VERSION HISTORY ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ============================================================================== Updated to Version 1.0- Fixed some mistakes and added the requirements of access for all of the puzzles. I've also begun making screen shots to supplement the written directions for some of the harder puzzles. Check out the new screen shot section for more information. (01/30/06) Updated to Version 0.9- First version of the FAQ. I've included the precise locations of all 30 puzzle boxes, as well as step-by-step solutions to all 30 puzzle boxes. Exact requirements to access each puzzle box still need to added. I just wanted to get the solutions up as quickly as I could. (01/15/06) ============================================================================== ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2. INTRODUCTION ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ============================================================================== Once you reach Ship Graveyard for the first time, you'll find a girl who's quite keen on these things called puzzle boxes. After talking to her, you will be able to find them scattered about the world map. So what exactly are puzzle boxes? Like their name suggests, they are puzzles, and each one that you solve will net you a prize. The difficulty of the puzzles ranges from laughably easy to incredibly hard, but solving the puzzles is only half the battle. Locating the puzzles can be a quest in and of itself. There are 30 puzzles boxes in all, and this FAQ will show you how to find and solve each and every one of them! ============================================================================== ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3. PUZZLE BOX BASICS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ============================================================================== This section will familiarize you with how puzzle boxes work and otherwise make you savvy on all things puzzle boxy. --------------------- Locating Puzzle Boxes --------------------- Like I mentioned before, in order to even begin looking for puzzle boxes you must first speak with the puzzle box girl who lives in Ship Graveyard. Doing this will add the puzzle box list to the world map. However, the locations of the puzzle boxes will not be revealed on the world map until you find them yourself. You find them the same way you find dungeons and towns; by using your radar (pressing the Square button on the world map). If you use your radar near a hidden puzzle box, it will appear and you may venture inside to tackle its puzzle. Once you uncover a puzzle box, it will appear as a gray dot on the world map, and you may use the puzzle box list on your big world map to find it again at a later time. When you solve a puzzle, a star will appear next to that puzzle box on the list. Very late in the game you can find an item called the Sonar Kit. Just having it in your inventory will reveal the locations of hidden puzzle boxes and items that lie nearby. This should help you considerably. --------- The Lobby --------- When you enter a puzzle box from the world map, the first area that you come across is the Lobby. The first two things you'll notice in the Lobby are the stone slab and entry crystal. If you examine the stone slab, you'll find out which puzzle you're currently at, the difficulty level of the puzzle, and a brief description of how the puzzle works. This description is the same for every puzzle box. The entry crystal will transport you to the actual puzzle when you touch it. Once you solve the puzzle, an exit crystal appears and takes you back to the Lobby when you touch it. Once you return to the Lobby, a chest containing your prize appears at the northern end of the Lobby. Claim your hard-earned reward and head out! ------------------ Rules and Concepts ------------------ So how do puzzles boxes work? Well, while each puzzle is unique, they all revolve around the same basic rules and concepts. Each puzzle presents an arrangement of colored blocks (red, green, yellow, and blue), and your objective for every puzzle is to make all of the colored blocks disappear. This is accomplished by pushing and pulling blocks of the same color together. When two or more blocks of the same color touch, they will disappear. You can only move blocks by either pushing them or pulling them. Blocks come in many different shapes and sizes, including tall towers and L-shaped obstructions. However, the only blocks that you can move are small, square blocks with bases of 1x1 units. If there are two movable blocks stacked on top of each other, you won't be able to move the bottom block. There are some other things that you must keep in mind as well. You'll notice that the setting of every puzzle is up in the sky, miles above a medieval- looking town. It's really quite scenic! But the edges of the puzzle don't have guard-rails or anything like that, so it's possible to push blocks off and even jump off the edge (if you jump off the edge, you will end up back in the Lobby). What you need to be aware of is that you CANNOT push blocks off the edge to solve the puzzle. In many puzzles, the location of the exit crystal may also be an issue. I mentioned earlier that once you solve a puzzle, an exit crystal appears, and you must touch it to return to the Lobby and claim your prize. Where exactly the crystal appears is marked by a brown floor panel. So you not only have to clear all the colored blocks, but you must also be able to access the exit crystal when you are finished. In most puzzles this won't be