I. What's New

September 30, 2013

1.07 I partially completed the skillset and did the coliseum. I finally corrected the pics and added some more.

Version History

September 23, 2013

1.07: I completed the linked arte list and completed the Lilium Orb. Hopefully, I'll get started with the post game content.

''September 19, 2013

1.05: I completed the Mysterious Jewel sidequest and completed the individual artes for all the playable characters. I started working on the skills as well. Please don't mind the mess on Lilium orb because I'm experimenting the layout. It's in progress.

August 30, 2013

1.00: I completed the main story. However, I do not have the optional sidequest for the mysterious jewels. But, I will have them ready as soon as possible. Now, it's time to cover the loose ends in this FAQ.

August 26, 2013

0.90: I underestimated the amount of content found in Chapter 4. Anyway, I managed to complete all of Milla and Jude's focused segments. From there, I need to complete the remaining sidequests as well as the final dungeon and the walkthrough is complete. I also completed the moveset for Jude and Milla. I should be done with the walkthrough by the end of this week.

August 20, 2013

0.75 Hopefully I got most of the e-mails with the corrections. I thank all of you for informing me. Not much going on here other than finishing the walkthrough up to chapter 3. We are almost to the end.

August 16, 2013

0.50 Wow, you guys are awesome. I really appreciate that this faq is helping you guys immensely. As for the the people who giving me the correct info and additional stuff, I'll have it by the next revision. I need to sort out all the e-mails and write out the corrections. Anyway, I written the walkthrough all the way to Orda Palace. Again, I thank you guys for support.

August 14, 2013

0.40: Whoa, a surprise update. Anyway, I realized that the huge ASCII for the lilum orb list for Jude doesn't look good on mobile devices. So, I changed it to the proper format. Speaking of Lilium Orb, I completed Lilium Orb #1 for all of the characters. Also, I updated the sidequests and the walkthrough all the way to Kanbalar. Finally, I updated the arte list by adding Rowen's movelist.

August 12, 2013

0.35 Got the walkthrough up to the end of Labari Hollow. Unforunately, I don't have the sidequests for chapter 2 set up yet. However, I got the lilium orb started. Right now, I only have Jude set up. I should have everyone orb 1 set up really soon.

|___________________________________________|

He is a medical student at Fennmont. He life will turn upside down when he gets involved with Milla Maxwell.

He is the second main protagonist to use his fists as his main weapon. If you are familiar with Senel from Tales of Legendia or any fist users, then you should have no problem using Jude. Most of his artes are useful in most situations. For instance, he have his healing artes like Healer or Recovery Ring for you to use. His offensive artes is exceptionally useful because it focuses on swift yet powerful strikes. Talon Storm, Swallow Dance, Demon Fist, and etc. are all examples of really good non-elemental attacks. Also, his elemental attacks are awesome as well. Aqua Sweep can knock-down enemies real easily. Also, Cerberous Blast can deal significant damage against enemies who are weak against earth. He also have support artes that can strengthen Jude's offensive capabilities like Coil and Steel. Because he is the main character, he have the most link artes in the game. No matter who he chooses as his link, he has tons of options of unleashing link artes.

Other than his offensive capabilities, he is exceptionally agile. Naturally, his overall agility is the best out of all the characters. With his exceptional agility, he can free-run and not get hit at all. If you played Tales of the Abyss, you know what I'm talking about. His innate ability is snap pivot; when he backsteps at the right time, he goes behind the opponent and pummels the crap out of them. Although the timing can be fairly difficult, attacking from your opponent's blindside is a great way to punish attacks. It also helps that his skills revolve around his quick movements. For instance, he has moving assault where Jude can sidestep and attack his opponent at the same time. He also have assault step to damage your opponent while he performs a front step. As a support character, he has restore where he picks up his ally from being knocked-over. It also works when you are incapacitated in battle. It's really good for enemies who like to stun them to he floor. His only drawback is that his innate ability is fairly difficult to pull off. Overall, beginners and veterans alike will enjoy using Jude because his moves are straight forward and his stats are well-balanced. Anyone who likes using Snap Pivot will be well-rewarded by seeing the blindside animation and beat the crap out of your opponents.

|___________________________________________|

She is the incarnation of Maxwell who is capable of controlling the four spirits. When she finds out that the number of spirits are declining, she investigates why the spirits are disappearing.

Milla Maxwell's playstyle is quite unique from all the tales characters. She has regular magic artes and the short-range version. Her spirit artes are mainly for area of effect attacks like Rock Triad, Arrivederci, and cyclone. Her short ranged attacks like Flare-bomb, Wind Blade, and Lightning are used for single enemies. Her spirits artes are used in a typical fashion with an incantation time while her magi artes are quick hits. They can be used depending how you press the arte button. Then you have her physical artes which is great to use. Her attacks like Whirling Assault, Sigil Spear, and Shimmer Spin are awesome to use. They do decent damage and they can transition to magic artes very easily. Also her summon artes count as a physical artes. She can unleash Undine, Gnome, Effeet, and Sylph instantly and have great area of effect. Her aerial combat is excellent. Most of her Magic artes are capable of doing aerial attacks. For instance, she can launch her opponent in the air and do several follow ups with Lightning or Wind Blade. Unfortunately, her flexible attacks do come with a hefty price. Most of her attacks consume substantial amount of TP. Mashing the Arrivederci or Cyclone version of Wind Blade can eat up so many TP that your TP meter is almost zero. Also, her summons cost a whopping 40 TP per use can takes it toll as well. You really need to equip an accessory where TP consumption is cut by half or set up certain skills where Milla's TP is not used when she casts Spirit artes from her magic artes. Like Jude, Milla also benefits of having all sorts of link artes from the other characters. So, don't be afraid of using Link artes.

Her stats and her special attacks focuses primarily on Strength and Intelligence because her playstyle easily transtions from physical to magical attacks. When she acts as a supporting character in battle, her skill is bind. She will randomly bind your opponent by giving you free hits. Great skill to use if you love your combos. She has so many skills to use depending your play style. I do implore you to take full advantage of her aerial skills because this is Milla's primary strengths. Having her to utilize aerial attacks will definitely aid you in battle. Overall, her "Magic Swordsman" playstyle is awesome because her attacks are not compromised. She can transition from a mage to a physical attack in manner of seconds. However, I do want to note that her TP consumption is quite steep. Other than that, she is a really fun character to use.

|Character Skill: Breaker |
|___________________________________________|

Alvin wields two weapons: A broadsword and a gun. With a unique combination of weapons, he can dish out significant damage against his foes. Alvin's unique ability is that he can charge his base artes. It's mainly an altered version of the arte with more damage and hits. Best of all, the TP cost remains the same. For you to use his charge artes, you must perform a base arte. After you perform the base arte, hold the "X" button and watch him glow. After he charges his attack, you can hold it until you perform his artes. Even if he gets hit after his charge animation, he will not lose the ability. Initially, he can charge his attack one at a time. However, as you go through the Lillum orb, you will find abilities that will make him hold more charges. While the benefits of executing charge attacks are great in battle, he is vulnerable during his charge animation. While Alvin is charging up for his attack, someone can interupt his charging animation. It's best to use ranged attacks like Demon Fang before you perform your charge animation.

His stats focuses on Strength and defense. Because of this, he can withstand heavy hits from his opponents. Like most physically brute characters, Alvin movements and attacks are much slower than everyone else. However, don't let that deter you from using Alvin. He can also deal heavy damage as well. Aside with his broadsword artes, his gun artes deal a lot of damage as well. Some of his artes where he shoots from his gun can range from quickshots or delayed shots. As a support character, his character skill is Breaker. Alvin can destroy the opponent's guard by unleashing a powerful slash. This can be useful in battles where the enemies like to guard like there is no tommorrow. Overall, despite his usual weakness as a powerful yet slow character, his unique playstyle is what stands out from all the others.

| |
|Character Skill: Teepo Drain |
|___________________________________________|

Elize is your token healer in the game. Her healing artes consists of healing in a group like Healing Circle, Pixie Circle, and Nurse. She also have the usual recovery artes like Recover and Ressurection. She also have couple offensive artes like Negative gate and Dread Wings. Suprisingly, she also have several physical artes in her repertoire. With the exception of Pow Hammer, her physical attacks involved using Teepo in battle. Her innate ability involves Teepo in battle. She can summon her doll at will. For instance, when Teepo is flying around, Elize's physical capabilities increases. When Teepo is on Elize's back, Elize's magic capability increases. Also, during Teepo off, Elize can attack from medium range. It's interesting that her physical artes involved knocking away from opponents. This can be used to cast offensive magic artes from the distance.

Her character skill is Teepo Drain. While you are pummelling your enemies, Elize can siphon the enemy's HP and TP. This is a valuable tool to use because you have more options to manage your TP meter. Her primary stat is Mind which gives her the option to have so much defense against magic attacks. The only setback for Elize is that she have poor physical defense and her offensive magic artes are limited. Overall, Elize is a fine example of contrasting abilities. There are several options for her; from healing to Dark magic to defensive physical artes, it's surprising that Elize is an interesting take on the healer role.

| |
|Character Skill: Auto-Magic Guard |
|___________________________________________|

His innate ability is Arte Tuning. After he casts magic, he can do several follow-up attacks. For example, after casting fireball, press the arte button four more times to unleash more fireballs. Other Magical artes like Splash or Diffusional drive can expand area of effect with the left stick. Most of his magical artes is interactive; so it's never boring to cast magic. His physical attacks on the other hand is another story. He can throw his knives at medium range. His close ranged-artes, not so much. Why use physical artes when Rowen has ways to attack his opponents. As the token offensive magic user, he has plenty skills that will improve his magic casting. For instance, the skill conductor can quicken his casting time after tuning. Also, there's a skill where Rowen cannot get staggered while he is casting. By the time you are halfway through the game, Rowen is already a powerful ally.

His character skill is auto-magic guard. When the enemy is about to cast a magic attack, Rowen will automatically raise the magic barrier. Best of all, you can still move around and attack while you are protected against magic attacks. His primary stat is intelligence. Naturally it makes sense because he is the offensive mage of the group. Overall, don't expect Rowen to kick ass at close range. Instead, utilize his Tuning artes and take advantage of his diverse elemental magics. Rowen is an awesome character to have around.

|Character Skill: Item Steal |
|___________________________________________|

She have several physical artes to use as well as her healing artes. In contrast to Elize's group healing artes, Leia uses healing that targets a single ally. She also have some support artes like barrier and sharpness to buff your character's stats temporarly. She also have a unique arte called Elemental Impulse where she embues elemental properties onto someone's weapon. This will help your ally to attack the enemy's weakness regardless of what move you used against the enemy. Leia can be a great use in numerous boss battles because of her Elemental impulse. Next, she is really good using items in battle. She has several passive skills which drastically improves her item using capability. For example, two of her skills removes cooldown time after using an item and she can increase the effect of using items. Her innate ability is elongating staff. Like Jude, back step at the right time and her staff becomes much larger; giving you extensive range in her attack. Finally, most of her physical artes have aerial properties. Compared to Milla's aerial artes, Leia's moves are much easier to pull off because her attacks sends her enemies airborne. Even attacks like Darting Claw and Cerberous Strike have aerial properties. Use that to your advantage.

Her character skill is Item Steal. Obviously, she steals items after your character knocks down the enemy. It's certainly useful for finding materials or healing items. Her key stat in her lillum orb is Stamina. Unfortunately, her stamina stat does not seem to stand out as much as the other characters. The problem with Leia is that her overall capability is average. For example, Elize can cast healing magic as quickly as Leia, but Elize can accomodate with a small group. Even though Leia has an easier time to pull off aerial combos, Leia's combo potential is limited. Despite her setback, Leia is still a great character to use. Her item capabilities and her support magics can go a long way.

