Introduction --- [1000] =============================================================================== No More Heroes is the latest release from SUDA51's Grasshopper Manufacture. And, oh man, is it the signature SUDA51 release we have all been waiting for. No More Heroes is packed to the brim with excessive gore, obscenities, and a multitude of pop culture references. Fans of Killer7 and any of SUDA51's other works should definitely give No More Heroes a try. In this guide, you'll find a walkthrough, along with various appendices that detail the many aspects of the game. I hope you find it helpful! =============================================================================== --- 2. FAQ --- [2000] =============================================================================== +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ [Q] What's the quickest way to gain money? [A] Free Fight missions are excellent for money if you can defeat them with a fairly high success rate. As for assassination missions, Gig 7, Gig 17, and Gig 18 are excellent for money. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ [Q] How do you perform a jumping slash attack? [A] The jumping slash attack can be executed once you learn the technique, Memory of Demon, from Lovikov at Gold Town. To use it, just shake the Nunchuk immediately before you press the A Button to slash. You will know that you've done it right when Travis dashes/jumps to the enemy and slashes. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ [Q] How do you perform a darkstep? [A] A darkstep is a technique which can be used after having successfully blocked an enemy attack. It does take a few tries to completely the hang of, but once you do, it becomes easy to pull off. As soon as Travis manages to block an enemy attack, move the control stick to the left or right (this will determine the direction you move in). If you pull it off, the screen will darken and time will slow down, allowing you to slash the target with impunity for a few seconds. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ [Q] Can you explain the connections between Job Center missions, K-Entertainment missions, and Free Fight missions? [A] Your assassin ranking determines what Job Center missions are available to you, first of all. When you're rank 10, only one Job Center mission will be available. As you move up, you'll gain one new job for every rank you acquire. In order to unlock K-Entertainment missions, you must get bronze or silver rankings in the Job Center missions. For certain "three-part" assassin missions, getting a gold ranking in a Job Center mission is required to unlock all tiers. And as for Free Fight missions, they are unlocked by attaining gold rankings in Job Center missions. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ [Q] Can you describe the location of a specific Lovikov Ball in more detail? [A] The descriptions you find in the "Lovikov Ball Locations" are general locations of each Lovikov Ball. You're expected to use the mini-map to pinpoint each ball, which is marked by an orange dot. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ [Q] Why did a Free Fight mission disappear after I failed it? [A] Don't worry. Free Fight missions have a tendency to seemingly appear again at random. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ [Q] Why is the "View True Ending" option not appearing? [A] It will only appear after you have acquired all three katanas from Dr. Naomi. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ =============================================================================== --- 3. Santa Destroy [3300] --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- Santa Destroy is a rather boring town situated somewhere in California. Although much of the town has no function other than to look pretty, there are a few locales of interest. Travis' Room ~ ============ Travis' Room is located on the upper floor of the No More Heroes Motel. On the map, it's marked with a house icon. There are two rooms, each with distinct features. Bedroom - - Closet: Here is your stockpile of the clothes that Travis acquired over the course of the game. Use the closet to change clothes whenever you feel like it. - Drawer: Beam katanas are stored here. Use the drawers to switch weapons. - Map: It's just as its name implies. The map is a map of Santa Destroy. - Telephone: Check your messages about video rentals, ranking battles, and other points of interest here. Living Room - - Toilet: "Save" your game. - TV: Watch any videos you've picked up from the video store or play video games. - Fridge: Replenishes your health. - Cards: All of the trading cards you've acquired through the game will be readily accessible. - Exit: Self-explanatory... yes. Area 51 ~ ======= This is the clothing store (apparently the only clothing store in the entire town). Here, you can purchase various articles of clothing to fill Travis' closet. It's marked with a T-shirt icon on the map. Beef Head ~ ========= The video store is run by Travis' friend, Bishop. Various videos can be rented. The wrestling videos can teach Travis new wrestling moves. Beef Head is also Travis' stop for pornography, as the messages on his answering machine show. On the map, Beef Head is marked by a bull's horn icon. The Office of Thunder Dragon ~ ============================ This is the office of Travis' mentor, Thunder Ryu. This is where you go to buff up and increase speed, strength, and vitality. Exercises are easily performed using the Wiimote and Nunchuks. Each successive exercise will cost more money than the previous one. Thunder Ryu's office is marked by a yellow kanji symbol on the map. Naomi's Laboratory ~ ================== Professor Naomi is your stop for new beam katanas and beam katana upgrades. Bring certain pieces to her and she'll craft new katanas for you. More information on the topic can be found in the 'Upgrades' section of this guide. On the map, Naomi's Laboratory is marked with a beam katana icon. Gold Town ~ ========= In Gold Town, you'll come across a drunken Russian guy by the name of Lovikov. Bring him seven Lovikov Balls and he'll teach you a new technique every time. Lovikov Balls can be found throughout Santa Destroy in various locations. Consult the 'Lovikov Ball Location' section for the ball locations and the 'Lovikov's Techniques' section for the techniques available to you. On the map, Gold Town is marked with a mug of beer. Job Center ~ ========== The Job Center is where you pick up various chump tasks such as mowing lawns and filling up cars at a gas station. The pay is pretty horrid, so spring for K-Entertainment jobs and Free Fight missions for money instead. However, note that in order to unlock more assassin and Free Fight missions, you'll first need to rank favorably in the Job Center missions. A full listing of each task along with a description can be found in the 'Job Center Missions' section of the guide. On the map, the Job Center is marked with a stick figure running. K-Entertainment ~ =============== K-Entertainment is an assassin agency masquerading as an advertising organization. Here, you'll be allowed to take on "gigs" that usually involve you killing numerous targets within a time limit. The pay is often quite high. A full listing of each gig along with strategies and descriptions can be found in the 'K-Entertainment Missions' section of the guide. On the map, K-Entertainment is marked with a skull icon. ATM ~ === When you've attained enough money to fight the next ranked battle, you can deposit the sum at the ATM. On the map, the ATM is marked by a dollar sign icon. --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- 3.4. Battle Techniques [3400] --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- Lock On and Guard ~ ================= Simply press the Z Button to lock on to the nearest enemy. Doing so will enable auto guard, which will block all basic attacks. Charged attacks can not be blocked no matter what. Basic Slash and Combo ~ ===================== These are simple enough to pull off. Simply press the A Button to execute a basic slash. These attacks can be linked into combos by repeatedly pressing the A Button. However, be aware that the time in-between strikes leaves Travis vulnerable to attack. Basic slashes can be dealt in either a high or low stance. Stance is determined by the direction you're pointing your Wiimote. High stance is achieved by pointing the Wiimote upward and low stance is achieved by obviously pointing the Wiimote downward. Enemies can block either high or low but they cannot block both at once. Therefore, if you find that most of your slashes are being negated, switch stances to attack the undefended part. Death Blow ~ ========== When you've lowered an opponent's health, Travis will enter his death blow mode, which allows you to kill an opponent (or seriously wound) by swinging the Wiimote in the specified direction. To increase the power and range of a death blow, swing the Wiimote in the specified direction and then shake it. You'll know that you've pulled it off successfully when triangles appear on the screen. After pulling off a successful death blow, slots will appear at the bottom of the screen. Should you manage to line up three items, Travis will enter his Dark Side Mode. Listed below are all the possible combinations: Strawberry on the Shortcake (3 Grasshoppers) - This mode will make Travis run extremely fast. Slashing an enemy will automatically bring up a death blow icon with the arrow spinning in all directions. Simply move your Wiimote in any direction to deal a death blow. In essence, Strawberry on the Shortcake makes it so that every strike is a death blow. Blueberry Cheese Brownie (Three Bells) - When it's activated, a targeting reticle will appear on the screen. Move it using the control stick and press the A Button to unleash an energy wave that deals heavy damage to distant enemies. Cranberry Chocolate Sundae (Three BARs) - The screen will turn monochrome. When you approach an enemy, a button will appear on-screen. Press whatever button pops up and Travis will completely brutalize the selected enemy. If you miss the correct button, Travis won't do anything. Note that even though the surroundings turn black and white, the spilled blood remains red. What an awesome effect! Anarchy in the Galaxy (Three 7s) - Attaining Anarchy in the Galaxy doesn't have an immediate effect. Rather, one "7" icon will be added to your stock in the lower- right hand corner of the HUD. Press the - Button to activate an enormous explosion that eliminates all non-boss enemies in the vicinity. A total of three Anarchy in the Galaxy stocks can be held at once. Cherry (Three Cherries) - The movement of enemies will be slowed, allowing you to hit them with blazing speed. This mode is useful as an offensive measure and a defensive measure as well because it allows you to slip away from danger. Charged Slash ~ ============= A powerful charged slash can be executed by pressing and holding the A Button. Travis will slice once and then hold his beam katana as it charges up. The A Button can be released at any time to unleash the charged slash. Compared to a regular slash, this attack deals much more damage over a greater area. Charged slashes are extremely useful against large mobs of enemies. However, because Travis is vulnerable while charging up, it isn't recommended that you attempt this in the middle of a fight. Weapon Clash ~ ============ Every once in a while, Travis will strike an enemy just as he is about to hit Travis. The subsequent clatter results in a weapon clash. As soon as you see the Wiimote on-screen, trace the circle as rapidly as you can. Be sure you're moving the Wiimote in the right direction too! If Travis is successful, the enemy will be stunned momentarily, allowing plenty of time to unleash a death blow. If you're unsuccessful, Travis will be pushed back and stunned for a short period of time. Beat Attack ~ =========== Beat attacks can be executed by pressing the B Button. The function of this move is not to deal damage to an enemy, rather to potentially stun an enemy to lead up to a grab. Many regular enemies can be stunned quite easily, whereas boss characters are much harder to effectively stun. Beat attacks have a higher chance of stunning when you attack from the back or when you attack after dodging and evading an enemy attack. Charged Beat Attack ~ =================== Press and hold the B Button to charge up a charged beat attack. These have a higher chance of stunning a target than a typical beat attack. However, charging an attack leaves Travis vulnerable to enemy attacks. Emergency Evade ~ =============== While locked on to an enemy, press left, right, or down on the Control Pad to perform a roll in the selected direction. While rolling, Travis will be impervious to all attacks. Used properly, emergency evades can confuse enemies and create openings for you to attack. If you time it correctly, the screen will darken and the enemy's movement will slow. This technique is often referred to as the darkstep. Circling Around ~ =============== Circling around is the easiest way to reach an enemy's unguarded backside. As soon as you block an attack, press either left or right on the Control Pad to swiftly circle around the enemy. Grab and Throw ~ ============== Once an enemy is successfully stunned via beat attacks, Travis can walk up to the stunned enemy and perform a grab. Do this by pressing the B Button when the prompt shows up at the bottom of the screen. Having achieved that, swing the Wiimote and Nunchuk simultaneously in the indicated directions on-screen to perform a throw. Throws deals huge amounts of damage to regular enemies and bosses alike. Down Attack ~ =========== Press the A Button when Travis is near a downed enemy (after having performed a throw) to finish him off. Counter ~ ======= This is a little-known technique that is incredibly powerful. To execute it, just perform a block JUST as an enemy is striking you. As soon as you block the attack, hit the A Button and Travis will unleash an unblockable attack that kills almost any enemy in a single hit. You'll know you've done it right when Travis glows white and the katana sparks. =============================================================================== --- 4. Walkthrough --- [4000] =============================================================================== ~ You are Travis Touchdown, an anime fan from the town ~ ~ of Santa Destroy, California. After winning a Beam ~ ~ Katana in an internet auction, Travis is compelled ~ ~ to walk the path of a hit man. As the 11th-ranked ~ ~ assassin, Travis will have to prove himself worthy ~ ~ and defeat 10 other bloodthirsty killers as he ~ ~ slashes his way to the top of the United Assassins ~ ~ Association. ~ --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- 4.1. Rank 10 [4100] --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- As Travis Touchdown, walk down the side of the motel to the staircase. You'll automatically grab hold of your bike, the Schpeltiger (wow what a name). At this point, the whole introductory sequence will pop up. You can skip it, but I strongly suggest you watch it just because it's one of the most kickass openings you'll ever see in your life. Fo' serious. --- Travis will arrive at the Townsend Residence (also known as the Death Metal Mansion) with an impressive entrance. This scene is a nice indication at the amount of bloodspilling you'll be doing in a little bit. After cutting through the door (and the guard, of course), you'll be offered a tutorial, detailing the basics of combat. If you've never played No More Heroes before, I strongly suggest you at least try it. Many of the techniques detailed in this walkthrough require prior knowledge of the controls and methods of pulling them off. At the entrance, two guards will immediately come running down the staircase. Practice your beam katana techniques on their pathetic heads. Lock on to the first one and cut him down. Then, work on taking down the other one any way you prefer. Following their deaths, the door at the top of the staircase will open. Make your way up there and proceed down the hall to a bedroom. Immediately lock on to the nearest guard and begin slicing away at him. The enemies you'll face here aren't particularly tough to kill individually. It's their large numbers that may cause some problems for you. As long as you are quick and efficient, they should not even be able to land a hit on you. I'd suggest charging up for a slash and releasing it in the middle of the pack. That way, you can effectively eliminate a good number