of Mount Doom. He was close to using The One Ring's full powers to dominate Middle-earth when it was cut from his hand in battle. Sauron has been trying to recapture the one ring ever since losing it, and if he does, Middle Earth will be plunged into darkness and sorrow. To prevent Sauron from possessing The One Ring, it must be destroyed forever, and this can only be accomplished by throwing it back into the fiery chasm of Mount Doom. Frodo shows remarkable resistance to the ring's evil influence so he volunteers to carry it on the perilous journey to Mount Doom. ################### 2.2 Middle-Earth ################### Middle-earth is, by and large, a pleasant place. Hobbits, Men, Elvrs, and Dwarves live in peace with one another despite their obvious cultural differences. Lately, however, there has been signs of darkness rising throughout the land. Hobbits inhabit an idyllic agricultural valley called the Shire, where they live in underground houses and have little to worry about besides nosy family members. Hobbits are very small, with big hairy feet, and they have never been known for their courage or adventurous natures. Frodo's improbable journey shows that hobbits can be the bravest and boldest of all creatures. The Men of Middle-earth are heroic but not entirely trustworthy. They are known to be selfish and have difficulty controling their desires. Even the beloved wizard Gandalf is afraid to handle The One Ring for fear of its corruptive powers. Still, Aragorn shows himself to be the best men in terms of bravery, dedication, and valor in battle. Elves are gentle, graceful creatures that live in harmony with nature. They are immortal unless killed in battle, and they conduct themselves with the wisdom and calm of the millennia they have lived. Legolas is a prince of the Elves, possessing keen eyesight, and remarkable bravery and skill with a bow. Dwarves are short, strong and often grumpy creatures that excel in underground endeavors like tunelling and mining for jewels and precious metals. Their prickly dipositions can often mask the deep bonds that they develop with relatvis and friends. Gimli is a proud dwarf, and he wields his axe with skill and might that strike fear in the heart of much larger enemies. ################### 2.3 The Fellowship ################### Gandlaf discovers the true nature of the magical ring Frodo possesses and urges him to leave the Shire. Learning of Sauron's effots to recover The One Ring, Frodo quickly escaped the Shire, dodged numerous Ringwraiths, and made his way toward the Elven stronghold of Rivendell. Here the great leader of Middle- earth discussed the problems with The One Ring and Sauron's recent activities. It was agreed that The One Ring must be taken to Mount Doom to be destroyed. After some debate (and an energetic but fruitless attempt by Gimli to destroy The One Ring with his axe) it was decided that Frodo would bear the burden of The One Ring. Several agred to accompany and protect him, including Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Boromir, Sam, Merry, and Pippin. Together they formed the Fellowship of the Ring, and set off toward Mount Doom on their epic adventure. ================================================================================ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 3. Controls =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- ================================================================================ D Pad -Move your character X -A quick attack. Weak, but it's your best friend when you gotta hit someone quick. O -Kick someone. Does minimal damaage, but it isn't meant for an attack. It can be used in conjunction with other attacks (Kick the enemy down, then do the finishing blow). You can also use it when you're face to face with more than one enemy. Kick one back and take on the other(s) . [] -A parry or block with your weapon. Rapaidly tap it and you can almost guarantee you won't get hit unless you get attacked from behind. It blocks all attacks from arrows to swords to axes. It is still unclear whether or not you can get hit when being attacked by two enemies in front of you while using a parry. /_\ -A fierce attack. You can press it and it will still to massive damage. Or you can press and hold and you will start "charging" up and release an extremly powerful and wide-ranged attack. You can tell when you're charging when your weapon is glowing green. Start -Pause the game and enter the options menu, or exit the game etc. Select -Nothing L1 -Take out your bow (for Aragorn and Legolas). To shoot your arrows, press X or Triangle. You can aim manually be moving the left analog stick. Be careful not to "push" because it is very sensitive. Instead just twiggle the analog stick. While your bow is "equipped" you cannot parry and you are very vulnerable to attack (close OR long range). L2 -Jump back. This is extremly useful when fighting trolls because you usually do a hit-and-run attack. (Ex. Run up and do a quick attack, then JUMP BACK before they slam their hammer onto you.) Or you can use it on normal enemies but it really isn't needed and I doubt even you would use it. (Most of the time you're too busy trying to hack away at the orcs then just do a stupid "jump back"). R1 -Alternate control for the parry. R2 -This is the finishing blow and it looks cool too. Approach a knocked down enemy (NOT DEAD!!!) and press R2. You character will do a little finnese with their weapon and shove it (pointy edge down) into the enemy. There is controversy whether hitting which part of the enemies body will give you a better rating. (Ex. A sword/axe into the heart will give you an excellent while a sword in the foot will give you a fair.) R3 press -This is the alternate control for kicking or knocking back. R3 up and down -When you move your right analog in a vertical (up then down) position you will do a FIERCE ATTACK. In other words it is the alternate control for a fierce attack. R3 left and right-When you move your right analog in a horizontal (left then right) position you will do a SPEED ATTACK. In other words it is the alternate control for a speed attack. ================================================================================ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 