VIII. Double Raid-Linear Motion Battle System (DR-LMBS)

In contrast to Tales of Graces F's battle system, DR-LMBS resembles Tales of Vesperia's battle system with significant differences. DR-LMBS revolves around two characters performing in tandem on the battle field in a form of "linking." If the last quote left you really muddled, let's talk in detail about the notable features found in this battle system. = 0

Linking

Linking consists of two characters pairing up together in combat. The character you are controlling is the master while the AI controlled character is the slave. Having your character linked up can produce a variety of actions. For example, you can unleash a powerful attack using link artes by looking at the sword icon after finishing an arte animation. Another example is that you can let your slave character perform their own characteristic skills. It can range from binding the enemy to stealing items. Also, while you are pummelling the crap out of your enemies, your partner can assist you by attacking the enemy from the rear. Loads of teamwork involved in this game.

TP and Assault Counter

Techincal Points (TP) makes its return from Tales of Vesperia. So now, your attacks cost TP and you must keep track how much TP you consume. Also, the assault counter makes its debut in Tales of Xillia. It's similar to the chain capacity (CC) from Tales of Graces F where your attacks are connected as long as you have points remaining in your assault counter. In contrast to CC where you need to defend to replenish your meter, assault counter instaneously replenish its meter after you stop doing your action. Finally, if you are able to land a critical hit, you can exceed the maximum AC meter.

Link Chain Chance

If you look at the bar on your left, that's your overlimit meter. If you fill the bar to the top and perform a link arte, you will unleash your overlimit. During your overlimit, all of your hits are unlimited meaning that your combos will continue to connect before your overlimit meter runs out. Also, this is your opportunity to chain multiple link artes. For instance, if you link up Milla with Jude and did Final Gale, you can do a follow up by doing another arte and it'll do the link arte for that particular move instead. (Example: Final Gale ------> Cerberous Strike [Igneous Crush]) However, you cannot repeat the same arte twice. You need to pull off a different arte in order for the link chain chance to keep going. Fortunately, you can link up with different characters by pressing the directional pad during the link arte animation. From there, you can continue to pull off your link artes. Lastly, if you have an arcane arte and you pull it off during overlimit, you can unleash a mystic arte. There's lot to do during overlimit. Please use this as a tool to win your battles.

Character Switching

In most Tales games, you would need to switch your reserved party members from the menu. In Tales of Xillia, you can switch your characters during battle. When you have your fifth or sixth character in your party, you can switch by pressing R3 and pick one of the directional buttons. From there, you successfully made a switch and you can resume kicking ass against your foes. IMO, this is one of the most essential features in Tales of Xillia.

Lillum Orb

^l1| Lillum Orb

This is Tales of Xillia's way of developing your characters. If you are familiar with FFX's Sphere Grid, then you have some idea what the Lillum Orb system is. Basically, whenever you level up, you will recieve Growth Points(GP). You will spend your points on the Lillum Orb by connecting a dot to another one. The ones found on the line are generally stats. However, the orbs that are in-between the lines are special skills. If you connect the perimeter like you see the figure above, you will unlock the content inside the square. This can range from artes to support skills. In order for you to promote your lillum orb to the next level, you will need to activate a special node like the figure above along with two other nodes on the edge of the lillum orb. Once you fill all three nodes, you will unlock another layer of the Lillum Orb.

Misc

Purchasing

In Tales of Xillia, all shops will sell the same types of merchandise. This time, you will need level up your purchasing license in order for you to buy more stuff. For example, you want to buy the latest weapon but your weapon level is below the requirement. You can do this by selling items to the merchants. Another way to level up is to sell all of your materials. Lastly, if you ran out of materials, you can use your gald to raise up your purchasing stats.

Encounters

You will find all sorts of encounters found in Tales of Xillia. You have your standard ambush and pre-emptive strikes. You also have encounters where they bundled the adjacent foes on the field and you have to fight them all at once. A new type of encounter to look for is when the screen says warning. When you have that, your foes are stronger than usual. So, be on the look-out whenever you are in the battle field.

Cooking

Unfortunately, there is no cooking in this game. Instead, you will have to buy your food from shops. Bleh.

Boss: Greater Demon

This boss will teach you how to utilize your overlimit using arte chain links. Well, this boss uses its tentacles to attack you from a distance. Also, it will plow its tentacles to the ground to create a ripple effect. After the ripple effect ends, the tentacles will shoot up from the ground. Depending on the health, this attack can hit two to six times. Next, Greater Demon curls its body up and builds up power. You can tell when the bubbles are surrounding it. Then, it unleashes an aquatic laser. By the time the boss's health is 50 percent, it'll begin to grab your allies and slams them to the ground three times. Also, Greater Demon does a vertical jump and pounds to the ground to attack your allies within its surrounding area. Lastly, when Greater Demon is close to death, it will unleash a bubble attack where a dome of water surrounds the user while it damages anyone within the vicinity. As one of the earlier bosses, it does numerous attacks but the damage is moderate.

In this battle, you better know how to use link artes chain because it has so much HP. Its weakness is fire so use any link artes like Hell Pyre or Aerial Fire to do significant damage against the boss. Because of its large stature, it's best to stay close to the boss. Since your healing is limited, please make use of Guardian Field or Healer. Other than that, you will do fine.

After you beat the boss, continue to move forward and climb up the vine to the next area. Continue to move straight and climb up the vines. when you get to the top, be sure to go south to grab the life bottle. Don't forget to shift your camera around and there should be another Aifread treasure chest stuck on the rock. It contains Guardian Emblem. Now, head up to the rock plateau and move west. You should see a save point, but before that, turn right at the intersection. You should see an itembag and at the end of the path, you should find a treasure chest that contains three Apple Gels. You should have all the treasures, so get out and proceed to the next town.

There's not much to see there except you can grab two orange gels on top of the cliff and get the Verbena at the east side of the area. South from where you got Verbena lies another treasure. It contains a Hard Coat. (Thanks Marshall) Once you have those two treasure, go back to the North Region and climb on the vines on the east side. It should lead you to a treasure which contains six Mysterious Liquids. From there, continue to move forward. You should be able to find Supple Ivy and a Panacea bottle''. At the end of the path, there's a savepoint. You know what happens beyond the save point....

Boss: Jiao

Jiao seems to take several moves off from Asch from Tales of the Abyss and Yuri from Vesperia. For instance, he has Wolf Strike and Lone Wolf Charge. Both of those moves have knockback effects. Then he also have Rending Quake for his token earth elemental attack. If that wasn't enough, he has Gilding Charge which he lunges forward and throws your ally for big damage. When Jiao is halfway down to his health, he will begin to unleash a powerful attack called Devil's Maw, which is a potent earth attack which damages your allies surrounding him. For the most part, he cannot get stagged while Jiao performs Devil's Maw. He also summons wolves and eagles throughout the boss battle. So, watch out for your surroundings.

Jiao can be menancing if you are not careful. However, his large stature makes him an easy target for doing magic attacks. Also, his weakness with wind makes it easier. So, if you control Milla, you can use Wind Blade, Wind Lance or Arrivederci to attack him from the distance. You can also use Jude's Soaring Vortex to launch Jiao to the air. The most threatening part of the battle is his minions. While you are clearing out his monsters, he can get you pretty easily with his brute strength. So, watch your back at all times.

After the battle, you can freely explore the rest of Sapstrath Highroad. Don't forget to re-enter the forest because there is one more Aifread's treasure. At the battlefield where you fought Jiao, go to the northeast corner of the area where a bunch of purple flowers are. Just look at the branch and you'll find two Elixirs.

Sapstrath Highroad: Revisit

After you got out of the woods, head up north to the northern region of the highroad from your current location. You will find awesome treasures lying around. Explore the plateaus on the west and the eastern area. There should be four hidden tunnels total. They should contain Verbena, 2 apple gels, elixir, and a Sword Emblem. Also, on the western pleateau, there should be another of Aifread's treasure. Just look up the treetops and you will find a Mysterious Jewel 4. Also, this area is also the site for monster extermination for one of the quests in Sharliton, so remember it well. Anyway, continue to move west to Sharilton.

The guy right by the vendors is trading in some quality herbs in exchange for your Jet Jet Black Feathers. While you are welcome to trade in your Jet Jet Black Feathers, I suggest to hang on to them. The reason why I said that is because one of the trophies requires you to have 459 Jet Black Feathers in your possession. So, for now, you can put it off and move on to the main segments of the game.

Several people informed me that you can only carry 255 Jet-Black Feathers in your inventory at one time. It's best to give your feathers to that man and let him hold the feathers. DO NOT SPEND IT ON HERBS. Thanks jebz, troysanime, and grieverpdk for telling me this)

First, head to the cave. Obviously, you cannot enter the sealed door. Instead, exit the cave and head northwest. You are going to do some cliff climbing. As you ascend, head north on the branching path and grab the panacea bottle. At the second area, make a quick detour by going west where you will find an ice cream sundae. Jump off the cliff and you will find two Orange Gels. Continue to make your way up the cliff. On the 3rd area, jump to the bottom. You will find Lavender as you climb yourself back up. Along the way, you find a Silver Hat. Look carefully because one of Aifread's treasure is well hidden. Look at the pic below to reveal the location.

^l2| Aifread's Treasure: Headband

After climbing several vines, you should be able to find another of Aifreed's treasure. You shouldn't miss it. You'll find Elixir. You'll also find Fancy Ribbon within the vicinity. Near the save point, you'll find a life bottle at the branched path. If you are ready, climb up the vine and you will encounter another boss. Before you make the plunge to the center of the cliff, be sure to get rid of the round boulder. This will save you so much time for the upcoming sidequest.

Boss: Nameless Anomaly

This is your first encounter with monsters with flight capabilities. Because of this, the boss is a pain in the butt. The nameless anomaly multiple status effects. For instance, it has poison snow which obviously poisons your allies. It also have wing flap to keep melee characters away. Panic Veil will grab any of your allies and inflict Arteseal. If that wasn't enough, it also casts Shimmering Toll twice. The magic itself can cause confusion to your allies.Other magic artes to lookout for is Arrivederci. Like Shimmering Toll, the boss casts the magic twice. When the nameless anomaly is close to death, it'll fly much higher than before. It will now cast the most threatening attack in this bout: Angel Light. The rays of light can cause moderate damage in a large field. If you are not careful, it can do serious damage to your party.

Since you are dealing with a flying enemy, I suggest that you use a offensive magic caster in battle. Doing attacks from close range will be difficult. Since it's weak to earth, I suggest you use Earth magic like Rock Trine. If you are using Rowen and you are able to learn Air Pressure, this will make your battle much easier. The reason why Air Pressure works is because it keeps the enemy grounded and it can inflict significant damage. Other attacks like Rock Hexad and Igneous Crush works very well in this battle as well. If you are having trouble hitting the enemy, I suggest to use splash to force the enemy to drop to the ground. The key in this battle is to use magic artes to keep the enemy from flying too high.

After the battle, be sure to grab 5000 Gald and a Melange Gel before you leave the dungeon. Talk to Cline after the event. BE SURE THAT YOU HAVE FINISHED THE SIDEQUESTS BEFORE TALKING TO CLINE. If you are Milla, head over to Sharlton marketplace. From there, you will engage the enemy. If you are Jude, you will see more scenes involving several events. At this point, this is where Jude and Milla's path will deviate their path momentarily.

Bermia Gorge: Northwest Region

WARNING: Don't Pursue this boss until you are strong enough to take it on.

Treasure:

  • Folzex, the Grudge Bearer (Folzam)

After you cleared Bermia Gorge, take the shortcut from the bottom and climb to the top. Then, go east towards Bermia Gorge: Northwest Region, and climb the cliff. You'll find a harpy like boss.