of the guards with a single stroke. Once the guards are down for the count, hit the purple chest for a health pickup. The door to the next hallway will subsequently open. At the red corridor, head all the way down to the left to find a chest containing money. Now, go in the opposite direction and ascend the staircase at the end. At the end of the corridor is a blue chest containing a battery powerup. Hit it to recharge your beam katana (although you probably don't really need it). Turn around and pull a right into the other corridor. At the end is a red chest with Trading Card No.001 (collecting these cards is completely optional, though doing so will unlock some cool extras). Turn around and slip into the next room. As you enter, the doors will close behind you. After a second, a whole mob of guards will appear. As they approach, charge your katana for a charged attack and let it loose as the mob gets close. The resulting strike should knock away a majority of the group, leaving a few for you to target and kill. Then, as the other guards get up, target the remaining enemies. Don't let your guard down even when you think you've killed all of the guards - more and more will appear. You'll know that you eliminated all of the enemies when the doors open up again. Before you leave, smash the red chest in the middle for Trading Card No.002. The purple chest holds some pizza you can eat to replenish health. Now, leave the study through the right door and pull a right for a money chest. Then, make your way back to the entrance room. You'll encounter a few guards, but they should not pose much of a threat to you with their puny razors and katanas. As you pass by the bedroom, the door underneath the main staircase will open. Return to the entrance room and head down that way. Kill the first four enemies in this corridor. Upon doing so, a guard equipped with a beam katana of his own will appear at the end of the hall. Defeating him isn't too tough. Just block his attacks and wait for an opening. His lunges are predictable enough to easily find an opportunity to strike. Mix in beat attacks and you might be able to stun him long enough for a grab attack. This is most easily achieved by dodging his attacks and then slipping behind him (a '?' will appear over his head, signifying his confusion). When he's on the ground, you can just impale him right there. Following his defeat, an exclamation point will appear over the next door. Been waiting for that all-out slashfest? This next room will be sure to satisfy your bloodlust. Before you enter, charge up your beam katana for the coming fight. Apart from the pillars inside, there's still plenty of room to maneuver and have a little "fun" with the various guards. Stay locked on to your enemies to prevent anyone from landing a hit on you. After the first batch of goons, a few more waves will appear. Keep slashing until the next door opens. Before you leave, smash the chests along the walls. There's a health and battery pickup. The other chest holds Trading Card No.003. Lastly, the final chest holds money. Make your way to the exit and engage the katana-wielding guard. Slice him apart and head outside. Turn left first and snag Trading Card No.004. Then, turn around and begin attacking the armed guards along the path. Keep the Z Button pressed to block any bullets they shoot at you. They'll attempt to run away as you get close - cut them down before they can escape. At the end of the stone pathway will be another exclamation point, leading into the cathedral. You won't encounter any enemies from here until the boss fight so don't be afraid to let your guard down. As you proceed, Silvia will call you on your cell phone with nothing really important to say (I admit, the whole Wiimote cell phone scheme is pretty cool). At the end of the path is a save point, a new wrestling move (check out the mask on the ground), a health pickup, a battery pickup, and a chest containing Trading Card No.005. The exclamation point will bring you to Death Metal. Death Metal ~ =========== Don't let his huge body and gigantic sword intimidate you. If you have at least some basic knowledge of blocking and striking, this fight should be no problem. Death Metal begins with a few sword combos. Either dodge them or block them and wait for an opening in his attacks. Try to avoid blocking every single one of his lunges because they'll drain your katana battery in no time. Dodge left or right whenever he attacks to pop up behind him. From this position, you can easily slice his undefended back or hit him with a beat attack. Getting him dazed is not a hard task to accomplish. Grabs will do enormous amounts of damage to him. Since he's so vulnerable, abuse them as much as you want. Once you bring down about half of his health bar, he'll split up into three separate bodies. The two with full health bars are his weaker images. They can still damage you significantly though! Keep your guard up and try to isolate one of the bodies instead of taking them all on at once. Once you manage to do so, wait for an opening and strike away. The lesser bodies don't have much health and are easily killed with a few good hits. Focus on killing the two before returning to Death Metal. The rest of the battle is not too difficult. Death Metal will pick up a new whirlwind attack that's still easily blocked and avoided. Just keep up what you were doing before until you defeat him. After Death Metal's rather gruesome death, snag the health powerup inside the chest nearby. Then, step into the exclamation point to meet with Silvia. Congratulations, you are now ranked 10. --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- 4.2. Rank 9 [4200] --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- At last, you get a chance to relax in your motel room for a bit. After saving your game, a call from Silvia will tell you to get your ass outside. Feel free to explore your room for a bit - you're in no rush. Once you're outside, step into Silvia's car and she'll fill you in on the whole process of gaining ranks. Your next target is Dr. Peace, a detective with influences in the black market. However, you'll need to pay an entry fee of LB$150000. You'll be dropped (kicked) off at K-Entertainment, an organization of assassins. Enter the building and you'll be told off because you don't have the experience. Well, there's always the Job Center. You can go to the Job Center (marked by a pink icon with a dude running) immediately and earn the cash you need to enter. After depositing the cash, return to your motel and an message on the answering machine will direct you to Destroy Stadium. Get on your Schpeltiger and make your way to Destroy Stadium, located at the southwest corner of town. Find the big roman numeral "IX" and prepare yourself for the next ranked fight. --- The regular enemies here are armed with baseball bats, axes, and baseballs. Occasionally, they'll attempt to tackle you. You'll know when they're about to do that when they glow red. Move into the room and begin slashing right away. As you enter, move down to the left, where an enemy with a beam katana is waiting. Before provoking him, kill the other goons in the immediate vicinity. Do your best to avoid his unavoidable charged attack, which will be indicated when he glows red. Evade around his strikes and get behind him for an opportunity to strike. Finish him off and break open the chests for health, battery, and Trading Card No.006. Now, begin moving in the opposite direction. You'll encounter a few more enemies on this side of the hallway. Plow through them any way you see fit and the gate at the top of the ramp will open. Make your way up there and smash the chest on the right for some money. As for the enemies in the room, execute a charged slash to clear away most of them. Mop up the rest and engage the goon with the beam katana near the gate. At this point, you should be able to fight these tougher enemies with ease. Evading his attacks is the most important thing to keep in mind. Go through the exclamation point and past the gate. In this long corridor, you will encounter a line of enemies. The idea is to use your beam katana as a bat and return the pitch so it cuts right through the entire line of enemies. Use your Wiimote as a bat (in a similar fashion to Wii Sports baseball) and return the pitches as they come. You'll be given three opportunities to hit the ball before the enemies get fed up and engage you the old-fashioned way. If you aren't successful, you'll just have to kill the remaining enemies to unlock the next gate. Snag the health and battery pickup from the first two chests down the hallway. The last two chests hold money. Go past the gate and smash the chest on the left for Trading Card No.007 and then eliminate the goons in the room. Upon doing so, a gate at the top of the ramp will open. Smash the blue chest for a battery and proceed past the exclamation point at the top of the ramp. This next room has a ton of enemies. Execute a charged slash and perform a few death blows. Cross your fingers for a dark side mode to activate to make the menial task of plowing through these enemies easier. The key thing to remember is to block, evade, and block some more. When there are this many enemies, you could eat a few hits if you open yourself up to perform long-winded combo attacks. After clearing the room, another exclamation point will appear at the end of the path. Here we are with the batting game again. It's the same process as before; use your beam katana as a bat and hit the ball back through the line of enemies. Succeed and you won't have to deal with killing any of them. Be sure to smash the first chest for some money and the second chest for Trading Card No.008. The last two chests contain a battery pickup and a health pickup. The room beyond the gate is also full of enemies. Do what you do best and clear the enemy presence from the room. Then, smash the chest for Trading Card No.009. Step into the exclamation point at the elevator doors to find yourself in a narrow corridor. Combat is a bit tougher here because of the smaller space. Battle your way through the first few enemies and get up the battery and health pickups from the chests. At the end of the corridor is a single enemy wielding a beam katana. As you approach him though, two more beam katana- wielding goons will hop out of the bathrooms. Facing two of these enemies is much tougher than just going one-on-one. Quickly lock on to the nearest one and slash and beat attack him until he's dizzy. Take the opportunity to grab him to take down a good portion of his health. Continue to focus on that same enemy and repeat the process until he dies. At the same time, avoid the other enemy by blocking and stepping out of the way when he attempts a charged attack. When it's just one-on-one again, use the tried and true strategy of evading and attacking to bring him down with ease. All that remains is the last beam katana-wielding enemy at the end of the hallway. Kill him and take Trading Card No.010 from the nearby chest. As you approach the final hallway, Silvia will give you a call on your cell phone to indicate that you're just about at Dr. Peace. You know the drill. Save your game, learn a new wrestling move (in this case, it's the Reverse Armsault), and grab the battery and health pickup. Stepping into the exclamation point at the end will bring you to Dr. Peace at last. Dr. Peace ~ ========= Dr. Peace, with his double revolvers, is a ranged attacker. In order to even challenge him, you'll need to get up close and personal. Staying close won't be easy either unless you're quick enough to evade his bullets. At the start, you will need to run your way up to the gun-toting Dr. Peace. Keep your Z Button pressed in case any bullets come sailing your way. As soon as the first indication appears (usually in the form of bullet trails in the air), break off to the left or right. Make sure you're still locked on Dr. Peace, so you'll still move toward him even while evading his bullets. When you get up close enough, wait for him to reload and then move in for the strike. You should be able to get a few hits in before he knocks you back. Be wary of his charged attack. You can tell he's about to use it when he begins to glow red. As soon as this sign emerges, put some distance between yourself and the boss (around 10 feet) and circle around him. When he fires, he's guaranteed to miss you if you're moving to the side. This is primarily a battle of endurance. Break off and block when he begins to fire and move in and attack when he reloads. If possible, put him in a daze with a few beat attacks from the back and perform a few grabs to take off a good chunk of health. Also try to avoid getting yourself in a weapon clash with him; should you lose the clash, he'll get a chance to riddle your body with bullets and effectively push you a good distance back. Once the battle is over, smash the nearby chest for a health powerup. Step into the exclamation point and Silvia will award you with the rank 9 spot. --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- 4.3. Rank 8 [4300] --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- Now that you're ranked 8, a number of new locations will open up to you. The next ranked fight costs LB$200000. Even if you have the money, I'd strongly suggest you pay Naomi a visit to purchase the new Tsubaki beam katana model. There's a new part-time job available at the Job Center as well. Gold rank it to unlock a few more K-Entertainment gigs, along with a Free Fight mission. Also note that you can now do some exercises (at a fee, of course) at Thunder Ryu's. When you're ready, deposit the money in the ATM for the next fight. Return to your motel room and Silvia will give you a call, informing you that the next ranked fight is at the Santa Destroy High School. --- Some things never change. Looks like the school bullies are out to get you as always. Show them a little something called your beam katana and slice up the enemies in front of the school's door. Then, head to the right and kill the few enemies stationed here as well. A chest nearby contains Trading Card No. 011. Return to the front and head the other way down the stone path. There are a few more enemies a little bit further up. Once they're dead, an exclamation point will appear above the main entrance. Go over there and enter the school. Inside, turn right at the hallway to find Trading Card No.012 inside a chest. Flip around and kill the various hooligans here. At the end of the corridor, a goon with a torch will jump out. Avoid getting hit by the torch because you'll be set on fire. Luckily, there's a fire extinguisher at the corner in case you do. For the remainder of this course, fire extinguishers will be strewn about in various locations for you to run to should you be set on fire. Advance down the light-filled hallway and turn right. Deal with any torch- bearing enemies here as well. Even though you have extinguishers nearby, try to avoid getting set on fire because it does take a good chunk out of your health. Anyway, at the end of this hallway, turn left (the dark room on the right leads to a fire extinguisher) through another light-filled hall. At the end, you'll find another exclamation point. Step through the door. Here, an enemy will raise his torch up to activate the school's sprinkler system. If you didn't already know, electricity doesn't mix too well with electronics. And you can't much more electric than Travis' beam katana. As soon as you regain control, you'll notice that your beam katana won't be able to function anymore. Quickly run down the linear hallway past the various goons here and there until you reach the end. Duck into the maintenance room and hit the power to stop the sprinklers from raining death. Grab the battery pickup and backtrack down the same hallway. The enemies are still here, so you'll have to deal with them as they appear. Luckily, the sprinklers put out their torches. At the end of the hall, you will encounter a small mob of about four enemies. Execute a charged slash to put them in their places and step through the open door marked with an exclamation point. Oh no, it's gym class all over again! If you have any 'Anarchy in the Galaxy' salvos, now would be a great opportunity to use it. Otherwise, just slash away. Should the enemies manage to overwhelm you, run to a corner and charge up your beam katana for a charged slash. If you maintain your guard, you should have little trouble killing them. The final two enemies to appear will both wield beam katanas. Isolate the one closest to you and kill him as quickly as possible. If you