I have endings, puzzle solutions for each riddle difficulty, weapons, items, and memos to fill in, and much more to work out. So I have my work cut out for me. Street names, room names, and room numbers will be used often in this FAQ. Maps are essential. If you have found anything not listed in this FAQ, such as items that are scattered throughout town, please e-mail me. It would be appreciated and you will be credited for your information. This FAQ contains some bits of information not found in any other FAQ or even the official strategy guide. They are as follows... - If at some point you have already obtained the APARTMENT GATE KEY found on the corpse at the north end of Martin St. before finding the map in Neely's Bar, the "?" at the end of Martin St. will not be marked on your map (not present in any other FAQ or the official strategy guide). - On the south-west corner of Munson St. and Katz St. is a staircase. Search the upper part of the staircase for a HEALTH DRINK and HANDGUN BULLETS (unlisted in the official strategy guide). On a final note, anywhere in the FAQ where "right" and "left" are expressed, this refers to James' perspective and not the player's. • Prologue Three years ago, James Sunderland's wife became seriously ill and passed away. James tried to pull himself together and resume his life after the loss but struggled to get back on his feet. The emotional pain and emptiness left James in a constant state of mourning. Then one day, a cryptic letter arrives signed by Mary, the same name as his late wife. In the letter, Mary writes "Silent Hill, the sanctuary of memories... I will be waiting for you there." James is confused and disturbed by the letter. He questions if Mary is somehow really alive or if someone is playing a hoax on him. "I still don't believe it. The dead can't send letters, yet I came here to see my Mary..." "Our special place - What does that mean? This place is too full of memories..." Shrouded in mystery and driven by the desire to uncover the truth, James sets off into the world of Silent Hill... As the fog grows thicker, James realizes that the town is nearby. "The only way to get to the center of town is through this tunnel, but there must have been an accident or something because the entrance is blocked." "But wait..." "The map shows a single road through the forest that leads to the town. Looks like the only way to get to the town is to take this road on foot." "I can't see anyone in this thick fog, or should I say I don't feel anyone." "I see a run-down building nearby." "There's no one inside. I am alone in the mirror's reflection." "I look at the man in the mirror and mutter a question..." "Mary... Could you really be in this town?" Characters ______________________ • James Sunderland Age: Unknown Occupation: Protagonist Three years ago, his beloved wife, Mary, became seriously ill and passed away. James was wasting away in empty, lifeless days of mourning, when a strange letter arrived. The name of the sender was Mary Shepherd- Sunderland, his late wife. The cryptic letter beckoned him to meet her in Silent Hill, a town that once held a great meaning for the couple. Although he firmly believes his wife is not alive, James questions the origins of the letter and is determined to find the truth by returning to Silent Hill. • Angela Orosco Age: Unknown Occupation: Unknown James first meets her in a cemetery and from the beginning there is something shadowy about her. Ever since her childhood, she was convinced that she would never be happy. She ran away from home shortly after graduating from high school, but her father found her and dragged her back home. She ran away from home again, this time to Silent Hill, but now she is lost. • Maria Age: Unknown Occupation: Unknown On the surface, Maria looks exactly like James' late wife, however Maria's hairstyle and taste in clothing are completely different. Her personality, cheerful and energetic, is also the exact opposite of Mary's. When James first meets Maria, he is shocked by the resemblances as well as the intimacy of their conversation, as if they had known each other for years. After learning of his purpose in Silent Hill, Maria is interested in his search for Mary and decides to accompany him. • Laura Age: 8 Occupation: Unknown A stubborn, bratty, little girl who does whatever she wants and suddenly goes on her way. She crosses James' path throughout his search and seems to know more about Mary than what she reveals. Coincidentally, she was a patient in the same hospital as Mary and they became very close. Mary loved her as her own daughter. Perhaps she holds the truth that James is seeking. • Eddie Dombrowski Age: Unknown Occupation: Unknown Eddie is a simple-minded, clumsy and useless man who is deeply terrified of getting hurt. He has a gentle, quiet personality, but also possesses another side that he cannot control when angered. What is his purpose in Silent Hill? Exit the Men's locker room. Proceed to the Woman's locker room. Take the BENT NEEDLE