Introduction

Hello, and welcome to my latest GameBoy FAQ. (Looks like I'm starting a bit of a streak here. >_>) This FAQ is for Ant Soldiers. Ant Soldiers is a bit of a surprising game to me, primarily for one reason: its developer, Sachen, is a rather prolific maker of unlicensed games for the NES/GB, most of which are often plagiarized and/or pornographic. Very rarely have we seen a fully legitimate game from them. In fact, I've only seen one: Dancing Blocks on the NES, which actually wasn't that bad. Ant Soldiers is itself pretty unique - at least as far as I know - and a thought-provoking puzzle game, which makes me question why Sachen never really got into making their own games. I mean, they've made more bad/illegal games than most companies make of just games. Then again, this game provides a glitchy (and several times impassable) experience, not to mention that Sachen clearly never thought about 40 sprites overloading the screen. Well. Anyways.

It's been over twenty years since this game's launch in 1993 by Sachen. And since then, not a single FAQ has been written for it. Well, there's always a first time for everything, no? Ever since the start of the GB FAQ Completion Project on GameFAQs several years ago - a project designed to get a guide out for every single GB game out there - many people have now been helped because older, rarer, less popular games have gotten guides.

And so, that is how I came upon this game. Thanks for listening to my ramblin'; hope you enjoy!

Basics of the Game

Game Controls

Button Resultant Effects
D-Pad Move cursor.
A Button Execute a command.
B Button N/A
Start Button Pause/unpause gameplay.
Select Button Cycle through commands.

Note that these are the most basic of controls. Gaining techniques unlocks additional control systems.

Overview

^l1|

Perhaps it would be best to simply begin by explaining the game interface and working from there: after all, this game is rather simple to describe, although the strategy itself can get complex in later levels.

In any case, above is a picture of the game not long after starting the first level. At the top, you can see the "GO" tile; it is from there you will find your ants spewing out. In each level, a certain amount of ants will appear, and you must get a certain number of them to the end: these two numbers are covered before the level begins - in other words, you may not necessarily have to save them all, nor is there is a real point to saving extra ants. =P The end is marked by an area similar to the "GO" tile, readomg "EXIT".

Of course, you have to get the ants from "GO" to the "EXIT". Of course, life isn't simple and it throws a lot of things in your way, like ants who can't think for themselves, so you must do their thinking for them. This is done via the commands at the bottom. You can cycle through them with the Select Button and choose ants to use them on with the D-Pad and A Button. From left to right, here are the commands:

  • ?: No known function
  • Climb: Have the target ant climb up the next wall they meet
  • Parachute: The target ant will survive the next fall more easily (so long as they actually fall on ground)
  • Fire: Sets a five-second detonation timer on the ant; no particular use other than to clean out ants whose use has gone by and it's shorter to end the level as such
  • Block: The ant will stop and block passageway for other ants, just as a wall would
  • Bridge: The ant will make part of a staircase - it can be used as a bridge, as in Stage 04
  • Right Arrow: Command the ant to dig to the right
  • Down-Right Arrow: Command the ant to dig down-right diagonally
  • Down Arrow: Command the ant to move down, which typically means through the ground; if you dig through the ground, a hole is made for other ants to use, so note that
  • Explosion: Essentially a "I give up" option.

Barring the suicide option (the last one), each command will only come in certain quantities, depending on the level, so you must use them wisely!

I ... think that's about it. However, be absolutely sure to note that a good chunk of the levels - a lot of the late-game ones especially - are outright impossible. I don't mean this in the sense of "I can't figure out the solution" -- I mean like "The only solution is 'X', but 'X' requires sacrificing too many ants" or something of the like; essentially, a logical paradox. You'll have to cheat in some manner to beat many of those levels, and you'll be forced to cheat to see the end.

Walkthrough

Easy - Stage 01

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: None
    • Total Ants in Level: 10
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 10 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 5 minutes

Walkthrough: Nothing too complex. Use the down-pointing arrow command to have one ant dig through the ground and it will create a hole leading straight to the exit. Only one is needed, really.

Easy - Stage 02

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: FACEOFF
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 35 (87.5%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 1
    • Time: 5 minutes

Walkthrough: Have the very first ant to come out of the "GO" tile walk a small distance and then use a blocking command on him: this way, the other ants will begin heading left (not right) and onto a fall they can survive. Have the first survivor of this fall walk a small distance onto the edge and have him also block, and then the ants will continue further along to the next ledge. Soon after falling, have one more ant do a block on this ledge and he will force the stream of ants into the exit.

Easy - Stage 03

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: DEADLY
    • Total Ants in Level: 10
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 10 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 3 minutes

Walkthrough: Have every ant climb the wall, then have every ant, before they fall off, use a parachute. That'll do it. Try to do five ants at a time so some don't die while you set up the climbs (since they'll go on without you).