can, execute a grab to put him on the ground long enough for you to finish him off. Then, focus on the other one. After the battle, collect the health and battery pickups at the far corners of the gymnasium. Then, exit through the open blue door at the other end. On your left will be a chest containing Trading Card No.014. Go to the staircase at the end and check underneath it to find Trading Card No.013. Afterwards, climb the steps and listen to Silvia give you some more of her signature pep talk on the cell phone. At the end of this hall is another chest with Trading Card No. 015. Break it open and then move to the end of the next hall, where you'll find a new wrestling move, a health pickup, and a save point (a.k.a. potty). When you're ready, step into the exclamation point. Shinobu ~ ======= Emergency evades will prove to be extremely useful in this battle. Shinobu makes up for her below-average vitality with lightning speed and unpredictable attacks. This battle will be mostly a defensive effort on your part. When the battle begins, you'll find Shinobu behind you. Quickly lock on to her and let her make the first move. Block or evade her strikes and quickly look for an opening to counterattack. Don't leave yourself vulnerable by stringing up long combos though; she will likely slip away and attack you from another angle. The key is to only attack the instant she finishes a move. This is the only time she'll be vulnerable to attack. Shinobu has a number of different charged moves. Some of them are tougher to dodge than others. One of them will always appear after she performs a flip toward you. This one is very difficult to avoid if you aren't expecting it because she'll execute as soon as she leaves her flip. Therefore, you'll have to look for the tell-tale somersault instead and slip out of the way. Sonic Sword is her ranged charged attack. She rarely uses this early in the battle (and still seems to hesitate at the end) unless you're far away. However, it's quite a devastating attack that can not be evaded. Avoid it by stepping off to the right or left as quickly as possible. Near the end of the battle, she'll fire off multiple Sonic Swords. If you get hit by the first one, chances are the rest of the string will get you too. Do your best to avoid this attack at all costs. Shinobu is nightmarish when her health gets extremely low. At that point, she can use a charged attack that can kill you instantly should it connect. Watch when she sheathes her sword. This is your cue to run away backwards as far as possible. If you're quick enough, she'll slash at nothing but air, leaving herself vulnerable to a counterattack. Fight defensively. Always block, slide to the left or right, and hit her twice or thrice before quickly returning to a block. As for her charged attacks, just step away to avoid them. Shinobu will definitely outspeed you, so don't attempt to overwhelm her with A Button mashing. The battle can be quite frustrating, especially towards the end when you've brought down her health only to be killed by her instant-death move. Following the battle, snag the health powerup and step into the exclamation point to return to your motel room after a brief encounter with Silvia Christel and her "cleaning" team. --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- 4.4. Rank 7 [4400] --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- An invoice on your fax machine will show the price of the next ranked battle to be LB$250000. Looks like you'll need to do a few more odd jobs to get that cash. While you're getting the money ready, consider checking out the newly opened Gold Town and Beef Head. I'd strongly suggest you get some Lovikov Balls for a few new techniques. The jumping slash and jump down attack are both recommended skills to learn because they'll make the coming fights much easier. There are really plenty of upgrades to snag before you move on to the next fight. Take your time to prepare yourself before jumping the gun. When you're ready with LB$250000, head to the ATM and deposit the cash. Then, return to your motel. Silvia won't be able to tell you the location right away, so attempt to exit the motel room to find a letter with the details on the coming fight. Head down to the subway and enter. --- Wow, what a surprise. There's no enemies throwing themselves at your neck. Go down the hall and collect Trading Card No.016 at the corner. Then, step into the big exclamation point by the turnstiles to enter the subway itself. Make your way down the stairs into the subway. Hmm, for some reason, the subways are completely empty... It's kinda creepy. Walk forward a little bit and snag Trading Card No.017 near the exclamation point. Then, step into the marker and get on the subway. Now it's time for some killing. Move forward on to the next subway car and engage the single enemy here. The tight quarters will be slightly restrictive, but you should still have no trouble lopping his head off. Once he is dead, move on to the next car and engage the two enemies here. Due to the tight quarters, you'll want to keep your guard up because there isn't any room to evade. The next train car has a goon with a katana (no not a beam katana) and the one following that car has two. Your strategy should not change against these slightly more powerful units. Beyond that is a car with an axe-wielding enemy. Take him down any way you see fit and go into the last train. In here are two regular enemies and one with a beam katana way back. Quickly perform a jumping slash (if you have learned it) to knock down one (or if you're lucky, two) of the goons to quickly create some breathing room. As for the beam katana wielder, keep your guard and be prepared to evade when he charges up. Leave the subway train through the exclamation point at the end. When you exit, turn right and smash the chest for Trading Card No.018. Once you have that, head up the steps. In here, inspect the corner for Trading Card No.019 before stepping through the turnstiles. Leave the station to find yourself outside of the Bear Hug Film Studio. Head down to the entrance and enter the large grey warehouse. Let the bloodshed begin again! There are a large number of enemies in this building, but most of them will not attack you until you approach them. Engage the first group that approaches and kill them as efficiently as you can. To avoid getting knocked around, use your evasive techniques to find openings. As always, keep your guard up when not attacking. After the first group has been eliminated, move on to the end of the building and attack the three enemies here. The ones wielding stop signs (how creative) have a slightly longer range than the other enemies. Go up the stairs nearby to find three enemies with pistols. Either wait until they reload or perform a jumping slash to knock them off their feet. When you manage to get close to these enemies, killing them will be easy because they have no exceptional means of blocking your attacks. Afterwards, the door should open. If not, scan the building for any enemies you may have missed. Back outside, the door to the next warehouse will open for you. Before you go in though, check the left alcove to find a chest containing Trading Card No. 020. After picking that up, enter the next warehouse and resume your killing spree. This floor is a bit tougher because there are goons with pistols mixed in with the regular melee units. Prioritize the shooters to make your life easier. Then, focus on clearing away the remaining enemies. Go upstairs and kill the enemies scattered on top as well. Then, return back to the ground floor and kill any remaining enemies inside. You will know that you've killed everyone when the door opens. Once outside, turn right for a health pickup. Then, go into the third and final warehouse. The first group consists of two enemies wielding beam katanas and a regular katana wielder. Use a jumping slash on one of them (preferably a beam katana wielder) to knock away one of them. Deal with the remaining enemies any way you see fit. There are two more beam katana wielders at the far end of the building and two more on top. Once you've cleared out the top floor, go back downstairs to find a stronger enemy with a dark purple beam katana. This enemy is capable of firing energy beams at you. Keep your guard up and dodge when he unleashes one. Upon clearing out this warehouse, Silvia will give you a call. According to her math, there's a 120% chance that you won't survive the coming fight. Well, that's food for thought. Anyway, get the health and battery pickups, a new wrestling move (German Suplex), and save your game. When you're ready, step into the exclamation point to fight Destroyman! Destroyman ~ ========== Mr. "Cosplay" has a number of attacks. Luckily for you, all of them are easily evaded if you know what you're doing. He will often open himself up to attack, making this battle fairly easy in comparison to the others. The thing with Destroyman is that he yells out whatever attack he uses. Although by the time he says the second word (the first word is always Destroy!), he'd already be in the processing of executing the attack. Regardless, keep your ears open and be prepared to dodge or guard whenever you hear him yelling. When he screams Destroy Spark, he'll extend his hand and shoot out electricity from his fingers (like a Sith, ooh). If Travis happens to get caught, he will be stunned momentarily. Destroy Beam is a thin laser that's shot from his eyes. This move can easily be avoided by simply having your guard up. Destroy Cannon is a huge projectile of energy that will toast you if you don't manage to avoid it. Destroy Pound is a ground smash move that deals damage in a shockwave fashion. This attack is easily avoided by simply stepping out of the shockwave range. Lastly, Destroy Buster is his most devastating attack. You can tell when he's about to use it because he'll stand up straight and tall and charge up his uh... crotch cannon (for lack of better term). This devastating beam will follow you for a few seconds before dissipating. When he uses Destroy Buster, put some distance between Travis and Destroyman and run side-to-side. Sometime in the middle of the battle, Destroyman will get himself on top of a crate and lift himself up. From his high vantage point, he will spam Destroy Cannon attacks at you until you manage to bring him back down. Scattered around the room are various panels that control a particular lift. You can either slash them yourself or let Destroyman accidentally hit them with his Destroy Cannon (stand in front of the panel and move away just before a Destroy Cannon shot is about to hit you). One of the panels will be correct, and once you manage to bring him down, he'll stay down for good. Overall, Destroyman is not too difficult to take down. The key here is to know his attacks and know how to avoid them. Apart from Destroy Beam, which can actually be blocked, you will need to get out of the range of his attacks by standing at a distance or using the emergency evade (rolling). When Travis is rolling, he is impervious to all attacks. Abuse this ability whenever you see fit. The best times to attack Destroyman is when he's in the process of using Destroy Spark, after releasing a Destroy Pound, or after a Destroy Buster. At these points, he's most vulnerable to attack from the backside. At other times, take any opportunities you can to slip behind him. Don't neglect to use beat attacks either. Destroyman is very vulnerable to beat attacks and wrestling moves for some reason. He has a ton of health, but you should really be able to take him down without much trouble. Once you know his attacks, you could easily defeat him without taking even a single hit. After a spectacular death (on Destroyman's part, of course), rank 7 is yours. Get the health powerup and step into the exclamation point to find Silvia yet again. She clearly enjoyed the show. --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- 4.5. Rank 6 [4500] --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- The prices of ranked fights continually go up. The price tag on the next one is no exception at LB$300000. There's a new part time job available at the Job Center if you're interested. If you haven't already, get all of the Lovikov techniques. Upgrade your Tsubaki to its full potential as well. When you're ready, deposit the LB$300000 at the ATM and return to the motel. Silvia will call, telling you to come to the beach. Do just that to find yourself in what appears to be a secret military beachhead. Here we go! --- The first few enemies will come up right from the sand. These soldiers are equipped with pistols, so keep your guard up to prevent getting shot. It will be easiest to just use wrestling moves on the armed soldiers to avoid getting constantly shot at by the other gunner. After the first two are dead, two more will rise from the sand. Kill them any way you see fit, and an even larger force will emerge. If you need the health, there are plenty of purple chests strewn along the beachhead. However, don't waste one if you're missing something like one HP point. You'll want to save some of them for the end of the battle. The last two enemies that will appear in this segment consist of a soldier wielding a beam katana and a soldier with a pistol. Take out the ranged gunner first and then work on eliminating the other. The electrified barbed wire fence will cease to zap you now. Before you go, be sure to pick up Trading Card No.021 from the red chest at the south end of the beach. Use the battery and health chests if you need it and continue. In this area, some more soldiers will emerge from the sand. Again, most of them are armed with pistols, so don't expect to run to you. Even if you do get shot up, there are plenty of health chests. Whenever you get a break, hit the chest near the lifeguard stand (marked '22') for Trading Card No.022. Proceed into the next area, which is marked with a 'caution' sign. This signifies that the next area is a minefield. See those yellow dots on your mini-map? Those are the mines. Unfortunately, due to the horrible quality of your map, avoiding these mines will prove to be a tough task. Oddly enough, the enemies can set off the mines and hurt you in the process, yet walk away without taking damage at all. Do your best to inch through the minefield while killing the enemies running around. Use grabs and throws to faciliate the process and minimize the amount of distance you walk. You'll know that you've killed all the enemies when the next barbed wire fence loses power. Before you cut through it, smash the nearby money chests and health chests because you will not be able to come back. As soon as you cut the wire, Travis will step on a landmine, causing the terrain to crater. In the next area, you'll encounter a new enemy, the submachine gunner. These enemies are equipped with machine guns that fire a barrage of bullets. You can block them, but doing so puts a huge strain on your beam katana's battery life. It's better to just strafe back and forth to avoid the bullets. After you get in close, just suplex the enemy or slash him to bits. More sub- machine gunners will emerge one by one from the sand as you kill each one. At the end of the wave, two submachine gunners will appear. This poses a problem because while you're killing one of them, the other will likely be firing at you. Quickly perform a beat attack (these enemies seem to be easily dazed) and throw one of them to eliminate that first enemy. Then, work on the other one as you normally would. Afterwards, the helicopter will drop off a submachine gunner with two pistol wielding soldiers. Focus on killing the submachine gunner first and then deal with the remaining two. Once the sand settles, smash the chest nearby for Trading Card No.023. Use any health and battery chests you need to. Then, cut through the barbed wire fence and Travis will, again, step on a mine. Ouch. The next area is a larger minefield than the previous one. Do your best to navigate through the field, using your mini-map as a guide. The two red chests here are both money chests. Once you pass the minefield, you'll have to contend with a dark beam katana wielder. Watch out when he charges up and be prepared to dodge the energy beam he sends at you. Get in close and kill him quickly. Once he is dead, the helicopter will drop off three submachine gunners. As soon as they land, strafe from left to right as you approach them. Have your guard up in case you get caught in the tracer of one of the submachine guns. When you get close, perform a jumping slash or beat attack on the enemy closest