\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ ================================+ 1:.............Controls | ================================+ I find that the controls on Battlefront II are best when the Y Axis is left inverted, so that holding Up will make the Reticle point down, and pulling down will make the Reticle look up. Following is a list of the default controls that have been selected for you. At any time during a game you may change the controls to suit your liking. You may even change the X and Y Axis, but why anyone would want to go left when the point the Analogue Stick right is beyond my capacity. By the way, L3 and R3 are just shortened versions of the Analogue Stick being clicked down. That's what they're called on PS2, so I will use them here. 1.1:............Infantry Controls ================================= BUTTON ACTION ___________________ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ ================================+ 2:.............Units | ================================+ The Units have have a bit of a refurbishment. Their handling is better, I find, and their movement graphics have been made more realistic. In Battlefront I, the rolling was shonky and it was only one direction. I think its great how they made the Droideka easier to destroy, I found that it was a Pain in the Ass to Beat, and a Pain in the Ass to be. So either way I hated it in the old game. 2.1:............Confederacy of Independant Systems ================================================== The Confederacy of Independant Systems (CIS for short) is a Seperatist Faction lead by the charismatic and nostalgic Fallen Jedi Count Dooku. Unbeknown to the Jedi, Count Dooku fell under the alliegance of Darth Sidious, who master minded the whole Clone Wars. His alias became Darth Tyrannus, and recruited a man named Jango Fett to be the host of the Clone Army on Kamino. Eventually they came to their final halt when Lord Vader tracked them to Mustafar and destroyed the Seperatist Leaders. During the Clone Wars they wield the largest and widest range of units and vehicles. Yet they lack imagination, making them mindless drones incapable of delivering moral judgement and mercy. For citizens, they were dubbed the Cold Hearted Killers, a two way statement. Still, cheap to manufacture and deadly in numbers, the Droid Army was a sight to see on the battlefield for sure. 2.1 A:...........Super Battle Droid ========================+=======================================+ Faction: | CIS | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Size: | Large | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Class: | Standard Soldier | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Primary Weapons: | Wrist Blaster, Tri-shot | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Secondary Weapons: | Wrist Rocket | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Ammo: | 250, 50 per Round | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Speed: | @@@@@----- | Armor: | @@@@@@---- | Range: | @@@@@----- | Damage: | @@@@@@---- | ========================+=======================================+ Description: | The Super Battle Droids are clearly the greatest | Standard Soldiers out of them all, with a fast firing Wrist | Blaster, a heavy Wrist Rocket and a cluster Tri Shot Weapon | to go with them. | | Alternatively, the Super Battle Droid has Heavy Armor (anyone | ever played Republic Commando? They are tough!) and good | overall stats. Definetly my pick from the CIS for brunt | missions. | ========================+=======================================+ 2.1 B:...........Assault Droid ========================+=======================================+ Faction: | CIS | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Size: | Medium | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Class: | Heavy Soldier | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Primary Weapons: | Rocket Launcher, Pistol | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Secondary Weapons: | Thermal Detonator, Proximity Mines | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Ammo Primary: | 4, 1 per Round | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Speed: | @@@@------ | Armor: | @@@@------ | Range: | @@@@@@---- | Damage: | @@@@@@@--- (Vehicles Only) | ========================+=======================================+ Description: | The Assault Droid (Typically a Rocket Droid) is the Anti | Vehicle Soldier of the pack. Wielding a Single Burst Rocket | Launcher, move them into strategic places (usually near a Power | Droid but near an Expressway for traffic) and fire away. Power | Droids are essential with these as you only have a limited | supply. Some Factions allow you to lock on to a Target and the | missiles will guide themselves in. | ========================+=======================================+ 2.1 C:...........Assassin Droid ========================+=======================================+ Faction: | CIS | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Size: | Medium | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Class: | Sniper Soldier | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Primary Weapons: | Sniper Rifle, Pistol | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Secondary Weapons: | Thermal Detonator, Autoturret | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Ammo: | 56, 8 per Round | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Speed: | @@@@@----- | Armor: | @@@@------ | Range: | @@@@@@@@@- | Damage: | @@@@@@@@-- | ========================+=======================================+ Description: | The Assassin Droid is a long range Sharpshooter Class, and has | the unique ability to Zoom extremely long distances and pick | off targets from very far away. Place Snipers at "vantage | points", usually high up and far away from action, so they can | have the best unobstructed view and widest range of targets. | | The maps I found were best for Snipers were Kamino First Place, | Kashyyyk, Mos Eisley (sit on the tops of shops), Mygeeto and | Yavin 4. Stick around a Power Droid if possible as well; the | ammo goes faster than you'd like most of the time. | ========================+=======================================+ 2.1 D:...........Engineer Droid ========================+=======================================+ Faction: | CIS | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Size: | Medium | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Class: | Technician Soldier | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Primary Weapons: | Shotgun, Fusion Cutter | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Secondary Weapons: | Detpack, Health/Ammo Dispenser | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Ammo: | 320, 5 per Round | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Speed: | @@@@@----- | Armor: | @@@@------ | Range: | @@@@@----- | Damage: | @@@@@@---- | ========================+=======================================+ Description: | Engineer Droids are the replacement for the Pilots, who were | removed from ground battles and logically put into Space | missions. The Engineer has almost all the same weapons and items| a Pilot has, and it has the ability to create Turrets, Repair | Vehicles and Speeders and hand out Health/Ammo to the needy. | | I think its best to leave the Engineers to the AI, as dawdling | around with monitoring the health of others and creating turrets| leaves gaps open for enemies. No, go and defend and leave the | Engineering to the AI, I say. | ========================+=======================================+ 2.1 E:...........Magna Warrior ========================+=======================================+ Faction: | CIS | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Size: | Large | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Class: | Special Soldier 1 | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Primary Weapons: | Bulldog RLR, Radiation Launcher | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Secondary Weapons: | Recon Droid, Neuro-Poison | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Ammo: | 30, 6 per Round | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Speed: | @@@@@----- | Armor: | @@@@@@---- | Range: | @@@@@@---- | Damage: | @@@@@@---- | ========================+=======================================+ Description: | What happened to their ruddy Magna Staff's??? Anyway, these are | still good soldiers and I guess Magna Staff's would have over | done them. They carry a heavy Arsenal of Weapons and are good | for finishing off the last pockets of the enemies surviving | reinforcements. | | I think they should additionally have had Magna Warrior Heroes | that wielded Staffs. For Utupau or on a CIS cruiser for show. | ========================+=======================================+ 2.1 F:...........Droideka (Destroyer Droid) ========================+=======================================+ Faction: | CIS | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Size: | Medium | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Class: | Special Soldier 2 | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Primary Weapons: | Repeating Blasters | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Secondary Weapons: | Shield | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Ammo: | Infinite (Uses Cooling System) | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Speed: | @@@@@@@@@- (When in Roll Mode) | Armor: | @@@@@----- | Range: | @@@@@@---- | Damage: | @@@@@@@@-- | ========================+=======================================+ Description: | The Droideka would have to be one of the Best Units in the game.