4. Kill Ratings =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- ================================================================================ In this game are "kill ratings". As the name implies, the game RATES how well you killed an enemy. The higher the rating is, the more points you'll recieve for buying upgrades. You can get one rating every time you kill one enemy. There are four ratings listed from the best to worst: -Perfect -Excellent -Good -Fair Perfect - The only way to get a Perfect is to fill up your skill meter. You can fill up your skill meter when you kill lots of enemies in a short period of time (if you kill only one enemy, and for a period you didn't kill any additional enemies, the skill meter points you recieved from killing that enemy will slowly disentegrate). You must also not get hit by attacks (basically telling you to parry more often) or the skill meter will go down. After managing to fill up the skill meter, all your attacks will be slightly stronger and each time you kill an enemy you get more experience points than normal. Note that you only have ten seconds of this "power". Excellent - This is recieved when you land a good hit (to the head or chest as opposed to the foot) when killing an enemy. Good - Not the best hit on an enemy but not that bad either. Fair - The worst rating you can get and this also earns you the least amount of experience points. Though is still very common to get this rating. ================================================================================ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 5. Character Ratings =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- ================================================================================ ######################## How to use this rubric: ######################## Health : How much health and how many hits you can take before you go down. Speed : You fast you move. Strength : How many hits it takes you to take down an enemy. R. A. : (Ranged Attacks) How skilled you are at killing enemies from afar. Range : How far your character can attack with their own primary weapon. Overall : The overall rating. I will rate each of the categories out of 10. (Ex. 10 is the best and 1 is the worst.) ######### Aragorn ######### Aragorn is the most balanced player, therefore he may be the easiest to use for beginner's. Health : 8 Speed : 8 Strength : 7.5 R. A. : 7.5 Range : 7.5 Overall : 8 ######### Legolas ######### Legolas is very good a ranged attacks and is very fast. He is above above average for everything else. He is the best character to use after you have already beat the game once. Health : 7 Speed : 10 Strength : 7 R. A. : 10 Range : 7.5 Overall : 8.5 ######### Gimli ######### He is the worst player to use in my opinion. No, it's not that his face looks like a cig butt that makes me hate him. It's his abilities! He may be the strongest but most of the missions require speed which he lacks, especially when you need to rescue "people in need". Health : 10 Speed : 4 Strength : 10 R. A. : 3.5 Range : 5 Overall : 5.5 ================================================================================ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 6. Character Descriptions =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- ================================================================================ (Note - the descriptions were taken from the manual.) ================================================================================ 6.1 Forces of Good ================================================================================ The future of Middle-Earth is in the hands of a few brave adventurers who have chosen to help Frodo destroy The One Ring. Each is a credit to his or her race, and if they are succesful they can return to their peoples to the peaceful lives the once knew. (I will put an asterick beside each of the playable character. Though there is one character to unlock that's not shown below...) #################### * Aragorn #################### Men are weak, or at least this is the commonly held belief in Middle-earth. Three thousand years ago, Isildur, KIng of the Men of Gondor, gained great renown when he cut The One Ring from the hand of Sauron, ending his villainous reign. Soon after, however, he chose not to destroy The One Ring when he had the chance to cast it into the fires of Mount Doom, and thus Men are known to be weak in character and not entirely trustworthy. Aragorn can change all of that. He is a ranger, a strong man skilled in the use of many weapons including swords. Aragorn is trained to survive in every situation. Many know him as Strider, but few are aware of his true identity as son of Arathorn and heir to Isildur's throne. He is the rightful king of Gondor, and a force to be reckoned with. #################### * Legolas #################### Legolas is a noble Elven prince, deadly accurate with his Elven bow and knowledgeable in wilderness lore. Because he is an elf, Legolas has exceptional sight and hearing, and although he will never die of old age, he can be hurt or killed in battle. Legolas is kind and graceful, and he has a deep love for the peaceful side of nature. He and his valuable bow attack are great assets to the Fellowship. #################### * Gimli #################### Gimli is a stubborn dwarf who makes up for his lack of height and grace with great strength, bravery, and tenacity. Gimli fears nothing when he has his trusty axe in hand, and his temper makes him formidable when angry. His gruff disposition keeps him from making friends easily, but as a member of the Fellowship he is a tough and loyal ally. Gimli especially dislikes elves, however during his adventures with the Fellowship he develops an unlikely friendship with Legolas. Gimli is very proud of his heritage, and looks forward to seeing his cousin Balin in the Mines of Moria. #################### Frodo #################### Frodo is the Ringbearer, a brave hobbit whose cleverness keeps him alive in the face of tremendous danger. His adventurous uncle Bilbo left him The One Ring, along with the troubles that accompany