You can access the DLC through the Downloadable content option in the main menu and selecting the Abyssal Forge campaign option. this guide will walk you through the new dungeon and the included optional side-area. Let us begin... =============================================================================== Part 1 - The Dread MIre [ABY01] =============================================================================== >> The Dread Mire << After arriving in the Dread Mire upon loading up the DLC, head forward and towards the building to the right in the distance. You’ll note that the gate is locked, so continue around the corner to the left. Wall run across to the platform across the water and step on the pressure plate. This will unlock a gate up on the wall above, use soul splitter and have the first copy climb up the wall to the opening. Drop down inside, turn right and pull the lever here to open the gate. Exit soul splitter and backtrack to the now open gate. Enter and continue through the hallway and into the door at the end to enter Iron Glade. >> Iron Glade << Cross the bridge in front and note the pressure plate in the centre of the area. From this look back towards the bridge and you’ll see a handhold to the left. Climb up here and enter soul splitter at the top. Have the first clone jump down and stand on the pressure plate, have the second clone enter the now open door to the right. Follow it to the end and use the lever on the left to open the nearby gate – note that another door will open directly behind the switch with a second pressure plate in it. Exit soulsplitter and return to the main room, have Death stand on the pressure plate in the centre and enter soulsplitter. Have clone one climb up to the area with the switch and step on the pressure plate opposite. Have clone two enter the now open gate on the south of the room. Grab the ball from in here and return it to the main room. Stick it in the socket here and then continue across the bridge that appears and enter the door at the end for a short story scene. ------------------- Boss: The Mad Smith ------------------- Moves: > Double slam - A short range two swing melee attack. > Hammer swipe - a swipe out in front with his hammer, has a slightly larger damage radius than the slam moves > Triple slam - He'll slamm the ground three times with his hammer. In addition to causing damage if it hits you, this move will also shoot out an energy wave in front. Strategy: > This fight plays out very much like the fight against Thane during the > side-quest 'The Maker Warrior'. He is slow and uses the same small set of > moves to attack. He is predictable and easy to avoid. It should be noted that > when he does his triple attack move, it will fire out a shockwave infront of > it which will damage you however with a dodge to the side, there's no real > risk of death or injury! Just wait for him to attack, dodge out of his way > and then head in to slash him up a few times before he resumes attacking > again. After the fight, the Mad Smith will give you a task. You’ll now have to go and farm up some chaos ore in order to progress further into the DLC. =============================================================================== Part 2 - The Mad Smith [ABY02] =============================================================================== >> Iron Glade << Enter the door at the east of the room. Kill the stingers and you should see a glowing red crystal in the death fluid in front of you. This is the chaos ore. Make your way up the stairs to the Northwest corner of the room. You’ll find a bomb plant here. Grab this and toss it down onto the red crystal, shoot it to obtain the first piece of ore (1/7). Return to where we entered the room and climb the stairs to the left, follow the platform all the way around until you reach the chest. Drop back down to the room below and enter the room to the left. As you enter, a platform will rise in the centre of the room and spit out some forge crawlers – these are essentially the same as scarabs and shouldn’t trouble you too much. At the far end of the room you’ll see a pressure plate in front of a locked gate, flanking this are two sets of stairs also leading to locked gates. Have the first clone climb down the stairs to the right and step on the pressure plate. This will open an underwater gate. Have clone number two go down the stairs to the left, hop in the pool and swim through the open gate. Go through the tunnel and surface on the other side. Use wall jumping to get out of the hole and then pull the switch nearby to open the gate. Exit Soulsplitter. Enter the now open area ahead. As you enter, drop down the hole in front and swim under the grating to the left and swim to the end for a chest. Return up to the main floor of the room, climb the stairs to the right for a chest and then look to the left of the entrance. You’ll see stairs to the left at the top of these there is a locked skull door that we can’t open yet so make your way across the walkways to the door directly to the south. Enter and inside you will be attacked by a set of three forge sentinels – like the sentinels in the main game, these guys can resurrect constructs. Once they are dead, explore the West side of the room for a chest and another chaos ore (2/7). Return to the previous room. Return to the skull door and follow the path in front of it all the way to the east and down the stairs to the next unlocked door. Here we’ll see a pressure