| Luckily for the Republic, LucasArts made it so the Shield could | be downed by firing on it, and reduced the amount of AI players | allowed to control the Droideka at any one point of time. | | With Ultimate Weapons, great speed, a Shield to hide behind and | no limit to your ammo (save a heating restriction), the Droideka| is truly an experience to experience...arrgh | ========================+=======================================+ 2.1 G:...........Droid Pilot ========================+=======================================+ Faction: | CIS | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Size: | Medium | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Class: | Technician Soldier | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Primary Weapons: | Commando Pistol, Fusion Cutter | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Secondary Weapons: | Time Bomb | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Ammo: | Infinite (Uses Cooling System) | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Speed: | @@@@@----- | Armor: | @@@@------ | Range: | @@@@@----- | Damage: | @@@@@----- | ========================+=======================================+ Description: | The Droid Pilot is a life-saver if the enemy uses Sabotage on | you during Galactic Conquest, although Sabotage Missions on the | Enemy Cruiser itself should be left to the Marine. Too often | have I caught myself with a Time Bomb in another ship. Great | for dogfights though. | ========================+=======================================+ 2.1 H:...........Marine ========================+=======================================+ Faction: | CIS | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Size: | Medium | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Class: | Standard Soldier | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Primary Weapons: | Blaster Rifle, Rocket Launcher | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Secondary Weapons: | Thermal Detonators | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Ammo: | 200, 50 per Round | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Speed: | @@@@@----- | Armor: | @@@@------ | Range: | @@@@@@---- | Damage: | @@@@@@---- | ========================+=======================================+ Description: | The Marine Class is devastating, wielding fast firing weapons | as well as heavy weapons. Such versatile Weaponry makes their | assaults inside enemy capital ships devastating. As long as | you can find passage safely there, you can wreak havoc inside. | | What I do is fly a Transport to the capital ship (make sure | no one is on board first, if they are, kill them on the other | side), then die trying to do something heroic, or respawn. | Select you command post at the enemy cruiser as your Marine, | and be free to do your business. | ========================+=======================================+ 2.2:............The Republic ============================ 25,000 years before the Battle over Yavin, the Republic was formed as Hyperspace technology became available. The Senate was formed under Merk Quanto, a determined leader who greatly expanded his Republic into the Expansion Region and beyond. The Jedi also arose around this time, forming the Bendu Order on Coruscant, and beginning construction on the behemoth Jedi Temple. Not long after followed the HoloNet Network, and soon after that, the Sith began to rise. A Millenia before the Battle over Yavin, a Dark Lord named Darth Bane realised the danger the Sith was in, and created the Rule of Two to maintain secrecy and order. He prophecised that eventually the Sith Lord would come who would reveal himself to the galaxy and reign over it for a thousand years. That Sith turned out to be... Lord Sidious... Anyway, the Clone Wars are centered around the fall of the Republic and the rise of an Empire in its place. 2.2 A:...........Clone Trooper ========================+=======================================+ Faction: | The Republic | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Size: | Medium | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Class: | Standard Soldier | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Primary Weapons: | Blaster Rifle, Pistol | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Secondary Weapons: | Thermal Detonators | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Ammo: | 200, 50 per Round | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Speed: | @@@@@----- | Armor: | @@@@@----- | Range: | @@@@@@---- | Damage: | @@@@@@---- | ========================+=======================================+ Description: | Clone Soldiers are the common and primary grunt for the Army | of the Republic. Armed with average weapons for the average | soldier, do not look these things decieve you. Clone Troopers | are accurate (unlike their bad-shot brothers the Stormtroopers),| and can blend in well with snow backgrounds. | ========================+=======================================+ 2.2 B:...........Heavy Trooper ========================+=======================================+ Faction: | The Republic | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Size: | Medium | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Class: | Heavy Soldier | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Primary Weapons: | Rocket Launcher, Pistol | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Secondary Weapons: | Thermal Detonator, Proximity Mines | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Ammo Primary: | 4, 1 per Round | ------------------------+---------------------------------------+ Speed: | @@@@------ | Armor: | @@@@@----- | Range: | @@@@@@---- | Damage: | @@@@@@@@-- (Vehicles Only) | ========================+=======================================+ Description: | The Heavy Soldier (Typically a ARC Clone) is the Anti | Vehicle Soldier of the pack. Wielding a Single Burst Rocket | Launcher, move them into strategic places (usually near a Power | Droid but near an Expressway for traffic) and fire away. Power | Droids are essential with these as you only have a limited | supply. Then called "The Petition of the Two Thousand", several Senators (uncluding Mon Mothma, Bail Organa, Padme Amidala and others) all join forces because they believe that the Clone Wars are destroying the principles of the Republic. During the eighteen years between Episode III and IV, Mon Mothma enlists Leia Organa as a Rebel Leader and forms a small force to make hit and run missions against the new Empire. When their base on Yavin 4 is discovered, they make a heroic move to destroy the Death Star. Crippled, but still alive, The Empire had a second one constructed. After that was destroyed over Endor, and Palpatine with it, the Rebellion became the New Republic, in which they faced new perils like the Ssi Ruu, Grand Admiral Thrawn, Reborn Emperor, Joruus C'Baoth and the Yuuzhan Vong. [EXCERPT FROM EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH] ^ ^ Finally, Battlefront has unlocked its Jedi and other Heroes to be used in Campaign Quests, Galactic COnquest and Instant Action. That was one thing that angered me in Battlefront I, was the indestructibility of the Jedi. Once I was in an AT-AT, and while Darth Vader was cutting up some Rebels, I was shooting him with full power. All he did was fall over and jump back up again, and it happened again about fifteen times. I know Sith are good, but gees, I'd be worried if I was Palpatine... 2.6 A:...........Jedi Heroes 2.6 B:...........Jedi Villains 2.6 C:...........Other Heroes 2.6 D:...........Other Villains _____________________________________________________ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ ================================================================+ 3:.............Vehicles, Starfighters & Other Oddments | ================================================================+ This section firstly provides a table of information on the vehicle and its stats, and then gives a description, how to fight it, how to use it, where to find it and other info. See Tips & Strategies for more stuff on Vehicle Fighting. 