it. However, Frodo shows great resistance to the sinister powers of The One Ring and has volunteered to take it to Mount Doom and destroy it forever for the good of Middle-earth. There could not be a more difficult task. #################### Gandalf #################### Gandalf the Grey is known and respected throughout Middle-earth as a great conjurer and a genuinely wise man. He is not young, but he can use staffs and swords skillfully in combat. Nevertheless, Gandalf's true strength lies in his vast repertoire of magic spells and abilities. He is the only character capable of using magic and he uses it well. Gandalf serves as a father figure to Frodo providing leadership and protection to the young Hobbit. He would carry The One Ring himself, but his knowledge of magic is too dangerous to expose to the corruptive powers of The One Ring. ================================================================================ 6.2 Forces of Evil ================================================================================ #################### Cave Troll #################### Big, slow-witted, and dangerous, the cave troll is an awkward brute that might not be taken seriously if it weren't so horrifying. Its strength is legendary, its speed deceptively fast, and its thick hide and strong constitution make fighting one an epic event. Thankfully, its decision-making skills are lacking, and Cave Trolls despise direct sunlight. #################### Orcs #################### The footsoldiers of Sauron's evil forces, Orcs can be found throughout Middle-earth. Although mutated from Elves, Orcs are corrupted forms that stand just over five feet tall. Taking their strength and determination for less than full-size can be a deadly mistake, however especially when multiple Orcs are involved in battle. Capable of melee attacks as well as ranged attacks with bows, Orcs have no obvious weaknesses. #################### Lurtz #################### At Amon Hen, the Fellowship fights to protect Frodo from the Urak-Hai. Lurtz, their leader, is bigger and more fierce than the rest of his army, and slaying him will prove no easy task. #################### Ringwraiths (Nazgul) #################### The nine Dark Riders were once great kings, hellishly corrupted to the point of no return. They fell victim to Sauron when he gifted them rings of power, which slowly turned them to wraiths. They are now completely under the Dark Lord's control and he dispatches them throughout Middle-earth in attempts to recover The One Ring. They appear in hooded black robes, usually when the Eye of Sauron is fully fixed upon The One Ring's wearer. #################### Saruman The White #################### Once a trusted friend and advisor to Gandalf, Saruman betrayed all he once stood for to join the sinister cause of the Dark Lord Sauron. His powerful magic inspires fear in all those who oppose him, and his fortress in Isengard is home to a vast army of his own foul creation: the Urak-Hai. One cannot hope to overpower Saruman, for merely surviving any confrontation with this brilliant wizard is considered a true victory. #################### Sauron #################### The Dark Lord himself has not been physically present on Middle-earth for some time. In fact, it was over 3,000 years ago that Isildur cut The One Ring from Sauron's hand, ending his last evil reign. Today, however, Sauron grows more powerful with every passing minute. His vile armies are spreading throughout Middle-earth in an ever-expanding search for The One Ring. If he gets it, Middle-earth will be plunged into an age of unimaginable terror and violence, and Sauron will take physical form once again. #################### Uruk-Hai #################### Saruman has succeeded in crossbreeding Men and Orcs. The result is an army of stronger, faster Orcs that do not weaken in sunlight. They are capable of melee attacks, ranger attacks with bows, and pike attacks. Genetic enhancement makes the Urak-Hai larger, stronger, and far more dangerous than their standard Orc counterparts. #################### Wargs #################### The great Wargs are a terrifying breed of huge wolf-like carnivores, driven by a hunger for blood and predatory intelligence. Saruman recruits Wargs, and Orcs skilling in riding them, in his campaign to crush the nation of Rohan. Worked into a killing frenzy by the murderous Orcs, the Wargs fall upon ruined Rohan refugees as they flee their burning homes. #################### The Watcher #################### The Mines of Moria rarely sees visitors, and the Watcher is one of the main reasons why. This multi-tentacled behemoth waits patiently for prey just outside the entrance to the mines, and very rarely does a man-sized meal escape its writhing grasp. ================================================================================ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 7. Walkthrough =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- ================================================================================ Hah! Finally, the walkthrough. For each mission, I will only make a walkthrough on one character which I think is the best for that mission. If you look carefully you'll see I don't even have Gimli in here! Not that I hate him... I will rate each mission from 1-10. 