Although I make these guides for free in my spare time, I probably don’t need to point out to gamers that purchasing games is an expensive hobby and writing guides for them can be a long, difficult and thankless task at times, but one that I find challanging and enjoyable (when I have enough free time to get the chance to do one!). By no means feel obligated to donate just for viewing my guide, but if you are feeling a little generous I certainly won’t object! Any amount is appreciated whether it be 10 cents or $10 & All funds go to purchasing new games to create new guides, and honestly, who wouldn't want those? Heres the stuff you need! You can access the DLC through the Downloadable content option in the main menu and selecting the Argul's Tomb campaign option. this guide will walk you through the two new dungeons and the included optional side-quest. Let us begin... =============================================================================== Part 1 - Frostbone Crypt [ART01] =============================================================================== >>The Pinnacle<< Once you’ve loaded up the DLC and entered the game, you’ll find yourself in an icy citadel reminiscent of the prologue. Let’s get started. Move forward across the bridge and continue to the right. Move forward to see a short scene in which Ostegoth will outline what you’ll be in for the rest of the DLC. After the chat, you can use the serpent tome here if you wish. When you are ready to proceed, continue past Ostegoth to the south and enter the unlocked door. >>Frostbone Crypt<< As you enter, you’ll see an inactive laser statue and locked skull door behind it opposite the entry point. Ignore these for now and head around the corner to the right. You’ll see a voidwalker pad on the wall above a raised gate in front. Ignore this for now and then continue through the unlocked door on the left. Climb the stairs and kill the mummys here. Look down the passage to the left opposite the door in the first small room to note the presence of a second voidwalker pad (we’ll come back for this later). Again, ignore this and then continue down the stairs opposite the entry. In this room, look in the alcove to the left of the yellow crystals and activate the portal pad here. Continue past the crystals until you reach a dead end and activate the voidwalker pad you can see across the gap. Return to the first portal you activated and use deathgrip to climb through to the other side. Climb a short way down the broken stairs here and look to the left. Across the gap you’ll see another portal pad. Fire a charged up portal onto this and then retreat back up the stairs and re-enter the portal. After landing on the next platform, look up and to the right to see a chest on a higher platform, shoot the portal pad up here and wallrun through the portal we just entered to land above. Grab the chest and return to the lower platform. As you do, immediately turn around and look above the portal you just emerged from to see another pad through a hole near the roof. Activate this. Grab the bomb plant nearby and throw it through the closest portal. It will drop down into the previous room and remove those yellow crystals we spotted earlier. Wallrun through the portal afterwards and you’ll drop down to where the crystals were located. Enter the newly opened passage here. Use the handholds on the wall to navigate the winding corridor and exit into the circular room at the end. After a short scene you will have to kill an ice lich and a few ice skeletons and champions. Once they are all dead, continue through the next door and open the chest for a skeleton key. Pull the lever nearby to open the gate in front. We are back in the first room! Head over and unlock the skull door and cruise through to the next room. Kill the shiver spawn here and when you reach the large pit, look on the wall behind and to the right of Death for a portal pad. Shoot this and then look across the gap to the south east for a second. Enter the first to access the platform here. Follow the passageway around the corner until you reach the cliff, look on the wall to the left on the other side to see another portal pad. Shoot this and then run back around the corner and re-enter the portal here. On the other side, wallrun up to the ledge and climb up. Shoot the portal pad in the alcove here and then look back across the gap to see a second portal pad near the roof. Activate this with a charged portal and then enter the first portal nearby. Use the hanging poles to jump across the top of the area and access the ledge on the south side of the room. Follow the passage around the corner and at the end, look down to the right to see yet another portal pad (wow there are a lot of these aren’t there!). Activate this with a charged up portal and return to the previous room and drop down to the portal below and enter it. Hop across the beams and then follow the passage until you enter a large square room. Defend yourself against a sizable group of champions and ice skeletons before exiting the now accessible door to the east. Shoot the portal pad that you see in front and then turn down the passage to the right. Fire a second portal across at the voidwalker pad opposite and then grab the lantern and enter the nearby portal. Return to the lantern statue and give it the lantern. You’ll notice that it will now become active and that its beam is hitting the portal pad we ignored earlier. Activate this now and climb up the stairs to the left of it. Open the door here and at the top of the stairs look down the hallway to the left to see the other pad we ignored earlier. Activate this to have the laser activate the receptacle above the door to opposite to unlock it. Cruise on through. When you reach the large room, ascend the stirs to the right and at the top you can explore along the balcony to the west for a chest. From here, look to the south and you’ll spy a voidwalker pad in a door frame on the opposite balcony. Activate this and return to the top of the stairs. Look at the eastern most wall of the room for a second portal pad. Activate this and step through, check out the other doorway on the balcony here for another chest. Now drop down into the room below for a boss fight. --------------------- Boss: Frostbone Titan --------------------- The