Optional Boss: Folzam

This boss is a pain in the ass since it is an aerial type boss. Anyway, it uses Song of Despair, which is an extension of the harpy's singing attack. It uses Shimmering Toll to harrass your allies with confusion. It also teleports out of danger after your allies attempt to combo Folzam to death. Close to 33% of its health, Folzam will do Slash Wing to inflict damage to your allies within range and Revolver Assault which is a 4+ hit attack. Finally, it does quick attacks to harm your allies. Folzam is weak against Earth. Using attacks like Rock Hexad, Quake Breaker, Ground Breaker, Scylla Strike will do. However, if you want to play a distance game, then use Rowen's Freeze Lancer to attack Folzam from a distance. I know by now how much I tell you about spamming Freeze Lancer. Because Freeze Lancer is a water/earth element, you can use it to exploit Folzam's weakness. You should do fine against the boss if you are strong enough to take it on.

Fort Gandala

Talys Highroad (Jude's Side)

Treasures:

  • 3000 Gald
    • All Divide
    • Fine Down x8
    • Rosemary
    • Sly Glasses Attachment
    • Mysterious Jewel 7

Sidequests

Head up to the plateau. When you find the vine to climb on, you should see a shiny purple object at the distance. Go there and you will get Sly Glasses Attachment. Continue to move forward the barren land. Before you go inside the fort, make a detour by going to the Southeastern branch of Talys Highroad. From the entrance of the Southeastern Branch, go Southeast and you'll find another Aifread's treasure, Mysterious Jewel 7. After that, head over to Fort Gandala.

NOTE: If you are playing as Milla, I suggest you go to Talys highroad as soon as you finish the first chapter of the game.

Fort Gandala (Jude's Side)

Treasures:

  • Elevator Card
    • Melange Gel x2
    • Holy Bottle
    • Jet Black Feathers x5
    • French Toast (Small)
    • 2500 Gald
    • All Divide
    • Blue Chamomile
    • Life Bottle x2
    • Silver Helm
    • Pure White Puffballs x5
    • 1500 Gald
    • Fine Boots
    • Splint Mail
    • 5000 Gald
    • Control Key
    • 4000 Gald

As jude, you start at the exit. Near the merchant, there is a treasure box that contains two Melange Gels. Be sure to find three Holy Bottles behind the carriage with black horses. Before you enter to the next area, I want you to look at the huge golem on the right side right by the door that leads to the south lower level. Place the camera facing in front of the sidewalls. This is one of Aifread's treasure 4000 Gald. After that, go north....

^l19|4000 Gald

At floor B1/1st floor, head north. You should be able to find French Toast (Small) on the other end of the bridge. Since you have the elevator card at the start, go to the lower B1 floor. You should find five Jet Black Feathers. From there, go to the left room. You should be able to find 2500 Gald from the elevator room above and 2500 Gald from climbing the boxed crates. From the elevator on the second floor, turn to your left past the barrier and you will find Blue Chamomile.

Then move on the third floor. After getting off the elevator, move to the room to the right. Move the wired crate and climb up. Jump down and you should end up to another area. Then go up the elevator shaft and push the wired crate. Go down the elevator and set the wired crate next to boxes. By then, you should obtain five Pure White puffballs and 1500 Gald. Once you have done that, crawl through the ducts. Obviously, you won't be able to push the wired crate down considering that it's above your pushing range. So, take the elevator shaft and place the second wired crate next to the first wired crate. Once you are able to push the first wired crate, move it forward and you will get fine boots.

Before that, move the wired crate southwest from the location where you got the fine boots. There should be another duct. This one is really easy. Just push the first wired crate to the floor. After that, just push the first wired crate right next to the second wired crate. That way, you can push the second wired crate and move it closer to the treasure box. This will give you the Splint Mail. Then go back to the first wired crate and push it down to the other opening. From there, you should see a third wired crate. Push it and crawl through the duct, and grab the treasure 5000 Gald. (Huge thanks to nightsongthebard, nanaminasu, and Maniolli94 for telling me this. You guys made me redo Fort Gandala for these two treasures = P)

Anyway, Then go back to the third floor where you found second wired crate and crawl through the ducts. There, you will fight two Rashugal Battlecorps soldier and their captain. Defeat them in battle and you have the control key. After that, go back to the first floor and move to the control room. After seeing a couple of cutscenes, you will need to fight Rashugal grunts once more. From there, move forward.

Fort Gandala (Milla's Side)

Treasures:

  • Control Key
    • Melange Gel x2
    • Sandwich
    • 2500 Gald
    • Gold Dust x20
    • Jet Black Feathers x5
    • Life Bottle x2
    • Elevator Card
    • Silver Helm
    • Pure White Puffballs x5
    • Fine Boots
    • 5000 Gald
    • Long Coat
    • Pineapple Gel
    • Black Cat Headband

After the cutscene, you have an option to talk to the merchant or the traveller who functions like the inn. Unfortunately, Elize will not join you to fight. So, you have to go solo on this dungeon. Obviously, the only place to go east because you do not have the elevator key. Inside, you will fight the prison guard with a huge shield. Anyway, you find a small elevator on your left. To get the treasure, grab the wired crate from the upper floor and push it against the boxes on the lower floor. You should be able to get ten Gold Dust. Crawl through the ducts and you'll find more treasures. Again like the other area, find the other crate and place it next to the crates. On the upper floor in that area, you will find a small tunnel. It'll lead you to 2500 Gald and Black Cat Headband. Also, at the end of the path, you will find two melange gels. Anyway, head back to the previousl room. and go up to the 3rd floor.

On the 3rd floor, head to your left and you will fight another prison guard. This time, he will give you the Elevator Card. After your battle with the prison guard, push the wired crate and you will find another set of 10 Gold dusts. Now you have access to the elevator, I suggest to go head down to basement floor 1. You should find five Jet Black Feathers. The room on basement floor requires some basic puzzle, so listen carefully. Push the wired crate all the way to the edge and go up the elevator. On the upper floor, shift your camera so that you can see the wired crate on top of the boxed crate. Push the wired crate on the edge of the boxes and climb up. You should be able to find five Pure White Puffballs. Don't forget to push the wired crate and grab the Fine Boots on the other side of the room. Once you have all of the treasures on the upper floor. It's time to get the two treasures on the lower floor. You should see a large gap on the upper floor. What you do is that you push the wired crates in the same hole so that the crates are stacked on top of each other. Look at the figure below to see what I mean.

From there, push the boxes forward until you can reach the two treasures. You will be handsomely rewarded with 5000 Gald and a long coat for Milla. Continue to floor 1 and be sure to grab the Pineapple Gel before you go.

Sapstrath Highroad/Seahaven

Back in Sharilton, you will see several cutscenes depending the character you are using. If you are Jude, look for Alvin at the inn in Sharilton. At this point, the path between two characters will merge. Unfortunately, Milla will be out of your party. So, head over to Sapstrath Seahaven. Sadly, no fast travel for this event. Along the way, you'll find more cutscenes with Jude and Milla. Before you enter the port, I suggest to save your file and prepare yourself because you will fight a boss in battle.

Boss: Ivar

This will be a one-on-one battle against him. He will do several classic Tales moves like Light Spear and Phantom Edge. He will also do Terra spin, which is a sweep. He also does Grave and the charged version of Terra Rupture as his Earth based attacks. The most threatening attack is his combos. It does about 8 hits and some of his attacks can reach on his backside. So, don't take any risks while he is performing his combo. Lastly, some of his moves can inflict weak or arteseal. So, watch out.

Knowing how to use snap pivot is the key in this battle. When you backstep at the right time, Ivar will trip. This will be your cue to attack him. If you plan to heal after taking damage, I suggest you heal with your items because the recovery time after healing is smaller compared to using healing artes like Healer or Recovery Ring. Just don't crack under pressure and time your backstep correctly and you will survive the battle.

After the battle is over, talk to the guy at the boat and you will head over to Leronde.

Leronde

Treasures:

  • Aspirixis
    • Mining Kit
    • Mysterious Jewel 8*
    • Dark Bottle*
    • Life Bottle*

Sidequests:

Head to the clinic at the town area in Leronde. If you are playing as Jude, head over to the Medical Archives room and obtain Aspirixis. After the event, time to head to Felgana Mines. Oh yes, Leia joins up with you. BTW, before you go, be sure to check room 203 at Leia's Inn and grab a Mysterious Jewel 8 from the drawer.

Sidequest Location Objective Reward
Heavy Metal Collector In the inn in Leronde, talk to the guy in the center room and he will request an item. Go to Felgana Mines and find a Block of Quartz Spy Glasses Attachment and 4200 Gald

Voltea Woods

Treasures:

  • Thief's Cape
    • Lemon Gel
    • Chocolate Parfait (Small)
    • Herbs x10
    • Jet Black Feathers x10
    • Blue Saffron
    • Half-Frame Glasses
    • Mysterious Jewel 9

Sidequests:

At the start of the area, Aifread's treasure is on the west side of the area right next to the entrance of the northwest branch of Voltea Woods. It sticks out like a sore thumb. You get Half-frame Glasses. Other than that, there's really nothing noteworthy in this passageway except for one thing. If you take a detour by going northeast, it'll lead to an optional area called Old Vicalle Mines. Be sure to grab Aifread's treasure, Mysterious Jewel 9. From the pic below.

^l13|Mysterious Jewel 9

Anyway, It's an optional area with tons of really strong foes. You can enter there if you like but don't expect the enemies go easy on you. Anyway, if you need to progress to the story, just head northwest to Felgana mines.

Old Vicalle Mines (Optional)

Treasures

  • Red Jasmine
    • Specific Plus
    • Mysterious Jewel 10
    • Pinprick
    • Rage Glasses attachment
    • Padvent, the Incantor (Roparde)

Sidequests:

There's only a few things to note here. One, the first Aifread's treasure is located in the south region. It's located on the slender stalagmite column. You'll get Rage Glasses Attachment. The second of Aifread's treasure is located at athe north region of the mines. Head west and it should be stuck on one of the stalagmites; you'll get the skill tome: Pinprick. Next, be sure to grab Mysterious Jewel 10 from the pic below

^l14|Mysterious Jewel 10

Lastly, you can fight Roparde. This boss may blend in with the other weird enemies. But he is the only pale aphimbian monster out there.

Optional Boss:Roparde

Roparde has the ability to change element at will. For example, when he changes to red, he is restant against fire. However, he becomes weak against water. He possesses some of Leia's moves like Darting Claw. He uses Juggling Shaft to attack from its tail. Next, he occassionally does a body slam to interupt your attacks. Lastly, he summons his minions to aid Roparde in battle. This devil beast is really easy. Whatever element he is currently on, use the opposing element. It's the battle of adaptation.

Felgana Mines

Treasure:

  • Lemon Gel x3
    • Soba Omelette (Small)
    • Orange Gel
    • Melange Gel x3
    • Gold Dust x7

    • Jet Black Feather x4
    • Specific Plus

    • 4000 Gald
    • BackPack attachment
    • 5000 Gald

Sidequests:

  • Leia's Disappearance (After Felgana Mines, Missable)
    • Milla and Books (Missable)

I swear, when I first read the name, I think of that Ys game, Oath in Felghana. >_> Anyway, the minute you come in, make sure you grab the Lemon Gel on the right. After the event, examine the loose rocks on the wall. Depending how rapidly press the button, the rocks will crumble in front of you. Be aware that there are small rocks that you pick out, and you can extract material items. When you are inside the second area, the path splits into three paths. One is behind the mining rock in Natural Tunnel, which contains four Jet Black Feathers (Thanks nanaminasu) Some of them branch out into hidden pathways. If you head west, it leads to the orange gel. If you go south, you get the Soba Omelette (Small). If you move west from the treasure, there should be small rock that you can mine out. After destroying the small rock, go through the tunnel, and there should two more small rocks in in front of you. One should be a item material while the other should lead to another tunnel. Destroy the rock and you get a key item, Block of Quartz. Regardless which path you go to, the path should merge close to the entrance to Shaft #4. Before you enter, go north and you should find an Earth Cape from the hidden path. At the very end of the pathway, you should find Aifread's treasure, Backpack attachment.