1 means extremly easy, 5 is moderate, and 10 is EXTREMLY hard. Taha! Have fun! (Note - F.C means "favored character". Which MEANS which character I think is best to use for the mission.) #################### 7.1 Prologue Difficulty - 1 #################### After a long and exhausting movie which you can't skip (ARGH!!!) you get to play as Isildur. (Check pg. 12 in the picture if you want to know who the "secret" character is! It's so secret it's in the instructions manual!) It is impossible to die here so take your time. Your men will shout commands and all you have to do is follow their orders (their your men though, aren't they?). The first thing you must do is parry because there are many enemies here and it can be finished earlier if you just parry for now. A cutscene will show and now you will learn the fierce attack. It can even kill an enemy with a shield in one fierce attack, which makes it very powerful. The only way to kill an enemy with the shield is to land two consecutive hits from the fierce attack (yes, it consists of two attacks in one) on the enemy. One destroys the shield and the other gets the enemy. Another cutscene will start and after that finishes you should already get a fair idea of the controls. Practice a little further and another cutscene will come on. Sauron gets surrounded by lots of men, but in one hit Sauron sends all the men around him in the air. Isildur only gets knocked down. He reaches for his father's sword and cuts Sauron's hand off (with the ring). Isildur has the chance to destroy The One Ring at Mount Doom but because of his thirst for power (Yes, Men on Middle-earth are easily tempted by power) he doesn't. #################### 7.2 Weathertop Difficulty - 2 #################### Ringwraiths will suddenly appear and you must protect Frodo the ringbearer. (No not a ringboy you see at weddings) The only way to actually hurt the Ringwraiths is to torch em. The only character you are allowed to use is Aragorn. You will see a camp-fire and quick-attack at the fire and your sword will catch on fire. Now approach the Ringwraiths and fierce attack them for major damage. They may have to take afew hits before going down. You can tell if you brought a Ringwraith down when they catch on fire and they start running around. After a cutscene, Frodo will get really freaked and use The Ring (not the movie!). You can tell the Ringwraiths can see him because if they aren't attacking you they are attacking Frodo. Frodo's life meter will appear at the top of the screen so make sure he keeps his health. Keep running back to the camp-fire for more of the fire if you get knocked down. (The fire goes out when you get knocked down.) Kill all the Ringwraiths and a cutscene will show Frodo being carried away. This mission may be hard for people who are still adjusting to the controls but other than that it is a fairly easy mission. And yes this is the first mission where you can actually die. #################### 7.3 Gates of Moria Difficulty - 3 F.C - Aragorn #################### Oh great. The whole Fellowship gets to stay back and you and Gimli are sent to "scout ahead". When actually "scouting ahead" is killing all the enemies on the path the Fellowship want to take. The funny thing is, after you kill the enemies and the boss (yes, there is a boss!) the Fellowship comes in and they take there time and walk to the entrance. What "Fellowship".Don't worry Gimli, you're not the one I hate. Sorry about that. Let's get on with the FAQ. Come down the hill and Gimli will start talking about Orcs in this area. Three Orcs will approach you so kill them with ease. The Orcs seem to love scaring you and just so happens that tehy pop out of a wall when you continue further down the path. A cutscene will start and Gimli charges to attack some Orcs when one slips behind him. You will shoot an arrow at the Orc, right in the head. (He seems a lot like Legolas here). Moving along, there will be three archer Orcs who are very annoying. Take them out. While this is happening some more Orcs will approach you with swords so be careful. The best thing to do here is concentrate on getting the Orcs with swords first. Keep parrying after all three arrows have bee shot at you (after archer Orcs shoot at you, it takes them a while to shoot again) and you will also be parrying the Orcs who are trying to get you with their swords/axes. Take the short moment and now fierce attack them. Parry again when the arrows come and repeat the process. You have to start walking near the shallow waters of a dark, swampy lake. Be careful here because some Orcs just pop out of the water (it scared the heck out of me the first time). Gimli will actually help you out in killing the enemies which is a good thing. A cutscene will appear and you will see that Gimli get's knocked out by tentacles. It's never a good thing when a friend get's knocked out. Boss battle!!! ==================== Boss Battle- The Watcher Difficulty - 3 ==================== This boss battle mainly consists of patterns. Block, attack, attack. The Watcher may sink into the water for a few seconds so I guess you can rest your tired hands during this battle. When it attacks you with it's tentacles just parry them. When it stops attacking and it's just waving it's tentacles in the air, slice one of them off. The Watcher's ugly head will surface the water. Jump back and take a free shot at the head. Repeat the process and voila! You beat your first boss! #################### 7.4 Balin's Tomb Difficulty - 3 F.C - Legolas #################### This is one of the funnest missions to play. Not only does it make you feel proud to shoot arrows at Orcs, it's fun! I'm using Legolas for numerous reasons: 1. This mission requires you to shoot lot's of arrows, which you will need to beat the boss or kill the enemies rushing in the entrance. 2. Who's the best at shooting arrows? Legolas of course! 3. Stop using Aragorn and try leveling Legolas, he's not that bad. Along with this mission, you can run to the back of the room and just start shooting arrows from there at the Orcs and Golbins that rush in. You can kill lots of them from just staying at the back. You may miss some of the enemies but don't panic. Switch to Legolas' primary weapon and take them on head-to-head. After taking out a number of enemies a cutscene will start showing a Cave Troll run in. There are two parts in the boss battle but don't worry, he isn't that hard. ==================== Boss Battle- Cave Troll Difficulty - 4 ==================== ========== Part 1 ========== This is when the Cave Troll is just running around freely. Somehow though, it feels like the Cave Troll is FOLLOWING you. It's true. Use the Fellowship (okay fine, they help sometimes) and the enemies block the Cave Troll from getting to you. In other words, run through the crowd, which the Cave Troll can't do. Stop, and start shooting arrows at him. Repeat until he takes a certain amount of damage. ========== Part 2 ========== A cutscene will start and the Cave Troll gets pissed at you. He starts following you and you climb up on a ledge. There are large poles