a problem at all, but in some puzzles with multiple levels, you may find the exit crystal out of reach if you solve the puzzle incorrectly. There are a few special methods that you'll have to employ in order to solve many of the puzzles. I mention them often when describing specific puzzles, so it would be in your best interests to be familiar with them. The main special method is chain clearing, which means setting up several different groups of blocks to be cleared in one move. For example, let's say you have a green block with a red block on top of it and another red block beside it. If you clear that green block, the red on top will fall and land next to the red beside it, and those two reds will be cleared as well. This would be a 1 chain clear. Of course, most of the chain clears that you'll be doing are more elaborate than the example that I've given, but you should now understand the concept well enough. The biggest chain clears that you'll do, however, are what I like to call one-combo-clears. A one-combo-clear is when you position all the blocks at the start of the puzzle in such a way that the entire puzzle will be solved in a single chain clear. Puzzles in which you must utilize these techniques are usually characterized by having large amounts of "randomly" assorted blocks bunched together, with only a few blocks that you can actually move. One last thing that I should mention is resetting and quitting puzzles. Tools are disabled when you're solving puzzles, so the Square button serves a different function instead. When you hit Square, three options will appear: 1) Reset the puzzle to its starting conditions 2) Quit and puzzle and return to the Lobby or 3) Continue with the puzzle. ============================================================================== ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 4. PUZZLE BOX LOCATIONS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ============================================================================== Here you can see the precise locations of all 30 puzzle boxes. The coordinates will allow you to pin-point the puzzle box's exact location, and the description gives you a general idea of where to look for it. "Required for Access" essentially tells you what vehicle or item you need in order to access the puzzle. Here are the vehicles/items in chronological order: Nothing ------- No special vehicles are required to access from Ship Graveyard. Sweet Candy (Inner Sea) ----------------------- Can tavel the Inner Sea. Asgard ------ What Asgard can reach from Giant's Cradle. Asgard (Upgraded) ----------------- What Asgard can reach from Giant's Cradle, but now giant boulders can be destroyed. Sweet Candy (Outer Sea) ----------------------- Can travel the Outer Sea (whirlpool is gone). Ocarina ------- Can summon Asgard (Upgraded) anywhere with smooth terrain. Protowing --------- Can fly, but not over mountains (can only land on smooth terrain). Gullwing -------- Can fly anywhere (can only land on smooth terrain). Whistle ------- Can summon the Sweet Candy to any beach. Special Note: When you have the Proto/Gullwing you will also have the Ocarina, so when the Proto/Gullwing is listed, it is implied that you also have the Ocarina (in case it needs to be used as well). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 5. SOLVING THE PUZZLES ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ============================================================================== This is probably what you're looking for; the solutions. In this section I've provided step-by-step instructions for solving every puzzle box. Keep in mind that most puzzle boxes can be solved in many different ways, and I will provide only one solution path for each puzzle. To follow these instructions properly, you must use your compass, which is the faint little diamond near the top of the screen. Remember that red points to north and white points to south. Also, in an attempt to be clear and concise about which blocks I am referring to, I will most often refer to blocks based on their location relative to blocks of the same color. The only exception is when I provide an ASCII diagram of the puzzle and label the blocks as R1, B2, G3, ect. I will often remind you of these things in my "Notes". "Special Notes" will inform you of any important aspects of the puzzle that you should know before getting started. Later on, I may provide links to pictures to help make some things clearer. Now let's get cracking! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Puzzle Box One PB01 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Difficulty: 1/5 Reward: 3 Potion Berries Notes: This is really easy, but not the easiest You can't just go on a clearing frenzy or else you'll probably leave blocks behind in the end. PUZZLE BOX 08 IS COMPLETE! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Puzzle Box Nine PB09 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Difficulty: 2/5 Reward: 3 Force Carrots Notes: This is pretty simple. You just need to move a lot of stuff around to clear your first set of colors (order doesn't matter). After that you shouldn't have any trouble. Special Notes: 1) In my insructions, I'll refer to blocks based on thier location relative to other blocks of the same color. SOLUTION PATH: - Push eastern Blue south - Pull southern Red west - Push northern Red east - Push southern Red west twice - Pull eastern Green south three times - Push same Green south - Pull same Green west - Push same Green west - Pull northern Green south - Push northern Green south twice 3 of 3 GREENS ARE CLEARED! - Pull western Red north - Pull eastern Red west twice - Push same Red west twice 3 of 3 REDS ARE CLEARED! - Pull southern Yellow south - Pull same Yellow east - Pull northern Yellow east twice - Pull same Yellow south three times 3 of 3 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! - Pull western Blue north three times - Pull same Blue east - Pull southern Blue north four times 3 of 3 BLUES ARE CLEARED! PUZZLE BOX 09 IS COMPLETE! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Puzzle Box Ten PB10 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Difficulty: 2/5 Reward: Part Scope (allows Alter Parts to be dropped by enemies) Notes: Unlike most two-star puzzles, this one actually requires some strategic positioning and careful moving. First of all, if you don't jump down from the upper level in the right place, you can't solve the puzzle. You also must be careful with your clears and make sure that no blocks accidentally get left behind. Pretty formidable for a two-star, I must say... Special Notes: None SOLUTION PATH: - Jump down into the small space in the northwest corner of the map - Push Yellow (the one between the two reds) east three times 2 of 5 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! - Pull Blue (the one between the two Greens) west twice - Pull same Blue north - Pull Green south - Push Green south - Pull Green west twice 3 of 3 GREENS ARE CLEARED! - Push western Blue south - Push western Blue west 2 of 5 BLUES ARE CLEARED! - Push Blue west twice - Push Blue north twice 5 of 5 BLUES ARE CLEARED! - Push Yellow north - Push Yellow east three times - Pull Red north - Push Red north - Pull Red east twice 3 of 3 REDS ARE CLEARED! - Push Yellow west - Push Yellow south three times 5 of 5 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! You won't clear the entire puzzle with one combo, but you should leave yourself with a very easy finish after you do your chain clear. Special Notes: None SOLUTION PATH: - Push Red north - Push Blue east twice 2 of 4 BLUES ARE CLEARED! 2 of 7 GREENS ARE CLEARED! 4 of 6 REDS ARE CLEARED! 4 of 4 BLUES ARE CLEARED! 3 of 5 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! 4 of 7 GREENS ARE CLEARED! 6 of 6 REDS ARE CLEARED! PUZZLE BOX 11 IS COMPLETE! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Puzzle Box Twelve PB12 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Difficulty: 2/5 Reward: LVL Apple Notes: The only thing you have to keep in mind for this puzzle is to not clear too many (or too few) blocks in a given move, or else you may accidentally leave some blocks behind. Other than that, this is a complete cake walk. Special Notes: None SOLUTION PATH: - Pull Blue north - Push Blue north - Push Blue east - Push Blue north twice 3 of 5 BLUES ARE CLEARED! - Push Green north - Push Green west twice 2 of 4 GREENS ARE CLEARED! - Pull Yellow west twice - Push Yellow south twice 2 of 4 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! - Pull Blue east - Push Blue east five times - Pull Blue south - Push Blue south twice 5 of 5 BLUES ARE CLEARED! - Pull Red south - Push Red south four times - Pull Red west six times 3 of 3 REDS ARE CLEARED! - Pull Yellow east - Push Yellow east four times 4 of 4 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! - Pull Green north three times - Pull Green west - Push Green west five times 4 of 4 GREENS ARE CLEARED! PUZZLE BOX 12 IS COMPLETE! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Puzzle Box Thirteen PB13 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Difficulty: 3/5 Reward: Migrant Seal Notes: This is pretty easy. The only thing you have to keep in mind is that each color has to be taken out in one shot. This just requires some careful repositioning. Special Notes 1) I'll often refer to blocks based on their location, so make sure you're using your compass. SOLUTION PATH: - Pull accessable Green west - Pull Green south - Pull eastern Red west three times - Pull same Red south - Push Green north - Push Green east - Push middle Red east - Push same Red south - Pull northern Red south twice - Pull same Red east - Push same Red south 3 of 3 REDS ARE CLEARED! - Pull northern Yellow south twice - Pull same Yellow east - Push same Yellow east - Pull southwestern Yellow east twice - Push same Yellow north - Push same Yellow east 3 of 3 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! - Pull western Blue east twice - Push same Blue north twice - Push southern Blue west - Pull same Blue north - Push same Blue north twice 3 of 3 BLUES ARE CLEARED! - Pull northern Green south - Pull same Green west twice - Pull southern Green north - Push same Green west twice - Pull same Green north twice 3 of 3 GREENS ARE CLEARED! Just clear the yellows and reds first and the rest is even easier. Special Notes: 1) You begin on top of a tall stack of blocks. The side you jump down onto depends on whether you want to clear reds or yellows first. SOLUTION PATH: - Jump off the stack of blocks to the northwest - Push western Blue north - Pull northwestern Red south - Push same Red south - Pull other Red west - Push same Red south 3 of 3 REDS ARE CLEARED! - Pull western Blue north twice - Push eastern Blue north - Pull southeastern Yellow north - Push same Yellow north - Pull other Yellow east - Push same Yellow north 3 of 3 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! - Pull eastern Green south - Pull western Green north - Push eastern Blue south - Pull western Blue east twice 2 of 4 BLUES ARE CLEARED! 3 of 3 GREENS ARE CLEARED! - Push Blue east 4 of 4 BLUES ARE CLEARED! PUZZLE BOX 14 IS COMPLETE! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Puzzle Box Fifteen PB15 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Difficulty: 3/5 Reward: 10 Gimel Coins Notes: There are three units of each color, so each color must be cleared in one shot. Study the puzzle for a second and you'll see that the yellows must go first. Now it's just a matter of moving the yellow block to the north end of the map. Special Notes: None SOLUTION PATH: - Pull Blue north - Pull Blue east twice - Push Blue east - Push Blue south - Pull Yellow east - Push Yellow east - Pull Yellow north - Pull Yellow east twice - Push Yellow east - Pull Yellow north four times - Push Green west four times - Push Yellow north - Pull Yellow west - Push Yellow west three times 3 of 3 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! - Push northern Red east - Pull same Red south four times - Push same Red west twice 3 of 3 REDS ARE CLEARED! - Pull Green south five times - Pull Green east three times 3 of 3 GREENS ARE CLEARED! - Pull Blue west four times - Pull Blue north six times - Push Blue east twice 3 of 3 BLUES ARE CLEARED! PUZZLE BOX 15 IS COMPLETE! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Puzzle Box Sixteen PB16 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Difficulty: 3/5 Reward: Witch Book (Episode 6) Notes: This isn't a one-combo-clear puzzle, like it may appear to be, but you will have to utilize chain clearing in order to solve this one. You'll have to do one small clear before you can take out the L-shaped blue for your large chain clear, or else you'll leave a single blue behind and won't be able to solve the puzzle. Special Notes: None SOLUTION PATH: - Push Yellow east twice - Pull Yellow south four times - Pull Yellow north three times - Pull Yellow west four times 2 of 7 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! 2 of 7 REDS ARE CLEARED! - Pull Blue west - Push Blue west - Pull Blue south three times - Pull Blue east - Push Blue east 3 of 7 BLUES ARE CLEARED! 4 of 7 YELLOWS, 5 of 7 BLUES, AND 4 of 7 REDS ARE CLEARED! 2 of 4 GREENS ARE CLEARED! 7 of 7 BLUES ARE CLEARED! PUZZLE BOX 16 IS COMPLETE! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Puzzle Box Seventeen PB17 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Difficulty: 3/5 Reward: 3 Mega Berries Notes: Examine the layout of all the blocks surrounding the platform and you'll see that they are nearly set up for a one-combo-clear. You just have to figure out where to place the missing pieces (the green, blue, and yellow blocks). Once everything's in place, push off the red block and watch them all disappear. Special Notes: None SOLUTION PATH: - Push Blue west - Push Red east - Pull Blue east - Push Blue south twice - Pull Yellow west - Pull Green west - Push Green south - Pull Green east - Push Green east - Push Green south - Push Yellow east three times - Push Yellow south - Pull Red west - Push Red north BLAH BLAH BLAH ARE ALL CLEARED! If you don't, you'll find yourself stuck. And since your move options are pretty limited, it shouldn't be hard to figure out. Special Notes: 1) I may refer to certain blocks by location, so use your compass. SOLUTION PATH: - Pull Red east - Pull Red south - Push Blue east twice - Pull Blue north twice - Push Blue north - Push Red south twice - Push Red east - Pull Red north 2 of 6 REDS ARE CLEARED! 2 of 6 GREENS ARE CLEARED! - Pull Green south - Push Green south - Pull Green west three times - Push Green west - Pull Green north 4 of 6 GREENS ARE CLEARED! 3 of 5 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! - Pull eastern Red west - Pull eastern Red north - Push eastern Red north 4 of 6 REDS ARE CLEARED! - Pull middle Blue south - Pull Green (in northeast corner) west four times - Push Green west 6 of 6 GREENS ARE CLEARED! - Pull western Blue east - Push western Blue south twice - Pull northern Red south - Push northern Red south 6 of 6 REDS ARE CLEARED! - Pull western Blue east five times - Pull same Blue north twice 3 of 3 BLUES ARE CLEARED! - Pull Yellow west - Push Yellow west twice 5 of 5 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! PUZZLE BOX 18 IS COMPLETE! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Puzzle Box Nineteen PB19 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Difficulty: 4/5 Reward: Clear Chime 3 (skill) Notes: This puzzle isn't very difficult. You'll want to take out the reds and blues first, and then clear everything else in one shot. Remember that since there are three units each for red and blue, all three must be cleared together. Special Notes: 1) I'll refer to blocks by their location, so use the compass. SOLUTION PATH: - Pull western Green east - Pull western Blue north - Pull eastern Green north - Push eastern Green north - Push eastern Green east - Pull western Red east - Pull western Red north - Push western Blue north - Push western Green south - Push western Red west twice - Pull eastern Blue west twice - Push eastern Blue north - Push eastern Blue west 3 of 3 BLUES ARE CLEARED! - Pull eastern Green west - Pull eastern Green south - Pull eastern Red south - Push eastern Red south - Push eastern Green east - Pull western Red east twice - Push western Red east - Push western Red north 3 of 3 REDS ARE CLEARED! - Pull western Green east - Pull western Green north - Push eastern Green north - Pull eastern Green west twice 3 of 6 GREENS ARE CLEARED! 3 of 3 YELLOWS AND 6 of 6 GREENS ARE CLEARED! PUZZLE BOX 19 IS COMPLETE! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Puzzle Box Twenty PB20 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Difficulty: 4/5 Reward: Assist Blitz (skill) Notes: This one can be pretty tough if you don't know what your first course of action should be; taking out the three blues on ground level. When I first did this puzzle, I tried setting it up for a one-combo-clear, which can't be done. Getting those three blues out of the way takes several precise steps, but once they're gone you can set up everything else to be cleared with one combo. Special Notes: 1) In my instructions, I refer to blocks based on their location, so use your compass. SOLUTION PATH: - Push middle Blue east - Pull western Blue north three times - Push western Blue north - Pull western Blue east three times - Push middle Blue west twice - Push northern Blue east - Pull northern Blue south - Push middle Blue east twice - Push northern Blue south twice 3 of 7 BLUES ARE CLEARED! - Pull Red north three times - Push Red north - Push Red west - Push Green east - Pull Green north three times - Push Green north - Pull Green east - Pull Yellow west - Pull Yellow north twice 3 of 3 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! 3 of 3 GREENS, 3 of 3 REDS, AND 7 of 7 BLUES ARE CLEARED! PUZZLE BOX 20 IS COMPLETE! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Puzzle Box Twenty-One PB21 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Difficulty: 4/5 Reward: 5 Lucky Cards Notes: Well this is... um... interesting. Most of the map is a large, jumbled mess of blocks. At the very northern end of the map is a nice set of movable blocks being guarded by a yellow tower. So your first objective should be obvious; clearing out that tower. Getting there, however, will take quite a few careful steps. Special Notes: 1) You begin the puzzle on a small platform. You must carefully decide where to jump down. SOLUTION PATH: - Jump down into the space between the single Green and large, L-shaped Green - Push Green west 2 of 4 GREENS ARE CLEARED! - Push the accessable Yellow east 2 of 6 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! - Pull the Blue near you north three times - Push same Blue north 2 of 6 BLUES ARE CLEARED! - Push accessable Red east - Pull same Red north twice - Push same Red north - Pull same Red west three times - Pull same Red south - Push same Red south - Push same Red west - Pull same Red south four times 2 of 6 REDS ARE CLEARED! - Pull Yellow west three times - Push Blue north 4 of 6 BLUES ARE CLEARED! - Pull Yellow north - Push Yellow north four times - Pull Yellow east - Pull Yellow north - Push Yellow north 4 of 6 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! The tower is now gone. - Pull accessable northern Blue south twice - Push same Blue east - Pull northern Green south four times - Push Green south 4 of 4 GREENS ARE CLEARED! - Pull southern Blue west - Push same Blue north three times 6 of 6 BLUES ARE CLEARED! - Push southeastern Red north twice - Push same Red west twice - Push same Red north five times 4 of 6 REDS ARE CLEARED! The rest of this is simple - Pull Yellow west - Push Yellow south five times - Push Yellow west four times 6 of 6 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! - Pull Red west - Pull Red south nine times - Pull Red west - Push Red west twice 6 of 6 REDS ARE CLEARED! PUZZLE BOX 21 IS COMPLETE! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Puzzle Box Twenty-Two PB22 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Difficulty: 4/5 Reward: Gauge Repair (makes Enc Gauge refill twice as fast) Notes: This is pretty straightforward. Just take out the greens and blues first, and then you'll have plenty of room to tackle the yellows and reds. The only thing you need to be cautious about is pushing blocks off of the two platforms. If you're careless, you might accidentally drop a block into an un-movable position. Special Notes: 1) There are two large platforms in the northest and southwest corners of the puzzle, each with three movable blocks and an access ramp. SOLUTION PATH: Begin on the northeastern platform... - Push Red west twice - Pull Green west - Push Green west - Pull Blue west - Pull Blue south - Push Blue west - Push Blue south Now head over to the southwestern platform... - Push Yellow east twice - Pull Blue north - Push Blue east - Push Blue west - Push Blue north twice - Jump down to ground level (land east of the Blue you just pushed) - Pull that Blue east three times 3 of 3 BLUES ARE CLEARED! Return to the southwestern platform... - Pull Green north - Pull Green east twice - Push Green east - Push Green north - Jump down to ground level (north of the Green you just pushed) - Pull that Green north Go to the northeastern platform... - Pull Green east twice - Pull Green south - Push Green west twice - Push Green south 3 of 3 GREENS ARE CLEARED! - Pull northwestern Yellow south - Push same Yellow south - Pull same Yellow east three times - Push same Yellow east - Pull same Yellow south three times 3 of 3 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! - Pull southeastern Red north - Push same Red north - Pull same Red west three times - Push same Red west - Pull same Red north three times 3 of 3 REDS ARE CLEARED! PUZZLE BOX 22 IS COMPLETE! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Puzzle Box Twenty-Three PB23 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Difficulty: 4/5 Reward: 4 Alter Parts Notes: I don't know why, but this one gave me a LOT of trouble my first time, but after going back and trying the puzzle again weeks later, I was able to solve it in a matter of seconds. Your first goal should be to take out the reds (it must be done all in one shot), and this will require only a little bit of block repositioning. Afterwards, the puzzle sould be a cake walk, as long as you make sure not to leave loose blocks behind when doing big clears. Special Notes: 1) I will refer to blocks based on their location in my instructions, so keep an eye on your compass to properly follow the directions. SOLUTION PATH: - Push Green west - Push northwestern Yellow west - Pull Red north - Push Red west - Pull Blue south - Push Blue west - Pull eastern Yellow north - Push eastern Yellow north - Pull Red east - Push Red north twice 3 of 3 REDS ARE CLEARED! 