Gameplay

Controls

The controls have not changed significantly since Assassin's Creed III, so you shouldn't have too much trouble if you played the previous games. That being said, the game will introduce the use of all controls through gameplay tutorials.

Basics

As with the previous games in the series, Unity begins with some linear events that will introduce the player to basic gameplay controls. For seasoned players this should be a refresher course and a low difficulty introduction for new players. After a few tutorial chapters, the sandbox style gameplay will open up and allow the player multiple options.

Main Memories

Like the previous games, Unity is split up into sequences made up of memories. In order to progress, the player must complete the main memories (marked with an exclamation point) to progress the story.

Secondary Memories

Secondary Memories are events that are optional and are made up of all the games Side Quests. These will flesh out the gameplay and make the players experience that much more enjoyable.

Full Synch & Memory Replay

All memories have Full Synchronization conditions that the player must fulfill in order to get the "Full Synchronization" and 100% the Progress Tracker. If the player does not complete the optional objectives, or only completes a few of them, they will receive a percent equal to their achievements. No worries! The player can always replay a memory by selecting it from the Progress Tracker to retry the objective.

Health & Desynchronization

Arno's health is indicated by the bars in the top left of the screen. When damage is taken, Arno will lose bars based on the damage of the attack. Desynch occurs under the following conditions and will cause the player to have to replay the sequence from the last checkpoint.

  • Death - when Arno's health bar becomes empty
  • Fail an objective such as losing a target or not following an ally
  • Running out of bounds (indicated with the fractured Animus visual)

Movement & Navigation

Due to the game covering most of the basic movement controls in the tutorial chapters, I am only quickly cover the basics and any advanced information or controls that are not covered in the control section above; this will mostly cover common game features that have adjustments for Unity.

Walking & Running

While walking Arno will blend with the environment and the crowds to avoid detection, but by holding / you can enter High Profile mode to run at the cost of detection by those you seek to find Arno.

Freerunning

The game carries over the mechanics from AC III and IV, allowing you to run over buildings, up and through trees, and even inside building interiors.

Unlike the previous installments, buildings now have interiors with multiple floors that you can explore rather than the game taking control and interiors purely using to break line of sight. These interiors allow the game to have missions transition for exterior events to interior events at the drop of a hat.

In addition to climbing, you can now hold +/ + to quick descend down from any location.

While running you can pass over or under tables, windows, and low obstacles effortlessly by holding +/ + as you approach the obstacle.

Fast Travel Networks

Fast Travel is available to all viewpoints, the Cafe Theatre, and the Assassin's HQ.

Assassin Skills

Arno's skills are unlocked throughout the game's story, but rather than simply gaining them straight away you'll need to purchase them with Sync Points. Once some Sync Points are acquired by completing the main story memories or Co-op Missions, you can then open the Character Customization menu and purchase any skills that have been unlocked.

There are two types of skills: Passive and Active. Passive skills are permanent effects that will always be in affect, while Active skills must be used. Up to four Active skills can be equipped at one time to the / .

Walkthrough

The game begins with an advert for Helix, a software program that Abstergo Entertainment has released to allow you to play the memories of of others and experience the past.

You will notice some of the memories from previous games like Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag's "Devil of the Caribbean", which should be expected due to the trailer found in Abstergo Entertainment, and Assassin's Creed: Liberation's "The Liberation of Lady Aveline". Some of these you may not recognize, such as Assassin's Creed: Rogue or those from the mobile games, but there are plenty there. Unfortunately, you are forced to select "The Tragedy of Jacques De Molay", as the rest of the memories are currently locked.

Prologue

In true Assassin's Creed style the first chapter is always the tutorial, with you playing a Templar like in Assassin's Creed IV. After a scene you will need to Follow de Molay, so press on the to walk around and hold / to sprint.

After only a short walk you'll get another scene and be told to hide a sword and book from the Assassins. Sprint towards the green waymarker in the distance and you may find yourself getting pulled into combat. These enemies can be ignore by sprinting away or attacking them with / to kill them.

As you make your way into the courtyard another scene will occur with the drawbridge being raised and the camera will spin toward you next destination. Run up the steps and climb the ladder up to cut through a room to the scaffolding on the other side and then climb up until the scaffolding ends. You can climb the side of the building here by holding + / + to jump up and then using the  to maneuver up the wall.

Enter the building to get Smoke Bombed by an Assassin and the turn right and head downstairs for a scene to find that the Assassin has managed to steal the book. Rush out the window, making sure to hold down + / + , to hop across the gap and pull yourself up and then run after the Assassin. When the Assassin runs down the steps to the left you should continue straight, because you'll lose him either way, and then jump down when the waypoint appears for a scene.

The battle that follows acts as your first official tutorial for combat. You will want to press / to parry the Assassin's attacks and then attack with / . The trick is to watch the diamonds above the Assassin's head and when a bar appears it means he is going to attack. You want to try and parry when the bar flashes yellow to perform a Perfect Parry, which will stun the Assassin and allow you to get a chain off.

After a bit the Assassin will drop another bomb in an attempt to escape, but will be stopped when he has to deal with another Templar. This section will teach you to Dodge using the same timing as a Parry, but instead of pressing / you want to press / . In general this is less useful, but when dealing with Heavy Attacks from Brutes that can't be parried you will want to use this.

Once the Assassin is dead you will trigger a long cutscene, beginning the true story of Assassin's Creed: Unity.

Sequence 01

Memory 01 - Memories of Versailles

Optional Objectives:Pass over/under 5 objects
Don't get tackled

This memory begins with Arno Dorian as a child visiting Versailles with his father, who is on important business. After his father leaves a mysterious girl appears and runs off giggling. You'll need to follow the girl through the rooms of Versailles, bumping into servants, until you reach a garden courtyard.

As you approach the girl she'll dare you to steal an apple from the table in the middle of the courtyard, right in front of a sleeping guard. The minute you grab the apple the guard will catch Arno and try to run him down.

This acts as a tutorial for the new game mechanic of "Last Known Position", which allows you to break line of sight and lure an enemy away from their position. This can be used later to allow you to assassinate an enemy from a safe position by drawing them over, but for now you will need to use it to lose the guard and then lure the guard by the exit away to leave the garden.

As you approach the girl again a scene will occur that leaves Arno stunned. Thirteen later, Arno is still up to trouble and stealing things, but this time it is something more valuable than a simple apple.

After the scene the first optional objective will become active and you'll need to run after Hugo while making sure to pass over and under the 5 objects. The first is obvious since the game shows the on screen prompt to use +/ + as Hugo hops through the window. The next is directly after passing through the window, so keep holding the buttons to slide under the table inside the building.

As you head back outside and slide over the third object, a table, veer right to the darkened doorway instead of through the open archway to enter a building and slide out the window and back outside. Back outside, the final object is a table off to the left with some fish on it, so slide under and then chase after Hugo and tackle him.

After a short scene it will be your turn to run and this is where the second objective to not get tackled activates. Run straight north and ignore the ramp that you'd think would be the obvious way to go. You want to continue to head north, but you also want to avoid the guards, so as you are heading north take the left path to the west of the brown building with the words Cafes et Epices to avoid the guards on the east side.

As you run up this street you should lose the guards and the indicator will turn yellow to indicate that you can now hide in the crowds to lose them for good. Once the indicator is clear and you are no longer being followed, head for the green waymarker at the De La Serre estate to complete the memory.

Memory 02 - The Estates General

Optional Objectives:Parry two attacks
Dodge two attacks

Talk to Olivier inside the De La Serre estate to begin a cutscene. After the scene you'll need to run after the De La Serre carriage in the hopes of catching up to deliver the letter, but following it directly on foot will not be an option. As you see the carriage turn right through a gate, that closes behind it, veer right and look for the glowing lift that will propel Arno to the roof when he jumps up to it.

The rooftops in Assassin's Creed: Unity are much better than previous installments of the series and have a unnatural closeness and connectivity that allows you to flow from one to the next, without having to touch the ground, that makes them great for travel.

In this case, you will want to run straight ahead after exiting the lift and then turn right at the T section. Continue to follow the carriage from above and when the roof ends use the rope to the left to cross to the adjacent buildings. You can now cross the buildings to reach the market plaza that the carriage stops in.

The carriage appears not to be De La Serre's and the objective will change to you needing to get a better look from a high vantage. What better way to get a good vantage point than to head to the nearby cathedral and sync up your first viewpoint to spot the carriages position.

After the sync and the scene that follows, leap of faith off the building by holding +/ + to the landing below and then quick descend by continuing to hold these buttons, a feature that I greatly appreciate in this installment, to reach the estate gates.

The estate grounds are a restricted area and without an invite Arno won't be able to just walk straight in. Use Eagle Vision by pressing / to spot the guards and then blend in with the crowd at the front and then on the side of the courtyard to make your way to the entrance. When you reach the carriage at the end of the crowd take cover and use Eagle Vision to check the location of that guard that patrols across the entrance to the building. Stay back and covered until the guard begins to walk right and then slip inside.

Make your way through the rooms to a doorway to the lower gallery and then follow the NPCs up the stairwell. Pass through the first balcony to the main floor and then push your way through the audience to trigger a scene.

Victor and Hugo will have found their own way into the event and you really don't want to get into to it with them in the middle of such a nice party, so leave the main floor up the stairs to the opposite balcony and head for the waymarker.

After a short scene you'll be taken by surprised and be thrust into a fight, which activates the two optional objectives. The first part of the fight has you fighting against Hugo, who uses a standard weapon that you'll need to parry twice, and the second part is against Victor's heavy attacks, which are best dodged.

After both men are down a scene will occur and you'll need to escape the police and leave the area to complete the memory.

Memory 03 - High Society

Optional Objectives:Don't get into conflict

Outside the De La Serre residence you can continue the story to find out that the master will be out for a while and Elise is at a private party. Time to crash the party, but first you should head upstairs to examine some glowing items for some minor commentary and then slip the letter under De La Serre's office door.

After Arno makes a quick change of clothes and sneaks into the gala you'll need to use the crowds to hide from the guards and avoid being kicked out again. Head around the left side of the blue tent full of guards and head for the side of the building that is brightly lit with two red banners and climb up into the building.

Head to the doorway to the next room and wait for the guard to move over by his friend at the window before you pass through, hitting / to enter Stealth Mode. The next room is empty and you can head straight into the next room and take cover on the couch by pressing / . Wait for the guard to take position by either the fireplace or the bookshelf before you exit cover by pressing / again and then exit the room.

The empty hallway leads to another room with a guard, this one surrounded by a set of tables laid out in a U shape, so take cover by the first table. You need to stay in cover and switch from one table to another by holding the  and pressing / to switch the next cover spot. Wait for the guard to turn around and head for the window before you pass around the second table and then hop out the window and across to the other balcony for a scene.

Make your way around the area, using Eagle Vision to spot Elise and her father, and then enter the ballroom for another short scene. Once again you will find yourself following Elise through the beautiful French interiors until you trigger a scene.

Afterwards, hop out the window and down to the ground floor an make your way into the room with a bunch of cloth covered furniture. One of the guards here will walk off and leave, but the other stays and patrols back and forth between the furniture. Wait for the guard to turn his back and make your way around the room. Depending on how long you take the next guard may already be in position at the fireplace, meaning you can cross safely into a dining room. Continue to follow the guard, using the banquet table for cover, and then veer right in the next room full of cloth covered furniture to safely exit the palace for a scene.

Sequence 02

Memory 01 - Imprisoned

Optional Objectives:Two Smoke Bomb evasions
Three Perfect Parries

Blamed for the death of De La Serre, Arno finds himself thrown into the Bastille. Take a moment to look around, noting the familiar markings on the wall, and talk to everyone before you examine the cot to sleep off your hangover. In the morning the man that was in the room with all the Assassin writings will challenge Arno to a duel. This actually acts as a tutorial for perfect parries, which you should already know how to do, so deal with him for another scene and then use Eagle Vision to concentrate and reveal the writing.

The man introduces himself a Bellec and reveals the details of Arno's past, and who is father truly was. After two months, and likely countless hours training, the time comes to escape the Bastille with a little help from the revolting French that riot outside.

When you gain control again head to the room with the Assassin writings and take cover to allow the guards to enter. Once they settle in the room, break from cover and walk behind the far guard and stealth kill him as the screen prompts by holding / .

Bellec will run off and you should follow him until he reaches a gate and tells you to cover him. This will activate both of the optional objectives, so start by ticking off the Perfect Parries by pressing / when the attack bar flashes yellow and then kill off the enemies. When the second wave of guard appears you'll want to complete the second objective by tapping / to toss down a Smoke Bomb. You can continue to attack the enemies while they are stunned, but make sure you throw down three bombs before you kill off the final guard.

Bellec will finally open the gate, so run straight on and then turn left to ignore the guards and hop out the open window. Bellec will follow, or lead depending on how fast you are, and outside he'll run across the roofing and jump across some beams, cross a rope, and then climb to another window. Follow Bellec through the rooms to a door that he will kick down and then eliminate the guards outside.

After the guards are dead Bellec will continue by jumping to a beam and then climbing to the roof. Keep following Bellec until you trigger a scene and when you gain control leap of faith off the ledge to trigger the opening title and two cutscenes.

Memory 02 - Rebirth

Begin this memory outside Sainte-Chapelle and then climb the pillars to the second floor and enter the main hall. As soon as you enter turn around and climb up the beautifully painted walls to a balcony and interact with the light contraption for a quick scene that shifts the chandeliers inside.

Jump to the first chandelier and then swing to the second to reach the rope and cross to the opposite side. Continue across the chandeliers on this side of the room to the waymarker and then stand on the perch and look below. After the floor reveals the path forward, leap of faith into the darkness. After a short scene you can follow Bellec to the heart of the Assassin's hideout. After another scene approach the chalice in front of you and drink from it.

When you gain control head down the stairs to a room full of memories and leap of faith off the edge. You'll find yourself in the halls of Versailles, but as you progress toward the light the world around you will crumble.

Continue to run the linear path, jumping the gaps and making your way forward until you get a scene and the background changes. Head toward the building in the distance and the ground will crumble again and you'll need to jump from one platform to another as you make your way around the area until you get another scene. The area will change one last time, this time to a room full of people. Make your way through the crowds and around behind the target to assassinate him to complete the short memory.

Sequence 03

Memory 01 - Graduation

Optional Objectives:Three cover kills
Keep up with Bellec

Talk to Bellec on the rooftop to begin this mission. To safely get down into the area below without being spotted turn right and cross over the windows to reach the side of the area with the gargoyle water spouts and cross them to reach the area with two tents.

To complete the first optional objective you'll want to kill the three guards in this area from cover. Start by entering stealth mode and sneaking up behind the nearest guard, using the boxes for cover, and when the other guards aren't looking pull him over the boxes. You can now stand up to draw the attention of the next nearest guard and use the last known position to draw him over to you and kill him from cover too. The final guard is actually stationary by a pillar in the distance and you can easily get the final cover kill by skirting the outside of the area and take cover next to him for a quick kill.

With all the enemies taken care of you can walk up to the alarm bell sabotage it for a scene.

After the scene ends assassinate the remaining thug and then loot the evidence from the marked corpse. The second optional objective will trigger as a bunch of men enter the courtyard, so drop a Smoke Bomb to distract them and then follow Bellec up the side of the building. Cross the roof and pass through the building, jumping off the balcony to the rope below and crossing to the roof.