Easy - Stage 04

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: TODAY
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 30 (75%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 7 minutes

Walkthrough: A very simple one. As one ant nears the very edge of the path they're walking on, use the bridge-making command to build some stairs. If they're close enough, the gap will be crossable and nothing else will be needed.

Easy - Stage 05

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: BEAD
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 38 (95%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 7 minutes

Walkthrough: This will be a combination of Stages 01 and 04. Have an ant use the down-right arrow command to dig through the wood diagonally and, once he pops out, have him (or another) go to the edge of the gap. (Down-Right is used because the gap for the ants to fall will be lessened so they won't die.) Then, as in Stage 04, have the ant build a bridge/staircase across the gap up to the exit.

A big problem I had with this level was how the ants got so close together that they ended up walking past the stair-maker and just into the gap. To alleviate that - if you're experiencing in that - have the second ant out of the gap block the others while the first ant digs and builds the staircase. When you're done with those tasks, use the fire command to get rid of the blocker and then just watch as 39 ants pop into your exit.

Easy - Stage 06

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: LATELY
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 38 (95%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 1
    • Time: 5 minutes

Walkthrough: First, you must take an ant or two and time it so that the ant will be moving right next to the right wall when they explode in five seconds. If you count the blocks, hovering the cursor about five blocks away from the wall (maybe half a block less) will suffice for the passing point for the ants. Only two can be used as detonators; any more and the level is an automatic fail, since 38/40 must survive.

Next, you must have one of the remaining ants get in that little corner at the new-far-right side of the accessible area. Notice how three small broken blocks make up that "reverse-L" corner? Have one ant dig down-right while at that corner. That will make the fall just barely surviveable (any more distance and the ants would die), and put you near the exit, too.

Easy - Stage 07

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: FABLE
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 35 (87.5%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 1
    • Time: 5 minutes

Walkthrough: This is a level about extreme precision, sad to say: the process works, but it's hard as hell to get it to work, simply due to its reliance on precision. In any case, the first ant that comes out needs to be a blocker, and he needs to be very close to the edge of the starting platform, and I mean like "one leg off" kinda close. The second ant needs to run into that blocker and immediately after turning begin digging down-left (just use the diagonal command): in doing so, the fall should be surviveable.

That ant then, near the edge of the platform on which you land, needs to begin making a staircase. As with a previous level, have the ant behind him block so no one runs past him. When the ant who made the staircase stops, make him build again. If he reaches the exit, then great. If not, it's because the staircase started too far to the left: that ant will then just descend to the bottom of the staircase, so have him try again. Once he reaches the exit, flame the two blocking ants and that'll hopefully do it.

Easy - Stage 08

  • Stage Overview: Dunno why the game skips over this stage's overview, showing it for only one frame (1/60th of a second)
    • Stage Password: CATALOG
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 35 (87.5%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 7 minutes

Walkthrough: Begin by having the second ant to fall out walk a small distance and begin blocking the other ants. After this, keep track of only the first ant to come out. Have him dig to the right (right-arrow) through the three walls impeding him. As he goes through the last one, scroll to the right and you'll see some steps leading to the water. The moment he lands on the last step, make him begin building a staircase; when he stops, make him continue, and then do so for a third time. This should put you just over the platform with the exit, meaning that the building ant should land near the exit, survive the fall, and enter it. If so, good! Blow up the blocking ant and just watch the other ants stroll into the exit.

Easy - Stage 09

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: CABLE
    • Total Ants in Level: 20
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 20 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 1
    • Time: 3 minutes

Walkthrough: The main problem in this level is a lack of time. Simply have a lot of ants (6~8) begin climbing that wall and, as they near the edge, mark them for parachutes, too. They will continue climbing to the right, even after the fall, so there's nothing else to do with them. Just try not to get that little area next to the wall too crowded: if an ant goes to the left, it will still climb the wall when it loops to the right, but it will take longer.

Easy - Stage 10

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: RECORD
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 38 (95%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 7 minutes

Walkthrough: Firstly, watch the first ant as he goes to the far right. As he approaches the wall, use the right-arrow to dig through it. Now, he or one of the ants behind him will begin to turn left after having bumped into the wall. Keep track of them: when they reach the edge of the ledge, have them be a blocker.

Back to the right side. Have the next ant to approach the wall begin digging down-right - you could dig right, but this saves some time. As the ants go to the right along the ground, have the second of those in the line become a blocker. The front one needs to build a staircase, and we need him to do so unimpeded: the stone face on the ground at the right will kill any ants that pass above it without being one the stairs. The staircase needs to start at the left side of the block that is three to the left of the stone face, or perhaps a bit earlier, but three is the minimum. Have him continue building the stairs two times after that and he should be able to simply walk into the exit. Now, blow up the right side blocking ant and the rest of the ants should walk straight into the exit. (The leftmost blocking ant won't, but he still stops some from going left into the water, so best to keep him.)

