Do not steal this guide, sell it in anyway, post it on your site without permission, etc. If you do, there'll be dark consequences for your actions. I have a way of knowing when you've done one of the above things, too. So don't bother trying to get away with it. If you want to post this on your site, e-mail me for permission. Okage: Shadow King for the Playstation 2 is copyright Sony Computer Entertainment America and ZENER WORKS Inc. You know what that means? That means I don't own this game nor the characters. If I did, I'd be rich and having other people slave to type this guide up for me. But I don't own it, that's how life is. I only play and obsess over this game. ===================== Table of Contents: I. Introduction/Revision History II. Ari III. Rosalyn IV. Kisling V. Big Bull VI. Linda VII. Epros VIII. Evil King Stan IX. Non-Playable But Important Characters X. Credits ===================== I. Introduction Okage: Shadow King is one of the most interesting RPGs I've played in awhile. The characters are not what you'd expect in a game. They're quirky little characters that'll make you laugh or at least smile. Be warned, this game is extremely difficult during some parts. The battle system is quite boring, yet challenging as a simple battle against even a bunny could quite kill you if you're not careful. If you have yet to play this game, I will tell you this: Only hard-core RPGers or RPGers interested in a different kind of RPG will really like this game and play it all the way through. You need to have PATIENCE when you play this! Some of the dungeons are nerve-wracking to get through. It's not easy earning money to purchase wonderful weapons and armor for your people, either. If you have the time and patience, you could quite enjoy Okage: Shadow King and savor what the game has to offer. ^_^ Revision History: Version 3.7 - Added Q of Hearts information Version 3.6 - Thanks to my friend Em, I have the level that you learn Rosalyn's Super Shield ability! Version 3.5 - I have completed the moves lists for everyone! Hurrah! There isn't too much left to do for this FAQ. Which kinda makes me sad. I am missing Rosalyn's Super Shield ability. If anyone knows what level you learn this, please let me know! Version 3.0 - I haven't done a lot about the moves - so sorry about that. I'm very slacking, I know. I will work on it more SOMETIME. Please have faith in me. ^^; This update, I have included new information to every playable character's section. It is battle information on the characters. Like their strengths in battles and weaknesses, etc. Take a look, why don't you? I also corrected a few errors grammatically speaking. Version 2.0 - Wow, I totally forgot to add ATK value for some weapons. Got that fixed. I added in Rosalyn's and Kisling's armor. Corrected a few errors for moves, but other than that I haven't touched the moves sections. I haven't played Okage much since I got Kingdom Hearts for my birthday. Kingdom Hearts is a great game. ^_^ It's fun and makes me laugh a lot, like Okage does. If you feel frustrated with Okage, maybe you should go and rent Kingdom Hearts for a breather. Anyhow! Hrm, what else...what else... Oh, yes. No one reminded me about Julia! I added in Julia to the non-playable but important characters section. #HEADLINE!# Some information about Epros' Q of Hearts has come in! See the Epros' weapons section for details! Version 1.0 - Everything you see here. Introduction, starting stuff for the main characters, and main information over lesser characters. More information will be coming soon! ===================== II. Ari [100%] Name: Ari Age: 16 years old Occupation: An ordinary boy Element: White [Neutral] A quiet boy whose existence seems overshadowed. Father is an assistant manager of Tenel village. Mother is a housewife. Seems to be without note, but... Ari is the guy you'll be controlling in this game. You can change his name at the beginning of the game or leave it as Ari. Ari is a strong, silent type. Actually, you make him say quite a number of things (three options of text [one positive, one negative, one sarcastic, usually] will appear frequently), but no one listens to him anyway. Poor Ari. Anyway, Ari gets