After Bellec drops to the ground, toss a Smoke Grenade by holding / to aim the grenade directly between the two guards and then kill both the guards. Follow Bellec through the streets, dropping bombs and killing the guards you encounter until you trigger a scene.

Bellec will take to the roofs now, making following him a bit more difficult, but the easiest way to keep up with him is to stick to the roofs even if he takes a different path through the buildings. If you do lose sight of Bellec, a waymarker will appear at the Assassin Headquarter for you to catch up.

Once you reach the headquarters, enter and head to the Council Chamber.

Memory 02 - Confession

Optional Objectives:Two kills from hiding spots
Don't trigger any alarms

Talk to Bellec on the rooftop by the Notre-Dame cathedral to begin this mission. This is the first mission where opportunity events that can change how the mission can be approached or handled. The first is an Infiltration opportunity, offered by the men that have stolen the keys of a priest, and the the other is a special Assassination Opportunity, offered by killing Sivert's partner.

The first thing to do is get those keys from the two men on the north side of the cathedral by following the roofs to get ahead of them. If you have the ability to Double Air Assassinate them then you should wait until they get close together to punch, but it is perfectly fine to just air assassinate one and then kill the other in open combat.

After you have the keys return to the front of the cathedral and check the map for a small (!) mark on the opposite side of the cathedral. You want to climb the buildings and then run over to this location to spot Duchesneau, initiating his movement, and then continue along the building to a lower level and jump into a haycart. Duchesneau will walk right past the haycart on the way to his destination, so wait patently and then kill him.

With the Notre Dame Keys Acquired and Confessional Kill Available, you can now enter the cathedral.

Head to the southeast side of the cathedral and look for the stairs icon on the mini-map to indicate an underground entrance and head over to climb down the well. Follow the sewers to a split and hug the left wall to find a small staircase leading up and press the button to reveal a hidden entrance to the cathedral.

Take a right inside the cathedral and hide behind the red curtains before you use Eagle Vision to check where the guards are. The first guard will remain stationary with his back to you, but the other will patrol the area. Neither of these guards pose a threat and should be left alone by simply walking by when they have their backs turned.

Head around the corner to the long hall on the outskirts of the cathedral and stop at the curtain separating you from the two guards on the other side. Here is a great place to use line of sight to draw the guards over one at a time and cover assassinate them.

Once both guards are gone, run forward to the haycart near the center of the cathedral and hop inside before using Eagle Vision to identify Silvert. Stay in the cart while Silvert walks past and when one of his guards stops at the cart you can get the first of your two hiding spot kills. Silvert will enter the confessional while the final guard remains outside, offering an easy kill.

When you are ready, enter the confessional and listen to Silvert if you like, just make sure to not take too long before you assassinate him or he will leave and you will miss out on the special kill opportunity and the final hiding spot kill.

After the scene it's time to leave the cathedral, so head back toward the haycart and use the lift to the second floor, turning right immediately and using the keys to exit the area and complete the mission.

Server Bridge: Paris 1898

This interlude will occur directly after finishing Sequence 03.

Looks like Abstergo is performing a server sweep and it's not something you want to be around for. As the Assassin's mention, you need to find the portal and exit the server before Abstergo catches up with you. While it may appear you have all the time in the world you may notice a section of the world has red bars streaking from the sky to the ground, this indicates the sweep and if you are caught in it you will desync from the game.

Make your way to the portal, either view the ground or the rooftops, and hop on in to teleport to 1898.

After the shift, enter the main road and head toward the Cafe Terminus and turn left to enter the metro under Paris. Take the stairs down and when you reach the station cross the tracks toward the light and climb the ladder on the other side.

The path is pretty linear through this bit, so keep going through the tunnels until you reach the tracks where the train passes and then turn right and cross to the opposite side. Use the pile of wood to your left to grab the pipes and make your way up the side of the area to reach the level above. Turn right and follow the right to a wooden ladder laid down and jump to the pole to the ropes and walk left to a new tunnel.

The tunnel is linear and leads to a scene in which Arno falls through a grate and onto the tracks with an oncoming train. Sprint away from the train, hold / to slip under and over the obstacles, and soon you will get another scene. You can now leave the tunnels by using the lift to reveal the location of the exit.

The path to the exit is fairly straight forward, but your path is hampered by the flying debris thrown around by the unstable vortex. Jump down and take cover behind the provided objects to avoid the debris and then make your way forward, continuing to drop when the debris comes flying. At the end of the path you'll need to climb the crane to reach the Statue of Liberty and then make your way around it and up to the exit.

Sequence 04

Memory 01 - The Kingdom of Beggars

Optional Objectives:Two Phantom Blade kills
Two Cherry Bomb lures

Make your way to the Assassin Headquarters to fill in the order on who is responsible for De La Serre's death and receive the Phantom Blade, a long range weapon that takes the place of darts in previous games.

Begin the memory in the la Cour des Miracles, where you will have to search to find the Templar La Touche. Despite the obvious path of heading through the search zone, it is actually faster to turn right and skirt the outside of the search zone to find La Touche in back corner of the search area in a small room with a man screaming.

After the scene, in which you may recognize the Marquis de Sade from his naked appearance in the Bastille, use Eagle Vision to see the bloody trail and follow it in stealth mode. As you approach La Touche's location he will begin a set pattern through the twisting maze of buildings. Instead of following La Touche directly you'll want to dead straight down the stairs to the opening across the way and turn right and then left, stopping just before the T-section. Wait for La Touche to turn right after yelling at someone before you head across the gap and then make your way outside.

Hide in the crowds as you follow La Touche from a distance and when you lose sight of him climb up the wooden structure straight ahead and use Eagle Vision to keep sight of him. Climb up to the left, since the spikes should be straight in front of you, and then carefully cross over the roof of the building and kill the first guard with the Phantom Blade. If you look off to the right, past the chimney, you should spot another guard on the roofs not to far away that can be killed to complete the optional objective.

Stay on the wooden platform of the building and continue to use Eagle Vision to tail La Touche until he exits below you and then hop to the adjacent building across the way to reach the nearby tower and climb up to a wooden perch where you can follow La Touche's progress across the street for a scene.

On the same level that you are on you should see another beam that points out toward the street that can be used to jump to the buildings in the restricted zone. Climb up to the roof and quickly air assassinate the guard on the other side before he spots you and then continue straight along the side of the search zone via the building roofs.

When you reach the tallest building you should see two guards on balconies: one hiding at the corner of the search area and the other on the balcony we want to jump to just below you. Make sure to take the one out in the distance with a Phantom Blade first, since he poses a threat of discovery, and then air assassinate the closer balcony guard. The guard inside the building will remain facing the window, but you can either quickly jump in and kill him or use a Cherry Bomb to distract him. No more guards stand between you and La Touche downstairs, so head down and enter the door for a scene.

You now need to escape the area by heading out the same way you came in, but make sure that before you leave the area you toss a Cherry Bomb into the courtyard of the buildings to complete the second optional objective.

Memory 02 - Le Roi est Mort

Optional Objectives:Three air assassinations
Two Phantom Blades kills

It's time to hunt down Le Roi des Thunes in the sewers below Paris, but first you'll want to complete the Opportunity Events that will help make your life easier.

As soon as the memory starts you can air assassinate the guard below and kill his friends, should they spot you and interfere. You can now walk over to the first chimney vent puffing out smoke and cover it with a piece of wood before climbing up the building, crossing the roof, and air assassinating the guard on the other side. The second chimney is nearby and you can cover it without hassle since the remaining guards have their back to you.

Equip your Smoke Bombs and then climb the buildings nearby and head toward the white circle with an (!) to spot a bunch of guards attacking civilians. You'll want to save as many of the rebels as you can, so toss a Smoke Bomb into the group and then get that final air assassination to reach the ground and finish off the remaining guards.

The rebels will run off and attack the guards to the north, allowing you to walk by without having to deal with a fight and enter the alley. There are two guards here that you can double assassinate, if you unlocked the skill, and then you can jump the wall and sneak into the sewers via the mausoleum. Downstairs there are three guards that you should be able to quietly take out when the patrolling guard begins to walk away from the entrance and then enter the sewers.

Follow the tunnels until you reach a room with two guards and wait for the patrolling guard to walk left before you walk in and take out the resting guard, following by the patrol. In the next room you'll be above the enemies, where you can air assassinate the stationary guard when the patrol walks away and then kill the patrol. The following room has three guards that are spread out enough that you can take them out pretty easily by killing the one straight ahead and then the other two who have their backs turned. To continue, climb up the wooded up tunnel exit and enter the main chamber for a scene.

After the scene you can exit out the opposite tunnel and take the left split to avoid the first set of enemies. Wait for the three guards in the next room to split up and then air assassinate one when the rest have their backs turned or just jump in for a fight. As you progress and slide under the bars La Touche will run away, but there's no need to worry about him now and you can turn right and climb the ladder up to the main chamber.

Despite the assassination waymarker being in the middle of the room, a quick Eagle Vision will reveal that the situation is actually a trap. Ignore the main entrance and turn right to slide under the sewer grates and climb the ladder on the far side of the room.

Le Roi des Thunes is on the opposite side of the area, but you don't want to try and attack him from here. Instead, turn right and jump down to kill the sniper next to you and then run along the beams to a locked door that you can pick. This tunnel will lead behind Le Roi des Thunes, so take your time and pull out your Phantom Blade and get a nice clean headshot before you kill him with a hidden blade for a scene.

Before escaping, make sure you get another Phantom Blade kill to complete the second optional objective. From the platform, hop down to the lower platform on your right and then the hanging platform in the middle of the room and into the tunnels via the waymarker. If you blocked both chimneys the tunnels will be covered in smoke, which allows you to run through pretty easy provided you give the guards a wide berth, and you can complete the mission.

Sequence 05

Memory 01 - The Silversmith

Optional Objectives:Lockpick four doors
Drive two Brutes berserk

Make your way to the Assassin Headquarters to fill in the order on the death of the King of Beggars and receive the ability to use pistols and rifles, along with the next clue in who is truly responsible for De La Serre's death. Time to track down the man who made the weapon that killed De La Serre, a silversmith known as Thomas Germain.

Begin the mission and ignore the front of the building by turning right and following the side of the building to the back, where you can climb up into a window in the northeast corner.

The room is empty, but the room next door is full of guards that pose a threat. Start by lockpicking the door in the empty room and then take cover by the doorway and assassinate the patrol that walks past it before you enter and kill the Brute behind the table. You can easily kill the final guard in the room by the window and then cross the hall into another room next to two Brutes. The two Brutes stick together, but if you use line of sight and the last known position you can pull them over and separate them enough for two clean kills.

Enter the room where the two Brutes were and turn left to find another door that you can lockpick and enter and turn right for a third door. This will lead back into the room where the Brutes were located and you can interact with the other door here for a scene.

After the scene take cover by the doorway and watch as a Brute walks up stairs and past the door and then walk out and take cover on the screen divider and cover kill him when the other guard walks up to the railing. You can now take out the other two guards easily and head toward the staircase leading down, but do not head down and instead use a Berserk Blade to make the Brute crazy.

Wait for the Brute to kill off the majority of the guards before you head down and finish them off and then find the locked door nearby for the final lockpick. This will lead you to another room with a some guards that your can quietly stealth kill when the Brute moves from the doorway and then make your way to the main hall. This area is full of enemies, but with the final Berserk Blade you can dwindle the numbers by having the Brute help you out.

With the area clear the game will highlight two snipers outside that you need to deal with. Equip your Phantom Blades and head out the side door, where you can't be seen, to take the lift up to the roof and shoot them from behind.

Germain will begin to call for help from inside, but do not enter and instead stand outside the doorway and use Eagle Vision to identify the enemies and headshot them to avoid a close combat situation.

Memory 02 - La Halle Aux Bles

Optional Objectives:Three pistol kills
Slide under/over 4 objects

In order to make this mission easier it is best to stay stealthy, but due to the requirement to get three pistol kills you will want to do this before entering the restricted zone.

Start by hoping down into the main area and kill the two guards at the restricted zoneline with pistol headshots, but make sure that not random thugs are walking around the area who will get involved. Now head around the area counter-clockwise to the next set of guards and take them out as well to complete the optional objective.

Return to the main entrance and enter the central area. There are a number of guards here, but you want to avoid then by taking cover on the haystacks and passing the gap to the opposite side of the area.

The two guards here patrol the area, so before you enter make sure they have their back turned and then take cover behind the carts and barrels. If you are lucky enough to have the Brute is still examining the other barrels and will walk over to you for an easy cover kill. The other guard will lean against the wall for a bit and can be take by either circling around the huge kegs and taking him from the far side or you can go in for the kill by hugging the wall.

On the same wall that the guard was leaning against is some wooden planks that you can climb to assassinate the sniper and then cross the rope to climb up to the waypoint for a scene.

Well, you can't go down now so the only option is to go up while getting the other optional objective. Head through the door and get the first over by sliding across the barrels straight ahead and then slide under the gap in the wall. Turn right in the next room and jump the gap to slide under the collapsing beams and enter the room on the opposite side of the building.

Turn left and run around the barrels for a slow-mo event and run up the plank to the other side. Make sure to slide across the barrels here for the final check to complete the optional objective and then jump to the central column and climb up. Use the beam to jump to the platform on the outside and then turn right to cross the outside of the area and return to the center for a scene.

Cross along the rope to the beam on the right and then turn and jump to the wooden wall jutting out and pull up to reach the exit for another scene.

Memory 03 - The Prophet

Optional Objectives:Sabotage four alarm bells
Three cover kills

Head to the le Cimetiere des Innocents to begin this mission and climb down and follow the wall south to find an entrance in the corner. There are two Opportunity Events in this missions, both of which are rather easy to complete.

Enter the search area and head straight for the alarm bell by the pile of skulls and sabotage it. Instead of continuing inside, return to the entrance and turn right to take the stairs down into the tunnels. As you progress you'll come across a group of guards harassing some rebels, but if you toss down a Smoke Bomb then you should have no problem taking them out. Continue through the tunnels until you reach a set of stairs and carefully walk up.

There are two guards here, both of which you can take out with Phantom Blade attacks, and then enter the courtyard and sabotage the second bell. Turn right and walk toward the gate and headshot the guard straight ahead and wait for the nearby Brute to check his body in order to headshot him too. A sniper in the straight ahead on the roofs will spot you if you try and move around in the area, so run straight forward, past the plans, and climb up to ledge assassinate him. This leaves the nearby bell open to sabotage.

The area on the opposite side of the wall has two guards, one that is stationary and one that patrols back and forth. Wait for the patrol to begin walking away and then climb the wall and air assassinate the guard, followed by his buddy. You can now walk forward and sabotage the final bell, but watch out for the guard that patrols between this bell and the first one you sabotaged.

With all the bells now sabotaged you can return and pick up the plans to continue, but you'll need to find a good hiding spot until nightfall. Head back to where you first entered the area by the first alarm bell and hop in the haycart until nightfall.

As soon as you have control hop out of the cart and take cover on the side of the cart to cover kill the guard leaning against it. There are two guards by the first bell, one standing by a tombstone and another patrolling the area between the piles of skulls. Wait for the patrol to turn his back and take cover on the tombstone for a cover kill and then turn around and run straight back into the outer area before the patrol turns back around.

Follow the covered walkway until you see another entrance with some guards and you should see a group of NPC gathered by a mausoleum. Hop over the wall and walk over to them and use Eagle Vision to spot a guard off to the left and right that face the mausoleum. Using line of sight and the last known position, drawn the guards over and cover kill them to complete the second optional objective.