to you. Then, execute a down attack to get rid of one. Then, back off a few feet and strafe back and forth. When another opening presents itself, move in and repeat the process. Kill the last submachine gunner any way you see fit. Smash the chest near the lifeguard stand for Trading Card No.024. Then, cut the barbed wire fence away. As Travis passes, he manages to evade one mine... but happens to land on another. Oh well, what's important is that the rank 6 is up ahead. Silvia will give you another one of her pep talks on the cell phone. Navigate the twisted path through the obstacles and climb up the stairs. At the top, get the health and battery chest. Then, learn the new wrestling move and check the wooden deck nearby for Trading Card No.025. When you're ready, step into the exclamation point. Holly Summers ~ ============= Holly Summers is a lot more dangerous than her peg leg and... shovel may suggest. At the start of the battle, run forward and you'll fall into a hole, one of Holly Summers' many traps. She will blow you out with her grenades the first time, but keep in mind that for each time you fall in, you'll need to mash the A Button or swing the Wiimote/Nunchuk as indicated on the screen. If you're too slow, the grenade she chucks in will throw you out (with some damage to boot). Throughout the battle, Holly Summers will continually run back and forth between holes in an attempt to fill them back up. Even when she does though, the holes will still be somewhat obvious because they're darker than the rest of the sand. You can reveal the hole again by simply slashing the ground where the hole should be. It should be noted that when Holly Summers is running back and forth, she's completely vulnerable to attack. Take advantage of these situations whenever possible and hit the sand off of the covered holes to keep her busy. Her other attacks are damaging, but quite easy to evade. When she glows, that can mean one of two things. Either she's about to launch a barrage of rockets at you or she's about to toss a grenade at her feet and push herself away. To avoid the rocket barrage, put a good bit of distance between you and Holly. Strafe to the side to avoid the rockets as they coming raining in on your head. As for her grenade toss, just move away as quickly as you can to avoid being caught in the blast. When you've brought down her health, she'll begin to use a new strategy. Keep an eye on her when she runs off to the rock at the farther end of the battlefield. When she jumps on top of the rock, quickly find a hole to fall into and stay there until she finishes her rocket barrage. While she's on top of the rock, you can't touch her. After a little bit of waiting, Holly Summers will jump back down and the fight can resume. There are plenty of opportunities to hit Holly Summers. Apart from the aforementioned vulnerability when she runs to fill up the holes, she will also use regular melee attacks fairly often, hitting you with her shovel. These attacks can be darkstepped quite easily. The best way to fight her would be stand up close to her when she's not firing her missile barrage. This will force her to use more melee attacks, giving you more opportunities to evade and strike. Be wary of her sand attack though. If she manages to throw a shovel of sand in Travis' face, he'll be blinded temporarily. Note that even this sand attack can be darkstepped and evaded easily if you time it just as the sand leaves her shovel. Holly Summers is vulnerable to grabs as well. Use a combination of well-placed slashes and suplexes to bring down her health. After the battle is over, Travis' soft spot for women will show. While carrying Holly's body, get the health powerup and the U.S. Military Secrets nearby. Then, step over to the hole and drop Holly's body in. You're now ranked 6. --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- 4.6. Rank 5 [4600] --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- Following the battle, a message on your answering machine (after an important reminder from Beef Head Videos of course) will set the next ranked fight at LB$350000. A new part time job is also available, so check that out when you get the chance. Most importantly though, get the U.S. Military Secrets you stole from Holly Summers to Naomi. She will take it and use it to create a new beam katana. It won't be ready right away, so be sure to come back in about 15-20 minutes. When you've collected the necessary funds for the coming fight, deposit the sum at the ATM and return to the motel. Silvia won't be able to give you the location of the next fight because she's out partying somewhere, so you'll have to rely on yourself. Outside, follow the trail of blood (or you can just follow the "V" on the map) to the Senton Splash Tunnel. --- As soon as you enter, turn around to find the chest for Trading Card No.026. Wow, now that one would be pretty easy to miss. Walk down the stairs in front of you and check both sides of the staircase to find Trading Card No.027 and Trading Card No.028. Up ahead, you'll notice a shady figure who runs from you whenever you get close. The level is very straightforward, perhaps a bit too straightforward. Just follow the length of the tunnel as you chase the figure. Along the way, you will encounter various enemies armed with dark beam katanas. Dodge any enemy beams they launch at you from a distance and get up close to deal with them. Along the way, you should come across Trading Card No.029 in a chest. Once you get to the end of the tunnel, Silvia will give you a call. Up ahead is a save point, health chest, and battery chest. You'll notice that there's no new wrestling move though. Do whatever you need to do and make your way to the exclamation point in the blinding light up ahead. Get Trading Card No.030 from the chest and step in. Letz Shake ========== If you were expecting some sort of epic fight, then you'll be sorely disappointed. Just as Letz Shake is about to blow you away with his devastating-looking weapon, a man by the name of Henry will jump down and slice the contraption right down the middle, killing Letz Shake in the process. Congratulations...? You're now ranked 5. It may not feel so great, but hey, what can you do? Unfortunately, you don't get a health powerup for your toils this time around. --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- 4.7. Rank 4 [4700] --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- An invoice will set the next match at LB$400000. That's a hefty sum to pay up, so go ahead and start finishing the new jobs available. Feel free to get a few more exercises in before the next mission or attain a few more Lovikov Techniques (unless you already have all of them like me). Once you deposit the sum, return to the motel. Silvia will call in and arrange a "date" between the two of you. Where? Who knows? Get over to the subway and let the bloodshed begin. --- Unlike the last time you were in the subway (against Destroyman), enemies are actually in the station this time. The first group should not pose any problems. Be wary of the pistol wielder behind the turnstiles. Eliminate the three of them and smash the chest containing Trading Card No.031 at the other side of the room, by the restrooms. Afterwards, go down the steps nearby into the main part of the station. The majority of the level's enemies are located down here. Begin to make your way toward the end of the station. Fight off the enemies as they approach you. Eventually, you'll come to a submachine gunner. To avoid getting lit up, try to use the pillars as cover. Then, strafe around him and stick your katana through his head. Unlike the other pistol wielders, the submachine gunner won't run away if scared. Near the end of the level is a beam katana wielder. Just beyond him is a dark katana wielder. Kill the first quickly, and then engage the second. Dodge any energy waves he launches at you and get up close enough to strike. Once he's dead, the exclamation point to the next part of the level should appear. If not, scan the floor for any enemies you may have missed. Before you go, be sure to get Trading Card No.032 from the chest at the end. After getting on the subway, Travis will nod off. You know, killing can be quite a tiring task. You'll soon be asked to remove the Nunchuk from the Wiimote to play "Pure White Giant Glastonbury" (wow, what a mouthful), an interesting top-down shooter. The controls are simple. The Directional Pad moves the character, the A Button releases a special attack, the 1 Button shoots, and the 2 Button swings the sword. The game basically pits you against an army of targets (???) that can hurt you by shooting at you or colliding with you. Other enemies include odd grey blocks that hone in on you in an attempt to crush you and various mini-boss vessels that can fire streams of bullets at you. The key is to use your gun to destroy the enemies and swing your sword to absorb energy for your "Special" gauge, which fills up very quickly. The "Special" attack basically prevents all enemies on-screen from firing for a period of time, giving you ample opportunities to run up and slash each one to pieces. When you reach the boss (what appears to be a rendition of the "Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch" from Monty Python), move up to it and slash your sword. When the grey bars rotating around begin to close in, move back to the starting position and shoot at the boss. Then, when the grey blocks recede, move back up and slash away. After the boss is at about half health, the blocks will disappear and it'll begin covering the field with projectiles and bullets. It's almost impossible to weave through and reach the boss, so just slash with your sword and absorb energy for the "Special" meter. When it's full, unleash the special to disable it for a short period of time, and move up and slash away. Repeat this process until the boss falls. You'll be prompted to reconnect the Nunchuk to the Wiimote. Do just that and Travis will get off of the Subway. Turn around and smash the chest for Trading Card No.033. Then, begin heading toward the other end of the station. Silvia will give you a call. This time, by her math, you have a 2000% chance at victory. Those aren't bad odds if you ask me. Walk up the steps at the end and get the two last trading cards. Then, get the new wrestling move and save your game. Harvey Moiseiwitsch Volodarskii =============================== Yes, his name is quite a mouthful, isn't it? Harvey (let's just call him that for now), although quirky, is not a tough boss to take down. His vitality will go down quickly, which is a good thing because I doubt you'll be able to stand the music or his flamboyant personality for too long... Harvey has a few tricks up his sleeve. He will usually begin by summoning a bunch of doves to divebomb at you. This attack is fairly easy to avoid, and as the battle carries on, will no longer be used. His other main attacks are generally swings from his two swords (are they swords?) that are also easy to avoid. The regular strikes can be blocked and evaded. Be wary of his charged blow though because Travis cannot block those. Oftentimes, Harvey will execute a whirlwind attack. This can be tough to avoid because it can come unexpectedly. Harvey will constantly teleport around the stage. This means you'll have to constantly run back and forth in an attempt to get up close to him. Wait for him to attack, block, and quickly sidestep to get a good shot. The best time to attack would be just after he executes one of his regular sword combos. Darkstep him and hit him as many times as you can. Harvey is so fragile that he often becomes dizzy after receiving a flurry of blows. Take advantage of this by using wrestling moves liberally! One thing you should be aware of is that Harvey will sometimes flip the stage upside down. You heard me right - he will actually invert the stage. The controls remain as if you were still standing right side up, meaning that all your movements are inverted. If this is too trippy for you to handle, just find a corner and block until the screen returns to normal (should not take more than 10 seconds). Later in the fight, Harvey will yell out: "Music begin!" and just disappear. This is your cue to figure out where the spotlight is... and run like hell away from it. If it manages to catch you, you'll have to play Harvey's little "Nightmare" game. Travis will be put in a box and prompted to either shake the Nunchuk, shake the Wiimote, or press the A Button as rapidly as possible. Successfully do it and Travis will emerge from the box unscathed. Fail and it's an instant death. It's not really difficult to escape this, but you'll still want to avoid the spotlight just because the whole thing ruins the fluidity of the battle and wastes a lot of time. Harvey does this very often at the end, so it's best to kill him as quickly as possible. All in all, Harvey is a very easy assassin to defeat. His HP is extremely low - a few wrestling moves will bring his health bar down in no time at all. Just be wary of his "Nightmare" game and avoid getting Travis blown up. I personally think Harvey's death is one of the better ones in the game. Bone- crunching goodness and all! Anyway, congratulations on rank 4. Unfortunately, you don't get any sort of health bonus at the end. Though, Travis does get to steal a kiss from Silvia. --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- 4.8. Rank 3 [4800] --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- The dude at the UAA leaves you a rather sardonic message on the answering machine this time around. The price tag on the next rank is a good LB$450000. Better get to mowing those lawns and killing Pizza Butt CEOs. When you have the money, deposit it and return to the motel. Looks like you're off to Speed City now! Take care of any business you need to, and then make your way down to the bus station. --- Oh hey, I was just looking for a bus to Speed Ci- Ow, the hell you hit me for? Guess these bus guys are not as friendly as you might have thought. Feel free to kill the enemies that are attacking you right off the bat, but make sure you pick up Trading Card No.036 (to the right) and Trading Card No. 037 (right in front of you when you start). In order to board the bus, you have to kill all of the bouncers in the area. Use your radar (if you have the technique) to pinpoint each enemy. Seek them all out and collect Trading Card No.037 next to the building. Then, step into the exclamation point to get on the bus. And we're now rolling! Oh wait, you didn't expect this to be a calm ride, did you? Some more goons will jump in to the bus and attempt to take you out. Unfortunately, due to the angle, it can be a bit tough to get through this segment without taking a few hits. It's also very difficult to avoid enemy attacks because there's absolutely no room to move (bus aisles are not particularly roomy). The best way to kill the enemies here is to put some distance between you and the enemy. Ready a charge blow and unleash it on the entire group. The cramped spaces will allow you to hit most of the enemies in a single hit. When a short cutscene shows a beam katana wielder jumping in through the window, prepare to face an entire mob of enemies. This part can be very tough. Don't just swing madly or else you'll get knocked down again and again. Block, then attack and hope for a quick death blow to kill off most of the group. Silvia will call you when the last enemy has been killed off. I won't divulge any details about the conversation, but let's just say she's a bit crazier than usual. When the exclamation point appears, step into it to get off the bus. Hey, did you notice that there's no driver at wheel? Strange... Yep, Speed City is a pretty ugly looking place. As Travis steps off, he will notice that oh no! Jeane has somehow tagged along. When you get the chance, save your game and collect Trading Card No.039. Also get the health and battery pickups before stepping into the exclamation point. Travis will stumble across Thunder Ryu, who meets a rather gruesome end at the hands of Speed Buster's cannon. Now it's just you... and Jeane. Speed Buster ============ Speed Buster is not your typical boss. She starts off about a mile away from Travis at the beginning. At this distance, you're completely at the mercy of her ridiculously cheap laser cannon. The red beam will come slowly, but if it hits Travis, he'll be pushed back a good distance and lose a considerable amount of katana energy. The key is to run up this long stretch, and duck into any alleyways you can. Scan your map for red dots that represent doors that can