At shaft #4, go east and move south to get life bottle. Also, at the adjacent rock, be sure to open it to get the Blue Jasmine. (thanks, Britto) After you get the life bottle, go north and grab ten fossilized shell. Right next to the fossilized shell is Aifread's treasure, 5000 Gald. Continue to go west until you hit the save point. Along the way, you should find five insect wings and three apple gels. At the end of the dungeon, you'll fight a boss.

Boss:Hammerzamm

This might be a difficult battle for several reasons. One, you are going to fight two consecutive battles against Hammerzamm. Two, you can only use Leia and Jude in the first round and Milla joins up on the second round. On the first round, Hammerzamm will hold back. You can tell by its HP and the low damage output. Hammerzamm has rising rush where it dig in and pops out of the ground several time. During rising rush, it has a invincibility property. There's no point of trying to attack Hammerzamm while its doing rising rush. It also does a crush grab where it grabs one of your allies and throws them to the ground. When its HP is close to 33%, Hammerzamm to begin to use Drill Rush where its does a dolphin-like lunge. Not only it's fast, but it does significant damage. If that's not bad enough, Hammerzamm is also capable of summoning minions. On the second bout, Hammerzamm will go all out on you, but it does the same moves used against you on the first round.

First off, don't try to use your good items on the first bout. Save everything for the second bout. Anyway, when Milla joins up, this is where it gets rough. I suggest that you control Jude for this battle. When you link up with Milla or Leia, they have important link artes for you to use. For instance, when your entire party is in critial condition, let Jude use healer and he can use Pixie Heal with Leia to heal everyone. Also, if you pair up with Milla, lightning Strike is a wonderful arte to use because Hammerzamm is a gigantic enemy. Because of this, Hammerzamm will take up every hit. In contrast to the battle against Jiao, you can actually interupt its summoning call by doing knockdown attacks like Aqua Sweep. You really need to be careful how you approach against Hammerzamm because if you are reckless, you will falter in battle.

After the battle is over, be sure to grab two Lemon Gels and 4000 Gald before you head to Leronde. Outside the clinic,be sure to talk to Jude's mom at the clinic to rest. Afterwards, go to the Seahaven for another cutscene. From there, you need to go Inside the clinic. Jude's mom will be at the front desk and she will ask you to rest up again. Before you leave to Lakutam Seahaven, there's two areas I want you to go. Head over to the inn to trigger the event, Leia's Disappearance. Second, head over to the medical archives at the clinic to trigger the event Milla and Books. Once you done your sub-events in Leronde, head over to the seahaven and embark to the next area. Just so you know, these two events are missable. The availability for Leia's disappearance is between now and when you set foot to Lakutam Seahaven. Books and Milla on the hand is between now and your arrival to Fennmont. So, do these two sidequests now.

    • Blue Sage
    • Mysterious Jewel 11
    • Mysterious Liquid x9
    • Link Ward x2
    • Veggie Sticks (Small)
    • Jet Black Feather x5
    • Soul Dividend
    • Colored Sunglasses attachment

Sidequests:

Yes, it's another wide open field complete with treasures in the middle of nowhere as well as pigeon hole tunnels on the edge on the map. Also, you get a brand new battle theme as well, woo. Anyway, there's only a couple things that you need to know about Lakutam Highroad. There are two Aifread's treasures out there. At the southwest region, near the entrance of the central region of Lakutam Highroad, examine the back part of the pillar. You should get Colored Sunglasses attachment. At the central region, go to the northwestern most point of the area and look behind the rock and you should find a skill book called Soul Dividend. Don't forget to go all the way south at the central region of Lakutam Highroad and crawl through the tunnel. You'll find Mysterious Jewel 11. Once you have those items, continue to trek through the highroad. However, you'll fight a boss.

Boss:Brutaur

It can't be a tales game until you fight a boar-type boss. Anyway, this boss is such a brute. Don't take his massive strength lightly. He often stores up power, and then charges towards your allies. This can cause serious damage. Like the previous boss, Brutaur digs in and attacks from the ground. He can also throws stones at your allies. Since the stone throwing attack can project all the way to the edge of the screen, your magic allies could be in the line of fire. Finally, when the boss is almost dead, he will begin to summon his allies.

Although the boss pattern is simple, don't underestimate his sheer strength. Fortunately, he is weak against water, so Rowen is a great character to use for this battle. You can also use Milla's Splash and Jude's Aqua Sweep to attack Brutaur. Link artes such as Splash Beam or Sharp Current can inflict significant damage. Just as long as you as you maintain your composure by healing and casting magic at a safe distance, and your melee characters is keeping Brutaur occupied, you should be able to survive the battle.

After the boss battle, go forward towards Xian Du.

Xian Du

Treasure:

    • Holy Bottle*
    • Syrup Bottle*
    • Mysterious Jewel 12

Sidequests:

  • The Spirit Clime Trouble

Before you meet the Wyverns, you can find the following treasures in the inn. Just look at drawers inside those rooms. Anyway, head northeast at the central ward of Xian Du. Head up the stairs and take the elevator and talk to the Wyverns. After the conversation, head back to the central ward and talk to the man up north who will take you to the coliseum. At the coliseum, talk to the tribe member to initate the arena battle. The first bout should be easy because you fought those enemies earlier at Lakutam Highroad. After the first bout, head for the inn to rest up. The next day, your party members plans to split up before the tournament starts.

If you are playing as Milla, head to the exit that leads to Lakutam Highlands. If you are playing as Jude, cross the bridge at the central ward. After you seen the cutscene, the bell will ring and it's time for you to go back to the coliseum. The second bout is really easy. It's basically three rounds against the monsters; nothing unusual. After that's over, you will see another cutscene. Your party will split once again. If you are playing as Milla, head southeast at the Central Ward up towards the staircase. You will have a conversation with one of your party members. If you are Jude, just head over to the bridge, lol. Afterwards, head back to the coliseum for your third bout.

Alvin and Elize will be out of your part for a bit. So, you are going have to fight the guys with Flamethrowers with the remaining four characters. Each of them have weaknesses like Water,Earth, and Wind. They are not that hard to beat them. After the battle is over, head to the Royal Hunting Ground and look for your other party members.

Sidequests:

I hope by then, you are strong enough to take on the enemies here. Anyway, I'll start from Xian Du's ferry. There's really not much to note here aside with Two of Aifread's treasure and the Devil Beasts. The first Aifread treasure is located in the North Region of the Floodmeadow. Go Northeast and it should be right where the trees are. It contains 10000 Gald. If you head south in the North Region of Xagut Floodmeadow you should see a tunnel right by the entrance to the next area. Go through the tunnel and you should find Mysterious Jewel 13.

^l14|Mysterious Jewel 13

The second of Aifread's treasure is located in the southeast region. It's located on the narrow path stuck on the cliffside. It contains, Black Dog's Muzzle attachment. If you want to fight Gatrega, go to the northeast region of Xagut Floodmeadow and take the western entrance to the southwest region. You'll fight Gatrega.

Optional Boss: Gatrega

Gatrega is very nimble and its attacks are straight forward. Most of its physical attacks will do significant damage and they come out very quickly. It'll use frolic and cavort which is a lunging attack. It uses poison claw to inflict poison damage and Cursed Fang which inflicts arteseal against you. Gatrega is weak against dark, so Elize is a valuable ally in battle. However, there's a chance that Elize will heal than using her Dark elemental attacks. Instead, use Leia's elemental impulse to imbue dark attribute to any of your ally's weapon. You are going have to be straight forward and use whatever attacks you have.

You are going have to look around at the sparkly areas as well as the items bags in order for you to get it. Unfortunately, the chances of you picking up the item is fairly slim. Another sidequest note is Punish the Poachers. It's located at the North Region in Royal Hunting Ground at the central plateau. Lastly, there are a couple of Aifread's treasure for you to grab.

Since this area does not have any floors that indicates your location, I'll call it layers. You can tell that you are going one floor to another by jumping down cliffs. At the start of the dungeon, head northwest towards sector 09 jail cell and grab Tofu Miso Soup (small) and then grab seven Giant Shells at the end of the path. After that, go northeast and grab the treasure Stone Ward at the end of the path. Anyway, cross the bridge and you should find Battle Guard along the way. Continue to go forward and you'll find a couple of small ledges to step off. The area you are on is now the second layer.

On the second layer, go to the jail cell called sector 4 and grab a treat from the treasure box. From there, head to the next cell called sector 3. Along the way, you should find Melange Gel. In the sector 3 indoor area there is a chest that contains a life bottle. Continue to cross the bridge. At the intersection where the two bridges cross, there's an Aifread's treasure nearby. Look at the pic below to see the location.

^l3| Aifread's Treasure: Goofy Glasses Attachment

Anyway, after crossing the bridge, enter sector 5 and grab a Blue Basil. just after you cross the bridge theres a chest right in front of you before you enter sector 5 with a Syrup Bottle. Then go to sector 6 and find 2000 Gald. By then, you should see Alvin and Elize from a distance. After you are reunited with them, it's time to get the hell out of the dungeon. Nope, not yet. There are several treasures worth searching. We continue to explore deeper to the dungeon. Jump down the cliff and you are now on the third layer.

At the 3rd layer, head northwest towards the jail cell called sector one. When you are inside, and you are about to enter the door at the opposite end, there's another aifread's treasure on the corner. Grab it and you get a skill book called Gifted Healer. After you grab one of Aifread's treasure, head to the door and grab the treasure that contains five jet black feathers. On the northeastern side of the 3rd layer you'll find Verbena and ten crown feathers. If you head to the bottom floor, you'll find a Middy Blouse. You'll also find 3000 Gald as well. Once you have all the treasures, feel free to leave the dungeon. You'll find numerous cutscene about a particular character's backstory. Anyway, head back to Xian Du. After the cutscene, you need to meet the King of Auj Oule. Head west towards Dargu Subterranian Passage and enter the Mon highlands.

(Thanks carlqvist for the missing treasures)

Sidequests:

Even though it's snowing, it's still a boring ass field. Anyway, there's only several things you need to know. One, the mysterious bead treasure is the first tunnel west from the Xian Du entrance. This will help you for your mission for Potent Potions of the Kitarl Clan. Second, this is the place where you can find the heart herb. Unlike the pink elephant tusk, the chances of finding an Heart Herb is fairly high. If you deviate your path, there's a silent cave. Unfortunately, you can't go any further due to the rocks in front of you. However, you can bypass the rocks in front of you. From the entrance just go straight, ignoring the tunnel to your right, and the hole will be to your right about halfway to the end. You can access the North Branch from there. The North Branch of the Mon Highlands has an Aifreads treasure behind a boulder near the NorthEast end of the map. It contains Joyful Guide. (Thanks Dale) Don't forget to grab the Elixir and 4000 Gald at the silent cave. You can explore the north region and you'll find Mysterious Jewel 15'' in the tunnel. Refer to the pic below for the location.

^l15|Mysterious Jewel 15

Lastly, Aifread's treasure is in the central region. It's stuck on the tree trunks next to the entrance to the northwest region in Mon Highlands. You get Sideburns. Anyway, continue to go forward and you will end up in Kanbalar.

Be sure to check the rooms in the inn and enter the only residential house in Kambalar for the hidden items. The one at the resident contains Mysterious Jewel 16. They all should be hidden in the drawers. Anyway, rest at the inn. After that, find Elize at the residential district. Once you are reunited with Elize, you can now do the sidequests. I suggest to do all three of the sidequests now for plot reason.