There is nothing left to do now except kill Lafreniere, so walk to the left, toward the pile of bones, and you should see a hiding spot on the right that Arno can slip into. Lafreniere will walk right by this outhouse, so just wait until he walks by and silently kill him and then leave the area to complete this mission.

Sequence 06

Memory 01 - The Jacobin Club

Optional Objectives:Two Snipers driven berserk
Two kills from hiding spots

The assassination of Lafreniere has left Arno with questions about the upcoming raid on the l'Hotel de Beauvais. There's nothing else that can be done except to investigate further at the hotel.

Head to the waymarker outside the hotel to spot La Touche and then jump down from the chimney, cross the wooden ladder, turn left to jump to the next building, and then use a Berserk Blade on the nearby sniper. Leave the sniper to die and climb up the building and run along the roof until you are across from the next set of guards, one patrolling and two snipers. Wait for the guard that is patrolling to momentarily stop and headshot him with a Phantom Blade before you jump over and berserk another sniper and then descend to the ground.

Head to the back corner of the building and climb up to the balcony before you turn right and follow it to a small landing and enter the building. There are a group of enemies here that you can avoid by taking cover on the couch and then moving forward and entering a doorway on the left to reach an upper balcony. Use Eagle Vision to spot La Touche in the audience below and then hop to the chandelier and across to the other side.

Take cover by the doorway and when the patrolling guard walks by enter stealth mode and follow him at a distance so that you can enter the hiding spot directly ahead. Stay there until the guard circles back and this time kill him for your first hiding spot kill.

Ignore the other guard in the room and take cover at the doorway and use Eagle Vision to see where the guard in the next room is. If they are knocking on the right door then you are clear to wait until he begins to walk left to carefully enter the room and get in the hiding spot between the two doorways. Stay until the guard walks by and kill him and then wait for La Touche to pass and head upstairs.

Once La Touche is upstairs, exit the hiding spot and turn left to leave the building and then turn around and climb the wall to the right of the door to see where La Touche has gone. Wait for the short scene and then men to rush downstairs and then follow them down, but when you reach the ground floor head straight left and continue into the basement and reach the waymarker.

After the scene there will be guards outside the room you are in. You can either lockpick the nearby door to avoid them or use Phantom Blades to kill the first two and hidden blade the last one. Take the stairs up to the first floor and Phantom Blade or stealth kill the guard and then stay on the first floor and head to the doorway under the stairs.

The two guards on the first floor can be avoided by using the crowd or you can engage them with your remaining tools or in straight combat. Inside the main room where you first identified La Touche is a wardrobe that you can use to reach the balcony above and then continue out the same way you originally came in.

Memory 02 - Templar Ambush

Optional Objectives:Four headshots
Two double assassinations

Elise is about to step into a trap set by the Templars, so head to her house to start the mission for a scene. Elise has already headed off to the nearby gardens, so head to the waymarker to save Elise from the Templars by engaging them in combat.

After defending Elise from the Templar a quick scene will occur. Follow Elise out of the area, over a balcony, and slide under a hedge to find more guards attacking you. Take care of the enemies and climb the tower at the center of the maze to get a view of the land.

Look around and you should see two guards that are close enough to headshot with some Phantom Blades. This maze is hard to navigate, so I will be mentioning turns that you should follow or else you'll get lost.

From the tower:

  • Exit the tower area to the north.
  • Turn right and check the hedge on the left for a gap that you can slide under and get your first double assassination.
  • From the enemies head north and turn left toward the area with a small fountain and headshot the single guard.
  • Take the north exit of this area and follow it to a set of three guards.
  • Turn left instead of heading toward the three guards and circle around the hedge to find a gap that you can slide under for another double assassination before finishing off the third guard.
  • Slide back under the gap and turn right to headshot another guard.
  • Turn left from the guard and take the right path and follow it to a T section.
  • If you need another double assassination, because you messed up previously, you can turn left to sneak up behind two guards facing a locked door. If not, take a right and you will see the exit straight ahead.

The fast paced section of this mission will now begin, in which you and Elise must quickly deal with some enemies as you try and escape.

Follow Elise and sneak up behind the marked enemy on the right and kill him. Elise will run off, so follow her and take out the next marked guard and continue through the crowds to the next set of marked guards.

When Arno mentions snipers on the balconies you can climb the lamppost and move forward to headshot the first sniper. Jump across the awnings to the balcony with the dead sniper and aim across the street to kill another sniper. You can now jump down to kill the final guard for a scene.

After the scene, drop a Smoke Bomb and run from the hills to complete the mission.

Sequence 07

Memory 01 - A Cautious Alliance

Optional Objectives:Stun three enemies with Stun Bombs
Three headshots

Meet Elise at the Cafe Theatre and after a scene in which you visit the Assassin HQ follow her on foot through the streets. Arno will fill in Elise, but as soon as Germain's name is mentioned she will take off running. Follow Elise through the street of Paris until you reach Germain's workshop and learn what set her off.

After the scene follow Elise into the building and upstairs into Germain's office for a scene. As Elise guesses the whole plan is a trap and three guards will be making their way upstairs. Wait for them to enter the room and then drop some Stun Bombs to get the first optional objective before you finish them off.

After another short scene that reveals Germain's true alliance, equip your Phantom Blades and take aim on the snipers outside. You want to make sure to get at least three headshots on the four snipers, so take your time aiming and make sure to take their movements into account. If you happen to run out of Phantom Blades you can still use your pistol to get the headshots, as the objective does not require a weapon.

Memory 02 - Meeting with Mirabeau

Optional Objectives:Slide under/over 5 objects
Use one lift

With the identity of Germain now in hand head to Mirabeau's place to warn the Master Assassin. Make your way into the house and head up to the third floor for a scene in Mirabeau's bedroom.

Someone has assassinated Mirabeau and since Elise is the prime suspect it is up to Arno to prove otherwise. Start by examining Mirabeau in bed to find the same pin that killed De La Serre and then find a handkerchief on the floor by his bed. On the nearby desk is a book that you can check to see who visited Mirabeau last and then head to the wardrobe on the opposite side of the room to find the final clue. Although you can accuse Elise, the objective suggest you talk to Master Quemar in the Assassin HQ.

Quemar will agree to give Arno some time to find the real killer once he explains that Elise couldn't be involved and directs Arno to an apothecary who may be able to provide you with answers. So make your way to the apothecary for a scene.

You'll need to run after the apothecary to try and tackle him, while completing the optional objectives. Run through the tunnels and when the apothecary turns left you'll want to continue straight to slide under and then cross over two beams. Continue to follow him through the tunnels until you exit and continue to follow him through the park.

When the apothecary throws a second Smoke Bomb near a building he covers up an entrance through some arches, so head straight through the smoke to a courtyard. This is where you can complete the second optional objective by using the lift to the right of the window on the other side of the fountain. Keep up with the apothecary by jumping into the trees and passing through the buildings and descend on the other side.

When you reach the park you can slide over a few more park benches to complete the optional objective and then tackle the apothecary to complete the mission.

Memory 03 - Confrontation

Optional Objectives:Use Staggering Strike 5 times
Don't get knocked down

The apothecary gave you the location of the rest of the stash that he left for Mirabeau's killer. Head to the location to begin this mission and then use Eagle Vision to track the "scent" of the killer to the nearby cathedral. After a scene climb the left pillar and make your way to the roof to find the killer, Bellec himself.

The fight against Bellec takes place across four stages, each more aggressive than the next with Bellec going from standard attacks to heavy attacks and then bombs. The best strategy is to use your Smoke and Stun Bombs to allow you to create long combos and Staggering Strike to knock Bellec off balance. Watch out for when Bellec drops his sword and screams because that means he's going to use Staggering Strike himself, so make sure you roll away or use Staggering Strike to create a "tie". It is best to play it safe until you learn Bellec's attack cues so that you don't fail the second optional objective.

Once you deplete Bellec's health you're forced to assassinate him for a scene.

Server Bridge: Paris 1944

This interlude will occur directly after finishing Sequence 07.

Make your way through the streets of Paris toward the portal and climb the wooden structure to leap of faith into the portal.

You begin in the sewers under Paris, so head through and climb to the surface just next to the Eiffel Tower. You want to stay out of the spotlights in the following mission to avoid gunfire, so climb over the tank and head for the base of the Eiffel Tower where you can run to a gap in the fence and begin your climb. As you climb up the structure you'll want to avoid the spotlight again.

Arno will climb up onto the small ledge where you can run right to trigger a small scene that causes Arno to drop inside the Eiffel Tower's metal structure. Cross the beam and jump from one hanging platform to another to the metal mesh on the other side and climb up. Head straight up the restaurant facade and turn left to jump to the lift shaft and climb up to a ladder.

As you run around the outside of the Eiffel Tower a plane will shoot down at your location, so take cover behind the boxes and then move up the the machine gun. You'll need to shoot down the plane as it passes, but avoid its fire by holding / when it passes to fire. When the plane is taken care of climb up the boxes nearby, and climb the rope up to the Zeppelin for a scene. After the quick scene you'll need to climb the tail of the Zeppelin and cross the rope to a lift.

Once you land hop on the metal wall and begin your climb again, avoiding the spotlight, until you reach the barbed wire and enter the V shaped metal on the left to access another elevator and climb up for a scene.

Climb up and head outside again for another encounter with some planes and then man the machine gun. Once again you'll need to take out both planes, so focus your fire on the planes up until a few seconds after they begin to fire on you before you hide and they should be gone pretty quickly.

Make your way around the outside of the area to climb some boxes and then make your way up the center pillar to the top of the Eiffel Tower. When the portal shifts perform a leap of faith into the portal.

Sequence 08

Memory 01 - The King's Correspondence

Optional Objectives:Sabotage three alarm bells
Perform three cover kills

Head to the Assassin HQ to learn that Mirabeau was in correspondence with the king and the letters need to be recovered from the palace before the rebels siege the the palace, leaving the papers in the Templars hands.

After gaining control outside the palace descend to the ground and walk through the crowds on the outskirts of the restricted area until you reach the far wall and climb up to the roof. If you look right you'll see a sniper, but you don't want to get his attention by simply walking up to him. Hop over to the other side of the building and climb along its side to get behind him on the next tower and air assassinate him.

Climb back up the tower and turn right to spot a Brute patrolling below and when he begins to walk away descend and stealth kill him, along with the sniper on the railing to the right. Return to the other side of the building and look below to spot two guards patrolling in a circle and one patrolling in the middle. Wait for the two patrols to pass under Arno and do a double air assassination. This will draw the attention of the third guards, who you want to kill without drawing the attention of any of the nearby guards or allowing him to ring the bell. You can now sabotage the first bell.

Carefully head northeast and use headshots to quietly take out the two guards. On the opposite side, take cover and shoot the far guard so the other walks over to check the corpse, allowing you to sneak up behind him for a stealth kill. You can now sabotage the second bell and then return to the first and climb back up to the roof.

Look down into the courtyard and leap of faith into the haycart below. Wait for the guard to walk over and kill him and then check the location of the other guards. Wait for the Brute to begin to walk away and then enter stealth mode and sneak through the rubble to the bell and sabotage it, making sure to return to the haycart before the Brute begins to walk back. Head the opposite way this time and hop the small wall to climb the ladder on the other side to assassinate the sniper.

You can now climb in the building and turn right, taking cover behind an overturned table. Wait for the Brute to leave the room and then cover assassinate the guard and then head to the other door. Take cover while you wait for the Brute to return and then cover kill him and then the guard inside the room. Exit the other side of the room just enough to draw the attention of the guard in the next room and use last known position to cover kill him at the doorway.

Head back to the window and this time face the staircase and use Eagle Vision to check where the guard on the first floor is. Wait for the guard to walk away from the door before you walk down and kill the guard in the middle of the staircase and then begin to head up the opposite stairs, using Eagle Vision again to check the patrolling guards location on the other side. When the guard passes and begins to walk off to the left it is clear to head up and kill the stationary guard with a cover kill from the table before hiding in the wardrobe. Now wait for the patrol to return and kill him from the hiding spot.

There is a single Brute between you and the waymarker, but he is easily taken care of by using line of sight to kill him from cover or just go in and aggressively take him out. Now enter the king's chamber for a scene to continue the story.

After the scene activate Eagle Vision to mark the wardrobe and examine it for another scene. When the rebels enter you'll need to hold off waves of enemies for two minutes by using Smoke and Stun Bombs. When time runs out another scene will trigger and you'll then just have to follow Napoleon to complete the mission.

Memory 02 - September Massacres

Optional Objectives:Three cover kills
Three ledge assassinations

Speak to Napoleon to learn that Rouille is storming the Le Grand Chatelet prison.

After the scene you'll begin outside the prison on a perch and can leap of faith into the haycart below. Don't head straight for the prison, instead jump over the bridge and enter the tunnels on the other side. The sewers will lead to a ladder in the prison and to an iron gateway, which is sometimes bugged closed and will require you to restart the memory.

Inside the prison you'll want to take out the two guards to the right, which can be annoying due to the platform they stand on, and then jump out the window and stand on the perch. The courtyard below has the officers held captive by Rouille's men, so pull out your Phantom Blades to deal with the guards quietly. Climb the crates near the iron gate to climb the wall and reenter the prison.

There are two guards inside that you'll want to silent take care of. The first one is dealing with a body, but the other will walk toward the cell straight ahead. Wait for the guard to walk over to the cells and silently kill him and then quickly take out the other. The next room has a guard that patrols the right side of the room while the left is nodding off. Wait for the one on the right to begin walking away before you take out the sleeping guard and then kill the other.

Exit the other side of the cell area and turn left to a dining hall and hide behind the table. There are two guards here, one that will remain stationary at far door while the other walks over to the window. Wait for the guard to gaze out the window before you kill him and then finish off the other by the door. Upstairs the officers will help you out by assisting with a large group of enemies that you need to kill before moving on.

Enter the next room and pass the circular stone and take cover behind the small boxes on the other side. Provided you aren't detected the Brute will walk up to the boxes and can be cover killed, followed by the Defender that patrols the back of the room. You can ignore the remaining guards if you like and head straight to the locked cell door, or take them out and loot their bodies.

Make your way through the cell and climb right to the roof so that you can reach the wall that the two snipers stand on. You want to climb to the snipers and ledge assassinate them for the optional objective, but if you climb along the top you will be spotted. This means you want to drop down to the lower half of the wall so that you can still cross left, but will not be detected by the guards. Once in position under the first sniper make sure that the patrol isn't looking and then ledge assassinate him. Drop down again and crawl left to the second sniper and repeat to kill him as well.

Climb back to the roof to the right and cross over to the other side where a wooden platform is. To your left is the main tower you saw in the cutscene at the beginning of the mission, so freerun over there and climb up the side to light it flag aflame.

You'll need one more ledge kill to complete the optional objective, so jump back to the wall and shimmy right along it the same way you did on the opposite side and then pop up and ledge pull him over when the patrol is walking away. When the patrol returns you can ledge assassinate him too, in case you messed up somewhere, and then shimmy all the way right to another roof.

There is one more guard between you and the platform that Rouille is on, so pop up and kill him and then carefully walk up the steps toward Rouille. You have two choices, one is to go in quickly and throw down some Smoke Bombs to distract the guards and kill Rouille or toss one up and then run up and kill him. Either way, kill Rouille and rush out of the area to complete the mission.