be broken down (only if you have the Memory of Three technique). Occasionally, enemies will also be ducking for cover in this alleyways - you'll have to contend with them whenever you come across them. Oh, and enemies will be automatically vaporized should they stand in the way of the laser cannon. It's kind of funny. Continue down the stretch using this duck and cover strategy until you get fairly close to Speed Buster (by this I mean there's no viable areas to take cover in any further down the stretch). At this point, duck into the alleyway on the left and you'll notice a line of telephone poles. It has a red dot on it (assuming you have the Memory of Three technique), so it must serve some significance. Before you try tinkering with it though, head back down the other way in that back alley and search for the last chest containing Trading Card No.040. Now, return to that telephone pole and knock it down. The pole will knock down the entire chain of telephone poles and the last one will fall right on top of Speed Buster's precious cannon. Uh oh, looks like it's over for her. Now all you have to do is walk up to her and finish the fight. Collect the health pickup and take your prize, a Japanese Katana. Then, step into the exclamation point. Congratulations, you're now... ranked 2. There's only two more to go. --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- 4.9. Rank 2 [4900] --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- LB$500000 is the price to pay for the next fight. Ouch! Well, it should be noted before I say anything else that even though Thunder Ryu ate it pretty badly with the whole Speed Buster scenario, you can still visit his office. His ghost is still there (if that kind of stuff creeps you out at all) for your information. Don't forget to give the Japanese Katana to Dr. Naomi. She will offer to make something really cool out of it. Be sure to come back later to pick up the Tsubaki Mk-III. It's an expensive purchase, but it sure as hell is worth it! Don't worry about the Energy Saving upgrade yet. It's nice to have, but you probably do not want to go through the trouble of raising all that money... just yet. For now though, just go around and raise the money for the next ranked fight. Once you do, deposit the LB$500000 in the ATM as always. Looks like you're heading to Destroy Stadium again. --- When you arrive at Destroy Stadium, you'll be prompted to jump over the entrance barrier. This is simple enough to achieve because I'm sure you've already discovered the Schpeltiger jump at this point. Once you've over, begin riding through the parking lot of the stadium all the way to the other side. At the other end, you will have to jump over the barrier leading into the actual stadium itself (next to the 'II' icon). Why Travis can't just get off the bike and hop the barrier by himself is beyond me. Anyway, once you've entered the stadium, you will be pitted against a whole legion of goons. The good thing is that you still have possession of the Schpeltiger. Simply run down the enemies as they appear. This is a nice deviation from the simple hack-and-slash missions of the past. Trading Cards No.041 through No.043 can be found in the chests scattered around the baseball stadium. There are also a number of health pickups and battery pickups around as well. You don't need to get off your bike to pick anything up. Simply drive over a trading card (once you've broken the chest with the bike) to pick it up. If you somehow get knocked off your bike (because a goon hit you off or something), you'll have to fight the rest of the battle on foot. Needless to say, you DO NOT want this to happen. The enemies are easy enough to run over but on foot, the submachine gunners and the whole mobs of enemies will prove to be extremely dangerous. If you do get knocked off, use moves that can damage entire mobs of enemies. Try to make good use of charge blows and counters (covered in the Battle Techniques section if you're still unfamiliar with it) to devastate entire groups of enemies. If you get knocked off your bike early in the mission, you might as well just restart. Once all the enemies are dead, a secret entrance will appear underneath the home plate. Step into the exclamation point. Silvia will give you a call around this time. Be sure to get the health and battery pickups if you need them. Learn the new wrestling move (it's been a while since one of these has popped up) and save your game too. Don't forget about Trading Card No.044 and Trading Card No.045 in the two red chests here. When you're ready to go, initiate the fight with Bad Girl. Bad Girl ======== Bad Girl is a psychotic bitch with a baseball bat. She is also one of the tougher bosses in No More Heroes. Defeating her takes a lot of patience and a good knowledge of her battle techniques. The key thing to remember here is that you MUST fight defensively. It's impossible to hit her when she is not attacking. Rather, you have to take advantage of the delay after each of her attacks because that is essentially the only time you can damage her with the katana. Otherwise, she will just block your attacks, leaving you vulnerable for one of her deadly counters. Bad Girl begins with a few basic bat combos. These can be blocked easily. At the beginning of the fight, her combos won't last too long, but as you deal more damage to her, she will begin to add more blows to each one. As the fight carries on, they'll still be just as easy to block. Following each of these strings, Bad Girl will delay her attacks for a few seconds, giving you ample opportunities to go in deal a few blows of your own. The end of these combos also gives you a great chance to perform a darkstep (I find it easier doing it to the left because sometimes, she'll just evade your blows from the right) and get in a bunch of hits. As the fight carries on, Bad Girl will incorporate more dangerous moves into the battle. Watch carefully when she twirls her bat around in her (she usually says "Batter up!" while doing this) hand. This is your cue to immediately dodge out of the way before she finishes the move. The final strike is unblockable and deals a good deal of damage. After dodging to the side, you can run up around to her rear and get in a few strikes this way. When you notice her charging up while standing in the typical batter stance, DO NOT hit her. This is her counter, and she will knock you a good one if you attempt to attack her. This move should not be an issue because you shouldn't be directly trying to attack her anyway (remember, fight defensively). Occasionally, Bad Girl will just fall on the ground and cry. This is one of her more cheaper techniques, and it can catch players off guard. Look at her hand placement carefully - if one of her hands is resting on her bat, DO NOT attempt to attack her. If you do, she will knock Travis down and beat him the bat until he dies (this is her instant death move). After you wait it out, she will get back up, muttering a quick curse under her breath. At this point, you can move in and get a few hits in. However, if both her hands are on her face when she's crying, you can just walk up to her and deal a few blows without fear. Not too far into the fight, Bad Girl will run up to the conveyor belt and begin batting her personal gimps at you. There are several ways you can avoid this. Either dodge out of the way as the gimp flies at you OR bat the gimp back at her. The second method requires precise timing - the katana has to connect with the gimp just as he hits you. If you're successful, a prompt will appear on-screen (similar to a weapon clash) telling you to rotate your Wiimote and Nunchuk. Doing so will damage Bad Girl a bit, but you'll still have to fight the gimps regardless of whether or not you batted him back. Later in the battle, Bad Girl will catch on to your trick and begin batting the gimps back at you. Unless your timing is excellent, I strongly suggest you just dodge the gimps instead. Her final attack is a shockwave move. She usually begins to execute this near the end of the fight, after she has lit her bat on fire. Watch her carefully. When she hops up in the air, be prepared to dodge as soon as she lands. The shockwave is by far her strongest attack, so you do not want to get hit by it if you're low on health. Apart from that, she does not gain any new attacks. As stated before, you can only attack her after she finishes a move. The best time to do so is after one of her bat combos. Block these until she finishes them with a powerful down smash and then darkstep to the left. Then, mash the A Button to dish out a ton of damage. If you can get her dizzy in the process, walk up and suplex her for some extra damage. It's more difficult to darkstep her against some of her techniques. For the "Batter up!" and shockwave attacks, I'd recommend just dodging and then running behind her for the strike. If you're having any trouble with the fight, use the gimps she bats at you to your advantage. Any death blow performed on a gimp has the potential to hit Bad Girl as well. If you can move the gimps closer to her and initiate a death blow on each one, you can easily land in a few cheap shots against Bad Girl. Following the battle, get the health powerup and step into the exclamation point. Silvia's henchmen will show up, but she was apparently unable to attend the fight. --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- 4.10. Rank 1 [4010] --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- The first rank is in sight! Before you can undertake it though, you will have to raise up some money not only for the actual ranked fight, but also for the katana upgrades (if you haven't purchased them already). For the LB$999999 Energy Saving upgrade, you're looking at a lot of lawns to mow. Okay, you don't have to mow lawns, but it's still tedious work. Since this is going to be your last fight, take this time to fully upgrade Travis. Complete all of the exercises at Thunder Ryu's and attain all of the Lovikov Techniques if you haven't already. Deposit the LB$550000 when you have it. Before you return to the motel though, make sure that you have the Memory of Child technique learned. You'll be kicking yourself later if you don't. --- As soon as you leave the motel room, a shady guy will drive off with your precious Schpeltiger. Looks like you're running the rest of the way on your own. Hopefully, you have the Memory of Child technique to make the trip a bit easier. Run down towards the 'I' symbol on the mini-map to find your Schpeltiger just sitting there. A few goons will fly by on their motorbikes. Take chase! This highway chase pits you against two enemies driving around on motorcycles. Keep up with them and ram them off. Let them get too far away and they'll start to drop fire behind them. One ram should be sufficient to knock down a rider. Another thing to note: don't crash into the various boxes scattered along the highway or else you'll take damage. The enemy will often accidentally run into these boxes themselves (they were never all that intelligent) and take care of themselves for you. Do not attempt to ram into a motorcycle that has already been downed because you'll take damage as well. Eventually, a ramp will lead you off the highway on to a back road through some thick woods. Occasionally, you'll come across a fallen tree. Avoid these by jumping over them. Enemies on motorbikes will still attempt to follow you here, but they'll almost always be knocked down by the trees. After a bit more driving, a laser will begin to fire at you. Watch the beam carefully because after a few seconds, the laser will appear. As soon as this happens, boost to the other side of the road to avoid it. It may take a bit of practice to get the hang of it. The laser does minimal damage anyway, so don't fret too much over it. A short bit after that, the camera will reveal a drawbridge up ahead. Boost when the speedometer appears on the screen and jump when the prompt comes up. Do it correctly and Travis will sail over the gap into the woods. Before you do anything else, turn around collect Trading Card No.046 in the chest sitting next to the concrete wall. Then, begin walking into the woods to encounter Thunder Ryu's ghost. He will point you in the right direction. No, he's not lying! Just go right (If you take the wrong path, a deep mist will encircle Travis and return him to the starting position. Actually, this can be used to your advantage because health chests respawn) and fight the enemies that appear in the path. These enemies are much tougher than the ones you've battled in the past. Also, they are all equipped with beam katanas. Even so, defeating them should not be too tough. Just block and evade their charged attacks and watch out for energy beams. At the next fork, smash the chest for Trading Card No.047. Then, turn left and follow the path. Some more katana-wielding thugs will appear in your path. Deal with them anyway you see fit. At the next fork, smash the chest for Trading Card No.048. To proceed, take the right path. If you need it, there's a health chest located just a little bit down the left path. Don't step too far though or else you'll be brought back to the start. After walking down this path, you'll be pitted against four katana-wielding enemies. This fight can be tough, especially with all of the unblockable charged attacks they have. I find that the easiest way (assuming you're carrying the Tsubaki Mk-III) to defeat them all is to simply unleash a low charge attack on your katana. A single one should be able to knock out at least two of them. Then, just work on defeating the remaining two. At the fork, smash the chest for Trading Card No.049 and turn left. At the end, Thunder Ryu will disappear, leaving behind a letter. After reading it, get Trading Card No.050 in the chest nearby and proceed. You'll receive one last call from Silvia along the way. Save your game and pick up the health chest before entering the realm of the final ranked assassin (even though it's all been revealed to be a crock, it's still a pretty epic moment). Dark Star ========= ... He eats it before you even get a chance. After some chilling revelations, it's time to fight the one. And boy, is she a tough one. Jeane ===== Jeane is one of the toughest bosses in the game. She's not all that dangerous, and her attacks are fairly easy to avoid, but she has an uncanny ability to dodge almost all of your moves. It's impossible to land extended combos on her because she can just twist out of the way with ease. She has a tendency to dodge nearly every regular swing you throw at her, meaning you'll have to rely on hitting her after she strikes at you or... even better, using charged attacks. Jeane begins with a few weak attacks. Her most common attack is a combo of blows. The first few strikes are blockable, but the last punch is unblockable. Remember that! To avoid it, simply keep your guard up and dodge out of the way before the final blow lands. If you're feeling extra daring, you can actually strike her before she lands the final blow. It is possible to hit her enough to completely prevent her from landing the final blow. Alternatively, you can darkstep to the side to catch her off-guard for a few seconds. This combo attack changes very little through the course of the battle. The strategy for avoiding remains the same. She also employs a high roundhouse kick in which she launches one leg up into the air and sends it down, knocking Travis to the ground should it connect. This move does negligible damage and is easily avoided with a simple dodge. Jeane becomes vulnerable after landing. This move appears less frequently as the battle carries on. Occasionally, Jeane will zip around in a semi-circle to change her position. This move does not deal any damage. Rather, it's just a means for her to attain a better fighting position in relation to Travis. When you notice Jeane charging up in a defensive stance, DO NOT attack her or else you'll suffer a nasty counter attack. This move is not difficult to avoid (just don't attack her!), but if you were in a middle of an attack, you'll probably eat a big one. Jeane's most dangerous move is a charged attack. It's easy to predict, though it can be tough to dodge effectively. Watch her carefully when she lowers her stance and charges up. A few seconds later, you can be sure that she'll dash toward you. If this move connects, Travis will be knocked off his feet with a good chunk of health missing. The key to avoiding this charged attack is to wait a few seconds before dodging. If you dodge too early, Jeane will hit Travis just as he's emerging out of his dodge. Later