Easy - Stage 11

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: TAIPEI
    • Total Ants in Level: 20
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 20 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 1
    • Time: 7 minutes

Walkthrough: Begin by giving parachutes to every ant as they appear and, when they land, make the first ant climb the wall to the right. Let him fall off the edge and, when he walks past the exit door above him, make him begin to build stairs. Once he hits the wall, he'll turn downstairs: make him begin building stairs on the way down and keep building until you reach the door. As for the other ants that landed, have one build stairs so that the rest can climb over the wall.

Easy - Stage 12

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: PEOPLE
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 40 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 1
    • Time: 7 minutes

Walkthrough: This is another impossible level. Let's look at this way... You need to get over that left-arrow-filled wall, right? You can't dig through it, so you have to climb over it with stairs or actual climbing. There are too few of the latter commands, so stairs are required. So, you build them. Now ants are spilling over the edge of the ledge, and you can't save them all since there are too few parachutes. You could block them, but all 40 ants must reach the end, so blocking is essentially an instant fail. There's no way to get over there...

In other words, there are two solutions. Simply use the password for the next level (SMILE), or flip RAM address 0xC276 to $28 (40 in hex code). Either way, you'll have to circumvent this level somehow.

Easy - Stage 13

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: SMILE
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 40 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 1
    • Time: 5 minutes

Walkthrough: This level is surprisingly easy. Keep track of the first ant, and keep the command selector hovering over the diagonal digging command. As the first ant reaches the "L"-shaped corner near the "GO" tile, while facing left, have him dig. Hopefully, that'll be all that's required: he'll dig down and left to the exit!

Easy - Stage 14

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: ZMODEM
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 30 (75%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 5 minutes

Walkthrough: This level is yet another one of the impossible ones. In this case, it is because the only way to up to the block to the left of the start - indeed, the main obstacle to the goal - is too tall. You need to build a staircase up to it (since you are unable to dig and have too few ants that could climb up (only 10/30). The staircase, however, would reach too close to the blocks just above the start and to its left, meaning the ants would not be able to travel on it. And, without the staircase...

In other words, there are two solutions. Simply use the password for the next level (INDEED), or flip RAM address 0xC276 to $28 (40 in hex code). Either way, you'll have to circumvent this level somehow.

Easy - Stage 15

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: INDEED
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 35 (87.5%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 5 minutes

Walkthrough: Simple enough. Watch the first ant and wait for him to hit the left wall and turn right. The moment he does so, have him begin building a staircase while the second ant begins to block. Keep that staircase built until the ant eventually reaches the ledge to the right. Get as far to the right as possible there (depending on where you land) and begin building another staircase, just one. The ant should then be on the other side of the water. At the dead-end, dig down-right to open up the exit. Then just detonate the blocker ant.

Normal - Stage 01

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: SACHEN (*rolls eyes*)
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 20 (50%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 1
    • Time: 7 minutes

Walkthrough: ... Another impossible level. In this case, it's because you need to build a staircase to the top of the metal "N". In this case, that is impossible, since there is no room for the staircase to ascend. You could try digging through the "G" for more room, but that won't be enough, especially since it's not clearing out anything in the vertical sense. You can't dig through the "N", either, and by the time you try for the "I", your ants will be vaporized. So l.. there's pretty much nothing to do.

In other words, there are two solutions. Simply use the password for the next level (COACHER), or flip RAM address 0xC276 to $28 (40 in hex code). Either way, you'll have to circumvent this level somehow.

Normal - Stage 02

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: COACHER
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 38 (95%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 1
    • Time: 3 minutes

Walkthrough: It's pretty simple to think of, but hard as hell to execute. As the level begins, you need to get the first few ants to parachute down to survive the fall. The first ant to survive needs to become a blocker, and the second needs to bump into him to face left and build a staircase. That's it: the staircase will make there be a small enough gap between "GO" and the ground to have most of the ants live.

Normal - Stage 03

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: DAMASCUS
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 40 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 1
    • Time: 3 minutes

Walkthrough: This level is impossible. This is a sort of mimickry around Easy's Stage 02; however, the difference is that all of the ants must survive. To some extent, you can try that; however, to get them to turn left without any vertical walls being present in the level (that you can touch) requires a blocking ant, and since that ant will not survive the level...

In other words, there are two solutions. Simply use the password for the next level (PROGRAM), or flip RAM address 0xC276 to $28 (40 in hex code). Either way, you'll have to circumvent this level somehow.

Normal - Stage 04

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: PROGRAM
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 40 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 5 minutes

Walkthrough: It's simpler than you might think. First, scroll to the far right side of the area, a good distance past the spraying thingies, near the end of that ledge. As the first ant appears on-screen, have him dig down and right. Any others that move in front of him should dig straight down.

Normal - Stage 05

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: EMPTY
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 38 (95%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 5 minutes

Walkthrough: First, you must take an ant or two and time it so that the ant will be moving right next to the right wall when they explode in five seconds. If you count the blocks, hovering the cursor about five blocks away from the wall (maybe half a block less) will suffice for the passing point for the ants. Only two can be used as detonators; any more and the level is an automatic fail, since 38/40 must survive.