Sequence 09

Memory 01 - Starving Times

Optional Objectives:Don't touch the water
Don't trigger any alarms

Meet up with Elise to learn more about the grain shortages and where to begin in tracking down Marie Levesque, the woman responsible who also happens to be working for Germain. This mission is short, but it is primarily a platforming mission with precision needed to complete the optional objectives.

After the scene head for the waymarker at the dock to begin this mission. To track the boat without falling in the water or losing sight of it turn right at the start and jump off the ramp to the rope and follow it to its end before you jump down. Rush over to the boat house by the water and climb up, following the rope again, and then jump up and run through the buildings and out the other side.

Jump off the perch to the lower docks and cross them to the pylons sticking out of the water to cross them. Run up the ramp leaning against the house and hope off the other side and to the beach. As you run along the beach avoiding the many obstacles a crate will fall from above, so be careful when running around its left side to avoid stepping in the water.

Run straight and take the lift up and jump to the beam to follow the wall across some wooden platforms and beams. You should keep going until you reach the bridge and up and climb over for a scene.

You'll return at the middle of the bridge with the water below, but instead of jumping in turn right and head back toward the buildings. You need to head toward the far side of the restricted zone, but many of the thugs line the street and can cause problems. The best strategy is to stick as close to the buildings as possible and when you come reach the multiple guards that block the road you can head into the yard of the nearby building and climb up it. Once on the roof you should see a perch with some birds to indicate a leap of faith into the haycart on the docks.

Kill the guard leaning against the haycart and then wait for the Brute to walk over and kill him too. You can now run down the dock, hop into the water, and swim over to the back of the platform with the target. Before climbing out of the water you'll want to use Eagle Vision to check the location of the patrol on the left side of the dock. This guard needs to be taken care of before you approach the target, so wait for him to get within view and then shoot a Phantom Blade in his face. Once dealt with you'll wait for the target to investigate the corpse and kill him, or sneak up behind him on the platform.

Loot the orders from the corpse and then make your way back to the haycart and climb the wall enough to avoid the guards down the dock and exit the zone area.

Memory 02 - Hoarders

Optional Objectives:Rescue Thomas Levesque
Don't trigger any alarms

Time to assassinate Marie Levesque, that damn hoarder who is working for Germain to cause an uprising against the royal family.

After the cutscene head across the roof and air assassinate one of the guards bothering the merchant and then kill the other. The merchant will ask you to cover him as he continues down the street, so climb the palace wall and climb to the roof and head right. There is a small rope, behind the trees, that leads to the next building where you can stand and wait with your Phantom Blades until the cart is attacked by two guards.

Take the first two guards out with headshots and then look left along the street for the next set of two enemies and take them out when they stop as well. The final wave of guys is actually on your side of the street, below you to the left, and they usually are angry and will try to fire at you. Once all six enemies are dead you can hop down and talk to the merchant to complete the opportunity event.

There is a merchant near the first set of guards you killed that is a great place to refill you Phantom Blades.

Make your way back to the restricted area and head to the (!) just before the main gate. This will trigger the beginning of your second opportunity, but you'll need to climb up the wall and kill the sniper to continue. Turn left into the tower and kill the guard there and then exit the other side and kill another sniper before you return to the other side.

Look down into the courtyard and you should see a rope just below you that you can jump down to. Wait there, using Eagle Vision to see the key holder on the other side of the courtyard, and when the two men arrive the cell below you and are both highlighted in red perform an air assassination. Quickly loot the key from the corpse and unlock the cell and then turn left and climb the ladder back up to the landing.

You'll need to be quick with the next part, so you can complete the opportunity without drawing attention and potentially triggering an alarm, so run to the other side of the landing through the tower and jump to the rope on this side too. Look at the carriage with the two guards and when the rebels trigger them into combat, make sure they are both in combat, jump down and unlock the second cell and climb back up to the landing.

Head back to the other landing again, but this time run straight at the building and climb up to the roof. Turn left and look across the way and you should see an open window, so carefully make your way over there while being careful of the guard inside spotting you.

Wait for the guard to turn his back to the window before you jump in and kill him and then walk down the hall and take cover at the doorway. There is a bell in the next room, along with three guards. Wait for the patrolling guard walk your way to hit him with a Berserk Blade and then finish off the remaining guard(s). Once the area is clear you can sabotage the bell for points and jump out the window on the far side of the room.

Turn right outside and shimmy around the building to another window and hop inside to find Marie's husband and lockpick the door. Thomas will run down the hall and down the stairs, but you want to walk over to the other locked door. Use Eagle Vision and make sure that there isn't a Brute on the other side, or that he is walking away, and then lockpick the door to enter.

Enter and turn left straight away to sneak up behind a sniper for a silent kill and then reenter the hall. You'll want to kill the Brute on his return trip down the hall, so move down the hall a bit and take cover on the small balcony off to the left with no sniper and kill the Brute after he passes. As you continue down the hall watch out for the guard in the next room, who can come close enough to spot you, is off by the window and then make your way to the other balcony and kill the sniper.

Marie Levesque walks around the banquet floor below, but you don't want to stand on the railing until she is directly below you because her vision is really good. Wait for her to cross below you, climb up and make sure she is targeted, and assassinate her.

You now need to escape, with a ton of guards on your tail. Turn around and take the open door in the corner behind you and then hang a right. The second opening on the left leads to a staircase heading down, so hop the railing and head downstairs. Take two lefts to jump out the window and leave the area to complete the mission.

Memory 03 - The Escape

Optional Objectives:Keep up with Montgolfiere
Don't touch the ground

Time to catch up to Elise and see how good it went with getting the grain out of the building. Welp, it looks like it didn't go as smoothly as possible.

You'll need to cut the three ropes holding the balloon in place, but the guards will make this a pain. I suggest you drop Smoke Bombs to ignore the enemies, since Elise will slowly take them out, and start with the far one in the back and make your way around.

Once you cut the balloon free use the lift to reach the roof and turn right. Climb up to the highest roof and then turn left and jump off the beam. Head straight and at the end of the next roof jump to the roof to cross and then climb the ramp. Head straight across the wooden planks and continue across the buildings until the balloon begins to be off to the right a bit and then turn right along the buildings.

When you jump down next to the sniper you'll want to make sure to turn left and climb up the building before you continue to follow the balloon. When the balloon crosses an open plaza and it looks like you have nowhere to go turn left and you should see a rope to the Apothicaire/Cafe building. Jump to the roof on the right so you are on that side of the street and continue to follow the balloon across a rope and then climb up and set it free.

Although you regain control on the ground this does not count as a penalty toward your optional objective, so head across the way and take either lift up. The next bit is actually totally a straight shot over and through the buildings to a scene that completes the mission.

Sequence 10

Memory 01 - A Dinner Engagement

Optional Objectives:Drive two Brutes berserk
Perform two double assassinations

There are two distinct way to complete this mission, depending on which of the two Opportunity Events you want to trigger:

  • The poisoned wine kill requires stealth and one mistake can ruin the mission
  • The window bribery kill requires you to pay 4,000 F and requires you to engage more enemies

Poison Wine Assassination

After the scene you'll be on a ledge above the crowds. There are three different ways that this mission can begin, depending on the patrols that pass through the area: the first is there are no patrols (1), the next is that the guards are walking below and away from the crowd (2), and the last is that the guards are engaged in combat with some rebels (3).

Leap of faith into the haycart below to reach the ground and then do one of the following, based on the patrols:

1) If there are no guards then skip to the next section.

2) If the guards are walking away from the crowd then follow them closely and get an easy double assassination, finishing of the final two guards.

3) If the guards are currently engaged in combat then wait until the fight ends and the guards walk past the cart before you hop out and sneak up behind them for a double assassination.

Return to the haycart and use Eagle Vision to identify the two stationary guards by the main entrance and work your way in their direction. Circle around them and head over to the single guard leaning against the wall and hidden blade kill him and then return to the two stationary guards for a double assassination. There are very few Brutes in this mission, so you'll need to run out of your way to the east to find a Brute by a haycart and Berserk Blade him before you return to the main entrance.

Head west this time and at the end of the restricted zone turn right, climb up into the planter, and then up the building wall to the landing. Use Eagle Vision to spot the sniper to the northeast and when his back is turned climb up and kill him from behind. You can now continue north, slowly, to another landing with a Brute that can easily be Berserk Bladed and when he engages the other guards in combat jump down and stand on the left railing. There are two guards directly below you that if lined up properly they will both be highlighted in red and you can get another double assassination, though this is not required if you already got the two completed thanks to a patrol appearing outside the main gates.

Turn around and head into the courtyard to reach the wine cart and steal some wine before you return to where you killed the guards and turn right to a window. Use Eagle Vision to get a view of the area and then wait for the guard that patrols by the window to turn his back and quickly hop in and over the wall to the left to walk upstairs (do not run unless you are spotted). If you are spotted, and it's highly possible you will be, run up the stairs and turn right to hide in a room while the guards lose sight of you and reset.

Blend in with the crowds and slowly make your way to the (!) and place the bottle for a scene. Use Eagle Vision to identify your target in gold and hold your position while the waiter brings the wine over to Le Peletier. Eventually Le Peletier will leave his chair and walk past the bar and into the hall behind you. This is your opportunity to walk over and assassinate him.

After the scene you will likely be under attack, so run back the same way you entered and hop out the window and continue left to leave the zone and finish the mission.

Bribery Assassination

Head east to find two guards and carefully walk up behind them and aim it so both are lined in red for a double assassination, or if you already completed the optional objective you can Berserk Blade the Brute.

Turn left to run down the east side of the building until you reach the far corner with another gate and two flags. Climb up the window under the left flag to the roof and use Eagle Vision to spot a Brute on the roof and shoot a Berserk Blade into him when it's safe. Cross the roof to the opposite landing and hop over the ledge and descend into the courtyard.

The woman nearby can be bribed for the Infiltration Opportunity, but it will cost you 4,000 F. Pay the woman and climb the ladder nearby to enter the building and turn around the corner to a call and use Eagle Vision. Enter the hall and stab the Defender when his back is to you and then enter the next room and quickly kill the two guards. The next hall has a Brute in it, which you can hit with a Berserk Blade if you still need one more, and once the area is clear hang by the right doorway into the area with Le Peletier.

You need to enter the area enough to get the conversation started, but as soon as you hear him request some wine exit and take cover by the door. After a few minutes Le Peletier will leave the dining hall and walk through the door you are at, allowing you to get a cover kill. Now exit out the same way you entered and leave the area to complete the mission.

Memory 02 - The Execution

Optional Objectives:Kill two snipers
Stun five enemies

The execution of the king guarantees Germain's presence, so Elise and Arno head off in the hopes of catching him off guard.

After the scene, leap of faith into the haycart and then get out and climb the pole to the ropes. Follow the outer ropes to reach the first watchtower with a sniper and kill him. With the sniper out of the way you can now cross the rope that he was looking at by dropping down, climbing another pole, and then running left. Continue to follow the rope around until it ends and then look straight cross to see another pole that starts a new rope path. Drop to the ground and cross through the crowd to climb the pole and continue along the new rope path to the end. Jump to the watchtower to your right to kill the second sniper and then drop to the ground.

Germain is in the nearby tent, but you'll want to walk through the crowd and around the carriage to approach him from behind for a scene.

Equip your Stun Bombs after the scene and toss a few down to complete the second optional objective. Your only objective now is to follow Elise and kill any guards that she engages, but make sure to abandon the battles if she runs off. Eventually you'll lose Germain and another scene will trigger to complete the mission.

Memory 03 - Council Meeting

Return to the Assassin HQ, where the council will determine that Arno seeks only revenge and is a danger to the Brotherhood. In light of his actions, Arno is dispelled from the Assassin Brotherhood and forced to leave.

Sequence 11

Memory 01 - Bottom of the Barrel

Optional Objectives:Four Cherry Bomb lures
Two Poison Gas kills

This mission will begin directly after the last with a hung over Arno trying to figure out what happened the night before, as well as where his father's watch is.

The game flashes back to the night before, with Arno being kicked out of the bar. Head straight through the arch to take cover by the wall and equip your Cherry Bombs. Toss the bomb in the back of the area to draw over the guards, throwing a second as needed to get all four lures for the optional objective, and then follow the wall, run across the gap and take cover on the other side. Wait for the Brute to turn away and run up the vined building on your right to reach the street.

Run north a bit until your under the balcony of the building with the waymarker and climb up, using Eagle Vision to make sure no guards are near the opening and can spot you when you climb up onto the balcony. The Brute inside will patrol from the right side of the room to the left, so wait for him to be on the right side of the room to enter and hide behind the wall and then when he moves left interact with the barrel for a scene.

Back in the present, hop out the window and make your way to the bar for a scene. In another flashback you'll need to fight off the thugs, but they will just keep coming until you are dealt enough damage and another scene will trigger. After another scene, chase down the thugs and tackle him to learn where his boss is located.

Back in Versailles, wait for the men in the next room to move left to a table and then enter and assassinate him, followed by his buddy. Continue into the next room and wait for the Brute to move away and then enter and take cover on the right to cover kill the thug. Wait for the Brute to check the window and move right before you walk over and kill the stationary guard by the window and then take walk cover to the cloth covered couch and take cover.

There are two guards near the Brute's location, but in order to pull them all close enough for a Poison Gas kill you'll need to Berserk Dart the Brute and then toss the bomb in after. Clean up anyone who survives the gas and loot their bodies, hopefully getting another Poison Gas bomb for later, and then make your way down the long hall to the next room.

Take cover by the doorway and use Eagle Vision to track the Brute in the next room and kill him when he approaches the door or has his back to you. If you still haven't gotten a Poison Gas bomb back you'll want to loot his body, and any other guards you down, and then head to the bedroom to kill two more guards when they have their backs turned.

Exit the room and turn left down a hall to a balcony and wait for the Defender to walk toward the back of the room and then air assassinate the guard leading against the statue, followed by the Defender. Enter the building again and take cover against the wall and wait for the patrol to walk past before killing him and then take cover behind the long table. The other patrol should walk pass, for an easy cover kill, and then you can kill the stationary guard at the back of the room.

Continue through the building to the large room with a patrol that circles the room and kill him when he turns his back before you take out the stationary guard behind the piano. Now make your way down the hall that you should recognize from childhood and keep an eye out for a doorway on the left side.

The leader patrols this room with some buddies, but there is no need to just walk straight in. Wait for the target to pass by the doorway and toss a Cherry Bomb in to distract him and hit him with a Berserk Blade. This will engage the others in combat and allow you to toss another Poison Gas bomb if you got one or run in with some Smoke Bombs and easily finish off the excess guards to complete the mission.

Memory 02 - Rise of the Assassin

Optional Objectives:Three headshots
Four cover kills

It's time to catch up with our old friend La Touche, who's been busy running the guillotine night and day.

You begin the memory on a rooftop just outside the restricted zone. Turn right and jump diagonally across the rooftops to the southwest and then cross the rope to the south. Follow the edge of the blue roof to the right and hop to the brown roofed building and enter the first window, crossing the room and taking cover. Wait for the sniper outside to cross from the opposite window and get an easy cover kill before backtracking outside the window. Climb the roof and follow it around to the next roof with another sniper and sneak up to assassinate him and then Phantom Blade the sniper on the watchtower.

