Introduction ************************************************************** ****************************************************************************** This FAQ will cover every gun featured in The Punisher for the Sony Playstation 2. Believe it or not, this is my third gun FAQ. If you notice a mistake or something I failed to include, please email me, credit will be given, so make sure to include your username. ****************************************************************************** 2. Version History *********************************************************** ****************************************************************************** 1.0 - February 05, 2005 1.1 - February 08, 2005 Added more info about each gun. 1.2 - February 22, 2005 Added the special upgrades affecting the .40 cal Submachine Gun and the Auto Shotgun. Also added some additional text to their sections. Made minor changes to the text in the sections of the 7.62mm Assault Rifle and the Machine Pistol 5.56mm. ****************************************************************************** 3. 5.56mm Assault Rifle ****************************************************** ****************************************************************************** In-game text description: "Fires 5.56mm rounds at 3100 feet per second." Punisher's in-game audio description: "When a high speed 5.56mm round enters the human body, it turns sideways and rips several inches through muscle and tissue, and then shatters for when I really want to hurt someone." When this gun's unlocked: After completing the Central Zoo level Approximate reload speed: 2 seconds Magazine/clip/chamber capacity: 30 rounds Default ammo capacity: 150 rounds Ammo capacity after first upgrade: 189 rounds Ammo capacity after second upgrade: 229 rounds Ammo capacity after third (max) upgrade: 270 rounds Special upgrade(s) affecting this gun: Attach Scope and Attach Grenade Launcher This fully automatic rifle is powerful. Because of it's power, there's muzzle rise which takes away from it's accuracy. Aiming still shouldn't be a problem though, unless you're going for head shots while firing continuously. When going for head shots, it's best to fire one shot at a time by simply tapping the R1 button. Generally enemies will die with two to three body shots from this gun. With a full magazine of ammo you can fire continuously for 3 seconds before having to reload. This is one of two guns lucky enough to have two upgrades. The scope only has one magnification ratio, there's no zooming in or out, but even so it will still make head shots a breeze. The grenade launcher seems more useful than it is, not every level has frag grenades, which is the only type it can fire. Some levels only have moltovs and flash bangs which aren't grenade launcher friendly. Two of these can be picked up and fired at the same time, but you must drop one when it's time to reload, interrogate someone, climb a ladder, or enter slaughter mode. ****************************************************************************** 4. 7.62mm Assault Rifle ****************************************************** ****************************************************************************** In-game text description: "Versatile, reliable, and easy-to-use." Punisher's in-game audio description: "This is an American update of a Russian Classic, fires 7.62mm rounds in semi-automatic or three round bursts." When this gun's unlocked: After completing the Pier 74 level Approximate reload speed: 3 seconds Default Magazine/clip/chamber capacity: 30 rounds Magazine capacity after upgrade: 75 rounds Default ammo capacity: 120 rounds Ammo capacity after first upgrade: 150 rounds Ammo capacity after second upgrade: 179 rounds Ammo capacity after third (max) upgrade: 210 rounds Special upgrade(s) affecting this gun: Increase Magazine Size This fully automatic rifle is powerful. This is one of four guns with the "Increase Magazine Size" upgrade, which allows each magazine to hold 45 more rounds. This gives you longer continuous firing time. Two of these can be picked up and fired at the same time, but you must drop one when it's time to reload, interrogate someone, climb a ladder, or enter slaughter mode. ****************************************************************************** 5. Auto Shotgun ************************************************************** ****************************************************************************** In-game text description: "A precision-engineered, lead-breathing dragon." Punisher's in-game audio description: "This full auto shotgun is overkill, but in a good way. The mechanism is smooth. Almost no recoil and pumps out enough shot to stop an eighteen wheeler." When this gun's unlocked: After completing the Takagi Building level Approximate reload speed: 2 seconds Default Magazine/clip/chamber capacity: 