Sidequest Location Objective Reward
Real Talk After reuniting with Elize, rest at the inn once more. Cutscene None
Survival of the fittest Talk to the guardsman at the town exit Exterminate the monster near the entrance to the Silent Cave at the central region of Mon Highlands Earmuffs and 6000 Gald

After that, head to the castle. I suggest you save your game now because you will need to head out to the city real fast. Suddenly, at the town gate, you will fight two advasaries.

Boss: Wingul and Presa

A fight against two of the Chimeriads, how swell. Wingul's battle style leans more on the classic tales moveset. He comes complete with Demon Fang, Rising Phoenix, Dragon Swarm, and Severing Wind. He also has Arrivederci and Flame Ring as his magic attacks. Presa on the other hand, follows an unconventional style. She has foxtail allure to inflict confuse against your allies and uses Dragonmare claw to attack your allies from a distance. Presa uses Water attacks like Splash and Blue Sphere. Finally, she uses Guardian Field to do damage foes around her. When Presa and Wingul uses their Linked Arte, they unleash Aqua Strike. Probably the most threatening attack is their status effects. Whenever they cast magic like Flame Ring, Blue Sphere or Foxtail allure, they can dish out so many status effects at once. It doesn't help that Wingul's strength and agility is exceptional. He moves to one end to the battlefield like it's nothing and dishes out significant damage. When those two work together, it can get messy.

Fortunately, these two have weaknesses. Wingul is weak against Earth while Presa is weak against Fire. You are going have to exploit their weaknesses as much as possible. I suggest you go after Wingul first because he can wreak havoc against your allies. Use attacks like Rock Hexad, Scylla Strike and etc. for massive damage against him. Because they are human enemies, it's best to use Leia's item steal to prevent them from using items. Also, it helps to use Syrup bottle or have Elize cast recover whenever your allies have multiple status effects. Just make sure that you have control in the battle field and everything will be fine.

After you escaped from Kanbalar, head back to Xian Du and meet up with the Wyverns. Before you meet up with the wyverns, there's more sidequests for you to tackle.

Sharilton and Barnauer Highroad

Sharilton

Treasures:

  • Opal

After seeing a cutscene, you will fight a boss battle immediately...

Boss: Pterobronc

Pterobronc is another aerial type boss. Anyway, before Pterobronc's HP is below 50% of its health, he's going to do normal attacks. Be careful because its attack can cover a wide range of area. Just a spin attack alone can cover the surroundings itself. Any close-ranged fighters are vulnerable against that kind of attack. After, its HP is below 50%, he will start performing special moves. For example, it can shoot Splended laser; a dark elemental beam which inflicts terror to your allies. The you have your Hurricane Tail to do moderate wind damage. Lastly, it does carpet bombing to annoy you from the ground. This boss is fairly easy considering its size. Its weakness is water, so Rowen should participate in battle. You also have Splash Beam, Aqua Sweep and Splash to do considerable damage against Pterobronc.

After the battle, your party will split up; talk to all of your party members before setting off.

  • Rowen

  • Elize

Your wyvern will you drop in the middle of the field. Like every transitioning point in this game, there's only a few things to note. One, if you go southwest and drop down the cliff, you'll find a small tunnel leading to Mysterious Jewel 17. Look at the pic below for the location.

^l16|Mysterious Jewel 17

Next, if you head east from the Wyverns, you will head to Fort Gandala: West. There, you will find an Elixir. Secondly, if you go southeast from the entrance, examine the back part of the three boxes and you'll find Aifread's treasure. It contains Omega Elixir.

After your findings in Fort Gandala: West, continue to move forward towards the southwestern branch in Barnauer Highroad. The moment you enter from the southeast branch, hug the wall to your right, you should end up where the low-land meets with the vertical cliffs. At that area, you should find one of Aifread's Treasure, Devil Wings attachment. From there, go north towards the northwest branch. Again, just like last time, hug the wall on your right side. Continue to move forward and you should see another of Aifread's treasure on the side. It contains a skill tome: Warrior Above. Lastly, if you are doing a sidequest in Fennmont, be sure to find a meadow crystal. It's on one of the item bags found throughout the Barnauer highroad. After that, you are finally in Fennmont....

Once you have done your business, it's time to head back to the Laforte Research Center. Just go to the area where you found the Lance of Kresnik. After the cutscene, go upstairs and examine the door. After that, you need to look for Agria. She's near the Samsara Trading Post. She is on the left side. YOu cannot reach her. Instead, just stand right next to the rail and a cutscene will occur.

Boss: Agria

The start of the battle, she will be accompanied by two Auj Oule Spies. Defeat them before attacking Agria. Anyway, Agria have several fire-elemental moves. First, she loves to use attacks that targets her surroundings. Blazing and Flame Ring are examples of her dealing her foes around her. She also have Grand Fire and Fire Drill to attack one of your allies. When her health is close to zero, she will summon fire-elemental enemies. Also, did I mention that she's an item-whore? She will use items when her health is low. Lastly, when she is in overlimit and you got caught with her Pyro Helix, she will unleash her mystic arte: Pyro Storm.

Okay, she's not hard to beat, she's weak against water. Again, send Rowen in the battle field and use the strategy used against Pterobronc. Also, link up with Leia and perform a knock-down attack and steal her healing items. This will make your life a lot easier. Since this is the first time that someone use a mystic arte be sure to avoid her arcane arte.

After the battle, head to Orda Bridge and fight against several Rashugal soldiers. From there, you will enter another dungeon....

Finally Archive room 3 contains, Jet-Black Feathers, Finesse Ring, and Pearls. If you are getting off from Library Archive #3, go east at the north end of the next room. Look to your left and you should find an Aifread's treasure stuck on the wall.

^l17|Party Hat attachment

It contains Party Hat attachment. Anyway, head on the 4th floor and fight the butterflies. After that, go inside the Audience room and turn to your left. Go up the end of stairway and shift your camera west. You should see another of Aifread's treasure between the two columns.

^l18|Skill: Absolute Defense

This treasure contains a skill tome: Absolute Defense. After that, go forward. You will fight an important boss...

Boss: Nachtigal

This man is a monster. He has exceptional range and strength. Even if you were able to blindside him with Jude's Snap Pivot, he can attack you from behind. He has Destruction, Grave Worm, Shadow Lance and Terra Pike as his basic attacks. He also have Searing Arc which has an absurd amount of range. He has Massacre Arc to stab and throw your ally around. One of his most dangerous attack is Apocalyspe Toll. If you get caught by that attack, there will be a mark that counts down. When the Gauge is empty, it means severe damage to the inflicted allies. If that's not enough, he will start casting Air Pressure and Dark Vistor. When he activates his overlimit, he will begin to use Tyrant's Spear. If you get caught with Tyrant's Spear, he will unleash his mystic arte, Demon's Lance. You need to think carefully on approaching Nactigal.

He is weak against Water and Earth. You have so many options against him with having two types of weaknesses. Rowen is practically your best bet against Nactigal because he has Earth and Water magic. Also, if you have Freeze Lancer, spam that move like there is no tomorrow. Freeze lancer is an earth AND water elemental attack. This can cause severe damage against Nachtigal. Also, you have your link artes with earth and water elements. By now, you should have learned an arcane arte so you can unleash your mystic artes. Have Elize and Leia on standby in case your allies have fallen against some of the most painful attacks in battle. Other than that, you can win the battle.

After the battle, go behind the teleporter and go forward. After the cutscene, head out to Orda Palace. You will need to go to Fezebel Marsh. Unfortunately, your Wyverns flew away so you cannot fast travel anywhere else for now. Also, this marks the end of Chapter 2!

Sidequest Location Objective Reward
Wither the Wyvern Go to the location where you dropped off your Wyverns in Barnauer Highroad Cutscene None
The Library of Orda Palace Head to the 3rd floor of Orda Palace at the Library Archives. Go to the left corner of the room and trigger a cutscene Cutscene None

There's really not much to see here except for two Aifread's treasure. It's located in the central region at northeast corner. It contains Mysterious Jewel. The second Aifread's treasure is located on the northwest region of Arklund Quag. It's on the east side at it's on the tops of the trees. Lastly, if you are doing the sidemission, Doing Research for a Report, then you can get the monster fluid from the item bags.

    • Orange Gel x5
    • Life Bottle x5
    • Pineapple Gel x5
    • Lemon Gel x5
    • Panacea Bottle x5
    • Exceed

After the briefing, go forward. From there, you will fight a series of battles. After a long grueling battle, go forward and you'll find another save point. There will be two treasure boxes that will contain all of the essentials, like the one you see above. Anyway, head forward and you'll fight three of the chimeriad.

Boss:Jiao, Presa, and Wingul

If you remember your first bout with them, then you should already know their patterns. However, each of them now unleash their arcane arte. For Jiao, he uses Sundering Fang and he unleashes Resounding Surge as his Mystic Arte. Wingul uses Infernal Torrent as his arcane arte, and he unleashes his mystic arte, Lightning Nova. Lastly, Presa uses Dragonmare Head as her arcane arte. Her range with her projectiles shoots fairly far. Anyway, if your allies gets caught with her arcane attack, then she will unleash Dragonhead Brood as her mystic arte.

Again, go after Wingul first because he has high agility and strength. When you defeat Wingul, go after Jiao, and lastly Presa. What matters is that you have all the essenital elements such as wind, earth and fire to use against those three. Also, have your healers at safe distance at all times.

After the battle is over, go forward. You'll fight the leader of Chimeriad.

Boss:Gaius

Gaius is an exceptionally dangerous boss, even in Moderate difficulty. This man's moveset is badass personified. His range such Demon Fang, Sonic Thrust, and Tiger Blade have monsterous Range. He has Savage Beckoning which is a glorified version of Steel or Coil. They do considerable fire damage against his oncoming foes. Then you have his Swallow Fury. Once you get caught with his Swallow Fury, then he will spam it until your ally dies or in severe damage. If your allies dies during the move, Gaius will automatically target another of your ally regardless of range. He also have Inceration Wave. It has a very slow start up time. So, you have more than enough time to get away from the beam. At any moment, he will use his overlimit and use Blade of Heaven. If you get caught, he will unleash his Mystic Arte, Absolute Domination.

Gaius is resistant against light, so don't use any light elemental attacks. Because he has no weaknesses, this battle can be extremely grueling. Most of his attacks will do significant damage against your allies. You have to let your healers prioritize on healing. Alvin is a great person to use as support because he can destroy Gaius' guard with ease. This will give you numerous opportunities to do devastating attacks. You really need to use all of your available skills against him or you can forefit the match and beat the crap out of you. However, you wouldn't want that, right? If you decided to forfeit, you'll miss out significant amount of EXP as well as the item Exceed.

After this battle, Jude and Milla will part ways. Note: after they are reunited at a certain point of the story, you can actually go to their respective dungeon and grab any items from there.

Tulea Field/Kukhar Ice Caverns

Tulea Field (Jude's Side)

Treasure:

  • Peach Pie
    • Jet Black Feathers x5
    • Red Saffron
    • 4000 Gald
    • Swordsman Eyepatch attachment
    • Omega Elixir

At the start, Muzét will direct-tether with Jude. Gameplay-wise, Jude will have access an attack called Muzét, which is a tetra-elemental attack. The attack has an exceptional start-up time. It comes out almost instantaniously. It can do wonders against bosses and enemies with multiple weaknesses. Anyway, you cannot use the area map. However, you still have the mini-map available, so you cannot get lost. Tulea Field is very straight forward. There's not much to see here. Again, there's two of Aifread's treasure in this area. The first Aifread treasure is in the south region of Tulea field. It should be located southwest from the save point. You should see Aifread's treasure stuck on the pine tree. Grab it and you'll get Swordsman Eyepatch attachment. The second Aifread treasure is in the north region. Near the entrance to Kuhkar Ice Caverns, head southwest and hug the wall. Aifread's treasure is latched from the rock; you'll get Omega Elixir.