3.1:............Confederacy of Independant Systems ================================================== The CIS has the widest array of Vehicles in the whole game, making them my fave faction during the Clone Wars Era. They have some kick-ass vehicles, like the Hailfire Droid, the Homing Droid and the Armored Assault Tank. 3.1 A:...........Singluar Troop Aerial Platform ========================+===============================================+ Name: | STAP (Singular Troop Aerial Platform) | ------------------------+-----------------------------------------------+ Faction: | CIS (Trade Federation) | ------------------------+-----------------------------------------------+ Size: | Small | ------------------------+-----------------------------------------------+ Weapons: | Dual Primary Blaster Cannons | ------------------------+-----------------------------------------------+ Positions: | Pilot | ------------------------+-----------------------------------------------+ Speed: | @@@@@@@@-- | Manouverability: | @@@@------ | Damage: | @@-------- | Armor: | @@-------- | Recon: | @@@@@@---- | ========================+===============================================+ DESCRIPTION: The STAP was designed by Baktoid Armor Workshop to be a lightly built, unarmed Recon vehicle for scouting uninhabited territory for occupation by the Trade Federation. On Naboo, it was fitted with Blaster Cannons so as to reduce resistance and subdue the native indigenous Gungans. HOW TO USE: The Best way to use this vehicle is to have a clear path open to your destination without many corners or obstructions. I wouldn't recommend fighting, but if you do, keep strafing until the enemy is down. I use this vehicle simply for Recon only, and prefer to outrun danger rather than confront it in this vehicle. HOW TO FIGHT: If you are a Heavy Trooper, carefully aim and throw a few Missiles at it. Best in the IFT-X or AT-TE fast lasers. Again I don't overly worry about them. If they tick me off, I shoot the pilot, which ends up being quicker usually. WHERE IS IT FOUND: - Kashyyyk Shoreline - Felucia? Not sure, don't quote me. 3.1 B:...........Armored Assault Tank ========================+===============================================+ Name: | AAT (Armored Assault Tank) | ------------------------+-----------------------------------------------+ Faction: | CIS (Trade Federation) | ------------------------+-----------------------------------------------+ Size: | Medium/Large | ------------------------+-----------------------------------------------+ Weapons: | Primary Cannon, High-Yield Bolts, Lasers | ------------------------+-----------------------------------------------+ Positions: | Pilot, Gunner | ------------------------+-----------------------------------------------+ Speed: | @@@@------ | Manouverability: | @@@@------ | Damage: | @@@@@----- | Armor: | @@@@@----- | Recon: | @--------- | ========================+===============================================+ DESCRIPTION: The AAT is my second fave CIS Tank because of its Weapons Versatility. With a Gunner in the top, and you controlling High Yield Bolts and Rangefinders, the AAT can be an effective fighting machine. HOW TO USE: Most effective with a Gunner up top. Cruise around the place blowing up Infantry with the Rangefinders (get the Anti-Vehicle Infantries first). Watch your health meter and away you go. HOW TO FIGHT: If you are Infantry, get around behind it and either place detonators on the back door panel or shoot it with missiles. This takes off a lot of health. If you are in another vehicle, either pound it with missiles and lasers or again pop round behind and fire projectiles up its ass. WHERE IT IS FOUND: - Polis Massa - Naboo - Mygeeto 3.1 C:...........Armored Tank Droid ========================+===============================================+ Name: | ATD (Armored Tank Droid) | ------------------------+-----------------------------------------------+ Faction: | CIS (Commerce Guild) | ------------------------+-----------------------------------------------+ Size: | Medium | ------------------------+-----------------------------------------------+ Weapons: | Blaster Cannons, Missile Launchers | ------------------------+-----------------------------------------------+ Positions: | Pilot | ------------------------+-----------------------------------------------+ Speed: | @@@@@----- | Manouverability: | @@@@------ | Damage: | @@@@@----- | Armor: | @@@@------ | Recon: | @@@@------ | ========================+===============================================+ DESCRIPTION: The Commerce Guild Tank drive me up the wall. On Kashyyyk that one Command Post in the Western side near the wooden walls just seems to be a magnet for ATD's. After dying from destroying about three, another two drive up behind me and knock me over. Still, packed with good firepower and balanced speed, these are average vehicles but not the best. HOW TO USE: Simple: Don't unless travelling from A to B in a straight line. If you must, keep your enemies in front of you. There is a lot of ass behind the guns and its very vunerable. HOW TO FIGHT: The side of it up the top at the front is the most sesceptible to attack. If your a Jedi, jump on top and swing away, this is safe and effective at killing them. Their fast firing missiles can tear apart vehicles with stunning speed and they have a small laser cannon to keep daring infantry at bay. HOW TO USE: The Hailfire Droid is so easy to handle, because it has on the spot rotation, and rather fast. It can also travel at high speeds, so deliver your payload and get out before serious damage can be done to it. HOW TO FIGHT: Get the Heavy Infantry and pack some missiles into it. The Proton Bombs on these are very powerful, but when making runs on an enemy ship, remember to aim a little above your target, because the Bombs fly in a parabola downwards. In your first run, drop a few over your own ship just to get the feel of things, it shouldn't do that much damage. HOW TO USE: All Bombers should be used for enemy Capital Ships only. Fly them avoiding dogfights towards an enemy ship, and make a straight run over the target (Sensor Array, The Bridge, Communications Array, The Engines and the Life Support Systems). The Life Support is a little tougher because its under neath the ship. Fly upside down to correct this problem. HOW TO FIGHT: Lock on and Fire away... HOW TO USE: Stay out of the flak and fray unless you have lots of gunners and co-pilots, and fly it to the enemy ship so it can spawn more troops. HOW TO FIGHT: The Transports all show up on Radar, so find it, target it, then exploit its slow speed and turning to blast it to hell. They can't use Evasive Action so killing them should be easy. Its weakness is its open cockpit, so at th first sign of sniper's try to take them out, or they'll give you a headache... literally. HOW TO USE: With similar walking style to the AT-ST, the AT-RT has on-the-spot rotation, which allows for a wide range of targets. It could carry a Large Arsenal of troops which could be dropped even while it was moving, and its walking configuration meant it could pass through particle shields unlike Hover craft. Additionally it could climb up slopes with a degree of 60 degrees without slipping or falling over. HOW TO USE: Although it is slow and can't be turned all that fast, the AT-TE does have a powerful range of weapons. With crew at all the stations possible, the AT-TE could almost be invincible. Great at slaughtering Infantry, and even better at dealing to vehicles who stray too close. HOW TO FIGHT: As usual the Power Cell underneath at the front is its critical weakness, so if you're a Heavy Trooper then aim towards that and you'll bring it down in no time. If you are tracking an enemy, get up close to them and lay a few Proton Torpedoes into their backside. The V-Wing is also a Rebel Fighter which arises during the Reborn Emperor saga. Anyway, the Primary Weapons on this thing are good if you can actually hit anything with it. They have a slow Rate of Fire, and I think they should be left for their bombing techniques. HOW TO USE: Use it for making bomb runs on the enemy capital ships, that is what they're best at. HOW TO USE: Keep Moving Fast and stick around your own Captial Ship. Auto Turrets and Capital Ship weapons are your deadliest enemy. The Process of taking over planets one by one, buying units & upgrades, playing as leaders and conquering the galaxy is my thing. Galactic Conquest has vastly changed since Battlefront I, and for the better. This time the planets are mostly in their correct places, and you can move fleets between various planets to take them over. The only thing they didn't put in this was the destruction option that occured in the last Battlefront. For the Empire you could use the Death Star to destroy a planet, with the Rebels it was an Ewok Attack, for the Clones it was Orbital Bombardment, and for the CIS it was invasion and a blockade. 4.1:............The Stuff ========================= In this section I will explain the various rules and processes that are involved in Galactic Conquest. In Basic Rules, I describe the methods of play, rules of play, and how to play. In Victory & Defeat I describe the rewards of winning or losing, and what effects it has. In Bonuses and Units I describe the Upgrades and Units you can purchase from credits. In Recommended Budget List I have my list of things that I myself would buy in which order. 