Drop to the ground, outside the restricted zone, and take cover by the doorway to the building and wait for the patrol inside to come over for a cover kill. Enter the building and kill the Brute and then exit out the other side and blend with the crowd. Walk left and enter the building, immediately taking cover by the door, and when the patrol comes by kill him.

Exit and blend with the crowd again and walk north toward the (!), making sure that the patrol is on the far side before you interact with the cloth to draw over the crowd. Backtrack through the crowd and into the first house you entered with the Brute to reach the south side of the restricted zone.

Head east on the street and enter the first open building with a Brute inside and carefully sneak around the barrels to kill the Brute. Quickly take cover by the doorway and wait for the patrol to enter for a quick cover kill. Exit, turn left, and take cover on the barrels nearby so you can headshot the sniper on the building behind you, don't worry if he spots you, and then headshot the patrol that walks from the cage to the fence.

Head east between the two buildings and take cover by the door of the building with the patrol inside to kill him when he exits. Climb up the building, enter the attic, and exit out the window to the right to headshot the nearby sniper in the watchtower. With the snipers all gone you can backtrack through the windows and head back to the barrels by the cage before approaching the cage for a scene.

The key is in the building nearby on the second floor, so climb the building and enter through the window to kill the guard and steal the key. Now backtrack to the cage and release Victor and Hugo.

After the scene, walk with the Defenders toward the guillotine and take the stairs. You will only have a short period of time before La Touche recognizes you, so stab him quickly for a scene. When you have control, toss down a Smoke Bomb and turn left to rush out of the plaza and lose the men to complete the mission.

Server Bridge: Paris 1394

Abstergo will proceed with another sweep, so make your way to the portal and jump in to enter Paris in 1394.

Follow the path through the cemetery to enter the catacombs and turn left to slide down the ramp. Continue along the linear path through the metal grate and across the beams to a large cavern. Climb the column to your left and back eject to the stone platform and make your way around the area to a tomb, leaving the main chamber.

When you reach the slopped area and the camera shakes quickly run off to the left and take cover to avoid a boulder that comes rolling down. Rush up during the gap between boulders, taking cover again if needed, and then jump to the stone platform to climb the wooden wall to your left.

At the top the simulation will begin to crumble, along with the stone walls. Despite the desire to proceed carefully you'll find yourself needing to rush, so use the ledges for cover as you run up the slope and then right to exit. Leave the quarry and turn left to climb the bridge and cross it to reach the battlefield beyond.

As you approach the portal the Bastille will fling balls of fire your way. You'll need to use the fences, blockades, and the natural elevation of the land to make your way to toward the Bastille and enter the portal.

Sequence 12

Memory 01 - The Supreme Being

Optional Objectives:Sabotage one alarm bell
Don't let Elise get detected

To find Germain you'll need to go through Robespierre, but his reputation makes him untouchable and the festival is too crowded to get close.

Follow Elise through the crowd to the main yard where the festival is being held for a scene. When you have control again head northeast through the crowd to the tents in the east. Stand just outside the restricted area facing the watchtower and use Eagle Vision to check for guards before you run over to the ladder and climb up.

Turn north to take the rope to a tree and pass through and then hop to the pole to pass through another tree and stop on the pole on the other side. Use Eagle Vision to check the location of the guard below and air assassinate him when he's closest to you and then hop down. Take cover at the corner of the tent, next to the bell, and use Eagle Vision to spot two guards on the other side of the tent's opening. These two will notice you if you go for the alarm bell, so toss a Cherry Bomb off in the distance to distract them in order to sabotage the bell.

Backtrack around the tent's corner to hop inside via a window and head straight ahead to the desk and investigate the book for a list of names. You can now jump out the tent and exit the restricted zone to return to Elise and speak with her for a scene.

After the scene, Elise will take position to the right and you'll need to prevent incoming guards from spotting her. Turn left and jump in the haycart by the fence to wait for the guard to appear and then let him pass before popping out and killing him. Now pass Elise and take position in the crowd until the next guard appears and kill him from within the crowd to avoid detection. Return to Elise and exit the fenced area toward another cart and hop inside. Two guards will come walking toward Elise, so wait for them to pass and then jump out and double assassinate them.

Once all the guards are taken care of you can exit the area and return to Elise for the next objective.

In order to have the people turn on Robespierre you'll need to place the list of names on influential people around the area, without being spotted. The first target is located a short distance from Elise, so walk over to the individual when the patrol by the haycart turns away and place the list on him.

Check the map and make your way to the northern target and walk through the crowd until you are behind the target. There's a thug that patrols between the target and the nearby guards and another that stays stationary. Wait for the patrol to walk away before you kill the stationary guard and when his buddy comes to investigate kill him quietly before you plant the list on the target.

Cross the map to the final target, surrounded by multiple guards, and hop into the tent to sneak up on the first guard and hidden blade kill him. You can now exit the tent to plant the list or use Cherry Bombs to distract the nearby guards to be extra careful. Once all three lists are planted a scene will trigger to complete the mission.

Memory 02 - The Fall of Robespierre

Optional Objectives:Don't get into conflict
Lockpick one door

Looks like the plan backfired a bit and Robespierre has been taken into custody, making Arno's job to find him that much more difficult.

Follow Elise through the streets until you come across the dead guards and enter the area, turn left, and then right down an alley to find a survivor. After the scene you'll need to search the area for other survivors until you find Robespierre. Start by taking a left onto the street and then right down the first alley to the first guard for a quick conversation. Turn left again and run past the lift and then turn right down an alley near the underground entrance to find the second guard.

Robespierre is nearby, but in order to help with the no conflict optional objective I suggest you climb the buildings before you approach the search zone for a scene. The trick to following Robespierre in the rooftops is not to make quick direction changes, as he has a tendency to weave in and out of the alleys, and instead try and head in a general direction. Use the ropes and roofs to follow him and stay off the ground, but don't worry if the game starts to tell you to reduce your distance to Robespierre. If you do lose Robespierre a search zone will be placed nearby, which you can head to in order to continue the story.

After the scene you'll be on the roofs just outside the restricted zone, but rather than take a direct approach your best option is to head around the left side of the building and enter it through the side. Make your way left across the rooftops and then cross the rope to the south and climb up to kills a sniper on the roof.

You can now walk to the wooden beam and jump to the building to climb the left side of the tower to a landing that overlooks another sniper. The sniper is too far away to air assassinate, and there is no point in wasting your Phantom Blades, so jump to the slanted roof behind him and then quick press / to air assassinate him. Cross the landing and hang from the ledge above the next patrol and shimmy over to kill him, or wait for him to return closer to the landing, and then hop in the window and sneak up on the Brute by the locked door.

You'll need good timing and the lockpick ability to be maxed to even have a chance at unlocking this door, but it's required for the optional objective so I won't even both suggesting an alternate route.

Enter the next room and use Eagle Vision to identify the three guards in the room with the door between you and Robespierre. The two guards by the door and desk are stationary, leaving the only worry the Brute that patrols between the two desks. I suggest using your Phantom Blades to headshot the Brute and then wait for the two other guards to reset before you sneak in and kill the one at the desk, followed by the one at the door.

You can now interact with the door to complete the mission.

Memory 03 - The Temple

Optional Objectives:Three double air assassinations
Two alarm bells sabotaged

After the cutscene, drop to the ground and run to the far right corner of the restricted zone and climb up, using Eagle Vision to check the position of the two snipers that patrol here. Wait for the sniper that patrol the path nearest to you to walk in front of a gap and ledge assassinate him and then wait for the other sniper to be looking away to climb up and take position behind the barrels. Wait for the sniper to return and look outside the wall on the other side of the barrels and walk around to kill him.

With both snipers down you can hop into the haycart in the courtyard below to kill the Brute and the hop out and Phantom Blade the two patrols in the adjacent courtyard.

Take the ladder back up and head down the path with the barrels, but climb up to the roof of the building on your left as soon as possible. Cross over the roof to the other side to Phantom Blade the sniper on the other side and then cross back and position yourself above the stationary Brute. Wait for the two patrols to walk away from the Brute before you headshot him and then wait for them to investigate his body. Once the patrol is back on their route and are close enough together, air assassinate the couple and return to where you entered the fortress.

Enter stealth mode and take the other sneak past the set of guards, making sure to leave them alone, and hidden blade kill the guard in the second covered area. You now want to get the second double air assassination on the two guards you passed, so backtrack to the tower behind the and climb the wall to the roof so you can line up the kill.

Hug the wall as you continue along the outside of the fortress and use Eagle Vision to check the location of the patrol. Once the guards are walking away, move forward and climb the building on your right to await their return for your third and final double air assassination. Climb back up the building and head across to the lower roof on the L shaped building and use Eagle Vision to identify two snipers to the north. Phantom Blade the one on the outer wall and then do the same to his friend on a wooden platform directly north.

You're going to need more Phantom Blades at this point, so either use the ability to create a cache or climb back over the building and then over the outer wall to find a merchant just below where you began this mission.

With a full stock of Phantom Blades in hand you can now cross the lower roof and use Eagle Vision to spot another sniper on the building opposite you, connected by an even lower rooftop. Wait for the sniper to begin walking left and then dash across the lower roof and climb up to await his return for a ledge assassination.

Return to the low roof and look northeast to spot an alarm bell in the distance, but don't rush in because there are tons of guards between you and it and any conflict can end up being deadly if a guard should ring the bell. Use Eagle Vision to scope out the area and wait for the patrol to walk over to the haycart before you Phantom Blade him. The surrounding guards will begin to investigate the dead body, leaving them also vulnerable to headshots, and should make it easy to take them out with precision headshots. Once the area seems clear, hop down and sneak over to the bell to sabotage it.

Return to the low roof and face into the opposite courtyard to the south and use Eagle Vision to check the patrols. When the patrol that walks between the haycart and the tree to the right isn't looking hop down and sneak over to the haycart and hop in, allowing you to hiding spot kill him when he returns to the haycart. There are only a few more guards between you and the bell and none of them should be to difficult to deal with, but if you are spotted you should camp the alarm bell so that they can't ring it and use Smoke Bombs to keep from dying. Once the area is clear, walk over to the bell and sabotage it.

With the snipers and guards gone it's time to take on Germain. Head to the left tower on the nearby building and climb it up to the roof for a scene. This is a fairly easy fight, except that if you remain in Germain's line of sight he will blast you with the Sword of Eden. To make this a quick fight, run around the outside of the tower that he remains hidden in and use Eagle Vision to see which way he is facing. Once you get behind Germain, rush in and hidden blade attack him for a scene.

Return to the tower that you climbed up to reach Germain and head up to the roof to leap of faith into the haycart far below. You'll need to find Germain in the catacombs on the opposite side of the fortress, so backtrack to the other alarm bell. There are a few guards between you and the catacombs and the last thing you want to do is engage them in conflict.

Make your way toward the large barn, but instead of heading inside it and dealing with the Brute you'll want to hop on the vine covered wall to the right of it to spot a Defender. This guy is strong and conveniently located to take a Berserk Blade in the back, causing a commotion and allowing you to quickly rush into the catacombs and lose any enemies you might have drawn in the process.

Make your way through the catacombs, which are very linear, and examine the door for another cutscene with Germain.

This battle is much like the previous, except with a more open area. Take cover on the solid structures and use Cherry Bombs to distract Germain and make him turn his back so you can rush in and stab him. After each stab you will be knocked to the ground and will have to run for cover ASAP when you have control or Germain will blast you to death with the Sword of Eden. Additionally, if you stay hidden too long he will use Eagle Vision to spot you and create a lightning strike on your position, so move away if needed.

After three stabs in this manner a scene will occur and then you'll need to run toward Germain for the final scene.

As mentioned previously, the chest in Intendant's Study is where you can collect the income the Cafe gains. Cafe Missions are accessed by renovating the Cafe Theatre and each mission increases the income provided by each deposit to the bank, which occurs every 20 minutes.

Auto-Da-Fe

Unlocks: Sequence 03

The Hebertistes are burning rare books and manuscripts that need protection, so fast travel to the other side of the Palais De Justice and speak to the contact. The three manuscripts are surrounded by enemies, so you'll need to blend with the crowd to avoid detection.

Approach the plaza and carefully use the crowd and barrels as cover to kill the guard when he isn't looking and grab the first manuscript. Blend with the crowd again and cross to the other guard and quietly kill him to move to the other end of the plaza. Enter the far side and hop in the haycart to kill a patrol and then exit and kill the other two guards that have their backs turned to get the other two manuscripts. You can now leave the area to complete the mission.

Colette

Unlocks: Complete Auto-Da-Fe and renovate the Ground Floor

An informant working for the Cafe Theatre is posing as a maid and may need extraction, but before pulling her out you'll need to confirm that she is in danger by stalking the innkeepers for information.

Make your way to the search zone and use Eagle Vision to spot the two innkeeper before heading to the designated hiding spot. It appears that the innkeepers have caught onto Colette, so run down the man and assassinate him before he can return to the inn and do something about the girl. Now make your way to the south side of the building, where Colette is being held, and enter through the balcony to silently take out the men and speak to her. You can now leave the area to complete the mission.

Damsel in Seamstress

Unlocks: Complete Colette and renovate the Hall

The queen's dress maker agreed to make dresses for the Cafe Theatre, but radicals have ransacked her shop and Rose has gone missing.

Make your way to the search area in the Marais district and climb the buildings to enter the search zone from the east. Rose is on the southeast side of the area, with two guards near her, so if you approach from above you can air assassinate the two and speak to Rose. Rose explains that she came to recover her work that the men stole when they ransacked her place and Arno offers to recover them.

Climb the roof to the northeast and approach the restricted zone from the south to kill a Watcher. From here you should be able to shoot the nearby guards with Phantom Blades and then air assassinate the final guard to reach the ground and get the first outfit. Head south to the next restricted zone, entering from the northern rooftops, to leap of faith into the haycart below. From the cart you should be able to kill the first guard that walks by and then use the wall and crowd to reach the second guard and silently kill him to get the second outfit. Make your way west and approach the restricted zone from the northeast to kill the Watcher on the balcony below. Head north and cross to the west side of the buildings and circle around to the south of the courtyard. From here you should be able to air assassinate the guard below and Phantom Blade the guard to the north to get the final outfit and complete the mission once you leave the area.

The Queen's Necklace

Unlocks: Complete Damsel in Seamstress and renovate the Exterior

Thanks to Colette, you know that Renard has gained the queen's necklace in a raid on the royal treasury and wishes to sell it to finance an attack. To prevent this, Arno needs to meet up with Renard to purchase the necklace using counterfeit money. Make your way to the contact in Saint-Jacques to learn that Renard caught wind of the scam and made off with the diamond necklace.

Run west to the search area and use Eagle Vision to spot the necklace. The necklace is heavily guarded by a large number of guards, so wait for them to begin walking before you kill the Brute and follow the group. When the group stops and you have a good shot, hit the Defender with a Berserk Blade. This will result in the Defender taking out the majority of guards and you merely needing to perform clean up to steal the necklace.

The smuggler is located in a heavily guarded zone nearby, but if you approach from the north you can drop down and talk to the smuggler when he runs into the north end of the courtyard. You can then leave the area to complete the mission.

Foxy Renard

Unlocks: Complete The Queen's Necklace and renovate the Upper Floors

It's time to put an end to Renard, so head to the Invalides district to speak with the contact. Circle around the outside of the search area and climb the buildings in the northwest to a wooden perch, where you can stand and use Eagle Vision to spot the priest. Once identified, the priest will begin to walk out of the search zone with some bodyguards, so run south along the buildings and hop into the haycart at the end. wait for the priest to walk by for a hiding spot kill and then escape the bodyguards. Now return to your contact and then climb up to the observation point to wait for Renard.