Kukhar Ice Caverns (Jude's Side)

Treasure:

  • Aqua Cape
    • Mushroom Powder x7
    • Life Bottle x2
    • Treat
    • Jet-Black Feathers x11
    • Gothic Plate
    • Takoyaki Ramen (Small)
    • Monster Fluid x5
    • Rosy Cheeks attachment
    • 10000 Gald

At the first T-intersection go left. Up ahead, you'll find seven Mushroom Powders. Then, continue to move forward and jump down the cliff. On your left, you'll find two life bottles. After the cutscene, you will reunite with Elize and Alvin. Also, you'll have your mini map back. After you got your map back, proceed to the central region of Kukhar Ice Caverns. After going down the cliff, the path path splits into three. Take the path to your right. At the inner-curve, one of Aifread's treasure is attached on the wall next to the three ice pillars. You'll recieve the Rosy Cheeks attachment. Anyway, if you continue to move east, you'll find a Treat. After that, go straight and along the way, you you should find five Jet black feathers as well as a Gothic plate. Near the entrance to the next area, you'll find Takoyaki Ramen (Small). At the lake side area, you are going to fight a boss...

Boss: Aqua Dragon x2

Woo, another tandem bosses. Anyway, these bosses can be a pain in the butt if you are not careful. First, they have coral blade, which they use their blade like scales to attack their foes from their front and back. Mental Scratch inflicts a status effect on your allies. Then they have their splash breath to shoot out water cannon projectile to your allies. Also, they have a defense mechanism where the aqua dragon lunges forward to break themselves from being comboed to death. Perhaps the most threatening attack is Spiral breath. They latch their bodies together and shoot their splash beams in a circular fashion. The beam covers most of the battlefield, so you need to be careful.

The main tactic in this bout is focus on one of the Aqua Dragons and beat the crap out of it. If one of them falls, then the remaining Aqua Dragon will fend for itself. Even so, they have a glaring weakness: fire elemental attacks. So, individual fire attacks Arc Fire, Abyssal Inferno, and Phoenix Plunge will work effectively. Also, linked artes such as Inferno Dance will do wonders against the Aqua Dragons. It also helps that Elize uses Negative Gate to keep the two aquadragons in place.

After the battle, go forward. At the north region of Kukhar Ice Caverns, go west and get five Monster Fluid. Then go east and you'll find six Jet Black Feathers. Lastly, be sure to get the second Aifread Treasure by going to the northeast corner of the figure 8 shaped road. Look at the walls and you'll obtain 10000 Gald. After that, exit and you'll go to Xailen Woods/Xailen Temple

Treasure:

  • Vicehein, The Howler (Alvin)

After a certain point of the game, you can fight Schweiss at the large intersection in Xailen Woods.

Optional Boss: Schweiss

This is perhaps one of the tougher Devil Beasts out there. First off, Schweiss is extremely agile and physically powerful. He can run anywhere on the battlefield and get rid of your ally as quickly as possible. Also, his attack range is very extensive. He can use its antlers and its tail to attack with exceptional range. It can thrust its body forward as a way to get himself out of the attack from your allies. Next, it uses Thunder Rain to shoot lightning from various angles. For example, the lightning bolts can be used forwards or backwards, inflicting fire/wind damage to your allies. Close to death, it'll start using Expanding Field. Honestly, I don't know what this does. Anyway, this boss is weak against fire. So, use Inferno Dance, Sunburst, Rowen's Fireball and etc. to do significant damage. This boss uses physical attacks to kill you. So, be on your toes at all times.

Boss: Gilland and Celsius

Gilland is the long range attacker of the pair. He has numerous elemental projectiles like Stalagmite, Poison Shell, Scatter Bolt, and Incendary arc. he also have Squall Shot to cover a wide range of area. Whenever he unleashes his overlimit, he can use Merciless Trigger as his Arcane Arte. Fortunately, he cannot use Mystic Artes. So, it's just going to do big damage against your allies. Secondly, he has Banishing Ray which is a light elemental beam which he swings his gun at a 180 arc. This can do significant damage to your allies across the screen. Lastly, he has heal shot where he can heal his ally instantaniously.

Celsius on the other hand perfers a close range combat. She has Swallow Dance, Ice Raid, Ice Claws, and Tri-Blade Thrust. Note that Tri-Blade Thrust can inflict a three hit combo even if you are down. She has several long range attacks like Frost Spear Slide which leaves a trail of icicles within its path. Ice Blade Deluge is when Celsius summons blades of ice and inflicts moderate damage to your allies. When she is close to death, she will begin to use Ice Calamity which is an Ice Barrier. After a short period of time, the block of ice will shatter into pieces leaving shrapnel of ice pieces flying all over the place. This can do heavy damage to your allies. Lastly, when Celsius begins to use her overlimit, she unleashes her arcane arte, Ice Prison, where she grabs one of your allies and inflict heavy water damage against you. Also, when Gilland and Celsius team up, they'll unleash their linked arte, Perfect Exile, which is a wide range beam attack.

In this battle, you need to focus on Gilland first before taking on Celsius. Gilland can heal very quickly. Since he wields a gun, he can interupt your physical and magical artes. Also, Gilland is weak against Earth. So, use any earth based attacks to overwhelm him. After you defeat Gilland, go after Celsius immediately. She's weak against fire so use any fire-based attack against her. Killing Gilland first is a top priority in battle. So, do what you can

After the battle is over, Milla and Jude will split off once more for plot reasons. This marks the end of chapter 3.

Milla's Shrine: Spirit World

Treasures:

  • Mystic Emblem

Boss: Muzét

She may have a small amount of HP, but it's a grueling battle nevertheless. Many of her physical artes are exceptionally quick and do significant damage. She likes to use Sharpened Petals after she gets knocked down or tries to break out your combo. She also have Sharpened Roots to do 3+ ground damage against your allies within rage. She does Illusionary Charge as an attempt to escape danger or a lunging attack against your allies. Muzét uses regular magic artes like Dark Visitor and Gravity Well to do some magic attack against you. If her health is close to 33%, then she will begin to use Soul Absorption which depletes all TP to foes surrounding Muzét. She will use Sharpened whip which inflicts a quick 6 hit combo. If that's not enough, she uses Elemental Hymns which is a multi-elemental attack. If you get caught with that during her overlimit, she will unleash her mystic arte, event horizon.

Perhaps this your first encounter with her. If this is your first battle with Musét, then listen up. I hope you have Aerial Dash Equipped because you will be using it a lot. You are fighting against Musét with Milla alone. Rushing in is extremely risky because of Musét's Sharpened Petals. If you really have to confront Musét up close, then do aerial attacks. Attacks like Lightning, Wind Blade (Cyclone Version), Particle Rondo and Cloud Pierce will work well against her. This will give you an opportunity to get away before she unleashes Sharpened Petals. Just because she is weak against light, it doesn't mean that you spam on Light elemental magic attacks. She is agile enough to move away from Divine Streak and Shining Prism. If you are feeling very frustrated, then you can use Undine and shoot her aquatic beam towards Musét. It does a lot of damage and it's fast enough to attack from a distance. Just keep an eye on your TP and assess the situation carefully.

At the end of the battle, Musét will retreat. This isn't end of Milla's trip at the Spirit World. You need to go the Hollowmont. Click the link for the next segment of Milla's playthrough: Nia Khera Hollowmont

sidequests:

  • Soldiers Who Use the Spyrix (Missable)

After a series of long cutscenes, you'll fight a boss battle immediately. For the sake of the plot, I set up a spoiler box. Please highlight if you want to look up for general strategy for this boss...

Spoiler. Highlight text to view

Boss: Alvin

This battle is similar to the Gaius fight. Regardless of the outcome of the battle, the game continues on. However, if you are the type of person who wants to win the fight, then keep reading. Knowing Alvin, he have loads of strength and fairly good range with his sword and gun. He's going to perform most of his artes against you. What sucks is that Alvin can use overlimit without a partner, and he can unleash his Terminous Pride against you. Anyway, the battle is a lot like the Ivar battle back at Sapstrath Seahaven. If you can time your backsteps correctly, you can do significant damage against Alvin. If you plan to heal, be sure to do it at a safe distance or while Alvin is doing an attack. When he is doing his long range attack like Squall Shot or Cross Cleave, it's best to do free-run to avoid his attack. In conclusion, it's more on evasive manuevers and attack when your foe is wide open, So, don't crack under pressure.

After the battle is over, you need to go to Fennmont. What's awesome is that you now have access to free travel. Before that, be sure you have one sidequest here in Hamil.

Sidequest Location Objective Reward
Soldiers Who Use the Spyrix In Hamil, go to the Western Orchard and examine the area where the incident happened Cutscene Spirit Fossil Husk

Fennmont: The third visit

Treasure:

  • Psychic Ring

Sidequests

  • Those Who Act in Shadow: Part II
    • Homing Instinct
    • Sustaining Anxiety (Missable)

After arriving in Fennmont, do your business. You have several sidequests to do before moving on to the story. If you are ready, go to Fennmont Seahaven and talk to Wingul.

Sidequest Location Objective Reward
Those Who Act in Shadow: Part II The skit To the Talim Medical School indicates that another sidequest is available in Fennmont. Go to the Talim Med school and talk to Mr. Eldin at the lobby Cutscene None
Homing Instinct If you have done the previous sidequest, Whither the Wyvern, then go to Xian Du at the Northeast corner of the Central District where you first met the Wyverns Cutscene None
Sustaining Anxiety Go to the inn at Fennmont and rest Cutscene None

After looking the cutscene, you'll fight another boss....

Boss: Muzét

This boss is pain in the ass. Muzét uses regular magic artes like Dark Visitor, Roche Waltz or Diffusional Drive to do some magic attack against you. If her health is close to 33%, then she will begin to use Soul Absorption which depletes all TP to foes surrounding Muzét. If that's not enough, she uses Elemental Hymns which is a multi-elemental attack. In this battle, she might use Event Horizon against you. (Honestly, I got hit by Elemental Hymn so many times in this bout, and not once she used Event Horizon against me)

Since you are fighting Muzét with a group, the battle should be managable. Whenever you hit Muzét, you have to instinctively block or evade because she will use it numerous times. Since she is weak against light elemental attacks, it's best to use Divine Streak or Sunspark. Unfortunately, light magics are uncommon elements. So, use Leia's Elemental impulse to embue your weapon to light elemental. Also, when she uses Soul Absorption, be sure to move far away as possible since she depletes your TP like mad. This battle you need to react quickly when she does her sharpened petals.

After the battle, go to Milla's Shrine for the next area...

The Hallowmont

Milla's Shrine (Jude's Side)

When you enter the area, you will be greeted to yet another boss!

Boss: Ivar and the Wyvern

For the most part, Ivar's boss pattern remains the same as the previous bout except that he hits much quicker now. Also, he has an arcane arte called "Crushing Eagle". It's an earth-based attack which pulsates a shockwave beneath Ivar's Knives. If anyone is caught by the crushing eagle during his overlimit, then Ivar will do his Mystic Arte, Shimmerfang Impact. The Wyvern on the other hand is annoying. While Ivar is hacking away with his speed, the Wyvern will move around and troll your allies. For example, Elize is in the middle of her healing spell and the Wyvern just suddenly rushes towards her. The Wyvern will also do poison dragonspit which can do damage to your allies.

Seriously, go after Ivar first. Ivar is weak against Wind, so Whirlwind Snap, Cyclonic Surge and Tempest Pirouette will work well against Ivar. The Wyvern on the other hand, is weak against earth. Air Pressure and Scylla Strike will do. The Wyvern is more likely going to be derpy throughout the battle since it stands around occassionally. Just take out either Ivar and the Wyvern and you'll survive the battle.

After beating Ivar, enter the Shrine and go behind the curtain and you'll end up at Nia Khera Hollowmont.

Nia Khera Hollowmont

At this point, this is where Milla and Jude's side begin to merge. Depending which protagonist you choose, some of the treasures will be different from one another.