in the fight, this attack turns into a two-part charge and eventually, a three- part charge. Avoid them by dodging twice and three times. Finally, she acquires a small shockwave move about halfway through the fight. Watch her when she lifts a foot in the air. As soon as this sign pops up, dodge immediately. She does it quickly, so timing is everything. When Jeane is brought down to about 2/3 of her health bar, she will make the dragon barrier surrounding the grounds smaller. She will do this again at approximately a third of her health bar as well. There will be less room to maneuver, but the battle does not get that much harder. Defeating Jeane can be a tough task, especially if you aren't used to her fighting style. As stated before, she dodges nearly every strike you attempt to her with. However, this can be used to your advantage. Even whilst in the middle of one of her own attacks, Jeane will quickly cancel her own attack to evade one of your blows. This can be used to prevent her from using her deadly charged attacks or cancel the final charged blow of her combo attack. Although you won't be able to land a hit on her, using this strategy can fend off an attack when dodging is not an option. Regular swings won't always connect, so charged attacks are more efficient in this case. You don't even need to charge it all the way - simply hold the A Button down for a second and release. Granted, it won't be a powerful swing, but it's enough to knock Jeane back a little bit. She has a tough time dodging these, so use them as often as you can. The best time to attack her would be just after she has finished one of her attacks in the few split seconds she is vulnerable. After successfully landing a weak charged attack, you can easily follow up with a few more strikes. One last thing, DO NOT try to grapple Jeane. If you do, she will turn the suplex against Travis and end up dealing a healthy bit of damage. If you've tried your hardest and still can't seem to defeat her, there is a rather cheap method of finishing her. The low charged attack on the Tsubaki Mk-III is devastating, especially when all three hits land on her. Since Jeane fights somewhat defensively, you should be able to easily find the time to charge the katana up quickly. Execute a low charged attack while she's in the middle of one of her combos because Travis is invincible while using it. This way, Jeane will close enough for all three hits to land. Using this move, her health bar will deplete in no time. After dealing the final blow, you'll be forced into an automatic weapon clash. Waggle the Wiimote as hard as humanly possible to finish the fight. After the battle, Shinobu will fly in from nowhere and save Travis from an uncertain demise. Jeane is dead, making you rank one! As if it mattered at all now... Save your game and you'll be given the option of viewing the ending or viewing the "real ending." If the second option is not there, then you haven't acquired the three beam katanas. Return to Santa Destroy and do just that to make it appear. ... Real Ending... Surprise, Henry returns to finish the fight! Henry ===== The first time you fight him, Henry may make you bawl your eyes out - he's that difficult. His speed is unmatched (except for Jeane), his attacks are quick and oftentimes unpredictable, and his vitality is extremely high. Not only that, but he will often employ an instant death move that is easy enough to avoid, but may catch you off guard and completely ruin the fight. Though tough, Henry does have a few weaknesses you can easily exploit. Henry utilizes a six-strike combo. This will be his most common move and the one that you should take full advantage of. The first five strikes are blockable, but the last one is a charged attack and cannot be blocked - he will jump and spin in the air before landing his katana right through Travis. This move is really the least dangerous of them all. You can darkstep this combo at nearly any point. Unlike Jeane, Henry doesn't dodge your swings, so you can land a healthy number of hits on him using just a single darkstep. This combo is fast, but if you are quick to react when he uses it, you can easily turn it against him. Henry also employs a spinning slash. It's a charged move, so you can not block it. Watch carefully when Henry charges up and quickly dodge back before he executes it. This move isn't particularly damaging and not as dangerous as his other attacks though, so don't worry if you get hit by it a few times. Note that after using it, Henry is vulnerable for a few seconds. Take advantage of this opportunity to land two or three blows. Much like Jeane, Henry has a counter attack. When he appears to be charging up, holding his katana in front of him, DO NOT attack him or you'll suffer a powerful hit back. Instead, take the opportunity to attain a better fighting position or use the time to charge up a charged blow to meet him with when he leaves the counter stance. When Henry moves the hilt of his katana to his neck and charges up, be prepared for a projectile attack consisting of some energy beams (similar to those utilized by the dark beam katana wielders). Avoid these by simply dodging out of the way. This attack has a fairly long downtime after its use. Again, take advantage of the delay to get in a few more hits. One of Henry's more dangerous moves is his dash, which is similar to Jeane's charged attack. He will charge up - after a few seconds, he will come dashing toward Travis with lightning speed. If you fail to get out of the way, you'll suffer a nasty hit. Obviously, dodging out of the way is the way to avoid it, but the key is to time the dodge so that you don't dodge too early or too late. Dodge too early and the dash will come to meet you as you emerge out of the dodge. Dodge too late... and you know what happens. If you're feeling bold, you can actually charge up your katana and hit Henry as he's dashing toward you. If you successfully do it, he will be knocked back, effectively canceling his dash. Lastly, Henry's instant death move, which is very similar to his dash attack, will be used liberally as his health bar slowly depletes. The pre-animation is almost the same as the dash, except Harvey will extend his katana behind him. After a few seconds, he will come dashing toward you. If the move connects, Henry will impale Travis and then throw him up the air to finish with a rather flashy sequence. Side dodges will be your best friend in this instance. Be sure to wait a few seconds before dodging because Henry does delay for a few seconds before executing the attack (in a similar fashion to his dash attack). Avoid this move as if your life depended on it! In order to beat Henry effectively, you'll need to be able to know his attacks and to dodge them efficiently. Once you have that down, you can begin to look for potential openings in Henry's attacks. Understand that nearly all of his attacks has a short downtime at the end of each. Take advantage of these delays and land a few hits before he gets a chance to recover. The dash and "instant death" attacks have particularly long delays (around three seconds long). As stated before, you can actually darkstep his combo attack quite easily. When you do, mash the A Button and try to land as many hits as you can. Should you dizzy him, immediately pull off a suplex for some heavy damage. Although you shouldn't actively try to hit him while he's attacking you, you may occasionally have a weapon clash. Try to win these because the resulting death blow will deal some serious damage to Henry, cutting out a nice chunk of his health bar. Henry has a lot of vitality, but eventually, he will fall at last. Just keep your eye on him and carefully watch his attacks. Getting caught in his instant death attack is a huge downer, especially after you've reduced him to just a sliver of health. All in all, the one thing you want to avoid with your life (because your life counts on it) is that goddamn instant death impaling move. Summary: Hit Henry, but don't get hit back. Wow, what a fight. Enjoy your spectacular ending. But wait, all's not done just yet. Start a new game on Bitter and try to fight your way to the top again. You'll start with all of your old gear and clothes as well. Are you up for it? =============================================================================== --- 6. K-Entertainment Missions --- [5000] =============================================================================== K-Entertainment, an assassin organization disguised as an advertising agency, is a good spot for picking up various assassination missions for good money. The money here is much better than the Job Center, although the tasks are a bit tougher. You are given a ranking at the end of every mission. Unlike Job Center rankings however, assassin mission rankings don't go toward anything except bragging rights. [-----------------------------------------------------------------------------] Gig 1: Pizza Butt ~ =---------------= Requirements: Coconut Collector (bronze ranking) Location: Avalanche Hold St. Time Limit: 1 minute Reward: LB$30000 Chain restaurant Pizza Butt plans to open up in Santa Destroy. To crush their plans, kill Pizza Butt's CEO. Your target is the Pizza Butt CEO, who is at the center of the huge mob ahead of you. Do not be provoked into attacking his henchmen because killing them will only waste time. Try to circle around the guards and approach the CEO. He's armed with a gun, so keep your Z Button pressed down to block any shots he attempts to fire at you. As you get close, the CEO will attempt to run away. Trap him in a corner and just hit him until he goes down. Gig 2: Snake Hall ~ =---------------= Requirements: Coconut Collector (silver ranking) Location: Avalanche Hold St. Time Limit: 3 minutes Reward: LB$2000 per kill Kill until you die. Mission ends when your life runs out. This mission pits you up against a whole mob of goons armed with razors and katanas. One of the enemies will be holding a beam katana. You should able to pinpoint that enemy with ease. As the enemies approach you, charge up your beam katana for a charged slash and release it when the crowd gets close. Then, begin to focus on killing and isolating the enemies that weren't hit by the charged slash. Take caution around the beam katana-wielding enemy. The best way to dispose of him quickly would be to perform a grab on him and then execute a down attack while he's down. Apart from him, you should have minimal trouble killing the remainder of the group. Just keep your guard up when not attacking and you'll be fine. Gig 3: Hooligans Parade ~ =---------------------= Requirements: Lawn Mowing (bronze ranking) Location: Santa Destroy Stadium Time Limit: 2 minutes Reward: LB$3000 per kill Kill using wrestling moves only. No other moves are allowed for this mission. Charged beat attacks are absolutely necessary in this mission. Don't count on stunning anyone with a regular beat attack. The first few enemies will be easy to eliminate because they're mostly by themselves. Quickly run up to them and beat attack them before they can hit you back. Landing just a single grab on these enemies will be enough to do them in. After the eighth kill or so, the enemies will begin to appear in bigger numbers. These can be an issue because the other enemies will interrupt your grab attempts. If possible, lead a few away from the pack and kill them away from the rest of the group. Then, slowly work your way through the remaining enemies until time runs out. Gig 4: Baseball Battle ~ =--------------------= Requirements: Lawn Mowing (silver ranking) Location: Santa Destroy Stadium Time Limit: N/A Reward: LB$4500 per kill Go on a batting killing spree! This gig is ridiculously easy. Remember the little batting battle in Destroy Stadium? Well, this is essentially the same thing. Watch the pitch as it approaches you and swing your Wiimote as fast as you can (similar to Wii Sports baseball if you're familiar with that). If you can successfully knock down every player, the gold ranking is yours. You'll be given three pitches total. Gig 5: Pizza Butt Returns ~ =-----------------------= Requirements: Garbage Collection (bronze ranking) Location: Avalanche Hold Street Time Limit: 1 minute Reward: LB$50000 Chain restaurant Pizza Butt plans to open up in Santa Destroy. To crush their plans, kill Pizza Butt's CEO. This gig does not really differ significantly from the previous Pizza Butt mission. Some of the guards will be wielding guns this time but even so, getting to the target should be fairly easy to accomplish. The key to getting a favorable time is to just make a beeline straight for the target as soon as you start the battle. Do not waste precious seconds engaging the other enemies because they will be sure to tie you up. Once you reach the target, you can simply knock him with a grab or darkstep him to quickly perform a finishing strike on him. Gig 6: Sword Master ~ =-----------------= Requirements: Garbage Collection (silver ranking) Location: Santa Destroy High School Time Limit: 2 minute Reward: LB$4000 per kill Kill as many as you can within the time limit. Mission ends when time runs out. You're up against a fixed number of enemies in this battle. Each is automatically killed with a single strike (leading up to a death blow, of course). Two minutes is plenty of time to eliminate the 15 hooligans in the battle. To ease the process, group the enemies together so you can kill more than one at a time with each death blow. Gig 7: Death Match 100 ~ =--------------------= Requirements: Gas Stand (bronze ranking) Location: Bear Hug Studios Time Limit: 5 minutes Reward: LB$90000 Kill 100 enemies. Mission ends when all targets are dead. Slashfest! All of the enemies will spawn in huge numbers in the beginning of the mission. Each is easily killed with a single slash from your katana, leading up to a death blow immediately. The jumping slash technique is also quite useful because it automatically kills those enemies not equipped with beam katanas. The best way to really go about getting 100 kills is to simply mash the A Button. Enemies will continually respawn in the same spots, so there's no need to do any moving around. There's no point in guarding since all of your enemies go down in a single hit. Near the end of the battle, the enemies will take a bit longer than appear, so keep your eyes peeled. Gig 8: Baseball Battle Round 2 ~ =----------------------------= Requirements: Gas Stand (silver ranking) Location: Santa Destroy Stadium Time Limit: N/A Reward: LB$5500 per kill Go on a batting killing spree. As far as I can tell, this gig is identical to Gig 5: Baseball Battle. The same strategy applies. Just keep your eyes on the ball as it approaches and swing your Wiimote like a baseball bat. You have three chances to knock down all of the enemies. Gig 9: Dark Side Battle ~ =---------------------= Requirements: Gas Stand (silver ranking) Location: Avalanche Hold St. Time Limit: 1.5 minutes Reward: LB$3000 per kill Kill all the enemies within the time limit. Dark Side Mode will be activated. Mission ends when time runs out. This mission has Travis' Cranberry Chocolate Sundae mode already activated. All enemies will be unable to attack you, so just waltz your way up to them and press the indicated button that appears. Hit the correct button for a bloody spectacle of death. Hit the wrong button and Travis won't really do anything. More or less, how well you do in this mission depends on your knowledge of button placement. Gig 10: Tiger Hall ~ =----------------= Requirements: Mine Sweeping (bronze ranking) Location: Body Slam Beach Time Limit: 3 minutes Reward: LB$4000 per kill Kill as many as you can within the time limit. Mission ends when time runs out. The enemies in this battle are spread out, making the process of getting to them a real pain. There are a number of ranged gunners in the pack, along with your standard melee units. The key to getting a good kill count is to focus first on the melee units, and then chase the pistol wielding soldiers, who will just run away from you whenever you get close. Gig 11: Pizza Butt: The Finale ~ =----------------------------= Requirements: Mine Sweeping (silver ranking) Location: Avalanche Hold St. Time Limit: 1 minute Reward: LB$75000 Chain restaurant Pizza Butt plans to open up in Santa Destroy. To crush their plans, kill Pizza Butt's CEO. Don't let the multitude of beam katana wielders fool you. The objective has always been to kill the CEO and ONLY the CEO. Start off by approaching the mob. Most likely, the majority of them will attempt a charged attack. Don't worry if you're knocked down right away. Get