10 rounds Magazine capacity after upgrade: 20 rounds Default ammo capacity: 40 rounds Ammo capacity after first upgrade: 49 rounds Ammo capacity after second upgrade: 59 rounds Ammo capacity after third (max) upgrade: 70 rounds Special upgrade(s) affecting this gun: Increase Magazine Size This automatic shotgun is ideal for close range shots. It fires incredibly fast, for a shotgun anyway. It will kill most enemies with one shot regardless of where you hit them, and sometimes more than one enemy at a time if they're close together. If an enemy's wearing Kevlar, say goodbye to one shot kills, unless you aim for the head. At medium range this gun will kill enemies with one to two shots. Now for long distance shots... don't use it for that. This gun is practically useless from far away, but that's not what it was made for. This is one of four guns with the "Increase Magazine Size" upgrade, which allows each magazine to hold 10 more rounds. Two of these can be picked up and fired at the same time, but you must drop one when it's time to reload, interrogate someone, climb a ladder, or enter slaughter mode. This gun seems to be equal in terms of power with the pump action shotgun, but this gun is much faster. ****************************************************************************** 6. Battle Rifle ************************************************************** ****************************************************************************** In-game text description: "The future of infantry warfare." Punisher's in-game audio description: "Lots of bells and whistles, but it has a trigger, ammo, a barrel, and that's all I need. It also fires high explosive grenades with a detonation delay." When this gun's unlocked: After completing the Stark Towers level Approximate reload speed: 2 seconds Magazine/clip/chamber capacity: 30 rounds Default ammo capacity: 120 rounds Ammo capacity after first upgrade: 149 rounds Ammo capacity after second upgrade: 189 rounds Ammo capacity after third (max) upgrade: 210 rounds Special upgrade(s) affecting this gun: Attach Grenade Launcher This fully automatic rifle comes already equipped with a scope. It only has one magnification ratio, there's no zooming in or out, but even so it will still make head shots a breeze. Despite being very powerful, this gun has absolutely no muzzle rise. It's like this gun took the best qualities of an assault rifle, a sub machine gun, and then combined them to make one awesome weapon. Generally enemies will die with two to three body shots from this gun. With a full magazine of ammo you can fire continuously for 3 seconds before having to reload. This is one of two guns with the "Attach Grenade Launcher" upgrade, which seems more useful than it is, not every level has frag grenades, which is the only type it can fire. Some levels only have moltovs and flash bangs which aren't grenade launcher friendly. Two of these can be picked up and fired at the same time, but you must drop one when it's time to reload, interrogate someone, climb a ladder, or enter slaughter mode, and believe it or not there isn't any muzzle rise when firing two of these at that same time. ****************************************************************************** 7. Hand Cannon *************************************************************** ****************************************************************************** In-game text description: "For times when size matters." Punisher's in-game audio description: "I use this when I want to make a good first impression. Weighing five pounds fully loaded, it packs three times the muzzle energy of a .44." When this gun's unlocked: After completing the Gnucci Estate level Approximate reload speed: 2 seconds Magazine/clip/chamber capacity: 06 rounds Default ammo capacity: 44 rounds Ammo capacity after first upgrade: 54 rounds Ammo capacity after second upgrade: 65 rounds Ammo capacity after third (max) upgrade: 76 rounds Special upgrade(s) affecting this gun: None As one may guess from this gun's name, it is very powerful. It'll generally take between one or two shots to kill enemies. Despite being a revolver, it reloads fairly quickly. Very powerful, pretty fast reload speed, and you have one in each hand, it doesn't get much better than that. This gun is more powerful than the revolver, but inferior in terms of speed. ****************************************************************************** 8. Machine Gun *************************************************************** ****************************************************************************** In-game text description: "30 pounds of belt-fed, hip-fired, hell-on-earth." Punisher's in-game audio description: "In Vietnam we called it the hog. The barrel has a habit of melting down so mine are custom made. To change a barrel in the field, I bring oven mitts." When this gun's