inbetween the walls and this is where you want to stand : behind them. First, take out the annoying orcs that climb up on the ledge. Then start shooting arrows from behind the pole. After three hits the pole will be shattered by the Cave Troll's chain. Run to the next one (I doubt you need all the poles to complete this boss battle) and repeat the process. Since you're Legolas, you have 60 arrows instead of 30 so you shouldn't be short. If you DO need arrows they're all the way to the right side of the ledge. Not a very hard boss battle to me. #################### 7.5 Amon Hen Difficulty - 4.5 F.C - Aragorn/ Legolas #################### I would choose Aragorn because you should give them both an equal chance at levelling up. It's okay if you want to use Legolas if you want to level him up only. They are both great but if you choose Legolas he is a lot quicker. In this mission, I will describe how to beat the mission without saying their names (Legolas or Aragorn) and instead say "he" or "him". This is yet another fun mission. You must kill 75 Uruk-Hai before the mission ends and you will see Frodo's life meter. Make sure it doesn't deplete 100% or else the mission is over. There are mnay Uruk-Hai here, but Gimli and Legolas/Aragorn (okay here I couldn't avoid it) are here to help out. (Dang, I would rather take them all on at once!) After taking them all out (you should be near 60 now) continue and there will be some Uruk-Hai archer perched up on the bridge. Take him out. (Ohhh! I just wish I could get the Uruk-Hai running in the backgound!) Proceed to the next area with caution. They wil shoot fire arrows and you will be trapped in the middle if you're unlucky. If you happen to be trapped, the only thing you can do is run through the fire which will take you health down a LOT. Take out the archers (they are in the forest so you can't attack them with your sword...WIMPS!) with your bow. After taking out the archers, run along and you will be surrounded both sides on a thin bridge with Gimli and Legolas/Aragorn (okay I couldn't avoid here again!). You should be nearing 0 Uruk-Hai left. If not keep killing all the Uruk-Hai on the bridge and that should be enough. A cutscene will start and this is the famous scene where Boromir get's like five arrows to the chest. Now you get to fight Lurtz the big guy who killed Boromir. You can almost smell the revenge wanted in the air... ==================== Boss Battle- Lurtz Difficulty - 4 ==================== ========== Part 1 ========== Lurtz will start shooting at you with his bow. First take out the Uruk-Hai with the long sword who approaches you. He is tougher so approach with caution. After taking him out, instead of shooting him with a bow, approach him and parry every so often to block the arrows. Get up close and personal and attack him. ========== Part 2 ========== After he takes some damage he'll throw his bow away and pick up a sword from the ground. Eliminate the Uruk-Hai who approaches you and now concentrate only on Lurtz. Run behind these pillars and when Lurtz lunges his sword at you, it will get stuck. (No..lol..it's not time to sit there and watch Lurtz struggling and trying to pull his sword out..ATTACK HIM WHILE YOU CAN!!!) Repeat the process and you should beat Lurtz. #################### 7.6 Fangorn Forest Difficulty - 5.5 F.C - Aragorn #################### After the cutscene, continue north and fierce attack the log (you can't break it with the wimpy speed attack). Some Orcs will attack you after following the path. Some have shields but they shouldn't be of any problem. You'll know have to walk through a tunnel (or huge log). Walk slowly with caution as a Uruk-Hai will crash through the cieling. (This game really freaks you out sometimes...) Take him out by parryinig, kicking back/down, do a fierce attack, then complete with a finishing move. (Something really funny is that you can keep shooting arrows at him and running away and he still won't die when there are like 10 arrows sticking out of his chest. I got one on his head too! Can you do better than that?) Exit the area and a cutscene will start and you'll see two orcs being thrown into a log. Guess who? A giant Cave Troll! Don't worry, the mission isn't over yet and it can't be classified as a BOSS FIGHT...but it can be a... ==================== Mini Boss Battle Cave Troll Difficulty - 3 ==================== It is extremly easy so don't worry. Wait until the Cave Troll clams his club down then quickly batter him up with a few fierce hits. Jump back (advised) or if you wish just run away but I doubt you have enough time to do that. Yes, he has another attack, if you're a chicken and you run away to try to shoot arrows at him, he'll retaliate! He'll start throwing these small cut up logs at you! Repeat the process and you should beat him. A cutscene will start and some stupid Orcs will start playing with each other. Their having so much fun that their knocking eachother into these pits then laughing their heads off. Their having the time of their life and they don't notice you...There are two strategies here: A.) Don't get any closer than you already are and keep shooting arrows at them from where you are. Keep hittin them with arrows and finish the few left with your primary weapon. B.) Do a kamikaze run towards them and speed attack (hack away!) them so fast before they can react. Fierce atack the rest. After dealing with the Orcs, you'll walk into a river so follow it. There are some archer Orcs and Goblins that pop out of nowhere so beware. You move very slowly so I guess it doesn't really matter. Keep going upstream and into the cave. ==================== Mini Boss Battle Cave Troll Difficulty - 4.5 ==================== Yes, there is another Cave Troll and now you're fighting in a VERY TINY space so it's impossible for you not to be clubbered at least once by this hulking beast. You can takes some damage here but you can use the same tactics as the Cave Troll before. There is some spider web (you sure it aint web from anything else?) so just fierce attack it. ASAP parry as an Uruk-Hai is waiting for you. It is shouldn't be hard to kill one so you can take your time. Parry, kick, fierce attack, then the finishing