2 of 5 GREENS ARE CLEARED! - Pull eastern Blue west - Push eastern Yellow east - Pull Green east - Pull northern Blue east - Push northern Blue south twice 3 of 3 BLUES ARE CLEARED! 5 of 5 GREENS ARE CLEARED! - Pull northwestern Yellow south - Pull eastern Yellow south twice - Pull eastern Yellow west - Push eastern Yellow west three times 3 of 3 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! PUZZLE BOX 23 IS COMPLETE! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Puzzle Box Twenty-Four PB24 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Difficulty: 4/5 Reward: 30000g Notes: Tons of blocks randomly stacked up on each other with only four that you can move? This puzzle screams one-combo-clear. Moving the blocks around shouldn't be a big problem, so all you have to do is get everything into position and let her rip! Special Notes: None SOLUTION PATH: - Pull Red south - Push Red west - Push Blue east - Pull Yellow east - Pull Blue west - Push Yellow north twice BLAH BLAH BLAH ARE ALL CLEARED! [You can see what the solution looks like in SS24.1 on the screen shots page] PUZZLE BOX 24 IS COMPLETE! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Puzzle Box Twenty-Five PB25 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Difficulty: 5/5 Reward: 3 Ambrosias Notes: This is a very small puzzle, but it can be pretty difficult to figure out. Obviously you'll want to use the lone panel that juts out to the south to get started. There are an odd number of units for each color, so you'll need to clear each color all at once. Your first objective should be to take out the reds, and then from there the puzzle is a snap. Puzzle Layout: ---------------- N |[Y1][B1][RR][G1]| W E |[G2] [R2]| S |[Y2] [B2]| |[R1][B3][G3][Y3]| ---| |-------- --- Special Notes: 1) [RR] is a Red tower with a 1x1 base. It cannot be moved. SOLUTION PATH: - Push B3 south - Pull G3 north - Push G3 north - Pull Y2 east - Push Y2 north - Pull R1 east - Push R1 east - Pull Y2 south - Push Y2 east - Pull G2 south - Push G2 south - Pull Y2 west - Push Y2 south - Pull G3 west - Push G3 west - Pull Y2 north - Push Y2 west - Pull R1 north - Push R1 north 3 of 3 REDS ARE CLEARED! [The above steps are shown in SS25.1 on the screen shots page] Now this is child's play! - Pull B2 west - Push B2 south - Pull B1 south - Push B1 south twice 3 of 3 BLUES ARE CLEARED! - Pull Y2 east - Push Y2 south - Pull G1 south - Push G1 south - Pull Y1 east twice - Pull Y1 south - Push Y1 south twice 3 of 3 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! - Pull G1 west - Push G1 west twice 3 of 3 GREENS ARE CLEARED! PUZZLE BOX 25 IS COMPLETE! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Puzzle Box Twenty-Six PB26 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Difficulty: 5/5 Reward: Memoirs Pen 4 (skill) Notes: This one is hard. You have to be very careful about how you move things around, as there is little space to work with. Your clears also must be strategic. Making certain blocks disappear at the wrong time may leave you with too little floor space to complete the puzzle, or you may find yourself stranded. Whatever you do, just don't end up on the bottom level when you're done, because the the exit crystal appears on the middle level. Special Notes: 1) The map is comprised of three levels. The upper level is just one square in size and is occupied by a red block (you start on top of it). The middle level forms a perimeter around the upper level and is one square wide all around. The middle level contains eight blocks, two of each color. The bottom level contains an assortment of colored blocks and forms a perimeter around the middle level. 2) The red block at the top is the only block that can be moved until more blocks are cleared. 3) In my instructions, I'll refer to blocks by their location, so be sure to use your compass while following the steps to the solution. SOLUTION PATH: - Jump off of the Red at the top - Push Red south - Push Red east twice (it will fall down a level) - Jump down to the next level and push Red north 3 of 5 REDS ARE CLEARED! - Push southeastern Yellow north - Pull southern Blue east - Push southern Blue east - Push southern Blue north 2 of 4 BLUES ARE CLEARED! - Pull southwestern Green east twice - Push southwestern Green east - Pull Red south - Push Red east twice - Pull northwestern Yellow south twice - Push same Yellow east - Pull Blue west - Pull Blue south twice - Push Blue south - Pull northeastern Green west twice - Push same Green north 2 of 4 GREENS ARE CLEARED! - Pull southern Yellow west - Pull same Yellow north - Push same Yellow north twice 3 of 6 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! Now the instructions will be very straightforward, because there is only one of each color left. - Pull Red west twice - Push Blue east twice - Push Red west - Push Red north 5 of 5 REDS ARE CLEARED! - Pull Blue west twice - Pull Yellow south - Pull Yellow west - Push Yellow west twice - Pull Green west - Push Green south 4 of 4 GREENS ARE CLEARED! - Pull Yellow east twice - Push Yellow east - Push Yellow south 6 of 6 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! 