If you are playing as Milla, you are going have to wait after a certain event to retrieve Aifread's treasures as well as the rest of the treasures at the Hollowmont.

Treasures:

  • Specific
    • Everbloom x10 (Jude Only)
    • Platinum Guard (Jude Only)
    • Hourglass (Milla Only)
    • Jet Black Feather x4 (Jude Only)
    • Jet Black Feather x5 (Milla Only)
    • Red Lavender
    • Platinum Cloak (Jude Only)
    • Creamy Beef Bowl (Small)
    • 4000 Gald
    • Psychic Ring (Jude Only)
    • Intelligence Ring (Jude Only)
    • Father's Memento (Jude Only)
    • Angel Wings Attachment
    • Dark Seal

After climbing the very first vine, look at the rock at the right corner. Behind it lies Aifread's Treasure, Angel Wings Attachment. After that, climb up the cliff. After climbing the small cliff, you'll find a small tunnel on your left. It leads to a treasure that contains a Specific. Continue to move forward. Before climbing the vine, there should be another tunnel in front of you. If you are playing as Milla in the spirit world, then there's should be only one treasure, the Hourglass. If you are playing as Jude, you'll get 10 Everblooms as well as Platinum Guard. Climb the vine and there should be another treasure on your left side. If you playing as Milla, you get Five Jet-Black Feathers while Jude recieves Four Jet-Black Feathers.

At the Half-Point, climb the vine and you should see another tunnel ahead of you. At the end of the tunnel contains a Red Lavender. Climb up the second vine, you should see a treasure on your right side which contains a Platinum Cloak. Unfortunately, Milla cannot get the Platinum Cloak because it does not exist in the spirit world. Anyway, after climbing the vine, there should be a tunnel in front of you. After crawling through the tunnel, you should see a treasure in front of you. It contains Creamy Beef Bowl (Small). If you shift your camera to your left, you should see one of Aifread's treasure, the Dark Seal. If you are playing as Milla, you can't see it at all. Anyway, proceed forward and you should find 4000 Gald along the way.

When you get to the summit, Jude will fight two bosses and enter the Temporal Crossroads while Milla will fight Maxwell immediately!

Boss: Agria and Presa (Jude Only)

The two bosses should have the same pattern as the previous bout. This time, Agria and Presa can unleash their Linked Arte, Raging Mist. This battle is a battle of numbers because Agria can summon monsters at any time. This can be a distraction for you. So, focus on Agria and then Presa. Finish off any monsters you see on the battle Field.

Temporal Crossroads (Jude Only)

Treasures

  • Apple Gel (Max Quantity)
    • Orange Gel (Max Quatity)
    • Life Bottle (Max Quantity)
    • Elemental

When you are at the Temporal Crossroads, be sure to follow the Green Orbs and run to the blue orb on the other side. When you are in the second area, go forward until you see the Red Orb and go forward. At the end of the path, you should see three orbs on each end. The orbs contain, Apple Gels, Orange Gels, and Life Bottles. Best of all, you will gain the maximum amount for each of the items. Once you are done, jump down the blue pillar. From there, you will fight an important boss.

Maxwell

Boss: Maxwell

This is where the two paths will merge. However, until Milla joins in, the first bout is a scripted battle. Maxwell will do all sorts of cheap stuff like of time stop for a long period of time and he casts Sunburst. Anyway, if you are playing as Jude, it's best not to waste your items until Milla comes in. Anyway, this boss strategy will start at the second bout.

Maxwell have four elemental modes: Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth. Each of them contain different movesets. Each of the elements will have a glorified version of Milla's spirit shift artes such Flare Bomb, Grave, Aqua Protection, and Wind Blade. He will change his elemental mode often, so read up the individual elements for reference.

  • Fire Mode
He has Flame Vanguard which is a powerful close range fire attack. He casts Sunburst as an all range magic attack. Be sure to use Magic Guard to block its attack. During fire mode, Maxwell is weak against Water.

  • Water Mode
He casts Diffusional Drive to hit a large area against you. During Water mode, he will use Soul Absorption which depletes a significant amount of TP to anyone surrounding Maxwell. Be sure to stay far away from Maxwell during Soul Absorption. During Water mode, Maxwell is weak against Fire

  • Wind Mode
This mode is a evasive type. He will use Wind Cloak when Maxwell is overwhelmed against the enemy, he will teleport himself out of danger. He uses Trinity Drive and shoot wind projectiles to your allies. He also uses Cyclone to damage against your allies. During Wind mode, Maxwell is weak against Earth

  • Earth Mode
He will use Binding Sphere which creates 6 spheres around him. If you let it drop, it'll do significant damage as well as being in a stunlocked position. He has Sonic Breaker to attack anyone who is within Maxwell's proximity. He has Roche Waltz to interupt anyone's attacks from any part of the battlefield. During earth mode, Maxwell is weak against Wind

Regardless which mode he uses, any of his attacks acts as an arcane arte. If you get hit with any of his attacks during his overlimit, he will unleash his mystic arte, Meteor Storm. You are going to do all what you can to reduce elemental damage. Equip Fire, Water, Earth and Wind Guard from your skill list to have some protection against elemental artes. Also, it helps to use Magic Guard to reduce magic attacks. During any mode, use the elemental attacks opposite from Maxwell. Rowen will be useful in this battle since he has auto magic guard as well his arsenal of attacks. The key of this battle is being adaptive during battle.

After the battle, you will transport to another world....

In the north region of Torbalan Highroad, go north and examine the trees, you'll find another of Aifread's treasure, Hunter's Monocle attachment.

Here's an interesting note about one particular enemy in the central region of Torbalan Highroad. There's a large insect on the east end of the area. It may not be a part of the elusive Devil Arm beasts, but defeating it will reap you an important item, Mysterious Jewel.

Optional Boss: Veywind Eye

Yikes, this boss hits extemely hard and it got extensive range as well. Get too close of its head and you might get hit by its slash arm or a cross breaker. If you get hit by cross breaker, you will get stun as well. It can use its tail and utilize it as an extension of its body. If that's not enough, it will use Stone Powder to petrify your allies.

This boss will deplete your allies health very quickly due to its enormous strength. Fortunately, since the boss have a large stature, you can perform attacks where you can fully connect all the hits like Lightning Strike, Force Wave and Etc. Alvin will be a vital team member in battle becauce Veywind Eye likes to block a lot. Despite of Veywind Eye exceptional physical strength, he's actually fairly easy if you know what to do. Don't forget that Veywind Eye drops Mysterious Jewel 20 as your reward.

Anyway, just continue to go forward until you hit Helioborg Fortress...

At Sector 5, you'll notice that there's the save point. However, that's not the intended destination. Instead, go southwest and it'll lead you to sector 6. On Sector 6, go to your left and you'll find a Heavy Treat. Backtrack all the way to Sector 3 and head southwest to sector 4. On Sector 4, go to your right and examine the right-hand corner. You should find Aifread's Treasure stuck between two walls. Grab it and it contains Harold Mask attachment. Then run all the way to the opposite end leading to sector 2. You should see another small room along the way. However, before you go in, be sure to grab the Resistance Symbol. Anyway head back to door and enter the door in sector 4.

Inside the Military Research Wing: 1st floor passageway, there are two rooms. If you go south, you'll find 7000 Gald. =======

After obtaining most of the treasures here in Helioborg fortress, it's time to go back on the 13th floor and fight the boss.

Boss: Volt

Obviously, it's a lightning elemental type. He has all sorts of moves that will deal damage to your allies. Volt has Thunder Volley, which is a slow moving projectile. He also do an electrical discharge where Volt unleashes six bolts of lightning to anyone within close proximity. He bounces around like a ball and produces lightning every time Volt touches the ground. He also shoots forth lightning from the sky occassionally. Lastly, he unleashes Banishing Volt to strike down anyone within the battlefield. Yeah, lots of awesome moves, but they are all lightning elemental.

Volt should be very easy to take down because he has two weaknesses, Water and Earth. Rowen should be a vital member of the group for this battle. You can use Glacial Core. However, I suggest that you use Freeze Lancer because he can throw out multiple ice projectiles at once. If you plan to use Rowen for the entire battle, just attack from a distance. If you like to go up close, then use any water or earth based attacks and Volt should fall very quickly.

After the battle, you'll end up at Sector 3 at the Helioborg Fortress. It's time to move on and head to Rusalle Highroad.

Helioborg Fortress: The Devil Beast Attacks

Treasures:

  • Melandetta, the Death Bringer (Rowen)

Optional Boss: Melanbron

Basically, go to the 13th floor where you fought Volt. You'll trigger a sidequest which is also part of the Devil Beast sidequest. Anyway, if you let Melabron use Thunder Clad, then it'll increase its strength. It will use dig to act as a defense mechanism. It uses electroshock skull to attack from a distance. It can use thunderblow to attack its surrounding foes. It also uses Thunder Stav to hit 3+ thunder attack to anyone who is within its attack range. Finally, it uses Thunder Blessing which is a wide 180 lightning Arc which inflicts fire/wind damage against your aliies. A lot of Melanbron's attacks has a slow start-up, so use it to your advantage. Melabron's weakness is water, so Rowen is a vital part of the team on this one. Use water elemental attacks like Blue Moon Burst, Sharp Current, Splash Beam and etc. to deal damage against Melanbron. You should be able to survive this battle.

Rusalle Highroad

Treasures:

  • Treat
    • Heavy Treat
    • 6000 Gald
    • Pot au Feu (Large)
    • Jet Black Feather x4
    • Guardian Symbol
    • Lemon Gel x3
    • Miracle Gel
    • Red Saffron
    • Migrant Plume x7
    • Meadow Crystal x6
    • Mysterious Jewel 22 (Graddic Claw)
    • Rare Boots
    • Collar Attachment
    • Musét's Knife (After Dimensional Beach)
    • Omega Elixir (Temporal Crossroads)
    • All-Divide (Temporal Crossroads)

Sidequests

You know the drill, there are treasures throughout the field. Be sure to check for tunnels on the side. There's two Aifread treasures, a rare monster and a pathway to Tatalian Abyss. The first Aifread treasure lies at the central region. There should be a huge rock pillar near the center. From there, go northeast and look at the wall. You should be able to find a Collar Attachment. The second Aifread's treasure is located at the North Region of Rusalle Highroad. Head over to the save point towards Tatalian Abyss. At the save point, move EAST towards the trees. You should see Aifread's Treasure on one of the trees. It contains a Rare Boots. In the same area, you get to fight the Graddic Claw near the Tatalian Abyss entrance.

Boss: Graddic Claw

This boss sort of resembles the Eggbear boss from Tales of Vesperia. Anyway, he's giantic for starters with high physical strength, but slow as molasses. He pounds the ground and does significant damage. He uses Assault claw as his spcial attack. Then Graddic Claw uses Wild Voice to deal damage to your ally from a distance. For mobility, Graddic Claw uses Rush Bumper to deal damage. If Graddic Claw is close to death, he will use Wild Pressure to do a full body slam to his foes.

Really, this battle should not be hard for you despite of his HP and physical defense. Use any long-range attacks to deal damage to Graddic Claw. Use Snap Pivot to evade his attacks. Just do whatever you can and you should be able to defeat this boss with ease. You'll get the elusive Mysterious Jewel 22 as your reward.

At this point, you can go Tatalian Abyss or go to the Dimensional Beach. After the event at the Dimensional Beach, go to Trigleph and rest up. At this point, you can do a few more sidequests before you set off. At the Dimensional Beach, you now have access to the Temporal Crossroads. You can go back to Rieze Maxia and finish off all the sidequests available.