4.1 A:...........Basic Rules ---------------------------- In Galactic Conquest, the primary Objective it to Conquer the Galaxy. To do that you must first liberate every planet within that Galaxy. When you first begin, if you are playing single player, you will have the first move. You always begin with a 1000 credits, in which if you feel like, you could purchase a Bonus or a New Unit with. Before you move, you can use the Left and Right Triggers to enter two other screens: The Bonuses & The Units screens. There you purchase them. The Victory/Defeat Conditions are following. - The Attacker of a planet chooses their bonus first, followed by the Defender - If the Attacker wins the battle, the planet is liberated to their side - If the Defender wins the battle, the attaking fleet is destroyed - If two fleets meet at any point, a Space Battle commences - The Losing Fleet of a Space Battle is destroyed - If you have no fleets left, you may build a fleet for free If you want to, you can build more than one fleet. For each additional fleet, it costs +1000 credits to build it. Example, the first additional fleet costs 1000, the second costs 2000, and so on. 4.1 B:...........Victory & Defeat --------------------------------- You get rewards in cash for either liberating, defending or losing a planet. It also decreases the amount of time it takes for the bar to fully recharge. My opinion? Don't bother with this... SUPPLIES This Bonus is good if you plan on sticking as a Sniper or a Heavy Infantry. All this does is doubles the amount of ammo thats found in vehicles or your weapons. GARRISON This is useful on particularly hard missions where your reinforcements die out just before your enemies do. This adds an inventory of soldiers to your Garrison list in case it becomes to low. This bonus is well worth its cost, so use it when you need it. AUTO TURRETS These reinforce your Command Posts with mini Auto Turrets. These are okay if you plan on being away from your Command Posts a lot, but they can be easily destroyed and there are better upgrades to buy. BACTA TANKS These make your Health Bars slowly increase over time. This is handy if you are in a place lacking Health Droids. Just go to a quiet corner and sit for a few minutes while your health recharges. It is a bit slow though. COMBAT SHIELDING This increases the initial health of a Soldier when he spawns. This is good in places where Command Posts often come under attack, like the two Middle CP's on Kashyyyk. SABOTAGE This is the second best upgrade in the game, as it will cause all of the enemy vehicles to spawn with only a fifth of their total health. Use this on levels such as Space Battles and Hoth as the Empire (it makes killing Snowspeeders much easier). ENHANCED BLASTERS Although I find there are better Bonuses around, if the enemy uses this bonus you can be in a little bit of trouble. They can take you out much faster and its lethal on worlds like Dagobah where there are troops on every side. LEADER The best bonus in the game, the Leader activates the Map's local Hero to be used in battle. You may start with the Leader and use him as you get the points. Jedi can turn the tide of battles and this is definetly worth investing in if you are finding some levels hard. 4.1 D:...........Recommended Budget List ---------------------------------------- This is just an opinionated section, and you may have your own method of buying. I find that once you have found your process of buying stuff, you want to stick with it and not change it. This is what I buy and when. This is a large section, so Enjoy! 5.1:............Instant Action ============================== What he said: ^^ 5.1 A:...........The Maps ------------------------- Altogether there is ## Maps that are playable in Star Wars Battlefront II. All of these are available in Instant Action. I think of Instant Action as a place where you can build your own Campaigns, sort of. I like to plan out a campaign on paper, then choose the maps and set the options to suit my campaign. In this section I fully explain every detail about each map. Here is a kind of legend to help. NAME: The name of the map. SIZE: The average size of the map TYPE: The Environment HERO: The Local Hero(es) MODE: What Instant Action Modes can it be Played in? PLANET: What planet is this Map on? CP's: NAME: Name of the Command Post INITIAL: Who its affiliated to at the Start of the Game LOCATION: Description on its whereabouts DROIDS: Names the Droids that sit around it VEHICLES: Names the Vehicles that spawn near it STATS: Describes its Strategic Value, Accessibility, Defendability & others POINTS OF INTEREST: Any locations that hold significance. DESCRIPTION: A Description on the map from My Own Words Note: When I use North, South, East & West directions, I refer to the Map that where you choose which location you wish to spawn in. Command Post Stats Legend: Strategic Value: More means it has a higher value. It should be kept. Accessibility: More means it is easier to get to it. Less is good if you own it. Defendability: More means easier to defend. Harder for enemy to take it. Droids: Medical Droid & Power Droid Vehicles: None Stats: - Strategic Value [81%] - Accessibility [55%] - Defendability [65%] Points of Interest ================== - The Jedi Council Chamber - The Archive Library - The Briefing Room - Yoda's Padawan Training Room Description =========== The Jedi Temple Map is the best Interior map in Instant Action. It has been very well replicated from the real Jedi Temple, and offers a wide range of fighting options. Tips & Tricks ============= To keep the Main Hall under your control, its best to have the Jedi Library and the Balcony. The Council Chamber helps as well. As long as you have the Main Hall, and keep it, you should be pretty sure about winning. Also, utilise the backpaths and exterior walkways. The AI and probably other players don't bother with them all that much, and they can help you sneak into areas that were previously blocked off by twenty Super Battle Droids. The Republic and the Empire get the best Initial Command Post in this (The Battlement) and from there they should take the Library and the Council Chamber. If you can, instruct some troops to Hold Position around these areas while you then take the Balcony. The Balcony is the crossroad for most of the secret paths. Often visibility gets really low and you can't see more than ten meters ahead of you. This is a viscious map, and a Leader makes so much difference here. Tips & Tricks ============= COMMAND POSTS! If you are the Republic/Rebellion, you should definetly be wanting that Cave of Evil and the Shore if you want to survive. Note: If you have the cave but not the shore, you will be harassed by enemies so much that you won't have time to do anything else. Get the Shore first if you can. The Cave of Evil has three entry points so it is vunerable. Don't let the enemy box you in, either. Keep it balanced, if not box them in. That is the key to victory with this map. The Garrison Bonus in Galactic Conquest can greatly tip the balance in your favor. Droids: Medical Droid & Power Droid Vehicles: None Stats: - Strategic Value [58%] - Accessibility [59%] - Defendability [49%] Points of Interest ================== - Super Laser - Detention Block AA33 - Trash Compactor - Tractor Beam Control - Prison Corridors Description =========== The Death Star is a classic level and very fun to play on. There are lots of tight corridors to have grenade matches on, LOTS of places where you can fall or simply die. My favourite place is grabbing a Sniper and sniping on the catwalks, or using the Heavy Infantry to mince up the enemy in the tight corridors. Tips & Tricks ============= In Instant Action its not really hard to win this. If you are having trouble, try taking the whole map's Command Posts in a circular pattern. Make sure you head back to the others and make sure they are not being secretly taken over. If you can reduce the enemies Command Posts down to two or one, the game is yours for the taking. Also, don't be impatient and try to take shortcuts, because more often than not you will end up in half or floating among the junk from lingering too long in the garbage masher. These are places which are deadly for you to go: - The Black Death: No not the disease from 1700, just falling into blackness. - The Super Laser Thing: It can destroy a planet: Imagine what it would do to you! - The Trash Compactor: It took me ages to find this thing and I only lasted 2 seconds inside. That was when I fell in love with Battlefront. Tips & Tricks ============= Like most maps, there's two types of play you can do. Offensive and Defensive. In this map, each type affects play drastically. If you choose Offensive play and go out to try and take Command Posts, its very likely that the Empire will start taking your very first Command Post fully South. Once that happens, you are boxed in and thats bad in my opinion. The best strategy for this is to go Defensive, and just stick around your own Posts. FELUCIA ================+=======================================================+ Name: | Flower Forest | ----------------+-------------------------------------------------------+ Size: | Medium | ----------------+-------------------------------------------------------+ Type: | Flower Forest | ----------------+-------------------------------------------------------+ Hero(es): | Aayla Secura, Chewbacca, Jango Fett, Boba Feet | ----------------+-------------------------------------------------------+ Modes: | Conquest, Capture the Flag | ----------------+-------------------------------------------------------+ Planet: | Felucia | ================+=======================================================+ | Command Posts | +===============+ Name: Hillside Initial: Republic/Empire (Conquest) (Capture the Flag) Location: Far West and South but still in relative proximity to mainland. Tips & Tricks ============= There are plants that look like the shields of a Droideka. Use them to hide behind. Other plants are good as well. If you don't have the CP on top of that mountain, get it. Its really good to have cause if the enemy takes all your Command Posts, that one you can defend really well. I especially like being the Jedi in this one. Overall, this is good for a bit of relaxment from the heavy battles of other maps. Tips & Tricks ============= Just walk around shooting the enemy. Its very laid back and there's no effort involved really in winning. 5.1 B:...........Options 5.1 C:...........Game Modes _________________________________________ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ ================================================+ 6:.............Rise of the Empire Campaign | ================================================+ This is the only campaign in the game, and follows the 501st Legion (An Elite Unit of Clones) during their Clone Wars Struggle right up to the time they were dubbed Vader's Fist. The First Chapter focuses on the time leading up to Order 66, and after that their time as Storm Troopers. 