Looks like Renard knew what was going on and sent a henchman to take the necklace and kill the spy, but it's not over yet. After the short scene, turn around and drop off the opposite of the building to the ground to run after and tackle the henchman. This will reveal the location of Renard's hideout nearby.

The house where Renard is hiding is heavily guarded, but if you approach carefully the mission shouldn't be too hard. Start by heading to the roofs from the south and wait for the Defender on the top floor to be walk away and Phantom Blade the Watcher on the balcony. You can now jump over to the window where the Defender was and enter, allowing you to sneak up on the Defender who should be going about his rounds and not be looking your way.

Renard is on the next floor, but he is surrounded by a large number of guards. The best strategy is to use Cherry Bombs to lure your enemies near the ladder and then toss down some Poison Gas bombs or Berserk Blade some targets. This should dwindle the numbers enough to make it easy to take out Renard. Alternatively, if you are careful and check the position of all the guards, it is possible to hop down and kill the guard closest to you and then Renard. Either way, defeat Renard and escape the area to complete the mission.

Social Clubs

The Social Clubs unlock at the beginning of Sequence 03, after the introductory cutscene at the Cafe Theatre. Social Clubs are present in all the main disricts of Paris and begin closed. In order to open each club you'll need to approach the closed building and renovate it. Why do this? Well, each renovated Social Club will increase your Cafe Theatre income, supply the Social Club Missions, function as another Fast Travel point, and give you a revolution song.

The following covers the Social Club renovation rewards.

Social Club Missions

As mentioned previously, the chest in Intendant's Study is where you can collect the income the Cafe gains. Social Clubs are buildings in Paris that Arno can renovate to increase the income provided by each deposit to the bank, which occurs every 20 minutes. In addition, once renovated the Social Clubs will offer missions that you can complete in the sub-districts of that Social Club.

Note: Many of these missions will be easier if you have purchased the Disguise skill.

Bridge Brigands

Unlocks: Renovate the Ile de la Cite Cafe

Some bandits are requiring tolls to cross the bridges into Ile de la Cite and need to be put in their place.

The southeast Captain is in a house in a small restricted zone and if you have Disguise it is easy enough to get to the Captain. If you don't have the ability then climbing the western buildings, dropping off the east side and entering a small alley next to the building with the Captain is the best approach. From the alley you can hide on the fence and then use the crowd to blend in before hopping into the window to kill the Captain.

The southwest Captain takes a long patrol rather close to the end of the restricted zone, but wait until he turns away to double assassinate the two guards before using the crowd to sneak up on him and kill him. The northwest Captain is the easiest to kill by simply approaching from the south and sniping him with a headshot. You can then take out the bodyguards or drop off the bridge to escape. The northeast Captain walks a short route on the northern end of the bridge. If you approach from the south and hug the right wall you should be able to climb the building and jump into the haycart on the other side. Wait for the Captain to pass, walking north, and hop out and follow him for a clean kill.

Marat's Missive

Unlocks: Renovate the Ile de la Cite Cafe

A gang is robbing graves in the Ile de la Cite graveyard and a letter protects them from arrest. Make your way to the restricted zone and climb the buildings in the northeast, but don't use Eagle Vision or he will run. Once in the right spot, wait for the Brute to walk away and then air assassinate the other single man and steal the letter. You can then use the lift to quickly escape the guards and complete the mission.

Let Them Eat Hay

Unlocks: Renovate the Venture de Paris Cafe

Foullon is hoarding food in the Les Halles warehouses and you're needed to clear out his men and open the food for everyone.

The large restricted zone has six guards you'll need to kill, many of whom can be shot from the roofs or approached by entering a upper floor window. In a few cases you can actually stand outside the restricted zone and take cover by the building door for a cover kill. If you are noticed you can easily climb the buildings and wait for the enemies to lose interest before you continue.

Cat Food on a Hot Tin Roof

Unlocks: Renovate the Venture de Paris Cafe

Foullon is once again hoarding food, but this time it is via the rooftops around the Hotel de Ville.

Make your way to the search zones from the south and enter the balcony on the second floor to find the first Lieutenant and kill him. Hop out the eastern windows and climb up to the roofs of the opposite buildings, killing a Brute, and then make your way north to kill the second Lieutenant. Continue north a bit and then turn left to jump to the rope to cross to the other side. If you look right you'll see two enemies on the roof, so jump across to the opposite set of buildings and climb up to double assassinate them. Enter the next building via the rooftop ladder when the guards inside are looking away to quickly dispatch them, killing the third Lieutenant, and then head back outside and approach the final Lieutenant on the rooftop to complete the mission.

Hoarding Hostages

Unlocks: Renovate the Venture de Paris Cafe

In order to hoard the food a group of men are holding some of the local farmers hostage by the Cour des Miracles.

Make your way to the restricted zone and climb the southwest building to enter the window on the second floor and Phantom Blade the two guards pointing their swords at the first farmer. Speak with the farmer before hoping back out to the street and running easy to the next farmer. Despite the farmer standing right by the balcony, enter the building on the top floor and snipe his guard from the stairwell to free him.

The next farmer you'll want to free is the farthest one to the north, so make your way north through a building with a guard and stop on the rope above his position. From here you should be able to Phantom Blade the first guard and then air assassinate the second one to free the third farmer and talk to him. From here you can walk south and climb up to the window on the second floor to enter, when the guard isn't looking, for a clean kill to release the final farmer. Once you speak to the final farmer, escape the area to complete the mission.

Cafe Procope

Unlocks: Renovate the Le Quartier Latin Cafe

Your mission is to kill three conspirators of Robespierre outside the Cafe Procope, but when you begin the mission two will be outside the Cafe Procope restricted zone. I suggest you approach the two targets to the east and west first, beginning their walk to the Cafe, and then make your way to the Cafe. From the street, outside the restricted zone, hit one of the Defender enemies with a Berserk Blade to draw all three targets outside and then hit one with a Berserk Blade. Wait out the fight and the kill off any remaining enemies after the fight to complete the mission.

Roux's Remains

Unlocks: Renovate the Le Quartier Latin Cafe

Jacques Roux's lieutenants are trying to incite a riot in a crowd of citizens in the courtyard of the Hotel de Cluny.

The location in question is heavily guarded by Watchers, making a rooftop entrance pretty annoying. The best approach is to head to the east side of the restricted zone and wait for a clear dash to the sewer entrance to exit in the opposite courtyard where the target is. You can then blend with the crowds and shoot the target with a Phantom Blade before dropping some Smoke Bombs and escaping through the west exit.

An Engaging Egyptologist

Unlocks: Renovate the Le Quartier Latin Cafe

The Brotherhood wants you to steal three rubbings of the Rosetta Stone, which may contain sensitive information about the Assassins, from some Templars.

Make your way to the waymarker and speak to Champollion just outside the gardens. Despite the guy saying he will help you, he doesn't actually help you deal with the guards and wanders off on his own. Ignore Champollion and climb the building to the south and deal with the two Watchers before stopping on the western roof, looking down at the courtyard, to spot the target. Wait for the target to be at the western most end of his patrol before you kill him and then drop to the ground and loot his body.

Hug the fence and carefully make your way south, ignoring the two guards at the west gate, until you reach two large kegs and kill the Brute nearby. You can then climb the wall and air assassinate your target and loot his body. Backtrack to the guards by the west gate and this time turn right and head straight to the final restricted zone. Take cover on the north side of the zone and use Phantom Blades to take out all the guards and the target to loot his body for the final rubbing. You can now exit the area to the east to complete the mission.

Artful Dodger

Unlocks: Renovate the Le Marais Cafe

The Council wants you to assassinate the leader of a art smuggling ring to stop them from stealing art for the national museum.

For a quick and easy kill head to the tunnel in the southwest of the restricted zone and stop half way into it. You should see a large statue straight ahead, which the target will stop next to if you wait. Once the target is in sight, hit him with a Phantom Blade headshot and walk out of the tunnel to complete the mission.

A Dramatic Exit

Unlocks: Renovate the Le Marais Cafe

Duc de Barrois uses his influence to have his rivals assassinated and take possession of their property, but the Council wants you to kill him during the theatrical performance being held at the Hotel de Sully.

Make your way to the southwest of the restricted zone to find a small alley that can be used to enter the mansion. Wait for Barrois to enter the lobby and head upstairs before you enter and hide under the staircase to await his return downstairs, where you can sneak up behind him and assassinate him quietly. Now exit out the alley to complete the mission.

Breaking the Habit

Unlocks: Renovate the Le Marais Cafe

A group of thugs are terrorizing the nuns of Filles du Calvaire, so to solve the issue you need to identify the leader and assassinate him.

Make your way to the restricted zone and enter the outer wall and turn left to a second archway. Make sure the Seeker is walking away before you enter and take cover on the inner archway to align a headshot on the leader. Once killed, make your way out the same way you came in to complete the mission.

Extortion Contortion

Unlocks: Renovate the La Bievre Cafe

Criminals are extorting the merchants of the La Bievre district, but in order to stop them you'll need to track down their leader.

Make your way to the search zones, speaking to each extorted merchant, and then follow the woman to to a restricted zone. Instead of trying to enter where the woman leaves you, backtrack to the south end of the restricted zone to a small alley guarded by a Watcher. Take cover on a wall to snipe the Watcher with a Phantom Blade headshot, causing your target to investigate his body, and then headshot the target as well. You can now easily leave the restricted zone to complete the mission.

Chouan Riddles

Unlocks: Renovate the La Bievre Cafe

A suspected Chouans spy is operating out of a house nearby and you need to track him down.

Warp to the south end of the Saint-Marcel district and head to the small restricted zone. There are only two ways into the house in question: a door on the street that is heavily guarded and a window on the upper floor. The window is the best option, so circle to the south side of the building and climb up to enter the window. Quickly read the letter on the nearby desk and then slip into the hiding spot, as enemies will be walking upstairs. Now wait for the guards to return downstairs before you continue.

In order to get the next clue, you'll need to kill the enemies downstairs. To do this, I suggest you use the stairs as a way to break line of sight and lure the enemies upstairs and deal with them when they turn back to walk downstairs. Once clear, head downstairs to investigate the clock in the fireplace and then return upstairs to open the chest. You can now escape the area to complete the mission.

Bara's Funeral

Unlocks: Renovate the La Bievre Cafe

You're needed to defend the funeral procession of Joseph Bara from the street to the base of the Pantheon. Warp to the Saint-Jacques district and head to the waymarker to speak with the men leading the procession.

As the carriage makes it's way up the street you'll need to protect it from snipers on the balconies and enemies on the ground. You'll want to focus on the snipers first, as they can fire on you while you on combat on the ground, and then deal with the standard enemies. As you reach the top of the hill, looking onto the Pantheon, climb the building on the right to be in the best position to head with the huge final wave.

Note: If this mission glitches for you so that when you reach the top and nothing triggers, return to the bottom and run back up to the top again.

Retribution for a Rabble-Rouser

Unlocks: Renovate the Le Louvre Cafe

The Council wants you to get retribution for the execution of the Girondists by killing Andres Guzman.

Make your way to the Tuileries gardens, where a heavy coverage of guards means you'll want to use stealth as much as possible. If you have the Disguise ability, this mission is infinitely easier as you can simply stroll up to Guzman's location and blend with the crowd. Wait for the thugs and the guards to get in a scuffle and make your move on Guzman. If you don't have the Disguise ability, you can use Berserk Blades to start the scuffle and then rush in and kill Guzman before you rush out. Once you leave the area and are anonymous you'll complete the mission.

The Black Office

Unlocks: Renovate the Le Louvre Cafe

A secretive group, known as the "Black Office", is operating some shady business out of the Post Office near the Place Vendome.

Make your way to the search zones around the post office to find the three spies:

In the exterior courtyard is the first spy, a woman that walks around the courtyard in a circle. Due to the number of guards, it is best to position Arno on the north end of the courtyard, blending in with the crowds, and wait for the woman to circle your way. When no guards are looking, hit her with a Phantom Blade to kill her and then wait for the ruckus to die down.

The second spy is the man in the building, who patrols between the main floor filled with guards and the top of the staircase. Due to the number of guards downstairs, your only hope to avoid combat is to follow the man as he walks up the staircase and hidden blade kill him when he reaches the top. This should allow you to avoid any conflict.

The final spy is on the upper floors of the building, which are restricted. Make your way down the hall, killing the single guard, and then head up the stairs to the next floor. Use Eagle Vision to see the guard patrolling the hall on the other side of the wall and wait until he is walking away from the guard by the open doorway before you stab the stationary man. Enter the room and take cover by the next doorway to await the patrol's return for a cover kill and then deal with the target.

Once all three spies are dealt with, leave the search area to complete the mission.

Betrayer of the Queen

Unlocks: Renovate the Le Louvre Cafe

Jean Gilbert, a Templar, foiled the Assassin's plan to free Queen Marie-Antoinette before her execution. Gilbert knows too much about the Assassin's machinations and must be assassinated to preserver the Council's secrets.

Make your way to the northwest side of the search zone to find Gilbert surrounded by enemies. Instead of using your Phantom Blades, stick close to your target and wait for him to walk away from the enemies to get a clean Hidden Blade kill. If caught, escape the area and lose the enemies to complete the mission.

Spiked Bourbon

Unlocks: Renovate the Les Invalides Cafe

The Templar order known as the Council of Five Hundred has become too influential and the Assassins want some of the major players assassinated to curtail their influence.

After starting the mission, teleport straight to the search zones in the north at the Palais Bourbon. There are four Templars surrounding the palace, each with a set pattern that they walk. The first thing you'll want to do it take out the snipers on the roof, as they pose a threat if left unchecked, and then work your way south to north.

The southernmost Templar walks in a figure eight style pattern around the gardens outside of the restricted zone. The lack of restriction means you can freely search the area until you find the target and then blend with the crowds for a Hidden Blade kill when there is no guards around. Climb up the palace walls again and search the central plaza for the second Templar. Once spotted, follow him until he reaches one side of the plaza, so that he is available to air assassinate, and then use Cherry Bombs to distract the guards to either end of the plaza. Once the guards are distracted you should be able to air assassinate the target and climb back up a wall without ever being spotted.

Cross the rooftops to the west side of the palace to find the third Templar in a small fenced garden below. If you are smart about when you air assassinate him, you'll be able to run to the nearby lift to return to the rooftops to escape the guards. The final Templar is to the north end of the palace, outside the restricted zone, and circles the area around the cannons. Like the target in the south garden area, the crowds can be used to sneak up behind the target and Hidden Blade kill him when there are no guards in the area. Once all targets are eliminated, escape the area to complete the mission.

Special Delivery

Unlocks: Renovate the Les Invalides Cafe

A series of brutal robberies in the Les Invalides district has lead to the assumption that the leader was someone in official position. The Council wants you to investigate, find the leader, and assassinate him.

Make your way to the heavily guarded search area and identify your target with Eagle Vision, but instead of trying to enter the area you'll want to wait in the alley to the south of the search zone. The officer will exit the search zone and walk down the dirt path toward his final destination, so follow the officer down the path, but don't try and steal from him. Eventually, the officer will turn left down a tight alley between a stone wall and a wooden fence that is free of guards. When clear, pickpocket the officer to retrieve the package and update the quest.