    • Mysterious Jewel
    • Superhero Belt Attachment
    • Pink Emerald (Item Spawn)

Sidequests

The Pink Emerald is located in one of the item spawning points. At the start of the dungeon go southwest at the first T-intersection. You should be able to find seven Magical Ores. From there go forward; you should be able to see a small cutscene. Before entering to the next area, you should be able to find 20 Copper Ores. Climb down the ladder and examine the wind stone. After you destroyed the wind stone, jump down the cliff and break the Earth Seal. From there you will enter to the first basement floor of the Tatalian Abyss.

On B1 of the Tatalian Abyss, touch the wind stone. Go north and head west at the intersection. Along the way you'll find eight Ancient Corals and five Sapphire Shells. Then go south and go east at the next intersection. At the southeast corner of the map, Aifread's Treasure is near by. It's latched on a wooden box. Grab it and you'll get Superhero Belt attachment. Anyway, go up the ladder and you'll find five Hair of the Sacred Beast. Jump down the cliff and you'll break the earth seal.

On B2 of the Tatalian Abyss, go the southeastern most point of the map. This should lead you to the wind stone. On your way there, there should be a small cliff on the left side and it should two Strange Cores. Then, go northeast and climb the cliff, you'll find a Red Sage. After you obtained the Red Sage, jump down the cliff and destroy the earth seal. On the B3 of the Tatalian Abyss, make left turn at the intersection and then go east at the next intersection. Immediately after the narrow corridor lies the the second Aifread's treasure at the left-hand corner. It should contain a Mysterious Jewel. Destroy the wind stone and grab the 10000 Gald from the treasure chest. Then go south. On the right hand corner, you should be able to find ten Jet Black Feathers. Anyway, climb the cliff and you'll find three Dragon Ashes. Jump off the cliff and destroy the earth seal. From there, go north and climb the cliff on the right side. Walk the wooden planks and you'll find a Blue Sephira. Enter the room, on the bottom floor, you'll fight the boss at the end of this area. WARNING: you are going to fight a devil beast!

Tatalian Abyss: Depths

Boss: Devil Beast Dranzort

Dranzort loves to use its tail in battle. It'll spin 360 degrees and attack its foes within range. It can also attack a single foe with a simple tail whip. It can also dig through the ground and attack. There's a couple more attacks to watch out for like Spit Bomb, which is a fire attack. Lastly, there's Shock Howling which inflicts damage as well as stun.

Well, it's like the enhanced version of the regular dragons found in the Abyss. Its weakness is Wind, so, Whirlwind Snap, Slyph, Tempest Pirouette, and Wind Blade will do the trick. It shouldn't take too long until it falls. Anyway, as part of the Devil Beasts, you'll get Milla's Devil arm: Dranduo, the Howling Beast.

After the battle, you cleared out the Miasma. This ends the sidequest, the gathering miasma.

Fort Gandala: Sub-Event

Treasures:

  • Spirit Negation

Note: If you are interested with grabbing the treasures here from the other side of Fort Gandala, then check out Fort Gandala.

To initiate the sidequest, you must go to Sharilton and talk to Driselle outside the lord Cline Manor. After you agree to go on the sidequest, warp over to Fort Gandala via Talys Highroad entrance. After the cutscene, enter the Fort. The second control room is located north at the save point facing towards the Talys Highroad. Enter the room and grab the booster. After grabbing the booster, head to the main area and fight the golems.

Optional Boss: Gandala Defense Golem #1 and #2

You are going to fight the golems two at the time. Gandala Defense Golem #1 is a fire elemental type monster. It has Flare Drop kick which does a severe fire attack on any allies within range. Also, it does Fire Crush. It'll create a ball of fire and punches it with all of its might. Similarly, Gandala Defense Golem #2 is a water-type. It has an Aqua uppercut which inflicts water damage to your allies. It has Aqua Crush which is a water elemental version of Fire Crush. Anyway, aside with elemental differences, it shares several moves. For instance, the Golem extends its arms and spins around to inflict damage to its foes. When it tries to get out of a combo, it does an attack called Struggle Booster which thrusts its body forward and damage anyone whoever crosses its path. Even if you defeat one of them, another Golem will pop out. You need to take down all four golems to win.

This battle shouldn't take too long. Exploit their elemental weakness and stand on your ground. They will do significant damage, but their attacks are way too slow to be a threat.

After the battle is over, you can now fully explore the entire fort. If you are Milla, now's a good time to grab the remaining Aifread treasures in this Fort. Anyway, after the battle, go back to Sharilton and talk to Driselle. She will give you Spirit Negation as your reward.

The Devil Beasts: Sub-Event

Somewhere around 15-17% of the game, you met a crazy old man in Sapstrath Seahaven who tells you about the Devil Beasts. Throughout your journey, you happen to cross paths with them and die in a miserable death. You are close to the end of the game, so, you should be able to take them on. If you win, you get their Devil Arms. There are six Devil Beasts throughout Rieze Maxia and Elyimpios.

Boss LocationDevil Arm
Folzam Bermia Gorge: Northwest Region Folzex, the Grudge Bearer (Jude)
Dranzort Tatalian Abyss: Depths Dranduo, the Howling Beast (Milla)

After gathering all 23 Mysterious Jewels, you will fight two bosses.

Optional Boss: Crimson Servant and Azure Servant

Sheesh, these bosses like to do instant death on your allies. Chaotic soul unleashes multiple projectiles to your allies. Crimson Servant uses Chaotic Soul to shoot projectiles at a straight line creating a pillar while the Azure Servant likes to use it as a homing attack. Azure Servant likes to use Negative Gate to inflict fear to your allies. Crimson Servant on the other hand likes to use Dark Soul to unleash a flurry of blades against your ally. Both of them like to spam on Tail Rush to stab your ally to death. When they are being comboed to death, they like to teleport out of danger.

Expect to see lots of dying here in this battle. They will do what it takes to bring you down. So, I suggest that you bring Elize along and use Dispel. If not, use Panacea bottle to prevent yourself from instant death. I hope by now that you have Leia's Multi-item ability. This will be vital considering the nature of the bosses. Anyway, the weakness for the two bosses are the opposite element. Crimson Servant with water and Azure Servant with fire. Exploit their weakness and hope that you do not get caught with their tail rush attack.

After the battle is over, you gain one new arte for Jude, Blunt Fang.

Coliseum

At this point, your characters should be strong enough to take on the coliseum. You get lots of cool stuff if you manage to go through a series of battles. However, if you are struggling, you can always adjust the difficulty to easy.

Coliseum General Tips

1) Obviously, don't be on the edge of the battlefield for too long because you are in the risk for falling off the ledge.

2) Use attacks that can hit at a wide range. For instance, Jude's Shattering Demon Fist, Milla's Gnome, Alvin's Demon Inferno, Rowen's Tidal Wave, Elize's Negative Gate, and Leia's Crescent Flash

3) It also helps when you use attacks with significant knockdown effect. For example, Jude's Beast or Elize's Teepo Roar.

4) There are two enemies to lookout for in Advance Single. Red Dragon and Unicorn. Both of the enemies have attacks that are capable of knocking you out of the ring. For instance, Red Dragon uses its fire-breath to blast you across the screen. Unicorn on the other hand uses its Hind legs to knock you over. When they appear in the ring, immediately go after them and ignore everyone else. Encountering the Red Dragon or the Unicorn are one the reasons why some players die frequently in the coliseum.

  • Jude

When you are using Jude for single battle, be sure to use your arcane artes for two reasons. One, it does significant damage and second, it does considerable knockdown damage. Shattering Demon Fist will have the widest range in Jude's arsenal. Savage Roar on the other hand will do a number of hits and he stays in the save spot after his attack animation finishes. Obviously, don't try to use snap pivot on the edge of the ring because you are in the risk for ring out.

  • Milla

Be sure to use your summons in battle. They will prove useful throughout your bout. Spirit-Shift artes will also be useful as well considering its instantanious casting time.

  • Alvin

Demon Inferno and Dark Radiance are two useful artes in battle. Not only they deal significant damage and have a powerful knockback.

  • Elize

The first thing you do is cast Revive on yourself before taking on your foes. This will act as a safety net in case you die in the coliseum. Once you use it up, feel free to cast it again. Anyway, use Teepo Roar to knock back enemies. As your offense, use Negative Gate, Dread Winds, and Dark Visitor.

  • Rowen

Be sure to use Basic magic artes like Fireball, Splash, as well as Wind Lance and use its tuning attack to optimize your survivibility in the coliseum. If you equip the skill Queued Spellcasting, you can use it to resume your spells in case the situation is unfavorable. Tidal Wave is a must in this battle because it can hit everyone on the battlefield.

  • Leia

Not much to say here, other than using her physical artes. Crescent Flash seems to be an effective move against your opponents and have some knock-back effect. If things gets messy, use Soulstroke Spin to get yourself out.

For the most part, you should be able to do fine with your playstyle.

Note: Once you pass the point of no return, you will not have any opportunity to stock up on items or find anyone to steal from. So, I suggest you turn-off auto item from your allies because item management will be the key in this dungeon.

Before taking off, I suggest you do one last adjustment. In your skill list, I suggest to equip everyone with HP and TP surge as well as their overlimit abilities. Also, I suggest to equip their optimal skills; for Leia's case, multi-item will be a great use because this will help you manage your items. Lastly, for the sake of conservation, turn off auto items for everyone but Leia. Anyway, let's move on. Once you make that decision there's no turning back. The first boss you;ll fight is Wingull.

Boss: Wingul

This is your third bout with him and no matter how strong he is, his boss pattern remains the same. So, just do the same strategy like you did last time.

After defeating Wingul, your party will split up. Milla and Jude will split up as well, but the items they get remains the same. Anyway, it's a straight line and you'll find most of items you see above. At the end of the path, you'll fight Gaius and Musét.

Boss: Gaius (Jude Only) Musét (Milla Only)

Depending on what your protagonist you choose, you'll fight one of them. Their battle strategy remains same like you did the first time. However, they are much stronger than before. Playing defensively will be the key in this battle because you want to save everything for the final battle. I suggest that you control Milla in this battle that way when you die, there's a chance that Jude will revive you with his restore skill. Remember, if you plan to use your items, you really need to keep a close eye on it.

After the battle is over, continue to move forward until the end of the path. This is where you will fight the final boss...

Final Boss: Gaius and Musét

Both of them are powered up. They also gain several new moves. Gaius gains Eradication Sweep which is a 180 arc attack and light of Ruin which he rains down spears of light. Musét now gains Binding Sphere and Gravity Well. Because they are together in battle, they gained three Link artes: Twin Lance, Wyrm Wrath and Flight of Kings. Each of them do severe damage to your allies. I want you to focus on this particular Link arte called "Flight of Kings". This move will be spammed to death against you. Once you are caught by that attack, you WILL die against this attack. Next, Muset loves to use her items in battle. At a certain point in battle, she will use her healing items to restore her HP as well as Gaius. Lastly, if Musét dies, she will revive herself with Angel Cry.

At the start of the battle, it's only Jude and Milla. Gradually, your characters will come in and start the battle with their Mystic Arte. When all your characters are present in battle, time to kick ass. Your first priority is to steal all of Muzét restoration items. So, link up with Leia and knock Musét down with your knockdown attacks like Aqua Sweep. Once you are able to steal her items, it's time to take the offense. Gaius is weak against Darkness while Musét is weak against light. So, exploit their weakness with your elemental attacks. Be sure to have Leia's item capabilites ready because this will prove useful in battle. Have Elize prioritize on healing and less on Spirit Artes. You can link up with Rowen and cushion Musét's magic attacks. Don't forget to use Alvin's Breaker to destroy Gaius's defense. Lastly, use Milla and Jude's special abilities to overwhelm Gaius and Musét. Once one of them falls, everything else will set in.

After you beat the final boss, you have a clear data. You'll also gain a Golden Key, Skill Tome: Tremorous Fist, Spirit Surge and your only in-game costume for Jude. You beat the game, now pat yourself in the back. You still got your post game....