4 of 4 BLUES ARE CLEARED! PUZZLE BOX 26 IS COMPLETE! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Puzzle Box Twenty-Seven PB27 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Difficulty: 5/5 Reward: Witch Book (Episode 8) Notes: This puzzle is just a big mess of narrow pathways and spaces, and solving it is going to take a lot of tedious block movement. There are only three units of each color, so you'll have to clear each color all in one shot, and setting up each set of colors to be cleared can be slightly tricky. Special Notes: 1) All of the colored blocks are movable except the Yellow tower in the northeast corner of the puzzle. 2) In my instructions, I'll refer to blocks based on where they are located. This may get a little confusing, but I'll try to be as clear as possible to which block I am referring. SOLUTION PATH: - Jump down to ground level on the east side of the middle Blue - Pull middle Blue east twice - Push middle Blue south twice - Pull middle Green east four times - Push middle Green south - Push middle Yellow north - Push middle Red west three times - Pull middle Yellow south twice - Push middle Yellow south - Push middle Yellow east - Pull northern Green south twice - Pull northern Green west - Push northern Green west three times - Push northern Green south - Push northern Blue west - Pull northern Blue south twice - Pull northern Blue west - Push northern Blue west three times - Pull northern Red south three times - Pull northern Red west - Push northern Red west twice - Pull middle Yellow west - Pull middle Yellow north three times - Pull middle Yellow east - Push middle Yellow east - Pull southern Yellow north twice - Pull southern Yellow east - Push southern Yellow east - Pull southern Yellow north - Push southern Yellow north three times then push it west into the corner - Pull other Yellow west - Pull other Yellow east twice 3 of 3 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! Now on to reds... - Pull southern Blue north three times then east once - Push same one east twice - Pull the accessable Red near the northwest end of the puzzle east twice - Push same Red east - Push same Red north three times - Pull the Blue in the northwest east three times - Push same Blue east - Push same Blue north twice - Pull same Blue east - Pull the Red near it south three times - Pull same Red west - Pull the Red that lies directly to the west east twice - Pull southern Red east - Push southern Red north four times 3 of 3 REDS ARE CLEARED! Half-way done... - Pull the middle Blue west twice - Push middle Blue west - Push middle Blue south twice - Pull same Blue west then push it west - Pull the northwestern Green north - Pull same Green east - Pull the southeastern Green north - Push same Green west three times - Push same Green east twice - Pull northwestern Green east - Pull same Green south - Pull the eastern Green west twice - Pull southern Green north - Pull southern Green east - Push southern Green north twice 3 of 3 GREENS ARE CLEARED! Almost there... - Push northern Blue west - Pull northern Blue south twice - Pull northern Blue west - Push northern Blue west twice - Pull southeastern Blue north twice - Push same Blue west three times - Push same Blue east twice - Pull northern Blue east - Pull northern Blue south - Pull eastern Blue west twice - Pull southern Blue east twice - Push southern Blue north twice 3 of 3 BLUES ARE CLEARED! PUZZLE BOX 27 IS COMPLETE! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Puzzle Box Twenty-Eight PB28 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Difficulty: 5/5 Reward: Black Pass (allows access to Black Market in Adlehyde) Notes: This is a bit tricky. The key is to set up the movable blocks on top of the assortment of blocks stuck in the middle so that you can clear the entire puzzle in one combo. The catch is that you must be standing on the northern platform when you clear the puzzle, or else you won't be able to reach the exit crystal. But knowing that, you can easily work backwards to figure out how the blocks need to be set up. Puzzle Layout: ------------ N | | W E | | S | | ------------ [RR][YYYYYY] [GG][RR][GG] [BB][RR][YY] [GG][BB][YY] [GG][RRRRRR] [BB][YYYYYY] ------------ | [G2][R2]| |[R1][Y2][B2]| |[B1][G1][Y1]| ------------ Special Notes: 1) There are eight movable blocks bunched together on the southern platform, two of each color. 2) Between the northern and southern platforms is a floor comprised of many colored blocks, some 1x1 and others 2x1. SOLUTION PATH: - Pull R1 north four times - Pull R1 east - Push R1 east - Push R1 north three times - Pull R1 west - Pull G2 north four times - Push G2 north - Pull R2 west - Push R2 west - Pull B2 north five times - Pull B2 west - Pull R2 north three times - Pull R2 east - Push Y2 west - Pull Y2 north three times - Pull Y2 east - Push Y2 east - Pull G1 north three times - Push G1 north - Pull B1 north twice - Pull B1 east - Push B1 north - Pull Y1 west - Push Y1 west - Pull Y1 north nine times - Pull Y1 east - Push Y1 east - Push Y1 south 2 of 5 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! 3 of 5 REDS ARE CLEARED! 3 of 5 GREENS AND 3 of 5 BLUES ARE CLEARED! 5 of 5 REDS ARE CLEARED! 5 of 5 GREENS AND 5 of 5 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! 5 of 5 BLUES ARE CLEARED! [You can see what the solution looks like in SS28.1 on the screen shots page] PUZZLE BOX 28 IS COMPLETE! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Puzzle Box Twenty-Nine PB29 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Difficulty: 5/5 Reward: Full Libra 4 (skill) Notes: This puzzle isn't very hard to figure out, but it is probably the most painstaking of all the puzzle boxes. You have to move the blocks around a LOT in order to get everything in the right position. There are three units of each color, and thus you must clear each color all in one shot. Special Notes: 1) In my instructions, I've divided the map up into two sections, northern area and southern area. In the northern area there are four towers, one of each color, with 1x1 bases and they cannot be moved. There are also four movable blocks in the northern area, one of each color. In the southern area there are four movable blocks, one of each color. And so I will refer to the movable blocks as such (i.e. northern Blue, southern Red, ect...) 2) There's a ramp in the southern area which lets you access a large platform on the east side of the puzzle. This is very important to use in solving the puzzle. SOLUTION PATH: - Push northern Yellow north twice - Push northern Yellow west once - Push northern Green west - Pull northern Green north twice - Push northern Green north - Pull northern Red north four times - Push northern Red north three times - Pull northern Green east - Push northern Green north five times - Pull northern Blue east - Pull northern Blue north twice - Push northern Blue north - Pull northern Blue east - Push northern Blue north three times - Push northern Blue south - Push northern Blue west - Pull northern Yellow east - Pull northern Yellow south three times - Push northern Yellow west twice - Pull northern Blue east - Push northern Blue east - Pull northern Blue north - Push northern Blue north Whew, ok. The north end is now properly set up. On to the southern end... - Pull southern Green east - Push southern Green north twice - Walk up the ramp to the eastern platform and jump down so that you land on the east side of the southern Green - Push southern Green west three times - Push southern Yellow east twice - Pull southern Yellow north twice - Pull southern Red east three times - Push southern Yellow north - Push southern Red east - Pull southern Red north - Pull southern Yellow west twice - Push southern Red north twice - Push southern Yellow west - Pull southern Blue south - Push southern Blue south - Pull southern Yellow south twice - Pull southern Blue east three times - Push southern Blue east - Pull southern Blue north - Pull southern Red west twice - Push southern Blue north twice - Push southern Red west - Push southern Yellow south - Push southern Yellow east three times - Pull southern Red south twice - Pull southern Yellow north - Pull southern Blue west - Push southern Yellow north twice - Push southern Blue north twice Now you've finally moved the southern Blue into the northern area. At this point, clearing the blues should be simple. - Walk up the ramp to the eastern platform and jump down so that you land on the east side of the southern Blue - Push southern Blue west twice - Pull southern Blue north twice - Push southern Blue north - Pull southern Blue east - Push southern Blue north four times 3 of 3 BLUES ARE CLEARED! Finally, geez! The rest of the puzzle should be easy to solve. You'll want to use the same method to work the southern Yellow, Green, and Red up to the northern area. But there's still some more simple arranging to do in the northern area first. - Pull northern Green south - Push northern Green east - Pull northern Yellow east twice - Push northern Yellow north three times - Push northern Yellow west once - Push northern Yellow north twice Back to southern area... - Pull southern Yellow west - Push southern Yellow north twice - Walk up the ramp to the eastern platform and jump down so that you land on the east side of the southern Yellow - Now use the same method as you did for the blues to move the southern Yellow between the northern Yellow and the Yellow tower 3 of 3 YELLOWS ARE CLEARED! Now prep the northern area for the greens to be cleared... - Push northern Green north twice - Pull northern Red south - Push northern Red west - Pull the southern Green east - Now use the same method as you did for the blues and yellows to move the southern Green between the northern Green and the Green tower 3 of 3 GREENS ARE CLEARED! Time for the home stretch! - Push northern Red north twice - Push southern Red north twice - Pull southern Red east twice - Push southern Red north twice - Walk up the ramp to the eastern platform and jump down so that you land on the east side of the southern Red - Finally, use the same method again to move the southern red between the northern Red and the Red tower 3 of 3 REDS ARE CLEARED! PUZZLE BOX 29 IS COMPLETE! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Puzzle Box Thirty PB30 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Difficulty: 5/5 Reward: MP Repair (skill) Notes: They definitely saved the "best" for last. This puzzle is frustratingly hard. You have very little space to work with, and since there are three units of each color, you must clear each color all in one shot. Luckily, once you clear one set of colors, the rest of the puzzle is cake. The key is to take out either the blues or the greens first, and doing so requires quite a few, not-so-obvious steps. Puzzle Layout: ------------ N |[B1][YY][R1]| W E |[G1][B2][Y1]| S | | | | |[R2][G3][B3]| |[Y2][RR][G2]| ------------ Special Notes: 1) [YY] and [RR] are yellow and red towers with 1x1 bases. They cannot be moved. SOLUTION PATH: - Pull Y1 south - Pull Y1 west - Push Y1 west - Pull B2 south - Pull G1 east - Push Y1 north - Push B2 west - Pull G3 north - Push G3 west - Pull B3 north - Push B3 north twice - Pull G2 north twice - Pull G1 south twice 3 of 3 GREENS ARE CLEARED!