Make your way to the next waypoint to drop off the package at the entry guards to learn that the leader is a man by the name of Colonel L'Au. If you head east along the restriction zone and look into the first courtyard, L'Au will be easy to spot using Eagle Vision. L'Au walks a long path between the courtyards, but if you spot him quickly and pull out your Phantom Blades for a headshot you can end the mission quickly. If you miss your chance to kill L'Au you'll need to wait for him to return or restart from the last checkpoint. Once he is dead, lose any pursuers to complete the mission.

Smoky Yet Robust

Unlocks: Renovate the Les Invalides Cafe

Royalist Chouans are attacking vineyards to intimidate the locals to support their movements, so head to the vineyards and kill the attacking royalists.

The vineyard is questions has 13 targets in a small zone, making it one of the most difficult encounters in the game. You'll want to make sure that you have all of your consumables full and possibly the Assassin Cache ability. The easiest way to deal with this is to take position on the roof of building next to the shop and use Berserk Blades on nearby guards to cluster the enemies and then Poison Gas them. You can then Phantom Blade some of the remaining enemies to dwindle them down and purchase more consumables as needed. Once all targets are dead the mission will be complete.

Paris Stories

Paris Stories are story-based quests throughout Paris that offer monetary rewards based on the difficulty of the mission. While these unlock at Sequence 02, Memory 01 they are best left until later when Arno has use of the Phantom Blades and Berserk Blades or post game for ease of completion. The following are ordered based on the Progress Tracker.

Tall, Dark Strangers

Unlocks: Sequence 02, Memory 01

Talk to Mademoiselle Lenormand in her house to begin this quest and then follow through the streets of Paris. Each time Lenormand pauses she will identify a target for you to kill, which you can identify with Eagle Vision.

  • The first target is a farmer that can be targeted with a Phantom Blade.
  • The second target is a soldier in a crowded plaza, where he usually gets in a fight and dies.
  • The third target is inside a house on the left that you can easily enter and stab from behind.
  • The final target is in a small courtyard behind the buildings.

Return to Lenormand to complete the missions.

Flamel's Secret: The Monks

Unlocks: Complete Tall, Dark Strangers

Talk to Mademoiselle Lenormand to learn that monks are after Nicholas Flamel's Elixir of Life and have found one part of the key.

Make your way to Notre Dame and enter the nave to blend in with the crowd and use Eagle Vision to identify the monks to the left. Despite the game marking multiple monks in gold with "Steal" above their heads, the monk you must steal from is the on that walks through the area, so wait for him to walk into the crowd and stop to talk to the monk by the altar and then walk up and steal the key. You can now return to Lenormand to complete the mission.

Flamel's Secret: Denis Molinier

Unlocks: Complete Flamel's Secret: The Monks

Talk to Mademoiselle Lenormand, who suspects that Denis Molinier has the other piece of the key to Nicholas Flamel's laboratory.

Molinier's townhouse is pretty far away, so open up the map and fast travel to the Ile Saint-Louis' viewpoints. Head directly south to the U-shaped building via the rooftops and look down into the courtyard to spot Molinier walking from one courtyard into the building and then back out. Hop over the ledge and climb down the pediment on the left side of the facade and find an open window and enter.

The guard inside will walk over to the fireplace as you enter, so walk up behind him and kill him to clear the area. Head upstairs and check the safe in the corner of the bedroom to mark Molinier. Exit out the window you came through and climb back up to the roof.

To get the key from Molinier you'll want to leap of faith into the haycart and wait for Molinier to pass to quietly kill him. With the safe key in hand, head back upstairs to get the other half of Flamel's key and then return to Lenormand.

Flamel's Secret: The Elixir of Life

Unlocks: Complete Flamel's Secret: Denis Molinier

Talk to Mademoiselle Lenormand to begin the final mission in her chain.

Open the map and mark the underground entrance in the far southeast of the Notre Dame search zone. Make your way to the well and climb down and follow the tunnel a short way to find three monks, who you can kill with Phantom Blades or a Berserk Blade. In the next part of the tunnel two stationary guards block the entrance to Flamel's laboratory, but two quick Phantom Blades will deal with them. Enter Flamel's lab, grab the Elixir, and return to Lenormand.

Using the Ol'Noggins

Unlocks: Sequence 02, Memory 01

Talk to Mme Tussaud, who needs you to find severed heads to make masks of famous victims of the guillotine.

Start by talking to the assistant nearby and the two upstairs to learn the locations of the three heads and then make your way to the palace. The best entrance into the busy courtyard is to climb the right side of the building to reach the landing and then leap of faith into the haycart below. There are three bags, but only the one on the main platform has the head you are looking for. Make your way through the crowd to the left of the platform and then circle around the back either with the Disguise ability or with Smoke Bombs to collect the head.

If you exit the palace to the west by climbing to the roof you should be able to jump down into the next search zone. Wait for the guard to come over to the haycart to kill him quietly and then use Eagle Vision to spot your next target, who you should have no problem sneaking up on and killing to steal the key he carries. A few steps south you should find another man, this one carrying letter.

The second head is inside the Conciergerie building to the north, so make your way there and climb up to a window to enter the floor above the heads. As you walk down the stairs the guard should be facing away, leaning over a book, so kill him and collect the final two heads. You can now return to Mme Tussaud to complete the mission.

Waxworks

Unlocks: Complete Using the Ol'Noggins

Talk to Mme Tussaund to learn that a man named Jean Lessard is pissed that she escaped the guillotine and wishes her dead. Afraid for her life, Mme won't return to her shop and needs Arno to take the man out.

Head north to Mme's shop and ignore the men downstairs, head straight upstairs to examine the letter to learn where Lessard is located. Make your way to the search area to the southwest and blend with the crowd to spot Lessard with Eagle Vision. He should walk into an adjacent courtyard, where you can follow via the crowds to kill him quietly. Once dead you can leave the area to complete the mission.

Sewer Rat

Unlocks: Sequence 02, Memory 01

Talk to the assassin on the rooftop to learn that a convict has escaped prison and needs to be taken care of before he makes his way to the Templars and reveals secrets of the Assassin Brotherhood.

Instead of entering the obvious sewer entrance directly in front of you, open the map and mark the sewer entrance to the west of the restricted zone. By entering the sewer from the opposite end you will be closer to Rotondo and can avoid most of the combat. Enter the sewers and slide under the bars to reach the first chamber and drop down. Head north a few steps and use Eagle vision to find Rotondo walking nearby, so use line of sight to draw him away from the guards and kill him. You can now leave the area to complete the mission.

A La Lanterne!

Unlocks: Sequence 02, Memory 01

The goal of this mission is to escort the grieving noblewoman through the streets to her final destination. Simply follow the woman and take out any Extremists you come across that attack her. Luckily, the Duchess is nice enough to engage in combat with you, allowing you to sneak up behind them for some quick kills. When she reaches her destination you will complete the mission.

The Great Escape

Unlocks: Sequence 02, Memory 01

The escapee of the Bastille wants you to go in and steal back his means of escape, a famous rope ladder.

Make your way to the waymarker on the east side of the Bastille and wait for him to head south to climb the stairs and take cover in the curtained hiding spot. When the man returns he will walk right past you, allowing you to kill him and retrieve the prison manifest.

The easiest way to reach the rope ladder is by circling around to the west side of the Bastille and climbing up to the window. Be careful before entering the window and then turn left to slide through the small gap beneath the fence covered with a white sheet. You need only assassinate the Brute to retrieve the rope ladder and then return it to the escapee.

Critical Comedown

Unlocks: Sequence 02, Memory 01

Talk to Beaumarchais, who wants you to take care of the Public Censors that are suppressing new theatrical plays.

Make your way to the search zone to find the critic, who is all alone with no bodyguards. Wait for the critic to exit the search area so he is away from any guards and then choose to either steal the review or kill him and then steal the review. With the review in hand, head to the south side of the new search zone and use Eagle Vision to find the Chief Censor. The easiest way to reach the Chief Censor is to access the second floor window to the right of his location and then take the stairs down to kill him. You can now exit the area to complete the mission.

Scene Stealer

Unlocks: Complete Critical Comedown

The man wants you to steal letters from a Mademoiselle who oversees many "actresses" containing secrets that could help the revolution.

Make your way to the nearby marked zone to find a house full of enemies with no way to bypass them. Enter the house and use the crowds to pass through the first floor to the staircase. On the second floor, make sure that the Brute is turned the other way before you enter and take him out when his back is turned. Head to the end of the hall and enter the room to kill the Defender from behind. Wait for the nearby guard to walk to the window and kill him to reach the next floor.

On the next floor, walk up to the sleeping guard and kill him before you lockpick the nearby door and kill the guard inside. Take cover by the doorway and when the corpse draws the nearby Defender you can get an easy cover kill. You can now backtrack and double assassinate the two guards looking away to steal the diary. 3) In the southwest location is a large seach zone where you'll find another man walking in the market. Blend with the crowd to get behind him and then steal the third item.

The first duelist is a simple soldier that should pose no threat, while the second duelist is a Brute who can pose a big threat with his heavy attacks that you'll need to dodge. The third duelist is a Defender that requires you to perform a perfect parry in order to attack him or Staggering Strike him. If you can get him on the ground with Staggering Strike, and have Ground Execution, you'll be able to get an instant kill.

The fourth enemy type is a Seeker, which you might not have encountered yet, and is joined by another Seeker after only a short period of time. Seekers are the most dangerous type of enemy because they can use combos of standard and heavy attacks, so you'll need to perform perfect parries to have a chance at damaging them.

The final duelist is the quest giver himself and although he acts like a soldier, one hit from him will result in failing the duel. Don't go in for the attack and focus on getting a perfect parry, followed by Staggering Strike, to ground him and kill him.

Flying Boy

Unlocks: Sequence 02, Memory 01

Laplace is located in a house nearby with only a few guards between you and his freedom. Climb the roof to get a view of the balcony and Phantom Blade the guard that patrols it before you hop over and take cover to kill the man inside. Another patrol walks from the floor below, so make sure you take him out and then talk to Laplace. Laplace explains that he was put under arrest for trying to stop an experiment that will kill a man if allowed to proceed.

Carmalite Nuns

Unlocks: Sequence 02, Memory 01

The best course of action is to take to the roofs as you follow the nuns, to easily take out the snipers with an air assassination, and then air assassinate the ground units. Between each wave you can climb back up to the rooftops to prepare for the next wave. When the nuns reach the church the mission will automatically complete.

Stop the Presses!

Unlocks: Sequence 02, Memory 01

Your task is to take down the posters that slander the late Grand Master, Comte de Mirabeau.

There are three posters on the outskirts of the restricted zone, two on the north side and one in the southwest, but it won't be so easy due to a bunch of enemies guarding them. I suggest you use the high to your advantage and take out as many enemies around a poster with Phantom Blades, especially the Snipers, before you drop down and deal with any stragglers. If you find yourself in a fight you can use Smoke Bombs to increase your chance of success and limit the damage done to you.

Once all posters are removed the search area will change to the alley on the east side of the previous search area. There are a few enemies in the alley to deal with, provided you didn't already engage the enemies in this area, but you should have no problem killing the enemies and sabotaging the printing press to complete the mission.

Encyclopedie Diderot

You will then need to fend off the extremists to loot the body and complete the mission.

Unlocks: Sequence 02, Memory 01

Leave the mansion and meet up with Bernadotte, who will lead the way to Desiree's house. Unfortunately, the enemies don't wish you to reach Desiree's house and will engage you in combat multiple times. Stay a few steps behind Bernadotte and when they engage him in battle you should be able to walk around them for instant kills. Once you reach Desiree's house you will find enemies on each floor of the building, that you should be able to quietly take out, and then talk to Desiree on the top floor.

When they finally meet you'll need to defend them from some thugs to complete the mission.

French Crown Jewels

Unlocks: Sequence 02, Memory 01

Even though the crown jewels have been recovered, the 3 of the largest diamonds are missing. The quest giver suggests that the thieves might have tried to sell the gems to a local jeweler. Make your way to the waymarker and talk to the jeweler to learn that a man was indeed trying to sell him a diamond, but that he refused and the man has been lurking in the alley ever since. Exit out the back to find the first thief and tackle him or assassinate him to recover the first diamond.

To find the other two diamonds, make your way to the next waymarker and approach form the rooftops. Spot the targets and wait for them to split up before you air assassinate one and then climb up and do the same to the other.

Coat of Arms

Unlocks: Sequence 02, Memory 01

A man complains that the coat he commissioned for Antoine Saint-Just, so make your way to the tailor's workshop and speak to him. It turns out that the tailor finds something about the tanner's goods and won't make any coats until he is investigated.

Make your way to the search zone and approach from the north, so that you can see a balcony on the middle level facing the river with two Watchers outside. The balcony is your target, but to reach it you will need to move forward and shoot both Watchers with headshots. This will likely make the other guards aggressive, so back off until your no longer under attack. Once clear you can walk to the rope over the river that is linked to the balcony and cross to enter the building.

There are two guards on this floor and one that patrols from the floor above down the stairs and toward the window you entered. Take cover by the barrels to wait for the third guard to walk toward you for a cover kill and then Phantom Blade the other two. You can now head upstairs and kill the guard to speak to the tanner.

It turns out that the tanner was forced by Saint Just to tan human skin instead of cow skin to create his coat, so it's time to return to Just's valet. Before speaking to the valet it is wise to kill the two guards around him, in any manner you see fit, because once you talk to the valet he will attack you and the guards will join him. The valet is a Seeker, meaning you are going to need perfect parries or a Smoke Bomb to help with the fight.

Once defeated you can head back to the tailor to complete the mission.

Swiss Stash

Unlocks: Sequence 02, Memory 01

Jacques Necker was once a wealthy man, but now he is so broke he can't get across the border. That being said, it seems that the Brotherhood believes the man is hiding some money away and your task is to steal a letter that may lead you to the cash. Approach the search zone nearby and hide behind the back of the haycart to Phantom Blade the men in the center of the area. Once clear, walk up to Necker and pickpocket him to find the location of his stashes.

The first stash to the east is on the top floor, guarded by plenty of enemies and Watchers. Start by taking out the Watchers outside with some Phantom Blades and then kill the Brute to enter the ground floor. As you take the stairs make sure that none of the guards above are walking toward the stairs before you head up and then use the hiding spot to kill the guard. Head up another set of stairs to kill the next two guards and then open the chest.

The second stash to the north on the top floor, but you'll need to enter from the rooftop window and then take out the two enemies inside before opening the chest.

The final two stashes are actually in the same building to the west, with many enemies and only one way in. It's best to stick a Berserk Blade in a Brute or Seeker and finish off the remaining enemies inside with Phantom Blades of Poison Gas. Once the enemies are dead you will be left with the single Watcher on the ledge with the two chests.

Vicious Verses

Unlocks: Sequence 02, Memory 01

Andre Chenier wishes you to recover his documents from his home nearby, but it won't be easy since they are in a large restricted zone.

Make your way to the west side of the restricted area and climb up to the rooftop to take out the Watcher. Another Watcher in on a balcony nearby, but before you air assassinate him make sure to use Eagle Vision to check that the guards inside are not looking. Take cover by the doorway and shot the Brute and Seeker inside, or draw them over for cover kills, and grab the first verse.

Head down the stairs and you'll find more guards that you can quietly take out with Phantom Blades before getting the second verse and then repeat the process on the Brute on the ground floor, leaving the Defender alone as to not draw over guards from the courtyard, to get the final verse. You con now return to Andre to complete the mission.