possessed by Evil King Stan at the beginning of the game in order to save his sister from the dreaded Pig Latin curse. Now with a talking shadow bent on world domination, Ari has to go out into the world to help his master regain power taken by fake Evil Kings. Along the way, Ari will encounter a number of quirky characters and have some of the eccentric folks join him. *Ari's Battle Statistics* Ari excels in a lot of the categories. Why shouldn't he? He's the main character of the game, after all. Plus you have to always have him in your party. Rosalyn [100%] Name: Rosalyn Age: 22 years old Occupation: Hero Element: Blue [Ice] Master of the rapier, reluctant devotee of the parasol. Used to be an elite hero but since she met Stan, she puts up with insults while being a comic-relief hero. Rosalyn was a famed hero until her encounter with Evil King Stan. Stan pretty much ruined her life and turned her shadow pink (thus why she carries a parasol around). Rosalyn joins your team after the fight with the Sewer Evil King in chapter 2. Rosalyn and Stan can be found bickering, arguing, squabbling, and for a change of pace - insulting each other. Rosalyn only wishes to have her shadow back to normal and continue being a great hero. *Rosalyn's Battle Statistics* Rosalyn is the fastest person in Okage. Her speed is better than even Ari's. She is definately a good person to use for boss battles or even regular tough battles that require you to act quickly. Hit Points: Average Attack: Above Average Defense: Low Magic: Low Luck: Average Agility: High *Rosalyn's Moves* Name: Charged Parasol What it does: Attack with a thunder element HP/LP Used: 5% HP Learn: Level 19 Name: Burning Parasol What it does: Attack with a fire element HP/LP Used: 5% HP Learn: Level 50 Name: Frost What it does: Weak ice attack HP/LP Used: 2 LP Learn: Level 9 Name: Ice What it does: Medium ice attack HP/LP Used: 5 LP Learn: Level 26 Name: Crystal What it does: Strong ice attack HP/LP Used: 8 Learn: Level 44 Name: Antidote What it does: Cures abnormal status HP/LP Used: 2 LP Learn: Level 22 Name: Blessing What it does: Cures all curses HP/LP Used: 5 LP Learn: Level 37 Name: Parasol Amulet What it does: Provides defense against poison, sleep, seal, and paralysis HP/LP Used: 10% HP Learn: Starting ability Name: Seal What it does: Seals enemy's magic (medium) HP/LP Used: 4 LP Learn: Level 30 Name: Shield What it does: Raises defense HP/LP Used: 4 LP Learn: Level 33 Name: Silence What it does: Seals enemy's magic (strong) HP/LP Used: 5 LP Learn: Level 40 Name: Super Shield What it does: Raises defense for all allies HP/LP Used: 10 LP Learn: Level 46 Name: Powerless What it does: Lower enemy's attack power HP/LP Used: 4 LP Learn: Level 14 *Rosalyn's Weapons* Name: Ordinary Rapier (ATK +10) Acquired: When Rosalyn first joins you/Triste Shop for 660 sukel Name: Hardy Rapier (ATK +15) Acquired: Wandering Peddler/Pospos Spa/Triste Shop for 2100 sukel Name: Slim Rapier (ATK +20) Acquired: Triste Shop for 80000 sukel Name: Sparkling Rapier (ATK +20) Acquired: Deep Grave Pit Name: WhiteRose Rapier (ATK +30) Acquired: Highland Village Shop for 177000 sukel Name: Gallant Rapier (ATK +40) Acquired: Have the highest compatibility with Rosalyn (choosing answers in text that favor Rosalyn will get you that high compatibility); event in Triste leads to receiving this weapon. *Rosalyn's Armor* Name: Swordsman Armor (DFNS +4) Acquired: When Rosalyn first joins you/Triste Shop for 440 sukel Name: Chief's Armor (DFNS +6) Acquired: Wandering Peddler/Triste Shop for 1250 sukel Name: Magical Armor (DFNS +9) Acquired: Madril Sewer Name: Honorable Armor (DFNS +15) Acquired: Pospos Spa/Triste Shop for 12000 sukel Name: Hero's Armor (DFNS +17) Acquired: Triste Shop for 55500 sukel ===================== IV. Kisling [100%] Name: Kisling Age: 45 Occupation: Ghost Expert Element: Yellow [Thunder] An ecclectic, dedicated scholar of spooks. Stalks pretty girls under the guise of doing field work. Loves clipping toenails for fun. When you first see Kisling, he is lost in thought and reciting lots of scientific stuff that, unless you really wish to pay attention to him, is totally confusing. Kisling does that a lot in this