move. Keep going north and you'll be approached by several Orcs and Goblins. Don't worry, they're the same simple Orcs again unless they all gang up on you. Kick them back and take each of them on one on one. A cutscene will start showing two MORE HULKING CAVE TROLLS! First, you can take two paths, a vine path or a web path. I would take the vine path to the right first. Focus only on one. When it smashes it's club against the ground, that that little window to fierce attack. Jump back to be safe and keep working at it. Move onto the next Cave Troll and defeat them with the same method shown above. You're half way done the game! #################### 7.7 Plains of Rohan Difficulty - 6.5 F.C - Aragorn #################### Great. Now the Uruk-Hai are attacking villages. And now someone has to save them right? And I guess that someone is you! At least you'll get some assistance thought I didn't find it very helpful. Yes, Gandalf will be with you until you enter the first building. When you are at the entrance of the village, just kill the two first Uruk- Hai who are stupid enough to attack you. After you enter the village a cutscene will start: Now the health meter for the villages are shown at the top of the screen. Make sure that doesn't deplete all the way or else mission over! Kill some of the Uruk-Hai here. No you can't get past the wagons near the west side of the village. Gandalf will be standing beside a house and blast it open with his magic. Go inside, for now you must wait until the Uruk-Hai comes in behind you. Kill him after you get inside. There is a water barrel that will take out some of the water. Another cutscene will start showing how the Uruk-Hai kill this person. Their body will fall down into the fire; thus putting out the fire. Thanks! Now go up the stairs. Fierce attack the chairs/tables to get through to the Uruk-Hai killing the innocent people. Kill them and take out the guy near the door up north with your trusty bow. After running through the door, villagers will come scrambling your way. Then you'll see a HUGE Uruk-Hai stumbling around to get them. Take him out with the parry, kick back, finishing move technique. There are a few archers here after you run past the little house. There is a man trapped between the fire so shoot the water barrels. Then take out the Orc Archers. Keep running past the rooftop and you'll hear villagers screaming for help! Shoot the water barrel's and then fierce attack the barricade. Enter the building through the roof. Go down the stairs and take out the Uruk-Hai there and the one waiting for you downstairs. Once you head out the door there will be a MASSIVE amount of Uruk-Hai waiting for you to slaughter! YEA! Good thing Gandalf is here though. Slaughter them. There will be carts west, destroy them! Make sure you've killed all the Uruk-Hai first or the carts won't budge no matter how many times you charge attack it! A cutscene will start where the Uruk-Hai trap some villagers in a burning house. Go save them by heading up east-north. Kill all the Uruk-Hai there. #################### 7.8 The Westfold Difficulty - 4 F.C - Legolas #################### Yet another fun mission! I can't believe it, you can blow up idiotic Uruk- Hai running towards you with explosives on their back! What fun! And you get to have a companion to join you on your fun! Yes, a soldier will be here with you! When you see the Uruk-Hai charging, you can either shoot at the explosive- carrying Uruk-Hai, or the explosive-carrying wagon. Do this to take out the few Uruk-Hai coming at you when the level starts. The soldier with you can't die so he is actually quite helpful throughout the game. However, if you manage to save OTHER soldiers in the area, they have a lifebar (you can't see it though) and unfortunatly they don't last for more 5 mintues if you don't always try to protect him. So be helpful, and protect the dude. Keep following the path and killing the Uruk-Hai with th strategies I mentioned earlier. You'll start heading down-hill with a hill to your left. There is an explosive-carrying Uruk-Hai here so be careful. Once you head down the hill and beyond, there will be lots of explosive- carrying Uruk-Hai so take them out with your bow. Don't take your time if you have a soldier you saved. He will most likely charge on his own to attack the Uruk-Hai by himself. Make sure to take them out before they get anywhere close to him. Yoou'll need all the help you can get. A cutscene will start and the remaining soldiers will charge out to fight the Uruk-Hai (even though they are getting majorly owned). When the Uruk-Hai are running at you, you should see carts behind them. Take out your bow and just move the analog slightly near where the cart is and it'll lock on. Just press 'X' and BOOM! Most of the Uruk-Hai near there will be gone! Keep running along the path and killing the Uruk-Hai until you come to a path. Fierce attack it to get past it. Another cutscene will start and you'll have to wade through a river. There will be MANY archer Uruk-Hai here so be careful. Some Uruk-Hai will pop out of the water and every so often an Uruk-Hai will come running from the left side of shore will run at you. Take him out before he gets in the water so you can take out some of his own comrades quicker. Once you pass the lake shoot ONE of teh carts full of explosives and you'll set off a chain reaction! #################### 7.9 Gap of Rohan Difficulty - 2.5 F.C - Aragorn #################### This mission is very easy so don't worry about dying or anything because it's almost impossible to die here. Aragorn best suited to this mission because you won't need Legolas' bow that much here. Gimli and Legolas will be here to help you TEMPORARILY. There will be two Wargs here and it is quite easy to kill them. You can be a wuss and shoot them down with your bow or take them on with your sword. If you use your sword just fierce attack them. Run through the house up north-west. You must fierce attack wooden barricade and once you pass through a cutscene will start and the whole house will fall down. This seperates you from Gimli and Legolas and you must continue on yourself. There will be hordes of Wargs but only two of them