Next, have one of the ants dig down-right through the stuff on the other side, which will shorten the fall just enough so that the ants survive when falling.

Normal - Stage 06

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: CIRCLE
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 40 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 7 minutes

Walkthrough: First, you need an ant to dig straight to the right through the wall to the right of the start. Immediately on the other side, you'll want him to build a staircase to the top of the block there. Once one is made that will suffice in getting ants over it, the next ant to go over that block needs to build a staircase to the next wall so that they'll be next to it and can dig down-right through it once at the top of the stairs, making it possible to get through the walls. Then, like in the Easy stages, just build a staircase over the water.

Whether that will be possible without sacrificing an ant is beyond me. I'd personally dub this level impossible (ants are likely to spill over into the water and die, and all 40 must live), mostly since I couldn't do it, but this one actually had a legitimate strategy to it. I mean, you'd need a blocking ant to stop them, and that blocking ant will die, so...

Normal - Stage 07

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: DROPOUT
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 40 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 1
    • Time: 5 minutes

Walkthrough: This will be a little... complicated. And luck-based to a fault.

For the first ant, you'll want him to immediately dig down-right: hopefully, the ant will dig a hole just above the upper-left corner of the block there, sticking most . This will make most of the other ants fall into the pit. Of those that do not, have the last one in the survivors' line dig straight down at the rightmost side of the area. He should survive the fall. Now have him go to the left and build up a staircase that will cross the gap.

Once he has done so, you need to dig a tunnel from the remaining ants into the tunnel the building ant dug, and that's very luck-based - since there are multiple ants in that small area, any one could be selected, and if he's facing left, you're screwed: you need him to face right, but it's hard to control, so... In any case, once that tunnel is dug, the ants safely will cross into it and along the path to the exit.

Normal - Stage 08

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: DAMSEL
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 25 (67.5%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 6 minutes

Walkthrough: This is about as kamikaze as they get! =P

In this level, you want the first ant to fall into the gap nearby and dig to the right through it. The moment he begins to dig, try to detonate him. See, we need to get the ants on the ground level, but there's no way but to suicide bomb the structure to death. Set up several more of the ants that are currently falling - two explosions destroy the blocks - to blow up and the floor will be opened, hopefully. As the ants cross below the first of the spike fields (the one in the room you dug into and blew yourself out of), set two of them up to blow and they'll hopefully open the floor to the ground level. The remaining ants will be home free.

    • Stage Password: YELLOW
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 38 (95%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 6 minutes

Walkthrough: Nothing spectacular. In this level, have the second ant, soon after taking a few steps, become a blocker, then quickly make the first ant that came out dig down-right. This should create a tunnel to the ground, the fall from which the digger should survive. Then have him dig through the three pillars further to the right and build a staircase over the gap to the exit. Then blow up the blocker ant and you'll be good.

Normal - Stage 10

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: DAILY
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 40 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 5 minutes

Walkthrough: It's simply impossible. There's only two ways to get ants out of that initial starting hole. One is to climb, but only one ant will be doing the climbing, who will then need to build stairs to the exit at the end. The rest can't do anything, except build a staircase, but ants will begin climbing on it too early and fall to their deaths before it is complete, meaning it'd be impossible for that to work, too.

In other words, there are two solutions. Simply use the password for the next level (RAINY), or flip RAM address 0xC276 to $28 (40 in hex code). Either way, you'll have to circumvent this level somehow.

Normal - Stage 11

    • Stage Password: RAINY
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 30 (75%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 1
    • Time: 8 minutes

Walkthrough: It's a long level, mostly about staircases. The first ant out will be the primary builder in this level: have him use staircases to go across all of the gaps to the right. Each gap will only take a single staircase to cross. Meanwhile, have the second ant out block for him, and the third ant (who will turn left from the second) go just past the "GO" and also block, restricting the remaining ants to that small area while the builder ant ... builds. Once he's done, detonate the right-side blocker and the ants should stream safely towards the exit.

    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 5 (12.5%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 9
    • Time: 3 minutes

Walkthrough: When the level begins, you will need to use parachutes to save some of the ants. You can save up to ten total; however, it's much easier to just save the bare five you need. When they're saved, mark them all for climbing, and be sure they're walking to the right as you do so: they'll continue along the path to the exit with no more guidance from you than that.

    • Total Ants in Level: 30
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 30 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 1
    • Time: 4 minutes

Walkthrough: This level is impossible. See, from the initial platform, you need to make a staircase so that you can head up-right towards the exit, but the problem is that the ants will simply spill into the spike pits or off of the stairs to their deaths, meaning instant failure. You could use a blocker, but blockers will be forced to die, so that's out of the question, and so is our only method.

In other words, there are two solutions. Simply use the password for the next level (BEAKER), or flip RAM address 0xC276 to $28 (40 in hex code). Either way, you'll have to circumvent this level somehow.