plate in front of a blocked ramp with a ball on it. Enter soulsplitter on the pressure pad for and have Death’s first copy to climb the wall to the left. Shimmy to the left and drop down behind the fence, follow the path here back towards the door to find a chest. Return to the wall and climb up, follow the passage and just before the third handhold, drop down into the room to the right. Wall run up and grab the switch on the wall. Have clone 2 grab the blue ball and punch it up the ramp. Exit soulsplitter and climb up the wall to the left, follow the passage all the way to the end until you reach a courtyard at the top of the area. Kill the enemies here and then find the top of the ramp. Step on the pressure plate here and use soulsplitter, have your first clone backtrack down the side passage and use the hanging switch on the wall. Get clone 2 to run down the ramp, grab the blue ball and shunt it up to the very top of the ramp. Exit soul splitter mode. Grab the ball and stick it in the socket nearby. Enter the now open gate; climb down the stairs to the right. At the foot of the stairs you’ll find another chaos ore (3/7). Climb back up the stairs and turn right. Follow the pathway here and enter the door at the end. Here you’ll have to fight off a group of forge guardians and then a forge champion afterwards. Upon killing them, the door nearby will unlock and you will also be able to duck into the alcove for a chest containing a skeleton key. Exit the northern door to end up back in the room with the skull door. Head over and open it up! Follow the passageway until it opens into a room. Kill the stingers and crawlers in the area and then head down the ramp for the chaos ore(4/7) crystal here. Exit to the north. Pull the lever here to raise a bridge back to the Smith. Re-enter the room to the west and this time work your way over the platforms to the north. Enter the door to the left. Climb down the stairs into the large square room. Inside you will have to face off against a single forge hunter (these are essentially a re-skinned version of the stalkers from the main game) and then a pair of them. After they die, a piece of wall will flip around. Wall run up this and then deathgrip across to the floor above. Smash the chaos crystal (5/7) here and then look to the west and find the pipe bridging the room that is leading into a crack in the wall on the far side. Follow this inside for a chest. Drop down and return up the stairs to the previous room. Head straight ahead and enter the door to the left. Stand on the pressure plate in the centre of the room and enter soul splitter. Have clone 1 drop down the pole opposite where we came in. Sit the clone on the pressure plate here. Have clone 2 enter the open gate to the left and then through the second gate opposite on the floor below. In the lower room you’ll find a chaos crystal (6/7) to the left and a ball. Grab the blue ball and punch it back up the chute. Switch to clone 1 and have him punch the ball up the next chute. Exit soul splitter. Stick the ball in the socket. Enter the now open door and follow the pathway all the way to the end and enter the door there. After killing off the swarm of guardians inside grab the bomb plant to the left and toss it onto the red crystal in the death fluid for chaos crystal (7/7). Return to the previous room and take the door on the left for a shortcut back to the Mad Smith. For returning all 7 pieces of chaos ore, you’ll earn a new talisman – the Mad Smith’s Device. This will enable us to cross the death fluid we’ve been seeing all over the place. Immediately return to the room where we earned the last chaos ore. We can now run across to the platform behind this for three chests. Return to the Mad Smith. =============================================================================== Part 3 - The Abyssal Forge [ABY03] =============================================================================== >> Iron Glade << Head out the door on the West side of the room. Inside, follow the passage straight ahead and into the water. Continue to the east, killing any enemies that get in your way until you reach the next large room – we’re back in the Dread Mire. >> The Dread Mire << There are two buildings in this area containing doors to additional areas at the South and at the far West. The west door has a boss fight in it, so let’s check out the south first. Inside, you’ll see a treasure chest across a gap in front. Step on the pressure plate here and use soul splitter. Have the first clone run over and jump on the hanging switch on the wall to the right. With clone 2 use the newly uncovered deathgrip ring to wall run across to the hand hold near the far end of the room. Sit here for the moment. Switch back to clone 1 and drop off the switch. This will cause the handhold clone 2 is hanging on to flip around.Drop down and follow the passage to the end to find the chest. Use the lever behind it to open the door here. Exit soul splitter and use the hallway to the right to access the platform with the chest. Behind it, you’ll find an alcove. Inside there are handholds we can use to climb to a room above. In this area there are two chests. Drop down at the end and return back outside. Now that we’ve done the South, let’s make our way over to the west for that boss fight. Before entering the door, open the chest to the left. Afterwards, enter the building. Inside you will find the Abyssal Forge. ----------------------- Boss: The Abyssal