6.1:............PART ONE ======================== As mentioned above, this is their time as an Army of the Republic. In this Chapter they have the Episode III Clone Trooper Skins. 6.1 A:...........Geonosis: Battlefield (Attack of the Clones) -------------------------------------- Difficulty: 1/10 (Very Easy) Briefing: After we hear Tem Morrison's voice telling us about the creation of the Clones and about the coming battle, we are thrown into the first part of the Clone Wars: Geonosis. This Mission is designed to be very simple, because it is plainly a tutorial Mission. Objective 1) Find Checkpoint Alpha: You must get to "Checkpoint Alpha" to make sure you know how to move properly. If you fail this, you should return your controller to the shop: Believe me it won't be your skill at fault. Objective 2) Take out Scout Droids: Take out the Droid Scouts around the Derelict. They are Super Battle Droids but have been wired so that they are easier to destroy. Keep moving around and rolling a lot and they'll come down no worries. Objective 3) Destroy Hailfire Droid: There is a damaged Hailfire Droid nearby, but its still a threat to your occupation there. Use your Thermal Detonators to destroy it. Make sure you stay away from the Grenades before they explode. The Detonators will stick to the sides so you can throw them from a distance. Go to the Power Droid outside the your first Command Post if you run out. Objective 4) Capture the Derelict: For this Objective you must capture the Derelict: A downed Techno Union starship. Getting there shouldn't be a problem, and once you're there, go right to the back inside so you'll have a good vantage point for any droids that show up. Objective 5) Repair the Droids: Some of your troops are in need of Health & Ammo. In the Derelict, go up to the CP and press Y and change to the Engineer class. Then go to the Medical and Power Droids and repair them. Use your Fusion Cutter for this. Objective 6) Wield the AT-TE: Preferably still being the Engineer, go to the AT-TE nearby and jump in. Your task is to destroy the Homing Droid that is rampaging about the place. Try out the different positions to see which suits you. Blast away at the Droid until she's toast. The places where the legs join the body are particularly sensitive to attack. Objective 7) Take the Watch Tower: Go to the Command Post again and change to the Jetpack Trooper. This time you must take the Command Post on top of the cliff in a Watch Tower. Fly up to the area, take out all the droids, and sit on the CP until its yours. Objective 8) Snipering: Its time for some specialist Troopers! At the Command Post, change to the Sniper. You must take out three droids from you vantage point at the cliff. Next, get the Heavy Trooper and deal with the next Homing Droid that walks in. Use X to Track the Droid and watch it fall. Objective 9) Mastery of the Force: Lastly its time to be the Jedi. Change to Mace Windu and hack up 10 droids. This should be easy with a lightsabre, just remember to block every now and then using the White button. After that, you must capture the Command Post in the CIS Depot. Conclusion: That's it! The Tutorial's over, now go and celebrate. 6.1 B:...........Mygeeto: Industrial (Amongst the Ruins) ------------------------------------ Difficulty: 2/10 (Easy) Briefing: The 501st have had a rough time out on the Outer Rim sieges, and now they are on their way under Ki Adi Mundi to go to Mygeeto and secure the planet. Luckily we'll be only seeing a small part of it. But that's all the Droids know. Secretly, you've been sent to recover experimental technology for Chancellor Palpatine's secret Weapon... Objective 1) Capture the Bridgehead: Capture the Command Post Across the bridge. To do this, jump on the AT-RT (on foot takes too long) and head over the bridge to the next neutral Command Post. Jump off and capture this, laying waste to any scrap metal that decides to show up. Objective 2) Take down the Turrets: Clear the Path for Ki-Adi Mundi's arrival. This is done by destroying the turrets near your recently captured command post. Grab the Heavy Trooper and toast these guys; it shouldn't take too long. The Detpack on the Engineer works good too. Objective 3) Destroy the Energy Shields: The game should ask you if you want to play as Ki-Adi Mundi. Your answer should be Yes (Left D-Pad). Your objective now is to lower the energy barriers. Go to the Control Room and use your sabre to cut them to pieces. Objective 4) Capture the Northern Command Post: Without a pause your new objective comes in. There is a Command post in the Northern area of the map, and you must take it. Unless your time as Ki-Adi Mundi has expired, take him to it and liberate the area. Objective 5) Locate and Retrieve the Sample: Now its time to make your way towards the sample. To take down the shields of the tower, destroy the Shield Generators (indicated by the Yellow Arrows). This is easy with Ki-Adi Mundi or with the AT-RT. After they're down, head inside and grab the Sample. Objective 5) Take the Sample to the Dropship: The Dropship is on the other side of the Map, so return back there (its best to have the AT-RT at hand) and walk up to the Dropship to end the mission. 6.1 C:...........Coruscant: Space (Desperate Rescue) --------------------------------- Difficulty: 4/10 (3/10 if you have done the Space Overview) Briefing: Its 18 years before the Battle of Yavin, and 4 years into the Clone Wars. The end is near; every one can feel it. The Clones have undergone some changes after a problem was found in their suits, possibly due to Seperatist Sabotage. In a stunning move, General Greivous has kidnapped the Supreme Chancellor and was engaged by Clones, infuriated by this attempt to capture their ultimate Leader. Passionate and willing to die for him, they gather a collosal force to engage the CIS and return their Master to office. Objective 1) Enter an ARC-170: Basically the first objective is to grab a pilot and leave the Hangar Bay in an ARC-170. Not especially hard unless you accidentally tap the Evasive Action button too quickly, which results in your spinning around 180 degrees and crashing back into the Hangar Bay. Objective 2) Destroy 5 CIS Fighters: If you have done Space Overview, this won't be all to hard either. Take out 5 CIS Fighters, all of which are rather nearby and don't go out of their way to fire at you. Track them down and fire on them. Objective 3) Destroy the Banking Clan Comms Ship: The Banking Clan Communications Ship is threatening your Star Destroyer. Take it down. This is not really hard either. The Auto Turrets rarely hit you and using the Proton Torpedoes along with the Lasers will down it in a few passes. Make long Strafing Runs that cover as much of the ship as possible, try to avoid head on attacks. Objective 4) Destroy the Shields and Comm Array on the CIS Flagship: Next is to Assault the CIS Command Ship. Take down its shields with your array of weapons. Don't worry about dying, there's no Time Limit and your reinforcements are unlimited, so pound away. Unfortunately Suicide Runs do not have an affect on the enemy ships. Once the shields are down, you must down down the Aerial-like Communications Antennae which is found Mid-ship. Their easy to destroy, just make sure you start shooting from a long distance. Objective 5) Infiltrate the Command Ship: Now you get to do my favourite part (I hate flying) is to be the Marine and fly inside the CIS Command Ship. You don't have to be the Marine but it makes the job a whole lot easier. Go in and you have the following options to destroy: The Auto Turret Capsules in the Main Room off the hangar, or the Engine Cooling Systems off the Auto Turret Room. The Engine Cooling Room has lots of pipes with green fluid. If you use Time Bombs, keep well away when the blow. Missile Launchers make short work of them too. Objective 6) Destroy the CIS Bridge: Finally, your last Objective is to destroy the bridge. Grab a CIS Fighter if your one has gone and assault the Bridge. If the CIS Strike Bomber is there TAKE IT! It has great bombing weapons and will cut the bridge to pieces. Once this is done, its over. 6.1 D:...........Felucia: Flower Jungle (Heart of Darkness) --------------------------------------- Difficulty: 4/10 Moderate Briefing: The CIS have been beating off the Republic for a long time on Felucia now: The 182nd's got thrashed, the prior Legion's have been out of contact for months, and the 501st is the only remaining unit with the reputation to face this danger to the Republic. Lead by beautiful Twi'lek Jedi Aayla Secura, the Clones would willingly follow her anywhere. Objective 1) Locate the fallen AT-TE: Get to the AT-TE. Oooh, hard. Follow the Radar blip and eventually you'll arrive. Once you're there you will get a Comlink from a Scout Soldier. There is some screams that sound familiar... Objective 2) Kill the Acklays: Acklays have been spotted by your scouts, eight of them, and they are ripping your frontline apart. Trek on over and kill them all. These are nasty critters if you let them get too close. Keep your distance and don't let your finger off the trigger. Objective 3) Defend the AT-TE: The damaged AT-TE has fallen under attack. You must defend it for two minutes until Aayla Secura arrives. Head back to the fallen Titan and get a good cover spot. Crouch down as you won't be moving much, and keep your eyes open for the Droid's coming down the hill. Objective 4) Locate the Power Cell: Now Aayla is here, you can get to work on the enemy. The Commander wants you to acquire a Power Cell from an dropship so that the AT-TE can get back online. Get yourself safely over to the downed dropship and then go back to the Walker. Objective 5) Destroy the Grid Turrets: Jump in the Walker and start roaming around, searching for the CIS Grid Turrets which you must destroy. They look like the ones from Mygeeto, so keep an eye out. They are also marked with yellow arrows. Once this is done, Mission complete, Felucia is liberated. 