Frostbone Titan acts a lot like one of the tormentor enemies that we encountered throughout the main campaign. It is big, slow moving and fairly easy to take down. It also has a similar move set. Moves: > Axe toss – The boss will hurl his twobladed axe at you, which will spin around in circles and return to him like a boomerang. > Reverse slash - If you hit him in the back he will, swing his weapon back behind him as he turns. He will often do this move when recovering. > Hack - Get close enough and the boss will swing at you with his big ass axe > Ice explosion - The boss will explode ice outwards in a semicircular area in front of him, you'll want to avoid this. > Triple slam - The Frostbone Titan will slam his sickle into the ground three times. > Summon - see all those frozen skeletons around the area? They will all progressively thaw out during the encounter and you will need to defeat them all before taking the boss down. Strategy: > This fight plays out like any of the other fights you have undertaken against > the tormentors in the main game with a couple of small changes. This guy has > an ice explosion that can freeze you solid instead of a projectile vomit move > like a standard tormentor and he will also throw his axe at you from quite a > range. The other big difference is the frozen skeletons scattered around the > room. As you damage the boss, these guys will progressively thaw out and come > to attack you. The fight itself however is quite easy, simply avoid his > attacks, kill the skeletons and damage the big guy when it is safe to do so > and he'll be pushing up daisies in no time. For killing him, you will be able to pick up the Spire key. Before stepping into the portal to return to Ostegoth, check out the room to the southwest for a chest. When you are ready, return to the portal and exit the dungeon. =============================================================================== Part 2 - Strange Cave (Optional) [ART02] =============================================================================== >>The Pinacle<< Sell any junk you have to Ostegoth and then continue to the north. If you go slightly up the path to the north, you can check out the small area to the right here for a new side-quest – ‘Strange Cave’. This quest is entirely optional, but will take all of 10-15 minutes to complete, so let’s knock it over now. >>Strange Cave<< Drop down into the cave below. Grab the chest opposite and then make your way north. Pick up the weapon on the ground – gorehammer and then climb the ramp. Using the grenade launcher, clear out the ice skeletons here and work your way around the corner to the right. Follow the passage along and up the ramp. At the top, kill the skeletons and the ice stalker that appear. Afterwards, continue forward, destroying the ice skeleton champions, stalkers and prowlers as they appear. Around the next corner, you will find another gorehammer, so if you neglected to pick it up the first time, now might be a good opportunity to do so. Clear the room of prowlers and skeletons. As you approach the far end, another group of prowlers and a stalker will spawn, so destroy them before again heading up the nearby ramp. At the top, fight off the enemies directly in front before entering. Once inside turn to the left and move forward slightly to see a couple of stalkers and prowlers spawn in the distance. Use your gorehammer to take them down before they get close enough to do too much damage. Clear out any remaining enemies, and watch for additional champions and prowlers that drop down from the ledge on the right and when it’s all clear, check the alcove in the north of the room for a pair of chests. Continue down the ramp to the south, killing all the champions and prowlers here. Follow the passage all the way to the end until you reach a large open room. In this fairly large room you will have to fight off a ridiculous number of enemies, so make sure you keep a grenade launcher on you at all times - there are a couple lying around the area if you need one. During the fight you will need to fight off a total of 5 ice giants and around 50-60 ice skeletons. The trick to this room is to cut giant laps around the room using the grenade launcher to smash the baddies that chase you around. It shouldn't take too long and is easy enough. After killing everything, a scene will play showing a new chest spawning. Open that and then step into the blue portal on the ground to return to Osetgoth. =============================================================================== Part 3 - The Frigid Spire [ART03] =============================================================================== >>The Pinnacle<< When you are ready to proceed, continue through the door that will open for you at the very end of the path to the north to enter the second dungeon - the frigid Spire. >>The Frigid Spire<< As you enter, continue to the end of the hallway and climb the spiral stairs here. At the top you’ll find a pair of voidwalker pads. Place a portal on the farthest pad and then activate the one closest to you. Look through this and you should be able to make out another portal on the other side, activate this and then step through to land on the far platform. Enter the door to the right. Here we’ll find another room with an inactive lantern statue. Ignore the passage to the east and continue through the unlocked door on the north side of the room. Kill the ice prowlers and champion in the hallway here and look into the room to the north to find a portal pad across a gap. Activate this and then return to the hallway. Follow this to the east and shoot a charged portal onto the portal pad on the floor across the gap in front and then hop over and into it. Kill the bad guys that attack you after entering the portal and then return back through the portal to be launched up into the air. Whilst in mid-air use deathgrip to grab the ring above to pull Death across the gap to the platform above. Kill the ice skeletons here and note the locked skull door at the far end of the hallway to the north. There’s nowhere else to go for the moment, so cruise down the stairs to the south and enter the door at the bottom. Follow the passage around the corner, ignoring the passage to the west for now. Check out the first small room