will attack at a time and the others will be shooting arrows at you. I like to stand near the back in the water and wait for them to come to me. Kill all of them and a boss battle will start. ==================== Boss Battle - Overseer Difficulty - 4 ==================== Generally, it's impossible to beat this guy until it shows it chest after you don't attack it for a while. In the mean-time dodge all it's attacks and you'll be fine. Occasionally, one Warg will jump into the battle but you can take the guy out with a few shots with your bow. Never stand too close or the Warg will bite you and Overseer will take wimpy slashes at you. Other attacks are when the Warg charges at you and it's sometimes hard to dodge this. It doesn't do a lot of damage though. When Overseer reveals it's chest, quickly run up to it's side and start doing lots of fierce attacks. You can take out lots of his health but it will still take at least 2 times (of him revealing his chest) until you can beat him. #################### 7.10 Helm's Deep : The Deeping Wall Difficulty - 6.5 F.C - Aragorn #################### These last three Helm's Deep missions are the best and funnest ones to play. On the downside, they are also the hardest. Here's the starting point of where the difficulty level rises dramatically. Again Aragorn is best for this level because you don't need your bow that much. Before we begin, I will discuss the little objective bar at the top left corner of the screen. Correct me if I'm wrong: --------------------------------- | Legend | --------------------------------- | | | O Where ladders can be used | | - Walls | | | Walls | | G Where Gimli usually is | | A Where Aragorn usually is | | L Where Legolas usually is | --------------------------------- --O--- | | | | O O | | ----O---O---| |----O--O---O-- | A L G | -------------------------------- ======================================== When the bar is/has : Black - No enemies on the wall. Blue - A few enemies made it onto the wall. Yellow - A few more enemies made it onto the wall. Red - Almost over-run with enemies on the wall. Red/White Blinking - On the verge of a failed mission. Quickly kill an enemy to lower the color. Red Triangle - Enemy succesfully set up a ladder onto the wall. ======================================== I love replaying this mission just for the opening cut scene. It's raining and it's night but you're still willing to fight when you're soaked with water. For the first 5 mintues the wall should stay at blue or black. Kick the ladders when you find one up. Almost look at the bar to ensure there aren't too many ladders up. You'll have some elven soldiers who help you fight but you'll notice near the end of the mission most of them will be gone. After the first 5 mintues, the leader will order the Orcs to fire fire arrows. When this happens, block ASAP whether an Uruk-Hai is standing right beside you or not. To get instant Excellents, succesfully kick an enemy off the wall. If you see an Orc climbing up the ladder, quickly kick it off. If you're succesful the Orc will go down with it. If you're not he'll just manage to jump on the wall. Another 5 minutes into this mission, the Orcs will use catapults and hurl these fiery rocks at you. You can see them coming so run AWAY from where the rocks are coming. Don't let the word 'rocks' fool you because they are HUGE and on fire. Finally, some reinforcement will come and shoot arrows at the Uruk-Hai who made it into the wall. Aragorn will kick over the last ladder but one of the Uruk-Hais manage to BREACH THE WALL (hence the next missions name). Almost done the game!!! #################### 7.11 Helm's Deep : Breached Wall Difficulty - 8 F.C - Legolas #################### Here the missin is almost impossible to beat. You'll JUST make this mission with maybe 1% left on the door's "life" bar. I chose Legolas here because you'll need him to take out numerous explosive carrying Uruk-Hai. It'll be easy for the first 5 mintues so I suggest you not look down on this mission. A wave of explosive carrying Uruk-Hais (I'll use E.C.U.K for short) will charge at you. It's pretty simple here : take one out with your bow and it'll start a chain reaction and kill all the other E.C.U.K's. If you run short on health or arrows, run away from the door and towards the enemy to pick up lots of scattered items. Shielded Orcs and Orcs will come charging towards you. While they're coming at you, hold Triangle until your controller starts shake (or your weapons starts glowing green) and let go to let the guys have it. You should have taken out at least 3 with this attack if you time it right. Most of the time the enemies will ignore you and start attacking the door. Don't let this happen and instead stand INBETWEEN the door and the enemies. Sometimes an E.C.U.K or two will start coming at you. Wait until they get close enough and shoot them with your bow so that they take out some of the Orcs or Goblins too. A cutscene will start and now the Orcs will start shooting fire arrows at you. Take out as many as possible before the sword wielding Uruk-Hai come charging at you. Remember that enemies can stil take hits from their own team mates. Another cutscene will start and the Orcs will pull in a catapult (WUSSIES!) A cavetroll will some in but there is an easier way to be him than just hack and jump back : 1. Dodge all the Cave Trolls attacks but don't stand too far so that it'll start throwing logs at you. When you see some E.C.U.K running at you, wait until they are close enough to the troll and take him out so that the Troll gets hit too. 2. Before the Troll gets to you, charge up on your Fierce attack until you controller starts shaking or your weapons goes green. Unleash it's fury and you should be able to take out the Troll in one hit. Now the Orcs will actually use the catapult. Here's when you run all the way up to the catapult and swing away. Always use fierce attacs. For some strange reason very few enemies will attack you and the only thing damaging the door is the catapult. There are three sides to this catapult, the left side, front, and the right side. They all make up the life bar so you must out all the sides to take out the catapult. The