Introduction

Welcome to another one of my FAQs. This particular FAQ covers Ferrari Grand Prix Challenge... Another generic racing game.

It's been almost fifteen years since this game's initial launch back in 1992 by Acclaim. And since then, not a single FAQ has been written for it. Well, there's always a first time for everything, no? Ever since the start of the GB FAQ Completion Project on GameFAQs several years ago - a project designed to get a guide out for every single GB game out there - many people have now been helped because older, rarer, less popular games have gotten guides.

And so, that is how I came upon this game. Thanks for listening to my ramblin'; hope you enjoy!

Game Controls

Button	Resultant Effects
D-Pad	(Down) Upshift gears.
	(Up) Downshift gears.
	(Left/Right) Turn left/right.
	(General) Move cursors.
A Button	Accelerate.
	Confirm decisions.
B Button	Sometimes reverse decisions.
Start Button	Confirm some choices; pause game.
Select Button	Rotate through some choices.

Pre-Race Details

At the title screen, you pretty much have two options available to you. You can swap between them with Select Button, then begin said mode with the Start Button.

• Qualify: Generally try to begin a series of races.
• Practice: As it says. Allows practicing of any track.

Next, you'll choose a transmission. A manual transmission will make you shift gears manually - in other words, if you want to go faster, you'll have to do it yourself. Automatics will do this by themselves, transferring smoothly to the higher speed or lower speed. However, manuals are often around 10 ~ 15 km/h per hour faster than automatics in this game.

After that, you'll get to begin the game, pretty much.

Tracks

Notes and Track Info

This section is mostly used to note this. There are no shortcuts in tracks, and therefore, little more than a map should be needed at all. It is, of course, pertinent to have some decent tip. Mainly, just turning. This game, in my opinion, does it more shoddily than others. Basically, with any turn sharper than ninety degrees, you'll want to let off on the accelerator a bit as you go, to reduce the chance of running off the track. You'll also want to stay on the inside of the curves to make sure that also doesn't happen.

Regarding the lap times here, what they mean should be obvious. The qualification time is how long you must take to one lap in the main "Qualify" mode of the game to make it to the main race. The lap record is something trivial, but is still possible to beat if you want.

If you manage to beat the qualifying time, you'll proceed onto a main race on the same track. There, you'll want to make as good as possible in position - the main thing there to note, other than the aforementioned turning, is to not hit other cars. This will cause you to stop briefly, and reduce your gearshift to Gear 1 (if using a manual). After a main race, you'll get a password and can go on to the next race, regardless of your position in the previous race.
