While I do write all of my guides for free, it does take a lot of time and effort to put them together. If you're feeling generous and want to show your appreciation, I am gladly accepting donations. I don't know exactly what the donations will be used for, but just know that you would definitely be helping me make more quality FAQs! Introduction
Welcome to another one of my FAQs. This particular FAQ covers Kattobi Road. Kattobi Road seems to take a lot of inspiration from the Atari 2600 title by Activision known as Dragster - two-thirds of the main gameplay is devoted to modes similar to this. It is overall not that bad of a game, although it does feel uninspired and lackluster compared to other racing games of its day.
It's been over twenty years since this game's initial launch back in 1993 by Namco. And since then, not a single FAQ has been written for it. Well, there's always a first time for everything, no? Ever since the start of the GB FAQ Completion Project on GameFAQs several years ago - a project designed to get a guide out for every single GB game out there - many people have now been helped because older, rarer, less popular games have gotten guides.
And so, that is how I came upon this game. Thanks for listening to my ramblin'; hope you enjoy!

Pre-Race Details
Mode
There are five modes from which you can choose, three of which take gameplay into direct consideration.
- Trial Race: Go along a general winding track.
- 0-400 Race: 400-meter race in a straight line against one AI.
- 0-1000 Race: Same as the 0-400, but one kilometer.
- Entry: I think it's just for car statistics.
- Record: Check out track records.
Car Decision
There are twenty different vehicles from which you can choose, with a number of stats. You will choose for yourself, as well as an opponent in the 0-400/0-1000 race.
- Type: Basically car design.
- Transmission: Automatic transmissions shift gears for you; manuals do not. This is pure choice.
- Power: Can be related to speed; unit is PS.
- Torque: Inertia, which keeps stuff in motion even you tell it to stop. Related in kilogram-meters (you go one meter for each kilogram).
- Weight: Mostly used for the torque thing.
- Steering: How well turns are handled.
- Brakes: Stopping ability.

Race Modes
Trial Races
Trial Races allow two different modes. There is a Spot mode that will allow you to choose a track to play at will, and a Full mode that makes you play them all sequentially. Each track is semi-linear. Not exactly straight like the 0-400/0-1000 races, as you will do some turning, but it's usually quite minor except for the last two.
With that in mind, there's little to mention about them - you can simply follow the track until the end. The main thing to beware of here is turning - basically, you'll want to start turning a bit early (especially if your torque is high), and also try to stay on the inside of the curve. For most of the early tracks, you'll want to try to remain in fourth gear as much as possible, but especially on the last two where there are numerous turns, all you can really do is manage around second or third gear at the most.
Again, it's a linear, easy-to-follow track - don't run off the road and you'll be fine here.
0-400/0-1000 Races
^sr2| The two types of races will take place on a straight track. To win here, you firstly always want to be holding the A Button. After that, the race solely comes down to gear transition management. You always want to get into the highest gear possible, as fast as possible - that means you need to upshift (Up Button) into the next gear when the speed meter turns black at the tip, like in the screenshot to the right. NEVER shift down and NEVER turn and you'll win pretty easily, although that itself depends on who you chose for your opponent.