game, unfortunately. Kisling joins the party soon after Rosalyn. In fact, he joins because of Rosalyn! He's somewhat the voice of reason at times when Stan and Rosalyn bicker. Somewhat. Kisling is thought of majorly as the weakest player in the game. Not necessarily true. Kisling lacks in the strength, but he makes up for it in magic after level 30 or so. Do be cautious of his low HP, though. *Kisling's Battle Statistics* Kisling severely lacks in almost all of the categories except magic until you get him nice things. While you may want to quit using him in your regular party after you get Big Bull, it's a good idea to keep leveling him up from time to time. He is a handy guy for the fight against Phantom Evil King. Hit Points: Low Attack: Low Defense: Low Magic: High Luck: Average Agility: Below Average *Kisling's Moves* Name: Flaming Tome What it does: Fire attack HP/LP Used: 5% HP Learn: Level 19 Name: Freeze Book What it does: Ice attack HP/LP Used: 5% HP Learn: Level 47 Name: Storm What it does: Thunder attack [medium] HP/LP Used: 2 LP Learn: Level 12 Name: Mega Storm What it does: Thunder attack [strong] HP/LP Used: 5 LP Learn: Level 32 Name: Maximum Voltage What it does: Thunder attack [super strong] HP/LP Used: 8 LP Learn: Level 52 Name: Speedy What it does: Increases speed HP/LP Used: 4 LP Learn: Level 15 Name: Hyperdrive What it does: Increase all allies' speed HP/LP Used: 10 LP Learn: Level 37 Name: Paralyze What it does: Paralyzes an enemy [strong] HP/LP Used: 8 LP Learn: Level 42 Name: Immobilize What it does: Immobilizes group of enemies [medium] HP/LP Used: 8 LP Learn: Level 57 Name: Spell Suction What it does: Drains LP of enemies HP/LP Used: 10% HP Learn: Starting ability Name: Burden What it does: Slows enemies' speed HP/LP Used: 4 LP Learn: Level 23 *Kisling's Weapons* Name: Ghost Basics (ATK +5) Acquired: When Kisling joins you/Triste Shop for 410 sukel Name: Ghost Pictorial (ATK +10) Acquired: Wandering Peddler/Triste Shop for 1600 sukel Name: Ghostologos (ATK +15) Acquired: Escapeless Abyss Name: Worldly Ghost (ATK +20) Acquired: Pospos Spa/Triste Shop for 17000 sukel Name: Ghostosystem II (ATK +30) Acquired: Highland Village Shop for 130000 sukel Name: Ghostomicon (ATK +60!!) Big Bull [100%] Name: Big Bull Age: Can't remember Occupation: Furious Fighter Element: Red [Fire] A nice guy who loves blood, sweat, and battle. Dreams of establishing a school for muscle men and creating a muscle paradise. Big Bull is the macho guy of the game. Who is also an Evil King. You get Big Bull after fighting him in chapter 4 in the Big Tree Hole. He's a high-spirited man... ...er... ...bull... ...whatever he is - he's high-spirited. Big Bull would love nothing more than a good fight full of perspire and challenge. If you want someone in your party who can swing good punches and withstand a few blows, Big Bull is your guy. Woo, doesn't he just get your adrenaline rushing? *Big Bull's Battle Statistics* Big Bull throws great punches and has high HP. His defense and agility are lacking, though. He is excellent to use for bosses with high HP or high defense. Hit Points: High Attack: High Defense: Low Magic: Low Luck: Average Agility: Low *Big Bull's Moves* Name: Cold Knuckles What it does: Punching with an ice element HP/LP Used: 5% HP Learn: Level 27 Name: Flash Punch What it does: Punching with a thunder element HP/LP Used: 5% HP Learn: Level 33 Name: Flame What it does: Fire attack on all enemies [low] HP/LP Used: 2 LP Learn: Level 36 Name: Fire What it does: Fire attack on all enemies [medium] HP/LP Used: 5 LP Learn: Level 48 Name: Blaze What it does: Fire attack on all enemies [strong] HP/LP Used: 8 LP Learn: Level 59 Name: Charge What it does: Increases attack power HP/LP Used: 4 LP Learn: Level 30 Name: Super Charge What it does: Increases attack power for all allies HP/LP Used: 10 LP Learn: Level 53 Name: Wild Cry What it does: Causes enemies to run away HP/LP Used: 1 HP Learn: Starting ability Name: Defenseless What it does: Decreases enemies' defense HP/LP Used: 4 LP Learn: Level 44 *Big Bull's Weapon [yes, only one weapon!]