to the right to find a chest and then step on the pressure plate on the floor. This will open several gates in front. Once they are open, activate the voidwalker pad at the far end of the hallway behind the now open gates. Enter the room to the left. Killing the ice stalker and champions in here will unlock the nearby grate, allowing you to activate the portal pad on the wall here. Do so and then jump through to the next area. Enter the door to the right and as you enter, look to the left. You’ll see a pair of portal pads here. Fire off a charged portal at the far side of the room and at the one closest to you, before heading down the stairs and using deathgrip to run up into the portal here. You should exit out onto a hanging pole. Lean back and jump back through the portal you came from and the charged portal should propel you onto a higher platform. Continue until you reach a long rectangular room. Inside a scene will play and you’ll have to kill a frost weaver. In addition a good number of (8-10) ice skeletons will jump through the windows on the left. Once they are all dealt with, the door on the southern side of the room will open. Head on through and drop down to the room below. Here you’ll notice a movable block in the centre of the area and a pair of portal pads on the floor flanking it. Place charged portals on both pads on the floor and then push the crate into one of them which will cause the block to start bouncing up and down on either side of the room. Make your way to the western side of the area and climb up to the ledge above using the handholds. Stand facing the centre of the room and when the box pops up from the portal closest to you, use deathgrip to pull it across to you. Grab the crate and push it into the wall on the northern side of the area, jump up on top of it and wall run up from here to grab the handholds above. Drop down onto the upper ledge and throw the switch. This will open the gates below. Drop down and you’ll see a lantern in the alcove to the west. Ignore this for now and grab the nearby box we just used to get up to the switch. Push the block into the hallway and drag it all the way to the north. When you reach the corner, take it to the right and plant it against the wall here below the portal pad. Return back down the passage and grab the lantern. Take it to where we left the box and drop it nearby. Climb on top of the box and activate the portal here and look above the blocked doorway to the east to see another portal pad above, activate this, then deathgrip the lantern up to you and jump through the portal. Drop down into the previous room and head over to the passage to the west that I told you to ignore earlier. Place the lantern on the pressure plate here to have the gate in front open. Run over to the opposite side of the now open gate and use deathgrip to pull the lantern over to you. Climb the stairs and give it to the statue here. Once the statue has been activated, look where the green laser is firing, out the window here to the left you’ll see a portal pad. Activate this. Now rotate the statue twice, so it is facing the stairs we just ascended. The beam will now be hitting another voidwalker pad. Activate this to have the laser unlock a door. Make your way over to and enter the now unlocked door and wall run back and forth between the walls to cross the gap. Open the chest to the left and then enter the main room here, none of the crystallised skeletons here will attack just yet, so head over to the north side of the room and open the chest here for a skeleton key. Return to the main room to fight the frozen baddies. Once they have been dealt with, a pair of ice stalkers will attack, so kill them to unlock the gates. Continue up the stairs to the east and pull the lever at the top to open the gate. Head to the left and use the skeleton key on the door. Move forward a little for a scene and a boss fight. --------------- Boss: Frostbane --------------- Frostbane provides a quite cool boss encounter. He is a dragon and as such, will perform a number of ground based and aerial attacks to keep you on your toes throughout the fight. Moves: > Swipe - If you get too close, he will swipe at you in front. > Charge - He will run around at ground level and charge at you and do a couple of swings at you if you are unlucky. > Ice shower – He will fly into the sky and rain down icy projectiles onto you blue circles will light up on the ground when this happens, so simply avoid them in order to avoid damage. > Ground slam - he will climb up very, very high and dive bomb you when you see this coming you will need to dodge 2-3 times to get as far as you can from the point of impact or the blast as he hits will freeze you solid. Strategy: > Frostbane will alternate between attacking from the ground and taking to the > air. When he is grounded, this is your time to deal damage to him. He has a > few attacks based around various swipes and will run around the arena trying > to charge or get a cheap shot or two in on you so the strategy here is to > attack him when its safe to do so. After he has taken abit of damage, he > will pull back to a corner and lift off the ground and fire ice shards at > you, at this point you cannot damage him, so focus on dodging the icicles as > they fall - these will be highlighted by the big blue circles that appear on > the ground. Afterwards he willclimb upo very very high and dive bomb you - > when you see this coming you will need to dodge 2-3 times to get as far as > you can from the point of impact or the blast as he hits will freeze you > solid. Afterwards, repeat the process of damage dealing on the ground and > avoiding attacks from the air, after 3-5 cycles of this, the boss should > have taken more than enough damage to hit the dust. Return to Ostegoth, after a short scene you will get a message indicating he has sent you an item. Check the nearby serpent tome to see he has sent you a legendary secondary weapon – Frostforge Twins. Huzzah! Oh, you’ve also reached the end of the DLC, congratulations! =============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ******************* *********************** *** Contact *** [CNTCT] *********************** ******************* If you feel the need to contact me you can reach me at sokkus[at]hotmail[dot]com.