    • Minimum Ants Saved: 32 (80%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 1
    • Time: 8 minutes

Walkthrough: This is a level mostly reliant on luck. In this case, you'll want the first ant to arrive in the level to descend the staircase left of the start. While he goes, the second ant needs to stay on the initial platform and block for the first ant, who will build four consecutive staircases. Once he's done, he's done - he'll die soon enough, regardless, so detonate the blocking ant, too. The ants will stream along, kinda-sorta bypassing the poison spray. Past there, the ants will fill into a gap. It's a bit luck-based as to whether you'll get one building an up-left staircase, but try. After that, the ants will continue filing. You have to hope that few enough ants die from that next poison spray to fall into the exit and still give you 32 living, but it's a long short.

An alternate, but also luck-based strategy is to, from the ant-piling pit, have one ant dig downward and the rest of the ants will pile in there. From there, use one of the horizontal digging commands: hopefully, the ant will be facing left at the time that ends up diggin.

Normal - Stage 15

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: WHISKEY
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 40 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 6 minutes

Walkthrough: This level is kinda luck-based, too. In this level, you'll want to have an ant dig horizontally through the wall right of the start. After doing so, the first ant to get through needs to immediately build a staircase, which will end up reaching the ledge above and to the right, allowing you to pile into the exit.

Hard - Stage 01

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: GUESS
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 40 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 6 minutes

Walkthrough: This level is impossible. This is because that, to make is from the start past the wall, you clearly need to make a staircase in some way, but you would need a blocking ant to prevent everyone from spilling into the pit and dying, which won't work since he'll be forced to die. So... yeah. There's far too many of these levels for a game.

In other words, there are two solutions. Simply use the password for the next level (FRESH), or flip RAM address 0xC276 to $28 (40 in hex code). Either way, you'll have to circumvent this level somehow.

Hard - Stage 02

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: FRESH
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 38 (95%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 7 minutes

Walkthrough: Begin by letting the first ant just walk around while the second ant becomes a blocker. And, as usual, let the third ant also be a blocker when he turns left and bypasses the "GO" tile. When that's done, the first ant needs to build a staircase to the top of the ledge nearby: starting about 1/3 of the way between the "GO" and it should suffice. When he's done, he needs to descend near the water and do another staircase. From there, he needs to make additional staircases to cross over the gaps between the sparse platforms over the water, and be sure to do one from the last platform up to the exit platform (ants won't crawl up the smallest non-stair ledge...). Once that's done, simply blow up the right side blocker and let the ants stream to the exit.

Hard - Stage 03

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: EVENING
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 40 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 1
    • Time: 5 minutes

Walkthrough: Just have every ant dig and it will fall a safe distance to the ground, meaning that the lead ant will need to simply build a staircase to the exit from there. >_>

Hard - Stage 04

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: FACTION
    • Total Ants in Level: 30
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 30 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 3
    • Time: 6 minutes

Walkthrough: This level is impossible. The only way to get near the exit with the supplies you're given is to dig from the starting area down-left to the ground, then go from there to the wall and dig left through it. You then need to build a staircase up to the exit from there. However, ants will spill over the stairs and to their deaths, be it from the fall or from the poison spray; simply using a blocker would suffice, but since they'll be forced to die, and all ants must live, it's out of the question and therefore impsossible to solve this level.

In other words, there are two solutions. Simply use the password for the next level (SUAVE), or flip RAM address 0xC276 to $28 (40 in hex code). Either way, you'll have to circumvent this level somehow.

Hard - Stage 05

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: SUAVE
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 35 (87.5%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 4
    • Time: 8 minutes

Walkthrough: Begin the level by letting the first ant simply go off to the far right and begin blocking from there. The second ant needs to go to the left and begin digging through the wall. As he does so, have the third ant begin blocking from the left side of the "GO" tile such that the remaining ants get crowded in that small space, leaving the second ant be. When he bypasses the steel blocks, have him begin digging down-left diagonally. When he hits the ground, get him to the edge of the gap nearby and build a staircase across it. (The timing is very annoyingly precise, since the room is limited, meaning it can be insanely difficult to get a staircase that will not go too high across the gap then prevent progress.) Then have him approach the right-arrow wall. Dig down-left at the corner where it meets the ground and, after going one small tile, begin going to the left. At some point after passing the wall, make some stairs to get out of the gap, and he should be home free. Now detonate the leftmost of the blockers and the rest of the ants will go along to the exit, too.

Hard - Stage 06

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: KING
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 40 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 1
    • Time: 6 minutes

Walkthrough: This level is more based on luck than anything, but it's more possible than some of the other luck-based ones. -_-;;

In any case, have the first ant that's out of the gate go to the right and build a staircase up the staircase-like set of blocks. Once at the top (with a ton of ants probably past you), you need to have one fall into the gap up ahead and, the second they touch the ground, build another staircase up to the ledge where the exit is. That'll do it!