* Name: Battle Manual (ATK +20) Acquired: When Big Bull joins you *Big Bull's Armor* Name: Infantry Pants (DFNS +5) Acquired: When Big Bull joins you/Triste Shop for 2600 sukel Name: Blood&Sweat Pants (DFNS +6) Acquired: Triste Shop for 38000 sukel Name: Inferno Pants (DFNS +8) Acquired: Highland Village Shop for 66600 sukel ===================== VI. Linda [100%] Name: Linda Age: Top secret! Occupation: Teen Idol Singer Element: Blue [Ice] Former Teen Idol Evil King with cute smile. Admires Evil King Stan calling him Coach. Possesses a musical, magical, pop heaven voice. Ever dreamed of a day when a gorgeous teen idol singer joins your party? Well, Linda comes to join the party in chapter 4 after you battle her in the Sealed Cave! Yet you meet her much earlier in the game, after the events with the Sewer Evil King, actually. At first it seemed like Linda wanted Ari, but it was discovered in the Sealed Cave that she actually likes Stan and finds Ari to be some kind of doll (poor Ari). She's a fine addition to the gang, nevertheless. She's sweet, pretty, and can deliver a pretty mean hit with her microphone! Did I mention she has horns...? *Linda's Battle Statistics* Linda may at first seem totally useless compared to Rosalyn, but her defense is great. Don't toss her aside when you first get her. Hit Points: Average Attack: Below Average Defense: High Magic: Average Luck: High Agility: Above Average *Linda's Moves* Name: Thunder Peck What it does: Attack with thunder element HP/LP Used: 5% HP Learn: Level 45 Name: Crimson Kiss What it does: Attack with fire element HP/LP Used: 5% HP Learn: Level 52 Name: Replenish What it does: Restores all allies' HP by 70 points HP/LP Used: 15 LP Learn: Level 40 Name: Revitalize What it does: Restores all allies' HP fully HP/LP Used: 30 LP Learn: Level 60 Name: Omni Concert What it does: Slows down enemies HP/LP Used: 10% HP Learn: Starting ability Name: Charmer What it does: Raises everyone's critical hit percentage HP/LP Used: 4 LP Learn: Level 32 Name: Deflector What it does: Decreases ALL magic damage done by half HP/LP Used: 4 LP Learn: Level 34 Name: Match What it does: Makes allies and enemies speed the same HP/LP Used: 4 LP Learn: Level 36 Name: Full Power What it does: Increases everyone's strength HP/LP Used: 4 LP Learn: Level 42 Name: Dispel What it does: Releases everyone's affects from spells HP/LP Used: 4 LP Learn: Level 48 Name: Repulsor What it does: Decreases all physical damage by 50% HP/LP Used: 4 LP Learn: Level 56 *Linda's Weapons* Name: Mike o'Hope (ATK +20) Acquired: When Linda joins you/Highland Village Shop for 50000 sukel Name: Mike o'Happiness (ATK +25) Acquired: Assashi Maze Name: Love Mike (ATK +30) Acquired: Highland Village Shop for 98000 sukel *Linda's Armor* Name: Stage Dress (DFNS +12) Acquired: When Linda joins you/Highland Village Shop for 45000 sukel Name: Treasured Dress (DFNS +13) Acquired: Deep Grave Pit Name: Celeb Dress (DFNS +15) Acquired: Highland Village Shop for 90000 sukel ===================== VII. Epros [100%] Name: Epros Age: Unknown Occupation: Mysterious Wizard Element: Yellow [Thunder] Info: Mysterious roaming interloper and snappy dresser. Obsessed with the search for magical power and discovering the truth of the world. Ere thee jump to a conclusion, Epros be a stylish man, not a clown woman, to settle all of thy confusion! He is also the former Phantom Evil King, which is what you know him as for a few chapters. He joins your party after you defeat him in chapter 6. Epros is a guy that's hard to understand sometimes. He talks in old-fashioned rhymes that can be a little hard to interpert. Epros isn't the most powerful character in this game, but he's really neat. Doth thou like floaty men? Come hither for Epros floats now and then! Epros is a man of fashion and apparently likes a good game of cards, as his weapons are cards, which can deal a fair number of damage. Even though he's a wizard, don't be fooled - his magic in status is zero. So don't expect much from him in the magic department. But Epros floats! Doesn't that give him a few cool points? *Epros' Battle Statistics* Epros may seem entirely worthless, but he's not. He is pretty balanced in all the categories, minus magic. He can hold his own ground in battle. Hit Points: Average Attack: Above Average Defense: Average Magic: Low