Forge ----------------------- Moves: > Homing fireball - The boss will release a slow moving fireball that will follow Death around for a short period of time. Avoid! > Slam shockwave - The boss will slam the ground, sending out a shockwave of lava across the entire arena. You'll need to dodge at the right time to avoid this. > Summon crawlers - After sustaining a bit of damage, the boss will raise platforms containing crawlers to come and attack you. > Geysers - towards the end of the fight, geysers of laval will pop up from the floor in random locations. You will want to avoid these, so watch your step. Strategy: > The Abyssal forge is a stationary boss, similar to the Wailing Host in the > City of the Dead or Straga from the original Darksiders. So you're going to > have to choose your moments to attack. > > After launching a number of fireballs, the boss will often slump over with > his head near the platform for a short period of time. At this point, get > Death to get up close and wail on him. If you can cause enough damage, he > will pull back very quickly into an upright stun with his core exposed. use > deathgrip to grab this down to the platform and smash it up until he has had > enough and resumes attacking. For the remainder of the fight, continue the > same pattern, but in addition to the fireballs, you'll have to contend with > his expanded repertoire of moves, however the majority of these are easily > avoided. Once you have damaged him enough, the fight will end. After killing the forge, return to the Mad Smith to complete the story portion of the DLC. For completing this quest you’ll earn some XP, some gold and a legendary weapon – Abyssal forge Hammer in the mail from Vulgrim. We are not done yet though as there is another small dungeon packed with loot that we can still go and check out! Return to where we first entered the realm at the start of the DLC. At the very north of this area is a door across a pit of death fluid we could not access earlier. Enter the door here to enter Shadow Helm. =============================================================================== Part 4 - Shadow Helm [ABY03] =============================================================================== >> Shadow Helm << As you enter note the skeleton key door opposite and the socket on the floor. Now climb the stairs. At the end of the northern balcony there is a hanging switch. Enter soul splitter and have clone 1 activate the switch. This will open the door on the southern balcony. Drop down the hole inside and follow the pathway at the end, climb the wall. In the room at the top, pull the ball over so that it is next to the pressure plate and facing the locked circular passage to the south. Stand on the pressure plate to lower the gate and punch the ball down the hole. Exit soul splitter and cruise on open to the now open door. As you enter, look around behind the stairs you came in from to find a chest. Then make your way to the south of the room. When you reach the gap, look up to your left to see a stone block we can wall run up to, do so and use deathgrip at the end to jump up to top of the structure in the centre of the room. From here enter soulsplitter mode. With clone 1, look to the west and deathgrip over to the hanging switch below. This will flip around a section of wall and uncover a new deathgrip hook. With clone 2, jump down to the same switch and from here wall run to the right and make your way all the way around the room using the blocks and death grip rings until you reach a platform. Step on the pressure plate here to release a blue ball. Exit soul splitter and then re-enter. As with the last bit, get both clones back over to the hanging switch. This time have one wall run over to the left until he reaches the handhold here. Now have the second clone wallrun to the handhold to the right. Switch back to the first clone and use the deathdrip rings and wall blocks to continue to the left and make your way over to the platform at the end. Rotate the lever here so that the bridge moves 90 degrees. Leave the clone holding the switch and change back to the second clone, have him work his way down to the ball and push it across the bridge into the socket. Grab the skeleton key from the chest inside the room that opens. Exit soulsplitter and look off of the central platform to find a pipe, drop down into this for a chest and then return to the previous room. Open the skeleton key door and follow the passage indie to the circular room at the end. As you enter, a gate will drop and you’ll have to fight of a group of forge guardians. Once they are all dead, you can loot the chest. With that final challenge you are done, congratulations you’ve completed and found all the treasure in the Abyssal Forge DLC! =============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ******************* *********************** *** Contact *** [CNTCT] *********************** ******************* If you feel the need to contact me you can reach me at sokkus[at]hotmail[dot]com Please include "Darksiders 2 Guide" in the subject line. =============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ********************* ************************* *** About Me *** [INTRD] ************************* ********************* =============================================================================== Me =============================================================================== Im 26, Australian and live with my lovely fiancee.