from the teddy bear on the table to your left and the SHOTGUN from the open locker, also to your left. Exit the Woman's locker room. Head to the west wing using the door just across from door to the stairway. Take the HANDGUN BULLETS on the stool directly in front of you. Continue west and enter the first door to your right, Examination room 3. Take the FIRST-AID KIT on the mattress. Search the typewriter on the desk to find an imprint on carbon paper with a 4-digit number on it. This 4-digit number is random, so it will not be listed here. The imprint will be added to your memos for later retrieval. Exit Examination room 3 and proceed to M 2. Walk over to the nightstand and take the "LAPIS EYE" KEY from the open drawer and the SHOTGUN SHELLS on top. Exit M 2 and make your way to M 3. After disposing of the creature, take the HANDGUN BULLETS and HEALTH DRINK on the floor near the television. Exit M 3, head further down the hallway, and enter M 6. Beware the creature lurking here. Take the HANDGUN BULLETS and HEALTH DRINK on the nightstands and exit the room. Head back to the 1F and enter the Examination room using the EXAMINATION ROOM KEY you found earlier. There is nothing in this room aside from some lab results in the cabinet to your left in which James is not interested in. Proceed to the next room, the Doctor's lounge. Take the SHOTGUN SHELLS from the sink and read the white board on the east wall, left of the door. If you are playing in easy or normal riddle difficulty, a pin number to the 3rd floor patient wing hall will be written on the board. If you are playing in hard riddle difficulty, a puzzle will be presented to you. Unlock the door to your right and make your way to the 3F. Dispose of the creatures lurking here. Head to the east end of the hallway and take the FIRST-AID KIT on the ground near the ladder. Head back to the west end and unlock the door using the following pin number... EASY: 7335 NORM: 7335 HARD: 1328 Proceed through the door and enter S 3. Maria is tired and decides to rest. Take the ROOF KEY on the nightstand. Exit S 3 and make your way to S 11 further down the hallway, disposing of any creatures in your path. Take the HEALTH DRINK on the nightstand. You may save at this point using the SAVE POINT on your left. Exit S 11 and proceed to S 14, disposing of any creatures that may be in your way. On the wall to the right is some text on the wall written in blood. Read it to add it to your memos. On the bed you will find a box with four locks. Two are numeric and two require keys. From right to left, the first lock requires the 4-digit number imprinted on the carbon paper you found earlier, the second lock requires the "LAPIS EYE" KEY, and the third lock requires the "PURPLE BULL" KEY. You have yet to find the combination for the fourth lock, so make your way to the roof using the stairway in the east wing. Once you are on the roof, head south-east towards the chain-link fence to find a diary. Whether you read it or not, head back towards the door you came through to find that it will not open. "Something is holding it closed from the other side." Head right and between the two structures to discover what it was behind the door. After your brief confrontation with Pyramid Head, you will find yourself back on the 3F in the Special treatment room. Heal immediately, as the blow you took has put you on danger. Here you will find 4 doors on the north wall and 1 on the south wall. Enter the second door from the left on the north wall to find yourself in a padded cell. Investigate the blood on the wall to find a 4-digit number. You now have the combination to the fourth lock on the box. This number is random, so it will not be listed here. Exit the cell, unlock the door on the south wall, exit the Special treatment room, and make your way to S 11. Unlock the fourth lock to obtain a PIECE OF HAIR. Exit S 11 and proceed to the Shower room. Investigate the drain to find something stuck in the drainage pipe. Combine the BENT NEEDLE and PIECE OF HAIR to obtain the ELEVATOR KEY. Exit the Shower room and make your way to the elevator. After using the ELEVATOR KEY, enter the elevator and proceed to the 1F. Head around the corner and enter C 3. Take the SHOTGUN SHELLS on the nightstand to James' right and the HANDGUN BULLETS on the floor near the nightstand on the other side of the room. Exit C 3 and make your way to C 2. Walk towards the teddy bears to encounter Laura once again. After your conversation and you two are on your way, Laura claims to have forgotten a letter from Mary and lures James to a room to retrieve it for her. James, anxious about the letter, is suckered by Laura as she slams and locks the door behind him where you are forced to do battle against 3 creatures hanging from the ceiling. Use your shotgun to swiftly dispose of them as you keep your distance. They will lunge at you and choke you by the neck if close enough. After the battle, you find yourself in the "other world". • BROOKHAVEN HOSPITAL (OTHER WORLD) Items: ...
