CSI: DEADLY INTENT - THE HIDDEN CASES
OTHER OCEAN - UBISOFT - 2009 DS
VERSION 1.2

Introduction

This is my first real walkthrough in English, well, it's a translation from my French file. Don't be too difficult with me as I played the game only in my native language and not in English.

Thanks to those who answered me for the English names for the cases, it's kind
of you to take time to do it.

If a word is wrong or if something is missing, send me an email at cleo_rabb(@)
hotmail(.)com.

The French file, along with this one, can be found on:

UPDATES

  • Version 1.0 - 26 december 2009: Release of the guide
  • Version 1.1 - 03 february 2010: Formatted Faq
  • Version 1.2 - 17 april 2010: Some major changes in the visual aspect

Keys for understanding the walkthrough

How to move in a scene

For moving in a scene, you have to scroll to the left or right the stylus. I'll tell you the area anyway.

Hand or Gloves?

When I say hand, I mean gloves. It's the icon that got me confused first.

Use of GPS

For moving from a location to another, you have to tap on your phone and choose GPS. It's obvious that I'll not write everytime this action. So, just see the locations when you're reading my guide.

Lab

The entire lab is divided in three: Brass's office, Morgue and the lab itself. I'm using these three parts in the guide, so, it's easier to read.

About minigames

For some minigames, it's hard to explain the right solution. I've tried to do my best but I can only for some telling you what you have to do in general. I'll give also some tips.

How to work in the lab

When you're in the lab (with Hodges), you have proofs with an exclamation point. It means that you have it to analyze or to give to Hodges. I'll just point to you what Hodges will take and what you have to do by yourself.

And how to question

When you're in the Interrogation part, the list is what you have to show when the suspect is lying. It's being given chronologically.

Golden stars

As far as I know, this walkthrough will give you the golden stars for Interrogation and Collecting. I can't guarantee it for Analyzing because I can't play at your place when there is a game which is under a time limit.

Walkthrough

So you're the newbie, uh? Well, it's time to prove to the CSI team that you're worthy of their trust.

CASE 1: Don't Try This At Home

  • CSI: Ray Langston
  • Victim: William Zander
  • Suspects: Thomas Goyer, Katja Osipov, Sara Lee Strong & Colby Price

Parking

Take the following objects or traces:

  • Cellphone
    • Where: Near the Chicken disguise
    • Tool: Hand

  • Body
    • Where: Under the white cloth
    • Tool: Magnifying glass

  • Fingerprint (car)
    • Where: Above the wheel at the back
    • Tool: Paintbrush
      • Powder above the wheel
      • You have to blow air in the microphone

  • Melt metal
    • Where: Back of the car
    • Tool: Paintbrush
      • With the stylus, clean the black area

  • Partial shoeprint
    • Where: Pool of fat near the corpse
    • Tool: Camera

Morgue

Click on the wound area on the victim's neck for a little game. You have to
insert the tweezer with caution in the hole with the stylus but pay attention,
you CAN'T LET GO OF THE STYLUS or else you have to start again. When you are
holding the black object, you have to make some light vertical moves for
unblocking it. Then, remove the tweezer slowly out of the hole. When the game
is taking back the control, it means that the operation was a success. Remember
one thing: NEVER LET GO OF THE STYLUS, NEVER REMOVE IT FROM THE SCREEN.

The black thing is a plastic piece.

Lab

- Hodges:
  • Cellphone
  • Melt metal
  • Plastic piece

- Wound picture: Just outline the shape by following lines and crosses.

- Fingerprint (car): Katja Osipov

The goal here is to choose two points and to search a suspect. If they're
correct, you'll get the owner's name. Being wrong here at several tries isn't
involved in the final evaluation. The localisation of the right points are
random each time you're playing that case, so I can't tell you which one to
choose. I'm just giving the name that will be revealed.

- Blood sample: Cocaine

The goal here is to make a molecule. Each ball is colored. You have to drag and drop molecule parts in the right list on the patter. The colors must be related: a blue ball goes on a blue ball when you have to stack them. This game is timed. I'm giving you the pattern with the colors, it will be up to you to find the right molecule part.

Blood Sample

- = grey ball
B = blue
R = red
G = green

                                           G
                                     - B - R
                                   R - R - B
                                     - G - G

  • Fingerprint (detonator)
    • Where: Under the second bookshelf
    • Tool: Paintbrush
      • Powder on the middle detonator
      • You have to blow air in the microphone

Brass

Colby Price's questionning:

  • Missing object on the ground
  • White powder
  • Blond Hair

The game will switch to Sara Lee Strong's questionning. She's the scriptwriter of the movie.

Lab

- Thomas Goyer's memory card: Data series

The goal is to find the 7 differences between two data series by double
clicking on them. It can be an error of spelling or of color.