unlocked: After completing the Grey's Funeral Home level Approximate reload speed: 4 seconds Magazine/clip/chamber capacity: 100 rounds Default ammo capacity: 300 rounds Ammo capacity after first upgrade: 360 rounds Ammo capacity after second upgrade: 433 rounds Ammo capacity after third (max) upgrade: 500 rounds Special upgrade(s) affecting this gun: None This fully automatic machine gun is perfect for letting loose on the enemy. It has a lot of muzzle rise, and is probably the least accurate gun in the game, but that's perfectly fine for this gun. Each magazine holds 100 rounds, which will give you 10 seconds of continuous firing time, before having to reload. More than enough time to hit whatever you're aiming at. This gun can also fire in bursts of four by tapping the R1 button, if all 4 bullets connect with an enemy, it should be more than enough to kill him. Two of these can be picked up and fired at the same time, but you must drop one when it's time to reload, interrogate someone, climb a ladder, or enter slaughter mode. ****************************************************************************** 9. Machine Pistol .45 cal **************************************************** ****************************************************************************** In-game text description: "18 rounds per second, right in the palm of your hand." Punisher's in-game audio description: "Compact and convenient. It fires the same ammo as my .45 caliber semi-automatic, which saves even more space." When this gun's unlocked: After completing the Chop Shop level Approximate reload speed: 2 seconds Magazine/clip/chamber capacity: 25 rounds Default ammo capacity: 200 rounds Ammo capacity after first upgrade: 249 rounds Ammo capacity after second upgrade: 299 rounds Ammo capacity after third (max) upgrade: 350 rounds Special upgrade(s) affecting this gun: Attach Silencer These machine pistols are fully automatic with absolutely no muzzle rise, even when firing both at the same time. Generally enemies will die with three to five body shots from this gun. With a full magazine of ammo you can fire each gun continuously for 3 seconds before having to reload. This is one of three guns with the "Attach Silencer" upgrade, which will allows you to shoot enemies, without the worry of giving away your location and alerting them... from the sound of your gunfire anyway. ****************************************************************************** 10. Machine Pistol 5.56mm **************************************************** ****************************************************************************** In-game text description: "Powerful. Compact. The ultimate machine pistol." Punisher's in-game audio description: "This gun's like a miniature assault rifle. It uses a 5.56mm cartridge which can be fired in a semi-automatic or a full-auto mode." When this gun's unlocked: After completing the Grey's Funeral Home level Approximate reload speed: 2 seconds Default magazine/clip/chamber capacity: 30 rounds Magazine capacity after upgrade: 100 rounds Default ammo capacity: 160 rounds Ammo capacity after first upgrade: 193 rounds Ammo capacity after second upgrade: 226 rounds Ammo capacity after third (max) upgrade: 260 rounds Special upgrade(s) affecting this gun: Increase Magazine Size These machine pistols are powerful and fully automatic. If you fire both of these at the same time, then there's muzzle rise. Fire one at a time and there's none. Generally enemies will die with three to four body shots from this gun. With a full magazine of ammo you can fire each gun continuously for 3 seconds before having to reload. This is one of four guns with the "Increase Magazine Size" upgrade, which allows each magazine to hold 70 more rounds. With two of these guns, that's 140 more rounds, which will give you 10 seconds of continuous firing time in each hand. ****************************************************************************** 11. Pump Shotgun ************************************************************* ****************************************************************************** In-game text description: "Rugged and reliable, handy for crowd control." Punisher's in-game audio description: "For when I want to get back to basics. This classic pump action has a pistol grip and a 14 inch barrel." When this gun's unlocked: Game start Approximate reload speed: 2 seconds Magazine/clip/chamber capacity: 08 rounds Default ammo capacity: 32 rounds Ammo capacity after first upgrade: 39 rounds Ammo capacity after second upgrade: 47 rounds Ammo capacity after third (max) upgrade: 56 rounds Special upgrade(s) affecting this gun: None This pump action shotgun is ideal for close range shots. It will kill most enemies with one shot regardless of where you hit them, and sometimes more than one enemy at a time if they're close together. If an