Hard - Stage 07

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: YOUNG
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 34 (85%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 3
    • Time: 5 minutes

Walkthrough: This will be a pretty hard level. When the level begins, have the first ant that pops out and turns left dig down-left. Have him dig so that, the moment he's working on the third tile (which be the second vertical descent), make him dig left and towards the hole at the end. While he does that, have the third ant in the line (by now or earlier) become a blocker, making only two ants able to leave the area for the moment.

When the two ants pop out of the end, they will fall: save them with parachutes. When that is done, have the lead ant, as they turn right, block the other one. This way, this other ant can face left and build a staircase. This staircase will allow the other ants to survive the fall. When that is done, destroy the blockers and the ants will stream along. It's mostly luck as to whether too few or too many ants will be killed by the spray, though... But that'll be the only remaining obstacle.

Hard - Stage 08

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: LETTER
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 38 (95%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 1
    • Time: 8 minutes

Walkthrough: For this level, have the first ant bump into the wall, turn left, and be a blocker once past the "GO" tile. Then keep watch of the second one: when it bumps into him again and turns right, have him begin building a staircase. Once the ant has ascended onto the ledge next to the water, have the next ant quickly begin to dig vertically down. When they get beyond the bottom of the tub of water, dig to the right next. Once out, you'll have to build a staircase from the platform on which you exit to the "EXIT" tile. It will be pretty hard, though, given that only one ant now will be able to die, and more likely none since one likely fell into the water the first time. So, yeah, it's mostly luck.

Hard - Stage 09

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: ROSE
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 39 (97.5%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 4 minutes

Walkthrough: A simple level. Have the second ant begin blocking soon after he leaves the gate while the first ant goes on. After descending and falling from the stairs, you'll want him to build a staircase up to the hanging platform nearby. The second he touches the wall, you need him to dig horizontally through it. Then, when he hits the ground, build another staircase, dig, land, build, dig, and land. Then just another staircase to the exit, after which you need to just blow up the blocking ant from earlier and let them all free. (Time can be a problem here, though. If you have trouble with it, destroying the blocker ant as you ready the final staircase should be okay.)

Hard - Stage 10

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: INSECT
    • Total Ants in Level: 20
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 20 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 3
    • Time: 5 minutes

Walkthrough: This level is simply impossible. The only way to the exit is via a staircase. So, yeah, build stairs: the problem is that ants are going to spill over the edge that way. Blockers won't do the job, either, since they'll be forced to die, and all 20 ants must live, and there's absolutely no way other than a staircase to the exit... So...

In other words, there are two solutions. Simply use the password for the next level (FACT), or flip RAM address 0xC276 to $28 (40 in hex code). Either way, you'll have to circumvent this level somehow.

Hard - Stage 11

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: FACT
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 30 (75%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 8
    • Time: 7 minutes

Walkthrough: Nothing hard. You just need to get the ants to the structure right of the start and time their detonations such that they explode above open floors so that the path will be opened to said floors and the ants will file in there. Nothing difficult.

Hard - Stage 12

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: DISK
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 40 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 4 minutes

Walkthrough: This is so similar to the Hard: Stage 10 predictament, it's a little startling. The only way to the exit is via a staircase. So, yeah, build stairs: the problem is that ants are going to spill over the edge that way. Blockers won't do the job, either, since they'll be forced to die, and all 40 ants must live, and there's absolutely no way other than a staircase to the exit... So...

In other words, there are two solutions. Simply use the password for the next level (GOODBYE), or flip RAM address 0xC276 to $28 (40 in hex code). Either way, you'll have to circumvent this level somehow.

Hard - Stage 13

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: GOODBYE
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 40 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 9
    • Time: 5 minutes

Walkthrough: Nothing much. You'll need the lead ant to dig down-right once on the top-most platform, then when he falls below dig down again. The ants will either follow him or loop around to the second hole and survive.

Hard - Stage 14

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: APPALL
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 30 (75%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 7 minutes

Walkthrough: This level is all about opening speed: if you can open the level fast enough, you'll be golden. Have the first ant, the moment he touches the ground (or absolutely as soon as you can) begin building a staircase. Then quickly get one of the ants behind him to block: some of the ants will fall into the gap, but it doesn't matter, since 10 can die in this level and you'll be fine. Just have the builder ant continue up to the top of the left-arrow wall and, once he's there, land on it.

Have him parachute down into the gap and, when he touches the ground, begin building a staircase: it will hit that wall, don't worry about it. When it does, the builder will begin to descend: have him begin building a staircase while facing left and while on the stairs: this will less the fall the other ants will take. Now, once that's done, have the ant go up the original staircase from before. Past the "Y" intersection where the stairs come together, have him dig down once, and there will be your path: up the stairs at the left, down the second "half-stairs", and into that gap to the exit.

    • Stage Password: FACE
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 38 (95%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 5 minutes

Walkthrough: Begin by having the first ant walk to the right a bit and becoming a blocker to the right of the "GO". Ignore the second ant for now and have the third ant become a blocker a bit to the left of "GO". Now, as for the second ant? Have him dig through the wall to the left. Once past, you just need to build some stairs up to the "EXIT". Once done with that, have the left blocker ant die and the remaining 37 (builder being 38) will stream into the exit.