Arm the People

Unlocks: Sequence 02, Memory 01

Teroigne de Mericourt is fighting a losing battle because of the gunsmith supplying the enemy with weapons. To get the militia on the winning side, Mericourt wishes Arno to kill the gunsmith and collect the blueprints so that she can arm them with proper weapons.

Make your way to the waymarker to find a house heavily guarded, but with the fatal flaw of a second floor open window on the north side of the building. Climb the building next to the window and hop over to the wooden platform outside the window when no one is looking. This allows you to wait for the target to stand by the window for a cover kill and let you easily steal the weapon docket.

When you reach the location of the blueprints you'll run into more opposition, but if you take the high ground and eliminate all the Watchers you can Phantom Blade or Berserk Blade the guards in the courtyard below to eliminate them rather easily. This will allow you to clean out the area and kill any survivors to collect the four blueprints.

You can now return to Mericourt to complete the mission.

"Escort" Mission

Unlocks: Complete Arm the People

Once again Teroigne de Mericourt has an idea to help the people of Paris win the revolution by asking the prostitutes to join her Women's Brigade.

The first "sex worker" you'll come across is caged in a restricted zone by a bunch of men in the middle of the street. The Watchers around the area pose the worst problem, so skirt around the area and take them out with Phantom Blades so you can get closer to the action. The best strategy from here is to distract the guards by popping a Berserk Blade into a Defender and letting him take out a majority of the guards. Once clear, hop down and open the cage to talk to the women inside.

The next set of women are all rather close together in one large building surrounded by enemies. Once again you will need to take out the Watchers before you enter the area and you can then jump through the attic window to kill a Brute and talk to the first woman. The other three woman will need to be accessed from the ground level, which is covered in guards. As before, targeting a Defender with a Berserk Blade will take out a good amount of the guards and then you can pick off any of the remainders. Once cleared, enter building and talk to the final three ladies.

The final set of workers are in the middle of a crowded area with only a few guards. All can be approached by blending in with the crowds of the plaza, so sneak in and talk to each to complete the mission.

Cassini's Constellations

Unlocks: Sequence 02, Memory 01

The Comte de Cassini, previous Director of the Paris Observatory, is being run out of town and has accidentally left some research at the observatory. Unfortunately, the observatory is covered in thugs that wish to prevent you from gathering all the data.

Approach the restricted zone from the northeast to climb the trees and make your way to the gazebo. Turn left through the trees toward the scaffolding to take a lift up and shimmy around to ledge assassinate the Watcher. You can now sneak up behind the Brute and kill him to get the first document from the nearby table. Take the lift up to the roof and take cover as soon as possible to avoid being discovered and use cover kills, Berserk Blades on Seekers, and Phantom Blades to take out the rooftop enemies. You will likely need to become discovered to clean up any stragglers before you can pick up the next document.

Drop off the side of the building and take out another Watcher with a Phantom Blade and then Berserk or Phantom Blade the other thugs when they come within range to check the body. Once clear you can drop down and get the final document before you leave the area and return to Cassini.

The Condorcet Method

Unlocks: Sequence 02, Memory 01

Nicholas de Condorcet has a warrant for his arrest, which has lead to his research on the History of Political Progress ending up in the hands of his academic rival. The closest waymarker is a small courtyard with multiple enemies, an alarm bell, and the man carrying the document. Climb up to the rooftop and walk to the south side of the area and hit one of the Seekers at the gate with a Berserk Blade to distract the guards. You can now run back to the north side and climb down to steal the first document from the man watching the action.

The second document is on the topmost floor of a building covered in guards, but luckily the top floor is the least secured. Make your way to the east side of the building and climb up to the top floor to ledge assassinate a guard standing by it. You can now enter the building and head straight for the document in the next room. With both documents in hand you can return to Condorcet to complete the mission.

A Romantic Stroll

Unlocks: Sequence 02, Memory 01

Napoleon has fallen in love with a young lady named Josephine, but the Royalists plan to attack him on his first "date" with the lady.

Make your way to the waymarker to find Napoleon and Josephine and enter the small courtyard down the short alley. This courtyard contains many enemies, but Napoleon and Josephine are nice enough to stay in the alley until you clear them out. Start with the enemies on the roofs and make your way around the interior, taking out enemies inside the buildings via the windows, and then finally the enemies on the ground. Once clear of all 10 targets return to Napoleon and watch him and Josephine to complete the mission.

Signaling Officer Murat

Unlocks: Complete A Romantic Stroll

Murat wishes you to infiltrate the Chouans and sabotage the cannons, but the area is covered in enemies that you must avoid. A pure stealth route is almost impossible, so it is best to stay just outside the restricted area and user Berserk Blades on the strange enemy archetypes to clear out the enemies with some Poison Gas bombs. You can also use the natural aggression between the guards and the Extremists to get them to fight each other, but distraction is the key to getting to both the cannons. Once you light both, escape the area to complete the mission.

A Nice Chappe

Unlocks: Complete Signaling Officer Murat

The captain want you to sabotage four Chappe signal towers to disrupt the royalist signals to Duke Ferdinand's troops. Each of the towers is located within restricted zones, heavily guarded by enemies.

The two towers on the southern palace are the easiest to take care of, provided you approach them from the east and west sides. By approaching them from the edge of the restricted zones you will reach the tower from behind, where you can snipe the guards standing in front of them with Phantom Blades. Sabotage the first tower after killing the guards before dropping and circling to the other side to do the same at the other tower.

The tower in the northeast is difficult due to the many Watchers on the rooftops. Approach from the northwest and make sure that no guards are looking when you climb on the wall and then use Phantom Blade to take out the many sentries. You can then take out the officer that patrols between the wall and the rooftop before you sabotage the tower. If you are spotted before or after the sabotage, escape the area and hop into the river to lose the guards.

The final tower to the northwest is difficult, due to the many guards. It is suggested that you follow the coastline west until you spot two guards on the beach and Phantom Blade headshot them. The corpses should draw over the guards on the tower platform, which you can Phantom Blade as well, and then make your way to the platform and take cover. Before climbing up, shoot one of the guards by the alarm bell with a Berserk Blade to draw everyone away and then sabotage the tower.

Precious Correspondence

Unlocks: Complete A Nice Chappe

Some letters that General Thomas-Alexandre Dumas kept from his family, when he left Haiti, have been stolen by the Templars to influence him. You need to find the patrols carrying the letters, assassinate them, and retrieve the letters.

The northern restricted area is heavy with guards on the ground and with a Watcher on the balcony it is almost impossible to infiltrate the area quietly. Instead of trying to make your way into the zone, climb a building in the southeast corner and use Eagle Vision to spot the Brute carrying the letter. The easiest way to deal with the Brute is to hit him with a Berserk Blade, to draw the nearby enemies, and then toss in some Poison Gas bombs. Once the area is clear, kill off the Watcher on the balcony and grab the letter.

In the eastern restricted area you will find a bunch of Defenders preventing you from entering the area and even more Watchers on the roof. The best approach is to climb the buildings to the south and take out the Watcher on a balcony that overlooks the stone pathway inside the garden. The Brute will walk down this path, allowing you to hit him with a Berserk Blade, and engage in combat with the Defenders by the south entrance. Once dead, kill off any guards remaining to retrieve the letter and then leave.

The final letter is located in the catacombs in the southern graveyard, accessed through a single entrance with Defenders on guard. Since the guards on the surface are merely a hindrance that need to be dealt with, either hit a guard nearby with a Berserk Blade or use Cherry Bombs to draw them away. Once the entrance is clear, rush down and lose and pursuers. In the catacombs, take a left and carefully make your way to the search zone to identify your target and use Phantom Blades to clear the area and retrieve the final letter.

Once you have all three letters, return to Dumas to complete the mission.

Constructing a "Close Shave"

Unlocks: Sequence 02, Memory 01

The man is being lured into a trap by some brigands who have stolen the parts to his guillotine and wishes Arnor to retrieve the parts for him.

Start by climbing up to the rooftop to kill the two Watchers nearby, before shooting the Watcher on the awning below, and then turn left and make your way to another set of Watchers on the other side and kill them quietly. Continue clockwise around the roofs to kill another Watcher and then jump to the church and climb up to the landing, where you can Phantom Blade the two Watchers below. Now backtrack to where you climbed up by the executioner and this time head the opposite way, killing all the Watchers in the same manner.

Once the area is clear of Watchers you can return to the executioner and enter the building across the way to lockpick a door. Silently kill the enemy waiting by the door and then walk left and gather the first part, leaving the enemies alone. Continue toward the next part and use Phantom Blades or Berserk Blades to dwindle the number of enemies near the second part, which will allow you to get it and the final parts rather easily.

Return to the executioner and speak to his partner Tobias and then defend them from the ambush to complete the mission.

Up in Arms

Unlocks: Sequence 02, Memory 01

A letter from Saint Just to Robespierre informs Arno that defective arms have been delivered to Napoleon's troops to halt the captain's rising fame.

Make your way to the waymarker and climb the southern buildings and hop into the haycart below to reach the ground near a Brute's patrol. Wait for the Brute to walk away and hop out to assassinate him and then sabotage the nearby cannon. Return to the cart to head north through the buildings and Phantom Blade the two guards on the other side of the fence. You can now hop the fence and turn right through the buildings to carefully approach the second cannon. Backtrack north through the building and hug the right wall to the final cannon and sabotage it. You can now carefully escape the area to complete the mission.

The Little Prince

Unlocks: Sequence 02, Memory 01

Rumor has it that King Louis XVI's son is still alive and in Templar hands, meaning the Assassins need to rescue him and take him into safety away from the city. After examining the poster speak to the Assassin nearby and follow her a short distance to the restricted zone, while learning why the prince is in danger.

Instead of dealing with the front of the building, along with all the enemies, run past the building to the east side and deal with the Defender outside. You can now climb up to the wooden platform outside the window to snipe the two marked guards inside and then hop in. Unfortunately, the prince has to walk down through the building to exit the front door, so carefully make your way through the house and use cover or Phantom Blades to take out the enemies. Once clear, talk to the prince and follow him outside and down the road, where you'll need to deal with a few more enemies, before reaching the docks and completing the mission.

Turtle, Snake, Bear, Paper, Scissors

Unlocks: Sequence 02, Memory 01

Three thugs that go by the names Turtle, Snake, and Bear are harassing the neighborhood and the citizens want them dead.

The first is in a crowded market, walking the perimeter of the area and can sometimes be difficult to find. Use Eagle Vision to spot him and then wait for the right time to shoot a Phantom Blade when no one is looking your way. If you are spotted, run away to lose them before moving on. The final two targets are in different houses on the outskirts of the same restricted zone. Stand outside the zone and use Berserk Blades to take out the enemies on the ground floor, often drawing the main target out, or quietly use Phantom Blades and carefully make your way upstairs to kill the targets. Once all three targets are dead, escape the area to complete the mission.

Tapestry Thief

Unlocks: Sequence 02, Memory 01

The Assassin's have planted fake Assassin relics in the tapestry district to lure Templars into the open. Your task is to check if anyone has had any interest in the tapestries and track down any Templars to assassinate them.

Make your way to the waymarker to speak to the tapestry worker, who informs you that the tapestry was stolen, and then check the many search zones for other clues to the thief's whereabouts. A woman across from the sewer entrance informs you that the thief entered the nearby sewers, but following him won't be easy. Turn toward the two Defenders and hop the water, quickly double assassinating the Defenders, and make your way through the tunnels to another exit.

Speak to the women by the sewers and then make your way to the following search zones, again speaking to the NPCs to learn where the thief went. When you finally find the thief, wait for him to begin walking away and then use the lift to the rooftops. You'll need to tail the target through the streets until he meets his boss just outside a restricted zone by using the rooftops and the crowds.

Once the handoff is made you'll need to assassinate the boss, but rather than trying to kill him from your currently location it is much easier to circle to the opposite side of the restricted zone and headshot the target. Once the target is dead, escape the area to complete the mission.

Cartouche's Memories

Unlocks: Sequence 02, Memory 01

Cartouche needs you to recover his memoirs, which contain Assassin secrets, from the Templars to the northeast.

The eastern restricted zone can be approached from the southwest, where you'll need to eliminate the two Watchers, and then drop to the ground and enter the archway below. Since the two Defenders are actually asleep you can leave them be and make your way right to the well in Stealth Mode, where you'll want to Berserk Blade one of the guards. Let the guards take care of each other and then kill off any survivors to grab the document.

The western restricted zone is almost impossible to do through stealth, so use Berserk Blades on the higher ranked enemies like the Defenders and Poison Gas to deal with the majority of the enemies. Additionally, if some of the vigilante civilians happen to be nearby, use them to help you fight the extremists. Once the majority of the enemies are dead, sneak through the area to the chest containing the second document and return to Cartouche to complete the mission.

Murder Mysteries

Once you speak to Vidocq in the Palais de Justice district the chain of side quests to investigate the mysterious murders of citizens will become available. Each mission consists of using Eagle Vision to identify clues, talk to witnesses, and eventually uncover the murderer and accuse them. Each time you incorrect accuse a person of the murder your reward will decrease, while if you correctly identify the murderer on the first try you'll receive a bonus.

Since identifying the clues is straightforward, I will merely mention what the clues for each area of the investigation is and the solution to each murder.

Helix Rifts

Once you have completed the Server Bridge(s) you can return to the time anomalies to complete other tasks that the Brotherhood needs. Your basic goal is collect as much data as possible within the limited time provided and retrieve any trapped assassins. When the time expires you will need to exit the area before the simulation crashes and you are also trapped inside.

The goal is simple, collect the data needed to reveal the location of the trapped Assassin and then save him, all in the most fluid way possible to maximize your score.

Tips:

  • Learn the layout of each Helix to know where you need to go and where the data collectibles are.
  • Maintain a fluid path through data to get as many of them as possible, rather than a few isolated ones, to increase your score.
  • Try and target a few of the high scoring collectibles.

The following is a table of the different data types:

Data TypeValueNotes
Blue Data10-
Yellow Data20Sometimes moves in a loop to make it more difficult to run over
Green Data50You must stand on this data for a few seconds to decrypt it
Assassin250-1000Only appears after reaching your first data requirement

Nostradamus Enigmas

Nostradamus Enigmas are puzzles scattered throughout Paris, with each quest starting point represented by a scroll icon. Each Enimga quest involves using a riddle, given by the quest starting position, to find symbols that appear in Paris on the ground, walls, statues, and so on by using Eagle Vision.

To begin an Enigma puzzle you simply need to head to the starting location and interact with the symbol, marked with a quest accept. Once accepted you'll receive the first riddle that indicates a location somewhere in Paris, usually within a limited area the size of a couple districts. Using the riddle you must find the location and use Eagle Vision to reveal the symbol and interact with it for the next riddle. This will continue until you receive the final riddle and final symbol, in which case you will complete the mission.

Once you complete all Enigma's you can unlock the gates in the basement of the Cafe Theatre to gain Thomas De Cerneillion's armor.

Tips

If you wish to try and complete these on your own here are a few things you should do to help youself out:

  • Make sure to synchronize all viewpoints
  • The riddles often mention a major landmark (marked on the map), so check these first
  • Read the historical backgrounds in the Database, riddles will usually have clues based on this info
  • When you are close to a symbol you will hear a shining noise that indicates a symbol is nearby