door's life meter shouldn't be very high, it should almost be destroyed by now so don't take you time. HACK AWAY!!! After you destroy all three sides, THEN Legolas and Gimli come to finish up the rest of the remaining Uruk-Hai. #################### 7.12 Helm's Deep : Hornburg Courtyard Difficulty - 10 F.C - Aragorn #################### Yes, the last mission (technically false). And yes I gave it a difficulty of 10. And yes Aragorn should be used. I'm not kidding, Breached Wall was EXTREMLY hard but this is EXTREMLY EXTREMLY hard. It's almost impossible to beat this mission on your first try. First, lots of enemies will be hacking away at the main door so you must again protect it. It is pretty simple for now. Legolas will start yelling for help because hes surrounded near a dead end. Leave the door and let Gimli handle it. Fly up the stairs and ignore any of the Uruk-Hai or Orcs up here. Reach the end of the wall and kill all the enemies here. If you don't help Legolas he'll die and his life bar is on the left top corner of the screen. Fly back down the stairs and you'll notice a lot more enemies are here again. Hold them off until some guy shouts 'Archers on the wall!'. Fly up the stairs again and kill all the enemies on the opposite side of the wall. The door's life should be VERY, EXTREMLY, DANGEROUSLY low. A few catapulted rocks will batter your side of the wall. Again, fly back down the stairs and make sure the door's life doesn't go down anymore as you'll be faced with an even larger enemy. Here's your chance to keep doing combos and build up Aragorns level and skills. ==================== Boss Battle - 2 Cave Trolls Difficulty - 6 ==================== The difficulty really depends if you know how to beat them in a very short amount of time. The quickest way to beat them (I already mentioned this method) is to charge up your sword until it glows green or your controller starts shaking. Release and that shuold take out one. Do it to the other and mission complete! For some reason I just defeated one of the Cave Trolls and I won, with just a little blinking spot (maybe 0.01%) of the door's life was left. Maybe it was a bug or Legolas or Gimli killed the other. #################### SECRET MISSION Tower of Orthanc Difficulty - N/A F.C - N/A #################### The reason why the difficulty is N/A is because it depends on your skill. For me it is extremly easy, for my brother it's frustratingly hard. Again, the F.C is N/A because it depends which character you unlocked it for. Check 9.1 Secrets on how to unlock them. ==================== Floor 1 5 Uruk-Hai ==================== Extremly simple and basic. Take them out with Bane of Saruman or any other combo. ==================== Floor 2 4 Shielded Orcs 2 Uruk-Hai ==================== Use fierce attacks to take out the Shielded Orcs and combos for the Uruk-Hai. ==================== Floor 3 4 Orcs 2 Uruk-Hai ==================== My favorite tactic for this level. I stay in the center, hold the Triangle button and charge. I release when the enemies come and I can take out at least 2 or 3 already. ==================== Floor 4 3 Uruk-Hai 4 Shielded Orcs ==================== Same as Floor 2. ==================== Floor 5 3 Orcs 3 Shielded Orcs ==================== Same as Floor 3. ==================== Floor 6 7 Orc Archers ==================== Run around this floor and use speed attack to take out the Orc closest to you. ==================== Floor 7 4 Orc Archers 2 Orcs 2 Uruk-Hai ==================== You can't use my tactic where you charge up your weapon in the middle of the floor because there are archers now. Instead, run around speed attacking all the archers first and then take out the Orcs and Uruk-Hai. ==================== Floor 8 4 Orc Archers 4 Shielded Orcs ==================== Same as Floor 7. ==================== Floor 9 4 Orc Archers 3 Shielded Orcs 2 Orcs ==================== Same as Floor 7. ==================== Floor 10 6 Uruk-Hai 4 Orc Archers ==================== First off, take out the archers because they're using fire arrows which can do serious damage to you. The floor can catch on fire too. Run around and speed attack the archers first. All the Uruk-Hai will be chasing after you so try to get them to run into the fires the archers made. ==================== Floor 11 8 Orc Archers ==================== Same as Floor 6. The only thing is now the archers have fire arrows. ==================== Floor 12 4 Orcs 2 Orc Archers 2 Uruk-Hai ==================== Same as Floor 7. ==================== Floor 13 4 Orc Archers 4 Uruk-Hai ==================== Same as Floor 10. ==================== Floor 14 4 Uruk-Hai 2 Shielded Orcs 2 Orc Archers ==================== Same as Floor 7. ==================== Floor 15 1 Cave Troll 4 Orc Archers ==================== Finally, a little challenge. Run around the floor taking out all the Orc Archers first. Because this Cave Troll isn't shielded, you can take it out with your bow/axes. ==================== Floor 16 2 Uruk-Hai 2 Orc Archers ==================== These are the different Uruk-Hai that can actually keep up and run after you. Take out the Orc Archers first (if you don't get taken down by the Uruk-Hai first) then take out the Uruk-Hai. Don't bother with your bow/axes unless you have upgraded the most you can. ==================== Floor 17 4 Uruk-Hai 3 Orc Archers ==================== Same as Floor 16. ==================== Floor 18 1 Cave Troll 1 Uruk-Hai 3 Orc Archers ==================== Same as Floor 15. Now you have an Uruk-Hai to deal with. ==================== Floor 19 2 Cave Trolls 2 Orc Archers 2 Orcs ==================== As usual, first take out the Orc Archers while avoiding the logs being thrown by the Cave Trolls. Then the Orcs. And finally the Cave Trolls. ==================== Floor 20 2 Shielded Cave Trolls 1 Cave Troll 2 Shielded Orcs 2 Orc Archers ==================== Same as Floor 19. Now you have 2 Shielded Cave Trolls (they won't be hurt by arrows) and the Cave Troll. My best mehtod to take out at least two of them at once is (after killing everyone else) stand in the center and the Trolls will start to surround you. Charge up your Fierce attack and you'll take out at LEAST two. YOU OFFICIALLY COMPLETED THE GAME.