enemies wearing Kevlar, say goodbye to one shot kills, unless you aim for the head. At medium range this gun will kill enemies with one to two shots. Now for long distance shots... don't use it for that. This gun is practically useless from far away, but that's not what it was made for. Two of these can be picked up and fired at the same time, but you must drop one when it's time to reload, interrogate someone, climb a ladder, or enter slaughter mode. This gun seems to be equal in terms of power with the auto shotgun, but the auto shotgun is much faster. ****************************************************************************** 12. Revolver ***************************************************************** ****************************************************************************** In-game text description: "Slow to load, but accurate and reliable." Punisher's in-game audio description: "It's old school, but you can't beat the accuracy, power, and reliability of a revolver. Only six shots, so I make them count." When this gun's unlocked: After completing the Lucky's Bar level Approximate reload speed: 1.5 seconds Magazine/clip/chamber capacity: 06 rounds Default ammo capacity: 44 rounds Ammo capacity after first upgrade: 54 rounds Ammo capacity after second upgrade: 65 rounds Ammo capacity after third (max) upgrade: 76 rounds Special upgrade(s) affecting this gun: Attach Scope Despite what the in-game description says, this is one of the fastest guns to reload in the game. Six shots may seem like too little but it's not since you carry two of them and let's not forget the very fast reload speed. Enemies will generally die with two to three body shots from this gun. This is one of three guns with the "Attach Scope" upgrade. The scope only has one magnification ratio, there's no zooming in or out, but even so it will still make head shots a breeze. It's not as powerful as the hand cannon, but it has it beat when it comes to speed. ****************************************************************************** 13. .45 cal Semi-automatic Pistol ******************************************** ****************************************************************************** In-game text description: "Classic design. One-shot stopping power." Punisher's in-game audio description: "The basic design of this pistol hasn't changed in nearly one hundred years. The magazine only carries eight rounds, but that's eight kills." When this gun's unlocked: Game Start Approximate reload speed: 1 second Magazine/clip/chamber capacity: 08 rounds Default ammo capacity: 64 rounds Ammo capacity after first upgrade: 79 rounds Ammo capacity after second upgrade: 95 rounds Ammo capacity after third (max) upgrade: 128 rounds Special upgrade(s) affecting this gun: Attach Silencer These semi-automatic pistols are not that powerful, but they fire fast. Speed is pretty much what these pistols are about, it's the fastest firing non- automatic gun in the game, and the fastest overall gun when it comes to reloading. Don't expect to kill enemies with one shot unless you're aiming for the head. It can sometimes take up to five shots to kill enemies. Even so this gun can end up being one of the most useful in the game, once you get the "Attack Silencer" upgrade. After which, you can shoot enemies from a position of cover, without the worry of giving away your location and alerting them... from the sound of your gunfire anyway. Obviously this gun has the .50 cal semi- automatic pistol beat in terms of speed, but not when it comes to power. ****************************************************************************** 14. .50 cal Semi-automatic Pistol ******************************************** ****************************************************************************** In-game text description: "Israeli-made powerhouse, needs a firm grip." Punisher's in-game audio description: "This gun requires a steady hand. The barrel can be swapped out to fire different ammo but I prefer the .50 caliber." When this gun's unlocked: After completing the the Igor Baltiysky level Approximate reload speed: 1.5 seconds Magazine/clip/chamber capacity: 06 rounds Default ammo capacity: 36 rounds Ammo capacity after first upgrade: 43 rounds Ammo capacity after second upgrade: 51 rounds Ammo capacity after third (max) upgrade: 60 rounds Special upgrade(s) affecting this gun: None These .50 cal semi-automatic pistols are powerful. Generally enemies will die from either one or two shots to the body. They only carry six bullets each but you have two of them, so it'll do nicely. This gun also has one of the fastest reload speeds in the game. Fast reloads, power, and you have two of them, what a combination. This gun is superior in terms of power to the .45 cal semi- automatic pistol, but not when it comes to speed. ****************************************************************************** 