My God - Stage 01

    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 40 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 5 minutes

Walkthrough: This level is impossible; you get as far as getting the ants to the right side of the initial platform. When you dig down there, you'll need to make a staircase to ascend to the exit. However, too many ants will begin spilling over into the gaps, and, as usual, you can't use blockers with 100%-survival levels, so you're screwed here.

In other words, there are two solutions. Simply use the password for the next level (DRAGON), or flip RAM address 0xC276 to $28 (40 in hex code). Either way, you'll have to circumvent this level somehow.

My God - Stage 02

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: DRAGON
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 40 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 7 minutes

Walkthrough: This level is impossible. There, admittedly, are several ways one could this, but the general idea in all is to go to the bottom-left, build some stairs quickly, and force everyone thusly to turn right. Then dig through the structure and you'll reach a point where stairs are required in some manner ... but, to avoid death, a blocker would be needed, and that will force someone to die, so...

In other words, there are two solutions. Simply use the password for the next level (CLEAR), or flip RAM address 0xC276 to $28 (40 in hex code). Either way, you'll have to circumvent this level somehow.

My God - Stage 03

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: CLEAR
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 40 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 3
    • Time: 8 minutes

Walkthrough: Another case where blocking ants would be required to prevent deaths when building a staircase, although no such ants would be allowed due to the all-must-survive clause.

In other words, there are two solutions. Simply use the password for the next level (CHINA), or flip RAM address 0xC276 to $28 (40 in hex code). Either way, you'll have to circumvent this level somehow.

    • Ant Release Rate: 9
    • Time: 8 minutes

Walkthrough: Another case where blocking ants would be required to prevent deaths when building a staircase, although no such ants would be allowed due to the all-must-survive clause.

In other words, there are two solutions. Simply use the password for the next level (FRIDAY), or flip RAM address 0xC276 to $28 (40 in hex code). Either way, you'll have to circumvent this level somehow.

    • Stage Password: FRIDAY
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 40 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 5 minutes

Walkthrough: The obvious solution - and pretty much any solution, since turning left is an absolute requirement of the level - will require a blocker, and all ants must live. Again, impossible.

In other words, there are two solutions. Simply use the password for the next level (TAIWAN), or flip RAM address 0xC276 to $28 (40 in hex code). Either way, you'll have to circumvent this level somehow.

My God - Stage 06

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: TAIWAN
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 38 (95%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 1
    • Time: 6 minutes

Walkthrough: Holy crap, one that's actually possible.

Have the first ant fall down into the gap to the right and begin building a staircase when he hits the ground. As he does so, the second ant from the "GO" needs to block, and the third one (once he turns left) also needs to block, restricting the ants to that small area.

The builder ant, once he reaches the mid-air metal block, needs to get to the leafy platform to the right. ASAP, he needs to dig down-right through it, so as to soften the fall of the other ants when they come. Then he just continues to the right, building more stairs across the various gaps. Once he's done, have the right-side blocker ant detonate and the ants should file into the exit.

My God - Stage 07

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: ONLY
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 36 (90%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 3
    • Time: 5 minutes

Walkthrough: Have the first ant, after turning left, dig through the wall to the left of the start. While he does this, the second ant needs to become a blocker, restricting the ants so that they're between the right wall and "GO". When the digger ant gets to the other side of the wall, you need to build a staircase towards the "EXIT" in the air. When the staircase you build is close to the exit, you need to do one of three things:

  • If you landed on top of the exit, dig straight down
  • If the staircase touches the right wall, and is above the exit, dig down-left
  • If the staircase toucehs the right wall, on level with the exit, dig left

Then just detonate the blocker ant and you're home-free!

My God - Stage 08

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: VOICE
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 38 (95%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 9
    • Time: 6 minutes

Walkthrough: This level is mostly about visual accuracy. When the first ant touches the ground, watch him carefully. When he hits the walls for the second time and turns right, immediately begin building a staircase. As it nears completion, have the next ant behind him on the stairs become a blocker. Then have that builder ant simply descend into the next pit, build stairs from the lower-left, and continue doing that across all of the pits.

When you reach the fourth pit or so, an "L"-shaped pit will be to the bottom-right. Dig down-right from the top of the pit above it and parachute onto the "L" platform. Hit the wall and turn left, then build some stairs up towards the tunnel you dug: so long as there is a survivable from it, you'll do fine. As you reach the pit wall and are forced to back down, build a staircase that will just go over the edge of the "L" block (i.e. be as low as possible). When you do so, release the ants; you'll need one of them soon.

When you get over the edge of the next ledge, you need to drop down there: the fall won't be survivable without parachutes, so we need to do something. In other words, ascend partway up the stairs and begin to block. When the other ants begin coming, have the lead effectively be the next builder: have the second in the group block again. This leader ant will approach the right-side blocker, turn left, and build a staircase to soften the fall from the other one. When that's done, release the blockers and we're done.

