In this guide you'll find the ingredients and all properties associated with them as well as a list of potions you can make and with what ingredients. If you find there's something here that you don't like, would like to improve, contribute towards or anything else, send me an email at moondragon1 (at) gmail . com +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | | | 3.0 : The Basics [S03] | | | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Alchemy has had facelift since TES Morrowind and TES Oblivion. Rather than carrying around the apparatuses to craft your potions (ie. Calicanter, Mortar and Pestle, etc.) you now need to find an Alchemy crafting station. These can be found all over Skyrim and the first one you'll come across is going to be in Riverwood's Inn. To create a potion, select the alchemy station and then your ingredients (up to three at a time) and then craft the potion. If you know the effects, the game automatically creates a list of potions you can create with the ingredients you have in your pack. This comes in handy when you have used a potion ingredient before and created a successful potion as it will automatically tell you which ingredients can make what potion, as long as you have discovered the effect before by either eating the ingredient or using it in a potion. When starting out you can always just eat your ingredients to determine what the first effect will be on the ingredient. If you eat an ingredient you also increase your alchemy skill slightly. When you get to higher levels and have purchased the correct perks you will be able to eat an ingredient and find two, three or even all of the effects the ingredient can produce. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | | | 4.0 : Locations of Alchemy Labs [S04] | | | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ The Alchemy labs used to make your own potions can be found all over the place and some are just going to be blanket statements whereas others are random occurances. There are many found all over the place and I will be updating this list as I find them. Some places that I will use a blanket statement for: ---------------------------------------------------- These are places where you will almost always find an Alchemy lab in any variation or city. - Your personal homes > Any time you buy a house and upgrade it fully you'll have an option to get an Alchemy Lab in them. Every single one from Breezehome in Whiterun to your mansion in Solitude. - Jarl's Court Wizards > In every hold with a Court Wizard for the Jarl there'll be a work area that they use. In this area will always be an Alchemy Lab. - Alchemist/Apothecary Stores > In every city you visit you'll usually find a place that sells alchemy ingredients and potions. In each one of these stores you'll find an Alchemy Lab as well. Uttering Hills Cave ------------------- There's an alchemy lab when you go down a couple of stairs after entering the stone part of the cave. (You need to go here on the quest Summerset Shadows for the Thieves Guild) The Ratway (Riften) ------------------- In the same room as you'll find Gian the Fist you'll find an Alchemy lab on the Eastern side of the room. (You go down in the Ratway for the Theives Guild quest line from time to time) Ragged Flagon - Cistern (Riften) -------------------------------- In the room where the rest of the Guild members are and you first see Mercer, you'll find an Alchemy Lab right across from the secret entrance into Riften. Ragged Flagon (Riften) ---------------------- After completing the second special request mission for the Thieves Guild you get an alchemist that sets up shop in the Ragged Flagon. He brings along with him an Alchemy Lab. Underneath Honningmead Brewery (Whiterun) ----------------------------------------- There is a lunatic in the basement of the brewery when you're doing the second special job for the Thieves guild and he'll usually be standing over the Alchemy Lab. He's a bit of a tough thing to kill if you're not prepared but when you do you can use the lab. Calcelmo's Quarters (Markarth) ------------------------------ During the Thieves guild quest "Hard Answers" you have to break into Calcelmo's personal quarters inside which there is an Alchemy lab. Sleeping Giant Inn (Riverwood) ------------------------------ This will be the first one you will probably find. Just head into the Inn in Riverwood and you'll find it inside. If you talk to the bartender at the counter he'll give you a health potion recipe if you ask if you can use it. Forsaken Crypt inside Forsaken Cave ----------------------------------- This 'dungeon' is North-West of Windhelm and South-East of Dawnstar. It's almost right in the middle of it. If you've completed the Thieves Guild quest where you kill Mercer it's just a little North of the Bronze Water Cave you escape through. You have to go here to get the White Phial for Nurelion in Windhelm. The only way to find this Alchemy lab is with his mixture, it's in the same room as the White Phial itself. Black-Briar Manor (Riften) -------------------------- In the basement of the Black-Briar Manor you'll find an Alchemy lab in the room on the North-East side of the basement. Saarthal -------- In the bottom of this College of Mages dig site you'll find an Alchemy Lab near the end. It's just down the hall to the right when Tolfdir joins you again. Sacellum of Boethiah -------------------- The shrine for Boethiah is just East of Windhelm. In the cultist's camp you'll find an Alchemy lab in one of their tents.