back up and quickly and plow through the group toward the target. Provoke an enemy to attack and perform a darkstep to slow time. This will give you an adequate opportunity to pinpoint the CEO and aim your attacks in his general direction. Don't worry if you can't initiate a death blow directly on him. Initiating death blows on an enemy nearby might be able to hit in the process. I would suggest using the Tsubaki Mk-II for its superior death blow range. Gig 12: Pro-Wrestling Contest ~ =---------------------------= Requirements: Graffiti Cleaning (bronze ranking) Location: Body Slam Beach Time Limit: 2.5 minutes Reward: LB$5000 per kill Kill using wrestling moves only. No other moves are allowed for this mission. In order to successfully daze the enemies on the beachead, you'll need to use charged beat attacks. Most of the soldiers are equipped with standard melee weapons, so you can just walk to them and kick them in the face. There are two units with pistols and a submachine gunner near the end of the beach though. These units will be tougher to effectively daze because they'll just run away from you when you get close. Back them up against a wall to force them to stand and fight. One grab will be enough to kill any enemy. Gig 13: Underground ~ =-----------------= Requirements: Graffiti Cleaning (silver ranking) Location: Rounding Body Press Station Time Limit: 2 minutes Reward: LB$5000 per kill Kill as many as you can within the time limit. Mission ends when time runs out. This mission is completely IDENTICAL to the subway segment of the Destroyman fight. The first train starts with one enemy who you'll have to kill. Clear out all of the opposition in one car to move to the next. It's a very straightforward process. Since you are not up against a huge force of enemies, this mission should be quite easy to complete. Note that the last enemy is armed with a beam katana. Gig 14: Baseball Battle Round 3 ~ =-----------------------------= Requirements: Graffiti Cleaning (silver ranking) Location: Santa Destroy Stadium Time Limit: N/A Reward: LB$7000 per kill Go on a batting killing spree. The first guy in the line will pitch the ball to you. Swing the Wiimote as hard as you can and smash the ball through the line of enemies. The ball is slightly tougher to hit than the previous two Baseball Battle Rounds, but with enough power, you'll be able to knock down all of the enemies easily. Gig 15: Extreme Fight ~ =-------------------= Requirements: Meow Meow (bronze ranking) Location: Rounding Body Press Station Time Limit: 2 minutes Reward: It's a secret (actually, it's LB$7000 per kill) Struggle against all odds. Kill all targets. All other details will be a nice surprise. The secret detail in this mission is that you have to kill all enemies, upside down. This fight is similar to the Harvey fight when he inverts the stage on you. Since you're in the subway, moving around isn't much of a problem because you can't really move anywhere. Anyway, just go through the subway cars killing all the enemies that cross your path. It should not be too difficult at all. One last thing, death blows are not inverted. Swing your Wiimote in the direction indicated on-screen regardless of your inverted-ness. Gig 16: Armed Hoods ~ =-----------------= Requirements: Meow Meow (silver ranking) Location: Rounding Body Press Station Time Limit: 2 minutes Reward: LB$7000 per kill Kill as fast as you can. Enemies are armed with live ammo. Mission ends when all targets are dead. It is not really all armed enemies you're fighting here. Some of the goons are still equipped with the same old melee weapons. Regardless, just kill off the enemies with extreme prejudice as always. Dealing with submachine gunners in this mission is not as annoying as it usually is because of the close quarters of the subway train. When you reach the final train, be careful of the three beam katana wielders. Consider using charged attacks to knock all of them back. Then, proceed to perform down attacks on all of them. Gig 17: Speed Jack ~ =----------------= Requirements: Scorpion Extermination (bronze ranking) Location: Rolling Cradle Highway Bus Stop Time Limit: 2 minutes Reward: LB$5500 per kill Kill all the enemies within the time limit. Mission ends when all targets are dead. This assassination mission puts you on a bus reminiscent of the one to Speed City (it even says Speed City on it). The camera angle is pretty bad for this fight, but it's not tough considering all your enemies are in the same cramped space as you. Therefore, it's not recommended that you just mash the A Button (actually, it's never recommended that you just mash any buttons). Rather, actively block and evade to avoid getting knocked around so much. Also, rely on death blows and charged attacks that can affect multiple units at the same time. You should be able to finish with more than a minute remaining on the clock. Gig 18: Gamble Fight ~ =------------------= Requirements: Scorpion Extermination (silver ranking) Location: Gold Town Time Limit: 3 minutes Reward: LB$1500 per kill Kill all the enemies within the time limit. The type of enemy you will fight is a secret. Mission ends when time runs out. There is no set amount of enemies in this mission. Yes, they will keep pouring continually. Kill as many enemies as you can within three minutes. This bloodbath doesn't exactly warrant much strategy. I'll say this though: use attacks that have a wide radius of damage. The Tsubaki Mk-II is recommended just because it has such a wide radius of damage. Gig 19: Single Strike ~ =-------------------= Requirements: Bike Jump (bronze ranking) Location: Body Slam Beach Time Limit: 2 minutes Reward: LB$10000 per kill Kill without taking a single hit from the enemy. A tough mission that requires all your skill. If you are good at free fight missions, this mission should not be much of an issue. All of the spawned enemies wield submachine guns, so it can be a bit rough. A good way to effectively finish this mission with a high success rate, in my opinion, is to use the darkstepping technique. The enemies spawn way too close to each other for most other techniques to be used safely. At the start, move towards the first enemy with your guard. Strafe from left to right to avoid getting caught in the line of fire. When you are fairly close (leave some room because the enemy won't fire otherwise), stand still and wait for the enemy to empty a clip on your katana. Then, quickly perform a darkstep and rip him apart. Repeat this process on the remaining enemies as you move down the beach. If you need to recharge your katana, move back far enough so the enemies don't shoot at you. Alternatively, you can use the jumping slash technique to quickly knock the enemy off his feet and finish with a down attack. When using this strategy, make sure you DO NOT jump slash into an enemy's line of fire for obvious reasons. Gig 20: Batting Killing Centre ~ =----------------------------= Requirements: Bike Jump (silver ranking) Location: Destroy Stadium Basement Time Limit: 2 minutes Reward: LB$3000 per kill Kill all the enemies within the time limit. You'll face cloned humans. The last assassination mission is not tough at all. You're placed in the same batting cage that you originally fought Bad Girl in. Groups and groups of gimps will spawn in the middle. Luckily, they are all grouped together. Attacks that can deal damage to large groups are excellent. =============================================================================== --- 6. Job Center Missions --- [6000] =============================================================================== Job Center missions... I shouldn't even call them missions. These part-time jobs are seemingly insignificant (because they are). It doesn't seem right that a top assassin should have to meet his dues collecting coconuts and mowing lawns. However, these jobs will be necessary to gain the money required for every ranked fight. After completing a job, you will be given one of three rankings: bronze, silver, or gold. A bronze ranking earns you a Part 1 of an assassin mission (most assassin missions come in 2 segments, rarely 3). A silver ranking unlocks Part 2 of an assassin gig at K-Entertainment and a gold ranking unlocks Part 3 of an assassin gig (if applicable) and a Free Fight mission at various points in the city. Don't worry too much about rankings. Getting the gold in Job Centers is usually quite easy. [-----------------------------------------------------------------------------] Coconut Collector ~ =---------------= Requirements: Rank 10 Location: Juice Stand; DDT Juice Time Limit: 3 minutes Reward: LB$2000 for each delivery Collect coconuts. Perform a rolling sobat against a palm tree to make coconuts fall. The employer is a coconut vendor stationed near the shoreline along the west side of Santa Destroy. The task is simple enough: hit the nearby palm trees to knock down coconuts. Anywhere from 1-4 cococuts can fall from each tree at a time. Before you can move on to the next tree, you must pick up the dropped coconuts with the A Button. Return to the vendor with your heavy prizes in tow (keeping in mind that you can mash the A Button to waddle slightly faster). Once you've dropped them off, go ahead and move on to another tree. Oh, and watch your head! Lawn Mowing ~ =---------= Requirements: Rank 9 Location: Within Santa Destroy Time Limit: 2 minutes Reward: LB$300 per for each acre cut Looking for Lawn Mowers. Cut as much as you can inside of the required area within the time limit. First of all, the acre the description is referring to is not a real acre. Rather, it's more like a square foot. Anyway, you're given plenty of time to mow the entire lot. The A Button is forward, B Button is reverse, and the Z Button performs a sharp turn. Tilt the Wiimote in the direction you want to turn. As for the task itself, the most efficient way to get all of the grass would be begin mowing around the outside of the lawn first. Then, slowly work your way in and reach the center. Should you miss any spots, go cut them after getting to the center. Clean up any remaining patches of grass and the gold ranking is yours. Garbage Collection ~ =----------------= Requirements: Rank 8 Location: Spine Buster Ave. Cleaning Facility Time Limit: 3 minutes Reward: LB$1000 per garbage Clean up Santa Destroy. Pick up as much garbage as you can within the time limit. This is a fairly simple job. To pick up garbage, just stand next to a piece of trash and press the A Button. Then, swing the Wiimote up to throw it in your pack. Don't try to run into pieces of garbage on the ground because Travis will just kick them away. Most of the garbage is located fairly close to each other. If you find that you are running long distances without much efficient garbage collecting, then you're doing something wrong. Stick to a general area and stay there. Gas Stand ~ =-------= Requirements: Rank 7 Location: Gas Stand LUCHACA Time Limit: 3 minutes Reward: LB$2000 per car filled up Fill up cars with gas. It really does not get much simpler than this. Use the B Button to fill up a car to its desired capacity. It is okay if you overfill, but if you underfill, then the car won't go towards your total. Also, avoid completely overfilling the meter or else Travis will set himself on fire. Okay okay, it's fine to do that a few times just for laughs. Mine Sweeping ~ =-----------= Requirements: Rank 6 Location: Body Slam Beach Time Limit: 3 minutes Reward: LB$2000 for each mine removed Clean up the mines buried in the beach. A bonus will be paid due to how dangerous the work is. You're armed with your trusty beam katana and a metal detector to locate mines. Walk around until the metal detector starts to beep. Move toward the noise (it's like digging for treasure!) and wait for the button prompt to appear on-screen. When it does, press the A Button to unearth the buried mine. There's no point to pressing the A Button until the prompt comes up, so don't waste your time trying that. Also, avoid stepping on mines (it's kind of funny the first time) because if you blow yourself up too many times, the mission will end. Graffiti Cleaning ~ =---------------= Requirements: Rank 5 Location: Within Santa Destroy Time Limit: 3 minutes Reward: LB$2000 for each removed Erase graffiti from the walls. The dash skill (learned from Lovikov) is absolutely necessary in this mission if you're looking to rank favorably. There are ten tags in all that you need to wipe off the walls. In order to reach all of them in three minutes, you'll need the dash skill. When you are next to a graffiti tag, press the A Button and swing the indicated remote on the screen. After shaking both the Nunchuk and Wiimote, the graffiti will have been wiped off. Run between the yellow dots on the map (signify the graffiti tags) and wipe off every one to complete the task. Meow Meow ~ =-------= Requirements: Rank 4 Location: Within Santa Destroy Time Limit: 3 minutes Reward: LB$3000 for each cat found Capture the escaped cats. use some Foxtail grass to attract the cats' attention! This has got to be the cutest job ever! The little cats (they're so little that I had trouble finding them at first) can be found laying around the area. They're marked on your map. When you approach one, press the A Button and perform the indicated motions on-screen to move the Foxtail grass in front of them. Then, press the indicated button to snag the kitty. To improve your cat-nabbing, consider dashing from cat to cat. Scorpion Extermination ~ =--------------------= Requirements: Rank 3 Location: Atomic Drop Ward Time Limit: 3 minutes Reward: LB$3000 for each scorpion Take care of the poisonous scorpions. Put them into the basket on your back to safely remove them. This is a fairly annoying mission. The scorpions are scattered around the field. They aren't marked on your map, so you'll have to seek them out on your own. The key thing to remember is that the scorpions CAN sting you. If you're new to this job, then you'll probably get stung quite a few times. The scorpions won't actively try to sting Travis, but if his foot touches one, then it's going to be a sting. When that happens, you have 30 seconds to return to the client or else the mission ends. To collect a scorpion, just approach one cautiously (dashing into one will probably get you stung) and hit the A Button as soon as the prompt comes up. Then, just swing your Wiimote up to throw the scorpion in the bag. The scorpions unfortunately are very unpredictable. Also, be careful when picking up scorpions in large groups. Another scorpion can easily come up to Travis and sting him while he's picking up some other one. Bike Jump ~ =-------= Requirements: Rank 2 Location: Iron Claw Point Time Limit: 3 minutes Reward: As stipulated by contest rules Jump your bike off the Point. Try to fly as far as possible. The Bike Jump is a quick and easy job. It basically consists of you jumping the bike off of the ramp at the end of Iron Claw Point. It may take a few tries to fully get the hang of things. First off, you have to go to the client, who is about a few hundred yards away from the actual ramp. Why they placed him so far away is beyond me. Anyway, upon talking to him, get back on the Schpeltiger and follow the line of balls (I have no idea what they are) to the ramp. As for the actual jumping: use the boost when the Schpeltiger is fairly close (not too far away that it runs out before you hit the ramp, obviously) and flick the Wiimote up as soon as the Schpeltiger hits the ramp. The reason you don't want to flick it too late is because there's a momentary delay when the Schpeltiger jumps. If you did it right, you'll sail well over 2000 yards. =============================================================================== --- 7. Free Fight Missions --- [7000] =============================================================================== Free Fight missions are unlocked by acquiring gold rankings in jobs at the Job Center. These are essentially deathmatches pitting you against a huge number of enemies. Free Fights are tough because taking just one hit will fail the mission. For that reason, you can't fight recklessly. Furthermore, failing a Free Fight mission will cause it to disappear for a period of time, preventing you from immediately replaying. Note that since some of the Free Fight missions are basically recycled versions of previous Free Fights, I'll occasionally repeat strategies for similarly positioned enemies. [-----------------------------------------------------------------------------] Free Fight Mission #1 ~ =-------------------= Time Limit: 2 minutes Reward: LB$30000 Wave One: Consists of