My God - Stage 09

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: ANT BEAR
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 36 (90%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 1
    • Time: 7 minutes

Walkthrough: This level is primarily about speed in the beginning. You need to save the first twenty ants with parachutes. As you do so, though, the lead ant needs to begin building a staircase. He will do so after hitting the ground, hitting the right wall, and thus turning left. From there, begin the process of staircase-building, and be sure to keep up the process of parachuting the ants!

When the stairs are built, continue them up to the top and to the top of the ramp. Have the second ant in the line block as the builder ant continues on. From the bottom of the ramp, you need to build some stairs up and right across the gap. Then you need this ant to dig down-right once he lands. Once he digs through a single tile, he needs to dig right and under the wall and, once done, build a staircase on the other side so you can get out of the pit. Now you just need to build a staircase to the exit further along and release the blocked ants.

My God - Stage 10

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: PROCTOL (probably meant to be "protocol")
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 36 (90%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 5
    • Time: 7 minutes

Walkthrough: When the level begins, have the first ant become a blocker as he reaches the very edge of the starting ledge, so all of the ants remain on the same vertical level. The second ant needs to dig down one tile, like in the previous letter, then dig right to get under the exit. Once that's done, a staircase needs to be built to allow the ants out of the pit. That should suffice; however, if you dug too far, you can have the lead ant out of the pit become a blocker, too, to try and put the other ants in the exit, should it be needed.

My God - Stage 11

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: EIGHT
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 30 (75%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 1
    • Time: 8 minutes

Walkthrough: Have the lead ant begin to dig through the wall to the left of the start, and the second become a blocker to restrict the flow of ants. Once through the wall, you need to begin a staircase from the edge of the ledge nearby, towards the exit. As you build the third set to get above the exit, you need to mark him with a parachute.

Now here comes the luck-based part: if it fails, it's because you moved the stairs too far to the left, so you have to try again more to the right. You see that small "L" corner near the exit? You need to land there, thusly turning you to the right. Build some stairs back up to the other stairs and, when you meet them, dig to the right through them. Thus, you'll have a tapered up-down staircase to get the exit. However, you're not done yet. Have this builder ant run into the blocker and, when he does, blow up the blocker.

As the stream of ants head to the exit, as you're nearing the end of the downbound staircase, build a small staircase just a bit over the edge of the exit's ledge so the ants will get there safely.

My God - Stage 12

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: CHEESE
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 39 (97.5%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 3
    • Time: 4 minutes

Walkthrough: With this level, have the lead ant approach the top of the stairs. As he does, mark him and the next ants with parachutes so they'll be sure to survive the fall. When at the top, the lead ant will fall down safely. Have him hit the wall, turn left, and begin building some stairs to soften the fall. Once that's done, the final ant should have left the "GO" area, so make him a blocker as the ants begin looping. Have one ant dig through the lower-right part of the bottom-right staircase, then the next ant will dig down, then right under the wall as we've done in previous levels, building a staircase to get out.

My God - Stage 13

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: SUPER
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 38 (95%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 1
    • Time: 6 minutes

Walkthrough: This level is highly based on luck, but it's doable. Have the lead ant dig down throught the dirt until he's level with the metal platforms to the right. When he is, dig horizontally to the right from there. As the tunnel ends, build some stairs over the gap. Then have the new lead ant (since he will be bypassed) build some more across the next gap. And again. As this particular staircase is built, the second ant in line needs to block, and the one that just fell off the stairs also does: this will keep them in their place as the stairs to the exit are built. Once done, simply blow up the right-side blocker and move on.

My God - Stage 14

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: NEEDS
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 39 (97.5%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 1
    • Time: 3 minutes

Walkthrough: Just a mere moment after the first ant takes a step, mark him as a blocker! It's quite hard, though: I actually had to use the frame-advantage function on my emulator to manage it.

In any case, the second ant will begin walking left; have him build a staircase to the top of the enclosure to the left, walking on its roof. It will take a few more staircases to get over the exit, where he will need to dig straight down over the rightmost tile of the exit; some ants, however, will spill over, but they will be fine by digging down on their own tiles, hopefully.

My God - Stage 15

  • Stage Overview:
    • Stage Password: WATER
    • Total Ants in Level: 40
    • Minimum Ants Saved: 40 (100%)
    • Ant Release Rate: 1
    • Time: 8 minutes

Walkthrough: This level is impossible, primarily because multiple blockers would be needed to avoid the waters in the area, or you'd end up needing to build staircases and prevent ants from falling, but, either way, blockers are needed, but they can't used due to the all-must-survive clause. Shame, too, because it's the last level: the only way to bypass this and see the ending is to flip RAM address 0xC276 to $28 (40) and end the level somehow.

What a terrible game. >_> So many logically-impossible levels.