6.1 E:...........Kashyyyk: Space (First line of Defense) -------------------------------- Difficulty: 5/10 (Tricky) Briefing: "What about the Droid Attack on the Wookies?" asked Ki-Adi Mundi's hologram. They all nodded in agreement. "You're right". Replied Obi-Wan. "It's not a system we can afford to lose." "Go, I will." Replied Yoda. "Good relations with the Wookies, I have." EXCERPT FROM EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH Basically Yoda heads out with a Fleet of Clones to wrench the grip of Kashyyyk from the CIS' dirty hands. First up comes a Space Battle, which you can skip if you want. I suggest otherwise. Its a fast battle. You have a reinforcement limit so do it quick. Also its tight, and not a lot of space to move around. Objective 1) Destroy the Enemy Frigates: There are two enemy frigates, which are sentenced to be destroyed. Take the V-wing out (preferably as a Pilot) and make bombing runs over the Frigates. Which order you do them in is up to you,but put the Frigate between you and the Enemy Flagship, which tends to give you a fair bit of trouble. Objective 2) Destroy the Heavy Turrets: Destroy the Heavy Turrets, which are on the side of the enemy Command Ship. The way I did it was flying along the side of the ship (avoiding most of its laser fire) and made runs on them along the side, but I was wondering whether it would be possible to go inside and blow them up from the Turret Mainframe inside. That might be easier but I don't know if it works. Objective 3) Infiltrate the Enemy Ship: Fly an LAAT into the enemy hangar. This shouldn't be too hard, it was done over Coruscant and you should be able to do it again. Just barrel roll sometimes (you can't use Evasive Action) but the LAAT can take a beating. Once inside you'll get Objective 4. Objective 4) Destroy the Enemies Ship Components from the Inside: Now you have to start shutting down the Ship by destroying its Life Support and Engines. Grab the Marine and head into the Turret Mainframe Room. Take out the Auto Turrets, then head into one of the other doors in the room. If it has green pipes, it is the Engine Cooling Room. Take out the Auto Turrets in there, then lay some Detpacks down on the pipes. Once they are gone go into the other room and lay waste to the Life Support Systems. Objective Complete. Objective 5) Recover the Kashyyyk Invasion Plans: As a last message to the CIS, you must recover the Battle Plans that are used to dictate the Kashyyyk invasion. Head into the third room off the Turret Mainframe and grab the plans. Go back to the hangar and jack a ship. Take the plans back to your Hangar where you'll find the Blue Marker. 6.1 F:...........Kahsyyyk: Shoreline (A Line in the Sand) ------------------------------------ Difficulty: 5/10 (Tricky) Briefing: Successful in their raid of the CIS fleet, they've now made their way to the surface where they've encountered another CIS ground force. Lead by Brilliant Strategist Master Yoda, you must keep the Kashyyyk shores from falling into metal hands. Objective 1) Capture and hold the Beachhead Command Post for three minutes: Easier Said than done. Yet still possible. Grab a Soldier class and head down to the most Western Command Post surrounded by rocks. I know thats not the CP we're meant to be taking but taking it means that the CIS will only come from one direction, and slow them down from the other direction. Then head back up to the Beachhead quickly and capture it if your buddies haven't. Everyone I've talked to has used a Sniper for this, but I still found it okay with a Normal trooper. Use Heavy Troopers against the Tank Droids that come along. Hold it for 3 minutes. Objective 2) Go back to the Wookie Base: Use the Jetpack trooper or respawn. I get impatient myself watching people run so far. Go right back to the location to do this. Objective 3) Defend the Oil Refinery for 4 minutes: Grab your standard and grab some cover. The onslaught of Droids is going to be fast and furious. I remember I hated this Objective. Anyway, keep it for 4 minutes and you're good. Objective 4) Liberate all CIS Command Posts with the little Green Monster: Yoda is my favourite Hero, and the only fault I can find with him is that his Camera Perspective in the Grass often makes him invisible. Take him to the Beachhead and take that over. Then you could cross the water and take the Main CIS one (which I do) because Yoda can't be seen by Droids in the Water. That boxes the Droids in and makes them very vunerable. 6.1 G:...........Utupau: Streets (Underground Ambush) -------------------------------- Difficulty: 5/10 (Tricky) Briefing: "Anakin, Come Closer." Palpatine spoke to Anakin. "I have good news. My Clone Intelligence Units have found General Greivous. He's hiding, on Utupau." "At last." Anakin breathed deeply. "We can catch that Monster and end this war." That conversation with Palpatine should have rung bells for Anakin, but firstly he was pretty thick, and secondly we're getting off topic. So Obi-Wan goes and scouts the system, making sure Greivous is there, and that they aren't on some trap laid out by the CIS. After discovering it was true, the 501st are called in from Kashyyyk to deal to the CIS at last. Objective 1) Attack the Lookout: The Lookout is a Command Post not far from your own. Its pretty safe at this point but keep your trigger finger ready just in case. Just before you neutralise the Command Post (goes white) beware, because Droids will spawn most of the time. Objective 2) Capture the Alcove: The Alcove is a Command Post on a street that leads down to a hangar. If you by some miracle have reached the Commander Clone, he can mow down any resistance in this part. Otherwise, the AT-RT does the job nicely. Once the road is clear, take the Command Post in the side of the Road. Objective 3) Capture the Hangar Bay: Keep heading down the street to the Hangar Bay (the game might ask you if you want to play as Obi-Wan Kenobi now) and capture the Command Post there. Watch out for ambushing enemy soldiers and snipers on the catwalks on either side of the hangar. Objective 4) Kill General Grievous: Obi-Wan Kenobi can make mince meat of the Generals rusty innards: Just hack and slash until he is dead. If you lose a lot of health, jump away and attack some droids to replenish it. Its a pity you don't see him on fire... Objective 5) Destroy the Anti-Aircraft Guns: Outside the Hangar there is a ledge with two AA Guns preventing Republic Calvary from supplying reinforcements. Take Obi-Wan or a Heavy Trooper and carve the Turrets to rubble. Objective 6) Destroy the Power Core Generator: Take a Heavy Trooper and head towards the Generator Tower. Ignoring enemy droids, destroy the Tower with repetitive shots. Keep on the move to avoid the brunt of enemy fire. 6.1 G:...........Coruscant: Jedi Temple (Knightfall) --------------------------------------- Difficulty: 7/10 (Hard) Briefing: "Once the Jedi learn of what transpired here, they will kill us, along with all the Senators." Palpatine told Anakin, his new apprentice. "I agree." Anakin replied. "The council's next move will be against the Senate." "Every single Jedi, including your friend: Obi-Wan Kenobi, is now an enemy of the Republic." "I understand, My Master." Anakin answered. "We must move quickly," Palpatine continued. "The Jedi are relentless. If they are not all destroyed, it will Civil War without end. First, I want you to go to the Jedi Temple. We will catch them off balance. Do what must be done, Lord Vader. Do not hesitate, show no mercy. Only then, will you be powerful enough to save Padme." Well that's the back story to this mission. Objective 1) Capture the Council Chamber: This can be an annoying mission since its such a distance to your only Command Post. Just don't be too aggressive and don't get involved in too much fighting. Try to be stealthy and get to the Chamber without losing too much health, because while neutralising the Command Post, you will have loads of Jedi and their security soldiers attacking you. Objective 2) Defend the Bookcase for 2 minutes: The Clone Intelligence is required to scan the Jedi Library for its contents, but the Jedi seem reluctant to let the contents be given up. Head over there and stop the bookcases from being destroyed. You must at least have 2 cases standing before the end. This can be a real rough mission because while attacking Jedi, you can hit the bookcases. Try to avoid this, as the cases will need as much health as possible to survive the sabre slaughter. Objective 3) Find the Holocron and Return it to the Dropship: The Holocron is in the comm room where Obi-Wan Kenobi reconfigures the code that tells Jedi to return to the Temple. Head through mowing down any Jedi that gets in your way. If they start chasing you, backtrack but keep pouring your fire on them until they die. Mow