15. Sniper Rifle ************************************************************* ****************************************************************************** In-game text description: "Can kill a drug dealer at 1400 yards." Punisher's in-game audio description: "For long distance brain surgery, this bolt action .50 caliber does the trick. It's balanced, powerful, and accurate." When this gun's unlocked: After completing the Grand Nixon Island level Approximate reload speed: 2 seconds Magazine/clip/chamber capacity: 05 rounds Default ammo capacity: 15 rounds Ammo capacity after first upgrade: 18 rounds Ammo capacity after second upgrade: 21 rounds Ammo capacity after third (max) upgrade: 25 rounds Special upgrade(s) affecting this gun: None Great for what it's made for, sniping. Naturally this gun comes already equipped with a scope, after all what sniper rifle doesn't? It only has one magnification ratio, there's no zooming in or out, but even so it will still make head shots a breeze. This gun is almost always a one shot kill. Unfortunately there are very few sniping opportunities in the game. This gun is useless when not sniping because you have to reload between each and every shot, which takes way too much time. ****************************************************************************** 16. .40 cal Submachine Gun (SMG) ********************************************* ****************************************************************************** In-game text description: "A .40 caliber marvel or German engineering." Punisher's in-game audio description: "Designed for American law enforcement, this .40 caliber model is the weapon of choice for counter terrorism units around the world." When this gun's unlocked: After completing the Gnucci Estate level Approximate reload speed: 2 seconds Magazine/clip/chamber capacity: 30 rounds Magazine capacity after upgrade: 60 rounds Default ammo capacity: 120 rounds Ammo capacity after first upgrade: 149 rounds Ammo capacity after second upgrade: 189 rounds Ammo capacity after third (max) upgrade: 209 rounds Special upgrade(s) affecting this gun: Increase Magazine Size This fully automatic submachine gun is not the most powerful fully-auto gun in the game, but it has no muzzle rise. So what this gun lacks in power, it makes up for in accuracy. Generally enemies will die with three to five body shots from this gun. With a full magazine of ammo you can fire continuously for 3 seconds before having to reload. This is one of four guns with the "Increase Magazine Size" upgrade, which allows each magazine to hold 30 more rounds. This will give you 6 seconds of continuous firing time. Two of these can be picked up and fired at the same time, but you must drop one when it's time to reload, interrogate someone, climb a ladder, or enter slaughter mode, and believe it or not there isn't any muzzle rise when firing two of these at that same time. ****************************************************************************** 17. 5.7mm Submachine Gun (SMG) *********************************************** ****************************************************************************** In-game text description: "Sleek, top-loading, ergonomic design." Punisher's in-game audio description: "It looks like a toy, but this gun can punch a hole through 48 layers of Kevlar from 200 yards out. There's almost no muzzle rise, so staying on target is easy." When this gun's unlocked: After completing the Fisk Industries level Approximate reload speed: 2 seconds Magazine/clip/chamber capacity: 50 rounds Default ammo capacity: 200 rounds Ammo capacity after first upgrade: 249 rounds Ammo capacity after second upgrade: 299 rounds Ammo capacity after third (max) upgrade: 350 rounds Special upgrade(s) affecting this gun: Attach Silencer and Attach Scope This fully automatic submachine gun is not the most powerful fully-auto gun in the game, but it has no muzzle rise. So what this gun lacks in power, it makes up for in accuracy. Generally enemies will die with three to five body shots from this gun. With a full magazine of ammo you can fire continuously for 5 seconds before having to reload. This is one of two guns lucky enough to have two upgrades. The silencer upgrade will allow you to take out enemies, without the worry of giving away your location and alerting them... from the sound of your gunfire anyway. The scope only has one magnification ratio, there's no zooming in or out, but even so it will still make head shots a breeze. Two of these can be picked up and fired at the same time, but you must drop one when it's time to reload, interrogate someone, climb a ladder, or enter slaughter mode, and believe it or not there isn't any muzzle rise when firing two of these at that same time. ****************************************************************************** 18.