three regular goons. You have plenty of room to maneuver, so take advantage of the space by isolating each enemy. Kill one and then move on to the next. Rinse and repeat. Wave Two: Consists of three regular goons. Just use the same strategy as you did for wave one. The enemies are fitted with different weapons, but it shouldn't be much of an issue. Wave Three: Consists of six regular goons. This segment relies more on fancy blocking and evading to avoid enemy attacks. Keep your guard up and avoid breaking out into messy combos. Darkstep to slow down time and then slash while the enemies are vulnerable. As always, watch your back and quickly use emergency evade when you're in danger. Free Fight Mission #2 ~ =-------------------= Time Limit: 2 minutes Reward: LB$35000 Wave One: Consists of three regular enemies. If you can successfully darkstep one while the three are grouped together, you could easily kill all three with a single death blow. If not, then it should leave the remaining goons with little health remaining. Wave Two: Consists of five regular enemies. Again, try to group them all together to set them up for a massive death blow. If you're given some time, execute a charged slash. Wave Three: Consists of one regular enemy and one enemy with a beam katana. Focus on quickly darkstepping and killing the regular enemy first. Then, engage the beam katana-wielding goon. He should not be much trouble if you keep your guard up. As always, be wary of his unblockable charged attack and quickly roll away when he uses it. Free Fight Mission #3 ~ =-------------------= Time Limit: 2 minutes Reward: LB$40000 Wave One: Consists of nine regular enemies, all ready to charge at you immediately. This Free Fight Mission is fairly easy because there is only wave of enemies and all of them are grouped together. This means that you need to keep your guard up at ALL TIMES to survive. Start off the battle with a jumping slash or a charged slash to knock a good number of the enemies off their feet. Then just work through the rest of the crowd as you normally would. Use the darkstepping technique to create opportunities to strike. Free Fight Mission #4 ~ =-------------------= Time Limit: 2 minutes Reward: LB$40000 Wave One: The "schoolchildren" start in three groups. The first group is right in front of you when you start. It consists of four melee units. If you have time before they manage to reach you, charge up your katana and unleash a charged attack. If not, then you'll have to wait for an opening to perform a jumping slash attack or something along those lines. Once you finish off the four, turn left and walk to the end of the stone path. There are three melee units here. They shouldn't pose much of a problem. Try to land a jumping slash on the closest enemy to quickly eliminate one threat. Then, deal with the remaining two. Fight cautiously, but don't waste too much time because the final leg of this Free Fight Mission will take up the most time. With those three dead, make your way to the opposite end of the schoolyard, where two beam katanas and two regular melee units await. You'll want to land a jumping slash attack on one of the beam katana wielders and then focus on the other beam katana wielder. Dodge any charge attacks they throw at you and kill them swiftly and efficiently. The remaining two goons are easily dealt with once the beam katana wielders are dead. Free Fight Mission #5 ~ =-------------------= Time Limit: 2 minutes Reward: LB$50000 Wave One: This is a fairly easy Free Fight Mission because all of the enemies are scattered around. This means you won't get overwhelmed. I find that the most efficient way to go around is by circling in a clockwise direction. At the start, one or two enemies will approach you. Take care of both of them and then turn left toward the truck. There's a beam katana wielder here (the only one in the entire Free Fight Mission) who you should eliminate quickly. Watch out for his charge attack, and you should be fine. Turn in behind the truck and kill the enemy hiding there. Then, head toward the middle of the stage, where three enemies are standing. Approach them and try to lure away one or two of them to make things easier. After those three are dead, proceed to the other side. Kill the enemy stationed in front of the truck and then the remaining enemies on the other side of the truck. In the end, you will have killed 12 enemies. Free Fight Mission #6 ~ =-------------------= Time Limit: 2 minutes Reward: LB$50000 Wave One: Consists of three regular goons. Wave Three: This wave is the toughest one. One of the enemies is equipped with a beam katana and the other is equipped with a pistol. The remaining two are your typical melee units. Isolate the beam katana wielder first, and try to kill him quickly with a jumping slash. Be wary of the gunner because he can hit you from a range while you're busy piecing away at another goon. At the end of this free fight, you will have killed ten enemies. Free Fight Mission #7 ~ =-------------------= Time Limit: 3 minutes Reward: LB$60000 Wave One: The first two enemies in front of you make up the first wave. They're equipped with melee weapons. At this juncture in the game, defeat them should be no problem. Wave Two: The second wave will immediately pop up out of the sand as you move down the beach. Unfortunately, you may have provoked them to pop out while still fighting wave one. One has a pistol and the other has a melee weapon. If possible, try to take down the gunner first. If you can't get to him immediately (he will obviously run away), save him for later. Wave Three: Wave three is identical to wave two. Again, watch the one wielding a pistol and avoid getting shot from a distance. This means you'll have to have your guard up always! I can't stress how important guarding is in this situation. Try to kill these two as swiftly as possible before moving on. Wave Four: Again, two enemies will emerge from the sand. One of them has a melee weapon and the other wields a pistol. Use the same strategy as the previous two. Wave Five: This one is the toughest. Two enemies with dark beam katanas will jump up from the sand. Avoid any energy beams they fire off at you and close the distance. Quickly execute a jumping slash on one of them (make sure you do not jump into an enemy blow) and finish with a jumping down attack. Then, work on killing the other. In the end, you will have killed ten enemies. Free Fight Mission #8 ~ =-------------------= Time Limit: 3 minutes Reward: LB$70000 Wave One: I find that the most efficient way to go around is by circling in a clockwise direction. At the start, one or two enemies will approach you. Take care of both of them and then turn left toward the truck. There are a few more enemies here who you should eliminate quickly. Wave Two: Two beam katana wielders will appear near the center of the area. Perform a jumping slash on the first and then execute a down attack. Deal with the last one any way you see fit. Free Fight Mission #9 ~ =-------------------= Time Limit: 3 minutes Reward: LB$80000 Wave One: This free fight is tough. All of the enemies are armed with pistols, making them dangerous yet predictable at the same time. Luckily, they're all scattered around the map in groups. At the very start, approach the group right in front of you with your guard up. Obviously, keeping your guard up anytime you're not attacking is the most important. The enemies will likely shoot at you and run away. Try to move them into the right side of the level first. Simply follow them until they run themselves into a wall. Try to group two or three enemies together. When you do manage to get up close, wait until they stop firing to reload. Then, slash them apart. Alternatively, you can simply darkstep them while they're firing. This method may be more safer should there be any other enemies in the immediate vicinity attempting to shoot you too. The right side of the bus station has six enemies to defeat. When you're finished with them, take the time to recharge your katana's battery. Blocking bullets can take a significant chunk out of the power supply. It's extremely important that you do this while behind the cover of the buses. Then, move to the other side of the bus station and repeat the process. My recommendation is to push them into the little niche at the upper-left. This reduces the room that the thugs have to move. Defeat all ten to finish this free fight mission. Free Fight Mission #10 ~ =--------------------= Time Limit: 3 minutes Reward: LB$90000 Wave One: This free fight mission is almost identical to Free Fight Mission #9. The only difference is that all of the enemies are equipped to submachine guns as opposed to pistols. Still, that does not really make the fight all that more difficult. You'll have to rely more on strafing and dodging. Start off with the right side of the station first. The enemies here are grouped closer together. Strafe and dodge to get to the submachine gunner. When you're up close, wait for him to stop firing and then use a jumping slash to knock him off his feet. The good thing about these types of enemies is that they are usually stationary and oftentimes don't even try to aim the gun at you. Use the jumping slash technique to kill the enemies on the right side. Afterwards, move to the other side and do the same. If you're having trouble with the battery draining on you (from blocking bullets), the Energy Saving upgrade for the Tsubaki Mk-III will prove to be a good investment. =============================================================================== --- 8. Upgrades --- [8000] =============================================================================== There are many opportunities for you to upgrade your stats, beam katanas, and acquire various techniques. Upgrading yourself helps tremendously in the long run against harder enemies and bosses as they come along. --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- 8.1. Exercises [8100] --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- You can "purchase" exercises at the Office of Thunder Dragon. The three different exercises are designed to increase a certain stat, which in turn will render you more powerful and resilient in battle. As you progress through the game, more exercises will become available to you. Note that each succeeding exercise costs more than the previous exercise. Dumbbells ~ =-------= Dumbbell exercises will increase the amount of slashes you can perform in a single combo. To successfully perform this exercise, you must complete 30 repetitions within 30 seconds. Alternate raising your Wiimote and Nunchuk to pull it off. Prices of the exercise will triple with each new one (except for the last Dumbbell exercise, which is LB$40000). Bench Press ~ =---------= This exercise will increase Travis' strength, allowing him to deal more damage per hit. Simply tap the A Button and Travis will gradually raise the bar up until it reaches the peak. Repeat this process, completing 10 presses within one minute. Prices for each successive exercise will be double the amount of the previous exercise (starting at LB$1000). Squats ~ =----= Squats will increase Travis' overall vitality, meaning that you take less damage per hit. Finish 20 repetitions in 30 seconds. Perform a Squat by shaking both the Wiimote and Nunchuk down at the same time. Prices for each successive exercise will be double the amount of the previous exercise (starting at LB$1000). --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- 8.2. Beam Katanas [8200] --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- Tsubaki ~ =-----= Cost: LB$98000 Description: A beam katana created by Naomi. The prototype model. The Tsubaki has a few advantages over the Blood Berry. For one thing, it's noticeably stronger, taking off more health per hit than the Blood Berry could ever hope to achieve. Also, its strike has the potential to make an enemy dizzy, much like a beat attack. Upgrades: + Accelerator (LB$29800) - A sensor that can locate buried treasure when attached to the handle of the beam katana. + Power Up-I (LB$29800) - Exchanges the crystal parts inside the beam katana with purer crystals to greatly increase its output. + Energy Saving-I (LB$29800) - Beam Katana Energy Saving part for Tsubaki. Adds a motherboard to the beam katana itself, increasing energy efficiency. Tsubaki Mk-II ~ =-----------= Cost: LB$148000 Description: A beam katana created by Naomi. Beam emitter and receiver can now operate simultaneously. If you have a knack for death blows, then the Tsubaki Mk-II is for you. It's quite slow (it looks really bulky, doesn't it?), but it makes up for that with power. On most enemies, the Tsubaki Mk-II can kill within four hits. Due to its multiple blades, the death blow can often hit multiple enemies grouped together, making it ideal for clearing out huge mobs. Upgrades: + Power Up-II (LB$49800) - Power Up Parts for Tsubaki Mk-II. Exchanges the crystal parts inside the beam katana with purer crystals to greatly increase its output. + Energy Saving-II (LB$49800) - Beam Katana Energy Saving part for Tsubaki Mk-II. Adds a motherboard to the beam katana itself, increasing energy efficiency. Tsubaki Mk-III =------------= Cost: LB$498000 Description: A beam katana created by Naomi. The finished model. The Tsubaki Mk-III is the most expensive out of all the katanas. It's definitely well worth the cost. The Tsubaki Mk-III is flashy and the swings and blows are stylishly executed. The death blows on this thing are amazing, oftentimes killing all enemies in the immediate vicinity even if they're not directly hit by the katana in the process. The low charge attack is absolutely devastating against groups of enemies. It can decimate even the biggest of mobs easily. With the purchase of the Energy Saving upgrade (expensive as it is), you will no longer have to worry about charging the battery. Upgrades: + Power Up-III (LB$99800) - Power Up Parts for Tsubaki Mk-III. Exchanges the crystal parts inside the beam katana with purer crystals to greatly increase its output. + Energy Saving-III (LB$999999) - Beam Katana Energy Saving part for Tsubaki Mk-III. Set this into the heart of the motherboard inside the Beam Katana, and it will never have to be recharged again. --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- 8.3. Lovikov's Techniques [8300] --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+- Lovikov, a Russian drunk at the Gold Town bar, offers to teach you seven different techniques if you can bring him Lovikov Balls. Collecting seven allows you learn one technique. In order to learn them all, you must get all 49 Lovikov Balls, which can be found strewn throughout the town of Santa Destroy. For locations, consult the "Lovikov Ball Locations" section. After talking to Lovikov for the first time, all Lovikov Balls will be marked with an orange dot on your mini-map. The techniques are as follows: Memory of Three: Displays the position of enemies on the mini-map. - It's exactly as its descriptions says. No More Heroes is not really a tactical game though, so the overall usefulness of this technique is questionable. Still, it's a worthy advantage to have. Memory of Demon: Allows a "jumping slash" to be performed by shaking the Nunchuk. - A jumping slash, which can be performed by shaking the Nunchuk, is a devastating attack that can hit from long ranges. It's unblockable, making it very useful against regular enemies (especially in those Free Fight missions). Memory of Child: Allows a "dash" to be performed by pressing the B Button. - This technique has uses outside of battle. By pressing the B Button, Travis can dash around until his stamina gauge runs out. Memory of Woman: Extends Dark Side Mode time limit. - This technique is self-explanatory. All dark side modes will have a longer time limit, giving you more time to kill, kill, and kill! Memory of Mask: Increase the range of your "grab". - The Memory of Mask gives Travis a slightly longer reach when he attempts to grab dazed foes. If you have an affinity for suplexing enemies to death, learn this technique as early as you can. Memory of Tattoo: Earn bonuses based on your rank. - When this technique is active, a "Max Chain" bonus will be awarded to you at the end of every rankings fight. The payout depends on your efficiency in battle. Memory of White: Allows a "jumping down attack" to be performed. - A jumping down attack is essentially a ranged down attack. If an enemy is too far away for a regular down attack, you can hit the A Button to jump and close the gap. =============================================================================== --- 9.