a path through them and retrive the Holocron. After that, several more Jedi will appear. Without bothering too much to kill the Jedi, head back towards the Dropship where your first Command Post was. Objective 4) Kill the Jedi bearing the Holocron: Head down to the Briefing Room and kill the five Jedi there (Anakin makes this so much easier). Take the Holocron and take that to the Balcony as well. Objective 5) Kill the 8 Jedi Masters: There are still 8 Jedi Masters (indicated by the Yellow Pointer) that need to be destroyed. Grab a Heavy Trooper or a standard trooper and blast away at them. 6.2:............PART TWO ======================== This chapter now features the Storm Troopers, and is set in the Galactic Civil War. 6.2 A:...........Naboo: Theed City (Imperial Diplomacy) ---------------------------------- Difficulty: 5/10 (Tricky) Briefing: The Queen of Naboo is giving the Empire trouble in its sector, and the Emperor suspects that she is hiding Jedi fugitives who escaped the purge. Palpatine wants Naboo liberated and the Queen and her Jedi destroyed. Objective 1) Capture the Plaza Command Post: You shouldn't have much of a problem with this Command Post, as it is not too far from your own in the Northern part of the map. Head over there as fast as possible and take it before you can encounter too much resistance. Note: Naboo is full of secret passages and pathways that can help you get to places. Objective 2) Capture the other Plaza Command Post: This is the symmetrically opposite Command Post to the previous one. Head over there, using the raised gardens as cover or going through the court where your first command post was to get there. Resistance should be thick at this point, so keep a beady eye out for those Royal Guards. Objective 3) Capture the Security Command Post: A transmission will come in stating that the Empire has dropped an IFT-T down next to the captured Command Post. Jump in and head down the street and around the corner to the Post. Blast a majority of the enemy away with lasers and missiles, then exit and capture this Command Post. Objective 4) Destroy the Central Grid: The Dark Trooper is recommended for this. Change to him at the Post you just captured, and head up the ramp nearby. Before coming right to the top, charge your Arc Caster up. Walk up to the top and unleash your electric arsenal upon the Royal Guards up there. It may take two shots to do it, but they won't have time to return fire before they're all destroyed. Then against the wall is a console, so destroy it. Objective 5) Assassinate the Queen and her Jedi Protectors: The Queen and her Jedi will run out and attempt to escape. If the IFT-T is still around, grab it and blast them all to Star Wars hell. If not, a normal trooper will suffice. They aren't all that hard. 6.2 B:...........Mustafar: Space (Preventative Measures) -------------------------------- Difficulty: 5/10 (Tricky) Briefing: On the Mustafar system, a Geonosian Seperatist had survived Lord Vader's purge of the CIS Leaders. His name is Gizor Delzo, and he has reactivated a Droid Unit, trying to build his own Empire for himself. Darth Vader and his Fist have been called upon to destroy his Fleet, then move against his supply. Objective 1) Destroy the Enemy Transport: Grab a Marine and use his Rocket Launcher to destroy the Gunship in the middle of the Hangar. Don't try shooting Droids first as they will keep on coming. Objective 2) Destroy 8 Enemy Fighters: Grab the TIE Interceptor or the TIE Fighter and blast out into space. Lock on to some Enemies and track them down. Remember to use Evasive Action whenever you start getting fired upon. Objective 3) Destroy the Enemy Flagship's Shields: Head back to the Hangar or respawn and jump in the TIE Bomber. Make long strafing runs along the Ship's surface until the Shields come down. Does anyone know if you can disable them from the inside? Objective 4) Retrieve a CIS Strike Bomber: Jump in any of your ships (TIE Interceptor works well because its the smallest) and fly into the Enemy Hangar. The CIS Ships have the largest Hangars as well, so it shouldn't be a problem. Once there, hijack the CIS Bomber and blast away again. Land the Bomber in your own Hangar to complete the Level. 6.2 C:...........Mustafar: Mining HQ (Tying Up Loose Ends) ------------------------------------ Difficulty: 5/10 (Tricky) Briefing: Gizor's Fleet has been trashed, but he himself still remains. And it turns out that not only has he reactivated a full unit of droids, but that he has reactivated a Droid Foundry which is manufacturing Droids in mass numbers. Lord Vader is furious, and he has commanded you to go down there with his Fist and take out Gizor and his foundry. Its quite interesting to see the Imperial Storm Troopers fighting the CIS. Objective 1) Capture the Conference Room: Take a trooper (preferably the regular Stormtrooper for simplicity and versatility) and head towards the blip on the Radar. There are several corriders which are jam packed full of Droids, so use Thermal Detonators, Mines or whatever else to clear the walkways. Once at the Post, you shouldn't have a problem with enemy droids. Objective 2) Head out a Walkway coming off the Conference Room. Watch out, as one of your own troopers suggests, for snipers on a Walkway to the right. Ahead is a door to your right. Droids will come barreling out of there, so crouch next to the Command Post and train your gun on the doorway, aiming for the heads of any droid who wanders out there. Objective 3) Capture the Overlook: Head through the door that I indicated above, and destroy the Auto Turret hanging from the roof in here. Keep going straight out of the door at the end and then turn right along the wall of the second level. Droids will be camped out a lot here, especially the Assassin Droids and the Super Battle Droids. Keep going right around the ramp that leads to the second level until you find the Command Post. Objective 4) Destroy the Droid Prototype Schematics: Head up the ramp to the Second Level, then follow the indicator to the first Tower. Lay waste to it with whatever weaponry you have. Head on towards the second tower and destroy that as well. Objective 5) Recover the Orbital Strike Beacon: A fellow soldier carrying an Orbital Strike Beacon has fallen, and you must recover it. The Beacon is in the Conference Room. Objective 6) Plant the Beacon on the Mining Antennae: Take the Beacon to the Middle Antennae which juts out over the Lava River. Then get well away from the Antennae. Objective 7) Kill Gizor Delzo: The Geonosian is camped out on top of the ramp. Ignore anything other than the Geonosian indiacted by the Yellow Pointer. Once he's dead, the level is over. 6.2 D:...........Kamino: Tipoca City (Changing of the Guard) ------------------------------------ Difficulty: 4/10 (Moderate) Briefing: The Kaminoans have realised the treachery that has befallen their old Clone Army, and are attempting to create their own Clone Army to eventually destroy the Empire. We have to go to Kamino and destroy the Clones that are being created there. Objective 1) 6.2 E:...........Death Star: Detention Level (Prison Break) 6.2 F:...........Polis Massa: Complex (Birth of the Rebellion) 6.2 G:...........Tantive IV: Interior (Recovering the Plans) 6.2 H:...........Yavin 4: Space (Vaders Fist Strikes Back) 6.2 I:...........Yavin 4: Temple (Revenge of the Empire) 6.2 J:...........Hoth: Echo Base (Our Finest Hour) \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ ================================+ 7:.............Leftovers | ================================+ The Leftovers incorporates anything that didn't appear in other parts of this FAQ, including Tips, Tactics, Strategies, Interface, Awards & Bonuses and other material. This section can be used to tweak your battlefield abilities, and help you to become a better soldier. Use them wisely... 7.1:............Tips & Strategies ================================= This section explains a great many ways to enhance your overall performance on the game. If you have any questions or any contributions to this list of strategies, please email me (see contact info for my email address). Note: It is almost Imperative to read the Command Post section in the "maps" art of Instant Action because I refer to their names A LOT. 7.1 A:...........Unit Strategies -------------------------------- Having some trouble deciding which unit to use in which situations? Want to know some ways you can push the units limits to the max? Here is your section. Each Strategy will be marked by "US" and then the number of the strategy. They are in no specific order. US1: Standard Trooper - These guys are the most versatile units in the game. They generally have fast firing weapons, medium-damage secondary weapons, and average speed/armor and rating. Most of the time, these should be your prime choice when just fighting in the every-day battlefield, as they are best against medium range combat. Its a pity you can't go prone anymore, as that was a very effective killing strategy in long grass. US2: Kashyyyk - Kashyyyk is a very large map, and has so many opputunities to use the various kinds of soldiers. Snipers for the vantage points it offers, Heavy Troopers for all the Vehicles there, Engineers for the many Turrets and droids that might be repaired or built, and the Specialised classes for the different situations that arise. But on the beach, the Standard Trooper works best. Crouch behind the Sand Banks to get great cover. The Water provides the perfect