During the game they need to battle all kinds of opponents which keep getting stronger through the game. The strongest without question is the end boss Underboss who isn't very easy to beat, especially when you want to beat the game within 80 minutes. I wrote this guide so you don't have any problems defeating him. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 2- Underboss [A200] =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Watchmen: The End is Nigh is a fun game, but it certainly isn't perfect. The Underboss fight contains a number of places where Underboss can glitch. He just stops moving and your attacks stop doing damage. Luckily this glitch is easy to fix. You just need to grapple him after which he disappears. At this moment he is transported to his correct place, so don't be afraid when you don't see him. I have divided the fight in a couple of phases so it is easy to see at which point of the game you are. It doesn't matter if you use Rorschach or Nite Owl for this fight. Both play similarly and have an equal chance of defeating him. =============================================================================== 2.1- Phase 1 [A201] =============================================================================== The first part of this fight is quite boring, you'll meet Underboss and he'll start running away from you. You'll need to run after him and climb a couple of stairs. After a couple of floors, he'll stop running and start clobbering you with his fists. Luckily it is easy to avoid his attacks because he yells "Incoming" and he pulls back his right arm. At this moment you'll need to roll away. Don't bother counterattacking after rolling away. Your attacks won't do any damage because of his weird backpack. After losing one fifth of his health, he'll run away. To follow him, you need to run over the iron bridges and jump at the end of each of them. After the second one, you'll see a ladder you need to climb. The second part of the fight starts up there. =============================================================================== 2.2- Phase 2 [A202] =============================================================================== Underboss calls out a couple of henchmen who will start attacking you. It is very easy to defeat them, just throw them of the building so they drop dead. I suggest throwing them away as fast as possible before you start attacking the Underboss. This way you won't need to worry about them. This fight is comparable to the first fight, but he doesn't yell "Incoming" anymore and he can kick you. His attacks are still easy to spot so you shouldn't have any problems avoiding them. After receiving a little damage, he'll climb up to another floor. Follow him to start the third phase of the fight. =============================================================================== 2.3- Phase 3 [A203] =============================================================================== Underboss starts using an iron stave to fight you. He deals a lot of damage with the stave which makes this phase the hardest one. Especially because your partner becomes completely useless at this point. So all responsibility rests on your shoulders. The trick is to remain close to Underboss and never stop attacking him until he strikes a fighting pose with the stave. This means he'll attack. You need to press the R1 button to avoid his attack and counter-attack with square. But watch out, his attack from the left will be obvious, but his attack from the right is a lot faster. It is best to save you power-up till this phase of the battle. If you can unleash Rage/Charge at this point, you can defeat him faster and avoid getting hit. If you do get hit, run away as fast as possible or you'll end up in a combo which can cost you a third of your health. You'll need to run away from him if you lose too much health, to recuperate your health. After losing about half his health, Underboss jumps away to start the next phase. =============================================================================== 2.4- Phase 4 [A204] =============================================================================== After dealing enough damage he jumps to a floating platform where he starts using a flamethrower. This seems dangerous, but it is very easy to avoid the flamethrower. You just need to stay on one of the sides where the enemies start appearing. Grab one of these enemies and throw them at Underboss. If you hit the platform with the enemy, Underboss will jump back to the area you are fighting. Now you need to battle both Underboss and the remaining enemies. I suggest leaving the regular enemies to the other character because Underboss will focus on you and he will strike hard. If you are alone, you can keep using the regular strategy of hitting him until he prepares to attack. At this point you need to roll away and start attacking again. If Underboss is aided by a couple of regular enemies, it is best to keep pressing the Block button and the counter-attack button at about the same time. So, on the PS3 you'll want to keep pressing the R1 and Square buttons. This way you'll keep counter-attacking the regular enemies while dealing damage to Underboss without getting hit. If this fails, you need to run away until you have healed enough. It is better to lose time than to die. After dealing enough damage, Underboss will jump back to his platform and start using his flamethrower again. Luckily, the fight remains the same at this point. You'll need to repeat the above strategy another three times till Underboss is finally and completely beaten. Congrats, you finished Watchmen: The End is Nigh.