Corrupt data (touch screen)
001: 84
004: 0A purple in the end of the line
006: 01 (2nd column) - 3C
008: C4
00A: 77
00B: last 04

- Date series 1: Rewritten script

- Data series 2: Picture of Goyer with Zander, the victim.

The game is a puzzle one: put the picture parts in the right list on the
blurry picture in the middle. You can rotate the parts with the stylus if
needed. Just begin by the C part who will be put in the brown part in the
bottom.

he arrives, you'll work with him.

You can tap on the body (the shadow on the sword of the statue) and use the
magnifying glass for a comment.

Find the proofs or the traces which follow:

The goal here is to reconstitute a DNA: you have to drag and drop the parts
where it's corresponding with the shape in the middle. You will have to rotate
them. Just an advise, try to see where the part can be dropped thanks to the
balls (their positions or colors). It's very hard to explain where each thing
goes and it can take time before finding the right place. This game is timed and
it can make you miss the gold star at the end.

Insert the tweezer with caution in the hole with the stylus but pay attention, you CAN'T LET GO OF THE STYLUS or else you have to start again. When you are holding the key, you have to make some light vertical moves for unblocking it. Then, remove the tweezer slowly out of the hole. When the game is taking back the control, it means that the operation was a success. Remember one thing: NEVER LET GO OF THE STYLUS, NEVER REMOVE IT FROM THE SCREEN.

Then remove the papers for discovering a prescription.

Lab

- Hodges: Prescription, buying order, account book, towel

- Catherine: Phone

- Pills bottle: Antidepressants

The goal here is to make a molecule. Each ball is colored. You have to drag
and drop molecule parts in the right list on the patter. The colors must be
related: a blue ball goes on a blue ball when you have to stack them. This game
is timed. I'm giving you the pattern with the colors, it will be up to you to
find the right molecule part.

Brass

Samantha Tymes's questionning:

You will have to do the identikit (well the drawning of a suspect's face). The
following is from the top to the bottom - always using the right arrow).

  • Shape of the face: 2nd model (upper arrow)
  • Hair: 4th model
  • Eyes: 5th model
  • Nose: 4th model
  • Lips: 4th model

Take:

  • Damaged paper
    • Where: Open box
    • Tool: Hand

Then, touch the pile of papers on the ground, just in front of the door. Remove them for (use the magnifying glass for the game):

  • USB Key
    • Where: Under the pile of papers
    • Tool: Hand

Then, touch the open drawer on the right for a zoom:

  • Delivery order
    • Where: Drawer
    • Tool: Hand

Then, touch the door for a game: you have to repair the electronic lock. Just follow the path. Once it's open, touch the door then the magnifying glass for looking in the new room. You're finding a seat you can touch for a comment and the famous box beam. Just touch it for:

  • Chemical product (box beam)
    • Where: Entrance of the box beam
    • Tool: Swab

- Damaged papers: Lost objects inventory report

  • Just clean the papers with your stylus.

- Delivery order: Find the differences by double clicking on them.

- USB Key: Customers's register (with Sara Lee Strong & Chandler Saunders)

The goal is to find the 7 differences between two data series by double
clicking on them. It can be an error of spelling or of color.

Corrupt data (touch screen)
001: 01
003: 45
004: FF - 00

Then click on the middle shelf near the sink, in the middle shelf (2nd when counting from the bottom), for a zoom. Take the white bottle with the hand.

You can discuss now with Sebastian Blau (and if you're paying attention,
Catherine is making a reference to Grissom).

Brass

With Brass, you'll speak with three persons. At the jail, you'll see Sara Lee
Strong again, then, with Riley Adamns, you'll question Chandler Saunders before
going back to Samatha Tymes.

Extravagant Auto

Touch the car door for a zoom of its interior:

  • Thalium trace
    • Where: Back ground
    • Tool: Adhesive
      • Put the adhesive in front of the evidence then roll it with your stylus to the right. Then put pressure on the evidence for it to stick to your tool then with one tap, remove the adhesive. It's here the blue stain.

  • Blond hair
    • Where: Back headrest
    • Tool: Tweezers

  • Fingerprint (handle)
    • Where: Door handle
    • Tool: Paintbrush
      • Powder on the handle
      • You have to blow air in the microphone

Lab

- Hodges: Chemical product

- Hair: Sara Lee Strong's DNA

The goal here is to reconstitute a DNA: you have to drag and drop the parts
where it's corresponding with the shape in the middle. You will have to rotate
them. Just an advise, try to see where the part can be dropped thanks to
the balls (their positions or colors). It's very hard to explain where each
thing goes and it can take time before finding the right place. This game is
timed and it can make you miss the gold star at the end.

- Fingerprint (car handle): Chandler Saunders

The goal here is to choose four points and to search a suspect. If they are
correct, you'll get the owner's name. Being wrong here at several tries isn't
involved in the final evaluation. The localisation of the right points are
random each time you're playing that case, so I can't tell you which one to
choose. I'm just giving the name that will be revealed.