cover if you crouch. There is so much oppurtunity for Sniping on Kashyyyk, and you can easily win a round by camping out somewhere as one and demolishing the heads of anyone who strays within your range. Note: Snipers are best standing next to a Power Droid who can constantly replenish Ammo, which happens more than too often. - The Watch Tower: The Platforms overlooking the Beachhead on the shore. - The Port Towers: The cluster of platforms overlooking the water. - Fortress Walls: The top of the large grey walls in the northof the map. - The Sea Banks: The semi-circle banks facing the water. The Watch Tower provides excellent coverage over almost the whole Northern Shoreline, keeping enemies away from your Beachhead Command Post, and even covering the Eastern Shore. The Port Towers can cover the water if your enemies try to sneak across the gap, and covers the patch of beach between the Eastern Shore and the Dunes. The Fortress Walls can watch over again almost the whole Shoreline, and stop enemies from reaching your command post within the walls. And the Sea Banks covers the shore facing the Dunes where enemies could come from. Overall, the Northern half of the map offers the best Sniping Points. Heavy Troopers can have a Rodeo on Kashyyyk also, as both sides are offered a vast array of vehicles, especially those who start on the Dunes. If you start in the North, Heavy Troopers will be needed in mass to repel the five vehicles that spawn on the opposite beach. Heavy Trooper points: - The Sea Banks: The semi-circle banks facing the water. - The Watch Tower: The Platforms overlooking the Beachhead on the shore. - Anywhere that keeps you well away from the vehicles but within range. Crouching behind a Sea Wall means you will get unobstructed view of the enemy vehicles coming from the other side. Yet the Sea Walls lack the Power Droid which is essential to your survival as a Heavy Trooper. The Watch Tower is the best, as you still have a very good view of the enemy vehicles, but you also get a position with a Droid and its out of the Range of the vehicle's wrath. US3: Sniper Infantry - These dudes are one of my favourite troops, as they can unleash lethal stuff upon the enemy. Snipers are great because they can give the enemy an element of surprise. They often can kill targets without giving away your position to the enemy, and even if it does, it will be hard for them to hit you, being so far away. The Bane of any Sniper's life though, is moving targets, especially if the Moving Target is firing at you. The Sniper is best camped out next to a Power Droid, and in a place where it is too far to shoot as a standard trooper. This means being up high. In Yavin 4, the long thin bridge provides excellent Sniping oppurtunities, same with Kashyyyk (the towers), Naboo (the raised walkways and bridges), Mos Eisley (being on a rooftop) and Kamino (shooting from platform to platform). If you are trying to target a Moving enemy, be prepared to lose a lot of ammo. Just try to predict the enemies movement and add the distance factor into your judgement as well. Try to pick off isolated enemies, as nearby enemies can trace your shot and find you easily. Here are some vatange points on different maps: Coruscant: - Behind the fallen Columns - Behind the railings on either side of the hall - The top of the staircase below the Council Chamber - The top of the staircase at the Comm Room Dagobah: - Behind boxes near the Camp Site - Behind the crashed vehicle Death Star: - On the catwalks in the bottomless room - On the raised walkways on the sides of the Hangars Endor: - In the Ewok Village (on the raised walkways) - On top of a stationary AT-ST - On top of the Shield Bunker Felucia: - On top of the Mountain Peak Geonosis: - At the Watch Tower - Behind rocks/debris Hoth: - On top of an AT-AT - In the Forward Command Post Bunker - In the trenches Kamino: - On the sides of all the platforms Kashyyyk: - The Watchtower over the Beachhead - The three Port Towers - Fortress Walls to the North - Behind the Sea Bank Walls Mustafar: - On a walkway in full view of two other walkways leading off the Conference Room. - On the Antennae Mygeeto: - Behind the towers/debris Naboo: - On the bridges overlooking the streets - On the balconies Polis Massa: - Sniping is pretty illogical here (if a vatage is found, please tell me) Tantive IV: - Sniping is illogical here Tatooine (Jabba's Palace) - Sniping is illogical here Tatooine (Mos Eisley) - On top of the Depot where Jabba's Sail Barge is being repaired (see end of section) - On any other rooftop Utupau: - On the top of the north platform overlooking three CP's. - On catwalks on either side of the large Hangar Bay Yavin 4: - On the long thin bridge stretching out from the Ruins - On top of the Pyramid - On the cliff of the Overlook Command Post So there are all the Sniping Vantage Points that I have used in the past. When I noted the Mos Eisley Vantage Point (on the roof above the Sail Barge), the way to get up there is a series of ramps. Not the ones that go up to the Barge, but ones that lead to a curving ramp. Follow that up and look over the edge: A massive view, best Vantage Point in whole game. US4: Droideka - The most unit in the game, getting the best performance out of this is quite a feat. Most important is when its vunerable. - While its rolling (not so much) - When its deploying (most vunerable) When the Droideka stops rolling, there is a delay before it can activate its shields. If you are facing one, this is the time to mash the trigger button down and you will just have time to blast it to pieces. If you are the Droideka, its worth the time taken to stop rolling and walk into battle. That way as soon as you a fired upon you can activate your shields without delay. Also, when your shields run out, you become THE target of any AI unit with functional threat assessment logic. Watch your shield meter and when its nearly depleted, roll away if you think you can make it. Otherwise, try to clear the most deadly enemies first and hope you can wait an onslaught out till after your shields regenerate. You can use a Droideka as your own personal shield if you are low on health. Sit behind the Droideka and lob Grenades over it to attack enemies, or pop out every now and then to add to the damage. A splitscreen battle would make this extremely effective; if the second player went as the Droideka you could have almost an undefeatable team. The Chain Gun on the Clone Commander is extremely good at lowering the Droideka's Shields. US5: Heavy Trooper - The Heavy class in any Faction is very skilled at taking down enemy vehicles and object structure things. But if you get the right situation, you can treat them like standard soldiers. On maps like Polis Massa, Tantive IV and Jedi Temple, places can get very cramped. This means spalsh damage is likely to affect a large amount of people. And where do you find splash damage? In a Heavy Trooper. As long as you keep a wee way out of the radius, fire a missile (Rebel Vanguards have 2x Burst) into the group of enemies and watch them all kark it. Following is a list of such places: Coruscant: - In the Hallways Dagobah: - In the Cave of Evil Death Star: - In the Prison Corridor Hoth: - Inside the Tunnels connecting the Hangar to the Forward Command Center Polis Massa: - Virtually anywhere inside (as long as its cramped) Tantive IV: - Any Corridor Tatooine: (Jabba's Palace) - Any corridor 7.1 B:...........Vehicle Strategies 7.1 C:...........Turret Strategies 7.1 D:...........Basic Battlefield Strategies 7.1 E:...........Stealth 7.1 F:...........Brute Force 7.1 G:...........Space Strategies 7.1 H:...........FAQ 7.2:............Bonus Material 7.2 A:...........Awards & Upgrades Table 7.2 B:...........Descriptions ______________________________________ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ ================================================+ 8:.............The Stuff Nobody Looks At | ================================================+ This section clearly isn't going to be looked at by anyone who has a concept of boredom, but if you broke a copyright law, at least you can't say I didn't warn you. They have awesome FAQs too, and if its not on mine, it'll definetly be in theirs. Secondly, LucasArts deserves all the credit for an excellent sequel to a great game, which didn't disappoint us in the slightest. We can only hope that a Battlefront III for PS3 or XBox360 will arrive with a much greater range of maps, factions, eras, vehicles, weapons and units. Go LucasArts!!! Thirdly, myself, Biggs Darklighter, not quite veteran FAQ Writer but maybe a Padawan Learner nearing Knighthood. But really, if I had the chance, I would become either a Force Mercenary who followed his own rules, or most likely a Sith (they are so wicked). Fourthly, and most importantly, I have to credit the Mastermind who achieved so much in such a short space of time. George Lucas, who created a whole entire universe for the imagination to wander in (and hopefully virtual reality one day). You are my Hero George. Star Wars rocks! I really want to write a FAQ on the Star Wars Universe that just explains everything. (Without tooting my own horn, I can confidently say that my twelve years of constantly poring over Star Wars info has installed Gigabytes of knowledge into my rusty head). Please CJayC, please let me write a FAQ for Star Wars! 8.2 B:...........Version History -------------------------------- 1.01 - My first draft. - I added everything you saw in the first version.