Luck: Average Agility: Average *Epros' Moves* Name: Red Mask What it does: Attack with fire element HP/LP Used: 5% HP Learn: Level 46 Name: Blue Mask What it does: Attack with ice element HP/LP Used: 5% HP Learn: Level 53 Name: Drain What it does: Steal an enemy's HP to restore your own HP/LP Used: 6 LP Learn: Level 42 Name: Consume What it does: Steal all enemies' HP to restore your own HP/LP Used: 12 LP Learn: Level 57 Name: Random What it does: Cast various magic effects on the enemies HP/LP Used: 10 LP Learn: Level 50 Name: Soul Binding What it does: Turns a weakened enemy into an item HP/LP Used: 10% HP Learn: Starting ability Name: Cringe What it does: Makes an enemy defend instead of attack for a turn HP/LP Used: 1 LP Learn: Level 44 Name: Cower What it does: Makes all enemies defend instead of attack for a turn HP/LP Used: 3 LP Learn: Level 48 *Epros' Weapons* Name: J of Diamonds (ATK +10) Acquired: When Epros joins your party Name: Q of Hearts (ATK +15) Acquired: Drop from Masterless Swords Name: K of Clubs (ATK +20) Acquired: Rashelo Shop for 150000 sukel Name: A of Spades (ATK +40) Acquired: Have the best compatibility with Ari's dad (positive and upbeat responses will get you good compatibility with him); Ari's dad will hand over the item when you talk to him during chapter 5 onward after talking to a fortune teller telling you to go home and pay your dad a visit *Epros' Armor* Name: Dazzling Tux (DFNS +6) Acquired: When Epros joins your party Name: Conjurer Tux (DFNS +12) Acquired: Pospos Spa for 100000 sukel ===================== VIII. Evil King Stan [100%] Stan may not be a playable character, but since he is pretty much the biggest character in this game, he must get his own section! ^_^ Evil King Stanley HiHat Trinidad XIV (but you may call him Stan) enters this story in a bottle. No, he's not a genie in a bottle. Stan is a powerful ruler whose mere gaze strikes fear in the hearts of people (or so he once was able to do so). Centuries ago, Stan was sealed away in a bottle. During that time, his power was eaten away by various spirits (which leads to the birth of 'fake' Evil Kings). One day, Ari's father finds an unusual bottle and brings it home with him. Some time later, Ari's sister, Annie, becomes cursed with the Pig Latin curse. Ari's father makes an amazingly accurate prediction about the bottle being able to help Annie. Thus, Stan gets summoned by Ari's family. A ghost appears. It's Stan's butler, James. He tells Ari's family that Master Stan needs a shadow to haunt. Ari is chosen to become Stan's slave, and Stan cures Annie from the curse, but since his powers aren't fully there - Annie is left with a pink shadow. This Evil King searches to regain his powers back by fighting fake Evil Kings and continue his quest for conquering the world. Why is it, though, that this large, pseudo-villian shadow cannot be taken seriously by anyone, including his own slave? The poor master is constantly thought of as a neat trick and receives many laughs. Will Stan ever regain his human body and all of his powers? Hrm, you'll have to play the game to find out. *Stan and Battles* Occasionally in battle (usually when Ari's HP drops to the red mark), Stan will use an attack called Crushing Devil against the enemy. His attacks are strong and very useful if you're lucky enough to get him to strike during a boss fight. At totally random (I have not noticed a single trend, so I assume it's random) times before a fight, Stan will pop up and ask you a question (which can scare you if you're unprepared for it). I hope to soon get a complete list of the questions and correct answers here. If you please Stan with a correct response to his question, he'll deliver the first blow (Raging Devil) in battle. ^_^ If you answer incorrectly (or purposely just pick funny responses), he will not attack. For example, one of the times he pops up before a battle may look like this: "Slave, I need positive reinforcement. What do you think about me? Speak quickly and make it good!" First selection: 1. A dainty 2. A translucent 3. A soft skinned Second selection: 1. cute 2. bloated 3. well endowed Third selection: 1. spaceman! 2. scammer! 3. Dark Majesty! If you choose a dainty cute Dark Majesty, Stan will be pleased and strike the enemies. If you choose a translucent bloated scammer, Stan will get mad and not attack. There isn't really just one correct answer for each question. In fact, there are different responses for the same question! Thus, answers shall vary. *Stan's Compatibility Gift* If you have the highest compatibility with Stan (choose responses that favor Stan), then in chapter 5, talk to the fortune teller in Madril. She'll tell you to stay the night. Stay the night. Then leave the hotel. A funny scene will occur. At the end of it all, Ari's abiltiy will be increased (ATK/DFNS +5). ===================== IX. Non-playable But Important Characters [99%] Also known as NPCs you don't easily forget. *James* James is Stan's faithful butler. Uh, somewhat. He gets a life (AKA a chick) as the game goes on, though. Yet James will appear and provide some progression to the storyline from time to time. *Ari's Family* This is unusual to see an RPG game where the main character has a family that you actually interact with. Anyway, Ari has a family. A mom [Ari's Mom], a dad [Ari's Dad], a sister [Annie], and grandparents [Ari's Grandfather and Ari's Grandmother]. They're not a normal family, though. Well, maybe they're normal considering it's the world of Okage. Ari's dad is one of possible people you can have a high compatibility with. Choose answers that are upbeat, positive, happy, etc. to get good compatibility with him. Then, during chapter 5, talk to the fortune teller in Tenel. She'll tell you to pay a visit to your dad. Go ahead and see ol' daddy dearest. He'll exclaim that he heard they have the best chemistry in the world and give you the A of Spades, which is the best weapon for Epros (ATK +40). *Princess Marlene* Princess Marlene is one of the most respected people in the world of Okage. Yet...she's a total brat as a result of that. Princess Marlene starts following the gang after they rescue her from the Bubbles Evil King in Rashelo. She claims to own 2/3 of Ari (70% when you round it), and that Stan only owns 1/3 of Ari (30% rounded). Princess Marlene does rather like Ari, though, and her confusion is shown once in awhile about her feelings. Marlene's compatibility gift is the Reunion Outfit. Choosing answers that favor Marlene will get you high compatibility with her. During chapter 5, talk to the fortune teller in Rashelo and stay the night. When you wake up in the morning, you'll have the Reunion Outfit (DFNS +16). *Beiloune* Princess Marlene's butler. He's a kind of weird guy... *Fake Evil Kings* There's a number of fake Evil Kings (7, to be exact) you fight and as you already know, some join your party. But others don't, so they're listed here: Block [Circus Evil King] - You don't ever fight him, but his powers were given to the Sewer Evil King. Block provides you with a lot of information throughout the game. Sewer Evil King - The first fake Evil King you fight; found in the sewers of Madril. Bubbles Evil King - A fake Evil King without much of a plan; found underwater of Rashelo. Former Chairman Evil King - A fake Evil King with business knowledge; orginally found in Madril; fight him in the Escapeless Abyss. Vampire Evil King - This fake Evil King wants to suck your blood! Really! It'll help him become the ultimate Evil King or something; found in Highland Village. *Julia* Childhood crushes are such a memorable thing. Unfortunately for Ari, he doesn't have a very good memory of his crush, Julia. She dumps him at the beginning of the game when Ari gets possessed by Stan. She's just not one for guys with talking shadows. I wonder why. Julia has a compatibility gift, the Owl's Amulet. Method to securing her compatibility not found yet. *Mysterious Woman* She contributes nothing to the story, but if you're particularly apathetic, she gives you the Daymare Ring. ===================== X. Credits The members of the GameFAQs message board for coming together to figure out the Q of Hearts mystery. Several e-mails of years past for working on the Q of Hearts mystery as well. Very special thanks to falconesque for renewing my interest. ===================== Here's to hoping for a few more mysteries to be solved!
